cahara: him being middle eastern and heavily implied palestinian it only felt best to give him more melanin + i thought it would make the variety in skin tones more appealing, also included scars considering growing up a pickpocket and getting up to trouble wouldn't just leave him unscathed. i mean it only makes sense for him to got a few going on right? also i just like adding scars/freckles and moles to characters if you cant already tell

darce: as much as i love her fuckass bowl cut i really don't believe it would be so straight and combed through (?) venturing through the dungeons, there would have to be some texturization from the dirt and grime going on in there, also gave her freckles and a scar because i mean she's probably done some sparring while out in the sun, i mean a knight with no sign she faced battle? doesn't sound like a proper knight to me

enki: wrinkly and deathly pale from the combined wearing out his body with magic + refusing to go out into the sun, because of this he's the only one without any visible scars (not counting the scars going through his hands when he was crucified) also because of the whole being thrown into a well, in my mind he's not keen on having grime or dirt touching his bare skin so he would wear another layer of clothing underneath the robes and gloves

ragnavaldr: tried really hard for the 4 rag fans with this one, rather than the depicted greek god sort of physique i thought a strongman build would be just as if not more appealing, along with more visible scars + him being at least somewhat blind in his right eye considering the big scar he's got going through it. also made him more tan because i personally thought it looked nice on him, not much i can say outside of that lol

one of the things i LOVE about clone high’s original run, is how few moments there actually were between joan and jfk…

yet EVERY moment they do share, it is always hinted that jfk likes joan. he makes little advances towards her. he agrees to help her with that school campaign. they work well together. he showed obvious interest in her even while john darc.

then it all builds up in the finale. he asks her to prom, and joan agrees, originally to make abe jealous. it is later learned he asked to prom NOT because of her makeover, but because HE ACTUALLY LIKES HER. they share a honest moment together with jfk explaining to joan that he sees more in her, drifting from his stereotyped jock persona

he has ALWAYS liked joan for who she is, and she doesn’t have to be someone she is not.

the show basically ends with joan finally learning abe cannot see her worth, so why chase after him, especially when there was someone who saw her beauty this whole time.

that is something i can never forget and oh STILL LOVE.

for a show meant to parody high school dramas, their relationship was built up and felt genuine.

Intertwine: The Mini Market

Before I go into this story, I'm just gonna say that this is one of two teasers that I'm gonna put out for the 1st chapter of my webcomic! Hope you enjoy these :)

The Mini Market

Clyde was wondering around the dusty place, his clothes and the backpack he wore were dusted with sand and grime as he strewn about the decrepit city, reminiscing about the past and how he felt regret in getting into this mess which he wouldn't have caused if he had just controlled himself.

It wouldn't be long after walking for a while that he noticed the area wasn't full of sunlight anymore. It used to be evening, however it started to darken to night. He could've kept on walking, walking around the dusty place, maybe bumped into concrete or fell time to time, his body doesn't need any requirements to survive like any other person does, but he felt that it should have one, as a treat to himself, even if he shouldn't need it.

He walked and walked around, trying to find shelter for himself. A rest should be enough, he thought as he looked around, but blocks and blocks of concrete from abandoned stores surrounded him, none of them in sight would be considered useful to be a place habitable enough to stay inside for the moment.

It was only then a slight cyan light shone across a sliver of concrete that attracted his gaze.

"What?" He said in confusion.

Clyde thought this whole city was abandoned, and that no electricity was to be found powering anything at all. This gave him hope, maybe there is someone or something nearby, that is able to help him, that is able to offer him a ride out of this place, that is able to talk with…

Clyde starts walking over to the source of the light, weaving through the blocks of concrete that once used to be lively with buildings and stores, it felt like forever before he reached his destination, a small mini market standing out in the middle of abandoned stores and buildings, cyan colored lights shined bright, lighting up the outside of the mini market. The atmosphere felt lively from looking at the sign itself, as it was made out of neon lights, however no name was made with them.

Clyde walked over to the front entrance and peered inside, it seems to just be a normal small mini market, food were placed on rows of racks and drinks were placed in what looks to be a cooler. There were 4 aisles in the store, with gaps in between each racks holding on to some products so much so that you can walk in a line horizontally through the aisles. On closer inspection, several things inside were flipped on it's side on the ground, a spot in the back of the market made way for a resting place.

After looking through the front glass, minding one of the busted glass doors at the entrance of the mini market, Clyde decided to head inside the market. The outside darkening as the night comes on.

By the time he entered, he did not notice that someone else was watching him from one of the windows from the empty buildings nearby, their eyes glowing white in the darkness, filled with curiosity, before receding from the empty window.

The mini market was chock full of resources. Using what he learnt, Clyde was able to start a small fire in a barrel at the empty corner of the market. Snacks that were still edible, were in his hands and his backpack as he sat down and huddled close to the fire, feeling it's warmth.

Clyde closes his eyes, as he reminisced again about his time with his friends. It was a Christmas celebration and all of them were hanging out for a group sleepover. All of them were chatting, messing around, playing activities and such.

What Clyde focused more on was his then boyfriend, Darc, both of whom were happily discussing about the events taking place at that time, laughing about silly jokes, enjoying the moment as well as flirting with each other. He sighs as he experienced the peacefulness of the memory.

"Wish I can go back." Clyde thought, a sad frown formed on his face as he slowly drifts to sleep.

CLINK CLANG

Clyde was jolted awake with the sudden sounds of metal clashing together.

Someone is here,

but within the range of the light of the fire, as it was slowly burning in intensity, he could not see anyone. The blue light from the sign outside did not help, as Clyde realized the lights were turned off by now. It was dark out there, night has fallen, the darkness grew in the market.

"God dammit."

Clyde grew anxious, he had to remain calm, it's his responsibility to keep himself out of harm's way, he has to survive, he can't bear the fact that he has to encounter this stranger for the first time but he has to, he has to.

He stood up and slowly started walking around the aisles, checking each and every one of it to find a weapon that he can use.

Soon, he picked up a frying pan, it was enough to be dealt on someone without killing them with his current strength. It was also the only suitable weapon that he can find while searching through the aisles he went to.

It was quiet. Clyde was slowly walking to another aisle to search for something useful on the racks, he planned to book it from the store if he ever approached the front door by then. However…

for a moment from the back of the store, he had never realized the white glowing eyes that were near the front entrance were staring at him.

Only when he saw them in his peripheral vision was when he turned to look at it fully and froze. He was petrified, meeting eye to eye with the stranger.

"YAAAAAAAAR" "Shit SHit SHIT ARGH-"

Clyde was ready to turn back and run away, but he wasn't fast enough as the stranger threw an object at his head at high speeds that he easily slipped and fell to the ground, letting the stranger catch up to him.

Hands were up on Clyde in an instant, one hand wrapped around his neck tightly, followed by the other who cupped Clyde's abled arm, forcing him to drop the frying pan. The stranger stretched forward and high over him, however the stranger does not look at him directly.

Clyde was struggling to remove the stranger's hand off his neck, which it was impossible to do so. His neck was gripped tight and he might die if he doesn't do anything.

Clyde realized the stranger's grip on his arm was loosening by this very moment. He took it as a chance to free himself. He was looking all over the floor for the frying pan he picked up just now, seeing it mere centimetres away from him.

He reached out for it, yanking his abled arm off the stranger, while one hand was still on the stranger's hands that held his neck.

WHAM

The stranger's face was hit with a force so hard that their head collided with the racks as items on it fell off, the grip on Clyde's neck was lessened significantly. As a result, Clyde was able to get up after the struggle.

The stranger looked back at Clyde before-

WHAM

"Arh! Stop STO-" The stranger fell on to their back on the floor of the market, splayed out as their noodle-like arms tries to find its way to protect themselves. Clyde winds up another strike as he finds an opening.

WHAM

The stranger finally went unconscious, splayed out again as messed up spaghetti. Clyde towered over it, panicked breathing escaping after being full of adrenaline before letting go of the frying pan.

He stepped back from the mess. As his adrenaline rush was slowly fizzling out, he looked back at what he'd done.

"Oh no… No no no no no…" He didn't kill it, did he?

Regret washed over him once again. With what strength he had left, he dragged the stranger over to the fire, he didn't know what to do, all he could do was to prop it next to the fire, despite looking like the same mess as before, hoping that they're still warm in the scenario that they're still alive.

Clyde grabbed his backpack and packed extra supplies into it. He sat down next to the front entrance, thinking of things to do when he leaves, but he doesn't want to leave until ensuring that the stranger is at least alive.

It's all too much. "What will he do when it turns out to be dead? What will happen to me if it's dead… If it's dead… If…"

"Please be fine…" Clyde whispered as he started sobbing, tears running down his face, he can't stand losing someone, even if his life was in danger from them minutes ago.

Clyde ended up sleeping on his side, leaned on his backpack, tears stained his face.

After double checking for any more sounds from Clyde, the stranger opened his eyes as he retracted his elongated body from the fight.

He never passed out in the first place, all he did was pretending to be dead.

After a few moments, he walked over to Clyde and kneeled down to meet his face eye-to-eye, looking at him longingly, before getting up and sitting down somewhere near him, just close enough so that Clyde wasn't able to directly see him when he wakes up again.

Frequent offenses like cell phone theft continue to worry residents in both upscale neighborhoods and the underserved areas of São Paulo

Amid tree-lined streets, elegant homes, surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and armored vehicles, residents of São Paulo’s upscale Jardins district are adopting new habits to navigate the growing fear of being targeted by crime.

“Some no longer carry their cell phones when they go out. Others remove their wedding rings before leaving the house. People are afraid to walk the streets,” says Fernando de Sampaio Barros, 65, a longtime resident and president of AME Jardins, the association representing residents of Jardins América, Europa, Paulista, and Paulistano.

In Itaim, a neighborhood marked by high-rise buildings, 22-year-old Luis Otávio works at his family’s flower shop and has witnessed noticeable changes in customer behavior. “Two of our regulars no longer get out of their cars to buy flowers. They park, place their order, and we deliver it through the window.” The shop sits across from one of the entrances to Parque do Povo, where a murder in broad daylight in February shocked the city. “The maids who used to walk dogs in the early morning now leave later and without their phones.”

Roughly 20 kilometers from Itaim, in the underserved district of Brasilândia, fear has also intensified. “People try not to walk alone. They go out in groups. ‘Are you taking the bus to work? Let’s go together.’ It’s all about safety—especially early in the morning when the streets are still empty,” says Joana Darc Rosalvo, 55, a lifelong resident. Darius grimaced, eyes squeezing shut and he tried to not flinch, to pull away as a gash on his face was being cleaned. The cut itself, even if deep, hurt surprisingly little. It might have been due to adrenaline, or the area had just numbed from all the pain receptors going haywire.

Having his arm in a sling to mend a bone, the ache from that keeping him present despite slight whooziness. "Ouch!" he exclaims at one point, instinctively also pulling back. The uninjured hand lifted up, fingers nearly digging into the cut as it's stopped. Yeah, no, maybe it's better not to go touch it, since that would mean Lance'd have to start anew, and he did want this to be over with.

"Feels bad that you have to do this," he manages to say from between his teeth. Ideally, they could have gone to find themselves a proper medic, but moving around in this condition, and with people in a worse state than him, wasn't exactly a good idea.

It'd scar, Darius is pretty sure. But he's already learned to take them as something akin to a badge, a permanent memory of him having survived something. Having been able to return home, back to Ragtag, back to Lance.

That thought has him pause his fussing a moment, blinking a few times to see more clearly. The look of concentration, the crease between brows, the worry he could pinpoint in the eyes of his best friend, the---

Darius doesn't know if he should lable it.

A sense of calm settles inside him, his shoulders slumping, his posture relaxing. Even if he previously flinched and pulled away from his wounds being touched, he now sits still. Watching Lance move, watching him take care of him. Trusting Lance with every piece of himself, all the way to the deepest parts of his core.

Yeah, this is why he keeps returning. This is why he keeps fighting. It's all for him.

"I--," the words get stuck in his throat. Darius swallows once, his gaze leaving Lance for a moment. He wants to say so much, yet not knowing how. Darc takes a breath, looking up with determination which usually is seen as he prepares himself for fight. Like he is making a promise he plans on keeping, until his last breath.

"I --I'm gonna build a proper life for you. A good one, a safe one. With everything you'll ever need. If you'll have...!"

Darius's brain kicks in at this point, stepping on the brakes, noting how it seems like a confession, even if not worded as such. The realization has his smudged cheeks turn pink, the color also spreading over the bridge of his nose and to the tips of his ears, turning a few shades darker.

There's a swooping feeling in his stomach. He can't just go blurting out stuff like that when... when there's probably nothing. Maybe he had hit his head too hard?

If you'll have me. Accept me.

"I'll stop at nothing. I don't care what I have to do."

I don't care who I have to leave behind.

"I'd do anything for you, for us."

December 8 Holiday Prompt fic: Shieldshock

“Steve?”

“Yeah, Darcy?”

“How long do you think until they dig us out?”

“There’s a lot of variables I don’t know,” Steve sighed, eying the ceiling carefully. So far it was holding up, but there were occasional creaks and groans that made him very uneasy.

Darcy was huddled in her desk chair, in a bit of shock after her lab building had been bombed. So far she and Steve were physically unscathed, but she was an anxious wreck over her colleagues safety. She’d been frantically texting them and so far she had two who hadn’t responded.

“What about digging us out with your super duper serum strength?” she suggested. “Plus, the sight of the flexing would distract me from the imminent panic.”

“Much as I love to be a distraction for you, I can’t risk accidentally bringing the room down on you. I really prefer my girlfriend to keep her vital organs intact.”

Steve crouched down in front of Darcy gently and took her face in his hands.

“Hey, sweetheart. We’ll get out of this. We’ve got a Bucky and a Hulk and a Thor and a lot of friends who are good with grappling hooks. I know you’re scared for your friends, but I promise you, I won’t rest until they’re found. I don’t leave anyone behind.”

“I’m so glad you’re here,” Darcy sighed before she leaned into his comforting kiss.

A few minutes later, as they were passing the time reminiscing about their previous misadventures, Darcy was struck by an idea.

“I’ll turn on those singing carolers Clint got me! I’ll make a loud obnoxious noise and help them find us hopefully.”

“There’s an idea,” Steve said with a grin. “You always come through, Darce.”

“You know it!” she said cheerfully, flipping the little switch that turned on the singing. Immediately the tinny strains of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” filled the air.

Luckily, for both of their sanities, it was just over an hour later that they heard a loud scraping against the blocked door and a voice yelling.

“Darcy! Steve! You alright? Turn that racket off before I lose what’s left of my mind!”

Darcy chuckled at how grumpy Bucky sounded as she turned off the carolers.

The door flew open and sure enough, there stood a very dusty looking Bucky Barnes.

He took a look at them and their surroundings.

“You certainly got lucky. This is probably the most stable part of the building right now. But I wouldn’t recommend lingering. You alright, Doc?” he asked Darcy in his concerned voice.

“Yeah. Mostly worrying about my colleagues. Any word on them?”

“So far, no fatalities. It was pretty empty being so close to Christmas. Barton and Banner are going over every inch of this place.”

Darcy sagged against Steve in relief and he brought his arm around her in support.

“Thanks, Bucky. We tried to help out with the musical guide.

Bucky grimaced. “I could hear it all the way down the hall. An atrocity to the human ear, but admittedly useful. Let’s get her out of here,” he nodded to Steve.

Thanks to Bucky’s careful guidance, they were soon out in the wintry air and being checked out by paramedics. After Darcy had seen for herself her friends were all safe, she allowed Steve to take her home, where they cuddled on her couch.

“Well, that could have been a whole lot worse,” she sighed. “But I sure didn’t need any more Christmas related trauma.”

“Maybe next Christmas we’ll take that tropical vacation we’ve always wanted and make some better memories,” Steve suggested, kissing the top of her head. Darcy practically purred against him and smiled dreamily.

“I’m all in, Stevo.”

TW: Nothing I can think of

A/N: I'M BACKKK (ok well not exactly). I have the most important exams of my life coming up soon, but anyways thought I should actually write the ff that I've been teasing for ages. Here's the first chapter babes, gimme your thoughts. I will slow put out the rest of the chapters, but the first few will for sure come out sooner than later. I will also slowly add some lore posts that will help y'all keep track with the world building and give little hints hehe

CHAPTER ONE

I idle around the bar counter, taking quick glimpses back toward the dance floor. The DJ, surprisingly, knows how to intertwine both the club-hits and the sensual songs in a rhythmic trance. The seating areas were made of huddles of couches line the wall to maximise space for dancing. Which are also surprisingly clean and seemingly un-sticky. Crowds shift between the plush seating to the dance floor. The purple-neons lights glimmer in between the dancing bodies, the pulse of the room is frantic. Ironically, in comparison of the calm that sweeps the bar counter. 

I grumble while taking a sip of my cocktail, “What the fuck is in this drink?”

The bartender that was loitering around hands me a napkin, and flashes me a suspiciously bright smile. His odd stripe of silver hair and rather prominent neck tattoos, are strangely out of place with the rest of the staff.

“But not bad for a beginner,” I offer a smile that doesn’t quite reach my eyes. He pauses as he dries the glasses and looks up, his piercing gaze follows my eyes. “That obvious huh,” he tilts his head, raising an eyebrow. “Unless there is something else that you believe can suffice,’’ I carefully slide my glass across the counter along with a bag of Lunari. He raises both eyebrows this time, a smirk spreads slowly across his face and he peeks into the bags. “This suffices,” he comments as he pockets the bag in his waistcoat. “But I’m afraid, the price you must pay will be much larger,” he states ominously. 

Do they think I was the cause of the body in the attic, if it wasn’t them, then this is much bigger than we think it is. I need his help to get to the bottom of this. 

I finally catch the name tag plastered on the front of the bartender, SAN. From his gelled black and silver hair, to his picture-perfect physique; it made sense that he sent out his General to deal with me. But I have to admit, I didn’t clock him as a coward sending his best soldier as an errand-boy. San guided me past a dark hallway and up dim-lit stairs. San didn’t talk much, that wasn’t his style. He was known to be a man of few words, he minced words as he did with his opponents. “Try not to talk to any of the patrons, it will save you the trouble of joining them,” he warned while opening the door to the drinking section of DARC+AUL. 

He is careful to make sure I do not see a single peek of the things that go on in between each burgundy booth. Gracefully guiding me between the dazed patrons, we reach a dark hallway with rows of antique lamps. An melancholic mist coats the hallway and all of the lamps extinguish themselves one by one leaving a singular lamp lit at the end. 

“Is there a fog machine or?” I turn to pick on the dear general. “You’ll find what you are looking at the end of the hall,” he quickly shuts me down. San excuses himself with a knowing smirk, and disappears off into the darkness of the hallway. 

I quickly make my way down the hallway, sweeping past many doors and lamps to finally reach the last door. The mist creeps up my spine causing a cold sweat to stick to the back of my neck. 

How could I possibly explain this situation to anyone? 

I pause before I open the door, the intricate designs of the doorknob dig into my palm as I tighten my grip.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3/5 - The smut in this novel uses explicit language and a decent amount of detail. There is a good balance of plot and romance. There are several spicy scenes throughout the book, at least two or three, but potentially even more.

TLDR

This book had me captivated from start to finish. It is dark, it is compelling, and it is a wild ride from start to finish. Lora Darc has an incredible handle on pacing and relationship development. I honestly wasn't sure if this book would be too dark for me based on the pitch, but I've been trying to push my dark romance reading further and further to test the boundaries of what I like and I am so glad I read this book! It may genuinely end up being one of my favorite books of the year. There are so many parts of this that verge on psychological thriller and I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed every step of the journey.

The Romance

Eve and Emery's dynamic is incredibly compelling. The build of tension and anticipation as Eve slowly untangles the mystery of why Emery killed her family had me absolutely unable to put the book down. Emery has so much trauma and does so many awful things, but I found myself liking him and enjoying his banter with Eve before we even get the full context into why he is the way that he is. Also, though the smut doesn't kick off until fairly far into the plot, it is excellent and quite spicy. I have so much to say about these two, but I want to avoid spoiling anything so!!! Just go read it!

Final Thoughts

As always with dark romance, definitely mind the trigger warnings! Also, this book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. I sometimes struggle with those, but this one didn't bother me and it so clearly perfectly sets up the second book in this duology. Thankfully, the second book comes out in just a few months and I am absolutely dying to get my hands on it. I can't wait to discover where the rest of Eve and Emery's journey leads, because I absolutely want them to have to have a happy ending no matter how unlikely it may seem.

Darcy scoffs at the thought and instead drags her friend deeper into the cave. "Opposite to contrary beliefs Y/N, they can't build a cell tower inside of a cave." she snorted as she began to feel the rope around her waist.

Y/N rolls her eyes at her friend's sarcasticness. But Darcy was right, she's being a bore. "Alright, I guess I should just focus on having fun." she gave in as Darcy bit back a smile.

"Finally! And after we're done with this, we're totally going to have a spa day." she muttered as she falls down a few steps. Adrenaline courses through Y/N's body as she tries to catch her friend in time.

A wave of relief washing over her when Darcy laughs loudly. Y/N glares at her, as the cave grew too dark for both their naked eye. Darcy turns on her head torch and Y/N flinches at the sudden light. "Sorry, I just didn't remember those steps being there." Darcy reasons as she began to feel for the ropes in front of her.

Her hands shuddering gently when she realizes they weren't there anymore. "Fuck." she curses loudly as Y/N raises her eyebrows. "What the fuck is wrong now?" she queries as Darcy shrugs still nervously trying to look for the guide marks around the cave.

Y/N looked above her, immersing herself in her surroundings. "I think we're lost, I probably lost the rope while turning on my light." she curses as she gives up on looking for the red rope and instead taking her friend's hands and tightening both of their harness.

"I've learned about caves in school, we should probably make it out before dark though." Darcy replies in a strangely calm manner and Y/N began to panic. "How are you not a bit scared?" she rasped as Darcy shrugs, "I'm literally freaking out, what if there's like cannibalistic bats here." Darcy admits as she turns on her second head torch.

Darcy realizes that Y/N had been freaking out and she lets out a hard exhale. "But I don't think we have to worry about that, because I see light -- and a few flights of stairs." she points towards the well lit corner that had a flight of stairs beside it.

Y/N facepalms. She walks towards the staircase and takes a step towards the over-world. "We went exploring for 5-minutes, and almost died. I think we should never do this again." she pleads as Darcy shrugs behind her.

"Maybe they should put up signs." Darcy complains as Y/N takes a step out of the cave. "Uhh Darce," she turns behind her friend as a dragon stares at the both of them. "Fuck." Darcy curses for the second time. "Fuck." Y/N curses after her while Caraxes growls at the both of them.

“I never do. I can drink as much as I want, but no headaches.”

“Lucky you.” he said, laughing as he stood up from the chair. You did the same but you wobbled a little. He had to grab you so you wouldn’t fall.

You moved your nose closer to his neck and smelled his perfume.

“Tom Ford Black Orchid.” you said as you grabbed your purse.

“You know your cologne.”

“I used to work in a perfume store. I know most.” you said as you ran your hand through your hair and made your way out of the restaurant.

You quickly got into Dacre’s car as he started to drive.

You knew you were staring, you felt it. And if you did, so did he. He took a quick glance at you before turning back to the road.

“What?” he asked with a laugh.

“How can you be real? Handsome, funny, smart, talented, kind and your killer smile. Just not fair.” you were pouting, the fact that you practically confessed to Dacre completely went over your head.

“Well, thank you. I think you are also very nice and beautiful and talented.”

“You are just saying that because I complimented you.”

“No, I truly mean it.”

“Sure.” you said letting out a long yawn.

You watched as the buildings passed before you closed your eyes.

The next morning you woke up in your bed. You were confused as to how you got there in the first place, but not the weirdest place to wake up after a few drinks.

Thanks to the alcohol, you forgot most of what happened. You remembered being late, talking to Dacre, Natalie, Joe and Charlie. Then you remember eating and drinking, but nothing more.

You assumed the images in your head about talking to Dacre were just your imagination.

As you walked out of the bedroom into the living room, you noticed a few things were misplaced, but you blamed your drunk self. You sat on the couch and decided to order some burgers. You put your phone down on the small table and this is when you noticed another phone there. It was definitely not yours. You picked it up and as the lock screen flashed you saw an image of a beach.

Did you steal someone’s phone? OR was someone else in the apartment with you? As you turned around you saw Darce standing in the hallway, looking in the mirror, fixing his hair. Then you looked back to the table in front of you and back to Dacre who was now standing behind you.

“Morning! You sure sleep a lot it’s almost 11 am.” he said. But why was he there?

“Hi. Umm...sorry but why are you here?”

“Oh, right. So, I drove you home, but you fell asleep in the car, so I carried you in.”

“And you changed my clothes?”

“No, you did that, half asleep. And you said I could stay since it was late, so I did.” he said as he sat down beside you on the couch. “Look you said something yesterday.”

“Oh no. Did I make a fool of myself?” you asked, feeling embarrassment creep up in your stomach.

“No. You didn’t just...I was so afraid to ask you out. I thought you are going to reject me, but now I’m a bit more confident.” you didn’t know what he was referring to, him? Afraid of rejection from you? How? You could only stare at him as he ran his fingers up and down his chest with a smile. “Would you be open for a date with me?” he asked and just as you opened your mouth to answer, your doorbell rang.

“It’s my food. I’ll be quick.” you stood up and walked to the door. Hoping that on your way to the door and back, you would be able to make sense of what was happening. Did Dacre really just asked you on a date? And what did you say that encouraged him to finally open up.

You walked back into the kitchen.

“I ordered some burgers, would you like some?” you asked him and he accepted. “I’m not avoiding your question by the way.” you said as you handed him his plate and sat down once again. “I’m just confused, you thought I didn’t like you?”

“Yes. I didn’t want to make it awkward between us, so I just didn’t do anything about it.”

“Well, Dacre, I would love to go on a date with you.”

​“Cool.” he said smiling.

“That’s not fair! You smiling like that is. How would I ever be able to say no if I know that you will smile like that when you are happy.” Now he was laughing as you smiled yourself.

“Guess then I can do whatever I want, Babe.”

You shook your head before you turned the TV on to watch something while you ate.

Out of the corner of your eye you saw Dacre looking at you.

You were extremely happy that your feeling were reciprocated. And also the fact that he asked you out on a date, you would never have imagined things to turn out that way.

Perhaps you should drink wine more often.
