NEW ORLEANS, 1970
Strobe lights went all across the room, music blaring, but I could barely tell what song was playing, too distracted by what I was doing—or, rather, who I was about to do. I ran my fingers through his hair while his hand crept up my skirt, our kiss getting more passionate by the second.
His name didn't matter. All I cared about was the fun we were about to have.
"Why don't we take this somewhere more private," he mumbled in between kisses.
I nodded against him, giving him one last kiss before whispering in his ear. "Back alley." The fact that I was drunk didn't stop me from leading us across the dance floor to the back where I'd been many times before. I knew the owner—who was also a really good kisser—and so I knew where to go.
I felt the cold air hit us as soon as we got outside, despite feeling so hot. As soon as the door closed, I turned around, intending on pulling him back in for a kiss, but I almost staggered back when I saw the same man I was kissing just moments ago with veins crawling underneath his eyes, fangs protruding in his mouth.
What the fuck?
I quickly sobered up, baring my own fangs at him. The atmosphere went from hot and sexy to dark in an instant.
His eyes widened. While his voice was surprised, there was still an undertone of hostility. "You're a vampire?"
I narrowed my eyes. "You didn't know?" God, how drunk was he? I smelt that he was a night crawler immediately. Clearly, he thought I was a human and wanted to leave so he could suck me dry.
That wasn't happening. For obvious reasons.
He cursed under his breath. For a second, I thought we'd get back to what we were doing; I mean, I just cleared this up. I was gonna be generous and continue to make out with him in spite of the fact that he just tried to kill me, but this dude just had to kill my fun, too.
He tried charging at me, but my magic worked faster than even vamp speed. Quickly, I rushed, "Motus!" and he was sent flying into the wall. My eyes widened. Fuckkkkkk, man.
I just wanted to get laid.
I wasn't supposed to do that. I was supposed to punch him, maybe snap his neck—I was supposed to do something that a vampire would do. A vampire doesn't just move things with their mind.
I thought I was soberer than that, but it seemed that the alcohol was still affecting me because I just sent a fucking vampire flying. Shock was all over the guy's face, his pretty, pretty face that I just wanted to have a good time with.
Fuck. Now I'd have to kill him.
He remained against the wall, but he didn't wait much longer before firing questions at me. "What the hell was that-"
I cut him off, "Look, man, I wasn't planning on doing a lot of talking with you tonight." Annoyance laced my voice. He didn't respond as quickly, just looking at me with an extremely analyzing gaze. I didn't doubt that he was confused. People don't just come across people like me.
He was silent until it looked like a light bulb went off in his head. "Tribrid," he muttered under his breath, almost like I wasn't meant to hear it, but I did.
My blood went cold. "What did you just say?" I asked, but he ignored me, continuing to mutter under his breath.
"I knew a guy once—he was half wolf, half vampire." If he didn't have my attention before, he sure as hell did now. Because I only knew one person that matched that description, and that was Klaus Mikaelson.
My body went rigid while the guy took little notice, seeming to put together a bunch of puzzle pieces in his head. "Yeah-" he paused, looking up at me, "I've heard chatter. Witches saying something about a... triangle: werewolf, vampire... and witch."
Chatter? He's heard chatter? A thousand things went through my mind at once. That was impossible. Nobody knew about me. I just got to this city; there was no way witches have managed to decipher a secret I've spent centuries keeping.
Against my will, my tone was now less calm. "I don't know what you're-"
"I think you do know what I'm talking about." The guy's eyes were hard as he stared right back at me. I thought he was just some baby vamp, but it appeared that he was proving me wrong. He took a step closer to me. "You're the tribrid, aren't you?"
I almost laughed, even though I was full of nerves while, just seconds ago, I was fine. "You must have a death wish," I remarked. Maybe I could've left him alone, convinced him to forget about my display of magic and just left town. But now he not only saw that, but he also knew exactly who I was and he'd go running to tell everyone else.
He had to go. It's a shame, though, I thought, he was such a good kisser.
I stepped closer to him and he immediately got the message, eyes widening again once he realized that I had the upper hand. "No, no," he said, raising his hands in surrender. "I promise you; you do not want to kill me."
I scoffed, "And why is that?"
"Listen, I hold a lot of influence around here-"
I scoffed again. "I really don't care." Throwing power around was a politician's move, and politicians only lied to you. I wasn't gonna take my chances.
I was walking towards him, taking one step forward for every step he took back until he blurted, "My name is Marcel Gerard." At this, I stopped. Marcel Gerard... I knew that name. I stood still, racking my brain until I realized why his name sounded so familiar.
Marcel Gerard literally ruled this city. I'd been in New Orleans for not even a few days yet you could hear vampires and witches alike mentioning him often.
Damnit. Of course, I not only meet the guy who the vampires in this city worship, but I also end up locking lips with him and have him find out what I am.
I just wanted to have fun.
He saw recognition on my face, causing his own to light up. "So, you know who I am." I nodded in response, exasperatedly rolling my eyes. All of this had completely caused my buzz to dissipate into thin air. "Look..." he trailed off, making a gesture with his hands.
I rolled my again. "Y/N."
"Look, Y/N, I know what you are. I figured it out in seconds. There's already speculation of a tribrid going around with the witches-"
"Get to the fucking point, Marcel, before I just decide to kill you. Believe me, I am not in the mood to deal with this right now."
He didn't waste any more time. "I can get the witches to back off and find something else to fixate on. I can bury just the thought of a tribrid being out there, Y/N," he emphasized.
I wonder just how dumb he thought I was. I shook my head. "So you want me not to kill you, just so you can go blab to whoever you see as soon as I leave you alone?" He shook his head right back at me.
"I won't say a thing, trust me." He paused. "We can help each other."
"Oh, c'mon-"
"No, I'm being serious," he asserted, no longer looking like he was backed into a corner but much more assured than before. "Killing me wouldn't do you any good. My people would search relentlessly for my killer, and the witches would only keep digging, possibly striking gold at some point. You keep me alive, and I can get rid of that for you."
I only stared at him with narrow eyes. He looked confident in the bar, that's what drew me to him, but I wasn't expecting anything like this. He had a point, but that didn't mean it was enough to stop me from killing him. And if I didn't like this city, then I'd kill him without any qualms and leave. But I do like this city. I want to stay here, and I knew I couldn't stay here with him dead and with the witches suspicious.
I couldn't afford to make enemies. Right now, what I needed were friends.
I'd already made up my mind, but Marcel didn't know that, still trying to get me to see a vision that I already understood. "We can make a good team, Y/N."
I didn't say anything for a few more seconds, thinking everything over in my mind. I could possibly be making the biggest mistake of my life right now, I thought. But I was already set. I kept my voice cold and devoid of emotion. "I'm giving you twenty-four hours to make this witch thing go away, Marcel."
A weight was lifted off his shoulders. "And I'll do just that." I wasn't gonna stick around much longer. This was already much more conversation than I was anticipating to have tonight, and we clearly weren't gonna have sex, so without another thought, I sped out of the alley.
Little did I know, that night marked the start of one of the rest of my life in New Orleans.
Tumblr media
THE PRESENT
I was pulled out of my reverie when I saw Marcel came into my vision, sitting down on the chair opposite to me. We started out trying to kill each other, and now look: we were meeting for coffee.
I didn't trust him when I first met him, even after he made my problems with the witches disappear. That wasn't enough. And it also wasn't enough for him to insist I work with him. Those were things he was doing for his own benefit, so, of course, that didn't inspire my trust in him.
I only started trusting Marcel after he opened up to me about his past. Doing that, getting vulnerable with someone—that showed that you trusted them. And what better way to get someone to trust you than to show that you trust them?
I wasn't just reminiscing for the sake of it. The way Marcel got me to trust him was what I'd been forgetting throughout all my interactions with Klaus. I couldn't just ask him to trust blindly, the same way Marcel couldn't ask me to, or the same way I couldn't get the witches to.
I needed a show of good faith. The trick was just figuring out what.
"Hey, Y/N/N."
I nodded back to Cellie's greeting, pushing a tumbler over to his side of the table. While I actually liked coffee, Marcel wasn't a fan. "Got you your drink."
He grinned. "Ah, have I told you how much I love you recently?"
"Definitely not enough," I quipped back. "Now drink." His smile only got wider as he brought the tumbler up to his lips, sipping from his blood while I worked at finishing my Americano.
It's been about a week since I gave the contract to Klaus and went out with Marcel and Cami, who were now accepting the title of "dating" (after lots of resistance from Cami's side). Things have otherwise been quiet. I've been over to the Abattoir a few times to speak with Elijah, sometimes speaking to Hayley, and rarely talking to Klaus, but everything was fine if you didn't count the fact that he was still staring at me every time I came over.
You'd think that I'd be the one behaving that way after constantly seeing my father, his baby mama, and his brother, but nope. I've been calm; the whole Mikaelson thing has been getting to me less, but Klaus would look at me like he was trying to pick apart everything I said or did.
Sooner or later, it wouldn't matter how well I kept my secret. He was just gonna keep digging, so I needed to stop him before he struck gold.
"How's D been doing?" He asked, and the Mikaelsons were instantly pushed to the back of my mind. Davina had that effect.
"She's been good. Doing her school work, getting better with her magic by the day. You should come by for dinner soon, actually."
"Yeah, I-" he cut himself off when a "ping" sounded. He glanced down at his phone on the table, muttering a curse under his breath. When he looked back up at me, his expression was a mix of annoyance at the disturbance and apology. "Sorry, Y/N/N, I've gotta-"
"No, no, it's fine," I told him. "Go on and deal with it." He gave me a silent thank you before getting up, kissing my cheek in parting.
"I'll make it up to you. Dinner at mine," he said, walking away backwards. I smiled, telling him I'd see him later, and then he was out the door. Although we'd been sitting for all of one minute before he had to go, I wasn't irritated. He was getting back into the groove with the Quarter's happenings, so I'd be fully supportive.
I got up, throwing my empty coffee cup into the trash and walking out of the little café, mentally running over my schedule: housekeeping, then dinner with Marcel and Davina later. Right now, I'd go game plan my pitch to the vampires.
Or not.
Just as I was about to cross the street, a black car abruptly skirted in front of me, making me jump back. Before I could make anything of it, two men stepped out of it. Their expressions were practically lifeless, not a trace of emotion in sight.
"Get into the car," one of them ordered, causing me to furrow my brows. What the fuck?
I voiced my concerns not a moment later. "Excuse me?"
The other one stepped forward as if he was threatening me. I looked him up and down. Who the fuck was he stepping to like that? "Ma'am, you're gonna need to get into the car willingly before we force you to."
Force me to? I only stared at him, debating on whether or not I was gonna bash his head into the car he was threatening me to get into in front of any passers-by. I was then reminded of the exact thing I was on my way to work on: the peace pacts. If I exacted any violence, that wouldn't be setting the right example.
Still, though, I was tempted.
After a few seconds of eying them both, I realized I not only knew them, but I also understood what was happening here.
These were some of Marcel's old vampires.
And they were compelled.
Damnit. I glanced to the car behind them. I was willing to bet money that, inside that very car, sat Klaus. I rolled my eyes. A week ago, I would've been more put off by this, and I was, but I was more annoyed than anything.
I'd find some way to get him to trust me later, but if I didn't get into this car right now, then he'd only become even more suspicious of me, and I didn't need that.
I shook my head in disbelief that I was even gonna do this, gesturing for them to move so I could get into the car. One of them opened the back door for me and I got in.
I turned to my left, fully expecting Klaus to be sitting next to me, but instead I was met with the sight of a blonde with big, voluminous curls and bright blue eyes. Despite fitting into the dumb blonde mold exactly, I knew she was anything but.
This was Rebekah Mikaelson.
I (hopefully) hid my shock quickly, but my eyes still narrowed. My mind raced, wondering what the hell she could possibly want from me. I first jumped to conclusions, but I shut them down immediately, knowing that there was no way anyone knew I was related to the Mikaelsons, including the Mikaelsons themselves.
While I'd been visiting the Abattoir often, Rebekah was basically nowhere to be found. I never would've guessed that this was how I'd be meeting her, being pushed into a car by vampires acting like they were secret service. But, with the Mikaelsons, so far nothing has gone as I expected it.
When she turned to me, she didn't stop and observe me first like her brother did. I'd learned from my research that Rebekah Mikaelson was impulsive, possibly even more so than Klaus. So it didn't surprise me when she cut right to the chase.
"You must be Y/N," she said. Her voice sounded like honey and a smile was on her lips, but it didn't take rocket science to know that it was all an act. "I'm Rebekah Mikaelson, but I'm sure you're already aware of that."
I was. And so I said that. "I am."
She hummed at my response, indirectly reminding me so much of Klaus. She pressed a button to her side, causing the partition to roll up, never looking away from me once. Her smile then quickly dropped. "What are you doing with Marcel?"
Now, I couldn't hide the surprise on my face. "What?"
"You heard me," she asserted, unwilling to elaborate any further and just continuing to look at me, waiting for a reply.
Out of all the reasons she could've pulled me into this car, that one had never even crossed my mind. I paused for a few seconds, thinking over how I'd respond. I knew Rebekah and Marcel had history, and Rebekah had created a reputation for herself as not only being a lover, but a rather possessive one.
Saying the wrong thing here could get me into a tight situation I did not want to be in, so I had to be sure that my words wouldn't piss her off. "He's my friend," I told her, but she didn't look very convinced.
"Really?" She questioned, sarcasm noticeable in her voice. "Are you so cozy with all of your friends? Because you both looked rather close in that café." So she was watching us.
I backtracked, remembering how he kissed me on the cheek on his way out. I see how that could look bad to some people, especially his ex-girlfriend who seemed much more attached to him than he let on. From the way Marcel told the story, him and Rebekah were over, but the way she was acting didn't suggest that at all.
Suddenly, Camille was brought to the forefront of my mind. "We are close," I defended. "I've known him a long time, and we're just friends." I could've left it there—should've left it there, but with Cami on my mind I couldn't help but add, "Besides, he has a girlfriend."
Rebekah narrowed her eyes at me; although, something told me she was already conscious of that little fact. Her jaw tensed, making me more alert. While Elijah and even Klaus wouldn't immediately deal with their problems physically, I knew Rebekah was a different story.
She was smart, don't get me wrong, but if there was something to know about her it was that her emotions overpowered her mind more often than not. She was impulsive, and so this could go real bad, real quick.
I had to get out of this.
I decided to just say something instead of letting her make the first move. If I said something first, then I could take control of the situation and spin it before she could.
"Look," I started. "Marcel and I have a completely platonic relationship." Well, not completely, but I wasn't gonna tell her that. "After we met, I was just helping him keep things running smoothly in the Quarter, the same thing I'm doing with your family now."
While her expression remained blank, I could tell I was swaying her in the right direction. She just needed one last push. "We talk so often because of Davina. She's important to both of us, and we just want to make sure she gets the childhood she deserves." Her eyes immediately softened, and I knew I got her.
Davina was just a child. As ruthless as Rebekah could be, she still had humanity inside her—Marcel had told me this time and time again when he was under the influence. There was something in her that he fell for, and it was her ability to care when she really wanted to.
She finally looked away from me. "I understand," she said. If I knew anything about her, then I knew she was probably embarrassed right now. It turned out that Rebekah's emotional nature had actually helped, not harmed. "Sorry for the inconvenience," she apologized, but her eyes never met mine.
She rolled the partition back down, telling the driver to stop the car and unlock the doors. "You're free to go, Y/N." I stared at her for a few seconds, wondering if there was anything else I was supposed to say, but I came up empty. So I just got out of the car and watched as they drove away right after.
Once I could no longer see the car, I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.
I just met Rebekah Mikaelson.
And I just barely dodged a bullet. I directed my thoughts away from freaking out because I just met yet another member of my family to how I was gonna fix the problem I had.
I couldn't keep tiptoeing on this tight-rope around the Mikaelsons. Sooner or later, I'd fall. I needed to do something to get them, all of them, to trust me. If they caught me at the right time, then everything could be exposed.
I had all of these thoughts running through my mind until a light bulb went off, and all of the puzzle pieces suddenly assembled themselves into a clear picture.
I knew what to do.
I had my show of good faith.

Elijah covered Gia's body and stood up. You stood by him and looked sorrowfully at Gia's body. You didn't know much about her but she didn't deserve to die because of Klaus. Klaus was so angry and killing Gia was his revenge.
"I'm so sorry about Gia, if I had been here she wouldn't have died" You told you boyfriend.
"That's alright, nothing could have stopped Klaus from killing her." Elijah hugged you from your side and kissed your cheek and turned to camille, who had just drank blood to heal herself.
"are you ok?" you asked in concern and she nodded in response.
"now that you're healed, what did you mean by Klaus had a plan? we had a plan, a plan he has mercilessly destroyed!" Elijah exclaimed in anger. You caressed his back and he calmed down.
"our plan wouldn't have worked elijah" Camille spoke up and both of you looked at her with confusion.
"when Klaus got into my head, he said your plan would fail so he had to enact one of his own"
"and what's this plan of his?" you asked her.
"he has to get her to link to him" Camille told you both and you gasped.
"My brother wishes to bind himself to our enemy? she'll be virtually indestructible." Elijah said as he separated from you and walked closer to her.
"he said I had to convince you guys that everything he had to do, he had to do alone." Camille explained and you groaned.
"he is so stupid! he could get killed! he always thinks he has to do everything on his own and thinks on his own and he doesn't ask for help" you said in frustration as you ran your hands through your hair.
"you had the wrong ingredients to kill dahlia and he has to buy time before he finds the right ones." camille explained further.
"how?" Elijah asked.
"he is going to use the dagger on himself" Camille said and your eyes widened.
"with dahlia's life linked to his, she'll drop dead with him." you realised what Klaus's plan was.
"I'm really sorry about your friend." Camille told him.
"are you?" Elijah questioned.
"I'm not condoning klaus's actions. I'm trying to help you. All I know is, Klaus will do whatever he has to do for-" Camille was probably about to say for family but elijah cut her off.
"Klaus will do whatever he has to do for Klaus! now hayley is not answering her phone. what has he done?" Elijah interrogated.
"don't blame the messenger" you turn around and saw rebekah, the real rebekah, and Marcel, coming into the compound. It was so good to see Rebekah in her old body again, she was forced into another body for so long you never thought she would go back to her old body ever again.
"Rebekah" You smiled widely and ran and hugged her and she hugged back.
"Ava, it's good to see you" Rebekah said as she hugged you back.
"no hug for me?" Marcel asked with a smiled and arms opened as you and Rebekah pulled away. you rolled your eyes and smiled as you ran to hug him and after awhile, pulled away.
"rebekah" Elijah spoke and looked at her from head to toe, surprised to see her in her old body.
"looks like Niklaus has a lot on his to-do list last night, and as for hayley" Rebekah started.
"what happened to her?" you asked.
"When Klaus attacked me, he stole the spell that i used on the crescent wolves" Marcel explained.
"so he would condemn her to the body of a beast?" Elijah asked.
"Hayley will be human once a month." Rebekah told everyone.
"Are you saying she can only see her baby once a month?" You couldn't believe Klaus would do this to Hayley.
"Not for long. we will find her and we help her. But for now we have to focus on those who need saving today. Freya called, Dahlia is incapacitated, they are two hours north at orchard near Pear River, she has Hope." Rebekah told you guys and you knew Elijah would want to go there as fast as he could.
"Take me with you" Elijah nodded and carried you bridal style and sped out of the compound and to where Freya was.
"well my adage holds, nothing good ever happens in a clearing in the woods" Freya said and you chuckled as you and Elijah walked up to her.
"nothing good ever happens where my brother is concerned, with one exception." he looked over at Hope.
"How is she?"
"she's a Mikaelson, she's resilient." Freya said.
"can I hold her?" You asked and Freya nodded and handed Hope over to you.
"hello Hope, you know your auntie Ava? I'm your cool Aunt" you cooed and Freya chuckled. Elijah smiled at your cuteness and walked over to where Dahlia and Klaus were.
"When I woke, they were like this." Freay told you guys.
"Rebekah tells me Klaus has a plan kill to Dahlia, that he knew our plan would not work" Freya said.
"Yes, according to him, our ingredients were incorrect." Elijah explained.
"Klaus infiltrated Dahlia's mind. you didn't break her heart, we needed the blood of the witch she loved most, and you are not that witch, your mother is." You continued explaining to her while rocking Hope.
"So we need esther. well that's impossible, I killed her" Freya told you guys.
"one incarnation" Elijah told Freya and you saw the uneasy expression on Freya's face and felt bad for her.
"Our mother is burried in New Orleans. Niklaus wants us to revive the original body." Elijah explained and Freya nodded.
"Let's get back to the compound" Elijah said and he went over and carried Klaus to the back of the truck before going over to Dahlia and carried her and placed her beside Klaus while you took Hope's carrier to the back seat of the truck and placing her gently into the carrier. Freya got into the passenger seat before Elijah got into the driver seat and drove off.
Once you guys reached the compound, Elijah called Marcel to carry Dahlia in while he carried Klaus and you carried Hope into the compound. you put Hope's carrier on the fountain and took her out of the carrier and went over to the Mikaelsons. You saw that Marcel was bent over Klaus and poking his arm.
"Nik is demented." He stated.
"are we really to dig up our mother, burn her to ash, swap said ash for Kol's and then trick Davina into using her last chance to bringing someone back from the dead, not to mention we lose the opportunity to save Kol, if Davina doesn't turn us inside out?" Rebekah asked.
"and we will just be killing Esther again after all this so we're just back to square one" you added and everyone turned to you.
"what? I'm just saying what we're all thinking" you shrugged your shoulders.
"we could also dig a deep hole and leave both our problems at the bottom of it" Elijah spoke up.
"I say we choose a more permanent option, find the white oak stake, kill Klaus, Dahlia dies with him." Freya suggested.
"oh yea, and so do I, and every other vampire that Klaus has turned." Marcel told her.
Suddenly you heard a trickling noise and you turned your head and looked at Klaus and your eyes widened.
"um, guys, we got a situation" Everyone looked towards your direction and saw that the dagger in Klaus's chest is melting.
"The dagger is bloody melting." Rebekah swore as Elijah knelt down next to Klaus.
"We have no choice but to finish the task niklaus has set." Elijah said out loud and everyone nodded.
"Rebekah and I will go get our mother's ashes while Marcel and Freya will stay here and find Kol's ashes." Elijah explained.
"what about me? I want to help too." You told him.
"darling, you can help by taking care of Hope, where it's safe, I don't want you to get hurt from this." Elijah told you and you scoffed.
"I can take of myself, I'm a witch from the most powerful coven and have been training with Freya for so long" you retaliated.
" I know but Dahlia is a thousand years old, she's way more powerful than you. Please, we don't have time to argue." Elijah says and you couldn't say anything and just nodded.
Rebekah and Elijah left and Freya and Marcel started looking for Kol's ashes. You weren't going to stay there and do nothing so you left for Hope's room and kissed her before placing her gently in her crib.
"I'm sorry baby, auntie Ava have got some work to do" you said and left the room, making sure to put a spell so that no one can enter into the room unless it's one of your friends. you looked for Freya and Marcel, where they were in one of the rooms, looking for Kol's ashes.
"I thought you were supposed to take care of Hope?" Marcel asked.
"I'm not going to just sit around doing nothing when I can be of use. plus i'm with you guys, nothing will happen. and don't worry I put a boundary spell around Hope's room so no one can go in unless it's one of us" you told him and Freya and Marcel nodded.
"Elijah said Klaus kept Kol's ashes in a blue urn, what he didn't do was narrow the field. Heaven forbid one thing not be a damn secret in this family." Marcel explained as he continued to search while you started searching the cabinets.
"Yet, despite your anger, here you are, casting your lot with Klaus. Is that because you believe his plan's going to work?" Freya asked.
"That is the Mikaelson paradox, you want to love and kill each other all at the same time." Marcel said.
"you got that right" you scoffed. The three of you continued to search for the urn. you missed Kol, even though he could be a hard ass, he would still look out for you whenever necessary. you promised yourself to continue to look for a spell to bring him back from the dead after all this was over.
"look who got lucky" you turned and saw Marcel bringing out the urn from a cabinet and looked inside when his smile dropped as you and Freya walked towards him. He flipped the urn and nothing came out of it and you sighed.
"either you have a curious definition of luck or someone got to those ashes before we did." You told him.
"all right we better find a way to stop that dagger from melting because if the theif is who i think it is, we've got a problem." Marcel said out loud.
"I've got an idea, but Ava I need your help." Freya said and you nodded as the 3 of you went to Klaus.
"Just follow my lead" Freya started chanting and you copied her as she poured salt onto the dagger. It was no use, the dagger is still melting.
"It's no use, we can't slow her magic, everything we're trying fails." Freya said and Marcel ran his fingers through his hair. suddenly you heard creaking and you turned to the stairs and saw vines and leaves growing towards upstairs and towards Hope's room. Dahlia is trying to get to Hope.
"There's got to be a way to kill her" Marcel said.
"there is" you looked at Freya and saw her taking out the white oak stake.
"No! Freya!" Both you and Marcel lunged towards Freya to try and stop her but she used her magic to back you guys to the stairs.
"Please Freya, you don't have to do this, we will find another way." You practically begged her to stop what she was doing and think for a second.
"do you really want to kill your own brother? the family you always wanted." Marcel added in.
"This is the family I longed for, but because of her, i'll always be alone." Freya lifted the stake and plunged it towards Klaus's chest but was stopped by Klaus, who had just woken up.
"Sister" Klaus said as he held her hand with both of his and you sighed with relief. Freya let you and Marcel go and she helped Klaus up as Dahlia got up.
"I'm almost impressed by the lengths you'd go to for your little girl, though not enough to let bygones be." She reached out and the stake from Freya's hand flew into hers
"we are still linked, dear aunt. you may not way to punish me with that particular weapon." Klaus said as he walked forward towards Dahlia.
"Hmm, I made sure that the link between us melted along with the dagger. Meaning, i'm quite free to kill you." Dahlia said and Klaus's face dropped. She used her magic to pull Klaus towards her and was about to kill him but Marcel ran forward and saved Klaus. Dahlia used this time to transport you and Freya to hope's room even though you had placed a boundary spell and took a little bit of hope's blood before teleporting to someplace you didn't know. Dahlia started dragging you and Freya inside an abandoned warehouse.
"2 centuries ago, this city hung its traitors right here, I thought it was only fitting that it be your slaughtering grounds." Dahlia told Freya.
"why'd you bring Ava here. she didn't betray you" Freya asked her.
"she may not have betrayed me, but she is the firstborn of the most powerful covern, I can use her as my power source. not to mention all of you care for her, it would be a good punishment to make you guys see her suffer while you stand there and aren't able to do anything." You feared the worse as she dragged you and Freya inside and made you guys kneel before her as she place a boundary spell around you guys.
"I actually pity you, over the course of our long lives together, I could see you were broken, I used to think it was my fault, but in time, I've learned your ability to love died long ago" Freya said with tears forming in her eyes.
"Darkness isn't born you know, it's created, by snuffing out of a light. so however you thought you might mend me, please no you never could. Whenever I looked into your eyes, I saw your mother, the sister who turned my heart to stone, and with that stone I will crush each and everyone of her children." Dahlia told her. She came to your side and cut your wrist and collected some of your blood.
"what are you doing?" Freya asked her but Dahlia ignored her. she cut her hand and blood dripped from her hand and she started chanting.
"she's linking me to her, I can feel it." you told Freya.
"I'm so sorry Ava, you should never have had to be dragged into my family's drama." Freya said with tears in her eyes. you could feel you eyes welling up too.
"that's not your fault, I knew the risk when I started dating a Mikaelson and I still stuck by, and I would do it all over again if it meant being with Elijah." you said with a smile. you had a plan of your own and you started chanting and you transported yourself spiritually/physically (you'll get it later) to where Klaus was as he is the only one who could help you with the plan

Finding their Mate
Tumblr media
A/N: This feels like I wrote an entire series, but it was simple headcanons, which I've found to be oddly fun to do from time to time
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Freya
After everything that happened with her aunt Dahlia and her giving up everything for her family to live their best lives (without her). Can you imagine how surprised she is to find out that you two are mates; the girl is baffled beyond baffled. She doesn't pursue you when she learns the truth. If you two are friends and she has feelings for you, she'll begin to pull away a bit which leads to you confronting her and asking why she's acting the way she is because it feels like things are weird and you don't want to deal with weird. You have a hard time making friends or finding people who can tolerate you. One awkward conversation later, you two share a kiss and are on a date. I mean, if you consider you watching her practice a spell while she tries not to blush too much as a date, there you have it
Finn
Before his mother forced this life of eternal damnation onto him even if it was due to losing his youngest brother. There is one thing he never anticipated finding... you, his mate. If anyone had told him mates were real and he would meet his soon, he'd probably think you were insane. And that's saying a lot since his life has been revolving around the supernatural since he was a child. Meeting you certainly helped him through this new life, but it didn't do much when he finds himself daggered at the hands of his brother. Knowing you were out there on your own dealing with him family drove him crazy, but he didn't know you asked to be turned to live with him (imagine his surprise when he awoke nine hundred years later and found you). After talking with you, he can't imagine living without you and thanks his lucky stars for you
Elijah
When his memories came back of how he harmed Tatia, he was less enthusiastic about pursuing another female. But Davina made a friend in you (because you helped her bring Kol back) and that was the end of it. It didn't trigger that you two had met years ago until he saw the three of you enjoying breakfast together. His memories came flooding back to him and he realized that you weren't in your original body yet, hence where his younger brother got the idea to do so, trying to find the doppelgänger. You two slowly began bonding and then came the hardest time in your relationship, he lost his memories, his mind would never let him forget your face. He never knew until he and Klaus were at their end, but his brother admitted your death to him and explained that's why he has an ache in his heart. A werewolf had gotten you while you were protecting Hope. He never got to admit how sorry he was for hurting you, not until he saw you standing there, waiting for him with Hayley by your side
Klaus
He didn't believe it for a second, thought it was a hoax; thought it was something the witches cooked up to blackmail him. But the more he saw you, the more his heart raced and the more his need for you grew stronger. Not to mention the fact that his wolf didn't help, the voice calling and wanting him to take you for his own so they can claim you as theirs. He knew he was dangerous and that's why he did all he could to stay away from you in the beginning when he ever so slowly begins to accept that your fates are tied to one another. There was no way he'd let you be put in danger due to his issues or because you're associated with his family. After you manage to protect Hope and yourself while defending him and his name, he thinks maybe his family wasn't lying when they said you two were fated mates, destined to be together (perfect for one another eve). He was more than hesitant to try and form a relationship with you. You had to be the one to take the step and make things right and stop the aches n both your hearts
Kol
He initially planned on using you as leverage since he knows his brother cares about you (whether it was platonic or not). But then, there was this little spark you had and not just because you managed to shock him with your powers, to escape from him and his mother. After that he knew he had to know you, someone who is genuine friends with his half-brother and can take care of themself in they ever needed to. That one hell of a keeper and there was no way he could let you go. So, yeah, he's going to try and become your friend (only after you reject him when he asks you to go out on a date). Then when Davina tried to help him return to his body, she came to you and knew you'd be able to help more than anyone because working alone isn't enough. No one, supernatural or not, cannot deny the bond between mates. You two confessed to one another once he came back from the supernatural purgatory, in his original body, and that was that
Rebekah
After watching her brother kill almost all her lovers and ruining any chance she had at a love life, she found it hard to believe that she was offered a chance at having someone fated to be hers. Someone her brother couldn't kill without causing her severe harm. She loves too hard and fast, she knows that, but she can't help it. Now that mates are thrown into the mix, she is a little hesitant at starting something with you, but she also knows how you are (being allies with her family helped her learn more about you). Then when her siblings find their mates and watches how happy they are, she can't help but basically run into your arms and confess that she feels the bond too and wants to start a relationship with you (and if you hate Elena, that's such a bonus for her)
Hope
When she lost her parents and her Uncle Elijah, she never imagined anything good would come into her life. Always believing herself to be cursed and imagining loads of misery would continue to come her way even as she genuinely tries to let good things into her life. Then you came into play, and she was floored. First off, you're the most good-looking person she's ever seen, Landon does not compare whatsoever. But it also is more of a reason for her hesitation when it comes to interacting with you or her just trying to get to know you. You knew right away who she was to you, another reason why you wanted to talk to her, figure out how you would fit into her life. You started to pursue her, not ready to give up even as she continuously turns you down, waiting until she'll accept you. After some time, she decided to try and have her own epic love like her parents and uncle Elijah did. She doesn't regret it
Hayley
After learning the truth about her family, she didn't expect to hear that mates were a thing. Then as soon as she stepped foot in New Orleans, imagine her surprise when she met not one but two wolves who continuously looked out for her. She manages to bond with one of the two wolves right away, slightly alarmed at how easy it was to spot you in your wolf while she is out in town. Then came a full moon where she met Jackson, who may or may not, have known who the wolf was and told her, about you and your back story or the bond you two share. Unfortunately for her, you were cursed differently. Only when you find your mate on a full moon and they accept you, will you be able to turn into your human form again. She searched three moons before finding you and she thanked her bloodline for giving her someone so, well, you. You're more than she could have ever known
Davina
With everything she went through before and after learning about everything witch wise, finding a lover much less a mate was the furthest thing on her mind. After she came back from the other side and was dealing with the ancestors' punishment, you entering her life was more a blessing. Which is something she and Marcel can easily agree on. Then you put in the effort to learn about her, just as she starts to find herself, accepting everything she's done and what the other witches keep doing to her; you stay by her side is what's kept her together. She would never admit it out loud to you but ever since you had entered her life, it was more of a blessing than anyone even realized. She continues to thank her lucky stars every day once the two of you are together. You are more than she could have ever imagined, and she'll do whatever she can to protect you because there's a lot that goes on in town
Marcel
After Klaus pulled his siblings out of town after the fire and the Mikaelson's thinking he was dead, losing Rebekah... he never thought he'd get the happy ending he wanted. But then, he was out at his favorite bar, trying to charm the pants off Camille (yet again) and you waltzed in, changing his life for the better. He never knew why his heart was so full and pounding so hard until Elijah told him. Finding out that mates were a thing? He was... safe to say pleased because like the man who treated him like a son always said, a king must have a queen (or king, in some cases). And you, my dear, are his royal highness lover from now until death and that could take a while. He will always do whatever he can to give you whatever you want to keep you happy and satisfied. He wants you to feel like you can rely on him for anything and everything, which kind of makes him look like a sugar daddy with all the new things he buys you

The truth hurts, doesn’t it? | Agents Of SHIELD Fanfic
Tumblr media
Summary: Everything good must have been an interesting lie underneath it all, waiting to be uncovered, but the question is how will you take it?
Pairing: Grant Ward x OC, Grant Ward & Amelia Parker (WardParker)
Setting: Captain America The Winter Solider and Agents Of SHIELD season 1
Spoilers for Agents Of SHIELD 1x17–1x20
Warning: Blood, mentions of anxiety, heartbreak, a bit of manipulation, betrayal
Characters mentioned: Nikolai, Marlene, Melissa, Coulson, Fury, May, Skye, Fitzsimmons, Tripp and The Young Avengers
——
It felt like madness. The air was thick and colder than they would’ve liked. The team was tired, confused and more or less worried. Trying to figure out what to do next and how to stick together while doing so. There were some agents coming in and out of the bunker, they were even set underneath an lie detector and all passed with flying colors.
The cell service was better than expect, they had food, water, and shelter that’s what matters.
It was a late afternoon when it happened.
Practically night.
Everyone was doing their own thing. Some were trying to rest like Fitz and Jemma, some were on computers doing research such as Skye, and others were training themselves for the bigger fight near the locker area.
Amelia felt on edge, these last few weeks it was like a nervous twitch creeping up on her waiting to snap. She wasn’t thinking straight about anything, as far as they knew Fury is dead. Hell, she wasn’t sure if Nikolai, Marlene, or Melissa were fully aware of the situation in place, even though she sent an critical message to them.
She knew that none of the young avengers or adults one had any clue about what exactly was happening, due to the truth of Coulson’s death was kept from most of them. But HYDRA creeping around wasn’t something truly hidden per say…
Sometimes she felt like it was this shivering headache that reached from the back of her neck toward the front of her forehead. This whole situation bothered her to the inch of her bones, this chilling adventure she didn’t remember signing up for in the first place.
Maybe she needed a nap? Watch a video to relax her mind? Hell, splash some water crossed her face to try and clear her head?
Walking past the supply room, she left oddly enough weary like she was missing something. It was just her anxiety seeping itself, as she thought. An odd feeling recklessly filled the rest of the area, as she scurried into one of the restrooms.
Closing the door behind her, she let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. Her joints hurt, twisting themselves into her shoulders as she rested her arms against the bathroom sink. Her vision went blurry for a moment, her back arched froward as she unzipped her jacket to breathe and roll up her sleeves.
She turned on the knobs as she splashed some cold water on her face, wiping her eyes browns and rubbed her eyelids facing the mirror for a quick second. She mumbled a few things to herself, wishing she was back on the bus with her friends like nothing happened, but she knew it couldn’t do a blasted thing about it. She grabbed an towel to dry her face, as she wiped her face out of the corner of her eye she noticed something that set her off.
An automatic sliding painting that was supposed to set to afternoon, was lowing a hushed flickering light. She clenched the towel against her fist stepping forward to notice an dagger, a small knife, stabbed into the edge of the painting. It was waiting to bent over and break, there was a hatch breathe in Amelia’s throat as she removed it from the placing.
The painting slid upwards to display a horrific glint of flickering lights as the slashing words ran across the screen. The sunset frame brushed against the wording in deep gashes.
Tumblr media
Amelia blinked, gasping a shaky breath that catches in her throat. She shakes her head at the wording in disbelief, as if she couldn’t do anything but freeze. Her fingernails were pressed so hard against her palm, she would’ve drawn blood.
“N-no..” She mumbled underneath her breath, “..no, no..no!”
Suddenly her voice became so small, her eyes waters and her mouth went dry. The denial sinks in so fast, she stumbled back hesitant to run her fingers across the painting.
“It’s not him..” She muttered softly accidentally dropping the towel on the floor, unable to breathe once again and laced in shock.
Ward Is Hydra.
The words ran by her eyesight in pure shock. She thought it was a trick, some sort of joke being made to use her own wits against the team. Amelia heard people saying that Coulson or May might be Hydra, that even one of their agents might play a game to see who’s loyal or not.
Someone knew about this before her, but they couldn’t. They all passes every single test with—
An loud noise startled Amelia, hands of her hips as she ran her hands above her waistline stumbling out of the room shaking her head taking another glance at the sign. She practically slid down the hallway, tripped over her steps stopped inside one of the supply closets to find Jemma racing out of the room at the same time as she entered.
She narrowed her vision in confusion, sending a odd look to her teammates. They were field agents but also scientists and technicians who weren’t used to this whole thing, so it was understandable if they was uneasy with whatever they saw. But it couldn’t be that bad, right?
Wrong!
The moment she wiped her head inside the room, the sight would’ve had her screaming if it weren’t for her biting her buttons lip and gripping the doorknob. There was a blush of heated dripping liquid slowly hitting the floor from above, as her gaze followed it towards the red drops, her eyes widened.
Blood from a fellow agent, laying dead against the ceiling and high shelves. Their eyes were closed, killed in the late hours of the afternoon in a dark supply closet. Amelia was left in utter tears, silence and shockingly loud noise ringing in her heads. She felt hurt and heavy, wonder where the hell is the rest of the team.
Amelia felt like she might throw up, fumbling with her pocket trying to reach her phone as her other hand cover her mouth. She tried reaching Nikolai and no response, Marlene and no response and even Melissa had no single response. There was a mole in the bunker.
Skye was still upstairs doing research, as Amelia raced upstairs to face her as she whisper yelled, “Skye! What do you know?”
She looked up with a gasping glare, “I’m guessing you know?”
“Yes! And it’s not him..it can’t be him!”
“You don’t know that..Ward has lied to us, Amelia..he’s Hydra.”
“He lied to the team! But I have known that man for 4 years, Skye! 4 years!”
“You think I like this?! I fell for the man, I kissed him..I still think I love him..”
“Oh god..okay, maybe this is just a game right? Ward treats us different, something’s not right..”
“…you still feel like you love him, don’t you?”
“Well the truth hurts, doesn’t it Skye? We just gotta play along.”
“I’m already doing that, I feel hurt Amelia. But I’m gonna follow Ward, see what’s going on in his head and if something happens.”
“Okay, yeah..okay. I’ll try to see who I can contact and prepare for whatever Ward thinks he might pull..”
There was an unspoken sense of urgency in their eyes. Grant Ward is Hydra but that concern and confusion hurt both of their feelings.
Mainly Amelia’s heart.
It felt like the five stages of grief, sadness and anxiety was rushing across her veins. She felt alone, betrayed and abandoned, even though she wasn’t, it felt that way.
———
The next 48 hours was a world wind..
So many things happened, from unexpected agents trying ambushing the bunker and buildings to the news about some of their fellow agents dying protecting the property of SHIELD. No one knew who was right or wronged here, who’s good and who’s bad. Fitz and Simmons were off doing their own thing for Coulson, May have gone with a couple of glares, Tripp rushed off to get extra stuff, and John Garrets got into a fight with Coulson.
Hell, Skye was sharing a few short moments with Ward himself.
Honestly Amelia felt bad for Skye, she knew she felt deeply for Ward since their chemistry climbed upon the time they all spend together on the plane. She also knew Grant felt some very similar feelings for her, as he was teased about it from the team.
She was still trying to contact her friends but nothing came up, tears rising to be released. She felt nauseous, a little numb and bruised. As if she was in the middle of a hot flash.
Currently, she sat nearby couch of a decently small room with her head in her hands, tiredly sighing. The door gently opened as in came the man of the hour, noticing her downing look as he looked at the girl in concern.
Tumblr media
He sat down beside her, leaning against one of the chairs and asked, “Sweetheart..are you okay?”
“Hm?” She replied, peeking in between her hands to look at him.
“What happened?”
“You really asking me that?”
He scoffed, “Yeah, I know what’s happening. I wish it wasn’t like this but we can’t do anything about it.”
“It feels like I’m being caught in a horror movie.” She added.
“What? Like Scream? Who’s the killer?”
“One of our agents..we don’t know who’s on our side or not.”
“More like multiple agents, you don’t know who is really involved in SHIELD or HYDRA. You probably think I can’t be trusted, Ames.”
“Ward, honey, I trust you. I do. But the question is, will you actually be telling me the truth or not..”
“I alway try to tell you the truth, even if it hurts.”
At that moment, she removed her hands from her face and turned to face him, “Oh really?”
He straightened his shoulders seeing the look on her face as he sighed, “Amelia, are you seriously asking me that?”
“Grant, you lied to me before about missions to keep me and the team safe. You could be lying to me right now.”
“And you lied to me more than once to keep me in the loop. I’m being honest here. Do you trust me?”
“Do you trust enough to tell me the truth?”
~~~
And there it was again. The line that has been repeatedly said by one another the moment they trained, to the times the group was on the road for missions. Even in moments of daring action, where it might result in something serious or stupid.
The glances, the nods, the smiles or smirks, the pointing and the questions..
Do you trust me?
It hurts how much those words carried so much, such as a heavyweight question to them.
~~~
They both sat there in silence. The silence was so loud, it was painful to even notice the smell of their perfume and cologne that filled the room. Ward could see the oddly wave of emotions that washed over her face, it honestly felt like he was ripping her heart out of her chest.
He hated seeing her upset, it’s why Grant practically took a beating from his boss, Garret, when the man told him how soft he gets around the people he cared for. And he won’t admit it but it’s true. Deep down he cared about Amelia, Daisy, Fitz and Jemma. He respected Coulson and May. Especially with how much time he spent with the team was placed into.
“Do you trust us? Did you even love me?” Said a small broken voice that belonged to Amelia, looking down at her hands, her fingers were laced with cuts and small gashes.
“Oh my god, Ames..” He replied, standing up as he went to sit down next to her grabbing her hand gently, “..of course, I trust you. You know I love you, I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you if it meant you would feel like this.”
“I’ve known you for 4 years Grant. 4 years, I have stood by your side fighting on the ground and the skies to make sure everyone was safe, to come home safe and sound. As a team and now..”
“4 years and I don’t regret anything, none of our time together. I can explain whatever it is that is crossing your mind.”
~~
Tumblr media
She knows. He knows.
~~
Amelia wiped her head over to see him and asked, “Can you?! Can you look me in the eye and tell me you are on the same team?”
“You weren’t meant to get hurt! You and I were always on the same team, don’t you dare think that there is anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you!” Grant replied yelling, hesitant to let her hand go.
“I swear, you weren’t even on the same team to beginning with! You were loyal to HYDRA.”
“No. I wasn’t ever loyal to HYDRA, if anything I would say I’m loyal to Garret.”
“You killed people.”
“And you haven’t?”
“I..”
“The last few days you have shot down unexpected agents, not knowing if they were on your side or not. You and I are just trying to protect ourselves here! That’s all what we’re trying to do.”
“Were you ever gonna tell me?”
“Of course I was. Garret wanted you dead! I couldn’t let that happen! I’m trying to protect you here, I was just trying to protect all of us.”
“By keeping this secret from me? I know you are never one to talk about how you feel, but this..this should’ve been something you should’ve told me..”
“And have you act like this towards me? I told you years ago, I’m not a good man, Ames..and yet you stood by me. You and Skye decided to stay beside me no matter how bad it got.”
“And I said ‘yes you are.’ But right now, i just can’t imagine what I should and shouldn’t believe here. Was I pawned in your little lie, huh? Was I?”
Tumblr media
At some point both of them were standing up, pacing the room grunting and groaning in annoyance. The room felt like it was heating up due to the argument that forming between them.
Tears were forever forming in her eyesight, running her fingers across her hair as her eyebrows furrowed as her glares softened. She was hurt, she more than hurt and her emotions were breaking in front of her. Tears that being hold back for more than 48 hours finally were getting to see the light of day.
He sighed deeply, wishing he didn’t see those tears, knowing that he will have to deal with Skye later on but this, he looked away from. His hands rested on his hips shaking his head, his anger was rising and his annoyance was taking form. This wasn’t the plan, she wasn’t supposed to get hurt. It wasn’t supposed to be personal for any of them.
“No. You weren’t ever part of the plan nor a pawn, Ames. Believe me, I didn’t expect you to come into my life and change things up!” Grant admitted closing his eyes shut, “It’s over. It’s done, i can’t do anything about it. For once in my life I wanted something that was for me, not Garret giving me orders here! And you came in, yes I lied to you but it wasn’t personal..I swear it wasn’t!”
“Oh, but i think it was! Please, Grant I’m begging you..you’re living a double life here! Getting so close, yet so far to people. I didn’t expect for you to come into my life but you did!” She admitted, “..you were..you lied to me. You lied to me. Don’t hurt Skye, more you than probably are already.”
“I won’t regret getting here and I won’t think about hurting Skye. But Ames, someday you will understand what i have gone through to keep you safe because I love you..”
“So why does it hurt so bad? What are you gonna do next? Lock me up in here? Because your definition of keeping me safe from it all sounds like a hell lot of lies..why?”
“Everything i ever felt for you was real, don’t you get it?! But I won’t betray Garret..”
“..because me and the team woke up a weakness inside of you. I..i don’t know what to think, or believe right now, alright?! I..i..”
Tumblr media
Amelia felt weak, not like an agent of shield or anything. Just hurt, broken, betrayed as she crumbled underneath her feet about to walk away.
That was when Ward gently swiftly her back in effort to calm her down as she tried fighting back.
She tried pulling away, hitting him in the chest as hard as she could, causing him to stumble back regaining his stance. Grant just held her in his arms, grabbing her wrist as she repeatedly kept hitting his chest.
“Stop! Stop it, Ames!” Ward said, practically growled at her, “You’re embarrassing yourself here. I won’t kill you or our team, i promise!”
“You promise?” She said, mumbling and stopped hitting his chest, resting her forehead against his chest instead.
“I promise. You can tell them or shout it from the rooftops, but HYDRA is already here.”
“I failed..you failed me, Grant. HYDRA is here..oh god, there’s nothing else to say.”
“I know, baby. I know..”
She just cried into his arms, banging her fist softly again his best. He wrapped kept his embrace tightly, closing his eyes and kissed her forehead before walking away.
“W-where you going?” She asked.
“It’s for your own good, Ames.” He replied.
Without a second later, Grant speeded away out the door, locking the door behind him as you can hear Amelia screams and shouted trying to unlock it. He squeezed his eyes shut and made his out of the hallway.
Amelia grunted realized what he was about to do and scrambled to search for her phone, quickly she texted Skye a message.
‘He’s coming to you.’ She messaged
She responded, ‘On it. You okay?’
‘Will be..’
‘Okay.’
———
Amelia Parker was on the verge of tears once again, anger filling up her mind and conflicted onto what was happening next.
Her next move was informing Coulson, Hill and whoever else was online about what she knows from her research. At the same time, she tried finding a way out, possibly crawling across the vent.
“T-this is agent..Amelia Parker..we found one of the moles, Hydra is dead set of seeking into whatever corner they can. Garret is one of leaders, i don’t know who’s his boss but we need extra weapons, load up the power grids at every SHIELD Facility we can. You should know that Project Insight is part of it. Keep a-any updates coming from any scanners and detectors available. And most importantly, watch your six, you..you don’t know who is your friend or foe..” She said into her voicemail, messaging anyone on her contact list.
She knew that her voice message may have come out choppy or a bit rushed per say due to the sound of her voice, but it was all she can mange at the moment. It sounds like she was exhausted and most likely finished crying before starting that message.
She was practically locked in a bunker in what feels like the middle of nowhere, with not the best service but it manageable if you knew how to handle some technical problems. She just found out that the organization, she has been working for has a lot of issues and the people she thought she knew had more secrets than she ever expected…
Of course she was a mess!
Her only hopes were that she can get out here soon, and her message was sent out to her friends and fellow actual agents. Oh heavens, did she hope her friends and loved ones were safe..

When Hayley Marshall was born, she was born as Andrea Labonair. She always thought she would be Andrea. But pain and fear drove her and her mother away from their village, away from their kind, and into the human village.
When she first set eyes on Elijah, she never thought she would spend a thousand years by his side. To stay with someone so long, to love someone so much, was inconceivable to her. But she did.
A thousand years later, their village had become the town of Mystic Falls, where a girl with mystical blood was born. Elena Gilbert was the new doppelganger, and Elijah would stop at nothing to get his siblings back, and if he cannot, avenge them.

Relationships: Slowburn Hayley Marshall/Elijah Mikaelson, Davina Claire/Kol Mikaelson, and even slowerburn Camille O'Connell/Klaus Mikaelson. Complicated Rebekah Mikaelson/Marcel Gerard.
Rated T for the moment, the rating will change later on and I will mention the exact chapter when it's time.
Summary:
All creatures hear the whispers. Words said in hushed tones about a powerful empire pulling the strings behind the curtains of this world. The Vampire Empire has risen in fear and blood, they say. The Vampire Empire will protect those who can't protect themselves, they say. But most importantly, the Vampire Empire doesn't break any promises it makes.
The Vampire Empire is the result that comes from putting power in noble hands. The hands of Elijah Mikaelson. Centuries of being in charge, and the world of vampires, witches and werewolves has only been better off with it.
Now, New Orleans has called on him, a hundred years after he had left it in ruins because each creature wanted the city for themselves. Ancient rituals, a self-proclaimed king, and cursed werewolves were awaiting him.
The one thing he had not expected was the woman who would change his life, the lives of all the Mikaelson siblings. A lost princess of the wolves, carrying the last hope his brother Niklaus had for redemption. But most importantly, Elijah's one true and last love.
Or
Klaus being Klaus. Elijah trying to fix his broken family, and to let Hayley in. Rebekah looking for love. Kol and Davina doing witchy things.

Cassie on Crack presents:
THE NERF WAR
Tumblr media
A/N: While I write part three of Rational Thinking, have this headcanon. Why? Because it's healthy to write absolute crack every once in a while. Here lies my Masterlist.
The Rules:
Head shot = you're out.
Leg shot, arm shot, chest shot, and back shot = Target joins shooter's team. (E.X: Hayley hits Marcel's arm, Marcel joins Hayley's team.)
Gut shot = Target has 10 minutes to take out as many players as possible. Gut shot enemies CANNOT be killed during this time, but die after their 10 minutes is up. If a team leader is the target of a gut shot, their team is disbanded and it's once again every man for himself.
Weapons and Ammo are hidden throughout the compound/mansion. Obtainment of weapons and ammo is up to each player. No freebies. Hiding one's own weapons and ammo stashe is completely legal.
Finder's keepers.
If a team leader is killed or shot onto another team, their previous team is disbanded and the members thereof return to free for all combat.
Butt and groin shots are cheap... and absolutely legal.
Any magical modifications to any weapon is strictly BANNED. That means no homing rounds, no cloaked stashes, and no silencing charms. (We're looking at you, Freya.)
For those without enhanced senses, perception altering charms are legal, however such magic can only be used to dull footsteps, breathing, and heartbeat. NO SILENT RELOADS.
Rule breakers are out and forced to observe for the rest of the round and the next three games.
The last player or team standing wins!
How it Starts:
In an alternate universe where everyone is alive and happy, the birth of Hope Mikaelson inspires the whole family to do better when it comes to petty disputes. This decision brings about a new Mikaelson Family tradition... THE NERF WAR...
A war can be started at any time and they can last for days. (The longest was two weeks and where Klaus was hiding that entire time remains unknown.)
The cause can vary from a serious argument to an off-handed insult. Really, it just depends how close the nearest weapon is to whomever is involved.
This particular time, Rebekah tosses a snide remark at Kol - something about being the pop-tart hog - then suddenly Kol is reaching under the table. The sound of duct tape ripping pierces the air and a loud click rings out across the compound. Rebekah cries out, holding a hand to her cheek as a little yellow sphere rolls across the table. Kol grins.
THE WAR HAS BEGUN.
The lights go out and everyone scatters, some breakfasts remain on the table - unfinished though they may be - while others seemingly disappear as fast as their respective owners.
A teenage Hope, more than sick of losing to various family members, murmurs a quick spell to dull her footsteps and breathing before rushing to the kitchen.
There, atop the cabinets she has previously hidden a Nerf bolt-action sniper rifle and six packs of ammo.
She reasons this should be enough to get her through the first hour or so for she has grown up learning her family's strategies and now plans to use their strengths against them.
Hayley finds her daughter first.
The unsired hybrid is dangerous as she's rather unpredictable. She's smart and her aim is fantastic. She is NOT to be underestimated.
"You're exposed, Hope-ers," Hayley's voice calls out from the darkness, just beyond the kitchen doorway.
Hope dives behind the kitchen island as a foam dart whizzes past her left ear. She bites her lip to contain a laugh as she shoves her first clip into her rifle.
"Didn't think you'd be coming so soon," Hope replies, inching her way to peak around the corner. She sees a dark silhouette outlined against the door frame and peaks her gun out just slightly to aim.
"Think again!" Hayley says with a chuckle.
Two more darts fly past the kitchen island, one just a hairsbreadth away from Hope's hand wrapped around the handle of her rifle.
Knowing she has little chance if she doesn't act now, Hope empties her clip as fast as she can.
Two of the rounds tag her mother in the bicep and Hayley steps out from the corner with her hands up - she's holding a post-apocalyptic lookin' thing with four revolving barrels and a slide-action reload.
"Guess you're on my team now." Hope smirks proudly, standing up from behind the island.
Hayley hugs her daughter, pressing a kiss to the teenager's forehead.
"Guess you're right."
Both take a moment to retrieve their ammo before cautiously leaving the kitchen and moving into the lower floor sitting room.
"So who should we go for first?" Hope asks in hardly a whisper - talking any louder would draw more attention then they can currently handle. She knows teams are already forming and the mother daughter duo is unlikely to last long if their numbers remain as they are.
"Aww... My baby's all grown up and plotting world domination! I'm so proud!" Hayley snickers.
Hope rolls her eyes. "Thanks mom."
"Any time, princess. Anyway, we should definitely go for Elijah. We don't want that absolute monster of a drum sneaking up behind us. I think he'll probably still be in the attic by now," Hayley hisses back, checking behind an armchair for any hidden assailants.
Elijah is the strategic one of the family; he goes floor by floor and room by room, mowing down anyone who happens to fall into his path with the biggest gun the world has ever seen. Sacrificing accuracy for sheer firepower, Elijah's weapon bears more than one hundred rounds on its own. Not to mention the various slings and bags worth of extra ammo he straps to his person at the beginning of every game. Suppression Fire is Elijah's M.O.
"Okay." Hope nods, passing by the old dumbwaiter hatch beside the bookcase.
No one's used it in years, of course... At least, that's what a very certain someone wants the family to think.
Hope smirks and waves at Hayley who regards her with a questioning look. The girl presses a finger to her lips and points at the dumb waiter shaft. She carefully tip-toes over to it and wraps her hand around the handle. Hayley nods in understanding and raises her weapon. Hope begins mouthing a count down. 3...2...1
She throws the shudder open and Hayley opens fire, Hope joining in a second later. A voice cries out in surprise from inside the shaft as mother and daughter pummel the poor sod with round after round of foam darts. There is no mercy from them.
"Alright! Alright! You've got me! I yield!"
The family likes to refer to Hope as their miracle, but the real miracle is how her father manages to jam almost six feet worth of Original Hybrid into that miniscule dumbwaiter shaft.
Positioned in there like a spider lying in wait with his arms and legs curled up to protect his face, Klaus spends the next minute or so grumbling under his breath as he somehow dislodges himself from his hiding spot.
"One of you hit my knee first," He admits, brushing off his jacket.
"Thanks for the easy win, dad!" Hope grins.
Klaus opens his mouth to object, but Hayley shoots his arm.
"Bloody hell, what was that for? I'm already on your team!"
"That was for being a camper." Hayley smirks.
That's right, Klaus Mikaelson the big bad Original Hybrid is a camper. He's always preferred to wait for his enemies to come to him and, in all fairness, his tactic is extremely effective. He wins a majority of games simply by outlasting other players. But he'll always emerge and pounce when there's only a few players left. He also keeps an enormous stash with him wherever he's hiding.
"Fork it over, Klaus," Hayley says. He rolls his eyes and reaches back into the elevator shaft, drawing forth a huge sack of darts, guns, and even a few snacks.
"Santa Klaus," Hope mutters. Her father shoots her a scathing look.
"How'd you find me anyway?" He demands, swapping his rival pistol for a tri-shot weapon that looks suspiciously like a Winchester rifle.
"Well I know you have like 8 hiding spots that you rotate every game - this is the only one I've found, though." Hope says with a shrug. Klaus' expression softens.
"Clever girl." He nods. Hope smiles.
Moving on from the sitting room, the trio hope to find a safe path to the attic.
"Status report?" Hayley whispers.
No matter where he chooses to hide, Klaus - paranoid genius that he is - always finds a way to keep track of team compositions.
"No one's had the guts to confront Elijah yet, so he's still alone which means Marcel can't be far behind. Though, I believe he's on his own as well," Klaus says.
Predictable as his tactics might be, Elijah has never been beaten by any other family member on their own.
What Elijah doesn't know, however, is that Marcel tends to follow him as he clears each room, eventually picking one to hunker down in. He then proceeds to camp with almost the effectiveness of Klaus.
The Hybrid continues-
"I do believe Keelin has managed to locate her custom bow as she has shot Freya onto her team. Freya then shot Cami in the face, so she's out of the game."
Keelin's modified bow is the bane of just about everyone's existence as it is a legal silent-load weapon. She's customized it with a more durable string and a higher draw weight, giving it greater accuracy and range. It also hurts like a mother.
Freya typically uses a semi-auto Rival assult rifle. She's a scavenger when it comes to ammo, preferring to fill her weapon with the darts other players have been foolish enough to leave behind.
Freya's solo tactic is to go straight for the kill regardless of who she's facing, while Keelin prefers to build a small team - three people at most. (That way there's fewer people to deal with should she be shot onto another team.) When the two of them team up, they are queens of the corner rooms, using any and all entrances as extremely effective ambush points.
Poor Camille has yet to win a Nerf War. She tries to use the hallways as choke points but her aim just isn't the best. Although, she is excellent at turning on her former teammates should she be shot onto another team. Her skills of escaping are unparalleled. She's also the family's best cheerleader when she gets 'killed' early on.
"As usual, no one's heard from Finn," Klaus tells with an annoyed eye-roll.
Finn practically invented the term 'silent as the grave'. No one hears him coming. Ever. Preferring foam knives, axes and swords to guns, he hides out in the darkness of the basement/dungeon, waiting for a brave wanderer to enter his domain. Although he despises being a vampire, he's learned that his undead state is not without it's advantages, such as not needing to breathe. The man will actually stop his heart and hold his breath for however long is needed in order to lull other players into a false sense of security before silently slipping out to slit their throats or stab them in the back. He's won his fair share of games this way. Oh, and his knives, axes, and swords are weighted accurately to their more lethal counterparts.
Unfortunately, Finn's not that great of a team player. He does his best work from the shadows and tends to get knocked out pretty quick otherwise. He and Cami have had some pretty fantastic conversations from the sidelines.
"Rebekah is once again queen of the courtyard," Klaus reports. There's a simultaneous groan from his other two team mates.
Despite other family members casual use of long range rifles, the youngest Mikaelson sibling is the only true sniper of the bunch.
Rebekah's infamous use of sniper rifles has won her quite a few games, though more often than not it ends up being spectacularly annoying. The blonde's favorite spot is lying prone on the actual roof, looking down over the courtyard. Her aim is impeccable and she will not hesitate to shoot her brothers out. However, Marcel and any female who happens to wander into her line of sight can just as well count themselves as the newest member of her team.
So far, Keelin and Kol are the only ones who have managed to shoot her down from that position.
Although, Rebekah does have the unfortunate tendency to underestimate the amount of ammo necessary for some of the longer games. She's most vulnerable when she ventures down from the roof to restock on ammunition. That's when other players or teams usually wait to ambush her.
"And to everyone's great surprise, Kol has allowed Davina to shoot him onto her team for the sixtieth time in a row," Klaus finishes with a grimace.
See, those two are tricky.
Davina has somehow mastered just about every Nerf weapon ever made. She'll carry several on her person and will not hesitate to switch between them at any time. Her unpredictability makes her a tough adversary to fight as she roams the maze of hallways and staircases that make up the compound's second floor.
Davina's default weapon choice for her patrol is a double barreled shotgun paired with a foam knife. Though her small stature makes for something of a disadvantage against the actual mountains of Viking that are the Mikaelson boys, it should be noted that she can and will tackle and slit the throats of anyone and everyone who crosses her path.
Kol, on the other hand, has mastered the art of being an absolute nuisance. His primary weapon is a four barreled pistol that can split into two separate pistols on command. He's the third best shot in the family and the king of dual-weilding. The variable arsenal he packs on his body is also annoying, not to mention the Nerf gatling gun he keeps strapped to his back in case of emergencies. Whether it be hiding under the main stairway or dropping down from the ceiling of a seemingly empty room, the guy is always bringing some weird new strategy to the table. More on his insane tactics later.
On their own, the witch and former witch are extremely dangerous. But together? It's a well known fact that, these two are absolutely deadly.
Kol and Davina are undisputed masters of the Sword and Shield technique. They have used it to single-handedly win dozens of games.
Back when the Nerf Wars first started, Kol managed to obtain a S.W.A.T Riot Shield. You know, those huge full body ones? Yeah. One of those. No one wants to know exactly how he got it. He holds the shield with one hand, and uses that four barreled pistol with the other. Davina stands between him and the shield, either weilding two hammer-load pistols or a fully automatic assault rifle. Together they roam the halls mowing down anyone they can find.
However, this tactic leaves them extremely vulnerable from the back and slightly weak from the sides. During a particularly long and competitive game, Finn successfully snuck up behind the two. He threw Kol to the floor and stabbed him in the back no less than twelve times before throwing a knife at Davina's head. Kol and Finn on one team was nothing short of disastrous.
Now if Kol gets separated from Davina, then things really get interesting. Kol will intentionally try to get himself shot in the gut.
He's affectionately dubbed this tactic: BERSERKER MODE.
This is when the gatling gun comes out. Within the next ten minutes the best chance any other players have to survive is simply to find the best hiding spot they can and stay as quiet as possible. He'll gladly go about slaughtering as many players as he can find, all while singing Fulsome Prison Blues.
"That's just spectacular," Hope complains softly. "Do you think they'll go for Marcel or Rebekah next?"
"Definitely Rebekah. With Kol and Marcel on a team, they'll lose any element of surprise," Hayley snorts.
On their way up to intercept Elijah, the trio encounter Freya and Keelin in the second floor study.
Battle ensues.
Hope ducks and scrambles back as Hayley dives forward and rolls behind a couch. Klaus rushes in and takes cover behind the desk, standing up every now and then to open fire on Freya and Keelin who move to flank Hayley. Freya turns to shoot Klaus but misses and in the split second it takes her to reload, Hope pokes her gun out from the doorway and hits Freya square in the jaw.
"I'm out!" She declares, raising her hands and stepping aside.
Klaus grins and makes eye contact with Hayley, together they hop up and pepper Keelin with darts.
"Ha! That's a gut shot!" She cries out a second later.
"Oh, bloody hell..." Klaus and Hayley are out of there faster than Freya can cheer. "Hope, run!"
Luckily, the wolf has to gather her foam arrows before she can go after them so that gives the trio some time. They rush through the rooms of the upper floor, not really caring who they might alert to their presence. Barring themselves in the library, they take a moment for Hope to catch her breath.
They chose the wrong room.
There's a loud whirring noise just before a spray of yellow Rival rounds attacks Hope's legs. She jumps in surprise and dives to hide behind a book case. Her other team members follow her example.
"You guys just missed Elijah," Marcel's lazy New Orleans accent draws from his hiding spot. He's taken a page out of Rebekah's book it seems, laying prone atop a bookshelf. Hope wonders how he managed to climb up there without attracting notice.
"Yeah, well we were a little bit busy running for our lives!" Hayley exclaims. "Keelin's been gut shot-ed."
Marcel's chuckle trails off into a mutter. "That's gonna be a pain..." He's absolutely right.
"Come now, Marcellus. It's three against one, the odds aren't exactly in your favor," Klaus reasons. "You should just surrender now."
"Not a chance!" Another barrage rains down over Klaus who grins as the rounds fly by him, missing by inches.
Without warning, Hayley makes a mad dash for the center of the room and jumps onto a table, giving her the extra height needed to nail Marcel in the forearm.
He lets lose a string of curses and climbs down, like a grumpy, six foot Rapunzel descending from a very unsteady tower. The bookshelf nearly topples on him during his dismount.
"Alright, so aside from a gut-shot Keelin, who are we up against?" He asks as he picks up as many of his discarded rounds as he can find.
Hope counts off on her fingers. "Freya and Cami are out. Davina and Kol are a team - shocker, I know - but that leaves Elijah, Rebekah, and Finn on their own."
"Sounds like fun." Marcel grins and cocks his gun, fully loaded once more. "Elijah's in the billiard room, if we hurry, we should be able to catch him before he reaches the lounge."
"Yeah, I'm totally with Davina on the whole 'you guys live in the Clue mansion' thing," Hayley huffs.
They stop in the hall just outside the billiard room. There are no volunteers to enter first.
"Uncle Elijah, we have you out-numbered and out-gunned!" Hope announces, pressing her shoulder against the door frame. "Surrender willingly, or die a painful death - the choice is yours!"
"Are you sure about that, little one?" Elijah questions. "Because, from where I'm standing, the odds of any member of your team subduing me before I take out any number of you seems rather low. Out-numbered... Perhaps. Out-gunned... I think not." He sounded extremely smug. "Oh, and hello Hayley."
"Hi, Elijah," Hayley tosses back.
Klaus sighs dramatically before sharing a glance with Hope. "Tell my story," He says.
Klaus throws himself through the doorway, catching Elijah just slightly off-guard. He fires, but misses and is met with a shower of foam darts. He cries out and staggers back as Marcel pokes just his gun around the corner and shoots blind.
"That was an incredibly lucky shot," Elijah observes.
Hope peaks around the corner to see just what had happened. Elijah had apparently flipped the billiard table on its side to use for cover with only his gun resting on his leg sticking out from behind it. Marcel had hit him in the leg. Lucky shot indeed.
"And that was my eye, Elijah," Klaus bites back, rubbing at the injury.
"I do believe that removes you from combat, brother." Elijah smirks, hoisting his enormous gun over his shoulder. Klaus glares at him.
"Cocktails for the loser squad!" Cami's voice calls from downstairs. That seems to lighten the hybrid's mood.
"Ah, now there's a party I can get into." He walks off pretty quickly after that.
Elijah doesn't bother to collect his expended ammunition. He's got more than enough. "Where to next?"
All other eyes turn to Hope.
She shrugs. "I dunno, I didn't really expect to make it this far."
"Oh, that's a shame; you were doing so well."
Everyone turns just in time to see Elijah's head get 'lopped off' by a foam axe. Standing behind him is Finn, armed with a foam sword, an axe, several knives strapped to various places, and another axe slung across his back. He's ventured from the basement and is grinning like a mad man.
Elijah chuckles and follows after Klaus.
"So, who's next?" Finn asks. He throws the axe in his hand and it hits Marcel square in the chest and he immediately turns to shoot Hayley who yelps and dives for cover.
But before Marcel can fire a shot, a loud snap rings out from behind Finn. A rubber tipped arrow sails into the back of his head and he hisses in pain, glancing over his shoulder to see Keelin and her bow at the end of the hall.
"I'm back, suckers!" She laughs.
Finn sighs and walks away, grumbling about how he actually had a chance this time.
Hope is quick to shoot Marcel back onto her team.
"Gahh Dayum!" He complains. "Again? Really?"
"You better believe it." Hope grins though her face falls when she sees Keelin barreling towards them. "Yeah, time to go!"
At this point, however, they find themselves cut off. With nowhere else to run, aside from trapping themselves in the lounge, they're forced to risk an unprotected dash across the courtyard. It's a long distance to cross - even longer when they know there's a sniper waiting to rain fire on them. They make their break for the stairs anyway, skipping down the steps two at a time.
Exposed as they are, they dash across the length of the courtyard, aiming for the formal dining room.
"Anyone care to notice the lack of darts whizzing by our heads right about now?" Hayley points out as she and Marcel push the sliding doors shut.
Hope blinks, tallying up the fallen players in her head. "Wait, that means..."
Cami, Freya, Klaus, Elijah, Finn...
"Kol and Dee have Bekah." Marcel nods shrugging. "That's it, we're screwed."
"No, we're not!" Hayley smacks his arm.
"Either way, Keelin's got one minute 'till she's dead," Hope offers, trying to be helpful.
"Which means, we gotta be outta here by then 'cuz five bucks says those three musketeers are right on Keelin's tail... Which is probably where they've been this whole time!" Marcel groans, shaking his head. "Have I ever told you guys how much I hate Kol?"
"Only every other day." Hope smirks.
"He's a damn snake," Marcel rants. "Hiding right behind the most dangerous player until she's out of time? What a lousy move."
"You're just jealous you didn't think of it," Hayley says.
"I am not!" He protests. "See, I have better ideas, such as using the servant's passages to get outta here."
With time running out, Marcel's idea is the one they end up going with. The servant's passage leads them back to the kitchen, right where they first started.
From the kitchen stretches two hallways, one of which leads to the lower floor sitting room, while the other leads to a foyer-type space. As the trio emerges into the kitchen, they catch wind of voices drifting from the second hallway.
"Really feeling the sibling love here, Kol." That voice belongs to Rebekah and she doesn't sound too happy.
"I bet you are, sister," Kol hums, smug as a bug.
"Why do I have to be cannon fodder?" She whines.
"Because you're lucky!" Davina chimes in.
Hope waves what remains of her team forward. Once in the foyer-like space, they take up positions on opposite sides of the room, hoping to catch the other team in a crossfire.
A moment later, Rebekah appears from a side hall. She's armed with a Rival pistol, her sniper rifle is slung over her back.
"Well I haven't been shot yet, so I guess that means this room's clear," Rebekah huffs a moment later. She takes a few steps further into their trap.
Behind her, Davina steps out, full-auto machine gun in hand, and hair tied up in a ponytail. She's followed by Kol with that riot shield on one arm and his pistol in single-hand configuration.
"I dunno, Bex," Kol says. "I smell a trap."
Rebekah turns on her heel to stare at him, raising a brow. "You've said that in literally every room we've been in."
"Yeah, well which one of us hasn't gotten shot?" He quips.
"Me." Davina smirks and Kol opens his mouth to reply but closes it a second later.
From the way the three of them have positioned themselves in the room, only Marcel has a feasible shot at any of them. Hope sends him a meaningful look and he just winks.
Throwing away any and all chance at a surprise attack, Marcel steps out from behind his pillar with a lazy grin spread across his face.
"Surprise."
He opens fire, and as for what follows...
Pandemonium.
Kol swears loudly as he moves to shield Davina and poor Rebekah is left to fend for herself. She dives behind a couch and turns her aim on Marcel. Kol and Davina also fire on him and he just manages to duck back behind the pillar to avoid being hit.
Just as Marcel takes cover, Hope and her mother move in for the attack. It's a pincer maneuver - the one thing Kol and Davina's sword and shield tactic can't handle. With fire incoming from two directions, the two of them are out flanked.
Hayley lands two shots to Kol's back and for a moment, the shooting stops.
"Wait Kol, are you dead?" Davina wonders.
The Mikaelson boy tosses his riot shield to the side and looks up with regret in his eyes.
"I'm sorry, darling," He says.
"DAVINA, GET DOWN!!!" Rebekah screams.
In one swift movement, Kol splits his gun in two, leveling one each at Davina and his sister.
Pulling out her sniper rifle, Rebekah uses it as a shield/baseball bat combo as she races to Davina's side. She twists and swings the bulky weapon, knocking Kol's darts out of the air with it in an excellent effort to keep both of them protected as she and Davina climb the foyer's staircase.
With Kol laying down covering fire, Hope, Hayley, and Marcel rush for the cover of a small doorway. Hope throws the door open and waves her team inside. There's a smaller, cozier study space waiting beyond. Hayley's in first, followed by Kol, and then Marcel.
Rebekah rushes to set up a shot from the catwalk adjacent just as Marcel closes the entrance. The doors are nearly shut when her dart streaks through the gap and tags Marcel right between the eyes.
"Well... Damn," He sighs.
Kol whistles. "Nice shot, Bex..."
Marcel smacks him upside the head and stalks off to join the rest of the losers for cocktails.
"That was quite the epic betrayal, Uncle Kol," Hope smirks, snatching Marcel's gun from where he left it on a sofa.
"It was perfect, wasn't it?" He grins.
Hope shakes her head. "Should'a kept the shield."
"Nah, that would have made this next bit far too easy," Kol says, waving a hand. "Now, I take it the two of you have something of a plan?"
"Oh, yeah, let's see-" Hope ticks the bullet points off on her fingers. "Shoot, try not to die, win... That's about it."
Kol nods. "Solid plan. Simple, easy to remember." He turns to Hayley. "We're going to die."
Hope answers his comment instead, shrugging. "Maybe, but if you purposefully gut-shot yourself, I swear I'll kick you."
"Ooh, somebody wants to win," He laughs, grinning cheekily.
"What can I say, I'm sick of losing!" Hope declares.
Before Kol can come up with something more to tease his niece with, a whooshing noise turns all three heads towards the back of the room where a dart flies out from the darkness. It hits Hayley's nose before she can duck.
Crouched in the dark is Rebekah, that alcove is one of those maze-like passengers of halls and stairs between the first and second floor. This is the counter attack.
Hope revs up her new weapon and aims at the shadowy figure, laying down suppressive fire as she and Kol make for cover. None of her shots seem to hit, however, and she crouches behind a bookcase.
Kol, who flung himself onto a sofa, is closer to Rebekah's hiding spot. He reaches one pistol over the back of the couch with the blind confidence of Jack Sparrow and fires two shots.
"Bloody hell! That was my throat!" Rebekah coughs a second later.
"You're dead, sister! Cry about it!" Kol laughs as he reloads his pistol.
Without warning, Davina flings herself over the back of the sofa, landing on top of her husband.
"What the bloody f-" He doesn't even get to finish his profanity.
"Hi." Davina grins.
Kol raises a brow. "Would you kill me, my love?"
She kisses his cheek as she drags her foam knife across his throat.
"Yep!" She cheers, jumping up to her feet again. She turns to face Hope, switching her knife out for a pistol and shotgun while Kol shuffles off to pout like a child.
"Just you and me now," Hope says, leveling her gun on her aunt.
"Just you and me." Davina's smile is razor sharp.
Hope hesitates.
Then she turns, and high-tails it out of that room, screaming over her shoulder.
"You'll never take me alive!"
"That's the idea!" Davina laughs and gives chase.
Hope dashes into the kitchen as fast as her legs will carry her and hops up onto the counter, carefully aiming.
Davina rounds the corner hardly a second later and Hope, heart pounding, shoots first. The rival round bounces off Davina's cheek and all goes still.
"Di-Did I just win?" Hope whispers in awestruck delight.
Davina smiles and droops her weapons, giving her niece a hug. "That you did, Hawkeye."
Hayley wanders in right after with a loving smile. She gives her daughter a kiss on the forehead. "I think this calls for ice-cream," She whispers conspiratorially.
"Who said what about ice-cream?" Cami shouts from across the house and soon there are six or so voices arguing about where to find the best ice cream in New Orleans...

You Don't Know Squat About Me
Kol knew it was a mistake sleeping with Davina, he did, but he couldn’t keep his hands to himself, and the little witch was so fucking brilliant, he could listen to her thinking for hours. Davina talking for hours, in general, he could just enjoy her company as a whole; the silence, the noise, the banter, the arguing, the conversations, all of it. He knew he was gone for her though the moment they sat in silent victory and he could just exist by her with no pressure.
The sex, virgin and all was fan-fucking-tastic, and he meant it, the woman blew his mind away, everything about them just fit; even being in the wrong body they fit. Kol dug into Kaleb Westphall a bit, bloke was brain dead from alcohol poisoning, so the body lived, but the soul had evacuated the premise, and Esther shoving Kol in this witch’s body meant it was all Kol’s now. That took getting used to, but he actually enjoyed it. Kaleb Westphall was a nineteen-year-old English national, with dual citizenship to Germany. He was in the US on holiday, from university, and he had gotten mixed up at a party and ended up suffering alcohol poisoning. No next of kin listed; which was why he’d been put in the vegetable farm while the state figured out what to do with him. That is until Esther stole him, and shoved Kol in his soul evacuated body.
However, Kol forgot he wasn’t a vampire… and not worrying about sexual consequences for so long, the reality hit him like a freight train when it did hit him. Knowledge is power, perspective is a mother fucker; because Odin, that was accurate.
Kol knew he should’ve kept his hands to himself, because he felt it, he felt the exact moment though, the exact moment his and Davina’s magic and lives forged the new life nestled in Davina. And it had hit Kol like a ton of bricks, especially as Finn started ramping up turning young wolves, and his mother started sniffing around, and then there was Klaus, Elijah, and Hayley, and that was a different problem. But no, it all hit Kol with the force of a freight train when Mikael; fucking Mikael, noticed the shift in Davina. Whether Davina knew or not, Mikael knowing was Kol’s ‘I’m out’ moment. He hadn’t felt in love with anyone before, but what he felt for Davina, it was enough for him to decide, on the spot he never wanted to be without her.
And though Kol knew everything his siblings would do for Klaus’ child, he was well aware the same would not be extended to his child, or his woman, and that was enough for him.
Pushing Davina to understand she was pregnant was actually a challenge, the woman was ungodly stubborn, seriously, the little Valkyrie made him look easy going with her stubbornness issues. Fucking Americans. Davina just thought herself exhausted because of all their work on the golden dagger, finally though, Kol made a deal with her to take a pregnancy test.
When it came back positive, Davina went into full panic mode, but Kol was actually two steps ahead of her. His mother was unaware of this… creation, Dahlia was a distinctly Klaus problem, none of his siblings paid enough attention to Davina to notice, and Mikael was unlikely to actually come after Kol right now given his obsession for killing Klaus and reconnecting with Freya. Kol had gotten resources thrown together, checked Kaleb’s real life in Europe, finding the bastard went to Oxford, but Kol could live there easily, he had poked around acquiring a cottage outside the city and he had worked from there. He had looked into Davina’s needed paperwork, and was pleased that he could actually forge most of it as needed until it was real. When Kol laid all this in front of her, confident they could pull it off, he asked if she wanted to run with him.
Davina had stared at him with big tears coming down and nodded. He had kissed her thoroughly, arranged for her to get to England first, and he would meet her there, he would finish things up with his family and meet her there.
Their only argument was leaving without telling Marcel anything, and Davina left a note, no particulars about where they were going, or who she was going with, and he had read and double checked it before agreeing for her to leave that. Kol took her to Louis Armstrong Airport though and watched her walk-through TSA, giving him one last look before she disappeared.
Kol had then gone to Finn and Esther, lying as he said the little witch had disappeared. Esther’s power nearly took him out, and Finn’s attempt to curse him had nearly killed him, but Kol had killed both of them; as the old adage goes, never bring a knife to a gun fight. Kol had been prepared for their underhanded tricks, but he had more tricks up his sleeves than Loki. He dropped their bodies off with the family, and gave the golden dagger to Rebekah before he started running.
He never looked back.
Kol met up with Davina in Oxford, figuring out where they went from there… more challenging. Kol had challenged his entire degree, graduating with honors in a very short time much to the surprise of everyone; but him; he had lived most of the world discoveries and could cobble together a basic understanding of modern technology; though Davina graciously saved him with computers, phones, cars, and anything remotely techy. No Davina, no technology for Kol, she had taken away tablets, phones and TVs from him before he could break it. Though she did get him into gaming, gaming was fun.
Kol eventually got a real job in Normandy, France, Davina was very pregnant by then. But the move made sense, better midwifery available, and Kol wanted her to have the best.
Kol eventually figured out how teleportation spells work, he had dug through his old grimoires and found it, which had him setting up safe houses for Davina because no one was ever going to touch her if he had a say in the matter. Josh flew out and joined them after Aiden was killed, and that hurt, but Josh and Davina did need each other, they were family, and Kol wouldn’t deprive her of that. Kol got his main home to be settled in Fresvik Norway, though they had a cottage and home base on the coast in Veules-Les-Roses; Kol loved the area.
Davina’s labor came as a harsh surprise, she had been ignoring back pains all day, and Kol had been handling some vampire business that was unexpected. When he had gotten home, she was in transition and everything had gone in hyper speed from there.
Rúna was born and Davina healthy, both Kol’s women were safe, and sound, and his world was alright, but that had been the most painful, nerve wracking thirty hours of his thousand years. But Rúna and Davina were safe, and healthy, and Kol was happy.
Happiness was a surprise.
Happiness was probably why he had let down his guard. Davina had started working at a local bookstore, Kol had his work as a witch, and vampire hunter; which was in greater demand in Europe, and they were happy. Davina was expecting their second child now, and it had been nearly five years since New Orleans, and life was good. Which was why Kol had let his guard down. Never in Kol’s thousand years had he ever been happy, or content, and he had never been loved and happy, but he was all of those so he had felt no need to be paranoid or on guard.
His mistake.
“Daddy!” Rúna giggled as she came running towards him in a flurry of dark auburn curls. Kol smiled at his daughter, he could never explain why she looked so biologically like his old self, his original body, because she definitely looked like a Mikaelson, particularly his old body. “Lookie!” she held out her hands and he snorted as he looked at the sea shells.
“These are beautiful, Rúna,” he chuckled.
“Kol?” a voice called out. Kol was up, on his feet, snatching up his daughter as he jerked around to find himself staring at Niklaus who looked bewildered. Rúna started crying as he had caused her to drop the seashells, which he was stepping on now.
“Stay the hell away, Nik,” Kol snarled as he held his hand threateningly between them.
“You… you’re alive,” Klaus stuttered.
Rúna was sobbing unhappily as she hid against his throat, but Kol didn’t take his eyes off Nik. He wanted to hug his daughter, sooth her hurt, her upset, assure her everything was okay, but it wasn’t.
“How the bloody hell did you find me?” Kol snarled. Klaus took a step towards him. “Stay away Nik. Or I’ll give you a migraine that’ll last you a century!”
“I heard the little witch disappeared, I figured you had killed her, not procreated with the little witch,” Klaus sneered.
Kol’s lip curled back, if he had fangs they’d be showing. “You made your choices, I made mine.”
“So you ran off with your little witch to start a family, oh that is rich,” Klaus started.
“Rich?” Kol snorted. “Rich! I realized the moment I felt life within Davina you would never be my family Nik. My brothers and sisters were long since dead, and whilst you parade around to be family, and Always and Forever applied to everyone but me, I was odd man out, I was on the outs, and never to be welcomed! Summoned when needed, be a henchman as needed, be a fall man when convenient, all my bloody life all I ever wanted was you lot to care about me and you couldn’t give me that!
“I found it, and I got to build it, and it doesn’t involve you and never will, Nik.”
“But you’ll pick the little witch over us, our enemy over family?” Klaus sneered.
“Davina Claire would’ve never stood against you if you didn’t want to use her power for yourself, if you didn’t kill her childhood, her innocence, her life, if you hadn’t threatened those she held dear, and if you stopped casting yourself the victim rather than experiencing the consequences of your actions, your lies, your violence, you created the reality to which you bound yourself to, brother.”
“So you left?” Klaus sputtered.
“Why stay, there is nothing there for me, nothing left, my brothers died a millennium ago,” Kol stated. He unleashed his temper as he crumbled his brother to his knees and left. Kol made it home.
“It’s okay, it’s okay, little secret, you’re safe, Daddy will never let anything harm you,” he soothed as he finally could hug his daughter. Kol was fast to send the sinal of distress to Davina so she would get out of the village, Kol didn’t want to lead Klaus to Davina, she was pregnant and he didn’t want his siblings near her. Getting Rúna to Norway he felt the wards of their house being broken as he made it to Fresvik.
Rúna was slumped against his shoulder as he trudged up the hill to the red house.
It wasn’t long after Davina appeared.
“Kol!?” she called out.
“Momma!” Rúna ran from his arms to Davina as she walked in the back door.
“Hello, love,” he smiled as he rounded the corner to see her there. Their toddler hugging her shoulders.
“What happened?” Davina asked.
“Niklaus found us,” he answered honestly. “How are you?”
“I’m okay, they’re…” she winced. “Kicking my ribs,” she huffed. Kol rested his hand over their child, rubbing over her bump carefully.
“Be nice to Momma,” he said to the bump.
She snorted but rested her brow on his chest.
“We’re safe,” he promised. “All four of us are safe, nothing is ever going to happen to you three as long as I live.”
“I love you Kol Mikaelson.”
“Ew,” Rúna grumbled as Kol stole a kiss from his wife.

Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson x daughter!reader Summary: As you settle back into the Quarter, you juggle your personal and new professional life—but with the Mikaelsons, it was almost as if there was no difference between the two. Warnings: none Words: 5.6K
Masterlist | Part 6
a/n: i see this series getting long, guys; just letting you know. btw, i'm pretty much unoccupied, so u can expect new posts for this series and possibly other imagines like every 2-3 days. and tysm for all the support! anyway, i'll let you get to reading now.
Tumblr media
I walked into the Abattoir with a façade of confidence. I was now completely sober, facing the repercussions of my drunken actions. It'd been about a week since my agreement with Elijah and he'd only just called me in to speak with him yesterday.
I was currently cursing my drunk self, but at least Marcel was now allowed back into the Quarter without any fuss. Of course, he wasn't allowed back into the slaughterhouse, but he did compel himself a nice little townhouse a few minutes of human-walking away from my place.
In New Orleans, it was always better to live in the Quarter than anywhere else. This was the heart of the city's supernatural happenings. You were both safest here and also at most danger. But I guess, if you had enemies, you wanted to be in the Quarter because, if you had a crew to roll with, then nobody would really try you.
That's how it used to be at one point in time, and that's what the factions were trying to achieve now.
I was immediately greeted after making it past the gates. "Y/N," Elijah said, walking towards me, hands held out. He wrapped an arm around me, walking me to the couches in the middle of the courtyard. I tried not to show any discomfort at the physical touch. "It's lovely to see you."
I chuckled a little. "Feeling's mutual," I replied, causing the nobleman to let out a little laugh himself. I sat down on one of the couches while he sat on the other. "So, what have we got today?"
He sighed, "The withes are unhappy because of- all due respect, Marcellus' actions."
Right. Marcel forbade anyone to do magic. While I understand his reasoning, trying to protect a little witch by the name of Davina Claire, it was cruel. To ask a witch to go without magic was like asking a human not to breathe; it was damn near impossible.
Even though I get what he was trying to do, I still didn't agree with it—but that didn't mean that I agreed with what the New Orleans witches were doing either.
"So I've heard. But I'm sure you're aware of why he did what he did." He was; otherwise, I wouldn't have brought it up. I wouldn't do anything to endanger Davina; she'd become like a family to me. I knew that the Mikaelsons knew all about Davina, the harvest, and whatnot.
"Yes, of course. To protect Davina, I understand. She is special, without a doubt." Elijah's voice with filled with nothing other than conviction; I'd expect nothing less when people were speaking about Davina.
I smiled thinking about her. "Yes, she is."
"However, it still hasn't done us any favours on a community-wide scale." Elijah ran a hand through his hair. "The witches' spokesperson, Genevieve, is just about furious with the treatment they've received." A look suddenly appeared on his face. "And considering the... interactions my family has had with her, I wouldn't want to anger her further, especially since Hayley is with child."
This was the first time my heart didn't stop at the mention of Klaus' unborn baby. Instead, I was too focused on the witch Elijah named: Genevieve. Now, this was a name Marcel had somehow neglected to inform me about, but I was well aware of who she was.
From my understanding, Rebekah Mikaelson killed her the same year the Mikaelsons fled New Orleans, sometime in the early 1900s. Marcel spilled the whole story to me one night when he was drunk.
Genevieve died. Yet, according to Elijah (and I know this is not a coincidence) she's alive leading the NOLA coven.
Great.
I responded after a beat, bringing my hands together. "Okayyy, so what are we doing?"
"Making the witches happy, love."
Now my heart stopped.
I turned my head to see Klaus just finishing walking down the stairs. "Elijah tells me you're our new... fixer." He shrugged, making his way to the minibar. "So fix it."
"Niklaus."
"Get a grip, Elijah. I don't think I'm offending the young woman," he said before turning to face me. "Am I offending you, love?"
I skipped the whole processing bit of this situation and dived straight into my persona. "Not at all."
Klaus made a gesture to me with his hand, turning back to his brother. "See, Elijah. Marcel's right hand has tough skin." Elijah responded with a much more exhausted sigh than before, rubbing his hand on his face. Klaus ignored this, turning back to me with a bottle of bourbon in his hand. "Want me to pour you a glass, Y/N?"
"It is ten o'clock in the morning, Niklaus."
"All the more reason," he quipped back. "Y/N?"
I tried to loosen up, but my smile probably came out a little more tense than I originally intended. "I'm good; thank you."
Klaus looked at me for a few seconds before shrugging and pouring his own glass. Elijah took this opportunity to continue, but not before letting out another sigh. "As I was saying before my brother so tersely interrupted us, Genevieve has agreed to meet with us after I told her that you—Marcel's right hand, as Niklaus put it—were going to be representing us."
I tried to focus all my attention on the task at hand instead of my absent father who kept looking over at me periodically. I remembered what this was like when I did it for Cellie; I just had to get back in the game. "So, if you are looking to make an agreement of some sort, what are you willing to negotiate—give up, even?"
Just as Elijah was about to answer, Klaus briskly cut him off. "Oh, that's all on you, love." I narrowed my eyes slightly and he elaborated. "You decide then and there what you think is fair." He shrugged again, and although he looked carefree, he also had a smug look on his face that I doubt he was even trying to hide. "Ball's in your court." This was a test.
I didn't ponder on that for too long, nodding to him. "I can do that."
Klaus nodded back. He looked like he wanted to say something, but a quick look from Elijah seemed to make him want to hold his tongue. Thank God.
While I seemed like I was coming a long way, just the mere idea of holding a conversation with this man was terrifying. There were so many things I was holding my tongue about. It was just lucky that I so happened to be 500 years old. A few, quick conversations with my dad who had no idea I was his illegitimate child would not break me. Maybe it fucked with my head, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle.
I'm here after all, aren't I?
Elijah cleared his throat. "Well, it seems to me that we've discussed everything we needed to discuss for today." He stood up and I followed suit. "Again, it was lovely seeing you, Y/N."
"Likewise." I shook the hand he held out, once again ignoring the weird original rush I felt. "I'll see myself out." Couldn't get out faster.
I walked toward the exit before Elijah could say something gentlemanly about escorting me out and before Klaus could say something that'd boggle my mind even further. I assumed he'd text me the details about the meeting later.
I took a deep breath immediately once I was far enough from the compound that I was sure they wouldn't hear me. I had no idea how I was going to get used to any of this, but it was too late to go back now.
In the meantime, I decided to take my mind off the Mikaelsons for a bit by visiting someone who I've yet to see.
Tumblr media
I walked into the old church with caution. It wasn't like I had a problem with Kieran; I just felt awkward whenever I talked to him, so I'd rather avoid him. I've had enough awkward situations in these past few weeks to last me a lifetime.
To my luck, he was absent and so I just walked straight upstairs, dodging cobwebs as I went until I made it to the attic's ajar door. A girl sat on a stool in front of an easel, painting a landscape. She was so focused she didn't even notice me push the door the rest of the way open.
I smiled, leaning on the door as I looked around the room that'd changed since I last saw it, now more decorated and screaming it'd been touched by a teenage girl. "So Marcel's still got you holed up in here, huh?"
She instantly spun around with her jaw dropped. "Y/N?!" She ran toward me, engulfing me in a tight hug that I'm sure would've broken some bones if I was human.
I chuckled, "Hi, Davina. I've missed you, too."
She pulled back, looking over me with disbelief visible on her face. "Oh, my God- when did you get back?"
"A little while ago. I'm sorry I couldn't come see you sooner, but I've been absolutely swamped. I promise, though—going into the future, I'll make time to see you." Davina smiled, pulling me back in for another hug. Her happiness spread to me and I started smiling so hard that my cheeks hurt. I think this might be the first time I've been this happy since I got back to New Orleans.
Davina was an amazing kid. I was supposed to meet up with Marcel the night of the harvest when he saved her, and so I ended up meeting her a few months before I left. She just so happened to be one of the few people who know my secret. She was incredibly gifted and reminded me so much of my younger self. I felt like I owed it to her, to myself, to be there for her. In the short time I've known her, she's become something like a little sister to me, if not a daughter.
When we broke from the hug, we both ended up sitting on the bed. I let her catch me up on what's been happening, even though I already more or less knew it from Marcel's summaries. "Okay, so if the witches aren't trying to hunt you down anymore, why are you still hiding away in this attic?"
"Well, I'm not hiding away anymore," she replied. "Marcel just figured it'd be safer for me to stay here instead of with them. He still doesn't trust them and, honestly, neither do I. They've been acting kind of weird since the witches were resurrected, but I just deal with it and go there everyday to practice."
I hummed. I understood Marcel's reasoning; keeping Davina at the church was actually pretty smart. I wouldn't trust her with a bunch of vengeful witches, either, especially after they tried to kill her once. But this attic was far too small for a little girl to spend her days in.
I looked around the cluttered room, thinking before I said screw it and decided to propose my idea to Davina. "What if you didn't have to stay here?" I asked, looking back at her.
She furrowed her brows. "What do you mean? It's not like there's anywhere else I could go, besides with the witches."
"Not necessarily true." I sat up straighter. "I mean, my townhouse has three rooms, and only one of those rooms isn't empty." I shrugged, gesturing around the room. "It's bigger than this place, so all your stuff would fit."
She sat up too. "Wait, are you being serious?"
"Hell yeah, I am. And the protections on my place are a lot better than this church's, trust me."
"You want me to move in with you?"
"Yeah, Davina, that's what I've been sayi-" I was cut off when she threw her arms around me in the tightest hug she'd given me since I entered the attic, and that was saying something.
"Oh, my gosh! Yes, of course!"
I giggled at her enthusiasm, hugging her back before pulling away to pull my phone out of my back pocket. "Okay, I'll drop you off at the apartment now and I'll text some people to come pick up your stuff and bring it to you." I glanced back up at her for confirmation, looking back at my phone when she giddily nodded. "You can just make yourself at home and get settled in. I'll be home a bit later; I just have a business meeting first."
"Yeah, sure." Davina then stood up, looking around and clapping her hands. "I'll start packing!"
I laughed for what felt like the umpteenth time since I've seen her, standing up too. "Alright, D. I'll see you later," I said, but she was already far too engrossed in packing her things, giving me a distracted goodbye. I shook my head, the corners of my lips going up even higher as I left the room.
Thank God I wouldn't have to come back to this creepy ass church anymore. I really hadn't even thought of asking Davina move in with me; it was such a spur of the moment kind of thing, but I had no doubts then and no doubts now. She'd be safer with me than here, with the witches, or even Marcel.
At the though of my friend, I went to text him about this new development, coming across a message from Elijah along the way.
Elijah M. We'll be meeting the witches at 7:00 PM at the compound.
You OK, I'll be there.
I stuffed my phone back into my pocket after responding to Elijah and texting Marcel about Davina. Seven was two hours away, so I had time to go home and freshen up before the meeting.
I wasn't nervous; I'd already been here before, already done it all, but I did feel a weird pressure to do this well. Something in me said Klaus was counting on me to fail, so it was my job to prove him wrong.
Tumblr media
I walked right into the compound later without standing out front for ten minutes like I did this morning. I was gonna have to get used to this all eventually and I'd prefer that'd happen sooner rather than later.
I was apparently earlier than everyone else because there wasn't a Mikaelson or red-haired witch in sight. I checked my watch: 6:30, it read. Earlier than I expected, but that was fine with me. I wiped the imaginary dust off my outfit: slacks and a tight white dress shirt that I'd unbuttoned just enough to not look like a female Elijah. Resemblance to the Mikaelsons was not what I needed right now.
I was just about to pull out my phone to keep myself busy when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around, my eyes meeting the mother of Klaus' kid. "Oh, hi," she greeted, a surprised look on her face. "What are you- oh, right, Elijah told me you guys were meeting with the witches tonight."
"Yeah- it, uh, appears that I'm a bit early." I chuckled, making small talk even though I really didn't want to have any unnecessary conversations with anyone that lived in this building.
"No, it's a good quality. Elijah's like that," she told me. I nodded, ignoring my thoughts which were questioning her relationship with Elijah. Something told me it was a lot more complicated than it seemed. "I wanted to thank you, by the way."
My brows furrowed. "Hm? For what?"
"For covering me that day with Elijah- and for saving me from that vampire that day, too," she expressed with an almost bashful look on her face. "I realize I was pretty rude to you, but I was really just having a bad day, and-"
"And I'm a vampire, so you were just being careful." She let a small, embarrassed smile form on her lips which I reciprocated. "It's fine, I get it. I'd do the same if I were in your shoes."
"Thank you for understanding; I really appreciate it." I told her it was no problem, resisting the urge to be nosy and ask why she didn't wanna tell Elijah what happened; I didn't want to risk her growing suspicious of me.
Before Hayley and I could fall into an uncomfortable silence, Klaus and Elijah strolled in through the gates into the courtyard. Klaus' eyes narrowed between me and Hayley, probably in a protective manner, while Elijah greeted me.
"Y/N, sorry to have kept you waiting-"
"Oh, no, it was no biggie." I gestured to Hayley. "I had good company, anyways." Hayley smiled, excusing herself after wishing us luck with the witches, but I doubted I'd need it.
I was good and I knew it. Half a millennium alone in the world taught you how to negotiate, how to get your way when you had no one else on your side. Really, I was less worried about the witches and more worried about being in Klaus' presence.
Speak of the devil.
"The witches should arrive soon," Klaus announced, glancing down at his watch then up at me, a smirk arising on his face. "And then you'll be able to play your hand."
I stopped myself from narrowing my eyes or doing anything that showed I felt the shade he was so obviously throwing my way. Clearly, without even having really spoken to me, dear old dad has decided he doesn't like me, much less trust me. I don't know why that hurt because I don't even want to be talking to him period. I guess there's just a part of me that disagrees with that.
Like this morning, Klaus didn't waste a second before walking over to the bar. "Can I interest you in a drink whilst we wait, love?" He poured himself a glass. "Some... liquid courage, if you will."
He's being a jackass on purpose.
I declined, "No thanks." I shook my head. "I don't need it." And I also don't need to be under the influence around the Originals.
Klaus chuckled in an almost sardonic manner. Like the night I met him, he had a dark air around him that he barely cared to conceal. Klaus wanted people to notice that about him; he wanted people to be scared. And I was, but for entirely different reasons.
However, I'd sooner die before letting him know that. If he wanted to play hard ball, then I'd be the best damn batter he's ever seen.
Klaus turned around, tipping his glass to me. "You're quite confident."
"Well, I can back it up," I quipped back. In response, he sarcastically smiled, taking a sip of the brown liquid in his hand. From the corner of my eye, I saw Elijah glancing in between us watchfully.
"So I've heard- and you know, it got me thinking, what exactly is it about you that makes you so special?" This-
I was given time to pause by Elijah's interjection. "Niklaus."
He held his hands out in the air. "What, Elijah? I'm just curious," he reasoned.
I cut Elijah off before he could say something more in order to respond. "No, it's alright, Elijah; I understand the skepticism." I looked back to Klaus whose eyes just so imperceptibly narrowed. "The reason why people are more inclined to listen to me is because I don't operate with a desire to instill fear in others, just respect." I maintained eye contact with Klaus, hoping he was picking up what I was putting down. I knew he got the message when I saw his jaw clench.
He looked like he was going to say something else, but before he could, the gates to the compound opened. All three of us looked toward the entrance to see Genevieve and two other witches walking beside her, like a little entourage.
Elijah seemed to let out a sigh of relief at the intrusion. "Genevieve," he greeted, walking toward them. "Thank you for agreeing to this meeting. Please, take a seat. Can we interest you in any beverages?"
While Elijah was clearly doing his best to mediate, Klaus didn't say a word, only burning a hole into the side of Genevieve's head with a hard glare while he drank his scotch.
The three of them sat down on one couch as Elijah and I sat on the one parallel to it. "No, that'll be alright," she said, crossing her legs. "I know you appreciate verity, Elijah, so I'm gonna be honest: I wouldn't have agreed to this meeting if it weren't for the woman sitting next to you."
Elijah nodded. "Yes, I'm completely aware. Y/N is here to make sure that we both get what we want and to ensure that the future of the Quarter, and everyone in it, is prosperous."
I smiled, holding my hand out. "Hello, it's lovely to meet you. I've heard many good things about you." That was a lie.
Shaking my hand, she responded, "Likewise. The elders of the coven are practically smitten with you. I've never seen witches so eager to deal with a vampire."
"Well, I hope that, after our discussion, you will also be more eager to work with the Mikaelsons."
Genevieve almost scoffed at what I said. In my peripheral, I saw Klaus roll his eyes—at me or her, I'm unsure. "Please, Y/N—I'm sure you're aware of who exactly these people are and what they've done. Even though you're a vampire, you have to admit it's outrageous." Her voice was incredulous.
I really don't understand what she was making a big fuss about. From the way the story was told, Genevieve used to have a huge crush on Klaus back in the day—ew—but I wasn't gonna actually use that against her. I didn't want her to resent me; I actually needed her to like me for this to work.
"I understand where you're coming from," I told her, managing to muster up a sympathetic expression. "But we all want the same thing: peace. That is the final destination; there are so many stops along the way to get there, so if peace is where we truly want to be, then we need to be willing to put aside our differences."
The redhead sighed. "I hear what you're saying, but how can we expect peace while working with these people? How do you expect us to trust them?" Now, Klaus scoffed, causing both Genevieve and Elijah to look over at him, Elijah with a more stern look in his eyes. I, on the other hand, ignored him altogether, focusing completely on the witch in front of me.
I said her name to get her attention back onto me, thus causing Elijah to look away from his brother, too. "I am, in no way, asking you to trust blindly. We're willing to negotiate; just state your terms." I knew this was dangerous, giving her the opportunity to ask for whatever she wanted, but the witches had been recently oppressed; giving them the chance to ask for what they wanted was like an apology of sorts, one that I felt they'd appreciate.
Genevieve looked hesitant, glancing at both of her associates, to Elijah, Klaus, and then back to me. Even without looking at him, I could feel Klaus staring at me, probably questionably. None of them were expecting that move.
See, because I was representing the Mikaelsons, Genevieve expected me to state their terms first then negotiate since they were more powerful. So, of course she was surprised.
After a beat of silence, she finally spoke up. "We want to practice freely."
"Done."
"And we want to celebrate our festivals without a hassle."
"Of course."
"And we want to reclaim witch territory for ourselves and ourselves alone, like the Lafayette cemetery."
"Reasonable," I noted, waiting for her to say something else. When she didn't, I asked, "Is there anything else we can give you? You don't have to answer right now; we'll take some time then I'll get a contract drafted-"
"Esther Mikaelson's grimoire." At her interjection, the room went silent. I didn't even wanna know what Klaus looked like right now, but Genevieve sure as hell seemed to have regained her confidence. "We want Esther Mikaelson's grimoire." That was one ballsy request.
"Are you out of your mind?" For the first time since the witches walked into the compound, Klaus spoke. I looked over at him to see a look of shock adorning his face as if the redhead just tried to kill him—and, I mean, was he that far off?
You don't ask for the Original Witch's spell book without wanting to kill or at least having the ability to kill if you so need it.
Elijah seemed to recover from a shock of his own, trying to calm his brother down. "Niklaus-"
"I am not giving you my mother's grimoire." Klaus had set his drink down, walking toward where we were all sitting. Smoke might as well have been coming out of his ears. I knew that, if I were one of the three witches sitting across from me, I'd be shitting myself. "After what you tried to do to my family, you expect me to hand over-"
"Niklaus." Elijah cut him off, but more firmly and this time Klaus actually listened, turning to look over at Elijah with hard eyes. His eyes flickered to me for a split second before looking back at Genevieve—or glaring, rather.
While Genevieve looked slightly startled, I saw the dead-set expression on her face. It'd be hard to try and convince her that Esther's grimoire wasn't what the witches wanted, but it was possible.
Gears turned in my head as I thought it over until a quick idea popped into my head. At that moment, I began, "I'm sorry, Genevieve. We can do everything else you mentioned, put it in writing, but Esther Mikaelson's grimoire is a no-go." I saw her shaking her head before I even finished.
"Then no deal-"
Elijah cut in, "Genevieve, please-"
"I can give you the next best thing." I caught Genevieve's attention easily, along with everyone else's in the room. In seconds, I had come up with a quick fix; it was a gamble, but if you aren't willing to go big, then go the fuck home. "I currently have a Bennett grimoire in my possession." I paused, gauging her reaction. Clearly, this night was full of surprises.
I suppressed the urge to glance over at my relatives; I had a feeling that I already knew what their faces looked like.
Genevieve struggled to compose herself, so I continued, "It's yours, so long as you accept." I understood what was happening here: the witches or the spirits or whatever were already decided, and they wanted the Mikaelson grimoire, but how could they be upset with what I was offering? A Bennett spell book was a damn good replacement if I ever saw one, and if anyone knew that, it was Esther's children themselves.
I knew the history—I've spent my life learning it. Ayana taught Esther everything she knew; the Bennett bloodline was one of the strongest, maybe even stronger than the Mikaelsons. And although I doubt Genevieve knew the lengthy Bennett history, she quickly got her bearings and responded, "I- we accept-"
I cut her off, smiling, "Great. Now our turn." I clasped my hands together. "You guys can keep your sanctuaries, the cemetery and whatnot, but in shared areas like the rest of the Quarter, we ask that you remain peaceful and avoid altercations with other factions. We're asking the same of the other factions, as well. Similarly, the Mikaelsons don't want conflicts, so we'd also like to avoid altercations in that area."
It seemed pretty simple because it was. It was like what Elijah said to me that night in Rousseau's: everybody wants power, and the witches were no different. They didn't agree to this meeting for peace; they agreed because they wanted power, and the Mikaelsons struck this deal for the same exact reason, even if that's not how the nobleman would've phrased it.
While I didn't provide the witches with the same prepared list of terms, what I was asking for would have the same effect. The Originals were already on top, so what more did they really need to ask for?
Genevieve, once again, looked over at the two girls sitting next to her who both nodded at the silent question she was asking. When she turned back to me, the smallest of smiles was on her lips. "You have yourself a deal."
I reciprocated her expression as we both stood up. I shook her hand. "Pleasure doing business with you. I'll work on getting that contract drafted in more detail, so please, come to us with any other requests you may have."
Genevieve nodded, letting go of my hand, and Elijah took the pleasantries from there, walking them out of the compound. This left Klaus and I alone momentarily.
I looked over at him to see that he was already staring at me. I felt a chill go down my spine from how intently he was looking at me, my mini adrenaline rush dying down. It looked almost like he was picking me apart with his gaze.
I didn't want him to think I had something to hide, so I held his stare. We were both silent until Elijah walked back. This time, he didn't seem to sense the tension in the room—that, or he just chose to ignore it.
"Thank you, Y/N," he said. I looked away from Klaus to smile in response, but the second I did, he broke his vow of silence.
"How do you have a Bennett grimoire in your possession?" Klaus' voice was cold and accusatory, just as his eyes were. Elijah just might have frozen had he not been a thousand-years-old; hell, I probably would have, too, but I'd already been crafting an explanation as soon as the idea popped into my head.
Not the real explanation, but one that made more sense.
I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "I met one a few hundred years ago. She died after she was in the wrong place, wrong time, but she left that book to me."
Klaus didn't look sold. "A Bennett witch left her grimoire with you, a vampire? Not with her family?"
"Well, to be fair, she wasn't in touch with her family at that time," I retorted. "And I was human at the time so, yes, she left it to me because she knew it could come of use one day."
Klaus didn't reply to me, instead choosing to continue staring me down. However, his glare was now lessened, so I knew he sort of believed me, even though he had doubts.
In the time that Klaus wasn't saying anything, Elijah cleared his throat, bringing the attention back to him. When I looked over, he smiled and tried to further de-escalate the situation. "Thank you, again, Y/N."
That was my cue to leave. "No problem. Are you okay with meeting up tomorrow to discuss the contract?"
He nodded. "Of course. Lunch?"
"Sounds great," I said, grabbing my bag that I'd left on the armchair next to me. "I'll see you tomorrow then."
Elijah bid me farewell while Klaus remained mute, but I still felt him staring at me, even as I was walking out; only when I'd walked two minutes away from the compound did I finally let go of that feeling
I didn't speed all the way home this time like I had been doing recently after exiting the Abattoir. Instead, I decided to take this time to think since I really haven't gotten a moment alone all day.
The excuse I gave Klaus wasn't too far from the truth—I only warped it slightly. I didn't know who he knew or how well he knew my mother before he slept with her, but I knew that if I gave him the real story, there was a possibility that he'd find out who I was.
The real story was that my mother was best friends with a Bennett. Almost like history repeating itself if you thought about it; Amelia Bennett was to my family what Ayana was to the Mikaelsons. She was both a mentor to my mother and me.
In reality, we were a lot closer than I made it sound. She was a lot closer to my mother than she was with the rest of her family. We were in Salem; the witch trials were just beginning, so any witch in the area was either preparing to leave or to die. She was anticipating the latter, so before she died, she made sure to leave the assets she had to my mother.
The other Bennetts didn't dispute this, fleeing west. The rest of the story, I try not to think about. I needed to be strong, for Davina, for Marcel, for Amelia, for my mother, and for myself; otherwise, everything I've sacrificed would've been for nothing.
With that thought, I had a new resolution.
This, what I was doing here in New Orleans, could not fail. I have not lived the life I've lived just to fail. So from this moment forward, I decided to be better, to be stronger. No more quivering at the mention of my father or his baby, no more getting shaken up by conversations with the Mikaelsons.
Walking toward my apartment, I made myself a promise.
This city will not break me, no matter what.

****************************************************
back where Elijah was, he was worried about you and Freya and was taking his anger out on Esther, he loved you and couldn't bare the thought of you dying in the hands of Dahlia. He knew you wouldn't be able to stand against her and he was worried sick.
****************************************************
Once Dahlia had finished the spell, she came to you and used her magic to inflict pain on you and you screamed in pained, trying to save yourself but to no avail.
"Stop! you're hurting her! she did nothing to you! she is innocent and you know it!" Freya shouted, trying to stop Dahlia from hurting you further.
"I told you I would make you and your brothers watch her suffer and I will hold my end, this is just the beginning, it would only get worse from here." Dahlia said.
"Isn't there a saying about stones and glass houses?" Dahlia stopped and you looked up and saw Klaus standing outside the boundary spell.
"Incase the analogy is lost to you, I believe my brother is calling you a hypocritical b*tch." Rebekah said as she stood beside Klaus. Klaus turned to you and smiled.
"hello love, missed me?" you smiled weakly at him.
"Hmm, bringing vampires to a witch fight. someone hasn't learnt their lesson."
"well, I can be a bit thick sometimes" Klaus smirked. you heard chains rattling and saw Esther being dragged in by Elijah. You were so relieved to see Elijah and smiled.
"in this occasion, i'd say i took your lesson to heart." Klaus smirked even more as Dahlia's smile drop at the sight of Esther.
"are you hurt darling?" Elijah asked.
"don't worry I'm fine" you told him with a weak smile. Elijah looked with anger towards Dahlia and threw Esther's chain's onto the ground.
"My sister, in chains," Dahlia looked her up and down and started laughing with tears in her eyes, this woman is truly a pyscho.
"is.... is she a gift to buy your freedom? because I brought something." She lifted the stake and showed it to them.
"one stake, 3 of us. Even if you don't hesitate, the other 2 will rip you in half." Klaus told her.
"Sound thinking, but small thinking." she lifted the stake up to the sky and thunder zapped the stake and dust of wood from the stake flew around the warehouse. she used her magic to make the dust fly into Elijah, Rebekah and Klaus's mouth and they all started coughing out blood.
"you're killing them." Freya said in worry.
"now, look at me." everyone turned their attention to Dahlia as she turned to you and used magic to inflict pain on you, much more pain then before. You screamed in pain as tears fell from your eyes. Elijah yelled your name and vamped towards Dahlia but was blocked by the barrier between them and he fell to the ground. He looked at you with worry and was angry he couldn't do anything to save you.
"now sister, let us watch together, as I burn your children from the inside out." Esther looked around as she saw her children slowing dying.
"you still carry so much anger for me, after all these years." Esther said as she walked towards Dahlia.
"you broke your vow, we were to stand together, always and forever, and you left to marry that british biking imbecile, you ended my family and they were the result." She used her magic to inflict more pain onto Elijah Klaus and rebekah.
"no please stop!" you begged Dahlia to stop.
"you call this my wrong doing? you made me bargin away my first born child, my daughter" Esther told Dahlia
"Not just this firstborn, but every firstborn and even then you found a way to deny me that which you had sworn would be mine! how do you think that felt?" Dahlia said in anger. Klaus tried to use the dagger on Dahlia but she used her magic to pin him to the ground. Dahlia looked up and saw the moon shining in the warehouse and turned to Esther.
"now Esther, say goodbye to the last of your children" with that, Dahlia used her magic to strangle Freya and she was gagging. Esther looked around and saw that her children were dying and she knew she had to do something.
"wait! sister, you have everything you ever wanted, including the firstborn of a new generation, and you even have the firstborn of the most powerful witch coven, you have bested us all, at least let me try to make amends, let me share with you the glorious freedom that i have found in death." Esther took her chains and wrapped it around Dahlia and that made Dahlia let go of Freya and Freya used her magic to open the boundary spell and you used your magic to make Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah cough out the white oak stake dust that were in them.
"Elijah" Esther said and gave him the greenlight and Elijah took the dagger on the floor and threw it to Klaus. Klaus looked at you with sorrow in his eyes as he knew what was going to happen. you looked at him and nodded and mouth "it's ok, we'll see each other again" but he knew that might not happen as he charged forward with the dagger and stabbed Esther and Dahlia. you gasped one last time before falling to the ground.
The Mikaelson's watched as Esther and Dahlia slowly turned to dust and wind blew their ashes. Elijah looked at your unconscious body and vamped towards you and knelt down.
"darling, wake up, we won, Dahlia's dead" Elijah shook your body but you didn't wake up. He panicked and shook your body harder as he lifter you up and laid you on his lap. he placed 2 fingers on your neck to find a pulse but he couldn't find one.
"there's no pulse, why is there no pulse?" he asked with tears in his eyes. he looked up and saw Klaus had a sorrowful look on his face.
"Dahlia linked her life to Ava's, so when Dahlia died, so did Ava, I'm sorry brother." Freya explained as tears welled up in both her and Rebekah's eyes.
"no, it can't be, there is not possible." Elijah was in denial and shaking his head.
"she should have woken up by now." Klaus said out loud.
"what do you mean she should have woken up?" Elijah asked. Klaus sighed and started explaining what had happened when you teleported to him.
****************************************************
you used your magic to teleport yourself spiritually to Klaus.
"Ava? how? how are you here?" Klaus asked.
"I'm not really here. i'm really where Dahlia is but also here, so i'm kind of like in 2 places at once." you explained. you went over to him and gave him a hug and he hugged back.
"i'm glad you're okay." you said as you pulled away and after awhile you frowned and started hitting Klaus.
"I can't believe you went behind our backs and came up with your own plan!" you exclaimed as you hit him and Klaus used his arms to protect himself from getting hit.
"I had no choice! the plan was going to fail." Klaus explained and you huffed.
"you should have told me, i would have helped. you don't have to do everything by yourself, you are not alone." you told him and he smiled.
"i know, i promise i'll let you in next time" Klaus promised and you smiled.
"I'm surprised we can hug, i didnt think that was possible." Klaus said after awhile.
"with determination, anything is possible, plus I'm part of the most powerful coven so that's also another reason why." you explained.
"and yet you were captured by Dahlia." Klaus joked and you hit him and rolled your eyes before looking at Klaus seriously.
"Klaus I have to tell you something." you said and he looked at you.
"Dahlia linked my life to hers." you told him
"does that mean we would kill you if we killed Dahlia?" Klaus asked worriedly and you nodded.
"no, we will find a way to get her to severe the link." Klaus said with determination.
"I'm afraid there will not be time for that." you shook your head and looked down.
"you will have to kill me." you told him and he shook his head.
"no there has to be another way." he said.
"there might be another way, but I don't know if it's going to work."
"a chance is still better than no chance." Klaus told you.
"I drink from your blood and i turn into a vampire" you told him and his eyes widened.
"is that even possible? your real body is not here." Klaus asked.
"well like i said i'm in 2 places, so i'm guessing whatever happens here, happens there too. but like i said, it's a risk, i never did it before so i don't know if it will work." you told him.
"if there's a slight chance you're walking out alive, we have to take it, i'm not letting my brother lose you." Klaus told you.
"Just admit you don't want me to die too" you smirked and patted his cheek and he rolled his eyes and bit into his wrist and offered it to you and you drank from his wrist. once you were done, you pulled away and wiped the blood dripping down your mouth.
"please don't tell Elijah about this, if he knew, he wouldn't be so quick to kill Dahlia and your plan won't work" you told Klaus and he nodded. He pulled you close and hugged you.
"If you die, i will personally come to heaven and drag your ass back down to earth" Klaus threatened and you smiled and hugged back, happy that Klaus cared for you.
you guys pulled away and with one swift move you transported yourself back to where Dahlia was.
****************************************************
"you knew?" Elijah asked with angry tears and Klaus looked down.
"you knew that she was linked to Dahlia and it was a risk to drink your blood but you still went on with it?! how could you?!" Elijah shouted and vamped to Klaus but before he could punch him Rebekah stepped in between them.
"Elijah please." Rebekah said and Elijah put down his hand.
"I'm really sorry brother, but she told me not to tell you. if you knew you would have stopped us from killing Dahlia and our plan would fail and everything we have worked for would go down the drain." Klaus explained.
"but now I lost the love of my life because of this!" Elijah exclaimed. Before Klaus could speak, you gasped for air and Elijah rushed to your side to help you sit up.
"oh my god what happened? what's that sound? why is everything so loud? why is the sun so bright?!" you were having a panic attack and you can feel your heart pounding. everyone was trying to calm you down but you just felt worse with all of them chatting.
"shut up shut up shut up!" you made a blast radius which made the Mikaelsons flew backwards. at least you know you still had your magic. you took a deep breath and finally calmed down and you looked around and saw everyone standing up.
"I'm really sorry guys." you apologised sheepishly.
"that's alright love, coming back from the dead can be stressful. i'm glad you still have your magic" Klaus told you and you smiled at him. Elijah vamped to your side and hugged you tightly and you hugged him back.
"I missed you too." You said with a smile as you pulled back.
"I thought I lost you. I was so scared when i couldn't find your pulse." Elijah said with a sad expression.
"you didn't lose me, i'm tough. i don't fear death, death fears me" you smirked and Elijah chuckled.
"I have something to tell you guys, but first, i need blood, or i'm going to die for real this time." you said and everyone nodded. all of you went back to the compound and Klaus handed you a bloodbag and you drank from it, satisfying your hunger.
"what did you want to tell us?" Freya asked.
"i know how we can bring Kol back" you told them and their eyes widened.
"how?" rebekah questioned.
"I can bring him back" you revealed.
"what?" Elijah was shocked.
"when i died, i was brought to my ancestors, they told me they knew I wanted to save Kol, and they told me I have the power to bring him back, with their help, i need to channel their power, we can bring Kol back" you said with a smile and everyone smiled.
"i think Davina would love to be here" you said out loud.
"I'm sorry to burst your bubble but i think Davina is still mad about what we did." Klaus told you.
"she's the least mad at me, i'll go talk to her." you announced.
"are you sure you're up for this darling? maybe you should rest first." Elijah's voice sounded concerned and you smiled and kissed him.
"don't worry babe i'm fine," you told him and Elijah kissed your forehead. you got up and left the room to find Davina and found her in the bar drinking her feelings and went up and sat beside her.
"hey Davina." you smiled at her but she just glared at you.
"leave me alone." Davina said angrily.
"i know you're mad but hear me out, i know how to bring Kol back." you told her with a smile
"why should i believe you? you're associated with the Mikaelsons and they are liars." Davina said accusingly.
"Just come with me and if I don't bring Kol back, i'll leave you alone and not ask for anything ever again." Davina looked you with a raised eyebrow and agreed and you smiled and brought her back to the compound, where the rest of Mikaelsons were waiting for your return. Davina saw them and glared at them with anger as she follow you where you stood in the middle of the compound and did the Mikaelson pose (what davina did) and started chanting something.
A ring of fire appeared around you and it burned brighter and brighter the more you chant. you channeled your ancestors magic and chanted the incantation your ancestors gave you. you started to feel faint and your nose started bleeding and Elijah got worried.
"darling, you have to stop, you're hurting yourself."
"no, i'm fine, i have to finish this incantation" you continued to chant as blood continued to flow down your nose.
"what's happening?" you heard Kol's voice and was happy the incantation was working, but not enough. you could see Kol was fading in an out. Elijah was trying to get you to stop but you kept going. Davina was looking at Kol with a smile, knowing that he was coming back. The fire around you grew and once you finished, you stopped chanting and the fire around you fade out. you saw all your friends looked at you proudly and you saw Kol and Davina looked each other lovingly and hugged each other and it made you smile lovingly at them.Elijah came up to you and smiled.
"you did great." he said and kissed you on your forehead.
"thank you." you said weakly and Elijah could see that something is wrong with you.
"are you okay?" he asked worriedly.
"I- I don't-" you spoke weakly before fainting into Elijah's arms. Everyone looked at you worriedly as Elijah vamped you up to your room and laid you gently on your bed and sat next to you, waiting for you to wake up.
****************************************************
you slowly opened your eyes and looked around and found yourself in your room and saw that Elijah was next to you with his head on the bed and you smiled. you slowly sat up and Elijah felt you sitting up and he got up too.
"you should have slept next to me." you told him.
"that's alright darling. how are you?" he asked.
"i'm alright, thank you. how long was I asleep?" you asked.
"3 days" your eyes widened.
"3 days?!?"
"you did a powerful spell. you needed your rest." Elijah told you with a soft smile. you couldn't believe you slept for so long.
Suddenly your stomach rumbled and Elijah chuckled and your faced flushed.
"hungry?" Elijah asked and you nodded.
"come on, the others are making dinner." you got of bed and into the dining room where you see the other Mikaelson's preparing the dinner table. Even Hayley, Marcel and Davina were here and you smiled, I guess Klaus had forgiven Hayley and Davina had probably came because Kol convinced her.
when they saw you, they looked up and smiled at you.
"welcome back love" Klaus smiled at you.
"thank you, Ava, for bringing me back." Kol thanked you gratefully.
"thank you." Davina thanked you with a smile.
"it's good to have you back." Hayley told you.
"It's good to have you back as well." You smiled at her.
"well I figured it would be what you have wanted so I got Freya to do a reversal spell. It's the least I could do after all you have done for us." Klaus told you.
"it's not because you forgave her?" You asked.
"well I might forgive her if she doesn't run away with my daughter again." Klaus spoke and Hayley rolled her eyes playfully.
"come on people, let's eat. I'm starving." Rebekah spoke up and everyone sat at the table and started eating, even Hope was in a baby chair next to Hayley, happily eating her food. It was the first time in forever when all the Mikaelsons were in one place, eating together with no one chasing them. You felt sad Finn wasn't here but at least the rest of the Mikaelsons were here with you. you smiled and looked around at your friends, laughing and eating and talking to one another and felt a warm feeling in your chest. you had the best friends in the world and had the best boyfriend in the world and you wouldn't have had it any other way. If you were to live this through a second time, you wouldn't change a thing because you knew the journey here was worth it.

Bonds were made | Agents of SHIELD Fanfic
Tumblr media
Pairing: Amelia Parker & Grant Ward
Timeline: Pre-Avengers (2012), Pre-Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013-2020)
Tumblr media
Summary: Sometimes the person you see so much respect and kindness for, isn’t the one who you expect it to be. Doesn’t matter how different you may seem, it’s this challenge to themselves and you are going through the process together.
Characters mentioned: Phil Coulson, Melinda May, Natasha Romanoff, Mockingbird, and others
Setting: During SHIELD Academy
—————
Her heart was racing. Pumping. Hunched over her knees as she squeezed her eyes shut. It was late. The sun was coming down. Close to the dead of night. Her phone was buzzing as she let out a deep breath and glared at the guy in front of her.
He chuckled, wearing hid dark clothes and shook his head watching her. Glancing over at the street light, choking on the heat as the world spins around as they’re frozen on the top of the street.
“What you looking at, Ward?” She yelled, as her glares softened as she tossed a water bottle and he lead her to sit down on the bench nearby.
“Nothing.” He repiled, placing a gentle hand on her back and gave her a certain amount of time to rest.
“I can’t do this. I give up. Can we go home? Please?”
“No, sweetheart. This is what it’s all about. You need to build up your own strength and stamina.”
“Now it just feels like I’m not getting everywhere. I’m done.”
“You just started! What are you gonna do when the real mission comes, huh?”
She gave him an odd look and scoffed chuckling, “Stand behind a set of computers and code my way across the hardware. Sitting!”
“Ames, you said it yourself last week. You want to be versatile! Be a field agent and get out there on the action. I’ve seen it before, you can run and give a good punch to defend yourself.” He replied with an certified look.
“That was different, Grant! I was trying to escape stores, get away from cops and stuff.”
“No, it’s the same thing! You gotta—no, we gotta make this a challenge.”
“More challenging than it is?”
“Yes! You gotta race me, y-you wanna race me? Make it a bet!”
“You’re serious? Your not kidding me, right? Cause you like to cheat sometimes to get me riled up!”
“That’s my point! I gotta find your center to get you moving and want to keep going. I think I know exactly what makes you go for the moment! You do too.”
“…I see your point! Make the connection, search for what they want and stand your ground. That’s how I get it.”
Grant just grinned at her words. He only spent a short few weeks with Amelia but she was something else, she always wanted understand the assignment and plays with the ball she’s given. Something he didn’t have to teach her, she just knows.
Just like him.
It surprised him how young she was but how she tended to keep herself grounded. It like playing a game with her, making sense of what she meant and wants. There was a difference she carried in the way she wanted to things and the balance she tried to keep.
However he always needs to keep her up float, it was his self defense and self doubt she carried but hid behind very well.
He respected it, a lot.
Amelia grinning ear to ear. It was this sweetness she carried, this childlike attitude towards others, wanting to see them in a different light. She always knew she saw something different in Ward. The determination, the guilt of challenging himself to do better for someone can give a chance and the away he treated others.
The self doubt, keeping everything leveled and an confidence she saw in him.
It amazes her how he balanced it all so young.
He carried this look on his face like he gave everyone the cold shoulder, but he really just wanted to see what they’re made of. It’s hard for him to let loose and not be so serious with her, due to way he were so different. But it’s this challenge Amelia had with him, to keep Grant bouncing around and smile where his shoulders dropped in relief, keep him in a position to breathe.
She respected him, so much. She seen the tapes of him in action and honestly she would trust Grant Ward with her life.
She love t—
“Amelia?” He asked with a smile, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“Hm?” She repiled with a little smile.
“Do you trust me enough, to race against me?”
“Well you do trust me enough to get the job done?”
His smile grew with a nod, “Yeah, I do.”
“Good. I do too.” She replied this time with a bigger smile.
~~~~
Do you trust me?
Little did they know that one line, would be the thing that chained the relationship they would have.
The bond that would make and break them..
~~~~
The bet, or more like the challenge, Grant made to race down 2–3 blocks and make a left onto a few streets as they would reach the step to the museum.
The Metropolitan Museum Of Art to be exact.
Amelia found it to be sounding easy enough, jumping in pace to hype herself up as she popped in her earbuds. Grant found it funny at first and sorta cute that she needed music to get the job done, but he couldn’t blame her. Music alway make everything better as he decided to join on the fun and throw on his headphones.
There a timer on both phones for 15 minutes tops.
Once the countdown started, Amelia speeded off a second half quicker than Grant who smirked at her pace. The two started out going down the same direction across the blocks, becoming careful for people who were walking around and watching traffic.
Tumblr media
It was going well. Hearts racing, beats pumping in their ears as Amelia glanced at timer and tried following Grant. He was more athletic than her, so it made it tricky for her to keep up.
“Keep up slow poke!” Grant yelled, flip to start pacing back and sending her a small wave.
His real test was to see her determination and agility to keep up with the task, like running towards a con artist for example. In his eyes, she wasn’t doing bad so far as he turned back to run the correct way.
She sighed taking a breath and grunted, “Ohh—not fair!”
She on the other hand was testing his strategy a bit, since Amelia thought of taking a short cut past a few people and across the street, since sometime you had to take a little detour to get somewhere.
So she whistled at him and pacing over to the around a group of people, sending way at Ward. He rolled his eyes as she then race off.
———
But Amelia Parker being well..Amelia Parker. She didn’t think her idea would thoroughly lead her towards an narrow end. There were buildings, fire escapes, people walking from different backgrounds, alleyways, dogs, and vehicles passing by her.
“Shit..” She muttered, whined as she started wondering where Ward went and added, “..stupid Parker..”
The girl decided to climb up a fire escape nearby an apartment complex close to a few store, such as H&M and Rainbow, hoping she can get a better look. It kinda stunk due to the dumpsters close by.
She took to the top of one of the buildings, feeling a little fuzzy and groans at the garbage.
However once she over the smell, using her phone Amelia zoned in and saw the somewhat crowded streets followed by, the lovely Metropolitan Museum so close. Her location wasn’t so far away, so she glad.
She even saw Grant running before noticing she wasn’t behind him. He looked confused for a moment, almost terrified he lost her amongst the audience of people and started playing back his latest memory as he run off.
Amelia on the other hand shrugged, texting Grant she was on her way sooner rather later. It was looking pretty good until Amelia started to get down the stairs to fire escape she saw it. Both guy, around the 18 or so, jogging up to the alleyway floor started to lock eyes with her.
She tried getting down as quick as possible and jump over to the dumpsters for higher level. But she was too late as they were speeding up towards, about to jump down when they started shaking the latter.
The girl paced herself, taking a breathing trying to fight them off using whatever was nearby to hit them as she jumped down the latter.
She was new to this whole thing, fighting off more than one person and finding their weak spots. But still Amelia tried her best, being pushed and tossed onto the groundwork by one of them guys.
“Guys, come on! C-can we talk about this? Huh?” She asked, douching a hit and grabbed a glass bottle to use as a weapon.
But before one of the guys could swing tightly over her face, he was pulled back against the top of his head and whacked hard stumbling backwards. There was one holding Amelia by the side, letting her go and tossing the girl onto the ground.
She stumbles, standing up against the dumpster and gagged at the smell balancing herself then swinging the glass bottle across his guys head. She hit him so hard he was knocked out cold.
“Ames?!” Yelled the rough voice of her partner of the race.
Tumblr media
She turned over to face him, as she connected the dots that it was him who whacked the first guy in the head so hard. Grant just finished fighting him off and grunted, racing over to her helping her stand.
“H-hey, hey, look at me. You okay?” He asked, worry in his eyes as he gently takes her face in his hand searching for damage, “Where did the bastards hurt you?”
“Heheh you really fought him for me, huh?” She replies, with a dry laugh giving him a half smile as she looked at his face.
All Amelia saw were the small bruises, snatches and shiner that could form anytime soon on his face. His hoodie fell off as his chest was still huffing. She never saw him worried before, but then again she just got attacked in an alley.
Grant didn’t realized he was taking her face in his hand and search for damages in just a concerned way. He saw the small bruises on her arms. As well as tiny snatches on her face.
Tumblr media
“Damn it, Ames!” He grunted, huffing at her humorous laugh and half smile, “You’re hurt. Where does it hurt?”
“I’m fine now and don’t be concerned or blame yourself. It’s part of..training, getting hurt and standing up right?” She replied, running her thumb over his jaw to notice the bruise there.
“You took a detour and got attacked in the process. Of course, I’m concerned! Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m okay! You saved me, didn’t you?”
“I’m serious.”
“So am i.”
“Always a humorous moment with you, isn’t there?”
“Mhm!”
“Ames, I’m not kidding!”
“I’m fine, your hurt too. A pretty strong attack to the face..a-are you okay?”
“I’ve been hurt far more worse than that. So I’m alright. Coulson’s gonna kill us..”
“He doesn’t have to find out, unless we don’t say anything..”
“At least we’re not bleeding to death, so that’s a plus..”
“I hate you, a lot.”
“Aw, i love you too.”
She huffed pushing the hair out of her face and smirked. He sighed deeply shaking his head, seeing the look in her eyes and returned the smirk.
“No, don’t. You are not going continue the race against me.” He told her with a certain look, smiling softly.
“Come on, we might as well get the job done. Do you trust me to keep going with your challenge?” She asked him with a small grin.
“Serious? Okay I’ll bite. Do you trust me when i say we’re gonna regret this in the morning?”
“Possibly. But um, are we still itching to get it done..i hope..”
“God. One last lap to the museum, Ames. I mean it.”
“Yes! Then off to 7-11 for pizza and extra water bottles…and um, thank you.”
“For what?”
“Having my back.”
~~~~
He smiled at that, hearing those words.
Parker was a wordsmith with a smile that can make or break something inside someone.
He understood that. It’s something that could help or hurt a person, make you want to watch your step.
Almost like Coulson.
Damn.
She returned the same smile, watching his face considering her words.
Ward was a engineer with his attitude that can sending you spiraling down a wormhole of questions and a smile that can lead you down a certain path.
She knew that. It was this skill level and an great balancing act with a mind that help or hurt you if you mess up.
As close to Agent May or even Romanoff.
Shit.
~~~~
And once again they were off.
Racing against one another, keeping up the pace watching the other person’s six and matching sure they’re alright after the attack.
It was more like jogging.
Sharing tiny smiles. Grant rolled his eyes at her silly little grin as Amelia scoffed at his cheeky wink he would give in return.
Reaching the street across to the location. He stood behind her watching over to see anyone was nearby and if there was space to make the jump up the steps.
A few steps up to the top of the stairs, kneeling to take a breath and nodding as they ran gently.
Tumblr media
Grant reach up the steps first, he smile holding out his hand for her to take. Amelia giggled softly, taking his hand gently as she was pulled into his embrace.
He was honestly proud of her and so was she.
“What you giggling at?” He asked with a smile, his arms wrapped around her shoulder as he looked down at the girl in question.
“You listened and kept going.” She replied with a smile, leaning into his embrace as she looked up at him.
“Your proud?”
“Yeah. You’re a good guy, Ward.”
“You make me feel like I’m a good guy. I’m proud of you. You passed my test.”
“Test?”
“Yeah, i wanted to see your determination and I made sure of it. You kept going even if i wasn’t on the same page about it”
“Of course, i took a page out of your book. To keep going and stop when you can’t anymore. And you passed mine, I think.”
“Hmm, i guess so. You’re gonna be a good agent some day.”
“As good as you or better?”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions, Parker.”
He walked away from her, nodding for her to follow him as he held out an hand.
She raised an eyebrow and added, “You didn’t answer my question!”
“I didn’t need to!” He responded, waving his hand waiting for her.
“You’re unbelievable.”
“Isn’t that my line?”
“Shut up.”
“Make me.”
“Not happening.”
“Good answer.”
Amelia paced up, taking his hand gently and walked with him down the path. Grant nodded, taking the lead glancing down at her every once in a while.
Tumblr media
As they walked down the street, he notice her smile and tiny bruises that started to take shape.
But she wasn’t angry about it nor upset with him about leading the way. It was her choice and she made a mistake, learning from it.
He knew why she is the way, she is and admired her for it. Hell, he thanked his timing and the position he was in to have her in his life.
Knowing that Amelia Parker would make a great deal of decisions one day and in result make people shine or question their tactics.
And he hopes he can be there to see it.
What happened today and the damaged that cause him to end up hurt—both of them to be hurt—it wasn’t his fault per say. He knew the risk and she knew the way he would think about it.
She noticed the smile on his face, making her own grow. She never expected to find someone like Grant Ward in her life and thanked the whole situation she was in for it.
He made a mistake not watching his back, but he will learn as the time goes and the keystone that follows along that path.
She admired that part of him, since Ward isn’t one to to make small mistakes very often and it shows her that it’s part of the job.
Knowing that Ward will have to become an leader one day, having to help a group during highly trained mission of some kind and make decisions that might cost his life or save it.
And something tells her that she might be there to see it.
___
Little did they know that those hopes and suspensions will become true.
Leading different paths within the same field and bumping into one another weather they like it or not.
But that’s an tale for another day…
