Since you do demon slayer and mononoke, can I request a demon slayer reader x Kusuriuri/medicine seller. I heard that he's a kitsune, and I saw that kitsure are equated to demons. So, like the reader is trying to kill Kusuriuri's, but he always manages to escape her attempts (kinda like a cat and a mouse game), and it slowly starts to become a relationship (Maybe he saves her from a strong Mononoke, its up to you lol). Of course you don't have to do this, love your work! ♥️♥️
A/n: This was fun to write. Though I did have a hard time trying to fit Kusuriuri in the Demon Slayer universe. I honestly don't think he would fair against Muzan and his demons since they're basically still humans and Kusuriuri only fights against Mononoke. I am also not good at writing something like a Tom & Jerry chase scenario so forgive me if this doesn't meet your standards.
Anyway, I hope you like, comment, reblog (only if you want to), and enjoy!
Encounter - The Medicine Seller x DemonSlayer!Reader [ᴍᴏɴᴏɴᴏᴋᴇ x ᴅᴇᴍᴏɴ ꜱʟᴀʏᴇʀ: ᴋɪᴍᴇᴛꜱᴜ ɴᴏ ʏᴀɪʙᴀ ᴄʀᴏꜱꜱᴏᴠᴇʀ]
Tumblr media
Your Kasugai crow had informed you hours ago to head west. You obediently followed its guidance, sprinting as quickly as you could until you arrived at the rural mountain village where a peculiar string of disappearances and murders had occurred.
During your investigation, you're informed by the residents that a mysterious man has been spotted roaming the streets after dark and leaving behind a number of strange ofuda (paper tailsman) on people's doors and was carrying a box on his back.
He had arrived like the wind, proclaiming to be a medicine vendor, and was last seen wandering down the old pine forest road.
Despite the fear that gripped the neighborhood, no one could say for sure who this mysterious man was or what his intentions might be.
You weren't too surprised. As a Kanoto-ranked demon slayer, you were certain that this so-called "medicine seller" is the demon responsible for kidnapping and killing people.
Though it's likely the vile fiend wasn't as powerful as a Kizuki member, you knew not to underestimate any demon─regardless of their rank.
After all, even lower-ranked demons could prove to be formidable opponents if not dealt with carefully. As you set out to hunt down the demon behind the gruesome acts, you made sure to prepare yourself for whatever challenges may come your way. With your trusted blade and unwavering determination, you were ready to face whatever horrors awaited you in the shadows.
When nightfall came, you opted to patrol the streets and wait for the man to strike so you could slay him. You had already instructed your crow to call for backup immediately in case things were to go wrong.
You didn't survive in the Demon Slayer Corps for this long without a good reason. It was your duty to protect the innocent and rid the world of evil, no matter the cost. And you were more than willing to fulfill that duty, even if it meant putting your own life on the line.
Thus, the hunt was on!
At first, nothing out of the ordinary happened, and it was so quiet that you had to fight to remain conscious. Luckily, your time on Mount Fujikasane forced you to always remain on your guard while on missions.
Suddenly, the tap of wooden geta caught your attention, and when you snapped your head towards the sound, you saw a man with a purple bandana tied around his head and carry a strange box on his back.
The box reminded you of the one your friend Tanjiro Kamado uses to carry his little sister Nezuko.
His skin is very pale, his ears are pointy, and he has sharp canine teeth and dark blue eyes. His hair is dirty blonde and he is dressed in a vibrant kimono. Red markings outline the outsides of his eyes, with teardrop shapes underneath. He appears to be smirking, but it's actually because of a purple mark on his upper lip.
He, in fact, didn't appear to be human at all! Surely he must be the demon going around murdering people.
You gripped your katana tightly, the adrenaline coursing through your veins as you stared down the strange man before you.
Before you could even think twice, your body reacted instinctively, fluid and precise, as you lunged forward with the intent to behead the perceived demon.
"I have you now, demon!" you declared, voice laced with a mixture of determination and a hint of bloodlust as you unsheathed your nichirin blade.
It was a game of cat and mouse, with you relentlessly pursuing the stranger, driven by your conviction that this man was a demon that needed to be vanquished.
The stranger, however, seemed unfazed by your aggression, and with a brief glance, he turned and fled, disappearing into the shadows of the surrounding woods. Without hesitation, you gave chase, your feet pounding against the forest floor as you pursued the fleeing figure.
As the chase continued, the stranger seemed to effortlessly weave through the dense foliage, his movements fluid and graceful. You, however, refused to be deterred, your determination fueling your every step.
"You can't run forever, demon!" You shouted, your voice echoing through the woods.
The stranger remained silent, focusing on his escape. You could feel the frustration building within you, your desire to catch the elusive figure growing stronger with each passing moment.
Suddenly, the stranger took a sharp turn, disappearing behind a thicket of trees. You followed suit, your katana raised and ready to strike. But as you reached the clearing, the stranger was nowhere to be seen...
"Wh-what?" You quickly scanned the area, your senses heightened, searching for any sign of the fleeing demon.
"What is this demon you speak of?" Said a voice from behind you.
Startled, you quickly swung your sword back. However, the stranger skillfully intercepted your strike, effortlessly catching the blade between his index and middle finger.
"I'm afraid you must have me confused with someone else." With a quick flick of his wrist, he makes you lower your katana, and you can't help but snarl.
"I am not a demon, but a medicine seller," the stranger continued, his voice calm and soothing. "I am simply passing through," he tells you.
Despite his reassurances, you couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. The stranger's words seemed too good to be true, and his demeanor was too composed for someone who claimed to be innocent.
You scoffed, unable to contain your skepticism. "Yeah right. Are you seriously expecting me to believe that?"
The stranger's smile remained unwavering, and his expression betrayed no hint of offense at your disbelief. It was as if he had anticipated your reaction and was prepared to face your doubts head-on.
You stepped back, putting some distance between you two, before gripping and raising your katana once more. "With that appearance, anyone can see you're not human," you add, and you launch at him again.
The medicine seller was quick as he countered your attack with a weapon of his own. His blade was sheathed, with the saya (scabbard) being unlike anything you've ever seen. The hilt had the appearance of a komainu that's commonly found in Shinto shrines. And you could swear it clicked its teeth at you.
That's not normal.
You hesitated, unsure of what to make of this eponymous stranger who seemed to be more than meets the eye. However, you were finding it hard to believe his words.
"I understand your doubts, little demon slayer," the medicine seller said, his voice soft and suave. "But I assure you, I'm no demon, just a medicine seller, and my intentions are of no ill-will." He reassures.
"Besides, you should know not to ever judge a book by its cover."
"I..." You balk. "I don't trust you," you muttered, eyeing him warily as you tightened your grip on your own weapon, ready for any sudden moves.
The medicine seller merely chuckled. "Trust is a luxury not easily afforded in our line of work," he replied cryptically, his tone still gentle. "But rest assured, I am here to help, not harm."
Despite his reassurances, you couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that lingered in the air. The Komainu hilt seemed to mock you with its silent gaze, adding to the mystery surrounding this enigmatic figure before you.
"However, if you wish to kill me, then I am afraid I'd have no choice but to defend myself," he warned, his eyes never leaving yours.
In one swift movement, his weapon clashes with yours, knocking you back some. You attempted to use your Wisteria Breathing technique to counter his attack, but he was already one step ahead, effortlessly dodging your moves with a smirk on his face.
You couldn't help but admire his agility and skill.
As your little fight of keep away continued, you couldn't help but wonder about the true intentions of this enigmatic man.
Was he truly here to help, as he claimed, or was there more to his story than met the eye?
The way he moved with grace and precision was a clear indication of his expertise in combat, making it clear that you were facing a formidable opponent.
Frustration started to consume you as you observed that he showed no intention of drawing his sword or harming you in any way.
"Are you affiliated with Kibutsuji Muzan?" you inquired, seeking clarity.
"Muzan...?" The medicine seller tilted his head, looking puzzled.
"Y'know? The Demon King?" You prodded, trying to jog his memory.
"Hmm, I never heard of him," he responded. "Is he Mononoke?" he asked, sounding genuinely curious.
Oh wow, perhaps he is telling the truth about not being a demon, especially considering his unfamiliarity with Muzan.
You stopped attacking him and took a step back, feeling a mix of both relief and confusion. The medicine seller's genuine expression and lack of recognition of the name Kibutsuji Muzan made you question your assumptions.
Maybe he truly was not connected to the demons in any way. As you observed him closely, you noticed there wasn't a rank or number etched in his pupil, indicating that he's not a member of The Twelve Kizuki.
Despite his bizarre, non-human appearance, you couldn't help but believe him as you took your sword and sheathed it. The medicine seller, seeing this, puts his weapon away as well, tucking it into the obi of his kimono.
The tension in the air dissipated slowly as you considered the possibility that the medicine seller was not your enemy after all. His demeanor, now that you had stopped attacking him, was one of peaceful contemplation.
"So, you're not a demon?" You inquired.
"As I said before, I'm a humble medicine seller just passing through," he restated.
"Are you the one responsible for putting those strange tailsmans on people's doors?"
"Yes," he answered in earnest.
"Why?" You prressed further, wanting to understand his motives.
"To protect people from mononoke," he explained. "They're vengeful spirits that feed off negative emotions, do things like possess individuals, and make them suffer, cause disease, or even death."
"Oh!" You're surprised at this, as the medicine seller continues.
"I use my knowledge and abilities to fend off the mononoke until I can learn the spirit's shape, truth, and reason. Only then can I unsheathe my blade and kill the spirit." He said, gesturing to the seemingly sentient sword in his obi.
"So, you're like me but a ghost hunter?" You asked, now both intrigued and amazed, as stars twinkled in your eyes.
The medicine seller chuckles, "Sort of."
You felt a wave of relief wash over you as you realized that the medicine seller was actually not a threat. The initial fear and tension that had gripped you just moments ago now seemed like a distant memory.
"That's so cool, Mr. Kusuriuri-san," you commented, and he smiled at the name.
Soon, you felt a twinge of guilt for attacking him earlier as you lean forward and bow. "Please forgive me, Kusuriuri, for trying to kill you," you apologized.
"I was quick to judge you without knowing the whole story," you added, feeling a sense of regret for your actions.
But the medicine seller simply chuckled and reassured you that he held no grudges.
"It's okay, little demon slayer. It is a common reaction when faced with the unknown," he reassured you, his tone gentle as always. "You were simply doing your job. I understand it's your solemn duty to protect humanity from this Muzan and his army of demons."
You blushed upon feeling his hand pat your head, a gesture that conveyed both approval and reassurance. In that moment, you felt a surge of gratitude towards him for his understanding. It was a reminder of why you had taken on the mantle of demon slayer in the first place—to safeguard the innocent and uphold justice in a world threatened by Muzan and his demons.
It seems both you and Kusuriuri share a common goal. You, a demon slayer, and he, a mononoke hunter, both seek to rid the world of dark forces that threaten the balance.
"So, what are the mononoke you're hunting, Kusuriuri-san?" You soon asked him.
"They are ikiryō (live spirits) and are the restless souls of the villagers who have been slaughtered by the demon you've been summoned to seek and destroy." He tells you.
"Really?"
"Yes," Kusuriuri nods. "The demon is their truth, but unfortunately, my abilities are futile against such a fiend. So, I'm in need of your aid, demon slayer. If you kill the vile demon, only then can I vanquish the ikiryō, so that they may find peace." He explains.
As you mulled over Kusuriuri's words, you realized the fate of the village rested in your hands, and the lives of the innocent villagers hung in the balance.
And so, with determination coursing through you, you smiled before agreeing to lend him your aid.
"Thank you," Kusuriuri murmured as he then informed you where the demon was hiding.
You were ready to confront the demon and bring peace to the restless souls.

Here as a pallet cleanser: can you tell us about rex and bub's first relationships (either first hookup or first long term relationship)? What were they like, how old were each of them?
oh my god a genuine question... it's been 84 years (thank you)
Let's do Bub first: so Bub's age is kind of nebulous to me, so i can't give you a deifned number, but one of his first serious relationships was with Belphi, my blue Sloth devil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bub and Belphi are around the same age and were fledgling devils together back in Hell. In a lot of ways, they were together out of complacency. They found each other easy to be around, and their sins, Sloth and Gluttony, complimented each other in a way that made it easy to just chase oblivion together.
Bub saw their arrangement as a "friends with benefits" situation, someone to jack off with, a hole to fuck, a someone to get high with, a friend to lounge around and forget his responsibilities with.
But he also used Belphi as a shoulder to cry on. A source of comfort when he was feeling sorry for himself. Someone to make him feel strong when he felt weak.
Suffice it to say, Belphi saw more in their relationship.
Belphi saw Bub as his whole world.
In the current canon, Belphi is still desperately in love with Bub, but he is his embittered ex sworn on dragging him back to Hell himself. he feels betrayed that Bub left Hell and his duties to his kind for a human, let alone a famed demonslayer. It is Belphi's personal mission to kill them both.
But, being kind of devil he is...he'll get around to it. Eventually. Maybe... He's just not ready yet, you see!! (insert list of excuses here) Now, for Rex:
I haven't fully committed to this yet, but I am....really enjoying the angst potential of Rex having a wife and child. A comp-het betrothed wife he ran away from when he met Bub.
I think they were married when they were both 20. It was an arranged marriage, preordained by the Fontaine witchunters seeking to form good-will with an allied cleric clan. You see, Rex was in line to be the next leader of the Holy Fontaine Witchhunters and Slayers, and he would need to further secure his lineage with an heir, a family.
I actually tried designing his bride a while back. I took inspiration from various media-witches, but nothing really stuck for me.
Tumblr media
anyways- his wife would've been a good Christian woman. Chaste, (ignore the titty-out sketches xjkfhgnx) dignified, gorgeous. She was funny, kind, sincere, but strong-willed and had back-bone. And she loved Rex.
And Rex really thought he loved her. Who wouldn't? She was a wonderful young woman, and he was really good at playing the part. Rex is nothing if not charming, and he had everyone convinced he was happy. Even himself. Everyone except for his wife, however.
His wife, (this poor woman who I have yet to design or name...) knew she never really had her husband's heart, and in a way, Rex knew that she knew. Without ever exchanging words, they just knew. She was supposed to be happy because she was the esteemed wife of the leader of the prestigious Fontaine Family, and he was supposed to be happy for being in such a great position of power with a beautiful wife and child.
And yet they were miserable.
It's easy to have a sexless marriage when you're in a god-fearing, sex-is-sin environment, so Rex aside from consummating his marriage, he was able to avoid the elephant in the room for as long as possible.
Until he met Bub, at least

So there's probably this ship dynamic "small n violent x tall n calm softie (who will rock your shi if small n violent gets hurt) and itnmade me think of a demonslayer!reader and flamepillar!senjuro AU where even tho reader is straight up pint-sized they act tsundereish n tough with a cuter, softer interior (basically natsuki) and then at when look at Senjuro who seems like the sweetest, most patient guy ever until reader gets hurt n that's when he starts seeing red??
(Basically, this version of yan!senjuro can and will kill but mostly if it's demons because humans are very unlikely)
small & violent! demon slayer! reader w/ yandere! softie! flame hashira! senjuro
Tumblr media
a/n this was a very cute request; I had fun writing this. I hope you enjoy it ♡
-when you two first started dating, a lot of people were surprised to see two total opposites together. they thought of senjuro as the peacemaker, knowing him as a sweet, patient, and kind person, and now someone who could keep you under control. when in fact goes both ways, although getting senjuro to be angry is quite rare, it would only happen when you get hurt. that’s when you need to get him under control from going on a rage against the person/demon who hurt you.
-this makes going on missions with him a challenge, he unintentionally treats you as if you’re a child that can’t defend themselves. he becomes extra protective of you during these shared missions, always going in front of you, telling you to stay back, covering for you so you don’t get hurt, etc. he just doesn’t want to see another loved one die, especially after what happened to kyojuro.
-now if you do somehow get hurt on a mission together, he death glares the demon who did it and go all out on them, pulling all stops to decapitate the demon. then, after decapitating the demon, he quickly goes back to you, tending to your injuries and carrying you back to the butterfly mansion. it doesn’t matter if it was a serious injury to the head or a simple scrape on the knee, he is carrying you back.
-about your tsundere-like personality: senjuro would have mixed feelings, since you’re not exactly true to yourself like when you say you don’t like something when it’s pretty obvious you do. he dislikes it, it makes it harder to understand you. but at the same time he loves it when you deny something with a flustered face, he finds it to be really cute, though he would never voice this.
-when you open up to him and show your cuter, softer interior he falls more in love with you and becomes even more protective over you. he becomes clingy to you, staying by your side at all times and shows a slight possessive side. his possessiveness isn’t obvious at first but you could occasionally see him glaring at a guy who talked to you while trying to cover it up with a smile saying it’s nothing. he doesn’t do anything about his jealousy other than gently pulling you closer. although later he might threaten the guy to never talking to you again
-loves the height difference between you two, you being shorter than him makes him feel like he has to protect you despite knowing how tough you can be. and he would sometimes very light heartedly tease you about being shorter than him. as well as gently ruffling your hair with a smile when you pout up at him.

Tumblr media
You were slashing through the buildings, trying to get back to Genya and Tanjiro and his sister. You were launched far away with the stick that one of the demons had. You were confused. How could the demon just split? Tanjiro mentioned this had happened before, but into four? You had no chance.
You ran through the forest before suddenly slowing down. Something felt off, the way the air stopped moving. A breeze hit you on your face. Not just any regular one though. No. It was sharp. Something had flew past you. Hitting the floor. A yari. "What the fuck?" You whispered.
You snapped your neck at a sudden sound that was made. Nothing.
"Who's there?" The demon watched you from the darkest parts of the forest. Hiding in the shadows to watch your every move. The way you moved around. The way you held yourself and held your weapon.
He was engrossed. Your hair slightly bouncing as you looked around with fear in your eyes. Not just fear, confidence. Your eyes lit up, ready to attack whatever came at you. He admired your lips, the slow part as you took deep breaths. How full and plump they looked..
He was cut out of his thoughts when a weapon was thrown in his direction. He stood in one place too long. "Come out." You hissed.
He walked out. His eyes darting around at everything, but you. "S-sorry." You glared. You knew demons were weird, they all had their own unique way of fighting. You were on edge.
You cursed yourself for throwing your weapon. He held it in his hands. "D-do you want this back..."
"What?" Your jaw dropped. He moved in closer as you stepped back. "Stay back."
"Do you not want this..?" He looked you up and down, you had holes in your clothes. You shifted uncomfortably before running towards him, catching him off guard as you yank your weapon out of his arms.
You breathed heavily as you stood a couple feet away from him. He caught a whiff of you. He noticed the anger on your face. It made him sad you looked at him like that. You ran at him slashing your weapon.
"How rude." He jumped backwards. Eyeing the way you ran as you took your attacks, attempting to catch your rival off guard.
Soon your battle became a dance, the two of you not getting hits on each other. More so liquid movements. Truly the two of you were dancing.
You stumbled backwards, catching your breath as he held his Yari. You ran and jumped towards him. You were having fun! You grip your hold on your katana and fell towards him, attempting to slash once again.
He caught you effortlessly. His arms wrapping around your waist and pulling you close. You drop your weapon and yelp in surprise.
His face was close to your own. His blue eyes grew soft. "It hurts.." Your face scrunched up in confusion.
"What?"
"Being in love with someone who doesn't love you back.." His tight held onto you tighter. Your eyes widen.
He couldn't have been talking about you right? There's no way.
"W-what are you talking about let me go!" You slapped and grabbed at his arms, trying to pull yourself out. You were warm, he didn't want to let go. He couldn't let you go.
"I love you."
"You can't! You're a demon you have no feelings." Oh but he did, he felt it. "I'm a demon slayer! I can't!' You struggled, oh how you felt so weak in his arms. Your feet dangling as he held you flushed against his chest.
His hold on you went tighter, he felt weird? He didn't like how you were trying to leave him. You looked up at him.
Holding eye contact, you freeze. Why were his eyes so enticing? No you can't. You look away and wiggle around some more.
"Don't look away.." He sounded upset, like he was going to cry.
You snap back at him your e/c orbs catching his blue ones. "Let me go."
"I can't do that."
"You can and you will." You grunted out as you closed your eyes and threw your head back. Throwing it forwards, in an attempt to headbutt the demon. Something you learned from Tanjiro ;)
Sudden, a warm feeling took over your mouth. Your eyes go wide as you pull back and look at the demon who held you. Heart racing you couldn't move. What was this demon doing, he was trying to use you. You were baffled.
Although, the way he looked at you, the look on his face was something no demon has ever held. The way his eyes flickered over you, his arms holding you up. That slowly moved under your thighs to hold you up, making you wrap them around his waist. "Wait- I can't I'm a demon slayer, and you are a demon." You could easily pull away from him now.
His hold had loosened and yet you stayed still. You felt wrong, but the feeling in your chest was something new. Fire? Something warm was taking you over. Was it because it was your first kiss? Were your hormones confused?
The demon brought a hand to the back of your neck and pulled you closer, your lips touching for a second. He pulled back and brought the hand behind your neck to your cheek. Thumb softly caressing your bottom lip.
You watched his eyes in content as he basically drooled from the way your lips felt. He pressed his thumb down on it. He couldn't help himself.
His lips meet yours once more, the two of you dancing once again. In a newfound way.
His hand found it's way back down your back and holding your hip. Lips smacking and wet sounds traveled.
He nibbles on your lip before shoving his tongue in your mouth. You wrap your arms around his neck. You hated how you enjoyed this.
Maybe it felt good because it was wrong. You pulled away from his lips and gasped for air. Only for him to come back, his lips hungry for your own.
You pulled back once again and blinked. You realized who he was again. "Fuck.." You shoved off of him as he stared at you with lust filled eyes. "I can't love you.. I'm a demon slayer." You ran off, without looking back. Your chest hurt, but oh boy did you enjoy that. He watched you run off, he smirked. He would have to find you later on.
Although he knew you would never love him.

NOAH???? ASPLAIN THE SUPER POWERED AU???
HI HI HI RABBIT THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!! Putting a readmore bc oh boy I’m like a third of the way through writing the explanation rn and I’ve realized it’s going to be so long
So the main basis of the au is explained in the name: Super powers exist and the characters I use in my Chzo Mythos au have them(most of them have them anyway)
Instead of the Ministry of Occultism there is a Ministry Of Heroism, acting against both cults that still exist in this au and villains, but don’t worry it’s every bit as corrupt and awful as I usually write it. We can’t have good government organizations now, it wouldn’t be my writing if we did would it? They view the people they recruit and train as tools, a means to an end, the end being public safety yes, but the heroes are treated like canon fodder more than actual soldiers or people, and those who are deemed possible dangers to the ministry are watched with a close eye and restricted from almost all autonomy
Which leads to Demonslayer’s revolting against the organization. When the ministry had found Chris Quinn he was still recovering from a horrifying and traumatic ordeal that brought him his powers of super strength, along with a mysterious spell book called the tome of transformation, and fractured his memories in the process. He was afraid and confused and yet trying his best to use his newfound strength and abilities to help others. Freelance heroism if you will. After he killed an innocent man in a hallucinogenic and ptsd induced delusion the ministry pounced at their chance, offering to help him adjust to his powers, give him a place to stay, and erase the charges in exchange for his loyalty to their cause. And as far as Chris could see at the time he was being offered all this help, only in exchange for him to continue heroism, but now with support. So he jumped at the chance.
And was treated like shit for years. Like a ticking time bomb, like he was nothing but a loony, like he was inherently dangerous. He quickly gained a lot of expertise in areas of the occult(demons, cult summonings, ancients, etc, thus earning the hero identity of Demonslayer), but he also often questioned the true intentions of the ministry and their treatment of those that worked for them. So between his powers, knowledge, and suspicions, he was viewed as a clear threat to the ministry. And it didn’t help the damage they did to his reputation that his methods for taking down non human entities were often… bloodier than strictly necessary.
He eventually got tired of the mistreatment, and convinced a close friend of his(Walker, hero name BlindSpot, who’s power was discovering well… people and things’ blind spots, meaning he was also seen as a possible danger but not treated as badly since until Chris convinced him to leave he’d shown no signs of not trusting the ministry. He was smart enough to keep his doubts strictly to himself) to leave with him. At first Walker assumed Chris’ plan was only to take down the ministry, maybe create a better type of organized heroism even, but at this point Chris’ plans were much darker. If the ministry wanted to make him seem unstable and violent he’d give them a reason too.
And Walker genuinely wanted to believe the Chris he used to fight alongside for the good of the people was still in there somewhere. And at least working for Chris he got to regularly see his family and was able to actually have a private life. So he stayed, but constantly was trying to convince Chris not to turn his anger on the people of England. They hadn’t done anything. It was the ministry at fault. To varying degrees of success.
During this time Chris kept connections with Claire, who still has her clairvoyant abilities, and basically paid her for intel on the ministry and their plans. He fully views her as a friend and believes her to be loyal to him. I decided Claire deserves a slight villain arc so she’s actually trying to take down the ministry from the inside, and is willing to work with whoever seems most likely to do that to achieve this goal. Chris is just a convenient option. Usually in any of my aus with Claire in the ministry they took advantage of her and her powers after the most traumatizing moment of her life and forced her to give up on all her hopes and dreams when she was still only a teenager. So like. She can be bitter and vengeful this time. She deserves it.
Trilby is still the guide and all that. But he also has the power of invisibility, which allowed him to become an even greater thief than in canon. Seriously. This guy could steal anything. Until the DaFoe Manor events and the soon following mental breakdown during his next mansion job. Where the ministry was like ‘Hey want a get out of jail free card? We bet you do. Collect intel for us instead of stealing and all will be forgiven.’ And he didn’t exactly have any options so, yeah sure he’ll go find intel for you guys.
And the ministry obviously wants Chris out of the way as quickly as possible, preferably dead, but they don’t know shit about what his long term plans are and nobody thus far has been able to get into his base.
So they send Trilby.
And Trilby is stopped by Walker bc Hey if there wasn’t a person there he wouldn’t be seeing their blind spots. Invisibility is kinda useless against him(not that Chris knows that)
And Walker explains that Chris used to be a good person, and he thinks if Chris were reminded that. Not all people are like those in the ministry, and most people are just. Normal. That maybe he could be swayed to the side of good again.
“And what does this have to do with me?”
“You’re going to help me achieve this. And if you don’t want to I guess I can just let Chris know we have visitors-“
“Wait-wait tell me the plan. Maybe I can help.” It’s not like Trilby was wild about the whole ‘yeah we’re going to find out what this guy’s planning then kill him dead’ plan the ministry had anyway
And… so conveniently Chris runs into Terrance Railby one day, who he quickly becomes friends with, and eventually gains feelings for.
And all the while, to keep the ministry from finding out about what he’s helping with Trilby is bringing intel to them just. Not anything useful.
So there’s this goofy little meetcute plot with Chris and Terry
Then this cat and mouse style rivalry between Chris and Trilby of Chris trying to finally catch and get rid of him once and for all and Trilby trying. Not to get caught.
Eventually Chris does catch Trilby and pretty well clobbers the poor guy, and then once Trilby’s too injured to hold his invisibility Chris takes off his mask and-
That’s Terry under there.
So all of Trilby’s lines about believe Chris could change and he wasn’t really a bad person and he didn’t actually want the ministry to get to Chris weren’t fake. They were genuine and Chris had just beat up one of the most important people in his life and now he’s looking at the light of his fucking life coughing up blood and terrified
Terrified of Chris
Because Chris did become what the ministry thought he was. And he only realized how bad that was after it was too late.
Cue the ministry believing Chris kidnapped Trilby but in reality he’s just been… nursing Trilby back to health. And while he does it there’s been no crimes committed by him. No deaths. Sure he’s scared away anyone who came looking for Trilbs but he didn’t seriously injure anyone. He’s done another total 180 in the blink of an eye. And all the while he’s trying to figure out how to fix whatever was between him and Trilby. Trying to figure out if anything beyond believing Chris wasn’t a monster was even real on Trilby’s side. Trying to figure out if he should just… let Trilby go once he’s better and never contact him again. Trilby forgives Chris way before Chris is able to forgive himself.
Once Trilby’s recovered to like everyone’s shock he quits the ministry and goes back to join Chris, who decides to go back into heroism, and instead of actively trying to dismantle the ministry, he creates his own sort of company for heroism and helps any heroes who want to escape the ministry to be a better life, with Claire’s help.
But while Claire is willing to help with Chris’ new pet project it’s not ever going to make the higher ups suffer the way she wants them to.
So she turns to selling information to an organization she knows wouldn’t change their mind on not resting until the ministry crumbles.
The Order of Blessed Agonies.
And if that means say… selling out Trilby in the process so be it.
I’m not entirely sure how/when the warrior would end up involved in this one since I’ve elected to keep him a gang member and all that and didn’t really give him a power
The wizard is easy because I Headcanon Penny as a dissenter from the order. In this au worshipping ancients gives magical abilities(so basically the spells in tsc and all but while you’re worshipping an ancient casting runes doesn’t have the negative mental effects, if you stop worshipping ancients then the negative mental effects return if you try to continue using magic), and Penny mysteriously seems to have kept both her magic and her sanity after dissenting. Which means both the ministry and the order along with most other cults would love to get their hands on her. So she turns to Chris’ organization for protection. Which is how they find out the Order is after Trilby… while Trilby has left to investigate something that seems related to the DaFoe Manor incident at the hotel I can’t remember how to spell the name of

Oooooo, thx!!!!
Okie,
Fav color(s): I have loved blue and red all my life (mainly bc of the twins I had a crush on), but purple seems to be my in-between. I also love teal and silver-
Currently reading: I'm not reading much tbh, maybe an Ao3 fic called "Moon sick" but it's an on and off read with how long it takes to upload (no shade, everyone at their own pace)
Last song: hmmmm, Actual song would have to be "Just a Man" from the Epic musical...
Currently watching (series): bungou stray dogs, jujitsu kaisen, demonslayer, and just finished good omens. (I've been in and out of them but these are the most recent)
Currently watching (movie): hmmmm, last movie I watched was "Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva". It's on hulu and I was curious. If you'd like a review I'd be glad, but I say go watch it. Honestly, watch any movie that's out of your normal movie range, it's worth it.
Current obsession: hmmm, I'd have to go with Good omens and me making stories in my head based off it. Again, if your curious, I'd be happy to write something sometime-
Currently working on: I'm working on a drawing, got it sketched now just need to do lineart. Then really nothing, I'm very bored between meetings for my current job in sales... so-
Have a great day, like I said earlier, I'd love some recommendations and ya!
Ill tag: @echoed-reaper-is-anxious @yashiro-ink @youknowwhoyouaremeep @yume-esmeray and anyone else!!!
9 People to Know Better (except I'm not tagging 9 people)
I don't normally do tag games, but I got tagged in this twice (by @jealous-kippen and @remmixx, my beloveds <3) so here I am! (also as I'm writing this out I am realizing that while both posts were titled the same way, it looks like they had different question prompts??? So I'm just gonna combine the two)
Favorite Color: Purple! Any shade will have my heart but I am partial to more red-toned purples. (PV, if that means anything to anyone who sees this other than me, you know who you are)
Currently Reading: Three things! In terms of actual books, I've been slowly making my way through the Riordanverse since my university did The Lightning Thief in my second year (first school in my state to do it once the rights were released!) since I somehow never got into Percy Jackson as a kid, and I'm currently on Son of Neptune. I'm also one like my third or fourth re-read of Eurydice by Sara Ruhl, since that's the play I'm designing the costumes for for my senior project. And in terms of fanfic, I woke up to a notification about this yesterday and Actually Screeched.
Last Song: Dial Drunk by Noah Kahan (ft. Post Malone), which was a bit of an accident. I use siri to request music while I'm driving and I asked for Dial Drunk and was singing along until I got jumpscared by the slight difference before Post Malone's verse. Although if you look at my spotify, the ROTPL album has been on repeat for weeks.
Currently Watching (Series): I've been hyperfixated on ROTPL and have watched it over a dozen times at this point, which is probably not healthy, so I put on NCIS last night for background noise while I ate dinner and accidentally watched like six episodes.
Currently Watching (Movie): Saw the Barbie movie the night before the actual opening with my coworkers (We don't cross picket lines people! I was not asked nor invited by any company, and I paid full price for my ticket. There's a one-screen theatre in the town where I'm doing summer stock, this relic from the 50's, and they were able to get access to the film a day early and did a special first come first serve premiere.) and we all sobbed the entire way through.
Current Obsession: Rise of the Pink Ladies. Full stop. I'd seen clips of it when it first aired in April but I was iffy on it in spite of how good it looked. Like most, I'm a little tired of reboots and remakes, and while I did clock Cynthia as being queer within two seconds, (I believe my exact words were "That's either a very butch lesbian or the eggiest egg to ever egg.") I was Convinced it was a queerbait situation. Plus I was nearing finals and didn't have time to get into a new show. But then Crushing Me was trending on tiktok and I realized this was not queerbait, so I put it on to have something playing while I packed for summer stock and it's been the only thing I can think about since mid May. It got me writing fanfic again for the first time in years, if that tells you anything. Speaking of,
Currently Working On: A follow-up to my previous fic, Steady, Steady! I wanted to have it up this week, but it is a behemoth. I'm a little over halfway through my plot outline and I'm at 10,441 words. Fun fact, this will be my longest single-chapter fic so far. Not just in the fandom, not just on AO3, but ever (so far!)
No-Pressure Tagging: @merely-a-player, @penguin-writes-books, @el-fandom-birb, @marley-barnes112, @isweartheyregayyourhonor, and @look-at-those-niceass-rocks (since I've already dragged you back to tumblr kicking and screaming)

Akaza x Afab!DemonSlayer!Reader
A/N: Zesty?? (Yes.) Borderline smut?? (Maybe??) Language will be used along with sexual themes. Mentions of character death (minor characters), gore, and violence. Minors and ageless blogs please do not interact, I will have no choice but to block you if you do. Not proofread (because that’s a thing I do-). And with that, enjoy!
Summary: You were sent out on a mission to investigate the disappearances of local men in a mysterious village with nothing but a handful of tsuchinoto by your side. But soon your tsuchinoto are taken from you and you’re left facing an upper moon who wants nothing more than for you to become a demon with him. And he refuses to leave you alone until you do so.
Tumblr media
“Hey Y/N, what do you think the demon here is going to be like?” One of your pupils, Suzume Takagi, asked excitedly. You and your small group trudged through the most dense forest you’ve ever seen while on your way to a local village. Apparently, there had been a large reported number of men going missing in the area and Ubuyashiki had thought it was a demon’s doing. So here you were, entertaining a bunch of tsuchinoto while constantly getting hit in the face by random tree branches.
“Oh well I don’t know,” you sighed, ducking underneath some vines. “But I do find it incredibly odd that it’s only targeting men…” you trailed off and Suzume looked at you, her eyes wide. “Maybe the demon has a grudge against them? Something that happened during their human life that they want to get revenge for in their demon one?”
“Oh Y/N!” She exclaimed, clasping her hands together. “That’s the best idea ever! You’re so smart!” Suzume giggled and ran over to where the other tsuchinoto were to tell them what you had just told her. You didn’t know why, but they seemingly worshipped you. Maybe it was because you were a kinoe? The fact that you were roughly their age and bordering being referred to as a hashira definitely had something to do with it.
They were a great bunch though, they each had the potential to climb up the ranks as you had done. You just hoped they lived long enough to get there.
Once you had arrived at the village, you gave the tsuchinoto permission to separate and ask locals about the disappearances that had been happening. Suzume was ecstatic to be able to work on her own, mainly because she wanted to show off for you, but as long as she was working, it was all good.
Hours had passed since your group had split up and the sun had just set, meaning that the demons were coming out to play. From your hiding spot in the trees, you could even see a couple of them prowling around. You hummed, those demons weren’t the one behind the disappearances. You put your back to the tree and lifted your head up, slowing your breathing so you would be able to sense when this demon arrived.
A nearby scream snapped you from your thoughts. It sounded like it was a- woman! “Oh my god Suzume!” You frantically spun around, desperately looking for your tsuchinoto. “Suzume?!” Just then, another scream rang out, almost in response to your call, but it wasn’t Suzume. It was another member of your group. “Oh my god.” You mumbled to yourself, falling to your knees in horror. You brought your hands up to your hands and buried it in them. “Oh my fucking god.”
You screamed at the top of your lungs in pain. This was the first time you had ever been sent out with a group and you failed to protect them. They looked up to you. They respected you greatly. Hell, they trusted you to keep them safe, and you failed to do so. Your newfound rage was overwhelming you, and it led you to make a promise to avenge them.
In a split second, you took off into the forest with the same speed as a hashira and slayed any demon that crossed your path. Your rage had turned you into a heartless monster. You killed them, and with a smile on your face. You didn’t care about their pasts, the troubles that they had endured before they became demons. You didn’t care when they begged for mercy when you attacked them, you didn’t even bother to hear them out. In fact, you left a good handful of them staked to the tops of trees so they could get a final glimpse of the sunlight before they died for good. You didn’t care that they had called you horrible names before you lopped off their stupid little heads, it made no difference to you. You didn’t care because those demons didn’t care when they killed your comrades.
You stood in silence, wearing a deranged smile as you watched the last demon’s body fade away into nonexistence. Even after it’s body had gone, you just stood there, your blade in one hand and part of Suzume’s uniform in the other. Your exhaustion was beginning to catch up to you, forcing you to resort to using your katana as a cane.
Your entire body was shaking, making it even harder to maintain your balance. Panting heavily, you made your way over to a nearby tree so you could rest. But you didn’t dare to let yourself fall asleep, since you were being watched.
You had felt the burning stare of this stranger since you had been standing in the tree, but yet they were masking their presence, practically in hiding. “Coward,” you hissed, grabbing your side in pain. In the state you were in, you wouldn’t be able to stand your ground against whoever was watching you.
“Pardon me?” A man’s voice asked, his voice coming from the same direction as the stare. “Did you say, coward?” He slowly emerged from the bushes as he spoke, finally revealing himself to you.
“I did,” you glared, quickly getting to your feet. Sure it hurt like hell, but you weren’t about to look weak in front of your opponent. You channeled your breathing and stood tall. “But I guess you aren’t all that cowardly if you rose to the challenge.” You taunted.
His yellow eyes glimmered mischievously in the moonlight, which was about the only thing that you were able to see other than his muscular form. His eyes read “upper six”, which meant that he was a hashira killer, and a real threat to your life. “I can see that you’re injured terribly,” he feigned empathy with a smirk, crossing his arms and observing your reaction.
“Just a scratch,” you shrugged.
“It’s a shame, I’ve been wanting to fight you for so long and by the time I get to you, you’re injured.” He sighed, mocking you. “You poor thing.”
“Watching me?!” You were surprised that you hadn’t noticed sooner. You rolled your eyes, annoyed at how he was trying to mess with you. “Yeah right, I would have noticed that.” Your tone was overconfident, causing the demon to chuckle.
“Then why didn’t you?” He tilted his head, smirking. He took one step closer to you, moving to take another, but you stopped him, your blade poking at his neck.
“You’re bluffing.” In a swift move, you disappeared, appearing behind him and making your move to lop off his head. He turned around to meet your gaze with a smile and stopped your katana with his hand.
“Wow wow! You’re so much stronger than I had imagined!” He said excitedly, looking at his injured hand sadistically. He brought it up to his tongue and licked away his trickling blood before it could heal. “I simply must know, what is your name?”
“If you’ve been watching me for some time then how come you don’t know it?” You questioned sarcastically. You were doing your best to keep your strength, but your legs were beginning to shake and you were beginning to sway slightly.
“Now Y/N I don’t need you dying on me,” he smirked, catching you when your legs gave in. The demon bent down so you could rest your head atop his lap, and since you were now immobilized, you couldn’t run from what he was about to tell you. “I have no intentions of killing you, it goes against my personal standards,” he began resting his palm gently on your forehead, recoiling at how warm you were.
“Then why are you here? What do you want from me?” Your voice was weak and shaky, you were afraid of what was going to happen next. Clearly this demon was unpredictable if he wasn’t going to kill you.
“Oh don’t be too worried,” he sighed, his tone arrogant. “I just wish for you to become a demon.” You saw his eyes light up and his smile grow at the mention of such a thought. “Just imagine how strong you would be! And you could fight me as many times as you’d like! Maybe you could even become an upper moon like me!” His eyes met yours, the excitement fading from them as he saw that you weren’t as happy as he was.
“I would rather die.” You laughed, right in his face, proving your loyalty to the demon slayer corps, which annoyed him. He dug his fist into your ribs, causing you to cry out in pain. You tried to grab your sword, but he got to it first and threw it to the side.
“Are you sure about that?” He teased. You could see the malice shining through his yellow eyes, it was practically blinding.
You coughed, blood trickling down your chin as you smiled confidently up at him. “Of course. If you had really been watching me, you would have known that I wouldn’t fall for it.”
The demon snarled, pushing your head off of his lap and rising to his feet. His aura had changed, no longer showing pure hatred, but rather slight sadness. He avoided your eyes and clenched his fists in false anger.
“I can promise you, Y/N, you will see me again. I won’t stop until you give in to my request. And if you happen to change your mind while I’m not around, call out the name Akaza, and I’ll be there in a heartbeat.” You saw him vanish before your body gave in to your exhaustion, leaving you unconscious on the forest floor.
Tumblr media
“Hello? Hello can you hear me?” A kakushi called out to you, their voice frantic. “Ma’am?!” They shook you into consciousness, eyes lighting up with relief when you returned their stare. They looked behind them and called out to another kakushi excitedly, “She’s alive! We should take her back to Lady Kocho right away!”
“How badly is she wounded?” The other kakushi came over to inspect you.
“A handful of broken ribs and some scars here and there, it really is a miracle that she survived.” They turned to face you, eyes gleaming. “When we saw that you had taken out every demon in this area, we were all amazed! Even Lady Kocho was surprised!” They continued to tell their story, but you were far too out of it to pay attention.
“My… head… is… killing… me,” you spoke, voice barely above a whisper.
“Oh don’t worry ma’am, Lady Kocho is on her way! She was just inspecting the damage to the area, once she’s finished up, she’ll take you back to her estate and you’ll be feeling better in no time I’m sure!”
You sighed weakly, closing your eyes to rest once again. You had used too much energy and ended up overestimating your abilities.
You heard the light footsteps of who you assumed to be Lady Kocho, she spoke to you in a gentle tone, explaining sweetly how you were going to be taken care of, and instead of being at her estate, you were going to be taken back to yours since she no longer had any room in her infirmary.
It was the last thing you remembered before you blacked out again and woke up in your own bed.
Your abdomen was bandaged and wrapped tightly, and you were already starting to feel better, but it was just bs because you had broken multiple ribs and obviously needed more time to recover. But as soon as you found yourself recovering, you took it upon yourself to train heavily.
You had even created new moves for your breathing style, ones that were much more powerful than your last. You were sure that these ones would take out that demon the next time he appeared.
Now, it was dusk, and you were still perfecting your 12th form to mist breathing, sweat dripping down your cheeks. You had taken a little break so you could observe the sunset, and it was simply beautiful.
You had finally cleared your mind, and now you were free to enjoy the beauty of the life around you, but your enjoyment was cut short when you saw the yellow eyes of Akaza in the distance. He was still watching you, hoping that you’d join him as a demon. You thought he was crazy, since he was literally watching you train to kill him and he still wanted you to be his gal pal.
You rolled your eyes and ignored him, putting away your training gear before heading back inside your estate. You felt his burning gaze as you did so, but thankfully you were inside the confines of your house.
“What the hell?!” You wiped your brow and cautiously peered out your window. His eyes continued to gleam in the moonlight, which only made you nervous. “God take a hint.” You went to your bedroom and began to undress so you could bathe in a nearby pond, even if he was watching. It made no difference to you, as long as you were nice and clean.
It was far from safe, but you couldn’t have cared less.
“Maybe the sight of me naked will scare him away,” you laughed to yourself, sliding your robe over your bare shoulders and sliding on some decent slippers before walking out the door. You kept your katana with you, making sure Akaza could see that even if you were vulnerable, you still bore a weapon. And your weapon made you a threat.
Once you were emerged in the water, you felt yourself relax, the weight of your troubles finally lifting off your shoulders. You lifted your head, admiring the beautiful stars above you. You were thankful that you were still able to admire them, unlike Suzume and the others. A tear fell down your cheek at the memory of your comrades.
“Oh? What’s wrong Y/N?” A familiar voice pulled you out of your thoughts. In the water, directly across from you, sat Akaza, wearing nothing but a shit-eating grin.
You glared at him before you returned to your stargazing. “What do you want?” You were pissed, but you couldn’t run out because of how vulnerable you would be. Plus, you had to pretend like him being bare ass naked didn’t bother you.
“I’ve come to see if you’ve changed your mind at all.” He shrugged, running a hand through his hair. The sound of water swishing around reached your ears, he was moving towards you. You shuddered when he wrapped his arm around your shoulder gently, leaning in so he could whisper in your ear. “Have you~?”
You quickly pushed him away, laughing in his face. “You’ve got some nerve. You do know that I have the power to kill you, right? I’ve recovered since our last meeting.” You sunk deeper into the water, trying to keep yourself covered while maintaining your threatening aura.
“Then why don’t you?” Akaza leaned forward, chuckling when you stumbled back. “I’ve been watching you, and I know you’ve seen me, so why haven’t you killed me yet?” He was clearly mocking you, doing his best to provoke you into fighting him. It was working.
You were furious, and it looks could kill, the one you were giving him right now would send him six feet under. “Fuck off. You’re making me regret sparing your life.” Your mind was racing with all the possible ways you could get to your sword and keep your dignity at the same time. Thankfully, there was one form of mist breathing that didn’t require your blade.
“Mist breathing: eighth form!” You called out, staring into Akaza’s eyes. “Steam!” This form was one that bordered both the water and flame breathing styles, and it allowed you full coverage so you could hop out, slide on your robe, and prepare for battle.
The eighth form of mist breathing causes any nearby water to boil intensely, causing steam to rise and the victim’s skin to burn. It was a form that you yourself had come up with, one that no one else knew. It demonstrated your undeniable abilities, only making Akaza desire you more.
You heard him cry out in pain, along with the violent sloshing of water. “What’s wrong?” You taunted. “Does it hurt?”
“Just a little~” He whispered in your ear, placing his hands on your shoulders. “You’re so strong Y/N! I can’t wait to fight you!” The demon hugged you from behind, resting his head in the crook of your neck.
“Fuck off, you god damned perv!” You shouted, widely swinging your katana. He smiled at you, easily dodging your attack. You continued to chase him, not yet ready to use your mist breathing. You needed to be sure you’d be able to get a hit in before you could do so, and he was making it incredibly hard to do so.
Before you knew it, you had cut off his arm and he was on the ground, your foot on his chest.
You didn’t dare to look anywhere but his eyes, but you couldn’t ignore how muscular he was. He had to have let you win just now, because there was no way that you would have beat him otherwise. It was painfully clear what he was trying to do to you, a demon chasing after a woman after being deprived of sex for so long, it only made you hate him more. But it did strike curiosity in you.
“Why exactly do you want me to become a demon?” You questioned, the blade of your katana pressed against his throat.
Akaza laughed, his eyes lighting up as he stared at you. “I can’t believe you’re actually considering it no- ack!” You put more pressure on the katana, causing blood to trickle down his neck onto the grass. It was a clear sign for him to get to the point, but you could see something else in his eyes that definitely wasn’t pain. In fact, if you hadn’t known any better, you would have said that he had moaned at the contact.
“God damn it, why am I wasting my time on you,” you rolled your eyes, and instead of putting pressure on your katana, you put all your weight onto the foot holding him down. It knocked the wind out of him and you heard another moan pass through his lips.
“S-say my name.” He smirked, bringing his hands slowly up to your bare leg, caressing it gently. “M-maybe then I’ll tell you.”
The feeling of his calloused hands on your calf caused you to shudder in a way that you didn’t know was possible. It seemed that whenever he handled you he was gentle, despite his demonic being. You found it incredibly odd, but you couldn’t help but want to see where this was going to go.
You could feel the tension in the air grow, nearly suffocating you. With a sigh, you looked at him and shook his hands off of your leg. “What if I forgot it? Am I just signing up for something blindly then?”
“Oh I know damn well you have yet to forget the name of the demon who has you strung up like this.” Akaza smirked, propping himself up onto one elbow. His response took you by surprise, allowing him to knock you off your feet and trap you underneath him this time. “I mean, look at you, I’ve been driving you crazy, haven’t I?”
You swallowed thickly, a heavy blush rushing to your cheeks. His arms were on either side of your head and he had one knee in between your legs, and to make things worse, he was still naked. You had done your best earlier to avoid looking past his waist so you wouldn’t end up being scarred for life but with the way you were laying it made it very, very, hard not to do so.
Of course, your self control wasn’t the only thing hard to keep in check. You could feel his large cock against the side of your leg, which only made you more embarrassed.
“Oooh~ is something wrong Y/N?” He leaned in close to your face, his warm breath hitting your neck. You shivered, squeezing your eyes shut. “You know, if you became a demon,” he started, reaching out his hand and forcing you to look into his eyes. “We could be together forever. I’d always be there to protect you and provide for you when you’re…” he looked you up and down, licking his lips. “Frustrated like this. You’ll never have to worry about death ever again, and you’ll be strong enough to beat me if you do so desire.”
You could feel your heartbeat going wild with every word he spoke, he sounded so damn convincing, and what the hell was he doing leaning in so close to you anyways?! You were convinced that he was going to use you, leaving you out to die somewhere when he was done.
“Y/N, I want you- no, I need you. I’ve felt this way since I first saw your true strength.” He rest his body against yours, embracing you tightly in his arms. Akaza buried his head in the crook of your neck and sighed heavily, you could almost feel the sadness in his tone. “And I won’t leave you alone until one of two things happens: you say yes and we live the rest of our lives together, or you continue to refuse and you die naturally.” His arms tightened around you, making it hard for you to breathe.
“I don’t believe you,” you whispered harshly. While his tone sounded genuine, he was still a demon and could not be trusted. Akaza pulled away, pain showing in his eyes. You did feel a little guilty for allowing him to be so vulnerable and shutting it down. You sat up, your robe falling off one of your shoulders, making you look like even more of a mess. “I think you’re just trying to seduce me, and that once you get what you want you’ll be out of here faster than a deadbeat dad.”
“Y-Y/N-“ you interrupted him by glaring at him.
“There’s no way in hell a demon as powerful as you would go after a literal demon slayer. It makes no sense to me. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been watching me or whatever, you just wanna use me because that’s all anyone wants to do.” You fought back the sudden tears and looked away in shame. You didn’t know why you were getting so emotional, maybe it was the emotion that he had put into his little speech for you that had you feeling like this. You weren’t entirely sure, but it made you mad.
“Would you let me show you?” Akaza reached out for your hand, bringing up so you were sitting on your knees. “I mean if my words can’t convince you, then maybe something else can.” Your eyes widened at his request, he must be crazy. “Let me touch you Y/N~. I know you want me to~.”
You blushed again, knowing damn well how he knew. The damn bastard could smell your arousal and he was using it against you. “No- you’re si- ah~” His hand grabbed your thigh tightly, the sudden pain causing you to moan out.
“Oh my, how I love that sound you make,” Akaza shivered, bringing his head back to the crook of your neck and biting down. Another, louder moan slipped past your lips, despite how hard you had tried not to. He giggled and did it again, but harder, though he was careful not to break your skin. As his tongue tasted your neck, his hand moved further up your thigh, stopping before it became too far. Akaza may have been a demon, but he knew that consent was a thing, and wouldn’t take things further unless you wanted to.
“A-Akaza,” you panted out, looking away to hide your tomato-red face. “T-There i s-said your na- a-ah~ Akaza~!”
That was all it took for Akaza to dive into his meal, and all it took for you to have one hell of a sleepless night.

“Lady Y/N, you’ve got someone here to see you,” your wonderful maid Suzume informed you as you dressed yourself for the day. You looked into the mirror, smiling at your new, unique appearance. It was quite the change from what you used to look like, but you liked it better. You winked at yourself before turning around and heading out of your bedroom, on your way to meet your new guest.
In the halls, several of the servants bowed and greeted you happily, to which you waved and told them it wasn’t necessary to do so.
Suzume showed you to the lounge, where your guest was awaiting you. She had long, white hair with green tips, and what looked like the remains of a traditional oiran’s uniform. A large pink belt lay atop her waist, which was tied neatly into a bow behind her and when she turned around you saw that she had two striped of fabric down her chest that barely covered her breasts.
She greeted you with a smile and explained to you why she was there, saying how she had heard that her friend had gotten a woman and she wanted to see for herself if said woman was good enough for him. To your surprise, she had told you honestly that you had the aura of a kind and noble woman, one that indeed deserved to be respected and loved.
“I wish you a long and prosperous life with Akaza, I can tell that you deserve him as much as he does you, so I’ll leave you be for now.” She turned around and headed for the door, but before she left, she gave you another smile. “Just don’t tell him I stopped by or else he’ll be furious!”
She called herself “Daki.”

synopsis: if someone told you that one night you’d find yourself walking down the street at three in the morning before you were running for your life away from a disjointed monster hot on your heels- you’d probably check for fever or intoxication. but, when that actually happens, all you think of is running and praying for a miracle as you stare death in the face. turns out, that miracle comes in the form of reassuring smiles and a red sword beneath a bridge and by the riverside.

You were slouched against your locker in the back room where your aprons and extra clothes are kept by the end of your shift. The izakaya had finally closed, and while it was closed earlier than usual since patrons seemed to have filed out pretty quick tonight, the way your throbbing ankle felt didn't make the early closing any better. You had willed away most of the pain, carrying on as if nothing was wrong, and kept yourself busy with micro-breaks here and there, but now that it was all said and done, well, you’ve felt better.
You quickly took off your apron and tossed it in your locker and grabbed your purse, slinging it over your shoulder. Snatching your crutch, you placed it under your shoulder and sighed when you lifted your foot and relieved it of your weight.
“Christ,” you mutter to yourself before you’re hobbling your way out of the locker room, through the main lobby all the way to the entrance. You shouted to whoever may be around still, be it lingering coworkers or your boss, before you slid open the door and left. With a small show of your balance, you pushed the door shut with your crutch as you stood on your one good leg before bringing the crutch back down where it needed to be.
You sidle to the right away from the entrance, just out of reach for the hanging lamps to cast a shadow over you when you take a shaky breath. You found yourself paranoid in the early morning hours- but, you couldn’t blame yourself. The last time you were out this late after a shift, you almost died. You took a deep breath, then another… then another. You try calming yourself down, convincing yourself that what happened was a once-in-a-lifetime freak accident and there was no way you’d be unlucky enough to get caught up in something like that again.
“It’s fine,” you tell yourself. “I’m fine,” you repeat. The palm you used to grab the handle of your crutch felt sweaty, so you took it off for a moment and furiously wiped it on your shirt before returning it.  “You’re going to be fine,” you hiss to yourself, looking down at your feet, one uninjured and the other replaced with a crutch foot. The same feet that still wouldn’t move despite your pep talk.
Stuck in your mental battle on when you’re finally going to get your limbs to start taking you home, you completely miss the person walking up behind you until they call out to you.
“Is your ankle in much pain?”
You squawk, your crutch jumping out away from your leg and making your teeter before correcting yourself and using your other arm to reach across your body and grab onto the medical addition to your body in further stability. Whipping your head up, you once again come face to face with Rengoku. Still smiling, even if there’s a hint of concern in his wide eyes since he didn’t exactly mean to spook you. You also took notice of his arms that were outstretched and ready to catch you if you began careening down to the pavement.
You correct your posture and face him, feeling embarrassed for a number of reasons.
“I’m slated to never have a normal greeting with you, am I?” You speak more to yourself than him since every time you’ve encountered him so far- not including when he was a paying customer not so long ago- has been riddled with embarrassment or fear. You’ve come face to face with him three times now, and you conducted yourself better in front of Kocho who you had met once and stripped down to your bones in front of. “What are you still doing out at this hour?”
“I am doing a simple round of patrols for this sector of the city,” he tells you and your eyes finally drift down to see the white sheath on his hip supported by the harness he wore on his chest and over his shoulders- the same items he had when you first saw him. Seeing them again made a lump form in your throat that you tried to choke down. You felt a bit stupid for the question because what else would he be doing out this late when you’ve seen first hand what could happen.
“Yeah, sorry,” you shake your head and scoff at yourself, “I could’ve guessed.”
“No need to apologize!” That didn’t exactly reassure you. Rengoku was good at reading people, he spent a lot of time doing so among his years, so your unsteady and somewhat jittery presence did not fly over his head. “Are you heading home?”
“Planning on it, yeah.”
“It’s much earlier than last time, that is good!”
“It was a slow night so we closed down earlier.”
“Would you like an escort home?”
“An escort?” Your words were short as you confirm what he’s just asked you. Part of you hates that he basically just told you that he can see your paranoia and anxiousness as clear as day. You glance away and gnaw at your lip, conflicted. You most certainly didn’t want to walk home alone, the nightmarish memories haunting you like a... well like a demon. But you also didn’t want to appear fragile because you couldn’t walk home like you had a thousand times before.
You take a deep, shaky breath as Rengoku steps closer to you, his hair lighting up further as he gets closer to the hanging lanterns behind you. The colors and shades nearing the light resembling a warm campfire to keep woodland terrors at bay. A safe beacon.
“It is not wrong to be afraid.”
“I'm not!” You instinctively argue back, but immediately bite your own tongue realizing that raising your voice at his kindness was most certainly rude. However, even a two year old could tell that your words were clearly a lie. You sigh again, apologizing for your outburst. “Yes, I am,” you admit more to yourself than to him.
Rengoku just smiles down at your averted eyes and moves to stand beside you before gently slipping your purse off your shoulder and slotting it up his arm to rest on his own. He outstretched his opposite arm as he caught your eyes again and gently signaled you to start moving at your own pace.
“Allow me to walk you home then.” With him already having taken your purse and gestured his intent to not be swayed on his decision, you smirk teasing up at him and chuckle.
“Arguing won’t get me anywhere, will it?”
Not that you really wanted it to.
“It will not!” Well, at least he was honest.
The walk back was relatively quiet, save for the nighttime crickets that chirped along with the toads hidden away in corners. The sounds of the cicadas had lessened from this afternoon to a dull buzz instead of mind-numbing shrills. You kept taking glances at Rengoku, your purse hanging off the shoulder closest to you as you hobbled along on your crutches. You could barely see the tip of his sword's hilt from around him without being too obvious you were even looking to begin with. He must’ve kept it as horizontal to his leg as possible to avoid catching whatever riff-raff attention could be mangling around.
“Does something interest you?” Apparently, you weren’t as sneaky as you thought. You shoot your gaze forwards, nearly stumbling on your set of extra rubber feet and clearing your throat, the summer air suddenly way too dry for the humid season.
“I just, well, I didn’t think you’d notice?” You tell him honestly. He chuckles at your words and you feel a little better since he doesn’t sound freaked out by your clearly awkward behavior. “I guess I was a little curious about your, what do you call it, second job? The whole,” you lift one of your crutches, stopping your movements momentarily as you whip it around and grunt (rather embarrassingly) before putting it back down, “sword job thing?”
He laughs before letting out a small “Ah!” in recognition of your curiosity. Maybe it was because of the early hours, but part of you feared an apartment window flicking on in response to his boisterous laughter. Still, you easily admitting to yourself that it was a lovely sound.
“Curiosity may not be the wisest decision when it is about what goes on after the sun sets. Sometimes, it’s best that people believe demon’s are nothing but fictional stories made up simply to spook children.”
“Oh,” you were a little disappointed. You had already been attacked and injured, it’s not like you’d call him a liar if he told you. “I see.” You still wanted to know more, even if it was terrifying. With your crestfallen expression and new goal to just get home without creating an uncomfortable atmosphere, you missed the small look the flame-haired man gave you.
“Regardless of my skills, being out so late at night can be dangerous for anyone,” he starts, eyes casting forwards once more as he continues to lead you home. “There are many kinds of demons under the moon, and some can be more ferocious than others. If one catches sight of myself or another of my…” he pauses to find a decent word. “... coworkers,” he decides on, “chances are split that they flee from us, or do the opposite and begin a confrontation if they’re feeling particularly omnipotent.”
That small piece of information made you feel a little better about his choice to stay quiet about it all, his choice to disclose that even he wasn’t always 100% safe was bone chilling. Still, it did not soothe your curiousity completely. You decided to shake it off, you were acting like a child- it wasn’t your business and this man was nothing more than a stranger you’ve run into a couple times. The fact he literally saved your life had nothing to do with it- you had to let it go.
It was rude to pry.
“Perhaps when we get to your home I can answer your questions there.” You stop in your limping steps as you look at him. He was smiling at you, something warm and comforting and you seemed to light up. “That is if I would be allowed inside a young woman’s house at this hour.”
“Of course!” Perhaps you were too loud because you immediately covered your mouth with one hand, nearly dropping one of your crutches. You look around, seeing no light flick on and no windows opening to yell for you to keep it down. You lower your hand, a small smile on your face as you clear your throat. “Of course,” you repeat, much more quietly this time. “As long as you don’t mind a temporarily handicapped host and one obnxiously sassy cat.”
He laughs loudly again. “I happen to be fond of cats and your company as well!”
“We’ve met twice, and one of those times I was covered in grass stains, dirt, and sweat.”
“I am a very good judge of character!” You roll your eyes, but somehow, you believe him.
-x-x-x-
“Um, just take your shoes off at the door please.” You tell Rengoku as you sit yourself on the small stool you’ve set up by the front door so you can take your shoes off without much fuss. He easily complies, as he steps into your house only to turn and patiently wait for you to finish up. As you drop your shoes, he offers his arm as you gratefully take it and hoist yourself up with the use of the cane you keep at your door in exchange for your crutches.
In the comfort of your own home that you could maneuver through blindfolded, you greatly preferred the short, ease of use of a cane. You kept it a secret from Kocho though, who knows if she’d scold you for the unprompted buy since she was probably the most professional and strict doctor you’ve been the patient of.
Luckily, since Rengoku had been in your home this much before, he let you use his arm with your free hand all the way until you got into the living room. Much like how he carried you in before. You slip your palm off his forearm and step around him, much less clunky without your crutches.
“Have a seat. I don’t have much to offer, but I do have cold bottled water I can promise hasn't been opened,” you joke as he laughs.
“I appreciate the hospitality, however you do not need to-”
“Ah-tata,” you cut him off, “just because my foot isn’t at peak recovery doesn’t mean I can’t get you a small bottle of water. The kitchen isn’t far anyways.” Rengoku relented. Just as it was impossible to argue with him, it seemed to go both ways. He smiled.
He liked that.
As you disappeared into the kitchen, a small meow and curious tap against his shin caught his attention as he stood by the couch. He smiled down at the black cat as he slid his sword out of the harness he wore and set it gently against the couch so as to not startle your pet. He knelt, offering his hand out as Taco’s little nose bumped against it, sniffing before rubbing his head against the warm knuckles of Rengoku.
“Aren’t you cute,” he mumbles to himself.
“Only around guests,” you add, coming back into the living room to see Rengoku loving on your cat. “He’s cute now, but he’s a big pain in my butt when he wants to be.” You offer him a cold bottle of some random brand of water you bought on sale.
“Aren’t many animals that way?” He graciously takes the plastic bottle from you, the chill of it is a welcome change in his warm palm.
“I think it’s because I spoil him too much. He was a very unprompted rescue, so I went a little overboard raising him.”
“There is nothing wrong with raising an animal with so much care! He seems very happy!”
You plop yourself on the couch and Taco was quick to abandon Rengoku’s side in favor of yourself as he jumped on the cushions and stepped onto your lap where he folded his legs and lay himself down. You scratch at his back, making him stretch and roll before he’s trying to play and swipe at your hand and fingers.
The small little tag that read ‘TACO’ in engraved letters caught Rengoku’s eye and he chuckled at the name. Indeed, that was a very happy and loved cat, he had no doubt.
“You’re welcome to sit on the couch,” you lightly joke at his still kneeling form on your livingroom floor. He does as you suggest, thanking you before sitting a cushion away from you as to not push personal boundaries or opposingly seem too standoff-ish. It was quiet for a bit as you fiddle with your own waterbottle in your hand. “I hope I’m not causing any trouble,” you announce bashfully.
“Pardon?”
“Well,” you breathe, untwisting, then retwisting, just to untwist your bottle cap again to try and focus on something other than your sudden anxiety. “I just sort of dragged you here. I dunno, I feel like I’m pulling you away from your job? I know how important it is.”
“Worry not,” he quells. “There are many others like myself who also patrol the streets when the sun sets! I am not the only one, so my company here is no trouble at all!”
“Oh, right, you mentioned other coworkers. Are there a lot of you?”
“There is! We’re an organization of many people, but since we’re unrecognized by the government and since people do not believe in demon’s unless they survive an encounter with one, we are very scarcely known.” You nod at him. You feel a little sad at the fact he, and others like him, were risking their safety and no one even knew. “In fact, there are even a few of my students who work along side me as well!”
“Students?” You whip your full attention to him at mention of children. “You’re a teacher?”
“I am!”
“And you all just, what? Let children into your little demon-slaying job?”
“Well, not exactly, no.” Rengoku worried he wold break into a sweat at your accusatory tone of getting children involved in clearly dangerous work. “Although it is dangerous, younger slayers are put through rigirous training and must past a very specific qualification test before they can even take to the field like I do. We of higher ranking always make sure to watch out for our young underlings. They are our future after all!”
The idea of kids fighting those… things still didn’t sit quite right with you, but it wasn’t like you could do anything about it. And if Rengoku says that they’re well taken care of, and skillful above that, then surely they weren’t in too much danger. You wanted to trust his words so you shut your eyes and willed yourself to do so.
“Plus, we are not so reckless as to just assign anything to anyone. No demon is slain by a slayer who is weaker than the task at hand. We’re very meticulous about such things.”
“I understand.” You open your eyes and glance over at your cane for a moment then speak up again. “So, what are demons exactly?”
“Demons are former humans who have either been killed and revived by demon blood, or made a deal with another demon for power.”
“Former humans?” Your mind flashed back to the spindly, disfigured, skeletal demon that attacked you. “So, that thing that attacked me? That was once a person?” Rengoku nodded and a chill ran violently down your spine.
“At some point, yes it was. However, based on its appearance, it must’ve been a demon for a very long time to change that much.” That didn’t exactly make you feel better about it. “You must understand that demons are dangerous creatures regardless of what they used to be. They will not hesitate to attack and slaughter humans. We do not kill demons for sport, it is necessary to protect future victims.”
“I believe you and I understand- I do, it’s just… a lot to process, I guess?” You blow a harsh breath out of your lips. “So, how do you kill them? I mean with your sword I guess, but is there any other way?”
Rengoku nodded, grabbing his sword’s scabbard and hilt before drawing it. The red blade you had gotten a glimpse of the night of the attack shone brilliantly in your well-lit living room. It was truly a beautiful blade to look at and the sword guard in the shape of flames was very fitting to its wielder.
“To kill a demon it must be done with a very specific sword with a blade made out of a specific mineral that’s been bathed in sunlight for many years. This is a nichirin sword, a sword that has a color changing blade.”
“So, a regular sword wouldn’t work?”
“Correct!” He offers his sword over for you to hold and inspect it. You gently take it from him after you move Taco out of the way so that he wouldn’t start playing with it like it was a toy. “You can hack a demon into pieces with a regular blade, but it will always regenerate. A demon must be decapitated with a nichirin sword or it will continue to wreck havoc.” You hand the sword back to him and he easily sheaths it with practiced ease. “However, there are ways to defend yourself from demons, if you’d like to hear?”
You nod, intrigued by the entirely new concept of the world you had been so oblivious to for so many years of your life. You wanted to know more, to understand more. It was captivating and if he was willing to tell, you were willing to listen.
“There are special guns forged in our line of work that have crafted bullets that cause great harm to demons! Among other ways to deter them, demons are unable to stand wisteria.”
“Wistera? Like the flower?”
“Yes! Clusters of Wisteria trees are always a safe place to run to in the event one is close by. Even wisteria-scented charms and poisons are toxic and painful to their kind, they actively avoid anything to do with it. In fact, Kocho is a demon slayer, the same as I!”
“Really?!” Rengoku laughs loudly at your shock, but after a moment it did make sense. She was specifically referred by him and knew everything about what you experienced and believed it easily. If you had stopped to think about it, it was pretty easy to assume she was involved somehow, but a fighter? That was a bit of a shock considering her stature.
“Though she does not have the strength to cut a demon’s head off its shoulders, she’s developed a technique that incorporates poisons in her duty that are lethal upon injection.”
“Wow,” you awe. She was more impressive by the day.
“Of course, it helps that she’s also a very skilled doctor!”
“That’s true,” you lightly giggle. There’s silence in your living room once more as you glance over at the blond haired man. “So,” you start and gain his attention, “you’re a teacher?” You already knew the answer, he answered you earlier but it was the best ice breaker you could think of.
“That is correct.”
“I feel like I could’ve guessed if you didn’t already tell me. You explain things well. Your students must like you.”
“I cannot say how well I am at teaching in particular, but my student’s grades never drop to failing marks! You must keep the children interested in the lesson if you wish for them to grow. I do my best to achieve nothing less!”
“What do you teach?”
“History! I find it very fascinating- the past that is.” You nod. “Not to mention, I have been teaching my younger brother many things since we were young and I always enjoyed doing so. So, the profession grew on me. I very quickly knew what I wanted to do with my life during the time the sun is in the sky.”
“A younger brother? How old is he?”
“He’s currently in high school. Despite our age gap, we get along very well!”
“That’s great that you both get along. I’m an only child myself, but I do have a younger cousin. He feels more like a kid brother though, so I can sort of understand. The school’s he’s attending right now has dorm buildings for it’s students, so we don’t visit much,” you reminisce as you comfortably cross your arms.
“I’m sure you miss him.”
“Sometimes,” you chuckle. “Then there are times I’m glad he’s not actually my brother, as horrible as that sounds.”
“Regardless, I’m sure he feels the same!”
Thankfully, before the conversation took a turn for the mushy, Taco started to meow at you. He had jumped onto the floor earlier after being taken off your lap and roamed before coming back to paw at your leg. You leaned down and scratched under his chin as you felt him purr.
“I know, you need to be fed,” you tell him as you start coddling him. You excuse yourself as Rengoku got off the couch to help you to your feet before you were off to the kitchen again, Taco trotting eagerly behind you.
In the silence of your living room alone again, Kyojuro Rengoku looked around the room at all the decorations. Some frames on the wall here, some dry plants there, a couple cat toys scattered around the floor that was no doubt Taco’s doing, and a grey cat tower was close to the main window in the room where the dark curtains were drawn for the night. Despite all that he was visually taking in, he was stuck in his thoughts.
Kyojuro was always a people person, he enjoyed chatting and making connections, it was another reason he loved teaching so much.  Something about tonight felt different to him though. Like this one experience with this one person- you- was something out of the ordinary. LIke it was something special.
When you came back from feeding Taco, you carried random conversation topics before an ill-timed alarm went off on his phone that had been stuffed in his pocket this whole time. The sudden sound startled you and Rengoku was quick to apologize before realizing how late it was. If he didn’t get home and get at least some sleep, tomorrow’s lesson would surely be a lackadaisical one.
You saw him out, despite how much he insisted you not be on your feet, and before you knew it he was outside your door and then gone.
“He’s fast,” you muttered to the air he used to occupy before shutting your door and double-checking to make sure you did in fact lock it. You looked at both sides of your front door devoid of any decorations. “Maybe I should get some tables or something to put some flowers on so the front entrance isn’t so boring.”
With that last thought, you called for Taco because you needed to get to bed yourself. Sleep found you easily as opposed to the last few nights, and with it brought nothing but calm darkness. You were grateful for a night of sleep without nightmares.
-x-x-x-
Another week had passed and a small part of you was disappointed that you hadn’t heard or seen heads or tails of Rengoku again. He hadn’t been by the izakaya with his friend or anyone else for that matter, and you haven’t had the pleasure of running into him in the streets. Of course, the moment the feeling of disappointment nagged at you, you immediately tried to squash it down.
Despite the fact that he was A) someone who saved your life and B) a man you allowed into your home a grand total of two times didn’t erase the fact that he was still practically a stranger. A stranger who spilled his guts about his profession and gave a brief history lesson about demons in your living room, but a stranger nonetheless.
Your foot had improved drastically since a week ago and you could now walk without dragging a crutch or cane around with you. The pain would still sometimes ebb at the joint, but you’d always try and find a place for a pitstop to rest and take any on-hand pain medication before it got too bad.
Your current pitstop? Your local library.
You didn’t really have any explanation why you decided to come here on your spare time, furthermore why you were nosing around in the historical section. Granted, the books you picked up weren’t full of information you didn’t already know- but you still flipped through the pages standing in the empty isle regardless completely engrossed in the material.
After your skip around history, you made sure to replace all the books from where you got them (or the best you could remember) and moved to make your way out into the open space between sections. The library attendant's desk with a single employee sitting behind it with their nose in a book to pass by the shift was within sight of the wide open space.
The day was slowly starting to wane and you sat yourself at an unoccupied table close to a window that showed the streets that were starting the transformation of throngs of people to freckles of bodies. You push your chin into your palm as you watch out the window mindlessly. You didn’t have a shift tonight that demanded your attendance and you felt restless. It was strange, normally you’d have no issues just spending a lazy day inside on the time you didn’t have plans or work.
Now? Now you felt like any free moment you spent inside was wasted. You felt bad about it since you were leaving Taco alone, but you promised that you’d take your beloved cat out on more walks if this new behavior keeps up. It wasn’t like he didn’t have a harness and leash for walking, it was purely because finding the right time to take him out never worked in your favor.
You blew air out your lips as you lay your head down on the table. Maybe it was the fact that you experienced a near-death experience and were recovering from it that made you not want to take time for granted. You cringed at your cliche thinking.
You didn’t sit at the table long, grabbing your purse and making sure you didn’t leave anything behind before you left the library entirely- it was getting close to closing hours anyways. The last thing you needed was a staff member chasing you out.
The sky bathed the concrete jungle that was the thinning streets a warm orange as you felt the simmering of heat stick uncomfortably to your skin and under yout clothes. The walk back home felt shorter than it was and when Taco didn’t come running to the sound of the opening and closing door, you felt confusion morph your face. Was he sleeping? Normally, he would be rushing to the door before you managed to slam it shut and lock it while he cried at his once again failure to bolt out the door.
His escape artistry isn’t as honed as other alley cats and he had a hard time accepting that if it wasn’t obvious by the fits he throws.
Toeing your shoes off, you stepped inside and as you got closer to your living room you could hear rattling. Rattling? You speed up your steps thinking your nosey cat had gotten into or broken something and was foolishly playing with the pieces, but when you come into the living room with the waning sunlight forcing your to turn on the house lights, you gasp at what you see.
It was Taco, your beloved cat, yes, but he hadn’t knocked anything down or broken anything that your eye could see. Instead, he was sitting on his cat tower that sat by the large window of your living room you would normally decorate for holidays pawing at the glass as a large black bird sat opposite of him behind the pane.
The bird, you couldn’t tell what kind from your shock and slight panic-blinded eyes, was sat perfectly still on the outside of the window, knocking its beak lightly against the glass every time Taco mewled or pawed. Its head turned and cocked when it noticed the light flick on and you swore you saw its dark eyes zero in on you before its wings spread out wide spooking Taco off of his tower and onto the floor where he made a less than gracious landing.
Its wings flapped and then folded back in before tapping two more times on the window. You swallowed the lump in your throat before you slowly treaded up to the window. The bird's beak and eyes followed you, lifting higher to keep its sight on your face the closer you got before you were standing next to Taco’s tower. The black cat himself had seemingly forgotten about the mysterious bird and instead took purchase weaving between your ankles and rubbing his fur over you, soaking in your scent of outside.
“Are you stuck,” you lightly ask the bird as if he could answer you. Maybe he had flown into your window by mistake- that happens sometimes in tall buildings right? Birds not telling the difference between open space and glass? But, when you looked at his taloned feet there was nothing constriction him and his body was free of anything binding him too, the evidence was in the way his wings would still occasional expand then fold again. It was like he was inviting you to do something.
Unfortunately for you, you didn’t speak bird.
You jumped when its beak opened and a sharp, quick nose came out. A muffled caw! catching you by surprise as you nearly tripped over Taco’s still-weaving body. Then, the bird’s beak came to tap at the metal frame where the lock was.
Did it want inside? Could you really do that? Let some random bird inside your house after it’s been sitting outside your livingroom window for god knows how long just entertaining your cat while you were gone?
All probability flew out the proverbial window when you, without thinking, unlatched the window and slid it open allowing the big blackbird to fly right in. You screamed, not in terror, but in more shock as it flew inside and the flap of its wings was louder than you were expecting.
The bird flew a lap around your living room before coming around to you and landing on Taco’s tower beside your shoulder. It was staring at you at eye level now and you could finally identify the bird as a crow. You knew that crows were intelligent birds, but this was clearly a trained bird, not just some random bird who decided to make a nest in your home for no good reason.
You flinched for the umptheeth time when the crow’s left wing expanded and exposed half of it’s body. You were fully expecting it to folded up again, but it didn’t. Then you noticed it, a small crimson thread tied around it’s leg with a small dark capsule attached to it.
You relaxed your shoulders and chuckled.
“What are you, a messenger pigeon?” You wondered if crows could get offended by the way they can remember faces and whatnot. “That was a joke,” you followed yourself just in case. “Is that for me?” You ask hesitantly and when the crow did not move or make any indication of disagreement, you slowly and as carefully as possible unscrewed the bottom of the capsule and a small rolled-up piece of paper slid out of it. The crow softly folded its wing back up once you screwed the bottom piece back on.
The paper was thin and rolled expertly like a scroll. You walked over to the coffee table and knelt to unfold it to read.
My apologies for sending word to you this way! It must have been quite the shock to find a crow hanging around your home, however, I have neglected to ask of any other means of connection to you in our few encounters! If appropriate, how many I contact you from here on out? -K.Rengoku
You re-read the well-written note- scroll? -about three times before you broke down into a fit of laughter, kicking your still-healing foot into the table leg and wincing as the dull throb brought you back to your mind.
You looked over your shoulder at the crow still perched on the tower and used your hand to pat an empty space on your table.
“Come down here,” you invite and the crow listened well. Fluttering down easily and its talons clacking satisfyingly on your wooden table. You curled your finger, letting the back of your knuckles run over the bird's feathers careful not to accidentally pluck one. “So, you’re Rengoku’s bir-er-crow?” You corrected yourself midword thinking that just calling the crow ‘bird’ would be a bit demeaning. A soft caw was your answer.
You looked around your coffee table but found nothing close enough to resemble a piece of paper small enough like his to send on the crows return back. Flipping the tiny-scroll over you decided to just use the back side and the nearest pen you had laying around.
I knew you were into history, but a messenger crow? Now that’s old school. Does he have a name?
Beside your short messaged reply, you scribbled your number down in the best handwriting you could muster so there was no way the numbers could be confused with another number. You then tried rolling it back up as expecrtly as it was put in- and failed- before you ended up folding the paper into small enough rectangles it fit inside the capsule just as well as when it was rolled up. You then pet the crow one more time before you walked back toyour window and called for it to sit on the sill.
“You fly back home safely, okay?” The sun had declared the last lights of dusk before the sky covered your section of the world in a dark blanket and the crow’s dark eyes shimmered in earnest before it cawed once more and took off like a friendly goodbye! to its newfound friend.
You were practically giddy the rest of the night, skipping around and giving Taco an extra treat or two in your good mood. You couldn’t remember the last time you had this feeling in your stomach, butterflies. As you lay in bed you wonder why it was you were feeling those butterflies that took you back to your high school days with flings and crushes and unrealistic romantic daydreams that would make even the most Christmas-y Hallmark movie plot to shame.
Followed by the intriguing thought of it was all because of the still semi-stranger man named Rengoku who taught history and also happened to kill demons, the feeling of being on some pranked tv show with hidden cameras felt less and less likely the more time passed. But still- it all sounded so unreal when you thought about it all.
The next morning, after not remembering when you even fell asleep, you checked your phone to see you had an unread text from an unknown number. You smiled at it, not even bothering to shut off the alarm clock that had woken you up as you quickly saved the number into your contacts.
(Rengoku) His name is Kaname!

Hello! I would like to make a request please
Zenitsu, Shinobu, and Kyojuro (all platonic) x transmasc reader - who is a strong, fearless, fearsome, feral slayer (think Inosuke but on steroids and a bit more civilized/calm)
“Sure anon! I really like this idea actually (and will put my full effort into this because of how much I like it)!
Genre: Fluff/Platonic (x transmac reader)
Summary: How they first reacted to first seeing you, what they thought of you when they first saw your fighting capabilities, and how they are with you casually
Note: He (the reader) wield two katanas and a claymore on their back (with a sheath ofc)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- You both first met when you were assigned to the same mission. Will give the same treatment with everybody else (with respect and kindness unless you don’t do the same). Otherwise he does his best to get on your good side because he surely finds you interesting and someone strong in disguise! -  He usually will most definitely prioritize your safety over his if he does see you struggle in fighting; or at least that’s what he first thought!
“Damn it where are these demons already?! LET ME FIGHT YOU!” You roared and speed through the forest, chopping down large trees, trying to find them. As Kyojuro calmly yet attentively walks towards you he laughs. “Hahahaha! You’re quite the interesting one! I doubt they’d try to come near us if they knew we were here though-” A sharp gust of wind hits, making both of you facing eachother’s back; having him to slowly withdraw his sword. As the breeze kicks up from around you and Kyojuro, it suddenly stops. You both stand in silence for a moment. “OH COME ON!!! AND I THOUGHT I WAS FINALLY GOING TO FIGHT SOMETHING!” You kick a nearby tree, leaving a large dent on it. “Was that really nothing?” Kyojuro thought to himself. As he was about to relax a bit a large preying mantis-like demon swoops downs to attack him. A large cloud of dust overwhelms his eyes for a moment with his ears hear the sound of hissing; then seeing that you blocked the attack with your katanas. “FINALLY SOMETHING TO KILL!” Chuckling in excitement you forcibly push the demon away using the same katanas to block it, hitting it towards a tree. “GO TO HELL!” You quickly unsheath your claymore and throw it to the demon, causing it to screech in pain, being stuck on the tree for a moment before cutting its head off. More demons rapidly start popping out, tailing you however being slain by Kyojuro. “I’ve got your back Y/N!” As the demons multiply you yell at him in rage. “I DON’T NEED IT ASSHOLE!” Causing you slash and make a number of demons die from throwing your claymore again and slashing the ones you didn’t get with your katanas.
- Consider you getting Kyojuro’s respect CLAIMED after that mission (and not like you never had his respect, you just gained more from him)! - Will check on you any time both of your are not on a mission and not busy. If you like food he will definitely feed you well (either from street food or his cooking)! Anything you like you definitely will be given from him some point in your life! >:) - He will definitely annoy you when you’re doing something dangerous or risky socially or in public.
“Are you and Kyojuro dating?”  A demonslayer asks you, causing you to be pissed off, yet trying to keep your composure. “No??? What makes you think that?” “Well you guys spend way too much time together in public. Do you like him?” That immediately causes you to snap, cornering them and punching the wall; making a large hole in it. “NO WAY IN HELL!!!” The demon slayer shivers in fear making them slightly sweat but they whisper, “Yeah no wonder...nobody would like a loud woman like you...” That demonslayer was going to die today. “Loud...WOMAN?!?!” As you were about to choke that guy out Kyojuro was luckily there on time to barely pull you away and save them. “I HOPE YOU DIE YOU MOTHERF*CKER!!” You shout to them, pulling up the middle finger.
- Kyojuro definitely took you to management anger classes after that (and kept trying to make you feel more like a man after that incident).
Tumblr media
- Honestly thought of you being a guy with brawns and no brains (and she’s prob right).  -You both met from being demonslayer patrollers for the city to be safe (though to be honest she should be protecting the city from you). Often times you accidentally wreck street vendors carts from you tripping and trying to hold onto something (which was that) or running into someone and they get knocked out (which victims claim its like being hit by a bull). - Will definitely try to see how resistant you are to poison if you piss her off or cause too much trouble for her (through feeding you it or ‘sparing’ with you). She wishes to just choke you out at times but obviously cant because you’re too strong for her to die by her hands. - Usually she doesn’t get picked on by weird dudes (due to her obviously wielding a katana) but there are definitely times where it’s drunk guys.
As you yawn and stretch walking in the city at night with Shinobu, you ask her, “What are we doing here again?” You sigh, being slightly tired and bored. “They’ll always be demons that pretend to be human in disguise, thus it’s natural that demonslayers need to patrol in big cities like these.” She walks with her hands behind her back. “Ahh...But don’t you think it’s way to crowded to do that- though...?” You turn to her yet don’t see her trying your best not to make the crowd worried that you’re frantically trying to search for Shinobu. As an old  drunk man yanks her into an alleyway; he excitedly smells her before she can push him off, causing him to lose balance and slump to the floor. “You smell so, so, so nice, little lady.” He slowly gets up, slowly approaching her again as he drools. Shinobu does the opposite of what he does and backs away, observing him and noticing he has a nasty blob growing and pulsing in a bright red color in the side of his head; finally reaching the end of wall he tries to lure her back to his touch. “Can you take me home...? I’m a bit drunk so I need help-” “DAMN...PERVERT!” You run towards him and punch him a bit too hard, almost entirely wrecking the wall he was hit upon. Shinobu sweats a bit in worry for the man, thinking he was human before he melts into a sludge as if it was a clone with the blob on his head exploding, melting the ground and radiating the same red color from the head he had.  “Eww... that totally will be engraved in my brain for a good while...” You look in disgust before seeing a demon that has half of his face being handsome while the other side is sloppy and pulled down from the same blob but on his sagging cheek, wearing what seems to be an expensive suit frowning at you both.  “Another ugly ass b*tch ready to get their ass whooped again?” You chuckle at the demon but once you blink Shinobu had poisoned the demon, succumbing to it. “Already??? BUT I WANTED TO FIGHT MOREE!” You groan and sulk in disappointment as Shinobu slightly laughs to your whining.
-Will definitely point out tips to help your skills to get better and if you want her to train you she will! - She will train you by doing surprise attacks where she just run towards or sneak attacks you (but only with her katana, she only uses poison on special occasions :)
“Happy birthday Y/N!” Your friends from the demon corp. surprise you with your favorite flavored cake. “Aww thank you guys! I’m so happy you did this for me!” Chopping up a large piece of cake onto your plate, you use your fork to pick it up and shove the entire piece into your mouth. “Now that I think of a surprise party...” You think to yourself, “Doesn’t someone else do something like that...?” You slowly chew the cake before being reminded of who. You then accidentally swallow your cake from the realization, triggering you to choke on it while frantically searching around for Shinobu; but before you could even look behind you, she cuts a part of your neck (where its not fatal ofc) with her poison on the sword. “DAMN IT!!! WHY’D IT HAVE TO BE THE SAME SPOT IM CHOKING OHn- cOuUGH- CoOugH- ” You cough on the ground in pain and agony of the poison and cake being lumped together in your throat as Shinobu smiles. (Surprisingly you don’t die and cough out the cake but pissed it was wasted)
-Other than the near to death experiences she puts you in, she vouches for you alot if you cause problems!  -Will give you rewards if you dodge or block her surprise attacks (and you’re usually rewarded handsomely) Wanted that box of instant ramen from the store? She’ll buy a years worth of it. Someone doesn’t treat you well? Expect them to be apologizing the next day! -She may be an extra tough and killer mom on you but believe me when you’re important to her!
Tumblr media
-Definitely thinks of you of as a muscle head from the amount of strength you have (and that you’re sent to kill him with your strength too). -Bro cannot keep eye contact with you and will constantly look away and towards you when doing so because he’s that terrified. -You both first met when he was on a mission by himself and was scared shitless when you suddenly appeared (would surely piss himself too if you didn’t calm him down and say you were a part of the demon corp.) - Zenitsu is quite literally picked on by everyone so once you vouched and protected him he will use and depend on you like you’re his only weapon.  “Do we seriously have to be with this scaredy cat?” The demonslayer laughs and pushes Zenitsu with his shoulder as they walk. “Stop that...” He complains as he rubs that same shoulder he was nudged with. “Then stop acting like a baby! The entire time getting here you kept complaining and whining! Maybe you should let the adults do this. Right Y/-” As you hit a tree nearby, you cause an apple to fall and hit the demonslayers head. “Quiet already. If anything you keep babbling. Damn loser.” “Haha right...sorry-” As Zenitsu notices your act for him as he stares at you with thankful eyes before seeing the same demon slayer being thrown into a tree branch and you blocking it’s attack. “GET OUT OF THE WAY, DUMBASS!” You hollar at him before glancing behind you and seeing he fainted on a tree. In attempt you tried  to push back the bear-like demon with your swords but as you were busy looking back, causing your katanas were thrown back. “DAMN IT! DAMN YOU FOR MAKING THINGS HARDER FOR ME!!” You screamed at him while dodging its attacks before deciding to punch the demon, moving back a bit farther from where Zenitsu was, now able for you to use your claymore. “DIE!!!” You exclaimed as you cut off its head with the claymore. As you sweat from the slightly extra effort you had to put you notice the same demonslayer shriek, being wrapped up in a cocoon from a group of demons. “COME ON!” Screaming in annoyance and bait, you jumped on the tree right earlier that Zenitsu slain them in surprising speed. “And I thought I was gonna kill more demons... ughhhh...” You sigh and slouch in disappointment.
- Despite you yelling almost all the time you’ve spent with him, he’s used to it now at this point (and is now annoyed and deaf from it) though there’s a few times he does get scares but just exaggerates it purposely to make you feel SLIGHTY bad. - WILL SERIOUSLY TRY TO BRING YOU TO EVERY MISSION HE HAS (He tries to bargain and make deals with you so he won’t need to do anything and spend time with Nezuko) saying its for a ‘good cause’.  - Says he’ll invite you to his future wedding and make you his wingman (he’s half assing that promise to you definitely)
“PLEASEEE COME WITH ME TO MY NEXT MISSION Y/NNN!!” Zenistu tries and whines to convince you as he’s sitting on one of your legs with your attempt to shake him off. “GET OFF ME YOU DAMN PEST! AND I THOUGHT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE ANNOYING THAN A ROACH!” Finally free’ing yourself from his grip he hits the wall, knocking him out cold (with a bit of blood on the wall) for a couple minutes before attempting to spar with you asleep to convince you. “I SHOULD’VE NEVER SAVED YOUR ASS FROM THAT FORESTT!!!” You complain as you keep blocking him from his speedy attacks.
-Other than his annoying sessions of him begging and whining over his requests being listened on deaf ears, you both usually get along surprisingly. -He knows what pisses you off so he knows what to try and avoid most of the time. -You usually either piggyback him when both of you feel like it and by the shoulder if he’s in serious trouble and needs to get away using you as his uber.

“My name is Kazi Okami… You have taken my Father’s eye from him…. PREPARE TO DIE!”
Kazi wolfs out as she says that last bit, sword in mouth and a Demonslayer Harness on the Wolf’s body. She is NOT messing around. There’s nothing but rage and hatred in the girl’s eyes.
"Heh. Cute. But I don't care about that. Kyojuro had such a great fighting spirit! A shame he didn't want to become a demon and continue to train. So, little wolf, let's fight!" "Blood Demon Art: Compas Needle!"

Mysteries of Thorn Manor - Margaret Rogerson
Tumblr media
Read: 07/01/2023 - 12/01/2023
Rating: 5/5
Rep: disabled bisexual love interest who walks with a cane, aroace side character
CW: death of family members (in backstory), grief
This review will contain light spoilers for Sorcery of Thorns
I was super excited to see the Sorcery of Thorns trio again, and this novella didn’t disappoint in the slightest! These are some of my favourite characters (from one of my favourite books) and by the end of Sorcery it was incredibly clear that, regardless of romance, this is a trio and they all love each other deeply. This is carried over into this novella in the best possible way. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas are all given opportunities to shine and all of their relationships with each other are given their time in the spotlight. Rogerson incorporates all this through a relatively lighthearted plot masterfully, and despite the novella’s short length nothing ever felt rushed.
The new addition to the Thorn household, Mercy, didn’t feel like she was intruding at all. She’s not as close to any of them as they are with each other, but Elisabeth is firmly happy to have her around and she fits into the group seamlessly. Silas’ interactions with or about her were also highly entertaining. He makes no secret of how he’d prefer to work alone, but he simply has no say in the matter.
The main plot of this novella is the manor effectively coming to life and trapping the four occupants inside until they can figure out how to make the manor calm down. This led to many humourous moments, some action, and some exploration into the history of both the Thorn family and the manor itself. I really enjoyed learning more about the magic and history of magic in this world! There’s also plenty of romantic moments, which may or may not have a connection to the magic keeping them trapped.
We also learn a bit more about Nathaniel’s immediate family in this book. In Sorcery we learned that his mother and brother had died, and his father had been killed by Silas at some point after this while Nathaniel was still a child. In this novella we learn more about what exactly happened and also what Nathaniel’s family was like before everything went wrong. This is, ultimately, a lighthearted novella, but Rogerson also found room within it to deal with this heavy topic in a way that didn’t feel unnatural or shoehorned in and that didn’t subtract from the overall story.
In what is surely a very popular opinion, Silas is my favourite character in this book/series, and this novella provides extra insight into him as a character which is nothing short of a delight to me! Something in particular that this novella addresses about Silas is how long lived he is. He’s served and made deals with members of the Thorn family for countless generations and there’s no way that Nathaniel and Elisabeth are the first people he’s truly loved. He’s lost a lot of people, and one day he’ll lose Nathaniel and Elisabeth as well. His grief for those he’s lost, and his sort of anticipatory grief for the people he’s yet to lose, is probably more present than he’d like to let on, but he doesn’t let this cast a shadow on the life he and people he loves are leading right now. He’s the source of many moments that had me smiling and even laughing, and my love for him has only grown through reading this.
Also Elisabeth seems to carry Demonslayer around with her almost everywhere she goes, and I simply think that more characters should have emotional support swords like she does. Truly iconic of her.
If you enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns, you don’t want to miss this sweet and thoughtful follow up!
Thank you to NetGalley, Margaret K. McElderry Books, and Turn the Page Tours for providing me with an e-arc in return for an honest review. Thank you for having me on this tour!

Call Me Alpha- part 6
Tumblr media
synopsis: Your world is filled with sparkles and the smell of your alpha. Bakugous is filled with pain. And now you two have to work together. How fitting
Pairings: Mei Hatsume x reader, Bakugou Katsuki x reader
Warnings: descriptions of hospitals(again), Mei is horny on main.
Author Notes: I'm going to take an indefinite break on CMA, I've seemed to lost interest in it hopefully I will return to it at a later date. MY ASK BOX IS OPEN!! I WRITE (AND SOMETIMES DRAW) FOR BNHA, ONE PIECE AND DEMONSLAYER!!! COME SAY HI!!
Tumblr media
When a fated pair are united, all other possible potential mates are washed away. Bonding or even mating with others causes a great deal of discomfort and sometimes pain for either person.
Of course, only those who know of the fated bond feel this kind of pain. And of course, it is more intense than if both parties knew of the bond.
So at 10:53 pm. Katsuki Bakugou awoke to indescribable amount of pain. Chest felt empty, his heart like someone was squeezing it, try to shatter it. His world felt like it was turned on its head. He was rushed to the hospital, after screaming his lungs out and terrifying his parents.
A sense of dread filled him from the moment the pain subsided. The doctors concluded it was a rare case of a one sided fated bond. The other side had yet to realise what was happening, so he was going to suffer until it did.
His morning after the nights trip to the hospital, he was tired. Worn out looking and dreadfully pale. He felt nothing. Like his hopes and dreams, his ideals and morals, all of his everything was sucked out of him. He felt like glass. And it was reflected in his appearance.
The day that awaited him was a hopeful one though. Today the three hero classes were going to be assigned their support student from the support program. He knew you were in the program. He just hoped you were assigned to him.
For you though, the bliss you felt waking up beside Mei, your alpha as of last night, was one you were enamored with. She was covered with a large duvet, and noticeable lack of clothing present underneath. The mark on her neck was pink and swollen, fresh. It smelled like you, which was unfortunate. A simple few spritzs of your perfume and all would well.
You went to get up, but a warm hand on your upper arm pulled you into a warmer, blanket clad chest. "Don't go. Little omega, stay here, sleep." Mei's morni g voice did something to you, which she surely sensed, ss she snapped her golden eyes open and sat up on to sniff at you. Her pupils were blown open wide. She was clearly ready to go another round, not at all tired from the three last night.
"Mei, we need to get ready to go. Class starts in an hour and today we'll be assigned our hero trainees." Her growl reverberated through her body and into yours. Not happy that you were discussing other people while she was 'in the mood'.
"Don't care. 'Mega will stay here." An alpha headspace was one that was tried kt to get put of; lust, fear and aggression were all ways to put an alpha in the headspace, but trying to get one out was risky. It would be best to let it pass on its own instead of forcing it.
You made to get up again, this time Mei let you, bit only to ogle your bare body as you found out once you got up. A smack on your ass was the biggest indicator. You just continued to your shared bathroom.
A shower to try and wash off last night's events was in order, not that your alpha would be particularly kind or receptive to the idea. You soaked for far longer than you should have, and byvthe time quarter to 8 rolled around, you were scrambling to shuck on some clean pants and a shirt. With how much time you'd spent srucbing and dousing your body in scented soaps and perfume, your alphas scent was sure to have dissipated a little.
+×+×+×+×
You were downstairs in the common room 5 minutes later, smelling freshly cleaned and bonded. Mei was there too, the look of for having cleared up from her eyes. She handed you a piece of cinnamon sugar toast and thermos of iced coffee.
"Sorry about last night. And this morning. I may have gone a little overboard with the scenting and marking." She was sheepish, and a blush covered her face a neck ever so faintly.
"I'm fine with that. It's my scent on you I'm worried about. I brought down some of my perfume, take it and just douse yourself in it. If someone asks later, I scented your clothes and you before we left. They'll know we're bonded just be looking at us, so reeking like each other won't be an issue." You handed her a small vial a clear liquid. The contents smelled like manufactured rain and coffee, but it was better than your omegan scent in your eyes.
Looking around to see if anyone was going to be bothering either of you, you noted that the kitchen and common room were silent and empty. Everyone must have been in class already. Mei sprayed the perfume all over her, making especially sure to coat your bond mark in the scent.
Once thoroughly scented, the two of you took off to class. It had started 2 minutes ago by the time you made it. The door whisked open to reveal a very displeased homeroom teacher. Just as you were about to bow and explain yourself, your teacher interupted;
"Yeah yeah, I got the memo. You two decided a sunday night would be great for bonding. Next time you two decide to moan like cats in heat for hours on end, do it at a more sensible time? Now get I here and got to your seats." He turned to address the rest of class as the you and Mei made a beline to your seats.
"Now, today we will be meeting with the hero class 1A to decide and assign your hero trainees. You will be responsible for their gear and suits. Designing, testing and building all of it. You will be getting help from your upperclassmen every week in the allotted time slots you were given before. Do with that what you will. But they are not allowed to build or design and items, only assist and help test." With that he jestured to all of you;
"Please make your way in an orderly fashion to the hero trainee department. Make sure to pair off, like we discussed at the beginning of the year. Stay together and no tomfoolery!"
You and Mei paired off, intertwining hands as you went. Your originally platonic relationship took a sudden romantic turn last night, and while you weren't complaining, you had a nagging feeling that a certain alpha would if he found out.
+×+×+×+×
You made your way as a class to the hero department, coming to a stop when the homeroom teacher, Aizawa, as he introduced himself, stepped outside of the classroom.
He led you all down to the training area. He explained that you were to observe each of the students, and decide which personality and quirk you would best work with. A tentative scan of the students and you didn't see that hauntingly familiar head of blonde hair. Your sigh of relief was breathed to soon though.
The days events progressed, and you made your way around the training area, speaking to the students whose quirks intrigued you. It was a first come first served situation, and you indecisiveness played a factor in your lack of a hero partner.
Aizawa and your teacher pulled you aside, stating that there were two other students, currently absent due to a fight between them that put them out of commission for a solid half day. You and another student, Holly, you get to pick from them, seeing as you were the only ones who didn't have a partner.
Mei's partner was an alpha; Tenya Iida. He was the class president, although it seemed that no one respected him as such. His exasperation and manic slicing he did with his arm when he got riled up were amusing.
You were talking with another 1A student, Eijirou Kirishima, while you waited for the two students to return. His quirk was one you were contemplating working with before Nahako, your classes class president, swiped him away. Of course, this didn't mean that you could no longer talk with him.
While you were distracted, Holly was buying herself, talking with the two boys who'd appeared while you were conversing. She'd been slick, stealing away the green haired omega known as Izuku Midoriya. Which left you, with your self proclaimed arch nemesis, Katsuki Bakugou.
His heart almost lept out of his chest when he saw you. Talking with shitty hair, but still, you were there, within arms reach. Of course, before he could go over and make himself known, a snake of a beta started talking them up. His heart ached, suddenly capable of feeling other things than just rage.
His eyes only saw you, he listened haphazardly to the beta speaking to them, before pulling away Deku. He stalked over to where you stood, eagerly awaiting your sweet scent.
Only to be met with an overwhelming maple and rain. Beta and alpha, but not you. You turned to meet his eyes, eyebrows quirking up at what you saw.
"What the hell are you doing here?" The hostility on your tone was meeker than he expected.
"This is my class. What the hell are you doing here?" He was still full of shit and attitude, just like last time.
Before you could explain yourself, the 1A homeroom teacher appeared, covered head to toe in a yellow sleeping bag.
"Mm, Bakugou, this is L/N. You two will be partners for the rest of the school year. I expect on good behavior from you too." He turned to hop away at this, soon addressing the whole class;
"Alright, now that everyone has a support partner and/or hero partner, you will be expected to get along with each other. Do not make me regret doing this." He paused to eye up some of the more raucous students.
A sychronis and loud "Yes Sensei" was heard. Great. Now your stuck with personal enemy #1, what could go wrong?

So, one more thing that gets me (and possibly explains why I’ve latched so hard onto) about Bubble’s comics. I realised this is much longer than I intended it to be, but oh well, read under the cut if you’d like. These are just my thoughts, and of course, there are always exceptions, but here’s something I managed to gather from everything I’ve seen. Please ignore the fact that I constantly repeat myself, this was written more for me to express my feelings than to get a good grade in English.
So often, newly made media, be it books, movies, comics, etc. have this one trait and that is to introduce us to a (somewhat) broken world, great characters who are going to fix it, and then, when we start caring about them, kill them off. It has become so common to have an ending that tells you “You thought this was nice? Sike! This world sucks! Ha ha”.
I don’t want that kind of ending, not without a reason. Sometimes things do end that way, and happy isn’t always what’s needed. But, when every ending is like that it becomes predictable. Boring. Sad. If I wanted a world where everything sucks, I would just watch the news. I like having a will to live after I’m done with something. When I am trying to convince myself there is kindness, I need something to hold on to.
It became so popular to kill off everyone - one, or two, or more is fine but when it gets to half, morethan half or all characters, it gets too much, and it’s not that nice if you don’t plan something else with them in the Underworld. When so many well developed characters die, you just feel… empty. Maybe that’s just me, but I start to care about them (although many times when my favourite characters were killed, I made an AU where they lived and I was like “yeah, the book/movie/whatever had it wrong, they added that for popularity. Besides, [Character] had to fake their death to finally get some peace smh”). Some characters have to live.
Yes, in the real world, everyone dies, and many, many, too many times it’s people who did nothing to deserve it, but we know, in most cases, that the books and movies don’t describe the real world. We willingly read them, knowing that is not this world. I don’t know about other people, but I read to escape. To feel more… not necessarily better.
Tragedies, on the other hand, give us heartbreaking endings. They give us catharsis, and teach us that we should be humble. Anything can happen to anyone in the blink of an eye. And tragedies make you think, question yourself and your views. Just like poetry does, they break you. You’re broken into pieces and you feel it so strongly, all that pain, and loss. But what it leaves you feeling something. You are left knowing something broke inside you, something that needed to be broken, for you to feel whole. So many things nowadays kill off characters but it doesn’t make you feel the catharsis. It just makes you feel empty, full of nothing except for morbid greyness and less will to live. You should care about your characters, goddamit! It might just be me, but I am desperately in need of stores where characters make it in the end and everything plays out well, despite it not being like the “real world”.
And what Bubble did… They did kill off characters, they did push them through so much pain and suffering, but in the end, they cared for them. Nowadays, everyone is acting towards their characters like Victor Frankenstein towards the Creature - they created them, and no longer care or hold responsibility. And I think that’s one of the things which made them stand out because it seemed they couldn’t leave it at that. They didn’t go “Okay, all lovable characters are dead, now cope with it however you can!” They brought back Oleg. Sergey is now (relatively) fine. They’re healing (not that Bubble won’t break us in the end with something else). In the end of Demonslayer, Danila found another world, with another Yana, another Pasha, but he found them. In a way, they were saved.
In Danila’s “starting” world, everything was destroyed. He lost everything and everyone he cared about. And so many of the things I’ve seen and read would leave it at that. But it wasn’t the end. It wasn’t really what you could call happy (and it wrecked you anyway), but it gave you something else in its place. It gave you a sense that not all was lost. There was still something good, worth living for.
There isn’t always a need for a happy ending. Sometimes it should be sad, sometimes bittersweet, but in the end, what matters is that it’s hopeful.
(Bubble probably killed off some other loveable characters I don’t know about, but we’ll leave it at this for now xD)

Oh my god, I’ve watched “Major Grom: The Plague Doctor” and it’s absolutely great! Well, firstly, it was the first time going to the cinema since last New Year break (last, meaning 2019-2020). Secondly, I think of myself as a Bubble Comics fan (even though I’ve only read the first phase) and so I was waiting for this movie very much and I was super happy to see all the familiar characters on the big screen. I especially appreciated two things in the cinematography: the soundtrack – it included a lot of cool songs in Russian, two or three of which are like old classic rock and the others fit the scenes pretty well too and do not hurt the ears; the city views – they’ve shown Saint-Petersburg very-very beautifully and not only the city centre – the Palace Square, the Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and so on – but also the newer parts like the view from the Western High-Speed Diameter to the Lakhta centre and the Zenit Arena (it’s magnificent, especially with the right lights). The actors are all very nice and, what I personally, consider a plus, no one in the main cast is famous (for some it’s their first big role). I’d like to specifically point out the performer of Sergei Razumovsky - Sergei Goroshko (and no, not only because he’s handsome, even though he is, thank you for asking).
Okay, pretending to be an actual film reviewer aside: some scenes made me point at the screen and screech: “That’s just like in the comics!” (Spoilers!) When there were two Razumovskys on the screen – one Sergei and one The Plague Doctor, I almost died! It was so good and so canon! I also very much enjoyed the references – to The Red Fury (the weapon corporation mentioned) and the Demonslayer (“killer with a rat”) and to another original comic about Major Grom (“Va Banque” short story including a train). I also saw some pretty nice fanservice for Serovolk (not too much though and it was already popularly explained to me, there’s much more fanservice in the new “Plague Doctor” arc). The funny thing is that on every press conference and interview all the producers and screen-writers were saying that the Plague Doctor will be different from the comics strongly implying that it won’t be Razumovsky and at first, it kind of wasn’t, but then they’ve turned it all upside down and then shaken up again, just to be certain.
I should also say, that it’s not just my fanboying fogged mind that made me enjoy the movie that much. I was watching it with my father and he enjoyed it a lot, even though he had never read a single Bubble comic and knew almost nothing about the universe.
So, totally would recommend it to anyone who has an opportunity to go to the cinema and watch it – do so, please. The film is good and it needs your support so that the studio can make more stuff like this and start their own cinematic universe with good superhero action movies.
