I’m discovering an important part of aging. If I have a problem that I’ve never found help for, I have to manually ask myself, “How long has it been since you tried?”

If it’s been 3+ years, there’s sometimes new tools or strategies or knowledge, and it is crucial for me to periodically check for new help for old problems. Otherwise I will just suffer needlessly. Even 1 chronic thing is fucking exhausting and it’s so cool to finally finally finally get it fixed, even if there isn’t help for all of my Health Stuff.

#this is kinda about dentist work and GI issues #when I was 18 I asked for the dentist to fix something and she said no. lol. she said it would probably fix itself and that the surgery for #it was frustrating for the surgeon and the patient and it was painful and tricky.#but I have dental insurance now and apparently after 8 years they now use lasers and it takes like 30 minutes and isn’t that bad!#also for my GI issues??? I’ve always struggled with the ‘eat more fiber’ advice because it never helps and often makes it worse #but recently! a doctor explained various types of fiber! and recommended I increase one and decrease the other! and I’m so bad at changing m #my diet so it’s a slow process to test out the advice. but so far it seems to be helping! either that or the slight improvement is coinciden #either is possible. but still! new knowledge! new strategies! new understandings of old strategies!#it’s really cool #soren learning to survive capitalism

Maaan I feel like I'm gonna puke. I had a headache from crying at the doctors so when I woke up at 3am I took an aspirin with crackers, a brownie, and gatorade then when I woke up again at 8am I took my new "makes you not kill yourself" pills with a slice of bread and my mom coincidentally arrived at the same time with hashbrowns so now that I'm awake again I'm gonna explode and die 😭

#i got diagnosed with POTS (its fine) so i need more sodium so i stop almost passing out and shaking like a chihuahua all the time #so thats what the crackers and gatorade are for #also! i was not cleared for dental surgery cuz of the low blood pressure and now i need an ekg and blood tests!#which is all fine. but i still feel like im gonna puke and explode. stomach is not happy 🙃#personal

guess who got covid :( i was so proud of myself for avoiding it up until now as well :(

#also the absolute AUDACITY of my work. i messaged my manager and the like 2nd in command boss to inform them i had covid and wouldnt be comi #ng in until the tests come back negative #and the 2nd boss person was like: do you feel unwell? if you dont feel unwell you can still come in even if you have covid. I WORK IN A #DENTAL SURGERY. A MEDICAL FACILITY. TOUCH PEOPLES MOUTHS AND GET CLOSE TO THEIR FACES. AND HE WANTS ME TO COME IN WITH COVID?????#like i wouldnt go into ANY job with covid but youd think someone who runs a MEDICAL FACILTY would know better #(feel like that made it sound like im a dentist I AM NOT i have zero qualifications and was just on reception but theyre getting me to do #nursing as well)#anyway i am not going in and no wonder i fucking got covid if our boss is encouraging people to go in with CONFIRMED COVID #get me out of this shitshow job T_T pleaseeeee can one of the many other jobs I applied to respond to my applications T_T #now i am sick AND mad at the world <_<

toothpaste woes - daily notes, jan 13, 2024

Tonight's meaningless* panic is over the flavor of toothpaste. I've got a Rx fluoride one, and the first tube was fine - tasted better than the Crest whatever I was using! Second tube? Different manufacturer, worse than Tom's of Maine mint, feels like chalk. Barely held off a panic attack and physically gagging when I used it, due to sensory issues.

My first work-around is to do a tiny dab of Rx and a tiny dab of the Crest on my brush. Probably wouldn't bother with the mix if I was still using the fluoride rinse, but I'm on a different one, because of the crown. (Clorhexadine. Pretty sure I'll discontinue it sometime after my permanent crown is installed.)

Long-term solution would be to ask the pharmacist (in person!) if I could just get this one manufacturer from now on. Between an understaffed rural pharmacy and my nocturnal lifestyle, it's probably not going to work if I just send someone on my behalf. I -do- have another refill available, so it's not like they'd make me wait, necessarily.

I hope they laugh at my empty tube, because I squeezed the HECK out of that bastard. Dental stuff is sensory hell for me, so if I like a toothpaste, I don't want to waste it.

*Meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I know I'll get through this issue. Sometimes, though, the panic blinds me to the possibility of it working out, so think of things in dramatic terms. So, like, I'm trying to acknowledge my panic is a big feeling but not a big reality. I have the power to make it a less-big reality, too. (Gotta hype myself up!)

I just wanna help my dang cat I’m so stressed about her!!!

#I hate that her mouth is hurting so bad and that I’ve been TRYYYYIIIING to fix it for two months #but tests and other issues and meds keep getting in the way #and my regular vet isnt able to take dental radiographs atm which is what she really needs #and the emergency vet apparently doesn’t set aside emergency appts for dental issues and is booked out to july #there’s another vet near work that does urgent care that I might go to #It was recommended to wait for her ear meds to run their course before doing this but it’s really really impacting her #I have to feed her with a fuckin spoon #I’m so upset and feel like such a bad owner even though I’ve been doing everything I hate that this is taking so long #I AM JUST LIKE…..consumed by stress for my cat and have been for two months and fuck everything else

hoping new kitty's terrible breath is from dental disease that's still treatable

#i know dental disease can cause lots of problems if it goes untreated #but none of my previous cats really had bad dental issues. not even my 16 year old #her breath always smelled fine. whenever she yawned i'd do a quick sniff test ghdjfgjdk #her breath only got really bad when her kidneys failed...#but that was a different kind of smell. it just makes me anxious bc that memory is so horrible #my guess is they'll have to put her under and do a deep cleaning and maybe pull any bad teeth :( pobrecita #she's relaxing in my laundry basket for now though <3 #she's gorgeous though. blue eyes (just a teeensy bit cross-eyed) and like a cream siamese silky fur coat & a healthy coat is a good sign

I feel like my crown just shifted up oh my god

#i have a cleaning thursday before work so like i can tell someone #but also why did i do that i schedualed it super early like im already regreting it #considering itll be the day after valentines which means my shift ends at 9/9:30 #and ill have to be there at my dentist by 7:30am #its whatever i just need to finish my dental work at the office then get my wisdom tooh pulled and ill be done w my teeth health wise #and then its onto the allergy shots which reminds me i have to reschedual my appt w my ent hoepfully its not anything too crazy far out #but i wanna talk w him and be like hey these shits are expensive what are my options or do u wanna be a homie and update my diagnosis #so they can get covered by my insurance cause i think if i can breath at like even 80% capacity my life would immensly change #and i was reading abt how like major chronic allergies lead to inflamation and my drs were concered abt that n i know i need to lose weight #but not being able to breath thru my nose hinders that to a degree #but like severe allergies are horrible for inflamation and like fucks up ur body and its like no wonder i feel horrible all the time #and itll prolly massively improve my sleep which also helps you #and i gotta go see my thyroid dr whos on the opposite end of town and wont answer the fucking phone to schedule and appt #cause i have to do that to renew my prescription and frankly i wish my primary dr could take care of that or get a new thyroid dr in general #but shes on maternity leave so ill have to wait for that #my dentist is also on maternity leave so ill have to see a diff one #i also ghosted my cardiologist but he literally called and was like ur fine the tests we ran showed ur in good health #but u should be more in shape and i didnt want another lecure abt being fat so i didnt go but i prolly should tho my results #prolly arent relavent anymore #and ive attemped ive done my bike workout a bit but its also been winter and i cannot bring myself to do anything besides rot in bed #most of the time and if i am going out its like to the movies or events where i just stand around and talk to people very low effort #i also have to email that lady abt my cetificate i still havent gotten abd the haircut place who charved me twice and write that damn review #that ive forgotten so many times

opal was so well behaved (mostly because they had blankets scented with this drug that calms down cats we put it over her and she just became so eepy. it worked so well that a giant samoyed barking non-stop no breaks out of pure excitement for 5 minutes straight while bolting around in the same room as us didnt perturb her)

i pet her as she got her vaccination and she didnt even open her eyes when the needle was in. she let the. blanket cover her (she HATED being covered normally) because it made her feel so chilled. she only hissed when she got scooped. and the one time she did get agitated, when the vet was listening to her heartbeat, i started running my finger up her nose (have done so since she was a kitten 13/14 years ago) and the vet said her heart rate dropped immediately 🥺

#shes very healthy for a cat her age!#the only problems are; 1. shes lost muscle definition on her rught back leg. meaning she isnt putting weight on it #so it might be painful. we suspect arthritis. we are planning to out her on painkillers for a bit and then see the muscle development #2 weeks later #2. we have no idea how but she is missing teeth on her left side of her face. it was a quick look as she hates ppl looking in her mouth #but 2 teeth look broken off and theres inflamation so we will have to take a closer look in a dental #if the teeth are gone then she will be fine. will just get cream to soothe her gums #but if theyre broken we will need to put her under to take them out because the infection spreading to her jawbone would kill her #we're lucky we caught it so early #the only thing is we have no idea how this could have happened. it wasnt food or a cat fight. it would take a blunt force.#mum and my brother suspect she had a fall/messed up a jump and landed face first. shes done that before.#either way i look forward to alleviating as much pain as possible from her #also the prelim of the blood tests look great! no kidney disease!!!! i had suspected it cos she lost weight #but i think thats because the newish neighbiurs now know shes not a stray #and arent feeding her. shes a little nightmare #i love her tho shes baby #thought she would hold a grudge like she usually does but i found her by my heater an hour ago #and when she saw me she chirruped and showed me her belly so i know shes feeling good
