My favorite giant monsters in Disney films.
And would you believe most of these aren't bosses in the Kingdom Hearts series?

Now that Dinosaur is on its way out, we should really be pushing Disney to preserve this ride that so many of us love. The fossils and casts in the queue should really be preserved, not to mention the animatronics. All of them are pieces of Disney history. In particular, the Aladar animatronic should really be put in the Archives or something. But we know Disney won't do that, so fans should do it. Some of us should get together to get that animatronic out of there before the whole building is destroyed. Listen up: we’ve gotta get in, grab the iguanodon, and get out before that demolition hits. Let's roll!

Happy 25th anniversary, Dinosaur!

Disney's Dinosaur was released 25 years ago today!
That score by James Newton Howard still slaps, along with those scary-ass Carnotaurs.

A gifset of the Carnotaurus from Disney's Dinosaur (2000)
One of the main reasons why I still enjoy this film. Also the Dinosaur ride at Disney's Animal Kingdom is a lot of fun!

Official Dinoland USA mourning post. Please share things you'll miss about the land. Some of mine:
The Trilo-Bites food stand
The video of Aladar walking around the Dino Institute that plays in the Dinosaur gift shop
Sue the T. rex's cast and getting to tell people that McDonald's was responsible for buying the original skeleton
The little scarf they put on that Corythosaurus statue on the dinosaur sculpture trail
The third Carnotaurus animatronic on Dinosaur, which has possibly the funniest B-mode ever
The Boneyard, and how cast members never look at you weird for playing in it even if you're an adult
Chip and Dale's dinosaur costumes
The fact that they refer to every other dinosaur on the ride by their scientific name, but the raptor is just "raptor"
Hey did you know that the red, white and yellow pipes are ketchup, mayo and mustard?
The unbeatable thrill of winning a Triceratops Spin plush, because the carnival games require skill and you know you earned it
Rope dropping Dinosaur and walking onto it several times in a row

One critique I have about Dinosaur is that I wish we saw Neera and Kron’s sibling relationship explored more. One thing we do know is that he’s just as cold and controlling towards her as he is with everyone else, such as when he forces Neera away from Aladar, however she does assure Aladar that she’ll be okay (and when we see her again she’s still strong and unharmed, so we know he’d most likely never never harm her physically).

We also know that Neera initially believes in the “survival of the fittest” ideology (and indeed, that is how it is in the wild) but she later mentions to Aladar that she’s not so sure anymore ever since he showed up. Even before she tells him that you can see her starting to question her brother’s ideology first when she confronts him about moving on from the dried-up lake since dehydration will result in them losing half the herd, to which he replies that they’ll “save the half that deserves to live” and she reacts with shock, disgust and rage. Then later when Aladar discovers water under the lake, Neera takes notice of the different leadership styles between Aladar, who is trying to slow down the stampede so that everyone gets a chance to drink, versus Kron, who’s refusing to share.
Much later when Kron and Aladar fight, the fight comes to an end when Neera pushes Kron away from Aladar when he was about to strike a killing blow, much to Kron’s shock. When she and the herd leave with Aladar, he calls her name for her to come back. And while his demand for Neera and the herd to come back is still abusive control, he does look like he’s also experiencing heartbreak over his sister turning on him and leaving him (at least that’s what I see in his face).

Then of course there’s Kron’s death scene. When Neera sees that her brother is in trouble, she runs back to fight off the carnotaurus (helped by Aladar). His eyes widen at the sight of his sister fighting off the carnostaurus, but he’s dying fast so he doesn’t have time to have more of a reaction. When Neera sees that her brother is dead, she reacts with grief and is comforted by Aladar.
youtube
Now let me talk about a deleted scene that I wish had been kept in; one where Neera saves the orphaned baby Iguanodons from being attacked by raptors despite Kron’s demand to leave them since they’re on their own. While Neeras fighting the raptors off she ends up getting attacked herself before being saved by none other than Kron. After the raptors are defeated, he lets Neera know that if she forgets the “survival of the fittest” ways of the herd again, he won’t be there to save her.
youtube
Imo it’s a huge mistake that they left this out since it adds that depth to their relationship that I wish was in the movie. If Neera hadn’t gone back to save the babies, he absolutely would’ve let them die. He truly believes in survival of the fittest, no matter how young, elderly or helpless to weaker ones are. What made him turn back and fight off the predators was his sister being in danger. And I know it ended with him telling her she’d be on her own next time, but that was probably just him trying to hide his caring side towards her to avoid appearing “weak”. You could say that Neera running back to save Kron from the carnotaurus could be seen as her repaying Kron for coming to save her from the raptors, but I guess you could also argue she would’ve saved him either way since he’s her brother and she does love him.
An interesting post I saw the other day had concept and storyboard art from a deleted scene where we saw Kron and Bruton as children.
I’m not sure if there’s any information anywhere about what the two went through in that flashback but the drawings with the carnotaurus seem to hint that they’ve had hard upbringings that would’ve explained why they’re the way they are. Something I’m also wondering is, where’s Neera in these? They do seem to have an age gap so maybe she wasn’t born until he was older. Maybe they weren’t always meant to be brother and sister…were Kron and Bruton ever intended to be brothers? They clearly aren’t brothers in the movie but I don’t know too much about any changes the characters could’ve gone through during production and pre-production.
Anyway yeah tl:dr, I wish we saw more of their sibling relationship.
