There's a not insignificant chance I'll get to open a DND club at my school so I made these quick charts to help. They're made to be printed in A5 format, and if anyone is interested I can try and put a link to the PDF version on drive.

First image covers the type and names of dice. Image 2 explains ability scores, img 3 explains what modifiers, HP, AC, Proficiency, DC saving throw & death save mean.

Image 4 & 5 are also lists of words but they have a big red logo with white axes in it. Img 4 explains flanking, advantage, disadvantage, melee range, critical hit/fail, area of effect and ranged spell attack. Img 5 explains the elements of combat: Initiative, what a Round is, movement, action, bonus action, reaction, attack of opportunity.

My next step is to make one of these per class to help players remember their main level 1 features and main rolls, but that's probably going to have to wait until later.

The Siren's Song

The sun was setting over the coastal cliffs, casting a red and orange hue over the rocky terrain. The sound of a beautiful song could be heard echoing through the valley, drawing the attention of a group of adventurers who were making their way through the treacherous path.

As they approached the source of the music, they were greeted with the sight of a harpy, perched on a cliffside. Its body was that of a vulture, with wings and legs, but its torso, arms and head were that of a human. Its wicked talons and bone club made it a formidable threat in combat, and its eyes reflected the absolute evil of its soul.

The harpy's sweet song had lured countless adventurers to their deaths, drawing them in close for the harpy to kill and consume. The adventurers were caught off guard by the harpy's song, and they were compelled to blunder towards its source. The harpy charmed them before attacking, using its song to lure them over the cliff and into deadly pits.

The harpy took pleasure in the suffering and death of its prey, delighting in the "music" they made as they screamed. It took its time dismembering its helpless foes, and it could spend days torturing its victims before the merciful end.

The harpy collected shiny baubles, valuable objects and other trophies from its victims, sometimes fighting with other harpies for the right to claim the choicest prizes. When no valuable objects could be found, the harpy took hair, bones or body parts to line its nest. Its lair was hidden in remote ruins, where adventurers could discover valuable treasure and magic hidden beneath foul piles of offal.

The group of adventurers were never seen again, and their fate remains unknown. But one thing was certain, the sadistic harpy was always on the hunt for its next prey, and its sweet song would continue to lure unsuspecting victims to their deaths.

Escape from the Gaze of Stone

The sun beat down on the desert sands as the small group of travelers made their way through the barren landscape. They had been warned of the dangers that lurked in this area, but they had heard rumors of a hidden treasure that would make all the risks worth it.

As they walked, they came across a strange object lying on the ground. It looked like a piece of a statue, but upon closer inspection, they realized it was a piece of a human, turned to stone. They knew immediately that they were in the territory of a basilisk.

The group quickened their pace, knowing that the creature was likely nearby. But it was too late. Out of the shadows, a massive creature emerged, its gaze locking onto one of the travelers. The man immediately froze in place, his body turning to stone before the horrified eyes of his companions.

The basilisk let out a low growl as it approached the petrified man, ready to consume its prey. The remaining travelers knew they had to act fast if they wanted to save their friend. One of them pulled out a small vial of oil, given to them by an alchemist they had met on their journey.

They poured the oil onto the stone man, and to their amazement, he began to change back into flesh and blood. However, it was clear that parts of him were still missing, lost forever in stone form. The group knew that they had to escape the basilisk's gaze if they wanted to survive.

They turned and ran, leaving the creature behind to feast on its prey. They knew they would not be able to return to this place, not with the basilisk lurking in the shadows. But they also knew that they had been lucky to escape with their lives, and they would never forget the power of the gaze of stone.

While hiking I kept finding a super cool type of moss that I had not seen before! It grows on rock and wood in very wet areas. Here we found some on a rock in a stream! It looks like a tiny little forest on a rock!
