Does anyone know of document tracking software that, instead of having document “owners” who can take certain actions, implements a consensus model where anyone on the team can propose changes, mark pages for deletion, etc., and anyone else on the team has the opportunity to block the action?

(I know we software folks have that in source control systems, but I am looking for something designed for not-tech-y uses?)

♡ Budget / Expenses Spreadsheet ♡ (Customizable)

Hi guys!!! I've gotten a few asks about budgeting and handling money better — a post on that is in the works now — but I figured I would share the budgeting/expenses Google sheet that I made and have been using for about two years.

This is a link to the spreadsheet & under the "read more" I'll kind of go into detail about what it is, how to use it, and how to customize it to fit your needs.

I like using Google Docs because it's easy to access on both phone and computer so regardless of where you are you can quickly open it up and note down if you spend something or see how much you have left to spend on something. (I'll make a follow-up post at some point going over the process of making a reasonable budget and all that good stuff a little bit later, this post is really just about what the document is and how to use it ^-^)

You need to make your own copy of the spreadsheet so that you can start to edit and use it! When you open up the document click on "File" then select "Make a Copy"

2. Now that you have your own copy let's look at the "Monthly Expenses" part of the document.

This is the main part - your monthly expenses. I have it broken down into different categories so I can see how much money I'm spending on what, and notice if I'm spending too much on something. DO NOT EDIT THE COLOURED BOXES. Those are auto-updating, so you don't want to edit them or they won't auto-update anymore.

The monthly expenses table pulls data from this table down towards the bottom of the spreadsheet. This is where you can note down anything you spend money on. You have a drop-down menu to select what category the purchase falls under, what payment method you used, the total, and any notes about the purchase. The document will automatically add up any values for a category and put the total into the table at the top - that way you don't have to do any math at all its awesome.

CHANGING CATEGORY NAMES (please pay attention to this since if you change category names without following these steps it will not work anymore) You need to change the category name in 3 different places.

1- Change the name on the "Monthy Expenses" table 2- Change the name in the formatting code in the "actual" part of the "monthly expenses table" When you click on the value under the "actual" part of the monthly expenses table you should see something that looks like "=SUMIF(E36:E1002, "Eating Out", G36:G1002)" then just change "Eating Out" to whatever your preferred category name is.

3- Change the name in the drop-down options of the daily purchases part of the document When you click on the dropdown menu, click the edit button. That will open the menu on the right-hand side of the screen, scroll down and change whichever category name you want to edit to the preferred category name.

Make sure that it is spelled the SAME WAY in all 3 of these places or it will not work properly!! I also made a short video showing how I would change the category "nicotine" to "fashion" to show you how it's done:

Once you've done that everything should auto-update properly, and the spending chart will update with the new name as well no need to edit the pie chart at all.

And this pie chart will automatically update to show you a visual of how much money you're spending on what (comparatively).

If you want to change the category names of the payment methods those you can just change in the drop-down edit menu - the names of those do not affect anything so you can change their names, add new ones, delete ones, whatever you want to do and you don't have to worry about anything else getting messed up.

3. The monthly income table is just tracking what your projected income vs. actual income was for the month

again, don't type in the coloured boxes, they will automatically update. I mostly use this as a sort of starting point for planning my budget so that I can sort of see how much money I expect to have for the month so I can plan around that number. This doesn't affect anything else in the document, so if you don't like it you can honestly delete it.

4. Savings and Debts trackers

Again, these aren't tied to anything else in the document so you can delete them if you like. I mostly use these to see whether my savings are going up or down, and keep track of how much money I owe to other people T-T. One note I will make is that the debts tracker does not take interest into account so I honestly just manually update it every month. (It is not a very extensive tracker, and if you need to manage debt there are honestly better ways to do it than this, I just kind of have it in here as a visual for myself).

And again, post about budgeting and fiscal responsibility and all that jazz coming later, but for now try it and see if you like it! See if you can log every purchase you make for a week! That way you'll be able to start seeing what you tend to spend your money on the most, and how much money you spend, and then we can kind of build a budget later on with that in mind ^-^

Why isn't Ford an official wizard? He went to magic school and all that? Do love that it kind of mirrors the canon Stan twins attitudes towards crime though. With both committing crimes for survival but Ford's are also to build a magic space gun.

Ford did not go to magic school, he went to a college for commoners that makes scribes and lower government official types, just so he could have some kind of higher learning. That's actually the reason for the Stan twins falling out in this universe, Ford was getting scouted by West Coast Wizards for a chance to officially learn magic, and Stan accidentally messed up the enchanted objects circle, doing a patch job that failed before the examiners saw it. They saw Ford as a fraud and a waste of time and wrote him off. Ford recognized Stan's work and confronted him about it, Filbrick overheard, Stan gets kicked out until he can make back all the money Ford would have gotten from being a wizard.

Ford didnt give up his pursuit of magic though, practicing in secret even as he attended his classes, then learning more from Fiddleford. Children are allowed allowances to learn magic, so that people can keep an eye out for talent, but once they hit 18 you need a license to practice. They're very expensive to apply for, and people who apply from the streets have a higher chance of being rejected out of hand, and are treated as suspect. Ford's attempted to apply for one twice. The first time right out of college, where the application was rejected since he was still listed as a fraud, and once more right before he came to Gravity Falls, where he was detained as a suspect criminal or terrorist and had to go through a whole legal proceeding while Fiddleford fretted. Its one of the reason's he's very bitter towards official wizards and started beef with them when he was a traveling scholar.

Ford does not see his magic as a crime, he sees the kingdom not giving him a license a crime. And the fact that they even have licenses. Magic should be free to use! Anyone who understands runes enough to use them should be allowed! But him specifically! Don't they know he's a once in a lifetime genius, who built a (sorta) bottomless chest when he was fifteen! Most wizards cant make a (not really) bottomless chest at fifty! Let him do magic without being tackled by knights as a rouge spell caster!

Anyways, if you do comms the whole "2+ characters in a single piece costs less than if they were bought as separate commissions" thing Isn't supposed to be a buy one get one x% off type situation.

Your commission prices should be accounting for the time you spend communicating with the client, the time you spend on file storage and prep, and the time it takes to properly document your communications and the transaction. Those things all take time and it Really adds up when you do enough comms. And the time they take? doesn't usually change much based on the number of characters.

That's why the second, third, etc, character can cost less. Not because you're giving a discount. Right. Right? Y'all aren't cutting yourself a bad deal, right? You're Not paying yourself less than an exploitative boss would pay you for that time and skilled labor, right?

A small piece of paper. The letter is written in half elvhen, half common. There are typos, but it is more of a note - the parchment closer to the closest piece of paper one could find. Some of the text on the edges is worn out.

Papae is worried sick, Asharen. I had to convince Mamae to not come herself. Please. I will remain in Antiva City for the next three days at the Andorinha Inn. Please come talk to me, to at least know you are still alive. Or let me in, I know you are in there, I see candle light burning at night. The handwriting is sloppy and with multiple crossed out words. It is still beautiful, despite all the crossing of words with typos. Whoever was writing the letter, was holding the quill too strongly, pressing too hard.

Inquisitor, I know you do not like me calling you that but I am at my wits' end. If I do not receive a missive from you or someone around you I am going to march myself to Antiva City and tear down your wall - no, I will not care about your books or notes. And no, I will not care that Varric told me not to do it. If you were to answer your missives then I wouldn't feel the need to do this. I am worried, you didn't sound like yourself on the last letter - and that has been a while. Don't make me contact Lady Montilyet.

Less of a authority question and more of a casual silly question, do you, Dogday, or whoever you’ve drawn enjoy lasagna?

Ooo! Fun question! I love lasagna, but it's not my go to Italian food! I'm more of stuffed pasta with pesto type o person!

HOWEVER! Dogday is an avid lasagna fan! As a human, he grew up reading the Garfiled comics and always loved the fact he shared a favorite food with the sassy orange fat cat (His fav character was Odie tho).

He hasn't tasted lasagna in a WHILE (for obvious reasons), but I think an opportunity to taste it again would unlock a core memory!

Who's Read What in Dracula? Masterpost

This is a little self-assigned project to try and keep track of who has read (as well as written) what documents, and, importantly, when they do so. Last year I spent some time thinking about this and it informed some of my thoughts about specific characters' perspectives and actions in interesting ways. So I thought it could be a neat resource to have for others!

I'm going to update this in time with the novel, so there won't be any spoilers. This post is going to be a master reference, with links to each individual character's posts. I originally wanted to do this as a series of graphs for each character, with color-coded bars for each document they've read, but I'm not savvy enough to figure out a non-confusing way to do so, especially given the number of different authors/documents. Instead, I'm going to have a separate post for each character, and just have the info in written form there. Here are the links to each of those, in order of introduction:

Some housekeeping notes: Obviously, each character will have read their own writing. I'm not going to update day-by-day for any such things. Instead, I'll only update whenever they access new information by someone else, or begin what I'm counting as a new document.

Most of the time, we know for a fact when characters get access to a new document. However, there are a few exceptions. I have my theories, but I will mark them as speculative whenever that label applies.

I break up documents based on chunks of information and have assigned titles to them as such. The labels may change as time goes by as needed to avoid spoilers. I also try to add in dates, but for any longer accounts it will just be a range of dates rather than every entry.

Below the cut is a list of all the documents, in order of appearance, with dates. I'm using color-coding for all the main authors, which will match the colors used in individual character posts. This too will be updated over time, so no worries about spoilers here either. Unless, of course, you don't want to know if someone who has only written once before will go on to write often... in that case, don't look below.

* We know these documents exist, but never get to read them (or in one case, only get a brief excerpt) as they aren't added to the record. Sometimes some of the main characters do get to read them, but not always.

Question marks after a date denote uncertainty, though they're all likely written within a few days of the tentative one listed. When after a dash (-?) they mark an as-yet incomplete document.

Some documents contain others within them. When this becomes relevant for characters reading them, I will list the main document read, then all others included in it with brackets, like this:

Making lore for the night furies for my httyd 3 rewrite concept is painfull because they're genuinely one of my least favorite httyd dragon species. I mean some of the reasons for my dislike of them I'm getting rid of but that doesn't make it any less eye-rolling.
