#Draco changes after the war

Hey do you have any Drarry fic recs which basically have Draco completely changing in 8th year/after the war, like he's dyed his hair and has tattoos and just has become more friendly and changed and Harry basically loses his mind? Kinda tired of the grovelling Draco or animosity fics atp.. Thanks :)
Hi anon! Omg yes, love me confused Harry losing his mind over a changed, hotter and confident Draco. This trope always delivers even when Draco doesn’t go through major physical changes (I love it when he gets extra though 🤌🏼). I have a few recs but they’re all post-Hogwarts, I hope they still work for you!
Enjoy the Silence by @shealwaysreads (M, 3.4k)
Draco stops speaking, gets some tattoos, and discovers that Harry’s happy to be quiet with him.
Under Your Skin by p1013 (E, 4k)
He initials another section and flips the page. Being a junior Auror is a lot more grunt work than he expected, and the paperwork isn't even the worst of it. He's also managed to catch intake duty. It's getting close to 2 AM, there hasn't been a single arrest brought in tonight, and he's still got another six hours before his shift is over. Rubbing a hand over his face, he prays for something, anything, to make the interminable evening better.
The Study of Change by p1013 (M, 4.3k)
Harry's going to hell. He's going to hell immediately. Even with all of the good he's done in his life, he's never going to overcome the impure thoughts racing through his head at the sight of Draco Malfoy looking like an academic wet dream in a room full of barely legal adults.
Starstruck by phrynne (E, 4.5k)
Yeah, Malfoy has pink hair. Or sort of. Half of his hair is shaved short and dyed an aggressive pink. The other half is still white-blond, a strand falling over his right eye, only the left side of his face visible at all times. He turns it slightly and spots me beyond the moving bodies. He doesn’t stop dancing, a smile plays on his lips. This time I don’t look away like I used to when all this began.
Sex on Legs in Six-Inch Heels by @tessacrowley (E, 9.6k)
Draco Malfoy is a brilliant freelance cursebreaker and the only one who can help the Department of Magical Law Enforcement with a very dangerous case, but more importantly, he's wearing six-inch heels, and Harry cannot handle it, he really just can't.
Dream by the Fire by GallifreyisBurning (M, 11k)
When Draco Malfoy resurfaces in England after eight years abroad—tattooed, pierced, and wanting to take over a corner of Harry's coffee shop to work on a writing project—Harry can't help but be intrigued. Where has he been? What is he working on? Why here? And why does he have to look so stupidly hot with all those tattoos?
Cold Like Fire by QueenofThyme (M, 12k)
Head Auror Harry Potter had no problem with mandatory consent training for his team. He’d actually been looking forward to it, that is, until he discovered who the teacher was. Now, he had no idea how he was going to get through the training without throwing a hex at Draco Malfoy. Or a punch.
In the Shape of Things to Come by @academicdisasterfic (E, 15k)
Existential angst and chronic boredom are plaguing Harry Potter in his cushy post-war life. However, a chance encounter with a tattooed, pierced, disgruntled Draco Malfoy in the middle of Muggle Camden seems to spark something in Harry again—and he never could stay away from Malfoy.
We Might Be Too Old for a Bildungsroman by @wellhalesbells (T, 21k)
Harry finds something he’s been looking for since the war’s end. Admittedly, the packaging’s a bit odder than he expected.
Ink (My Skin With Your Name) by Kandakicksass (M, 22k)
Several years after the war, an ostracized Draco Malfoy covers himself in tattoos, becomes best friends with a muggle, and debates abandoning magical society entirely to work in a tattoo shop. All in all, he's having a hell of a time trying to figure out who he is and what he wants to do with his life. The last thing he needs is to run into Harry Potter, who seems intent on becoming his friend, even if he has to get a lot of ink to do it.
All Bets Are Off by dualwieldteacup (M, 31k)
Harry Potter's latest security assignment brings him to Las Vegas for the International Wizarding Casino World Series. At a magic underwater hotel, he is tasked with guarding the legendary and mysterious gambler known as Snake Eyes. The stakes are high when both Galleons and emotions are involved. Not to mention peacock pool floats, secret pizza, and most importantly of all, second chances.

i love when they dont make draco instantly a good person or a morally correct person yk, because the mischaracterising that would be is wild.
i really like when they don’t gaslight us with that, and give draco his past as an annoying and not-good kid that was following his parents actions and what he was taught. because yes, he wasn’t a good person, but i really think that if you have been taught to be like that all you life, it’s complicated to see that youre doing wrong.
AND THATS WHAT I LIKE, when draco has this debate with himself about what he was taught and the cruel reality of things. he foes through this and at the end of the day he realises that he did really really wrong.
and i think theres a huge difference between making him instantly good and a not-regretting-anything-or-feeling-that-much-guilt person, and making him go through this process of reasoning about what he has done and he DECIDING VOLUNTARILY to change that. and past cant be changed but the guilt he feels after realising all that, and changing those ideas in him is the important part of his redemption arc.
i really like reading this process on draco.
#and i cant say anything without mentioning drarry so:#i think this is an important part of why drarry works and even more in a post war context#(or any in general but yk what i mean)#because harry after seeing this change in draco he can really feel free about liking him#because yes draco was a horrible kid in the past#and its not that easy to forgive and forget#but harry sees the CHANGE he did and he is trying to do#harry sees that he is not that 12 year old kid anymore#and even in war context when draco LIED for him (harry)#harry saw where draco really stood and what draco was going through (this process of change/his redemption arc)#drarry#harry potter#draco x harry#draco malfoy#dlm#draco lucius malfoy

Hi,
I like your writings very much, so I came with a story request.
I was thinking of something between the fem!reader x Sirius in the Marauders alternate universe. I leave the gaps to you of course, what I have in mind is something like this:
The reader is in the Syltherin building during Hogwarts and in the years before she graduated she was in love with Sirius and they were together a few times. but she was never liked or appreciated by the marauders because of her house and friends. Then there was a death eater. But she never went to Azkaban. She has close relations with the Malfoy family, they are like family. (the reader could be Draco's godmother etc.)
Voldemort may not return in this time period, so Sirius and Lupin are still alive and everything is fine at Hogwarts; For example, Harry stays with Sirius during the summer vacations (some good things) **But there is a new transfer to the school. The reader's son arrives late at school and enters the Syltherine (he comes from Beauxbatons or Durmstang because his mother, the reader, has business in another country. Obviously the detail here is not very important :D)
I've given a lot of background details, but what I really want to read from you is that after the reader's son arrives at Hogwarts, there will be a parent-teacher meeting or a ball or whatever you can think of that will bring all the parents back to school. No one knows who the father of the reader's son is (except the Malfoys), but Sirius and Lupin suspect Rosier or Crouch, but the boy's jet-black hair and slanted eyes tell a different story. - I think Remus would be the first one who would have something in his head when he saw the boy for the first time. I would also like to see the reader x Sirius encounter who hid this forbidden relationship child for years.
I wrote too long but I think we needed a background story, I would be happy if you write it. I'm excited to read it as soon as possible.
Much much love.
Hi! Thank you so much for this request! I hope I did it justice. ❤︎ I really really like this concept and enjoyed writing it
'He looks like his father'
part two part three
Sirius Black x fem!Slytherin!reader
3.6k words
cw: mention of war, y/n y/l/n, angst if you squint?
Your son often asked about his father. You understood his curiosity about the man he never met and whose identity few knew. When he asked about his father’s name, you told him it was irrelevant as his father was dead; you actually had no idea about Sirius’ status, but the lie was the easiest thing. As for your son’s other questions, you kept things vague. There were some things that were just so definitive of him.
After telling him a story about Sirius and the better parts of him, you would let your thoughts linger on your past.
Your parents were friendly with select pure blood families, including the Blacks. At parties, you’d be put in a room with the other children. Narcissa and Andromeda Black took a liking to you. Those parties were your first interactions with Sirius, although he didn’t give you much attention then. As you got older, you were more friendly, but you still stayed mostly with the girls.
A lot of that friendliness vanished the moment you were sorted into Slytherin and Sirius into Gryffindor. You knew there had to be some residual amicability between you as you fell victim to the Marauders’ pranks far less than other Slytherins. By third year, you and Sirius were consistently getting into loud arguments in the corridors and the occasional duel. And then something changed in fifth year. There was a heated debate and harsh words were exchanged, yet somehow you ended up in a broom closet with Sirius.
You had thought the rest would be history. But that wasn’t how life worked out. It was an on-and-off relationship filled with petty breakups and crawling back with half-assed apologies. You knew his friends had more influence over your relationship than you would’ve liked, but they were Sirius’ chosen family and you were a reminder of his birth family. His friends were never particularly nice to you. They judged you for your pride and hated you for your friends. They acted like you personally chose your house and family name.
Right out of Hogwarts, you became a Death Eater at the urging of your parents and friends. You followed along with the rules and fought when requested. But as soon as you found out you were pregnant, you ran. In a foreign country, you burned your arm until the dark mark was indiscernible, although the magic within it still burned. You covered the burn with new tattoos.
You lived in various countries throughout Europe with your son, naming him Perseus after the constellation. It was the only Black tradition you carried on.
Your work as a curse breaker required you to visit England. You weren’t sure what possessed you to do it, but you reached out to Narcissa. She was ecstatic to hear from you and immediately invited you to the Malfoy Manor. You accepted on the condition that your son also be welcome. She was delighted to find out that you had a son, telling you she had one as well.
“Dear, it’s so lovely to see you!” Narcissa exclaimed as you arrived at Malfoy Manor with Percy holding your hand. “This is Draco.”
Her son was standing at her leg, clutching her robes with a death grip.
“Hello, Draco,” you said, addressing the small white-blonde child. “This is Percy. I think you two will be friends.”
Your dark haired son extended a hand to Draco, who looked up at his mother for assurance. Narcissa nodded. Then Draco let go of her and took Percy’s hand. Then they were running off somewhere to play.
“Would you like some tea?” Narcissa offered.
“That would be lovely,” you answered, following her through her home.
Over tea, you caught up on everything that had happened since you disappeared, including the downfall of Voldemort, the death of the Potters and the Malfoys’ avoidance of Azkaban.
“Enough of that heavy stuff. I must know. Is there a man in your life?” Narcissa asked, slowly stirring her tea.
You laughed. “No, Cissa. I travel too much for work.”
“Then, pray tell, who is little Percy’s father?”
You gave her a pointed look. “If I tell you, you can’t tell anyone. Percy doesn’t know and thinks that he is dead.”
Narcissa leaned over the table, more intrigued than ever.
“I won’t even tell Lucius. Who?”
“Your cousin. Sirius.”
She gasped. “No!”
“Please, you must’ve thought it as soon as you saw him,” you teased. Percy shared many of his father’s looks, including his signature dark curls.
“That means that Draco and Percy are practically cousins! Oh, you must visit more often, dear. You’re literally family!”
You smiled. She had taken the news better than you expected and this first visit was the beginning of a tradition. Although your work kept you traveling around Europe, you would visit Malfoy Manor for Christmas and periodically throughout the summer. Because your work kept you around eastern Europe, you enrolled Percy in Durmstrang when he came of age. You were sad to cut his dark curls to fit the uniform, but you knew he needed an education and the firm hand that Durmstrang was known for.
Then opportunity presented itself: a job offer that would settle you in England for a few years. You discussed it with Percy. It would mean transferring to Hogwarts and leaving all of his friends.
“But I’d get to go to school with Draco?” he asked excitedly.
You nodded and it was quickly decided. He would transfer. You wrote to Albus Dumbledore to make it all official. You started telling Percy more stories about your time at Hogwarts, how you were in Slytherin, just like Draco is and as Lucius and Narcissa were, and how his father was in Gryffindor. You told him about Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest.
“Our rule stays the same, Percy. If you’re going to break school rules, don’t get caught.”
Percy laughed and ran a hand through his chin-length hair.
“Can I grow my hair out? What’s their uniform?” he asked, sounding hopeful at the potential of keeping his curls.
“Grow it as long as you’d like. But for the love of Merlin, wash it and take care of it. I won’t be having you look like a ghoul.”
---
After James and Lily died and Sirius arrived at their house, he found Harry and didn’t let go. He took the boy and went to Remus; it was all he could think to do. As beyond furious at Peter and ruined as he was, saving his godson was his priority. He and Remus agreed to raise Harry together. The boy with the lightning shaped scar grew up knowing love, knowing of his parents’ story and knowing of the magical world.
“Did you read Harry’s letter?” Remus asked, walking into the kitchen.
He had read it when it arrived earlier that morning and left it on the table for Sirius. It was the first one after sending Harry off to Hogwarts that fall.
“What’d he say?” Sirius replied, not looking up from the Daily Prophet he was reading.
“There’s a transfer student from Durmstrang. Apparently he’s close to the Malfoys.”
Sirius hummed. It wasn’t that he wasn’t interested in a transfer student. They were pretty rare among the wizarding schools. The student being close to the Malfoys, although a point of interest, wasn’t something he cared for.
But after a minute, he asked, “Well, what’s the boy’s name?”
He knew that Remus wouldn’t have brought up the boy unless there was something more intriguing about him.
“Percy… Y/L/N.”
Sirius slowly set down the paper and looked at Remus with a stony expression.
“Oh. She has a kid then.” He cleared his throat. “Makes sense that he’s close with the Malfoys then. Death Eaters, the bunch of ‘em.”
“Who do you suppose is the father?” Remus mused. He knew he should tread lightly on the topic, but he was genuinely curious about what Sirius thought of his Hogwarts fling having a kid.
“Dunno. Junior?” Sirius offered without much conviction.
“I was thinking maybe Rosier… Suppose they both have that idiot recklessness that she likes.”
Sirius frowned at Remus, knowing that dig was aimed at him as well. He was one who returned to you time and time again, despite what his friends convinced him was his better judgment.
“When was the last time you saw her?” Remus asked as he put a kettle on the stovetop.
Sirius froze for a moment. There had been a night a year after they graduated when they ran into each other at a bar. The combination of residual feelings, alcohol and stress of war brought them together for the night. Sirius hadn’t told anyone about it and planned on taking it to the grave.
“Not since graduation. Now that you mention it, I think she was getting cozy with Rosier back then,” Sirius said, picking his paper back up.
“Would be a shame if it was him though.”
“Why’s that, Moony?” There was an edge to his voice.
“Moody took care of him pretty quick, didn’t he? Probably didn’t even know he was going to be a dad. And the boy’s grown up without a father.”
Sirius scoffed. “Better no father than him.”
---
Sirius and Remus were usual supporters of the Gryffindor quidditch team, especially since Harry was seeker. They attended every match Gryffindor played, apparating into Hogsmeade and walking to the pitch. The Malfoys also regularly attended games to support Draco. When Narcissa insisted that you come to a match with them, she didn’t consider that Sirius might be there.
You were greatly enjoying yourself. Quidditch was always entertaining and it was nice to see some of your old teachers. You would’ve been lying if being back at school didn’t raise various feelings, but it wasn’t something you were going to deal with right away. After Slytherin’s win, you followed the Malfoys down to the ground to greet Draco. You didn’t even notice when you passed Sirius and Remus, who were waiting for Harry to find them.
“Huh… looks like she’s here,” Remus muttered, nudging Sirius and jutting his chin in the direction you were walking.
Sirius didn’t say anything. He hadn’t expected to see you. He was also taken aback by how good you looked; he was rendered speechless.
Then a boy pushed between the men.
“Sorry,” he said quickly, turning to give them a brief smile. Then he started to run again. “Oi! Mum!” he called.
As Sirius watched you pull the boy decked in Slytherin gear into a hug, Remus had to take a double take. The dark curls, the striking grey eyes, the smile. There was one thing on Remus’ mind: that was not Evan Rosier’s son.
“Percy!” you exclaimed. “Oh, your hair!”
“Looks good, don’t it?”
You gave Narcissa an amused look before saying, “Just like your father’s.”
“Aunt Cissa, Uncle Lucius! Hey!” Percy said, breaking out of your hug. “Wasn’t Draco brilliant?”
As Percy talked with the Malfoys, you spotted Remus and Sirius over his head. Your breath hitched at the sight. With them was James Potter? Or that’s what you thought. Except this James was still 15 and very much not dead. You looked away from them, trying to listen to the conversation happening around you. Your mind, however, drifted to Sirius and the fact that he was here. It was the closest Percy had been to his father ever. And this was not the moment for Percy to find out his dad was, in fact, not dead.
“Butterbeers in Hogsmeade?” Narcissa offered the group, which was slowly growing as more of the Slytherin team and their parents gathered.
The group eagerly agreed. For some reason, you glanced back at Sirius and Remus. The James-boy had disappeared and they were both looking at you. You reached for Narcissa’s arm.
“I’ll meet you there. I have to talk to some people first.”
She followed your gaze to Remus and Sirius. She nodded and ushered the group ahead, including Percy. You walked toward the former Gryffindors.
“Didn’t expect to see you two here,” you said dryly.
“My godson invited us,” Sirius said firmly. Now that you were standing in front of him, he had conflicting feelings.
“Your godson?”
“James and Lily’s son. Harry,” Remus explained.
He assumed you knew of the Potters’ passing. Everyone did. It was what ended the war.
You nodded. “James 2.0 from the looks of it.”
Sirius laughed, “Yeah, he gets that a lot.” He paused, giving you a once over. “So, you’re here.”
“Yeah,” you said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “Cissa invited me to watch Draco-” Sirius made a face. “-and I thought it would be good to see my son.”
“Your son? You have a kid?” Remus asked, pretending as if he and Sirius hadn’t known about this through Harry’s letters.
“Is that so hard to believe, Lupin? Potters’ had a kid. Why can’t I?” you asked defensively.
“So, erm, your husband stay home then?” Sirius asked, not letting Remus respond.
“Don’t have one.”
“Boyfriend?” Sirius furrowed his brows.
“No.”
“No father-figure in your son’s life then?” Remus asked with his arms crossed.
“He went to Durmstrang. Got plenty of guidance there. He’s fine. Plus, there’s… Lucius. If he even counts,” you said with a sigh. “How have you two been? Raising Harry as exhausting as Percy’s been?”
“Percy?” Sirius repeated.
“Merlin, Black, my son. Perseus.”
“Like the myth?”
“Like the constellation.”
That was an interesting tidbit of information, Remus thought.
“If you don’t mind me asking, who’s his father then? I don’t recall you having a boyfriend when we graduated,” Remus inquired, feigning his curiosity. At this point, he was 90% sure that he was standing with both parents right now.
He got the confirmation he needed as your face immediately dropped into something cold.
“That’s a rather personal question, Lupin.”
“Well?” Sirius followed up. “Who is it?”
You didn’t answer. You opted to keep the cold expression on your face until one of them changed the topic. Remus wasn’t going to drop it though.
“He looks like his father, doesn’t he? Bit uncanny. Just like how Harry looks like James.”
You clenched your jaw, narrowing your eyes at Remus. Seeing your son once, Remus picked up what Lucius and countless others missed.
“Who does he look like?” Sirius asked Remus, making Remus laugh.
Of course Sirius didn’t see himself in Percy. You never can see how someone looks like you, but to Remus, they were incredibly similar. It didn’t help that when Percy had ran past them, Sirius had been paying more attention to you than your child.
“You,” you breathed. You didn’t want Remus to be the one who told Sirius.
Sirius coughed, turning back to you.
“Excuse me?” he croaked.
“Percy looks like you,” you clarified as you looked him in the eyes.
“He looks like his father?” Sirius whispered to himself as he slowly pieced it all together. “I have a son?”
You nodded, returning your expression to its previous coldness.
“Which I don’t understand. Pads, you told you two haven’t seen each other since graduation and if he’s Harry’s age…” Remus said.
“Pads lied to you, Lupin,” you chuckled.
“Just like how you lied to me?” Sirius asked you, taking a step forward.
“I didn’t lie. I just never told you.”
“Same thing!” he exclaimed.
“I’m… going to find Harry… or something. I’ll find you later, Sirius,” Remus said before walking away. This was obviously a conversation you two needed to have without an audience.
“You never told me you were pregnant!” Sirius continued. “In the past sixteen years, not a single letter about this?”
You shook your head in disbelief. “What would you have done if I had? It was one night of a rekindled school flame that didn’t even see the sun rise. It wasn’t like I was expecting a relationship from you.”
“You didn’t give me a chance!”
“Would you have? Would you have dropped everything for me and him?”
He didn’t answer right away and it drew a cold laugh from your lips.
“Exactly, Sirius. Remember who we were sixteen years ago. Remember what was going on. I knew you wouldn’t come so I didn’t call. And, trust me, I’m not asking you now. I’m still not calling. We are doing just fine without you.”
“What is ‘just fine’? Socializing with the Malfoys?” he spat.
“They’re family.”
“Through me. They are family, through me.”
“I’ve always been close with Cissa. She’s just married now.”
“Yeah, sure.”
There’s a beat of silence. You crossed your arms across your chest as you looked briefly in the direction of Hogsmeade.
“Well, I told them I’d meet ‘em in the village so…” you said, preparing yourself for the walk.
“Can I meet him?” Sirius asked softly.
You didn’t answer. Every part of you was screaming to say no, to reiterate that he wasn’t to be a father to your Percy.
“I want to meet my son.”
“Sirius,” you warned.
He took another step toward you and reached for your hand. He had a soft look in his eyes.
“Please, if he’s really my son, I want to meet him. You hid him from me for sixteen years and probably would’ve for more if Remus hadn’t called you out.”
“What would I even introduce you as?” You couldn’t believe that you were even considering this. Too bad you still have that damn soft spot for Sirius.
“His father?”
You laughed. “Fuck no. Not only has he never heard your name, I told him his dad is dead. To introduce you as his not-dead dad in the middle of the school year? No. Plus, there’s no reason to introduce you now for you to never interact with him again.”
“Why would I never interact with him again? He’s my son.”
“No, he’s my son. You’re basically a sperm donor.”
“What if I want to be in his life?”
You pulled your hand out of his and stepped away from him.
“That’s not an option, Sirius.”
“Why the hell not?”
“Because we are fine without you. We have our life and it’s good. I don’t need you coming and ruining it. You’ll just disappear when someone reminds you how vile I actually am.”
“I won’t disappear,” he tried to convince you, taking a step forward every time you took a step back. “Now that I know I have a son, I can’t walk away from this. I won’t.”
You scoff at him. “But you could walk away from me time and time again when we were here? You could walk away from me after a quick reunion shag? You have more loyalty to a boy you haven’t even properly met.”
“I was younger then. Stupid. Give me a chance to stay in your life, his life. I promise I won’t walk away this time.”
He looked at you with pleading eyes; how you love those grey eyes and cherished that Percy had inherited them.
“Introduce me as an old school friend. Please.”
You sighed. You couldn’t say no to him.
“Fine.”
You turned and started walking. Sirius quickly fell in step with you. You walked in silence and you felt like you were sixteen again on a date with Sirius. Except you weren’t kids anymore. You were adults and you had a kid together. A kid you didn’t tell him about.
“You, erm, you look good,” Sirius said after a while.
Your face flushed as it would have years ago. Some things never changed.
“Thanks. You’re not too bad yourself.”
He smiled and nudged your shoulder with his. Then he let curiosity get the best of him.
“So, I, ah, obviously, I know you took the mark. What happened with all that?”
You tensed. It wasn’t your favorite subject to talk about, but you knew why Sirius was asking it. If he was serious about being in your and Percy’s lives, he needed to know what he was walking into. You pulled up your left sleeve to reveal the various tattoos that covered the burned skin.
“I took care of it. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I was out. I wasn’t going to put my kid in the way of a war so I went east. Made a name for myself in the curse breaker industry.”
Sirius nodded. “I fought. Looked for you behind every mask, hoping I would never find you. I didn’t want to see you dead or going to Azkaban.”
“So, erm, what do you do now? Got a job?”
“Raise Harry and help Remus with whatever project he’s working on. Got that Black fortune to fund everything else.”
“Course you do,” you said.
Silence fell over you as you continued down the path. You didn’t know what else to say to Sirius at the moment. You didn’t know if you should be telling him all about Percy and everything you’ve told the boy about him. You decided to see how things played out between the boys before rehashing your entire life to Sirius. Leaves rustled in the wind as the path became more inclined, a signal you were almost at Hogsmeade.
“Where does… where does this leave us?” Sirius asked as you reached the entrance to the village.
“What do you mean?”
“Us. You and me.”
“Us…”
“I meant when I said I want to be in your life, in Percy’s. So, I was thinking I’d like to give us another chance. Maybe we’ll get it right this time.”
You pressed your lips together as you studied Sirius’ face. His offer sounded genuine.
“We’ll see how this goes,” you answer, gesturing to the Three Broomsticks. “Meet your son. Play nice with the Malfoys. And we can talk about it later.”

Top 10 Most “Kudos-ed” (Completed) Fics on AO3 of 2024:
BLOODY, SLUTTY, AND PATHETIC by WhatMurdah - E, 21 chapters, Words: 195,969 - “In my humble opinion there’s only three things that men should be and that is bloody, slutty, and pathetic.” And, on a good day, Draco Malfoy can be all three. When war heroine Hermione Granger and Azkaban-tattooed war criminal Draco Malfoy are forced to wed as part of Shacklebolt’s controversial Reconciliation Act, they openly fight the match and each other—their public brawls breathlessly reported by the press. Secretly, a deeply traumatized Draco delights in Hermione’s attention and pines for a real marriage with her—even as her forced proximity to the Black family magic irritates the cursed scar Bellatrix left on her arm, reminding her why she can never truly trust or forgive him. Then Hermione discovers that Draco’s blood will soothe the scar . . . and Draco is willing to trade his blood for her body. (With post-war blood purity politics, black market potioneers, Pansy Parkinson’s career advice, the Malfoys blackmailing Hermione’s Wizengamot opposition, BDE Neville Longbottom hunting Death Eaters, a slutty Theo Nott serving as Draco’s right-hand man, and Crookshanks loose in Malfoy Manor.)
The Gallows by gillianeliza - E, 23 chapters, Words: 47,332 - Five years after the Battle of Hogwarts the Ministry of Magic has one more wizard to bring to trial: Draco Malfoy. However, it's not a trial they're after, it's a spectacle to celebrate the end of the Death Eater regime with the execution of their final prisoner. When Hermione realizes their plan, she halts the trial and invokes The Gallows Law — an ancient law that pardons any pureblood male without an heir if a witch will marry him. What Hermione isn't ready for is the reality of bonding a broken, shell of a wizard and her new life as she moves into Malfoy Manor as the new Lady Malfoy.
Meet Me In Dreamland by sinflower81 - E, 39 chapters, Words: 229,631 - If there’s one thing Hermione Granger is good at, it’s using magic to fix her problems. And this time, her problem is sex. Luckily, she has the perfect solution: a locket enchanted with the Patented Daydream Charm. Whenever she opens it, she’ll find herself in Dreamland, where she can live out all her filthiest fantasies risk-free. The magic is a bit tricky, though. For some reason, Malfoy keeps showing up there with her. Thank goodness it’s only an illusion—if that was really him, she would never live it down. WEALTHY, WITTY, WITCHES | D.M
Part 1: Crazy Rich... Wizards? Part 2: Wands, Wizards, And Wicked Traditions Part 3: Wealthy, Witty, Witches

Summary: After barely surviving a disastrous dinner with your wizard boyfriend’s parents, you’re forced to endure yet another nightmare—this time, with his ex.
wc: 2.9k
cw: for tha sake of the story astoria is younger by a year, astoria is a fake bitch (sorry to all the astoria lovers), jealous astoria, Druella Black is also perfectly alive in this.
A/N: Omg!! We are almost at the wedding part!!!
⊱ ─── ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ ─── ⊰
This was torture.
You were now zoning out as a group of rich, classy girls sat beside you at a long black-and-gold dining table, talking about clothes, shopping, men, and something called a beautifying charm.
You only met her once, but Daphne had already insisted on inviting you to her bachelorette party. In her own words:
"I know we just met, but I really like you and I’ll be thrilled if you come to my bachelorette party in two days! It’s going to be so much fun, and you’ll get to meet all the other amazing girls who’ll be in my wedding!"
So now, here you were—sitting in a grand dining room that could almost be mistaken for a great hall. Pillars of gold adorned the dark oak walls, and you had no doubt those blocks of gold were real. The golden columns gleamed against the marble floor, which mirrored the massive chandelier hanging above the long dining table.
You found yourself surrounded by elegant women who all weirdly looked the same. You swore that half of the girls in this room has their hair up in a bun, wearing a nude lipstick shade, and their dresses colored black, white, and beige.
You wore one of the dresses Draco had bought you in Diagon Alley—a long black pleated skirt and a sleeveless dark green scoop-neck top, paired with matching dark green slingback heels. You stood out like a sore thumb.
Gosh this was dreadful.
"Hi! Y/N right? Draco's girlfriend." you look at the girl who suddenly sat on the empty seat beside you. She had porcelain skin, wavy dark brown hair that's up to her waist, and eyes that match the color.
"Yup that's me!" you smiled at her, your body fully facing her now.
"I'm Astoria! Astoria Greengrass" she said, sticking put her hand hoping for you to shake it. She had this huge smile that's obviously forced, her perfect white teeth glimmering.
"Greengrass? Are you related to Daphne?" you questioned, head titling ever so slightly. Then your hand finally shook hers.
She pulled her hand away and her smile got bigger, grinning ear to ear. "Yes I am! I'm younger by a year."
"But enough about me. I want to get to know you!" she exclaimed, doing a tiny clap of excitement. "How long have you been with Draco?"
You smiled, polite and composed, keeping your posture relaxed. even with the growing tension. “Two years,” you said, and you noticed immediately how Astoria’s eyebrows lifted a little too high.
“Two years?” she echoed, her tone light and questioning, the kind of disbelieving surprise someone uses when they’re hoping they’ve misheard you.
“Wow, that’s… longer than I thought,” she added with a short forced laugh, her hand resting on the tablecloth with practiced grace as she leaned just slightly closer.
You stayed still, your smile steady. “Yeah.”
She gave another sharp little nod, her perfectly styled hair barely shifting. “That’s just… funny,” she said, voice softening into something more intimate, more insidious.
“Because Draco and I dated for nearly two years too. Back before the war, of course. We were… very close,” she added with a meaningful glance, as if you hadn’t quite registered her significance yet.
You didn’t flinch, but something cold curled in your stomach. “I didn’t know.”
She beamed at you like it was a compliment. “Oh, everyone assumed we’d end up together. Our families were thrilled. It all made sense—pureblood lineages, similar upbringings, same social circles. You know how it is.”
You offered a gentle shrug. “Things change.”
She laughed lightly, but there was a strain to it now, something tightening around the edges. “Clearly,” she said, eyes sharp. “So, how did you and Draco meet then? Was it at some function, a fancy gala, or…?”
“No,” you said, your smile pulling wider, warmer, realer. “We met at a park in Muggle London. My Labrador knocked him flat on his back—spilled his coffee, then my dog started to lick his face. Total disaster, honestly.”
Astoria blinked at you, her expression faltering ever so slightly. “Oh.”
“I bought him a new coffee. We talked for hours. It just… happened.”
There was a pause where she seemed to recover, blinking too slowly, too carefully. Then she laughed again, airy and a touch too high. “How… quaint.”
“It was,” you said simply.
She looked away, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear, then turned back toward you with a more curious glint in her eyes. “So how are things going with his parents?” she asked, voice overly casual, like she was trying not to sound too interested when she very clearly was. “I mean, you being a Muggle and all… that must be a bit complicated, right?”
You paused for just a second, and it was enough.
Her smile widened just slightly, as if your hesitation had confirmed whatever she was hoping for.
“It’s… complicated,” you admitted, choosing your words with care.
“Complicated,” she repeated slowly, savoring the word. “That’s understandable. Draco was always so close with his family. Especially Lucius.”
“Narcissa has been civil,” you said, carefully measured. “Polite, distant, but not unkind. I think… she’s trying. In her own way.”
Astoria nodded knowingly. “That sounds like her. And Lucius?”
“He won’t speak to me,” you replied with a soft shrug, like it didn’t sting, even though it did. “He made it clear from the beginning that he doesn’t approve, and he hasn’t changed his mind.”
Astoria looked almost pleased, though she masked it poorly. “That must be hard for Draco,” she said, her voice faking sympathy. “I remember how much their opinion used to matter to him—he used to talk to me about it all the time. Lucius adored me, you know.”
You gave her a look that was calm, collected, unreadable. “Draco makes his own choices now.”
“Still,” she said, glancing down at her manicured nails, “it’s not easy, trying to convince a family like them that you belong.”
“Draco never made me feel like I had to convince anyone,” you said simply, and her smile faltered for the first time.
She took another sip of her drink, eyes scanning the room like she was bored of the conversation already, before leaning in again, voice lowering discreetly. “So… does he still get nightmares? He used to wake up reaching for me, like he was terrified I’d disappear. It was… heartbreaking.”
You forced a smile. “He sleeps peacefully now.”
Her lips parted, caught slightly off guard.
You looked at her with a steady gaze. “I guess he’s finally where he’s supposed to be.”
The silence that followed was stiff, heavy with unspoken irritation. Astoria’s expression wavered between disbelief and dissatisfaction, as though she couldn’t quite decide whether she wanted to continue playing the 'nice' ex or rip off the mask entirely.
She exhaled through her nose, straightening her back. “So tell me,” she said after a beat, voice laced with derision hidden under feigned curiosity, “does he even understand Muggle things yet? Like… telly? Or whatever that little card is that opens doors.”
“You mean a keycard?” you asked, smiling politely.
She waved her hand as if the difference didn’t matter. “Yes, those.”
“He’s learning,” you replied, tone light. “He likes television. Got really into one of those long series. Refused to let me skip the theme song. Drives like a menace, though.”
She blinked again, thrown off by your directness.
The air around her fumed with quiet, unspoken frustration. But before she could say another word, Daphne’s voice rang from the other end of the table, cheerful and commanding.
“Astoria! Come here for a second!”
Astoria glanced at you one last time—half glare, half forced smile—before standing in one smooth motion, brushing invisible creases from her skirt, posture as perfect as ever.
As she turned to walk away, you caught her muttering something under her breath that sounded suspiciously like, “Two years with a Muggle.”
You just lifted your water glass and took a sip, hiding your grin behind the rim as you watched her retreat across the glittering dining hall.
This was definitely not the night you’d imagined—but at least now, it was a little more fun.
⸻
“Sooooo, did you ever plan on introducing me to Astoria?” you said cheekily, eyes squinting, mouth in a dramatic frown as you dropped your purse onto the ornate armchair near the fireplace.
Draco looked up from where he was loosening his cufflinks, perched on the velvet settee in his bedroom at Malfoy Manor. He blinked, as if the name took a second to register. Then his brows lifted ever so slightly.
“Astoria?” he echoed slowly.
You folded your arms, waiting.
Draco sighed and leaned back, the corners of his mouth twitching. “I was hoping I wouldn’t have to.”
You narrowed your eyes. “So you did plan on keeping her a secret forever, then?”
“I wasn’t keeping her a secret,” he said, sitting up straighter, running a hand through his hair. “It just… didn’t seem important. That was ages ago. Hogwarts-era. Practically a different life.”
“She told me you used to wake up reaching for her in your sleep,” you said, arching a brow. “That doesn't exactly scream 'unimportant.’”
Draco groaned and stood, pacing a few steps before stopping in front of you. “That girl thrives on drama. She always has. She wants to remind everyone of what could’ve been, just to feel like she’s still relevant in my life. But she’s not.”
You watched him closely, studying the tired set of his jaw, the way his shoulders tensed as if he expected you to press harder. So you softened—just a little.
“She was testing me,” you said quietly. “She wanted me to feel small. Like I didn’t belong.”
His face darkened at once. “Did she say something to you?”
“Not directly,” you said with a light shrug. “She didn’t have to.”
Draco cursed under his breath and turned away, fists clenching briefly at his sides. “I should’ve warned you. I didn’t think you’d be ambushed like that.”
“I handled it,” you said simply, and when he looked at you again, your expression was steady.
That made his lip quirk. “Of course you did.”
You stepped closer, your voice dipping. “But it’s hard enough already with your father pretending I don’t exist. I didn’t need an ex-girlfriend parading around like she’s still the future Mrs. Malfoy.”
Draco reached for your hand, grounding you both. “She’s not,” he said firmly. “You are.”
Your eyes widened slightly, and his grip tightened, just enough to anchor you.
“I mean it,” he went on, quieter now. “I didn’t choose her. I chose you. I keep choosing you. Even when it’s hard. Even when they don’t approve."
You swallowed hard, your throat tight.
“I know,” you said after a beat. “I just needed to hear you say it.”
He pulled you into his arms, his chin resting lightly atop your head.
“She hates that I’m happy,” he murmured into your hair. “That’s all this is. She thought she could shake you.”
You smirked against his chest. “I think I shook her.”
Draco let out a low laugh. “I don’t doubt it.”
You leaned back slightly to look at him. “Next time, I want a heads up before I walk into a social trap filled with pureblood peacocks and their horrifyingly symmetrical faces.”
“Deal,” he said, brushing your hair behind your ear. “Though I have to say… you looked like you were enjoying yourself near the end.”
You gave him a wicked grin. “Just a little. Her eye twitch was a highlight.”
“She twitched?” Draco’s smile split wider. “I’m so proud of you.”
You rolled your eyes but laughed anyway, resting your forehead against his. “You owe me dinner. Something greasy. Muggle-style.”
“Anything,” he promised.
And for a moment, the rest of it—all the whispers, the stares, the bloodlines, the judgment—faded into nothing.
Because he chose you.
And he always would.
⸻
The morning light filtered into the drawing room, catching on the carved edges of the mantel and the polished floors of Malfoy Manor. You were curled in an armchair near the tall windows, Draco’s oversized shirt hanging off your frame, tea warm in your hands. The manor was quiet, unusually so, and for a moment, you let yourself enjoy the illusion of peace.
That is, until the echo of sharp heels clicked purposefully down the corridor.
Draco tensed before the door even opened, halfway through buttoning his shirt. “She’s early,” he muttered under his breath, glancing toward the hallway like he could delay her arrival by sheer force of will.
You straightened a little. “Who’s early?”
He didn’t get the chance to answer. The door swung open with barely a sound, and in swept a woman who carried herself like the room belonged to her—which, knowing this family, it probably once had. Regal and composed, dressed in deep lavender robes embroidered with constellations in silver thread, she had the unmistakable look of someone who had never once asked permission to speak.
Her sharp eyes scanned the room before they settled on you, expression unreadable.
“Draco,” she said smoothly, voice like velvet over ice. “You didn’t tell me your little guest was so charming.”
You stood instinctively, setting your tea aside, uncertain whether to curtsy, shake her hand, or just vanish through the floor.
Draco managed a stiff, “Good morning, Grandmother,” the edge of tension in his voice making your spine straighten further.
Druella Black. Even her name sounded like it belonged in a history book, one with bloodstains on the pages.
“It’s lovely to meet you,” you said, trying for polite but steady. “I didn’t know you’d be joining us.”
“I rarely announce myself,” she replied, sweeping into the room without waiting for an invitation. “That’s half the point.”
Without asking, she settled into the armchair across from you, her posture perfect, hands folded over one knee. Her gaze flicked over you again, like she was peeling back every layer of your thoughts.
“You have a good presence,” she said after a pause, eyes narrowed slightly in thought. “You hold your space well. That’s rare these days. Most girls fidget. Shrink. Apologize for existing.”
You gave a careful smile, sensing a trap and stepping around it. “Being underestimated has its advantages. People rarely guard themselves when they think you’re not a threat.”
Her lips quirked faintly, almost like approval. “Indeed.”
“I watched you at the party yesterday,” she continued, reaching for the cup of tea that had just appeared beside her—house-elves always knew when she arrived. “You didn’t flinch. Not even when Astoria tried to bait you.”
“She wasn’t exactly subtle,” you replied, tone dry.
“No, she never was. Pity. I had such high hopes for her when she was little. But she grew up soft. Whiny.”
You raised a brow. “Entitled.”
Druella actually chuckled at that, a soft, dangerous sound. “I like you. Most girls in this world either stay silent to keep the peace or snarl to prove a point. You’ve done neither.”
You tilted your head, curious. “What do you think that says about me?”
“That you think before you speak. That you aren’t desperate for approval. That you have a spine,” she added, her voice almost pleased. “Which is more than I can say for most of the society girls who’ve wandered through these halls.”
You didn’t reply right away, unsure how much to let show.
“I don’t trust easily,” she said then, as if sensing your hesitation. “But I know what I see. And I see that my grandson looks at you the way Lucius looked at Narcissa.”
That made your breath catch. Druella’s gaze didn’t waver.
“Love,” she said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
To your surprise, you and Druella ended up talking for nearly an hour. Just the two of you, with Draco excusing himself to give her space—or perhaps bracing himself for disaster.
But it never came. Instead, you spoke about everything from magical theory to literature, to the ancient portraits lining the corridor walls, some of which she personally remembered posing for. She asked about your opinions, challenged your logic, and occasionally smirked when you held your own.
She may have been the only one in Draco’s family who seemed genuinely happy to meet you.
When she finally rose to leave, she took your arm without ceremony, letting you walk her to the door in a silence that felt earned rather than forced. Just before she stepped outside, she gave your wrist a light squeeze.
“You’ll do,” she said, her voice soft but certain.
You watched her disappear down the drive, her figure shrinking into the sunlit morning until it vanished.
When you returned to the drawing room, Draco was still seated where you’d left him, watching the doorway like he was trying to decide whether or not the house had burned down in his absence.
“She liked you,” he said slowly, voice full of something halfway between awe and confusion.
You smiled faintly, settling back into your seat. “Is that so shocking?”
He blinked. “You talked to her. For an hour.”
“She didn’t hex me,” you pointed out.
“She once hexed a Ministry official for standing too close to her peacocks.”
You snorted. “Then I’m making progress.”
Draco leaned back, eyes narrowed as he watched you. “She never likes anyone. She barely tolerates Mother. I thought she’d hate you. I thought—” He broke off, running a hand through his hair. “I thought she’d say something horrible.”
“She didn’t ask questions. She just talked to me like—like a person.”
“She must be slipping,” he murmured, but there was a note of reluctant amusement in his voice.
You smiled into your tea. “Maybe I’m just irresistible.”
He smirked. “I already knew that.”
Neither of you knew, of course, that there was still one thing Druella hadn’t discovered—something that, for now, remained quietly unspoken.

All Time Favorite Drarry Fics
Because it's 2025 and I'm not over Drarry and people deserve recs.
My google doc keeping track of my favorite drarry fics is 13 pages so for this post I'm just shouting out my absolute favorites. Category-specific recs will come at a later date. Enjoy!
~
Mind's Eye: (by Galadriell) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6675009/1/Mind-s-Eye
After five years of silence in a mental institution, Harry speaks. "Malfoy," he murmurs. Why would he speak the name of his Slytherin counterpart? So begins the treatment with Draco in the forefront of it all.
Okay okay okay real talk- this is my favorite Drarry fic of all time. It’s basically about what would happen if the war had taken a bigger toll on Harry’s mental health and he ended up shutting down. He’s been living at the hospital for years in a zombie-like state. His friends visit (I especially like when Rose Granger-Weasley stops by), but still nothing’s yet to snap him out of his ‘funk’ where he hasn’t spoken to anyone or even acknowledged the presence of another person standing right in front of him in years. Mute and unresponsive, alone yet not alone, his progress is going nowhere... that is, until his doctors decide to try triggering him back to reality by taking a new approach and doing something that should definitely draw a reaction out of him: bringing back his old school rival. Draco’s forced to visit and his behavior is just so realistic to how someone in his situation would react. The story is essentially about him bringing Harry back to life and somewhere in the process they fall in love.
Excerpt from one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 4)
Draco was bored out of his mind. He was staring at the wall with Harry. “I really don’t understand what you find so exciting about watching white walls, Potter. At least add some color to it,” he muttered, flicking his wand. The white turned to green. “Much better,” he said. “Mother made me learn that spell last week because she’s redecorating. Which really means that I’m doing all the grunt work.”
Harry tilted his head towards Draco, narrowing his eyes that were still searching the wall. Draco didn’t notice as he was brushing invisible lint from his slacks. Harry’s gaze flicked from the seam of the wall and the ceiling to the dark wood floors where the wall ended. He got up unsteadily. Draco tsked, getting up with him. “What are you doing?” he asked, shaking his humb legs. Harry shuffled towards the wall, stopping a meter from it and sitting down again. Draco ran his eyes over the wall. “You like green?” he murmured, kneeling beside Harry. “I should probably get Lily.” He was too lazy to get up again. “Or I could just keep you entertained.” He waved his wand at the wall again, coloring it red.
Harry blinked at the new paint. He reached out hesitantly, brushing his fingertips on the wall. “There’s still life in you yet,” Draco said, smiling. He changed the color to blue. Harry scooted forward, pressing his palm against the blue. “Ugh, you’re determined to make me get up again, aren’t you?” Draco complained, standing upright and stretching. “Don’t do anything until I get back,” he added, walking to the door and sounding the charm for the Apprentice.
Lily arrived in the corridor a minute later, looking immensely concerned. “He’s fine,” Draco said before Lily could freak out. She was looking unconvinced as she walked into the room after Draco. She blinked at the blue wall, staggering back.
“What did you do?” she asked accusingly. Draco huffed, pointing at Harry. Lily seemed to have noticed just then. “Oh...” she breathed. The man was moving his head along the wall, scanning the entire expanse of blue that he had discovered. “Wow.”
“You always assume the worst of me,” Draco groused. “You and Mother would get along quite well.”
Temptation on the warfront: (by alizarincrimson) https://archiveofourown.org/works/4373594/chapters/9926705
Draco Malfoy is forced into hiding with the Golden Trio and dragged into their search for horcruxes. What ensues is a journey of redemption, unexpected friendships and an unwanted, turbulent romance with Harry Potter. Warnings for swearing, sexual content, and dark themes.
I know I said the last fic was my favorite Drarry fanfiction of all time but this is one of the BEST fanfics of all time! That may sound dramatic, but I promise you, as someone who’s an irl avid reader, has read hundreds (if not thousands) of fanfictions, and is a literal editor for actual real-life books, this is one of the best things I’ve ever read PERIOD. In my head it’s tied with Hollow Edge (an Elu/Skam France fanfic) for the best fanfiction of all time to ever exist and that ever will exist ever ever ohmygoditsjustsogood. Really keep that in mind by the way... one of the top two fanfictions of all time (in my opinion) is in THIS fandom, meaning you have actual reason to read it you lucky duck! In this, Draco ends up going with the Golden Trio on their hunt for the horcruxes. It’s a long fic and EXTREMELY slow burn, but oh my god is it worth it! It’s sad, it’s heartwarming, it’s enlightening, it’s romantic, and it’s hot as fuck (jesus). Just a warning for anyone who’s sensitive: I do think I need to say that as someone who almost never cries, let alone gets triggered to by a piece of fictional media, this is one of the only things I’ve read that’s ever made me cry. So yes, it’s a tear-jerker. But definitely not the whole thing! It’s not a SAD fic, it just has sad parts, as any good (and long) story tends to. But even it actually drawing a reaction that strong out of a reader just further proves how powerful and amazing this fic is. For your own sake, read it!!! And if you're still not convinced, consider yourself triple dog dared.
Excerpt from one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 29)
“Draco, listen to me - you have to -”
“I’m not leaving you!” Draco says it through his teeth, his steely eyes determined and bright, and his cheeks flushed, but his words are as good as a confession. And Harry loves him, god, he loves him so much -
“I love you,” it bursts out, as natural as breathing, and Harry never wants to take it back. Draco’s eyes widen, and his fury flees from him as quickly as it came. Harry says it again because it’s the truth , and because Draco needs to believe it. “I love you Draco, and I swear I’ll come and I’ll find you, after all this is over - I promise you -”
Draco definitely moves first this time, and his lips taste like smoke and sweat and something deliciously unyielding as they part beneath Harry’s. Harry pours everything he has into the kiss, gives Draco everything he wants him to remember, and everything Harry wants to remember for himself.
Draco is first to pull back as well, his hands uncurling from Harry’s shirt as he catches his breath and rasps, “see you soon... Harry.”
And then he’s standing, his lips tugging up at one side, and he looks so invigorated that in the next second he’s wearing a full-blown grin that makes Harry feel warm in all of the right places. “See you soon, Draco.”
They share one last look of longing, before Draco takes a step back and disappears around the corner, Zabini following him without a word.
Ron clears his throat. “That was one of the weirdest fucking things I’ve ever seen.”
There’s a noise that sounds suspiciously like Hermione giving Ron’s arm a slap, and Harry’s lips twitch into a smile.
Right hand red: (by lumosed_quill) https://archiveofourown.org/works/3178065/chapters/6903855
Harry felt Malfoy's breath on his lips as they came together over the bottle, hands firmly planted on the floor as though they each needed their familiar soil, refusing to cross into enemy territory. Except that Malfoy no longer felt like his enemy. Malfoy felt inevitable.
This was the first fic I read that included a Drarry/Jilly-patronus situation and let me tell you it does not disappoint. Eighth year. Party games (spin the bottle, twister, other things that could result in feelings both emotional and sexy-times physical). Harry owns a car. Artwork. Harry tutoring Draco. Amazingness. It’s beautiful, it’s hot, it’s romantic, it’s sweet. I’m not doing a good enough job at describing it because I don’t even know where to start. I can picture everything when I read it - I feel like I’m there in the moment with them feeling their emotions and touching their surroundings. It’s just so lovely.
Excerpt from one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 3)
“EXPECTO PATRONUM!”
The thing leapt from his wand, huge and brilliant. It’s four legs spindly and fast, it’s eyes large.
It’s antlers, majestic.
It was a stag.
It was a stag, just like Harry’s.
Oh my God...
For a moment, Harry thought Draco was going to be alright. He looked a little faint, but that was to be expected. Harry gave him a reassuring smile. Seeing it, Draco’s own face fell. Happiness wore down to disbelief, to something like disgust. To rage.
“What have you done to me?” Draco wailed. “What have you...?” The Patronus diminished.
Draco shoved his wand away, threw down his broom, and ran.
Salt on the western wind: (by Saras_Girl) https://archiveofourown.org/works/879835
When the war isn’t quite as over as it first appears, a guilt-ridden Harry is sent to a mysterious safe-house. Among sandwiches, insomnia, and Mills & Boon, he discovers something quite unexpected.
Homeward Bound: (by Cheryl Dyson) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8684511/1/Homeward-Bound
Harry catches the Knight Bus one evening when other travel choices are unfeasible. When he discovers Draco Malfoy employed as the Conductor, he decides Malfoy is up to something because Malfoy is always up to something. His suspicion has nothing to do with the way Malfoy fills out the tailored lines of his purple uniform. Nothing at all.
Dreaming of You: (by Laurasauras) https://archiveofourown.org/works/12789237/chapters/29185539
After stealing the locket, Ron and Hermione get their act together, meaning that Harry spends a lot of time trying to give them space. When the Horcrux takes shape of his school enemy, Draco Malfoy, in order to torture him, Harry can't help but rise to his taunts, like he always has. But the Horcrux can read Harry's mind, as it's basing it's model of Malfoy on him, and so it knows that Harry's feelings towards Malfoy haven't always been as platonically hatey as they should have been. And Harry finds out that there's more than one way to torment someone.
Bond: (by Anna Fugazzi) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2493456/1/Bond
Yet another one of those Harry And Draco Are Forced To Be Together By Something Beyond Their Control And Then Stuff Happens Leading To Two Wuv stories.
This fanficiton is phenomenal. It's funny, the characters feel so real to how if this bizarre situation actually happened to teenagers in a magical world, here's how they'd react. It's so so so so so so so hot. It's really interesting just mystery and magic wise - world building and narrative is VERY well done. But my favorite piece about it is how natural it feels. Drarry are bonded, so they're forced together. What does that look like? It looks like silencing charms for when their friends come over and they want to hang out without having to listen to a group of people they don't like goofing and gaffing. It looks like going through a sheet of therapist-perscribed get to know you questions and doing things like saying each others' names out loud for the first time, eating sandwhiches together, missing classes from the condition and having to spend even MORE time together. Lucius Malfoy is so well done. I'm rambling (4am alert) but it's good. It's really really good. I reread it an absurd amount.
Oxytocin: (by: WouldItWere) https://archiveofourown.org/works/23636362/chapters/88796452
Draco Malfoy cannot sleep. If he keeps going like this, he will go mad, or die, or both. For some reason, though, he can sleep whenever Harry Potter is with him. And Harry Potter is nothing if not a helper to those in need.
Excerpt from one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 3)
He wasn’t even looking at Draco. He was walking over to Draco’s bed and—what on earth?—sitting down on it.
Draco blinked. “What are you doing?”
“Sitting. Come on, you should try it.”
“I know what sitting feels like, Potter.”
“Then you’ll know it’s very enjoyable. Come on.”
Excerpt from one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 6)
“You held him?”
“It made sense in the moment.” He cringed.
“Do you usually touch him like that?”
“Let’s not talk about this, Hermione.”
“You do, don’t you?”
"Please stop."
"Harry."
“I—yes, okay, fine. I hold him every night and stroke his skin and tell him everything is going to be okay. There. Are you happy?”
She stared at him. A long pause stretched between them. Then, “I don’t know. Are you happy?”
Excerpt from [another] one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 14)
“Okay. You can go back to staring at him in silence now.”
His relief was so instant that he got halfway to turning back toward Potter, before he realised this might not, in fact, be the wisest reaction to her words. He drew himself up and scoffed offendedly instead. “I was not staring at him.”
“Oh, hush. Of all the hills to die on, Draco, that is not the one.”
Excerpt from [yet another] one of my favorite scenes: (chapter 30)
“Draco” had become synonymous with “I love you” in his head.
12 Days of What The Fuck: (by bixgirl1) https://archiveofourown.org/works/16659685
When Potter starts paying unusual amounts of attention to Draco as the holidays draw nearer, Draco can’t figure out where it’s coming grom - possibly because he’s gone stupid from all the fantastic sex. But what happens when he finds out that there may be another motive behind Potter’s sudden interest?
Or: A fic in which Potter is hotter than Draco ever let himself admit, Draco didn’t fill out that fucking form, and Pany may or may not lose all of her hair.
This. Fic. Is. So. Funny. And. Charismatic. Basically, Hogwarts does a secret santa thing. Draco’s doesn’t plan on participating, but Pansy and Blaise fill out a wishlist for him where each present request involves something Harry-related (touch his hair, have him fall in love with him, see him naked in the showers again cause he can’t stop thinking about last time, etc). Little did anyone know Draco’s gifter would be more than complicit. Also for some extra incentive: there is in fact a sex scene where they wear each others’ house ties and nothing else.

HD war setting fic recs : more than 30k words
Here are a few drarry wartime fic recs that are more than 30k words. Posted in alphabetical order, as always. Part 1 (recs with less than 30k) can be found here.
9 ½ Days by @magpiefngrl [21k]
After the events at the Manor, Harry and Draco find themselves stranded in the countryside with a broken wand and Death Eaters on their tail. This is the story of an uneasy truce, featuring faerie forests, seaside caves, Romani camps, kind old ladies, and a shared bed in an attic. Or how two boys fell in love in the midst of a bloody coup.
All the Answers by Maxine [195k] *Incomplete
Finding himself saddled with Draco Malfoy is just about the last thing Harry expected to happen this year. Too bad ignoring the git is something he’s never been able to do. Horcruxes, war, and teenage hormones – no one ever said this would be easy! 7th year fic. Harry/Draco main pairing…eventually.
Allegiance and Sedition by SilentAuror [98k]
The war is in its fifth year, and Harry finds himself caught up in the confusion of friend versus enemy, spy versus traitor.
Black, in the Smothering Dark by @lol-zeitgeistic [101k]
Harry Potter is rescued from the Dursleys and spends the summer with his god…father? This is the prequel to The Hush of War. The Hush of War by @lol-zeitgeistic [351k] Voldemort has made a bargain with Harry to stop killing muggles and muggle-borns (when at all possible, of course) in exchange for Harry’s cooperation. While Harry thinks he’s using the time to find a way to defeat the Dark Lord, he will realize that Voldemort is always one step ahead, and so long as he isn’t killing anyone…what’s the big deal? He has bigger things to worry about now, anyway. Includes dementors, pureblood culture, the prophecy, what exactly happened with Lily’s sacrifice, magical breakthroughs, children Death Eaters, and portraits of family. Final pairing: H/D. Sequel to Black, in the Smothering Dark.
Double Edged Sword by @romaine2424 [554k]
Harry thinks his life has been planned out, but the night he comes of age changes everything. Now there are decisions to be made and a path to be chosen, and the choices before him will change the lives of everyone he knows. But when destiny calls, Harry finds himself ready to listen. This is an epic story of the love between Harry and Draco. Join them as they journey through their life together, through the good times and the bad, facing obstacles both external and internal, and see how they come to be who they were meant to be. (This story was written after HBP.)
Earthbound Spook by cest_what [57k]
Two months after Draco Malfoy was reported dead, Harry and Ron found him tangled in Strangler Ivy on the grounds of Hogwarts.
Eclipse by Mijan [287k]
“You’re dead, Potter… I’m going to make you pay…” Draco swore his revenge on Harry for Lucius’s imprisonment, and Harry all but laughed at him. But Draco is planning more than schoolyard pranks this time. The old rivalry turns deadly when Draco abducts Harry for Voldemort. It’s the perfect plan, guaranteeing revenge, power, and prestige, all in one blow. But when Draco’s world turns upside down, the fight to save himself and Harry begins, and the battle will take them both through hell and back. If they come back.
Faerie Felicities by @quackquackcey [79k]
Draco dies and wakes up to the emerald drapes of the Slytherin dormitory at the end of 5th year. Thus ensues new possibilities, new choices, a new life, and a new romance(?) Featuring fluffy shenanigans, lots of baking, and a hopefully not-so-bad war (fingers crossed). Or in other words, a somewhat Christmassy canon rewrite fic.
Finite Incantatum by Alysian Fields [153k]
What should have happened after ‘Half Blood Prince’! It’s the autumn after Dumbledore’s death, the Death Eaters are steadily gaining power, and Harry and his friends are desperate to find the remaining Horcruxes. But then Draco Malfoy arrives at Grimmauld Place, traumatised, starved and drained of all his magical ability. It falls to Harry to show the Slytherin how to adapt to his new way of life, never guessing that Draco has a few things to teach him in return.
Hermione Granger’s Hogwarts Crammer for Delinquents on the Run by @waspabi [93k]
‘You’re a wizard, Harry’ is easier to hear from a half-giant when you’re eleven, rather than from some kids on a tube platform when you’re seventeen and late for work.
Men Who Love Dragons Too Much by @fencer-x [479k]
[Extensive re-telling of Deathly Hallows] As in Half-blood Prince, Draco is charged by Voldemort with killing Dumbledore—only instead of trying to do his best with the challenge, he realizes he’s been set a futile task and instead focuses on finding a way to save both himself and his parents. He eventually decides to spend his sixth year studying Animagecraft, convinced it’s his best shot at escaping the impossible situation he’s found himself in. But just his luck, his Animagus form turns out to be a dragon, and a rather randy juvenile at that, intent on finding its mate: one Harry James Potter.
On the Last Day of Our World by Sansa [84k]
During a detention, Harry and Draco get locked in a strange room together overnight. When they escape the next morning, they discover they are alone. Love, angst and adventure abound as they struggle to survive in an empty world.
Open Fire by @slytherco [38k]
Once upon a time, in a Death Eater-occupied Britain… A story about the Second Wizarding War, still going on ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts. While the Light Side struggles to keep evil at bay, those who wish to rid the world of Mixed-Blood Wix roam free, growing in power and persistent in their cruelty. In the meantime, in an undisclosed location, a group of rogue partisans works tirelessly, doing one thing, and one thing only: killing Death Eaters. Things complicate when during one of their raids, the Pack captures an old acquaintance who turns out to be a double agent. He can help them change the course of the War but change isn’t something their leader takes in stride, both on the front and in his heart. An AU based on the movie “Inglourious Basterds”
Silenced by the Night by @parkkate [55k]
After a spell goes horribly wrong, Harry has to deal with the loss of his eyesight. It’s such terrible timing, too, because how is he supposed to find out what Malfoy has been up to in the Room of Requirement? It’s not like he can ask the git, not only because it’s Malfoy, but also because the Slytherin has suddenly lost his voice. While they’re both trapped in the hospital wing, however, Harry discovers there’s so much he didn’t know about Malfoy, and it’s highly intriguing, but also a bit alarming. Where did all these confusing feelings come from all of a sudden? And what is Harry going to do about them?
Stars As Bright Spots Only by Slytherincess [66k]
Draco Malfoy is struggling to maintain his sanity while carrying out his duties as a sixteen-year-old Death Eater. Draco tries to take solace in Polyjuice, a loyal friend, and an enchanted hand mirror, and finds there’s more than meets the eye in the Mirror of Erised. The events of Half-Blood Prince as interpreted from Draco’s POV.
Temptation on the Warfront by alizarincrims0n [180k]
Draco Malfoy is forced into hiding with the Golden Trio and dragged into their search for horcruxes. What ensues is a journey of redemption, unexpected friendships and an unwanted, turbulent romance with Harry Potter. Warnings for swearing, sexual content, and dark themes.
A Thousand Beautiful Things by geoviki [104k]
Draco Malfoy struggles with changed fortunes, shifted alliances, an ugly war, and an unusual spell, with the help of a concerned professor, an insightful house-elf, and an unexpected Gryffindor friend. Delicate Sound of Thunder by geoviki [61k] Draco Malfoy has always known that happily ever after is only true for fairy tales. When someone threatens to expose his wartime past, he risks his life to protect his secrets, but learns he’s not the only one with something to hide. The sequel to A Thousand Beautiful Things.
Tomorrow by @novembersnowflakes [4k]
For Harry and Draco, the dawn is long in coming. (Prequel to “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow”) Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by @novembersnowflakes [57k] When the long-missing Draco Malfoy turns up at a Ministry field hospital with amnesia, bitter Auror Harry Potter must confront the shadows of their shared past to shed light on a potentially deadly mystery. Daybreak by @novembersnowflakes [5k] Harry Potter, Draco knows, has a habit of keeping his promises. (Coda to “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow”)
A Wave in Windless Water by reposoir [57k]
Harry, Hermione, and Ron work together in Godric’s Hollow to find and destroy Voldemort’s horcruxes. With the unexpected arrival of Draco Malfoy, Harry has the burden of both the horcruxes and new worries weighing him down.
Who Will Guard the Door by musamihi [36k]
The day his father is sentenced, Draco takes the Mark and is given his impossible task. Thorfinn Rowle, assigned to be his mentor, is less interested in assisting him than in satisfying his own appetites. As Draco sinks further into failure and watches the war sweep his parents away from him, he takes refuge in the Manor – a member of the family he never knew he had. But the Manor suffers its own wounds during Lord Voldemort’s residency, and the Chosen One may be the only force that can heal them.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did!

Pregnant Draco Fics
My guilty pleasure, ngl. Tell me what other ships/tropes you’d like to see.
✨ The Guest / 59k / In consequence of an accidental spell, Harry and Draco's five-year-old daughter is sent ten years into the past, where she meets her teenaged parents. Awkwardness ensues.
Draco’s inner monologue is hilarious, I had so much fun reading his pov. Plus, Molly is adorable.
✨ Essence / 87k / In his sixth year, Draco reaches for the only shard of sanity he can find, and puts his desperate faith into magic, the thing that has always set him apart as a pureblood wizard. The magic he unleashes though, is old, powerful, and maybe even more desperate than Draco himself, to leave an essence of life behind.
The little bump isn't what he needs to carry out his mission, but it might be the thing that saves him.
The pregnancy part is a bit confusing ngl, but later it really pays off. I enjoyed the domesticity of this fic immensely, even if Harry is a bit of an asshole at times. (He gets over it.)
✨ Can’t Fight the Moonlight / 16k / "How is it possible that neither of you thought to pay attention to the moon cycle?"
"It was cloudy," Harry said. "And we were drunk. We were very, very drunk."
"This just gets better," Hermione said.
"How could you have been so stupid?"
"In my defence," Harry said, "I had no idea that I should have been paying attention to the moon cycle. I'm not going to lie, I didn't even know men could get pregnant. It's been like, one long life lesson all round."
Or: the one where Harry accidentally gets Draco pregnant, both of them fail to talk about their feelings, and in the end, there's a baby.
✨ Expectant / 62k / After he accidentally gets Malfoy pregnant on a drunken fuck at a club, Harry doesn't anticipate that it'd be just as easy to fall in love with him.
✨ In Our Blood / 37k / Draco is an accomplished pure-blood curse breaker, and Harry is tasked with accompanying him on his latest job-cleaning up the Van Boer mansion, which has been under a devastating fertility curse for seven generations.
✨ What If When He Sees Me (I Like Him And He Knows It?) / 23k / In the post-war haze, Draco and Harry spent a drunken night together. Two months later, Draco learned that he was pregnant. Harry, though, doesn't remember their night together. And so, Draco decided to keep quiet.
He didn't expect to room with Harry at Hogwarts or to grow close to him, but fate had always had a cruel sense of humour when it came to them, hadn't it?
✨ The Slings and Arrows of Outrageous Fortune / 19k / If Astoria refuses to carry their child, Draco will-which is how he finds himself alone, pregnant, and a patient of Healer Potter's.
✨ The Man Who Forgot / 250k / After ten years of marriage, Harry forgets. The more things change, the more Draco Malfoy is still up to something.
You’re gonna SOB with this fic, but it will be worth it, I promise.
✨ A Star Danced / 65k / Draco Malfoy has the world as his feet.
He's twenty-three, first pick Seeker for Puddlemere United, has brilliant friends and a life he adores.
The very last thing Draco wants is an unplanned pregnancy, especially one where the other father just so happens to be Harry Potter.
Life, however, has other plans for him.
✨ If Wishes Were Children / 14k / Harry Potter has tried to move on with his life after Draco Malfoy walked away from him months before with little or no explanation, but it's been hard. Then, on a joyous day at the Burrow, Narcissa
Malfoy makes an unexpected appearance...
✨ Remember When I Loved You / 112k / When Draco Malfoy returns to Hogwarts for eighth year pregnant, vile rumours start spreading like wildfire. The Daily Prophet is full of wild speculations and outrageous assertions. Professor McGonagall seems to know something, and Malfoy's firm refusal to reveal the other father simply adds more fuel to the flames.
Harry Potter is desperately curious about the identity of the father of Malfoy's child. He feels utterly dumbfounded when an ancient paternal bond activates in the Great Hall, proclaiming him as the father. And what's worse, Draco Malfoy looks just as shocked as he feels.
✨ No One Ever Told Me / 25k / Harry marries Draco to get him out of Azkaban.
Things get weird. And confusing. And then weird some more.
✨ Learn to Fly / 25k / January 2004: Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter are two of the finest Seekers in England, deadly rivals and secret lovers.
As far as Draco is concerned, that's how it'll stay forever. He is betrothed to beautiful heiress Astoria Greengrass, and they are due to have a big summer wedding.
Everything changes during a hotly fought Arrows versus Wimbourne game when Draco falls from his broom. To his huge shock, when Draco awakes in St Mungo's, he discovers he is pregnant.
What will Draco do, now everything in his tidily compartmentalised life has to change?
✨ Hexed! / 34k / Harry uses the wrong hex, and Draco suffers the consequences.
✨ Luckiest Baby In The World / / "You're staring," Malfoy says.
"I'm not." Harry is. He just - he can't see it.
"You can't see it yet, Potter." Malfoy sounds miffed.
"I'm not trying to," Harry lies, finally tearing his eyes away; he looks out the window in a desperate attempt to get a single thought into his head that isn't what the fuck.
"Look," Malfoy says. "It's not like I'm telling you that you have to be a part of its life. I only-"
"How do you know it's mine?" The question is out of his mouth before
Harry can think better of it, and he immediately regrets it because of the way Malfoy's face shutters, turns cold.
✨ Once and Never Again / 40k / One morning after with his sworn enemy should be enough to warn Draco that he's going down a dangerous path.
But does he learn? Of course not. Month after month, he finds himself returning to Potter's embrace. What is wrong with him?

1. The Azkaban Letters by @romaine2424 [E, 357k]
Harry and Draco’s lives are headed in two different directions. One is destined for death or glory, while the other is going to Azkaban. Harry needs answers, and he goes to visit his Slytherin nemesis while being held for trial. The meetings in a barren, white cell changes Harry’s life. He learns the beginnings of his rich family history that had been denied him. And that there's much more to fight for than just ridding the world of Voldemort.
2. broken merry go round by cordelai [T, 235k]
When Harry is 10, Death visits, leaving behind memories of what things would've been like without intervention. What will change with this new knowledge? Everything.
3. The Shape of What's Missing by @fergordie [M, 223k]
The summer after losing Sirius, Harry is lonelier than ever. In a moment of impulsivity, he learns things about himself that he isn’t sure how to handle. Back at Hogwarts, Harry has to deal with a new school year–a new potions professor, Occlumency lessons, trying to keep up with friends who seem to forget about him, and, as always, Draco Malfoy. But beneath it all, there’s something else. The feeling that there's something deeply wrong with him. As war looms closer, Harry has to learn what to hold onto and what to let go.
4. Harry Potter and the Masked Murderer by @wayofthemagicbean [M, 201k]
Harry Potter and the Golden Trio find themselves once again at Hogwarts, this time as eighth year students. Harry sneaks around the castle, gets himself and others caught up in dark magic, becomes an animagus, and once again finds himself in the center of another dark wizard's attention - someone who is perhaps more deadly and terrifying than even Lord Voldemort.
5. The Form We Take by UnfortunatelyNonFiction [?, 149k]
In the wake of Voldemort’s defeat, as the lines between justice and vengeance begin to blur across the magical community, Draco returns for his eighth and final year at Hogwarts under the terms and conditions of his probation. With nothing left but determination and a sneer, Draco resolves to pass his NEWTs and make a future for himself that he’ll never be ashamed of. Then students start taking their own revenge, the Weasel is set to go off at any moment, and an angry, haunted Potter begins stalking him again. In all of the madness of nightmares and dueling rooms, auras and side effects, Patronus charms and starry lights, Draco finally learns that the only thing more difficult than facing who you’ve become, is becoming who you are.
6. In Your Dreams by JStevens [M, 139k]
Harry had only returned to Hogwarts for Eighth Year because he was no longer sure he wanted to spend his entire life fighting bad guys—or at least not without a little breather since the last time he’d marched off to his own death to save the world. [...] He had NOT come back to be stuck with Draco Malfoy for another year. So how the hell had he ended up sharing dreams with the bastard every night?
7. Fragile Contents by Velvet_Riptide [T, 136k]
Harry is at his wit's end, trying to find a therapist that suits him. With some help from Minerva, he settles on the unassuming, hard-hitting Dr. Ashford--the same therapist, interestingly enough, Draco Malfoy visits. Brought together once more, Harry finds an unlikely companion in Draco, in between sessions. Draco, whose glare has softened. Draco, who no longer relies on his name to get by. Draco, who might know Harry's struggles a little better than Harry gives him credit for.
8. Wix Ever After by Year_ofthe_Rabbit [?, 134k]
The newly launched MAGE TV, the wizarding world's first broadcast network, has the chance to cement themselves as the future of Wizard entertainment. The one and only Harry Potter, seven time Witch Weekly most eligible bachelor, will star in their hit new show Wix Ever After, where fifteen eligible Wix will compete for the chance of marriage with the Boy (now hot, hunky man) who lived. [...]
9. Warlock's Heart by @madriddler [M, 123k]
Wanting a better life and to keep their remaining family safe, James and Regulus Potter decided to leave the Order of the Phoenix and escape the war by moving to America. Everything was going for the Potters until the Ministry found them, they were dragged back to England, and Harry was forced to go to Hogwarts. Housed in Slytherin, Harry now faces a new school with new problems and new boys. Especially Draco Malfoy. Hier to the Malfoy Family, and a snobbish prick who is unfairly devilishly handsome. How will Harry survive such challenges? And why is the Boy Who Lived so interested in him?
10. Just scratching an itch by VanessaCG [E, 118k]
After leaving his job as an Auror after twelve years, Harry finds himself presented with an opportunity he had never considered. When McGonagall offers him the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, it seems like a crazy proposition at first. But sometimes life throws a few curveballs, and the thought of coming home to Hogwarts is unexpectedly tempting. Still, adjusting to life as a professor would have been a lot easier if his former nemesis Draco Malfoy wasn't on the staff. [...]
11. Nine Lives by @xx-thedarklord-xx [E, 113k]
The first time Draco’s life was saved he didn’t think anything of it—miracles happen. Only, it kept happening. Over and over his life was spared by the same person, and Death wasn’t happy about it. Will he be saved once again when Death finally comes to collect? Or will his nine lives have run out?
12. Draco Malfoy and the Second Chance by dreamofroses [E, 97k]
When Draco and Harry are hit by a spell that sends them back ten years to Harry's eleventh birthday, they try desperately to get home before they damage the timeline too much. As it becomes apparent, however, that there is no way home, they must decide how they will spend the years they must relive. The more they change, the less they'll be able to predict. Lives are on the line, as is the fate of the Wizarding world.
13. Albus Potter and the Summer at Malfoy Manor by @cak3fictions [E, 95k]
Albus Severus Potter's life was changed by three letters all written by his dad. The first was about his parents' divorce. The second came telling about his dad's new marriage. And even then, the third was the bomb which brought the fact that he was going to spend his summer holiday with Dad and Dad's new husband at the Malfoy Manor. Albus already had a complicated relationship with Harry, and this new family dynamic just made everything all the more complicated.

However, the house no longer belongs to the Black family, and only a few days into his exile, Draco finds himself with an unwelcome roommate. For what it's worth, Draco is also unwelcome, and Harry has half a mind to throw him out when he finds him camping out in his godfather's home. [...]
17. Switching Alliance by @hufflepuffromantic & Jess_eklom [T, 44k]
During the war, whilst on the run, Harry, Ron and Hermione get captured by snatchers and brought to Malfoy Manor. From there things go a little differently. Ron and Hermione escape and Harry is left behind. He manages to escape too but when he does he's not as alone as he thinks… Harry ends up with a rather surprising companion who he very quickly has to learn to trust. Will they manage to work together to end the war?
18. The Shadow Child by Polly_Flint [T, 42k]
Everything changes that day, this child shows up at the Ministry of Magic and asks for help. A child claiming his father is Draco Malfoy. Draco Malfoy, who disappeared without a trace more than six years ago. A case that the Auror Harry Potter has never been able to solve. But the more Harry tries to find out, the more he gets caught up in a web of lies and unspoken secrets. Who is Scorpius Malfoy? And what will happen to Harry's life when the truth is revealed?

Saving You.

Short Summary: Returning to Hogwarts didn’t go quite as expected. You soon realize as to why Tom and Draco tried keeping you away from the only place you were sure to be safe at…
Warnings: violence, death, torture (not too descriptive)
A/N: Three long months have passed… thank u everyone for being patient! I know this is pretty short, however… there will be one final part!! (Which hopefully won’t take me three months to write🫠)
wordcount: 1,5k
Read PART 1 and PART 2 before! <3
part 4
Darkness. Silence. Hopelessness.
Feelings you wished to leave behind when you exited the cabin and made your way through the woods, returning to the only place you thought you’d be somewhat safe—Hogwarts.
Yet, when you did, everything had changed.
Hogwarts was no longer the sanctuary you knew it to be. Harry, Hermione, and Ron were long gone, off to find the remaining Horcruxes. The Order couldn’t resume their work as before under the rule of death eaters at school. However, the issue that was most difficult to overcome proved to be the certification of blood status—something you, being muggle-born, of course, didn’t have.
Many people told you to leave and return home to your family. Yet, you refused and faked your blood status in order to be able to attend school. For you, it was never about education, it was about doing what’s right—trying your best to support the Order in every way you could.
To questions on where you had been, why you had disappeared for weeks, you only replied with made-up excuses. Excuses they luckily didn’t question any further.
Weeks passed—weeks of emotional stress, hiding, making yourself as small as possible. Defence Against the Dark Arts class was the worst. The Carrow twins did not take it easy on students. Practicing dark arts, having older students torture first-years. And if you did not follow their command, you’d be the one taking the curse instead.
So, when your body ached at night, keeping you awake, your mind wandered. Thinking of your time in the cabin, where yes, you were lonely, but you were safe. Safety—something they promised you by staying with them. And now—you understood what they meant. What they tried to indirectly warn you about.
Tom and Draco—who you once thought to be your enemies—had tried to protect you from all of this.
But now—you were on your own. Ever since you left the cabin, you had not seen them again. They didn’t show up to classes, never sat in the Great Hall for dinner—until you realized they weren’t there at all.
Tom and Draco were quick to take notice of your disappearance. At first, they tried looking for you, though soon they realized it was too late, that you had already made it back. Would you have stayed if they had informed you about what was going to happen? They both knew you wouldn’t have, that it would only have made it worse. After all, that was what they liked about you—your unwavering loyalty to your closest friends.
So they let you go.
A decision they regretted as soon as both of them were told they would no longer be able to visit classes—not until the war was won from their side. With the Vanishing Cabinet fixed, they had other, more urgent tasks to tend to outside of Hogwarts. This meant they couldn’t keep an eye on you, even if they wanted to. Knowing your non-magical background and that you would be in constant danger made the thought of leaving you alone even harder to tolerate.
Yet none of you knew that your reunion would come sooner than anticipated.
Soon after the trio returned, informing the rest of the Order about the remaining Horcruxes, chaos broke out. Many of the younger students had already left, and while Harry tried finding the last Horcrux hidden inside the castle, professors and students put up resistance against advancing forces. You too tried your best to help, heading deeper into the castle to cover another entrance—by yourself.
And you were almost there—when a pair of strong arms pulled you into an empty classroom before you could react properly. With your wand raised, ready to defend yourself, you took in your surroundings, only dimly lit by the last few weak sun rays on the horizon. But the moment you saw who it was, you lowered your wand again.
Tom. Draco.
“What— what are you doing here?” You stammered, taking a step back.
They were wearing the same clothes they wore on the night you followed them into the forest, a painful reminder that you were fighting on opposite sides.
Tom was the first to speak. “There is a lot we have to talk about—first and foremost, you left. Why you were able to leave—is on us,” his head turned slightly, a dangerous glow in his eyes as he glanced at the blonde, “on Draco, to be exact. However, you didn’t follow our instructions. Again.”
“You left me in the dark about all of this,” you snapped, brows drawing together in irritation. “You can’t expect me to stay if I don’t know what is going on.”
“Telling you wouldn’t have made you stay,” Draco remarked, his expression softening slightly.
You scoffed, turning around to leave. You had better things to do than to argue. Knowing them, it could have very well been a distraction or another trap. Although they had shown you their true intentions by now, you still found yourself too weary to trust them completely.
A firm hand on your shoulder stopped you.
“Tell us. Tell us to get you out of here, and we will. Draco and I will take you somewhere safe. I don’t beg—but for fuck’s sake, please. Please let us protect you.”
The genuine sincerity in Tom’s voice told you all you needed to know. Their intentions were pure. However, you couldn’t leave. The Order needed you, needed every person they could possibly have. Your decision had been made a while ago, and they wouldn’t be able to change it, even if it guaranteed your safety.
“I am staying. You know they need me.” You exhaled deeply, eyes flicking between the both of them. They exchanged a glance, yet didn’t interrupt you. “Whatever happened between us isn’t going to influence my decision. I want to stay and fight. For my friends, for the people who took me in when no one else did. I am free to choose—and I choose this.”
Tom’s jaw clenched and Draco’s blue eyes darkened at your words. “That you are.” They agree, but the words tasted bitter as they spoke them. “We will be watching over you.”
You raised a brow. “Surely they need you on their side.”
Draco took a step forward. “Sweetheart, if we were on their side, do you really think we would try everything in our power to save you from this?”
Your head turned slightly as you heard someone call your name down the corridor, most likely looking for you. A sigh fell over your lips. You could do this. You were determined. Even if this was the last thing you did, it would be for a good cause.
“I have to leave. They need me.”
When they didn’t respond, you turned, leaving them behind. A cool breeze hit you as you exited the classroom, making sure nobody was close before you continued your way.
It wasn’t long before the guards outside were broken, forces entering the castle. You fought bravely alongside others, defending everything that was dear to you. And it worked out well—until it didn’t.
You don’t exactly know how it happened—but you were by yourself. Facing two death eaters at once.
Naturally, you tried backing off, finding a place to hide. You could very well duel one, but two? It would take advanced dueling skills for you to win this match unharmed, and while you were by no means a bad duelist—you were missing the courage to do so.
So you turned, hurrying your way through the dark and empty corridors as quickly as you could. But they were too fast, and you, already exhausted from the ongoing fighting, didn’t have enough energy to escape. Curses and spells were fired after you, some of them only narrowly missing you. One lucky aim later, and there was only one of them left following you—though the relief wasn’t meant to last.
The second caught up too quickly, and before you knew it, a curse struck you from behind, having you trip, knees hitting the floor as you fell, curling up as an agonizing wave of pain spread through your body, making it impossible for you to move any further.
Then, he was there, right beside you, victoriously aiming his wand at you.
That’s it, you thought.
It’s over.
—“Avada Kedavra!”
But the curse never hit you. You were breathing. You were alive.
Instead, the death eater’s lifeless body collapsed to the ground with a loud thud. Your eyelids fluttered open then, but your surroundings were blurry, ears ringing as your consciousness slowly faded.
The last thing you remembered was someone carefully scooping you up, strong arms carrying you away from the scene.
“Shhh. We got you.”
Then—darkness.

hi liv!!! what are your favorite underrated 8th year fics? any hidden gems you'd recommend?
Hi anon, always! I was gonna start off by saying that I haven’t read 8th year much, but this list is evidence to the contrary so maybe I should stop saying that 😂 here are some recs for you, I’ll also highlight two personal favourites: Matched Set by astolat and Like Lightning at Your Fingertips by potterwatch, while not exactly underrated I don’t see them recced often enough. Enjoy!!!
Snug by @moonflower-rose (E, 6k)
Potter can't keep his hands off himself. Draco can't look away.
The Pensieve Project by curiouslyfic (T, 7k)
Of the 116 Hogwarts students who took part in the final battle, only five are officially invited to the Ministry's first annual memorial. For everyone else, there's the Pensieve Project.
Champion by @shealwaysreads (T, 7k)
Harry thought his Eighth Year would be simple and easy. And it sort of is, though not in the ways he expected.
What Country, Friends, Is This? by khalulu (M, 8k)
When Harry and Draco are paired up for a nebulous “capstone project” in 8th year, Draco suggests they use it as an opportunity to take a free Grand Tour of Europe. Harry isn’t interested in being grand, and they soon veer off the beaten path.
Good Company by Greenflares (T, 8k)
With Hermione and Ron always together, Harry's return to Hogwarts to complete his education isn't exactly fun. Somehow, it's his unlikely friendship with Malfoy that keeps him sane.
swallow your words by icarusinflight (E, 9k)
The truth is, not many things are known about the magic that is behind soulmarks. They'll turn up when they want and not before.
Heliomancy by Leela (E, 10k)
A teasing mirror that came from Grimmauld Place and the emphasis on inter-house relations during his eighth year at Hogwarts change everything for Harry.
warmest part of the winter by warmfoothills (T, 11k)
It’s not even a balcony, it’s just a window with a bit of a ledge, and Draco’s read Shakespeare anyway, he knows how this one ends.
Said and Unsaid (or, The Value of Knowing When to Stop Talking) by bryoneybrynn (T, 15k)
When the Interrogator asked if he had anything to say on his own behalf, Draco shook his head, his lips pressed tight in a thin line. There was nothing to say that wouldn’t sound like an excuse.
Find The Balance by lauren3210, Obliviate_Amores (M, 15k)
After Harry gives Draco his wand and goes back to using his own, they both start having trouble making them work. Finding out why is a lot simpler than fixing the problem.
Equally Cursed and Blessed by @moonflower-rose (E, 18k)
Harry's back at Hogwarts to attempt his final year, again. This time he's sure there'll be no shenanigans. Well. Maybe there'll be a few.
Edificabo by @doubleappled (E, 18k)
Numb and exhausted after the war, Harry returns to the only real home he’s ever known. Hogwarts needs help, too.
Silver Linings by @sorrybutblog (M, 21k)
Or: Harry's gone back for eighth year at Hogwarts and nothing is quite the same, save his inability to leave Draco alone. But then he finds that Draco isn't what he expected either, as they spend the month of December stuck in each other's orbit.
Colloquy by @dracoladon, @lazywonderlvnd (E, 30k)
Harry's not gay, Malfoy just smells good.
On Our Way by evils (E, 30k)
Draco is trying to spend the summer keeping his head down, but a repair project and a certain snowy owl have other plans for him.
All Things Go by @sorrybutblog (E, 32k)
Draco’s back at Hogwarts by court order. Harry’s back for no particular reason at all. Some things change, some stay the same. Neither expects to spend eighth-year living in close quarters, playing rugby (poorly), staying up late, sneaking around, and finally figuring it all out.
Eager for the Sky by @oknowkiss (M, 35k)
It was announced, just as the Triwizard Tournament had been, at the start of term feast. A year-long, international Quidditch varsity match — the inaugural Wizarding Academy Cup.
Inside Your Mind by @lazywonderlvnd (E, 36k)
Goyle's taken it upon himself to act as Malfoy's personal, one-man guard and Harry can't help but feel like it's only making the bullying worse.
Seeker, Chaser, Keeper by VivacissimoVoce (M, 59k)
Rumor has it that a wealthy investor is starting up a brand new professional Quidditch team and he’s looking for players. Harry and Draco both want to make the team, but there can be only one Seeker. Will competing for the position bring them closer or drive them further apart?
Inertia by @cavendishbutterfly (E, 83k)
It’s three months after the war. Harry has already mucked up all his plans. Draco is no longer the prince of Slytherin house. And they sure as hell didn’t both mean to go back to Hogwarts at the same time. Cue snarking, long conversations…and unexpected snogging.
Reparo by amalin (E, 85k)
Voldemort's final defeat does not mean Harry Potter's troubles are over; far from it. In the aftermath of war, he returns to a Hogwarts that is fractured and divided, but this is no break that can be fixed with a spell. New owls, fading scars, surprising alliances—and along the way, the hardest task of all, to live with it.
Bonus: Harry/Draco/Theo 😌
just call this what it is by queens_crown (M, 27k)
Upon returning to Hogwarts after the war, Harry can't sleep. He's not the only one.

letters he never sent — draco malfoy
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Draco had written you this letters in the quiet, suffocating corners of Malfoy Manor during the war—when the world was falling apart and he couldn't speak to you, couldn't even look at you.
You hadn't spoken in months by then. You were on opposite sides, in more ways than one. And when he pushed you away near the end of sixth year, you thought it was because he stopped caring.
But it wasn't that.
It never was.
The letters—hidden in a drawer, bound with trembling hands and a fraying black ribbon—were never meant to be found. Not really. Not by you.
But you found them anyway.
It was two weeks after the Battle of Hogwarts. The castle was still healing. So were you.
You had been helping the Ministry sort through the personal items left behind in safe houses and occupied spaces when you stumbled into the drawing room of Malfoy Manor. You hadn't meant to find his things. You hadn't meant to open anything.
But his name was on the stack, written in his familiar, careful script.
And beneath the stack of books and loose parchment, you found them.
Seven letters.
All addressed to you.
None of them sent.
You read every single one with shaking hands.
And when you finished the last one—"I never said it. Not once. But I did. I still do."—something cracked open inside you.
Because all this time, you'd thought he left you behind.
But really, he was writing to you in the dark, alone and terrified, using ink and parchment the way others used prayers.
You didn't wait.
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #1 – September
— Somewhere in Malfoy Manor, just after school would've started. —
I don't even know why I'm writing this.
You're probably back at Hogwarts. Or... maybe not. I don't know who stayed. I don't know what side you're on. I guess it shouldn't matter, but it does.
I thought it would feel powerful, being part of this. My family told me it would. I thought maybe I'd matter for once.
But nothing about this feels like power. It just feels like rot.
I think about you more than I should.
Do you think about me? Even once?
-Draco
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #2 – October
The Manor is colder now. Death Eaters come and go. He barely sleeps.
I had a dream last night. You were laughing. I couldn't hear the joke, but I remember your face. You always smile with your whole mouth, but your eyes do that little squinting thing too.
You always told me I was cruel when I was scared. You were right.
I wish I had told you that then. I wish I hadn't pushed you away.
Merlin, I hope you're okay. I hope you're somewhere warm.
I hope you haven't changed too much.
Or worse—
I hope you have.
That means you'll survive this.
I don't know if I will.
-D
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #3 – November
— He's just seen someone tortured in front of him for the first time. —
I can still hear her screaming.
I didn't stop it. I couldn't. I didn't even move.
Do you hate me yet?
I would.
Sometimes I sit in the drawing room and think about what I'd say if I saw you again. I rehearse entire conversations in my head.
In all of them, you forgive me.
I know that's not fair.
-Draco
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #4 – December
It's Christmas. But there are no decorations this year.
My mother tried to make tea this morning like it was just another day.
My father didn't speak.
I caught myself checking the snow outside, wondering if you were somewhere looking at it too. Wondering if you still love snow or if this war has made even that feel dangerous.
You used to tell me there was something sacred about December. You always lit candles, even when the lights worked fine. You said it made everything feel warmer.
I lit one tonight. Just one.
It's stupid, but it made me feel closer to you.
Happy Christmas.
Always,
D
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #5 – January
— The walls feel closer. He hasn't seen the sun in days. —
I think I understand now.
All the times you asked me if I actually believed what I said... all the times you gave me a chance to choose something else—
You knew.
You knew I was just repeating what I was told.
But I said it anyway. I said things that must've cut you open. And I never once said sorry.
So this is it:
I'm sorry.
For every cruel word. For every time I looked away. For making you feel like you had to walk away first.
I don't deserve your forgiveness.
But I needed you to know I would've said it. If I'd had the courage.
-Draco
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #6 – March
— He's been forced to do something he will never speak of again. —
I can't even hold a quill properly right now. My hands won't stop shaking.
I think I might be lost.
I used to imagine getting out of this. Running. Hiding. Taking you with me. But that was just a fantasy, wasn't it?
I'll never get out.
But maybe you will.
Please live.
That's all I want now.
For you to live.
-D
───────────୨ৎ──────────
Letter #7 – May
— Days before the Battle of Hogwarts. He writes this one in secret, in a stolen moment when the house is quiet. —
If you're there—if you're at Hogwarts—I hope you don't see me.
Not like this.
But if you do—
Don't run. Don't fight me. Just... look at me. Please.
I need to know if there's anything human left in my eyes.
And if I don't make it—if this ends for me the way I think it might—
Just know that I loved you.
I never said it. Not once. But I did.
I still do.
I always will.
- Draco
───────────୨ৎ──────────
You found him at the edge of the Black Lake, standing alone. His shoulders were tense, hands in the pockets of his coat. He didn't hear you at first—his gaze was somewhere far away, like he was still lost in the things he couldn't say.
You stepped onto the grass, the letters clenched in your hand. "Draco."
He turned instantly. The moment he saw you, he froze.
You didn't say anything right away. You just held them up.
His face drained of color.
"How did you—" he started, but his voice was hoarse, like he hadn't used it in days.
"They were in the manor," you said, your voice low. "Stacked under a book. Tied with black ribbon."
He closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them slowly. "You weren't supposed to read those."
"Well, I did."
A beat of silence passed.
You stepped closer. "Why didn't you send them?"
He swallowed hard, looking at you like you were something fragile and fleeting. "Because I didn't think I deserved to."
You shook your head, your throat tight. "You could've just told me."
"I didn't know how," he admitted, voice cracking. "You were—are—light, and I was... everything else."
You stared at him, heart pounding. "You say you loved me. Was that real?"
Draco stepped forward now, closer than he had been in a year. His eyes searched yours like they were trying to find a reason not to speak—and failing.
"Yes," he said. No hesitation this time. "It was the only real thing I had left."
Your hand trembled slightly as you held the letters tighter against your chest. "I would've forgiven you," you whispered.
He smiled, but it was sad. "I know. That's what scared me."
Silence stretched again, heavy and raw.
"I kept thinking about that last letter," you finally said. "You told me to look at you. To see if there was anything human left."
Draco's breath caught.
You stepped even closer.
"So I'm looking," you whispered. "And I see you."
Draco didn't move for a second. But then he let out a breath—shaky, quiet—and looked at you like he couldn't believe you were real.
And finally, after all the silence and the war and the words left unsaid, he reached for your hand.
You didn't pull away.
Not this time.

Celebrity Crush Opposite || Slytherin Boys
type :: angst
tw/cw :: body image, insecurities
contains :: draco malfoy, tom riddle, mattheo riddle, theodore nott, lorenzo berkshire
summary :: you freak out over your celebrity crush only for him to look completely opposite from them. this is a different version of THIS post i made a long time ago, sorry it's so late! - I love this idea so much omggg the angst?? the hurt?? insecurities??? GIVE IT TO MEEEE - 🐍 :: masterlist!
DRACO MALFOY (enemies)
He's always mocked you for stupid reasons, like how you write your "a"s or how you hold your spoon
Once again, he was making his way to your typical spot at lunch to make fun of you
As he scanned your table, searching for something to mock you form, he made contact with a photocard in your hands
"GOD I WANNA GET HIM PREGNANTTTTT!!!" You shouted loudly as you sobbed into your hands
Your friends, oddly enough, nodded along with you and respected your comment
Draco thought it was outlandish but he shrugged it off, his mind was too busy staring into the soulless piece of paper you were holding
One thing about Draco is that he's always been popular with girls in school, even if they thought he was ugly, he knew they would find him cute or at least his asshole personality would let people think they could "fix him"
But for some reason, this simple piece of paper put a knot in his throat as he felt a pang of insecurity strike in him
Surprisingly, he broke his streak of daily mocking as he sat at his table, disappointed and hurt
What hurt even hurt was the fact that you didn't even notice that he didn't mock you today
How could you not tell he's flirting with you!!! (he literally spat in your food one time and call you a fat pig)
As he went to bed that night, he stared at the ceiling, getting flashbacks of the photocard like he was a war veteran
The cute Asian man with dark hair was drastically different from Draco in every way
Race, hair color, eye color, body shape, everything!
He couldn't help but feel insecure in himself, after all you're one of his longest ever crushes
Genuinely thinks of dying his hair black until Lorenzo and Blaise beg him not to
TOM RIDDLE (friends)
You were one of the only people to understand Tom and his weird antics making you two become friends
In return for accepting his weird habits, he was forced to deal with yours whether he likes it or not
He skipped one of his classes in order to stay behind and work with Professor Slughorn on a new potion they were learning
You gave him your notes from class, a very common thing between you two except normally Tom was the one sharing notes
As he looked at your shit handwriting, he started to see a theme in it
All over your notebook were drawings of some random actor?
Tom doesn't know pop culture very well so he asked you who it was in your books
"Who??? WHO??!? HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT KNOW MICHEAL B. JORDAN???" You said as your jaw hit the floor "HE'S THE FINEST MAN ON EARTH?!?!?!"
"Never heard of him."
"You're gonna hear me scream his name once I get my rose toy"
Tom has never been a big fan of anything popular since he strives to be different from everyone in every possible way
But for some reason, this interest of your in Micheal B. Jordan made him want to research him further
When you left, Tom instantly started to research Micheal B. Jordan until 3 A.M
For some reason, Tom felt upset? (He's jealous but doesn't even know he likes you)
He feels possessive, as if he should steal your notebook and rip out all your drawings of him and burn them
Actually... he might do that,
But, he can't help but compare himself to Micheal
In his head, he thinks it's because you said he the most handsome man ever,
But anyone with common sense could tell it was from him liking you
Tom doesn't change himself after this news though, he's not a pussy and knows he's fine already
But, he does hope that one day you can call him the finest man on Earth
MATTHEO RIDDLE (classmates)
Although he didn't know much about you, he's always wanted to
So when he heard you shout at the top of your lungs when you saw something on your phone, he was quickly interested
He's tried to get close to you multiple times by befriending your friends, going to your usual spots, and more
But for some reason, you two couldn't line up
So he decides to just walk up to you and ask you straight up what you're looking at and spark a converstation
He walks towards you as you spam your fist against the table
You begin to make gorilla sounds and bang your chest, "OO OO AHH AHHH OOOO AHHH!!!!!"
(inspo by my queen brittany broski)
Andddd he begins to take a step away.... He can't just walk back to his desk now since it will be awkward
So he continues to walk past you, slightly scared and weirded out by your behavior
He looks at your phone only to see a random singer with dark skin and locs
Mattheo didn't even need to check himself to know that he had no similarities to the celebretry that you love so much
And instantly, he's bummed to an extreme level
He's so used to being every girls ideal type that he can't stand the thought of the one girl that he ACTUALLY likes have the complete opposite taste of who he is
But that doesn't matter to him too much, since he's fully confident that he can get you to like him with some time
He's the only guy who I think would understand that it's just a celebrity crush and that it's not the end of the world
Because he knows he's hot
THEODORE NOTT (classmates)
Although he's a massive fuck boy, he still gets crushes every now and then, and you were his biggest crush yet
He's tried to flirt with you in the past, but he either stumbled his words or you just didn't understand what he was implying
So when he heard you across the room freaking out over some random actor, he was quick to run over and look
He got up so fast, doing his best to act natural as he pasts by your table
"For my birthday I want him to be oiled up with a bow on top"
Your crude humor was funny to him, he loved that you were unserious
As he passes by, he sees an older man with a fully grown beard and some wrinkles
He wouldn't be surprised if the man had children of his own that could ever be your own age
Although his face doesn't express much emotion, he couldn't hide how his eyes widened at that
He goes to his dorm and researches him to no end, finding out everything possible about the man only to get confused as to why you like him so much
It was a fully grown man with a wife and two kids, what appeal did he have?
Theodore is so lost and confused, he's not sure how to make you like him
He was hoping it would be Harry Styles, Chris Hemsworth, fuck it even Sam Smith - Because at least they were younger and looked attractive
But this was a fully grown man...
Theo feels so sad, thinking that he has no chance with you and sulks for the rest of the day
But his friends comfort him, reassuring him that he still has a chance with you since Theo could grow to be an old man with you
And that statement did make him blush a lil heehee
LORENZO BERKSHIRE (best friends)
Freaking out over hot people was something that he was used to girls in your grade doing
He never understood why people liked those different guys so much, but he didn't care since he basically looked like all of those celebrities in some way
But when he heard you playing the same edit audio over and over again, he needed to know who it was
And as he looked, he saw some random tan buff dude with a mysterious aura to him
You were basically drooling all over your phone
"I wanna stuff my face inbetween his man titties and suckle it like a starving baby"
Lorezno's brain was instantly able to picture that exact sentence, and he didn't like that at all
On instinct he cringes at your statement but laughs it off
As the day ends, he starts to overthink and compare himself to the guy you like so much
He was so much buffer, had a different skin ton, and even had a different hair color
Lorenzo has always been a bit insecure about his body since he was pretty lanky and lean which was the opposite of his friend group of Mattheo and Theo
He looks in the mirror whilst holding up a photo of of the random guy you like so much, picking himself apart
Once he finds out everything he needs to change, he breaks down first. but then gets to work
Pushing himself to fit your perfect type just so he can even have a sliver of a chance of being with you

only because I love you | draco malfoy X reader
Summary: When you and Draco break up before the war, but not for the reason you think.
—————————————————————————
It was just like every other train ride to Hogwarts, or at least it was supposed to be. What was usually a train filled bustling excitement for the new school year, was filled with horrifying thoughts, and whispers of how everyone’s world was changing. You tried not to listen to it as you were leaning against the window in your compartment with the trio and Ginny. Even that wasn’t enjoyable as everybody was trying to ignore the weird tension between Ginny and Harry as well as Ron and Hermione, and you were kinda just stuck in the middle of it, wishing all those idiots would realize their feelings.
Draco was in his own compartment you assumed, most likely with his friends you despised, just as he despised yours. You guys had been dating since the middle of year four, but lately he's been distant, if that's one way to describe it. You assumed it was just because of the stress surrounding the brewing war as well as his own internal family affairs. Anybody would be stressed, but something else was causing Draco to slowly tear himself away from you. You couldn't handle the tension in your compartment at this point so you decided to go see your boyfriend, after all it had to be better than this compartment, right?
You were wrong.
"I think I'm going to go see what Draco is up to,” you said while awkwardly standing up, resulting in Hermione giving you a why are you leaving me here look, and Ginny giving you a wide eyed tight look. You chuckled before leaving and starting towards the end of the train, glancing into each box to see which one Draco was in. Eventually you came across Draco sitting on one side of a box, and Pansy and Blaise on the other.
Yes Pansy.
You two never had a rosy relationship as she was practically in love with Draco, and before you and Draco started dating, you and Pansy were even somewhat friends. Now it was definitely turbulent, you were always on the mend of punching her, but Draco always assured you everything was fine and he only had eyes for you.
You don’t know why you believed him.
You sent a knock on the glass and Dracos head shot over quicker than ever. Strange. He looked kind of scared that you were there, like he had to hide something. Pansy looked at you and sent a smirk while shooting her eyebrows up and down. You just sent an eye roll back. He opened the doors and instead of letting you in, he stepped out and closed the door again.
"What are you doing here,” Draco asked bluntly, you’re pretty sure it didn't mean to come out the way it did, but it still stung.
“I'm just here to see my boyfriend, something wrong with that?" you asked, the annoying apparent in your tone.
“No of course not, I need to talk to you though, let's come over here" Draco said guiding you to the small area between the boxes and the toilets. You seemed to get an idea of what was coming, you internally begged that your intuition was wrong, but you just had a gut feeling. You stayed silent leaning your back against the wall and Draco leaning against the other one. Even though he had distanced himself from you, you still loved him, and you thought he loved you too.
"Look I just- I know I've been ignoring you, and I know I haven't wrote to you, and I'm sorry but I just-" he paused and you knew what was coming next, "I can't do this anymore" five words that made your heart shatter.
"What why? Did I do something? Did I say something? Did i-" he cut off your rambling "No it's not that it's just…." he spoke but he paused, like he didn't have a reason he could tell you about. "Just what Draco, I spent the last 2 years with you, I listened to you breakdown about everything, I was by your side through everything and now your breaking up with me, why?" you yelled at him and it took him my shock. He just turned his head to the side, grabbing his head and thinking of what to say. You started to think, the distance, the ignoring, the way he was acting when you came to his box, the look Pansy gave you at the door…. could he be cheating? No, he couldn't right?
"Is there somebody else" your voice cracking despite your attempt to remain unaffected. He quickly turned his head and went to shake it no, but instead it seemed like he finally knew what to say. "I- look you’re perfect but I just- I lost feelings, and there's nothing wrong with you-," he went to grab your hands but you smacked them away with tears spilling down your face "Darling please I promise I was going to tell you sooner but I just couldn't stand to break you like that.”
“How could you do this to me? All the shit my friends gave me for being with you, saying you were up to no good, I believed you over them, how could I be so stupid?” You screamed at him, sobbing and slamming your fists on his chest. At this point Draco’s eyes were glazed over as well, but not for the reasons you think. You just leaned back on your side of the small space before sliding down to the floor and burying your face in your hands. He knew it was better to just leave at this point, so he bent down towards you and placed a small kiss on your forehead. You looked up at him with your tear stained face and his heart broke at the sight. "I'm sorry" were his last two words before he unlocked the door and left.
Just like that.
You stayed there for another 15 minutes sobbing before Ron came to use the bathroom and found you in your state. He rushed back and got the others and you told them everything that had happened while Hermione had to stop the guys from breaking Draco into pieces.
Just one thing though. It was all a lie.
"Is there somebody else" her small voice spoke up, the same voice he fell in love with, the voice he was still in love with. He had to do. this, He had to lie. Draco was informed by his parents this past summer that he would be becoming one of them, a death eater. If he didn’t do this, he knew she wouldn't be safe. He had to protect her and this was the only way he could. Draco watched her hit his chest over and over and he knew he deserved it. She was broken. Draco gave her one last kiss before walking out.
Just as broken.

Here's what, in my opinion, constitutes a GOOD Dramione fanfiction.
1. Hermoine Granger being an unapologetic BAMF. Genius level intellect, resourceful, exceptional strategist, ruthless, even dangerous.
2. Draco being/having been a cruel bully.
3. Hermoine being/having been one of the few people who aren't intimidated by him at all. She needs to put him in his fucking place. Or needs to have done so in the past.
4. Draco being brilliant and highly competent in his own right.
5. Draco's redemption being brought about by his curiosity regarding Muggles, his innate morality causing him to understand that what his family is doing is wrong.
6. Draco's redemption NOT being a result of his attraction towards Hermione. His fascination with her can be among the things that spur his change of heart, but it should not be the primary reason.
7. Hermoine should not be allowe herself to give Draco a chance just because he's hot. She can find him attractive, but should give him the time of day only AFTER she starts noticing small changes in his attitude.
8. If the story is set several years after thr war, Draco should have already overcome his prejudices, and should be genuinely remorseful.
9. Draco understanding Hermione in ways that Ron and Harry cannot. Making her feel appreciated in ways that no one else has.
9. Ron bashing, if done at all, should be based on things that are true to canon. For example, Ron is sometimes selfish and insensitive towards Hermione, but he would never physically hurt her.
10. Draco's relationship with Harry and Ron developing slowly and organically. They don't become friends quickly, but they also don't remain bitter enemies at the end. At the very least, their equation should be one of mutual respect, if not an actual friendship.
A few fanfics that meet these criteria.
1. The Disappearances of Draco Malfoy (Deathly Hallows rewrite. Draco joins the Order and helps hunt Horcruxes.)
2. From Wiltshire with love (Deathly Hallows rewrite. Spy Draco, Handler Hermione)
3. Metanoia (series rewrite from Goblet of Fire)
4. Harmonia Nectere Passus (HBP and Deathly Hallows rewrite. A two parter)
5. Remain Nameless (set ten years after the war. Both Draco and Hermione are still healing from their trauma, and find comfort in each other.)
6. Draco Malfoy and the mortifying ordeal of being in love (set fifteen years after the war. Is everything a romance novel should be)
7. The choices we make (HBP and DH rewrite)
8. Escape (Draco helps Hermione escape Malfoy Manor and joins the Horcrux hunt)
9. Perfectly in Pieces (DH rewrite)
10. Chosen (HBP and DH rewrite)
