❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒ 𝗺𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗶 𝗯𝗮𝗴 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀
𝟭. my notepad ( 📱 )
i take very messy notes, especially when the professor speaks fast and i have to write in a hurry. many note-taking apps allow you to record the teacher's voice, so you can listen back to the lesson when you reorganize your notes at home. the notepad allows me to write pages and pages without wasting paper.
𝟮. charger ( 🔌 )
i often spend 9 or 10 hours at university and i can't risk one of my devices running out of battery. with a charger always in my bag i never risk finding myself unable to use my phone or notepad.
𝟯. water bottle ( 🍶 )
it is important to stay hydrated during the day, especially if you spend a lot of time at university. i recommend always having a two-liter water bottle available, especially during long lessons that require concentration.
𝟰. snacks/lunch ( 🍲 )
preparing healthy meals for lunch improves not only your health, but also your productivity and concentration during lessons. having snacks high in phosphorus and magnesium to consume throughout the day will prevent you from consuming junk food from vending machines. ( + don't forget chewing gums !! )
𝟱. hygiene bag ( 🌷 )
i'll make a specific post for this.
𝟲. umbrella ( ☂️ )
i admit i'm terrible at this because I always forget my umbrella. i'm lucky enough to live near the university, so i walk there, but it becomes a real problem when it starts raining and i have to run home in the rain. so always carry a small pocket umbrella in your bag, i suggest it from experience.
𝟳. books ( 📚 )
it may seem strange but i don't use books at university. many of the lessons in architecture are practical and we do not follow specific textbooks for the theoretical lessons (the professors prefer to provide us with materials and use powerpoints), but it depends on the faculty you attend, your study method and the teaching method of your professor.
any interaction with the post will be appreciated !! ♡

obsessed with ancient/stone age human culture (would have gone on to study it if life hadnt gotten in the way) and so your ghosts au bdubs has me chomping at the bit. what a brilliant and wonderful choice. i dont have a lot of coherent thoughts rn but i love love love the tags in the og post of your recent fanart of him and i hope to see more of him and i love to turn him around in my brain. & wanted to tell you that.
i also think sometimes about how long he spent alone in death before any of the other ghosts joined him and oh, my goodness. how, uh,, how do you think he's doing?
Ghosts AU Bdubs is so interesting to me bc I came in at the beginning mostly just basing him on the portrayal of Robin from the show, which I knew wasn't entirely historically accurate in the first place so I would probably want to go more in depth with him at some point, but I just hadn't taken the time to do the research necessary to actually go through with that development, and then this semester half of my classes these last few weeks have been discussing Paleolithic and Neolithic people and art and something just snapped in my brain and I was like. Ah. Okay. The potential there is crazy actually. So there'll definitely be more of him!! I'm like half using him as an excuse to explore the stuff I learned in my classes more in depth and half using the fact that I learned about this stuff in my classes as an excuse to finally go through and develop him the way I wanted. Symbiotic relationship or whatever.
Also yeah, that long ass gap of time where he was the only ghost around certainly has been bouncing around in my head a bit. I don't have. completely coherent thoughts about it at the moment. I certainly think he might've coped in similar ways to the way Robin does in the show, getting attached to the people living on the property, spending a lot of his time learning from them and talking to them even if they don't realize he's there. I think he probably would've been a much more serious figure in life, and also in the early days of his afterlife (I mean not completely, it's still Bdubs we're talking about lol, but still), that spending all that time alone might've unraveled him a bit. I feel like it's hard to get a definitive grip on like. Who he is. Some days he's kind of obsessive and neurotic, in everyone's business, easily worked up, other days he seems perfectly content to ignore the happenings of the house, just do his own thing out on the property. I feel like most of the other ghosts wouldn't know much about his life, or even his early afterlife, he doesn't talk about it much and when he does it's always some crazy one-off anecdote that doesn't let you in on much of what was actually happening at the time. I think, like Robin in the show, he probably has his moments of like complex emotional or social intelligence that seem kind of out of nowhere from an outside perspective until you think about how long he's been around to have observed and learned about the world, about people.
#atlas speaks#hc ghosts au#I just. OUGH. spinning him around in my head atm#i also like. after getting more educated on the age robin came from have so many questions for the bbc ghosts writers#about why they made him the way they did#i'm not gonna get into all that in the tags but just.#why is robin a kind of generic neanderthal caveman despite being alive around 10000 BCE on the cusp of the paleolithic and neolithic period#they literally could've just slapped a different date on him closer to the lower or mid paleolithic and it would've been fine but like.#neanderthals were essentially extinct by then. there was art and jewelry and the beginnings of organized settlements#but the clothes they have him in /are/ historically accurate to the time period?? (mostly at least)#i just. it confuses me what they chose to make accurate and what they chose not to#so anyways I'm trying to have a bit more care with the way I settle Bdubs into that time period. even if I'm not like an expert or anything#i really said I'm not gonna get into all that and then did it anyways huh. whoops#i need to stop typing lol thanks for coming to my ted talk

pairing virion!yarne with maribelle!noire and its like the noble couple nobody ever wanted. its not an arranged marriage because nobody would ever ask for that. they get together and noires like “mom, mother, this is my boyfriend yarne” and maribelles like A RABBIT?! and tharja goes “ah yes. perfect for my experiments” and yarne is sprinting out the door at speeds you have never seen before, never to speak to them ever again. maribelle is like “how can i get him to talk to me again. carrots?” but it doesnt matter. tharja’s aura keeps him far, far away. yarne brings noire home to rosanne and virion is like “hello young lady, my name is virion virion and i—“ and shes screaming and crying and threatening to kill everyone. well Nevermind. but then they place a plate of food in front of both of them and it is the calmest you have ever seen the couple in your entire life. they constantly have screaming matches and not in an arguing way and not in a sexy way but in a “if we both practice yelling really loudly, we’ll always be able to find eachother in an emergency!” and then noire bursts yarne’s eardrums. they do not ride horses or drink tea or play chess but they do dedicate two full hours of their day to anti extinction meditation rituals and insist their house staff participates as well. they go to upper class/high society functions together because you can’t not invite them but usually someone ends up passed out and theres a 50% chance its neither of them and a 100% chance its their fault. maribelle and virion are like “so when do we get noble grandkids” and theyre like “well we’re thinking like 13 is that ok” and panne is like “I see no issue with this.” they are so happy together and nobody else is
#ann plays awakening#maribelle is like ‘well if you want 13 kids you better get started now’ and noire says ‘where do we start’#a conversation no one wants to have especially when one partner is a rabbit#but lets be real they did not receive sex education in the bad timeline. good luck parents#bridgerton ‘inserts himself where?’ scene is essentially what im thinking#yarne gets really fucking mad when someone says 13 is too much hes like ‘IS YOUR RACE DYING?! NOOOO MINE IS. MINE IS!’#and anytime someone tries to calm him down noire grabs her talisman and just goes off. good for them.#maribelle is praying on brady to make a normal match for himself#headcanon that only matters me. the lone virianne and tharjabelle shipper. but one day… one day you will all see my vision.

Sometimes I just think about how absolutely insane it is that Justin Kuritzkes drew inspiration from his own life when writing certain aspects of Challengers. Specifically pulling from his own marriage to Celine Song when developing Art and Tashi’s relationship.
But you’d only know that if you watched her directorial debut (and another masterpiece) Past Lives.
#do you guys know the lore? or do i need to educate you all#i could talk about the parallels forever and ever guys like genuinely it’s INSANE#my favorite thing is how tennis in challengers and language in past lives essentially play the same role#also justin making the male character who marries the girl named art after celine named him arthur in past lives…YOU ARENT SLICK#also the way arthur is with nora and the way art is with tashi is similar to me#this is why i find it funny when people are like i wish art was real or i need a man down bad like that…LIKE HE IS REAL ITS JUSTIN

The Ontology of Culture
The ontology of culture examines the nature, existence, and fundamental structure of culture as a concept, system, and lived experience. It addresses how culture emerges, exists, and functions in human societies, as well as its metaphysical status—whether it is an objective reality, a social construct, or an interplay of both.
Key Questions in the Ontology of Culture
What is culture?
Is culture a tangible entity, a system of symbols, or a set of practices?
Does it exist independently of individuals, or is it constituted by individual and collective actions?
How does culture exist?
Materialist View: Culture manifests through physical artifacts, art, tools, and architecture.
Symbolic View: Culture exists as shared symbols, language, and values.
Dynamic View: Culture is a process, constantly evolving through interaction, adaptation, and change.
Is culture universal or particular?
Are there universal cultural elements, or is culture entirely relative to specific societies?
How do shared human experiences shape universal cultural themes?
How is culture transmitted and maintained?
Through language, rituals, education, and media.
The role of institutions, traditions, and collective memory in preserving culture.
Is culture a static or dynamic entity?
Static perspectives view culture as enduring and unchanging over time.
Dynamic perspectives see culture as fluid, evolving in response to historical and social factors.
Theoretical Perspectives on Culture
Essentialism:
Culture is viewed as an intrinsic set of characteristics that define a group of people.
Constructivism:
Culture is constructed through social practices and interactions, shaped by power dynamics and context.
Structuralism:
Culture exists as a system of underlying structures, such as language or myths, that govern human behavior.
Postmodernism:
Challenges fixed notions of culture, emphasizing its fragmented, diverse, and hybrid nature.
Cultural Materialism:
Focuses on the material and economic conditions that shape cultural practices and ideologies.
Ontological Issues in Culture
Subjectivity vs. Objectivity:
Is culture a subjective experience unique to individuals, or does it exist as an objective, shared reality?
Individual vs. Collective:
How does individual agency interact with collective cultural norms and practices?
Temporal Nature of Culture:
How does culture persist over time, and what mechanisms allow it to evolve?
Intercultural Influence:
How do cultures interact, merge, or clash in a globalized world?
Nature vs. Nurture:
How do biological factors interact with cultural influences to shape human behavior?
Practical Applications
Cultural Studies:
Analyzing cultural products, practices, and ideologies to understand societal dynamics.
Anthropology:
Exploring the lived realities of diverse cultures to uncover universal and particular traits.
Sociology:
Investigating the role of culture in structuring societies and influencing behavior.
Philosophy of Education:
Examining how culture shapes knowledge systems and learning methodologies.
Globalization Studies:
Addressing the impact of cultural exchange, homogenization, and resistance in a globalized world.
The ontology of culture seeks to define what culture fundamentally is and how it operates across human societies. It integrates metaphysical, social, and practical dimensions to provide a holistic understanding of culture's nature and significance. By addressing these questions, we deepen our comprehension of what it means to live within, shape, and be shaped by cultural systems.

Also when sep restarts his apprenticeship is he like. Okay so you rlly did cut out a lot of stuff huh. Wtf were u going to if I finished the apprenticeship. And marcia's like idk I didn't think that far ahead. Or like. What happens andjdndjfn I need More
quick context because this has been in my inbox for at least two years but this is about the apprenticeship arrangement in rewrite au (at least I am like 95 percent sure it is).
if Septimus had actually finished the apprenticeship, he wouldn’t have been able to take over as extraordinary wizard because of how she modified it to be age appropriate and because he went into it with little to no experience with or knowledge of magyk (in rewrite au, the extraordinary apprenticeship is more of an elite position; if the purpose is to train potential extraordinary wizards, then only apprentices who are top of their magyk classes or programs are considered). Marcia was never going to have him take over so young, but without the proper training, he couldn’t have taken over ever. so since she didn’t have a plan and never thought that far ahead anyway, and because the arrangement was always about his day to day functioning, she really was just figuring it out as she went (with no help from Silas or Sarah, but only because Marcia is the extraordinary wizard; the apprenticeship hiding the fact that she is his legal guardian is hers to figure out as far as they are concerned).
the hardest part, since she did want him to take over eventually, would have been keeping the arrangement a secret and finding how to prepare him in a way that qualified him without him realizing what was really going on. she would have pushed him to higher education, would have found ways to introduce new books and extra lessons and spells in a way that didn’t clue him in that she was teaching him the way he should have always been taught. anything, so that when she was ready and he expressed interest in replacing her, it could happen. but because he doesn’t have the easiest apprenticeship even modified as it is, none of this happens. it all falls apart because it wasn’t sustainable, but also because he wasn’t ready and neither was she (which she did warn Silas and Sarah about).
she tells him this, after the first three months of his restarted apprenticeship, but only when he asks. because he knew, after they finally talked about it when it all fell apart that the actual apprenticeship was different, but he hadn’t realized just how much. he’s taking magyk classes because Marcia warned him she wasn’t going to bridge his gap in knowledge. he would be more than prepared for some of it, but nowhere near ready for a lot of it. if he was serious about recommitting to the extraordinary apprenticeship then the extraordinary apprenticeship was what he was getting, nothing less, and he needs do the work he missed on his own. Marcia is also Marcia, so she pushes him harder and expects more of him than other extraordinary wizards might have expected of their apprentices if they were in this situation. his first three months are very difficult as a result and he starts realizing that being the extraordinary wizard is a lot harder than it looks, that the work required to get to that position is harder than he thought, and he’s like, oh my god, Marcia, were you going to throw me into that without any of this?
telling him the second part of it, that she still wouldn’t have told him about the arrangement had he finished his original apprenticeship, is almost as hard as it would have been to cover it up. he really does not like hearing that Marcia still would have lied by omission and kept it from him. he thinks that he would have deserved to know, had he not found out by accident when it fell apart.
Marcia ends the conversation there though, to his frustration, because there’s no point in talking about what would have been. he knows now. he’s doing the apprenticeship now, the right way. they’ve already discussed the arrangement, at length. they don’t need to discuss it any further.
except they do, because they resolved it without resolving it. if Marcia kept this from him, if she would have continued to keep this from him, what else must she be keeping from him? he never fully trusts her again.
#septimus-heap my beloved#septimus heap#marcia overstrand#rewrite au#I have sooooooo many thoughts on their relationship you guys#also he never fully trusts Silas or Sarah again too because of their part in this but that’s another post#but yeah anyway wizards are typically in fantasy supposed to be pretty scholarly and it bothers me that. they’re really not that scholarly#yeah yeah it’s middle grade whatever but rewrite au isn’t so the system has to expand to match#the level of magyk and skill still has to be age appropriate and make sense. a twelve year old is not going to be able#to do the magyk a young adult who’s known they’re magyk their whole life would be able to do#(can you tell the whole projection thing with sep’s being more complex than marcia’s had been bothered me)#what you would teach a young adult you would not teach a twelve year old. you would make it age appropriate#maybe had sep known he was magyk and been taught and pushed from infancy in it it would be different#and it would essentially be the equivalent of being a child prodigy who gets a college degree aged 12-15. but he wasnt#I also took an issue with the magyk being the exact same like marcia does what we would assume to be high level magyk because she’s eow#so why is sep doing the same magyk so quickly if that’s high level magyk that presumably took marcia years to master#or is that not that difficult in the long run so sep is able to pick up on it faster. in that case where is the high level magyk#you would assume the extraordinary wizard alone can do. because she has the highest position and therefore one can assume mastery over magyk#that would have taken her years to acquire and no one else is able to do#I have so many thoughts on education and magyk as well omg. I do have an ask about education in this world though so I’ll get to that later#to those of you who are new here rewrite au is an expansion of sorts. I’m an anthropologist and the worldbuilding in this series#gives to so many implications and possibilities that I just had to make it as real as possible. as in#how would the world really have developed if it’s our world 10 thousand years from now#what realistically would this world look like. and then of course I don’t write middle grade#the plot doesn’t change. but they get there and how things work make a whole lot more sense. At least to me 🤪

Girl help why is a fantasy setting using modern American gender terminology
They could've already bounced off of the existing term aqun-athlok and show the gender culture of the North largely adopting Qunari concepts as part of cultural exchange resulting from the literal hundreds of years of war with the Qun. The only openly transgender characters we know of are from Tevinter anyway! They already wanted to show the Qun in a more positive light in Veilguard, having Thedosian queer culture be primarily influenced by the Qun would be a great way to do exactly that
#dragon age#veilguard spoilers#dragon age taash#dragon age lore#dragon age the veilguard#it just really feels a bit like they just take the modern real world (american) gender terminology for granted#most of the terms are very recent too. we didn't have most of these terms until only the past century or not even that#not to mention some cultures in the world have their own terms and concepts regarding gender. it's not universal#and having the queer culture of Thedas be tied with the other geopolitical issues would be interesting af too#something I and many other queer people living outside the US would relate to would be having to grapple with the#fact that the only way to describe your lived personal experience is by using the language of what's essentially the colonizers#because your country never developed any of your own. it's the dilemma between resisting the pressure on your culture and being able to#express your identity. feeling like accepting yourself as queer is losing some of your ties with your home#of course it would not be the exact same in Thedas since the Qun doesn't have the same chokehold on global culture as the US does#but like you get it. there is stuff to be done with this#but the way this codex entry is written feels a lot like the devs trying to educate players on real world queer people#and doing frankly a very bad job at it
