If you're on the fence at all about whether or not you should vote in the upcoming election, or if your mind is pretty made up that you're not going to vote, I absolutely beg of you, please vote. No your one vote probably won't change the course of history and swing the election one way or the other, but if you're considering not voting because you don't think it's important, think about how many other hundreds or thousands of people in your constituency are thinking the same. Those votes collectively can and will impact the result. I understand that the possibilities for pm are all shit, but remember that you're voting for your member of parliament, to represent you, not voting for a prime minister. Look at who the people running in your constituency are and choose whichever of them you most want to represent you in parliament, even if it's not the most tactical vote for getting the Tories out. What's important is that you use your right to vote - voter turnout is always shockingly low, especially with young people, do what you can to help those figures go up and also to have someone you agree with representing you in parliament

So the trick to get you in the groove to work on on oc stuff is that first you put them in a fic for something your alredy working on and rhen let them bloom

You say that like you think I haven't tried it.

The problem is, for the way I write fanfic—I go hardcore on the canon compatibility—a really good fanfic OC has to be woven so deeply into the context of the original canon universe and canon story that you can't rip the canon out of them without undermining the whole foundation of their identity as a character. One you remove the canon, all you're left with is superficial surface details that no longer make sense without the canon you've stripped away.

For me developing the kind of OC that could stand wholly independent from the source material means a failure to write the kind of OC that I feel is appropriate for the fanfic I created the OC for. If the OC is whole and complete and fully developed and needs nothing if you remove the original canon context, then what the hell are they doing in that canon anyway? If the canon has no major impact on who they are?

So, I've noticed that a lot of people into activism and politics here just don't really have a good grasp on the concept of risk management, which is incredibly important to understand if you want to be effective. So I went and found the videos that I learned about risk assessment from back in the day.

Sixteen years ago, wonderingmind42 explained risk assessment in seven short videos. (Back in these days, free users couldn't upload videos longer than ten minutes.) Although he's specifically talking about risk assessment in the context of spending money to reduce the impact of climate change, the principles described here are applicable to every decision in life.

How could you ever, EVER think of voting a racist, homophobic, misogynist, megalomaniac and all the negative adjectives of the world man? I had little hope in Kamala, I had the feeling she would not win… BUT HOW COULD YOU, HOLY SHIT?

Do you think your “saviour”, the same who said that he should have trusted men around like Hitler with their generals? The same man who allowed one his constituents to call Kamala a “whore” and simulated a oral practice with his microphone IN FRONT OF THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE (who have less brain than him, let’s be honest), the same who organized the assault of Capitol Hill because he could not accept defeat, the same man who had another scum called Elon Musk corrupting the people by donating millions for voting for Trump (a practice ILLEGAL, I L L E G A L), would really MaKe AmErIcAh gReAt AgAiN?

Europeans (the intelligent ones, as there are the no brained ones who are celebrating Trump’s victory) are looking at you with extremely side eye because you ruined us. You LITERALLY ruined us, already fragile from two wars that are far from seeing the end. Don’t think that he will be the Messiah that will stop all the wars: it won’t happen. Don’t think the economical and commercial relationships will improve under him: it won’t happen.

For all the women voting for Trump: I hope you look in your mirror in the morning and be ashamed of yourself, because there were women behind you who FOUGHT AND DIED for your fucking rights, and you put your vote on a man that will erase your rights in a heartbeat. Don’t cry when you’ll be treated as a baby machine, because you’ll have to shut up when it will be too late to complain.

For all the Americans who voted for Kamala and tried to break the cycle and giving America a better future: I’m so sorry. I’m so fucking sorry. I know she wasn’t your best candidate, that she has lots of flaws, but the damage would have been less instead of the orange tycoon. We’re living in a simulation of the 1920’s, where violence and ignorance are reigning without being punished. These four years, barring unforeseen events or coups, will pass. And a better future will come.

I just realized something. It's probably not coincidence that a "great plague" hit Vault 33 right when Rose left. Likely, the plague was cover for her disappearance and death, they were able to quarantine the residents so none of them would discover what happened to her and the kids. However wasn't it said that people, multiple, died of starvation during that time? The implication here is that Betty and Hank actually let a bunch of Vault 33 residents slowly and painfully starve to death just to cover their tracks.
