I have been thinking about my goals and ideas as a creative and what it all means to me… I got here because I was thinking about what I could write next to continue my journey through the Continnum, and here’s what I realised: the Continnum represents a continuation of something that has been ongoing in my creative journey over the last couple of years (maybe longer), and though beginning it was a new, turning point for me, I realised it didn’t have an anchor. What I mean by that is that the writings that allow the Continuum to be what it is. The writings that I’m now choosing to put down here.

I put in about an hour of thought into this before beginning it, but that hour of reflective thinking made me realise that this has been a long time in the making. Everything I always do has a way of bringing me back here- to the underwhelming-because-it’s-so-frequent thought: ‘let go of inhibitions and fears, and just do it!’

Last night, I was thinking about my recently found discovery: Neghar Fonooni’s blog. Reading her work gripped me with an overwhelming desire to just write, I just didn’t know about what. And here’s where my mind made connections that I just sat with for that hour before I sat down and began this endeavour…

I was taken down memory lane when I dived deeper into the inspiration that Neghar Fonooni triggered in me. I thought about Shaunta Grimes, remembering when I first encountered her work a couple of years ago, when I was seriously thinking about pursuing further education (I still am, which is probably why my mind took me to that specific memory… It is, after all, the work I began then that eventually led me back into art school in the first place). I’m thinking specifically about when she spoke about the 1000 day MFA- the idea that got me started on drawing everyday in a sketchbook with a ballpoint pen- and the idea that led me to the blue-niverse that I consider my drawings to be. I am here, at this point in my life because of the work I put in then (that I reimagined to suit my desire to be visual artist at the time).

Now, however, where I stand is different. I approach this with a desire to write and write and write (about anything and everything). When thinking about the recent influences and learning’s I’ve come across through being back in art school, reading the kind of references that I never even thought about because I never knew of them, and the way they have shaped (and reshaped) my thinking, and the way I choose to express myself, there’s more and more literary influences that even shape the visuals I sometimes (though not as frequently) create.

Now, when I think about expression, writing is what comes closest to letting me articulate what I want to in more diverse ways, and I’m not complaining. I am, however, immensely afraid of this shift because writing as a medium is not something that I chose to develop before.

With these shifts in mind, when I think about last night’s thoughts about Neghar Fonooni and Shaunta Grimes, and my desire to write and write and write- and read, and watch movies, and basically live my ‘renaissance girl era’, the hour long thought process I engaged with before I sat down to write this somewhat impromptu post, I guess my course of action for the foreseeable future is now this:

I am engaging in Shaunta Grimes’ 1000 day MFA again, this time, with a refocused attention on developing my writing while deeply engaging in my own form of self-guided learning (with reading choices that follow a similar tangent of thought that led to writing this in the first place).

In the spirit of learning how to be a better writer and to help hold myself accountable for the work that goes into the 1000 day MFA, I wanted to write here. Everyday, for the foreseeable future (or at least until I reach the 1000 day mark), I wanted to chronicle the learning and also have a reference space that informs my Continuum.

frank's reverb shop archive

i noticed that the items from frank's reverb shop (main page) got removed, but the links of each individual item still worked, so i archived them all into a spreadsheet

for some reason, when archived into the web.archive, the page only lasts for about 8 seconds before it crashes, i'm leaving this here in case anybody knows how to fix that, or of some other way we can preserve this stuff

note: i counted 245 items, but 243 are listed. i think i counted the Epiphone ET-270 twice and couldn't find the Fender Alkaline Trio Malibu. if someone finds the missing links, please do share so i can add it!
