I love how No 6 couldn't be written without Shion's queerness. Every important characters in this story are people who deviated from the norm in one way or another. It's an integral part of the story.

Shion's fascination and attraction to Nezumi is what sets the entire story in motion.

It's what forces him to see through the veil of dreamlike safety, it's what awake his needs for truth, for humanity. It's what will inevitably free them and cause the fall of the perfect city (amongst other things...)

No, No 6 is not a simple BL with a side of sci-fi. It's a genuine queer revolution and I must say, I'm fascinated by it to no end.

can't stop thinking about lila and nino's time in the shoe shop for no particular reason (lie), but she brought books to that shop... the whole affair started by the sea... the books, the shoes, the sea... all symbols of lila's childhood that have been morphed into something else, something eerie and adult, and she attached their original shape and meaning to nino, just like she has always done with elena, because he was supposed to be her way back to these things, if only indirectly, if only the small way she could possess them again existed in watching him have them. and i've mentioned this to mal the other day, but the heart of this relationship is based on a cruel contradiction: on one hand it is an attempt to reestablish childhood innocence (the books, the shoes, the sea in their original fairytale, dream-like form), but on the other hand it's overwhelmingly defined by adult themes like adultery and sex (melina and donato's relationship) it's a warped perspective on both childhood and adulthood ultimately. it's got the spirit of each right, but the motifs are all wrong, like they've crossed to the wrong side of the timeline. so, in many ways, nino, to lila, exists as both the essence of elena and rino, the gods of her childhood, and as the essence of marcello and stefano, figures tied to her brutal push into adulthood. and lila is already an extreme example of adult motifs crossing into childhood's territory so when nino appears, her understanding of sex and adultery hasn't been sugarcoated, but is rather present in, not the only possible form sex and adultery can exist in, but certainly in one of their truest forms, vulgar and dangerous in their banality. (thanks to stefano and melina and donato respectively) thanks to that, lila's relationship with nino can't be a new beginning because it's only a response to preexisting experiences and everything good about it is only good because it's better than something that happened before, but ultimately it stays within the circle it appears to be rebelling against.

ok so a little about rt from my finished run. she's a noble, i did originally have a general vision for her to be power-hungry but in the beginning she was more reserved, testing the limits of her power, getting used to it, that's why she has some points in both iconoclast and dogmatic (and totally not just because i wanted to check them out as well)

lavinia did think that the sudden and early demise of theodora was very convenient for her, bc she expected to have to take out other heirs that theodora mentioned to inherit the warrant, but it ended up being a lot easier than that

oh and those iconoclast points are mainly from the couple of times when jae pointed something out and since lavinia was dating her at the time, she just went along with her suggestions

so her descent into heresy ended up being quite smooth, at first she was not taking it seriously, warp powers were just very useful things to command a few times, while causing havoc in the protectorate the rest of the time, which certainly didn't appeal to lavinia much. if it's her controlling kiava gamma heretical quarters, that's alright. but she was stil against the cult overall

but, then she met the inquisitor, someone with power over her, and she just really wanted to get back at him. and she already had a very confrontational relationship with heinrix, where heinrix didn't let her take the warp abomination from kiava gamma as a pet to the voidship and all the hypocrisy of the inquisition. the commoragh definitely radicalized her further and ingratiated her towards the ruinous powers, which she did unleash upon it in revenge. jae breaking up with her after lavinia failed to save her crew (which is totally fair, i like that she curses "the one who failed to stop it", it's so honest, i like the rogue trader held accountable + the real life reason for this is that i couldn't figure out how to do stealth fast enough and then just decided to stick with the results), and then anti-heresy companions leaving, so i found it interesting how well it built up to her going fuck it and aiding the cult

and she is the champion ofc

the extremes she goes to in the epilogue slides also really follow this established pattern of her having power and abusing further and further just because she can. it's more interesting to me than her setting out as a zealot, here destruction and violence and power became a habit, normalized and only then taken to another level

yeah that's one thing I noticed in the race video, Godrick is even slower than Rykard!! to me if you really watch Godrick move, it looks like it's difficult or even painful for him to walk? I love the potential thematic angle of Godrick convincing himself that the more limbs he grafts onto himself, the stronger he gets, but at the same time his body is struggling to support itself and it's making his movements awkward and unwieldy... like how the things Godrick does don't actually help him, but are really very self-destructive and sad and come from a place of self-hatred.
