On the left, the Umber Hulk, 8 ft (2.4 m), about as smart as your average person, and can confuse and disorient people with thier gaze! Beneath a hide covered in chitinous plates is a very muscular body. One strong enough to tear through 10 ft (3 m) of solid rock in 6 seconds. Apparently the eldest of them can grow to 16 ft (4.9 m) and become very good at reading people.
On the right is the ettercap, 6 ft (1.8 m) tall spider people! They can even make webbing, and use it often to set up traps and restrain and choke people.

Drawtober Day 21 of my RPG Monsters Prompt List Pt 2!
Ettercap!
I typically hate spiders but I find myself kinda endeared to this guy. (He might have a dash of Admiral Trench inspo going on too.)

Thought to have once been a cult of spider worshiping druids, permanently cursed into their strange quasi arachnid forms. Ettercaps stalk the shadowy eves of long forgotten woods, and tunnels in the deep places of the earth.

A Journey into the Heart of the Forest
The forest was deep and dark, and the travelers who ventured into it knew they were in dangerous territory. They had heard stories of the ettercaps, the quiet killers who lurked in the shadows, waiting to entrap and strangle their victims with their sticky webs.
As they made their way through the trees, the travelers couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The forest was eerily quiet, and the only sound was the soft rustling of leaves in the wind. They knew that this was the sign of an ettercap's lair, and that they needed to be extra careful.
Suddenly, one of the travelers stepped on a tripwire, and a net came crashing down from above. The travelers were trapped, and they knew that the ettercaps would soon be upon them.
Just as they were about to give up hope, they heard a rustling in the bushes. But it wasn't the ettercaps—it was a group of fey creatures, who had come to rescue them. The travelers were amazed—they had heard that the ettercaps were natural enemies of the fey, and they couldn't believe that these small creatures were brave enough to face them.
The fey led the travelers through the forest, showing them how to avoid the ettercaps' traps and snares. They showed them the trees that were encased in webs, the bones and lost treasures of the ettercaps' victims. The travelers realized that the fey were the true guardians of the forest, and that they would do anything to protect it from the ettercaps' malevolent influence.
The travelers were forever grateful to the fey for saving them from the ettercaps, and they promised to help the fey in any way they could. They knew that the battle against the ettercaps was not over, but with the help of the fey, they would be victorious.

I had a really good day at work today. Went on a call to get a couple of ettercaps out of an old abandoned barn and was greeted by our client. She was a landscaper who had been hired to renovate the property, and she was also very cute. She seemed to take notice of me right away and started flirting, and I was a little startled because she was hot.
She also proved extremely competent, helping us clear out the ettercaps with a hunting rifle she told us everyone in the company kept in the car in case something like this happened. It is Florida after all, there are plenty of critters that can bother anyone working outside of the few asphalted over cityscapes.
We cleared out the ettercaps in near record time, and afterwards we started talking until Leroy told us that both of our bosses would get pissed if we didn’t get going. I got her number though and she said she’d text me.

On the right, the barbed devil! 50% fire and 50% thorn, but as perceptive and patient as they are covetous! Dedication and passion to a craft can be a turn on though, even if that craft is theft and mugging!

ive been going back n forth on this design for the past day and a half and finally settled on it, so! heres a dnd character ive been thinkin about
this is Crepuscule, an ettercap and a twilight cleric worshipper of Lliira, the goddess of joy and lady of revels. theyre chaotic good, kind of naive and easily tricked, but overall a real sweetheart who genuinely wants to help people.. even if a lot of people are kind of unsettled by them. theyre also a weaver and an artist who makes their own clothes and collects trinkets to make jewellery and beads.
ive always thought ettercaps were really fun, i love their way too gangly arms and weird claws. Creeps here is just another one of the 500 dnd monsters I want to make playable variants of lmao
