(...) but amongst the pastiche of war and desire, beauty and damage, I saw Claudia, in an impossible afternoon light she could never survive in. Claudia as Madeleine perceived her. Resplendent. rendered even more beautiful by her beholder. And I knew then, with all certainity, she would be a better companion to Claudia than I ever had.

sounds like yet another holmes adaptation has fallen victim to accidentally giving johnlockers hope then going "fuck! no we're not doing that sorry we wouldn't want to mess with the canon in such a way" despite already messing with canon in a multitude of ways like what is this absurd mental block about making holmes queer??? he can be a rat they can all be androids in whatever time period it's all fine. every adaptation happily mess with female character from the stories making them love interests or dead or flipped gender it's all fair game apparently but if anyone dare suggests the men who live together for decades might actually love each other it's straight to holmesian jail like the fuck??? i know I've been harping on about this for decades but it's just insane holmesian stories have been contorted to the edges of creative licence for a century and no one bats an eyelash until queerness is mentioned and suddenly it's a step! too! far! i adore the holmes canon exactly because it's inspired such love and offshoots over the years so much if modern media can be traced back why on earth is this innocent, well meanings and frankly obvious interpretation still so taboo? (queerphobia)

I was telling my little sister about Gertrude Robinson the other day and she said something that kind of made my brain explode. I was explaining all of the terrible things that Gertrude did in the name of saving the world and how, on the opposite side, Jon avoided doing a lot of terrible things but ended up dooming the world anyways. She responded with the classic, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
And idk it just really struck me. Bc, between Jon and Gertrude, which of them had better intentions? Which one of them ended up in hell?? Crazy crazy crazy to me bc I’m pretty sure it could apply equally to both of them.

Dreams just like us fr
He really saw Hob Gadling in 1589 and went: “You’re stable?? Happy?? Heterosexual*???
Boring.
I’ll be over there chatting with the art twink if anyone needs me.“
Then Hob comes back in 1689 like “I’M FILTHY, TRAUMATIZED, MISERABLE, YET FULL OF HOPE” and Dream is really like:
“At last. A blorbo.”

the crazy thing about the sages in totk and their connections to the champions in botw to me is this: if the events of totk had happened 100 years ago, the champions would have been the sages. they have the sages' powers passed down by blood, and their descendants use the same powers throughout the game. all of them are related to the sages--
except Revali.
he's just some guy!! all of the other champions have their powers because they're descendants of the sages. but Tulin is the sage of wind and to my knowledge he isn't related to Revali at all. revali is the only one that has no special powers, only his own skills. the fact that teba and tulin exist implies that the actual descendant of the sage of wind had to be present when the hylians came looking for a rito champion, and revali took that guy's job. Imagine having the power to literally control the wind but even w that you're just not fucking good enough to compete with Revali 'I have to be the best at everything or I'll go nuclear' of the Rito for the title of champion. if all of the champions had survived the calamity and were there to help Link in totk, they would all be the ones with the secret stones taking up the mantle of sage. except Revali, who would just be some guy still hanging around losing his mind bc for the second time in his life an actual child is being given a position that he thinks he's much better suited for. it's a good thing he didn't make it honestly I don't think he'd take it well.

thinking about how lestat started following/falling in love with louis after seeing him pull out a knife on on his brother in the first ep, placing the knife against paul's neck. then louis pulls out a knife again but on lestat in the last ep of s1, and uses the knife to cut lestat's neck.
the reason lestat fell for louis is how lestat gets killed by him (although not really killed, just very injured)

I just want to talk about the nursery being painted and the purpose of the Tomb to be without a door. Anastasia had a family - and putting to the side the pact with Alecto there's some implicit symbolism to John asking for the workers of the Ninth to die constructing the Tomb with that image of new life. (Still can't articulate my disbelief that he went and didn't think that asking Anastasia of all people, The one who lost her cavalier to him, would have problems)
Yeah. Especially finding this out about the Ninth, where nurseries becoming tombs is a thing we're sensitive about.
On one level we've always known Anastasia had a family. Like, we know she's Harrow's direct ancestor. You can't be heir to the line of someone who never had children. But the nursery.... Yeah. It really hammers it in. Her friends painted a nursery mint green for her children.
And now it's a tomb.
