🌼DaisyClan: Moon 17-18🌼
Moon 17
Fawnpaw watched in awe as his mentor ran up the side of the tree as easily as if he were running along the forest floor. Reaching the lowest branch, Echofall crouched near the trunk and smiled down at Fawnpaw. “Alright, Fawnpaw,” he called, “Your turn! See if you can climb to me.”
“Okay!” Fawnpaw mewed. His tail quivering excitedly, he leapt at the tree, digging his claws into the soft bark. Fawnpaw felt himself starting to slide down, and his heart jumped into his throat. But he pushed hard with his hind legs, and began to claw his way up the trunk. Fawnpaw noticed that the faster he climbed, the easier it was to keep his balance. Looking up, Fawnpaw saw how quickly he was approaching the branch where Echofall sat. A spark of excitement flashed through him. This was easy!
With a final heave, Fawnpaw pulled himself into the lowest branch. His tail was puffed up and he was panting, but there was a big smile on his face. “I did it!” He squeaked.
Echofall purred. “You sure did!” He said. “Now - catch your breath for a moment, then follow me down.” Fawnpaw sucked in a breath of surprise as Echofall slid off the branch. The orange tom scrambled head-first down the trunk, letting gravity do most of the work. When he was low enough, Echofall made a graceful leap for the forest floor, landing with barely a sound. He turned and grinned at Fawnpaw, waving his tail for him to follow.
Fawnpaw stared down at his mentor, eyes wide. Going down looked way harder than going up. Fawnpaw felt a sudden twist of fear in his belly. What if he fell?
“Come on, Fawnpaw, you can do it!” The yowl didn’t come from Echofall, but from his mother, Icyback. She bounded up to the tree trunk, peering up at Fawnpaw. “Don’t worry,” she meowed, “I’ll catch you if you slip!”
Feeling a little braver, Fawnpaw scooted to the edge of the branch. He took a deep breath and put his front paws on the trunk, pushing off with his back legs. His body was parallel to the tree now, and he was heading down. For a second, Fawnpaw felt relieved. Okay, he thought, This isn’t so bad. But then he started to pick up speed, and he was moving too fast to be able to dig his claws into the trunk. Fawnpaw gave a squeak of terror. The ground was approaching too quickly. He was going to fall!
Fawnpaw squeezed his eyes shut, preparing to feel his body slam onto the solid earth. But instead, he collided with something warm and soft, and he felt teeth grip his scruff, slowing his descent. Fawnpaw’s saviour tipped backwards under his weight, and they both collapsed onto the dusty ground beneath the tree. Fawnpaw blinked his eyes open.
“Oof,” Icyback grunted from beneath him, “You’re getting heavy, Fawnpaw.” She smiled, and reached up with her forepaws to cuddle her son close. “Are you alright?”
Fawnpaw purred, feeling his heartbeat slow. “I’m okay. Thanks for catching me!” He slid off his mother’s belly and gave his fur a shake. “I didn’t hurt you, did I?”
“No. You don’t have to worry about me. I’m pretty tough,” Icyback teased. “But just keep practising, okay? I might have to retire early if you keep landing on me!”

Notable Events
Fawnpaw learns how to climb with his mentor, Echofall, and his mother. Climbing up is easy, but climbing down is much more of a challenge.
Minkstar had a vision of a massive, shadowy creature holding a daisy. The medicine cats can’t make sense of it.
Moon 18
Tulipnight sat at the edge of the forest, her ears pricked, and her tail curled neatly around her paws. She felt a pinch of sadness in her heart as she gazed into the shadows between the trees. Tulipnight would miss the open highlands of her birth Clan’s territory, but StarClan’s message had been very clear. She was meant to go to DaisyClan. She just wasn’t sure why yet.
Tulipnight lifted her head as she heard the sound of paw steps. Three cats emerged from the undergrowth, shaking leaf litter of their pelts. The cat leading the patrol, a white she-cat, saw Tulipnight, and narrowed her eyes warily. “What do you want?” She asked.
Tulipnight smiled warmly, and gave the white cat a respectful nod. “Hello. My name is Tulipnight,” She mewed in a voice that sounded like wind rustling the leaves. “I am here because StarClan told me I would find my purpose in DaisyClan.”
The white cat snorted. “Your purpose?” She repeated disdainfully. “Don’t you have a purpose in your own Clan?”
“I did,” Tulipnight explained, “But the vision StarClan sent me was clear: DaisyClan needs me more than HillClan does.”
The white she cat hissed and took a step forward, clearly offended by Tulipnight’s comment, but another DaisyClan cat tapped her shoulder with the tip of his tail. “Wait, Icyback,” he said, “Maybe we should take her to Minkstar. I mean, if StarClan sent her, we can’t just turn her away.” The orange tom looked up at Tulipnight and grinned. “I’m Woodfur, by the way.”
“Pleased to meet you, Woodfur,” Tulipnight purred, impressed by the young tom’s manners. Icyback, however, was still unconvinced. To her credit, though, she seemed to make a valiant effort to smooth her bristling fur.
“Alright,” Icyback grumbled after a moment. “We’ll take her to Minkstar.” The white she-cat turned, then shot a warning look over her shoulder. “Just don’t try anything,” she said to Tulipnight, “we’ll be watching you!”
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Tulipnight purred. How amusing, she thought, that this strong, young cat should feel threatened by me!
