Mhm, that would be a problem though I'd like to point out a couple things that would probably make this not a big problem for Knuckles. Plus, he isn't completely isolated per say...we saw that most of his 'problems' came more from social interactions and norms, rather than a lack of knowledge of other things. To add; 1) Flickies and other avian critters seem to be the norm; it wouldn't surprise me if during any of their migrations or such that they have carried various viruses or such back to Angel Island. And given Knuckles does care for the critters of the island, it very likely he'd caught things from them here and there. 2) Echidna's seem to have some form of advancements; which if we go by the cultures they were based off wouldn't be too surprising that they'd have medicine that can treat such viruses and such. So, it would have to be something extremely foreign or never dealt with for Knuckles to get deadly sick or ill. 3) Given that Knuckles seems very atoned to the Master Emerald and has a strong bond with it, it wouldn't surprise me that because of that bond that the Master Emerald had helped in someway boost his immunity and resistance to viruses and such. Think in a similar vein to Shadow I guess; not to the same extent but a somewhat similar situation to a degree. There are many other factors I can add; but I think overall Knuckles wouldn't be in too much trouble when it comes to illnesses or such. After all, we have seen he rarely leaves the island and places he does visit would probably have herd immunity. For something to effect him or such, it have to be something new on a grand scale or such... And cute lil' HC that his friends probably had him get vaccinate just encase cause you know...they care and want him to be healthy.

Trope Grading Game (instead of WIP Wednesday)

Hey folks, and thank you for the tags on Sunday @fatalfangirl @thewholelemon @theearlgreymage @orange-peony @artsyunderstudy @wellbelesbian and @youarenevertooold, and to @cosmicalart for the tag today (thank you for joining us!)

I’m having a slow morning, so when @aristocratic-otter tagged me in this game, I figured it could be a good way to try to ease myself into some writing. So consider this in lieu of my WIP post!

Honestly this was an interesting one to fill out, because I rarely seek out specific romance tropes. I’m always looking for the circumstances that lie beneath. The setting and plotty plot that the tropes are part of. Also, I’ve realised I’m very ignorant about romance tropes, so I may be misreading some of these xD 

Also, most of this is answered in a Snowbaz context, given that’s my only fandom.

Rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic?

Broadly, no. Anyone younger than 22 in a relationship with someone significantly older is something I avoid. That being said, my all-time favourite cishet romance is Hazel and Agnes in S1 of The Umbrella Academy. I’ve never wanted a cishet Happily Ever After so much in my whole life lol.

Codependency: +4

Broadly, yes. I enjoy fics that unpick the ways in which a couple are entangled and how that creates challenges, as well as how they may be resolved. I guess in a snowbaz context this often also means fluff, and tbh fluff isn’t my thing unless it’s at the end of a fic full of challenges that they have overcome.

Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +5

Outside of Snowbaz, not really. Within Snowbaz (and thus informed by its canon), yes. Especially when Simon is being an oblivious dufus and Baz is pining.

Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +7

Erm yes, I probably like this more than I previously realised lol. Like, as long as this isn’t the defining characteristic of the two characters, I can really get into it. I love Snowbaz fics that show a playful side to Simon.

Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +10

Abso-fucking-lutely. Obviously. Hot, lots of strong feelings, tension, angst, yes yes yes.

Friends with benefits: -2

If it’s sex with neither romance nor part of an enemies-to-lovers storyline, I’m not really interested. I’m a romantic at heart.

Sex to feelings: +5

Reasonably neutral as a baseline concept, but this can totally be done very well. It depends on the set dressing that goes with it. Is there conflict? Confusion over said feelings? Something keeping them apart? I love that shit.

Fake dating/relationship: 0

I’ve read good fics that use this concept, but the concept itself doesn’t excite me, so I don’t specifically seek it out.

Friends to lovers: 0

I like enemies to friends to lovers, but I like fics that have tension and uncertainty. Friends with benefits can certainly have that, but for me its not guaranteed to scratch that itch. 

Found Family: -3

I’ve not read any found family in fanfiction, but I’ve not enjoyed it in original fiction. It too often casts found family as a cure to a person’s baggage and past trauma, or just flat-out handles these topics in a way I find deeply uncomfortable (coughthehouseintheceruleanseacough)

Hurt/Comfort: +9

Oh yes yes yes. This is my jam. I like it best, however, when it’s part of a larger fic with other things going on (especially as part of a slow burn).

Love Triangle: 0

I don’t mind it, but it doesn’t appeal in the context of snowbaz. I have a slight aversion to fics where Lamb is part of the love triangle. No shade on anyone who writes that, he is a good canon character to place in that role, but it doesn’t align with my personal HC for Lamb.

Poly, open relationships: -5

I guess I’m way too monoamorous for this. Clone smut, however… 

Mistaken/hidden identity: +10

OMG. Ok so so this is where I probably stray from the point (lol), because I love this in a very specific context. Do we count Baz hiding the fact he’s a vampire in this? Because I LOVE stories where the character has something strange/supernatural about themselves that they are trying to hide, or that they may not even know about themselves in the beginning. And I could see enjoying this in a non-supernatural context (I just love fantasy elements a lot). Outside of Baz being a vampire, I don’t know if this is done much in the Carry On fandom? If anyone has any recs, I’d very much welcome them!

Monsterfucking: +6

As you’ve probably gathered from previous responses, I’m not a big smut person. But I gotta admit, I do like a bit of monsterfucking.

Pregnancy: +4

For someone with zero interest in having kids, I do enjoy a good mpreg fic. Especially when it’s unexpected and the pregnant character is riddled with doubt and uncertainty, leading to some hurt/comfort and angst with a happy ending. 

Second Chance: +2

Hmm. I'm neutral on breaking up and getting back together fics, but getting together later fics can be interesting. But, again (fuck this is my mantra), I’m mostly interested in the surrounding circumstances. What is the canon divergence that kept them apart? This is what will snag my interest.

Slowburn: +10

Yes! I LOVE a long plotty fic with slow burn and all that deliciousness. 

Soulmates: +8

As long as that baby has some angst/uncertainty/misunderstandings, I am all over that shit.

Noble Pokemon Rites and Trials HC(UPDATED!)

So I decided go ahead and post my ideas for the Rites and Trials I think every Noble heir has to complete in order to evolve and take on the mantle of Noble after their predecessor dies(in most cases). The only one mentioned and seen in game is Growlithe’s, and if you’ve read chapter 3 of my Ghosts fic it mentions Basculegion’s. I just wanted to get my ideas on paper, both for me and @kettouryuujin who is writing a Pokerus Noblity AU based off of my idea.

EDIT: I finally figured something out for Lord Electrode! There are 5 Trials and 5 Rites, and the name of each one has been given. Also added some changes made by @kettouryuujin that I liked.XD

Lord Wyrdeer- Known as the Trial of the Hills, with their Warden’s help the young Stantler must traverse all corners of Hisui, starting in the Obsidian Fieldlands and eventually returning to ascend to the peak of Deertrack Heights. The Stantler must then use Psyshield bash to destroy a tower of stone erected at the peak in order to evolve, and afterwards the Lord and his Warden must erect a new stone tower for the next Lord. This Trial is meant to prepare them for their duty as Lord of carrying the people of Hisui wherever they need to go.

Lord Kleavor- Known as the Trial of the Woods, Scyther’s Warden makes an amulet from the stone of the axe of the previous Lord Kleavor and places it around the heir’s neck. The Scyther must then ascend the Grandtree and slice off the topmost portion of the tree. (I thought of this because I heard somewhere the the tops of old trees are sometimes blown off, making them shorter)

Lord Ursaluna- Known as the Rite of the Moon, the Warden takes the Lord’s heir, who MUST have evolved into an Ursaring by then, to the Sludge Mound on the night of a full moon. Placed at the center of the Mound, the Ursaring is then painted with mud that came from the mud on the back of the previous Lord Ursaluna. Any design can be painted on the heir, but there MUST be a solid circle representing the full moon painted on the Ursaring’s forehead.

Lady Liligant- Known as the Rite or Dance of the Sun, and MUST be performed while the sun is visible. Upon the Brava Arena, the Warden must lead the young Petilil in a dance akin to a Liligant’s Victory Dance. 

Lord Basculegion- Known as the Rite of the Waves, this ceremony cannot easily be attended by the Warden of the Lord of the Waves. Instead, the current Lord Basculegion takes his heir down to the Sunken Arena once night has fallen, and calls upon a school of Basculin spirits, as well as the spirit of the first Lady of the Waves. The school of Basculin then combine with the heir, then The Lady(who is not absorbed), and finally, the current Lord Basculegion must be absorbed in his entirety by his heir. As Basculegion can live for a very long time, this Rite is only done when the current Lord is ready to pass on.

Lord Arcanine- Known as the Trial of the Isles. As seen and mentioned in the game, the Growlithe heir must make their way across the water to reach Firespit Island and the Molten Arena. It is their Warden’s duty to train the young pup to brave the waves and make the swim, despite their disadvantage and weakness to water.

Lord Sneasler- Known as the Trial of the Cliffs, once their Warden has trained the Sneasel heir to the best of their ability, they are given an amulet made from the claw of the previous Lord Sneasler. They must start at the base of Mt Coronet and climb to the highest point in Hisui(either the top of the Temple of Sinnoh, or the peak above the Stone Portal if that is too sacred) and meet the rising sun.

Lord Electrode- Known as the Rite of the Hallow, the Warden takes inert seeds collected from the previous Lord Electrode during it’s life and scatters them in a ring in Moonview Arena. The Voltorb heir is then placed in the center of the ring and lets out an electrical attack to spark and recharge the electrical seeds, causing the electrical current to run through the ring and get amplified before surging back to supercharge the Voltorb. This surge of Amplified energy then causes the Lord to evolve.

Lord Braviary- Known as the Trial of the Skies, the young Rufflet must fly a course shown to them by their Warden, taking them from Avalugg’s Legacy to the southern peaks of the Alabaster Icelands, and finally up to the flat square Arena at the top of Snowpoint Temple.(Yes, this is basically the course Sabi makes the player run, but on the ground. Also, I thought the very very top of the Temple was perfectly arena shaped)

Lord Avalugg- Known as the Rite of the Tundra. Rarely happens since Avalugg can be INCREDIBLY long lived, some lasting centuries if nothing kills them. A Lord Avalugg death has only happened once since the Pearl Clan’s arrival(which I HC as being around 1000 years ago). When the previous Lord feels his life comming to an end, he travels to a spot in the Icelands to pass away, leaving behind a mountain of ice and rock, the body of the last Lord coming to be known as Avalugg’s Legacy. Ice and rock is then collected from it by the Warden and taken with the Lord’s heir to Icepeak Arena. The young Bergmite must then consume the ice and rock of the previous Lord in order to evolve.

And yeah, that’s about it. I like that most of these involve some carryover from the previous Lord or Lady, as a sort of passing on the torch to the next generation. Also, feel free to use or change any of these ideas as you see fit.

As a result the planned chapter count has gone up to 5 instead of the initial 4. Hopefully I didn’t forget any other major characters in the Pokerus AU canon that turn into ghost pokemon, but if I did, you can expect a chapter about them as well.

To go with the last idea, the last thing Emmet saw of his brother was the video Ingo was recording for him as he explored the Icelands of Hisui. He was watching it live and saw the Zoroark attack as it happened. He frantically texted Ingo after the recording stopped and even tried to call, but the call function for the Arc Phone was disabled and Ingo was long gone by then anyway. He then tried and failed to contact Arceus, but to no avail. 

He was absolutely inconsolable for MONTHS afterward, believing he had just witnessed his brother being murdered. What brought him out of it was when he finally revealed what happened to Elesa, who insisted he tell her why he was so sure Ingo was dead. He told her about their meeting with Arceus and showed her the phone and video. She is horrified at first but then catches the sound of Ingo’s fleeing footsteps at the end of the video, proving that Ingo managed to get away. And while the strange Zoroark was covered in red splotches, none of them seemed to be fresh blood, meaning that Ingo probably got away relatively uninjured as well. There is still a very good chance Ingo is alright, and simply hasn’t been able recover his Arc Phone due to it being lost in the territory of a dangerous pokemon.

They contact Drayden, the professors, EVERYONE they can think of to review the footage and find a way to find Ingo again, but even after 5 long years little headway is made since Time Travel is something only the most powerful legendary pokemon can achieve, and the legendary pokemon are as elusive as ever. Not that time travel alone would help them, since unbeknownst to them Ingo is also in a whole parallel world to them, not in the past of their own world.

I also have such a nasty evil plan involving a Zoroark later in the story. I mentioned before that I had the idea of an enraged Drayden attacking the MC because he thinks they are a Zoroark, and when it gets ‘proven’ he damn near kills her. Seeing that last video of Ingo has given his family serious PTSD as far as Zoroark are concerned, and Drayden will not tolerate a Zoroark impersonating his nephew and literally toying with their emotions.

Dadzawa & 'his' traumatized children

- mineta doesn't last longer than an hour, tops. i'd like to think that, just like with aizawa's thoughts on heroes building physical strength alongside their quirk's strength, that he'd be unwilling to teach anyone who doesn't have a sense of common curtesy and decency

- since mineta’s parents are lawyers (id like to think that they are, even if canonically their not), they're quick to convince most of the ua staff to allow mineta back in the school. aizawa still expels him every time on sight

- shinso is the rightful 'owner' of the 20th seat

- nothing surprises aizawa anymore. his problem children bakugo and midoriya get broken bones at least once every other day

- he makes it seem like he doesn't care, but he 100% cares too much

- he's also very impressed with the improvement of the kids

- everyone has ptsd, and they all suffer from varying severities of night terrors. because of this, whenever a collection of kids wake up in the night, they decide to camp out in the common room. if bakugo is one of the ones who wakes up, he's always gone before the rest of them wake up

- also, theres a designated night every two weeks called ‘sleep over night’. literally just the kids sleeping in the common room all together

- class 1a collectively 'owns' 3 cats. technically, they do not, but aizawa realizes that when the kids are having a rough time, the cats are able to help calm them down in ways he might not be able to

- he intentionally turns a blind eye. in fact, he buys the best cat food, and even cat toys for the 3 class cats. uraraka had found one of them, a calico short hair, who she dubbed truffles

- jiro found the second one about a month later. this one was a mostly black cat with a couple of white splotches, one a heart shaped one on his left hip and a white splotch on his upper lip in the front of his muzzle. his name is agent bubbles

- and izuku and bakugo found the third one after their fight at ground beta. bakugo kept yelling about not wanting to get caught while izuku kept going on about how it looked like it was gonna rain and that it'd be cruel to just leave the kitten to fair the weather on its own. he named the kitten katsudon, however izuku always calls the kitten 'kat' and everyone assumed he named it after katsuki (except katsuki himself. its their little secret)

- so yea. 3 cats, 20 kids with ptsd, and one very very tired stand in for a father figure

- some days, the kids look like zombies during class and on those days, I'd like to think that aizawa just... takes a nap with the kids. god knows they all deserve it

You mean like...headcanons for their relationship/Demetri and Eli in general? Sure, I’ll take a stab at this! I have a bunch of miscellaneous headcanons for them anyways and have been looking for a place to put them, may as well post them here.

Fair warning that this is a bit of a disorganized mishmash of stuff I’ve thought up for them myself, headcanons I’ve seen others in the fandom make for them, and tropes that I’ve seen in fanfic that I really liked, so I kinda stole them to add to my own personal headcanon XD I may not be able to source all of them if asked...some of them I’m like “I genuinely don’t remember where I saw that, but I HELLA liked it” lol

~Demetri is like...RIDICULOUSLY good at coding. Eli is good at it too, but Demetri basically singlehandedly carried that coding competition they won. It was really more of a 70-30 effort, but Demetri consistently gives Eli 50% of the credit to try and help him feel good about himself and his capabilities. Demetri knows he did a bit more work than Eli, but he’s never once brought it up and he doesn’t plan to.

~Demetri looooooves cats. Like...the pretentiousness? The heightened sense of self-importance? The way they’re kinda misunderstood and often disliked because they can be mean, and don’t always show affection in the way people expect? The general air of annoyance and disdain they give off??? Demetri’s just like “yep, this is my animal right here.” XD Demetri doesn’t DISLIKE dogs, but he finds they can be a bit much sometimes, and likes that cats do their own thing a lot of the time.

~After getting the Hawk moniker, Eli lowkey got SUPER into hawks and birds of prey in general. Like he started watching documentaries on them and everything, and gushing to Demetri about how badass he thought they were. It even kinda verges into special interest territory (since Hawk/Eli is canonically probably autistic), although it’s not as all-consuming as some of his other ones. Back when he and Demetri are still on good terms, in the early days of “Hawk,” Eli rambles to Demetri about hawks and other “badass” birds a LOT when they’re hanging out. Eli only does this when he’s alone with Demetri because he’s a little scared to show THAT level of enthusiasm to anyone else, considering he’s trying to be a “tough guy” now. Demetri he still feels he can essentially be all of himself with, though. Demetri finds this new raptor obsession kind of hilarious but also kind of endearing.

~Demetri has a single mom who is lowkey overprotective and ends up coddling and sheltering him a lot. Demetri’s dad left when he was little, and his mom can be a bit overbearing because Dem is all she has left of his dad, in a sense. Because of this, Demetri definitely did NOT tell his mom Eli was the one who broke his arm. He said it was “some goon” from Cobra Kai, and said Eli wasn’t even there among the group that day. He knew if his mom knew Eli broke his arm, she would NEVER let Eli near him again, and would probably get a restraining order and possibly press charges. And Demetri just...REFUSES to give up on Eli, even after everything. He figures Kreese’s brainwashing and Kyler being in Cobra Kai are already putting Eli through a special kind of hell, and he wants to protect him from having even MORE things to deal with--in this case, the wrath of Demetri’s mom. And she never finds out Eli broke his arm--Demetri takes it to the grave.

~A little while after the Christmas party, Demetri and Eli resume their weekly sleepovers and try to make up for lost time. They decide not to pull out Eli’s Waterbed from storage, considering they both have pretty unpleasant associations with the waterbed after the incident at Moon’s party. They end up just sharing Demetri’s bed, like they used to when they were little and it wasn’t “weird” yet for two boys to sleep in the same bed. Maybe it’s weird now, but they figure as long as Demetri’s mom doesn’t blab to their friends or something that they’re sharing a bed, then it’s cool. Neither has any issue at all with sharing a bed, although they caaaaaan’t quite put their finger on why that is XD

~Eli actually gets nightmares about the laser tag arm incident more often than Demetri does. The fight will play out in a thousand different ways, but it always ends the same--with Eli pinning Demetri down and snapping his arm. Worse, sometimes he’ll have dreams that he’s beating up Brucks again, and then Brucks will slowly morph into Demetri, but Eli won’t be able to stop punching. He frequently wakes up panicking and screaming and crying during his and Demetri’s sleepovers, and Demetri just holds him and sooths him and wipes his tears off and reassures him that he knows Eli’s never going to hurt him again. 

~I actually imagine it’s on a night like one of these that they first get together--Eli wakes up from another nightmare, and Demetri is just hugging him really close and trying to reassure him, and at some point, Demetri just...impulsively leans in and kisses him. They both get super flustered for a second, and then Eli leans in and kisses Demetri super fiercely and before they know it, they’re making out like there’s no tomorrow. When they have to stop for breath, they admit they’ve always liked each other and just weren’t really sure how to say it. They spoon for the rest of the night, and are pretty much officially dating after that, although they’re kinda anxious about what people will think, so they keep it on the DL at first.

~Demetri has bad dreams too, but his are usually current--e.g. Eli reveals it was All An Act and he’s been spying for Cobra Kai, and doesn’t actually give a shit about Demetri. When Demetri wakes up from these at their sleepovers, he often can’t help but shake Eli awake, and rattle off a bunch of paranoid questions--”You actually like me, right? You actually wanted to be friends again, right? You don’t think I’m annoying? You don’t secretly hate me, after everything?” And this always kind of alarms Eli at first, because of how...out-of-character it is for Demetri to be that self-conscious about what people think about him, and for him to actally...well...care if people think he’s annoying XD But after a little bit Eli just puts his hand on Demetri’s shoulders and says “Demetri, I promise I want you back in my life.” And this is usually enough to calm Demetri down, because he knows it’s genuine, just like Eli’s apology at the Christmas party was.

~Eli is really, really terrified of hurting Demetri again. Sometimes Eli gets panic attacks when he and Demetri are sparring and he hits Demetri a little too hard. Demetri’s kind of come up with a “signal” for Daniel to indicate he and Eli need to take a break. Once Daniel figures out the situation, he’s more than happy to oblige. Demetri always helps Eli through his panic attacks and reassures him that he trusts him with his life now, no matter what happened before. 

~When Johnny finds out about this, he’s actually...way more understanding than anyone expects him to be, because Kreese traumatized him when he was young, too. He just kind of sighs like “Yeah, Kreese made me do some fucked up shit too, back in the day. He’s a bastard like that. You take a 10 whenever the hell you need, Hawk.” And honestly? Demetri lowkey loves Johnny for this. This may be the turning point that finally causes Demetri to view Johnny Lawrence with something other than mild to moderate disdain XD

~Demetri often makes a point of kissing Eli’s scar and telling him he thinks it’s beautiful. Hella corny, I know, but god knows Eli needs it. He kisses it in front of their friends, too, as kind of a way to reassure Eli “hey, I’m proud to be with you in your entirety, and I’m not at all ashamed of that aspect of you, even if you still are.” Eli definitely appreciates this, but he pretends he’s embarrassed by it and will often fall into a blushing, flustered mess when Demetri kisses his scar XD

How do you manage to enjoy the fandom even with all the antis and fandom drama? You seem to have it figured out, please share your secrets!

I mean, it's certainly not a perfect system, but I do have some tricks.

For one, I'm not someone who's afraid to block liberally. As someone who's rejection sensitive and has severe anxiety issues, and as someone who's also been blocked by blogs I really liked for one reason or another, I can assure you that you have nothing to feel guilty about for blocking whoever you need to in order to curate your internet experience. Another thing I do is that I always blacklist any anti tags almost as soon as I enter any new fandom. These two tricks are pretty well known, but I feel like a lot of people don't use them quite as much as they should, largely because of Tumblr's weird insistence on guilt-tripping people about the ways they engage with fandom. But seriously, as someone who's been on Tumblr for years, just block and blacklist as much as you want to or need to. It's fine.

Personally, for fandoms with shipping wars that I heavily multiship in, like SaB and FFVII, I use blacklisting more than blocking, because the fandom is usually so divided that it's hard to find neutral or respectful blogs, and I get the most content from simply avoiding well tagged posts. Anybody who doesn't tag correctly gets blocked, and that eliminates a lot of the people who want to bait or harass others. Cross-taggers are the worst parts of a fandom. People who are anti or don't like things for personal reasons and not harassing reasons are usually very good at tagging things correctly. They're respectful of others and just want to enjoy the content they like. That's amazing and I'm totally here for it.

Also creation tags are amazing! Going into the gifmaking tags is like a breath of fresh air. It's just pure creative heaven in tags like that. You can see everybody's labors of love for this thing they're passionate about without any of the drama. It's incredibly liberating. And its easy to realize in spaces like that that this is just a group of people who love a piece of art so much they dedicate their time to engaging with it and with the people who love it on a regular basis. The people that harass others and constantly abuse fans that like the things they don't, the worst people in the fandom, are always just a very loud minority. Remove them from the equation and you've got something beautiful.

Lol honestly though, I'm not the best person to come to for this kind of thing. A lot of it is simply the stuff I do outside of tumblr. When I get frustrated with fandom, I have my siblings to talk to or vent to. When I see an anti post that I'm not able to avoid, I'll simply post a lot of positivity in the tag instead. I devote a lot of energy to turning negative emotions into positive actions. Sometimes it doesn't work, but other times I'll see someone call the darkling homophobic and then go on a bisexual!Darkling positivity spree, gifset included XD. I also have Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder, so I pace and daydream a lot. It's stress relief to the highest degree for me, and it really helps. I go outside. I play with my niece. I discuss hcs with my fandom friends. A lot of this stuff is simply methods that work personally for me.

Honestly, when I read something really depressing I'll just like,,, go to sleep if I'm able to. A lot of this stuff should absolutely not be agonized over. Eat some food. Take a shower. Socialize. Take a nap. Get off of tumblr. Listen to some music. Watch a funny youtube video. If you're active in fandom, make some content about the things you like.

I'm really sorry if this isn't what you're looking for! Or if you were looking for something less serious and I ended up turning this into a ramble of epic proportions lmao. The truth is that I often have to disengage from fandom to remind myself there's more important stuff in the world, and that there are real people behind these screens. I love rewatching or re-engaging with the original content to remind myself why I love this thing in the first place. Writing fanfiction, creating gifsets, daydreaming about all of my elaborate and fluffy hcs - it all helps me remember that this is something I'm engaging with because I love it too, alongside so many others. Self reaffirmation. If you doubt the other people around you, look at why you're here and what brought you here. Anything that makes you feel unpleasant or bad about that, remove from the equation.

Nobunaga:

Honestly? You just loved the way the paint seems to splatter itself on the page.

No, before I properly begin, you don’t necessarily do traditional painting. You like the abstract ones. Like Piccasso… but not quite his style xD

Piccasso’s style… Would confused the shit out of NObunaga if you drew him in that style- I swear if you don’t paint him like that at least once, I’ll smack you xD

Anyway, your paints are precious to you. You know that Nobunaga might be able to get some oil paints for you, but acrylic paint has always seemed to be better for you. That, and you’ve gotten used to it.

On the night you arrive at Honnoji, you’re carrying your art satchel, filled with paint, a couple of canvases, and your beloved brushes. You were in Japan to paint some of the blooming cherry blossoms and scenery at the time.

Dragged into this mess of a Princess and chatelaine duties made you miss painting so badly. Even picking up a calligraphy brush reminded you of the calligraphy-brush style paintings you had been studying before you had arrived.

So you grab the a4-sized canvas and wander the hallways for days, as you search for the best thing to draw. Honestly? You’ve had to white the canvas multiple times simply because nothing seemed right.

That sakura tree in the corner of the castle gardens? Nope.

The bustling streets of Azuchi town in the middle of the day? Hm...

The Ghost of Mitsuhide, smirking wildly as he wanders down the hallways? Not that either.

Not even the pretty Mitsunari seemed to capture your attention for long.

Ironically though, you didn’t even think of paining the lord of the castle at first, perhaps because his ego didn’t need to be brushed up further? 

At the end of the day, you’ve decided to retire to your room, having wasted the whole day wandering the town and castle, listlessly, tirelessly and unsuccessfully seeking the perfect scene to paint.

Weirdly enough, just after dinner, you somehow end up outside the tenshu, peering through the gap the raven-haired lord left in the doorway.

What a sight, though, to see Nobunaga hard at work, that frown finally focused on something other than yourself. You’re suddenly filled with inspiration, and you set down opposite the gap, sketching the outline of exactly what you’re seeing: the gap between the doorway, and Nobunaga seated at his desk.

You know he can see you: You’ve spotted that all-knowing smirk of his. But he doesn’t speak or move until you begin to leave, having finally marked out the correct colours in pencil. 

“Fireball, you may enter the room if you wish-?”

Unsurprisingly, you had jolted at the sound of his voice and bolted from the opening of his door, leaving a baffled Nobunaga staring at your empty postion.

2 days later, you leave the completed painting on his desk, covered by a square of leftover fabric you had used to make the kimono you wore that day. 

He unveils it curiously, only because you didn’t leave a note of any kind. 

Honestly? He just kinda stares at it- curiously- since the painting seemed even more realistic than the ones circling at that time.

And he just laughs, leaving it hanging against the wall beside the Kimono you had made for him.

Mitsuhide:

Okay… So catching this one somewhere paintable is simply impossible. Believe yourself- You’ve tried.

In fact the only reason why you’re trying to paint Mitsuhide is: 1. You don’t have a camera, and 2, He’s just so ethereally beautiful and 3. He’s never lingered in somewhere pretty or ‘nice’ enough for a sufficient amount of time to even sketch him.

As for Mitsuhide, he, without a doubt, is teasing you. He’s seen the paint tubes you brought with you on that night you had first arrived in the Sengoku Era, and he’s seen that sketchbook- or rather paint-book- of yours, filled with random practice paintings of flowers you’ve spotted in the Azuchi gardens-

or Kyubei, which you had admittedly sketched multiple times. Why were both Lord and Vassal so pretty?

and has figured out their uses after stealing a blank page from your book and a couple of paint tubes. 

You’ve found that same torn page tucked within the pile of paperwork when he requested your assistance once.

It was kinda cute too: fingerprints and finger painting galore xD

You’ve also spotted paint residues of blue beneath his fingernails, much to your amusement.

Anyway… So you’ve been trying to paint an image of Mitsuhide with a parasol beneath a willow tree for awhile now… And it’s to the point where you’re tempted to just use your imagination bc he’s simply not letting you.

But you just snap at him, one day, after having had a VERY bad day. And he just… relents, standing statue-still despite you still grumbling beneath your breath with every glance towards him.

You stuff Kyubae into the image too bc he deserves to be immortalised in a painting with his lord….

It takes a week, on top of all your other duties, to complete the painting, and if that’s not the best painting you’ve ever painted, you’d be lying to yourself.

Honestly, even though he’s curious and teasing about it, Mitsuhide only finds out once you’ve completed the painting. Yes, he could’ve seen the painting at any time, but a part of him wanted to keep that as a reward for all his hard work.

He makes that adorable blushy pout when he later realises he simply could’ve asked you to see the painting: Kyubei’s seen it before he has.

You leave the painting on his desk under all the paperwork there is, knowing full well that his curiousity would get the better of him and he’d stop working-

It works, but only at the expense of your blush from his tease when he finds you in the kitchen with Masamune, rewarding yourself with Mochi.

He’s secretly proud of it, and it’s the only one he’ll willingly hang in his room.

Ieyasu:

Ehhhh…. This one’s kinda easy, okay?

So you’ve always wanted to paint Ieyasu with Wasabi. It’s been on your agenda ever since you first caught him playing with the baby deer 3 nights after your arrival in Sengoku Japan.

The only thing is, you’ll have to resort to using Traditional watercolour techniques, since you: 1. Had no paints on you, and 2, canvases didn’t exist back then. You could try to make one, but you swore it wouldn’t turn out as good as the store-bought ones.

So you do paint it. From your memory, and from whatever scenery you could draw from the Azuchi garden.

It’s pretty funny, actually: You know most of the Azuchi warlords are aware of what you’re up to. And by that, you mean all but Ieyasu, who claimed he couldn’t care less, and Mitsunari, that oblivious genius.

Nobunaga and Mitsuhide knows because they’ve been watching you, and Masamune and Ranmaru only knows because Hideyoshi found out.

Long story short, you’ve been neglecting yourself: forgetting meals and overall becoming a Mitsunari 2.0…. Hence the whole “Hideyoshi” thing.

Honestly, it’s a surprise the receiver of the painting doesn’t know. Usually Ieyasu would be the type to scold you with harsh words before you even get to painting him.

But not this time.

Actually, you’re certain he’s been avoiding you. For what reason? Who knows. But painting from memory was always a good mental exercise….

Ieyasu does find out eventually, but that’s simply because you purposely drag him out to the garden where you’ve hung the painted scene on a branch to allow it to dry.

He just sort of stands there surprised, before averting his gaze.

“This is what you’ve been doing the entire time?”

You don’t blame him for the blunt question since you rushed off to the location at any given time to continue the painting, pretty much neglecting anything but your sleep, chores and-

Honestly, being that tsundere-contrarian he is, he flicks you on the forehead while muttering a quiet “It’s good” with averted eyes.

You honestly should never have grinned that widely at his words, bc now he’s walking off while  blushing… and taking the painting with him :3

Kenshin:

You know better than to go behind Kenshin’s back. And by that, you mean “Oh-god-he’s-etherally-beautiful-but-also-a-yandere-so-I-must-gain-permission-to-paint-him-otherwise-he-might-kill-me-help”.

But honestly, it takes you awhile, simply because you’re not sure how to approach him- He’s always given you that sensation of “don’t-touch-me” xD

If it weren’t for Sasuke, who you had known for years, given you went to the same university and assisted him with some artist renditions of the night sky, you honestly would never have had the courage.

The question comes off as awkward. Very much so, since you had been, well, stalking him for days on end before he calls you out and you reply to him, nervously stuttering in response.

Kenshin doesn’t disagree with your request, however, choosing to just call for you whenever he suddenly feels bored.

It’s honestly chaotic and stressful, since he keeps changing position every few minutes…. ^-^’’

In the end you enlist  the help of Shingen, who was only willing to pose for you so he could stare at your expression~ xD

The rest of the time you spend painting is holed up in your room, which, by the way, confuses Kenshin since usually artists would force him to sit agonising hours of stillness just to capture his appearance.

So he goes looking for you.

It’s at a pretty ironic time too, considering you were just adding the finishing touches to the painting. Just some background colouring and details….

But Kenshin’s hovering over your shoulder and-

He compliments you with some VERY sugary words, while you’re wrapped up in his arms. Honestly it puts Shingen’s flirting to shame xD 

You’re warm, but to be fair you’ve left him pretty much unattended for the past week thanks to your want to paint.

Just cross your fingers he never asks you how exactly you managed to accurately paint the position he, in the painting, sat in.

Shingen would most certainly die from spending hours with Kenshin’s princess and love of his life-

Originally it was going to be “Queen of Gardens-Keep”, but then I got dragged into Dragon Ball and it ended up pretty quickly becoming a multi-muse blog. So I decided to try and change it to something that still fit the theme of a garden bc I.. really like thinking about my muses. Going back to them and seeing if anything new comes up or if there’s a HC that really fits them. Especially in the case of Dragon Ball, the characters have a tendency to appear shallow in canon so there’s a lot to build on to flesh them out as deeper more realistic figures.  Lowkey didn’t think I’d have so many DB muses I’m so sorry XD Idk if/when I’ll stop but I know Im gonna keep adding more muses.

eleven / ( inspiration for muse ): Ok hold onto your butts because there’s 10 of them:

Sotarra has been that muse I’ve had since I was 11 and first got into anime who gradually evolved into what she is today. Her roots are in Naruto and I really wanted to create.. a character who was not me, but what I wanted to be. Powerful, elegant, composed, knew always what to say. 

Mirin actually started as a Bleach OC and got left on the backburner for many years before I had an opportunity to flesh her out. I experimented with her on my first tumblr roughly 9ish years ago, which is now long gone thank god, and she interacted with a Vegeta who eventually took her on as a student. It really left a positive impression on me, so I think when I made this blog I thought she would fit right in with the DB verse given the freedom you can have with it. Tbh, I was shocked when how many people said they liked her.

Soju was created as my Xenoverse 2 character. I played the game with a friend and we came up with an entire backstory for her... which just ended up being Mirin getting sick of Broly’s shit and one timeline’s version of her getting strong AF in the time patrol just to kick his ass at a later date. I love her, she’s dead inside, she gives me Mandy from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy every time I write her and I love that.

Goten just kind of happened tbh? Blame Xenoverse and the brief clips in DBZ and DBS where he’s just a fucking bean and being a sweet boy.

Turles was for fun, I wanted to have a villain muse who was just “Man I love being evil bc I can”. 

Black, Gogeta, Cumber, and Bura are all thought experiments and “what if” scenarios followed by “well if you think about what they didn’t cover in the show this would be true’s”  that got so out of hand that they all eventually just became a muse. Like I said, I really like thinking about the what-ifs and things that the series don’t touch on.

Bardock.. honestly I didn’t see anyone playing him on tumblr and I wanted to change that. Also blame Xenoverse 2 for the gold interactions of him just being an asshole, tsundere, and bad dad. It was an opportunity for fun. Still working out the kinks and intricacies he has, but he’s here!

I've been having a bit of a shitty week, so this Ask brought some much needed lightness to my life, Anon. 

Well, I was thinking of something more cerebrally sexy with regards to Adam 'Bella Swan' Parrish and one or both of his Raven boys speechless and flushed at this image, set sometime during TRB in my HC. 

So Ronan or Gansey walk around to the back of the double wide, and instead of the diffident Adam Parrish they were expecting, they find this ridiculously long legged creature, sporting a tantalising happy trail and flashing the delicious curve of a compact but well-formed butt. Adam’s notoriously inhibited about his body, so the only reason they get to see miles of bare freckled skin is because it’s hot as hell and Adam wasn’t expecting company. 

(Tall drinks of water are supposed to quench your thirst, not turn it into a raging inferno. And it’s a filthy, filthy shame that Adam’s insecure about his body, because - holy shit - he could be a model for perfectly defined musculature.)

All the while, Adam is blissfully unaware of all the panic he’s causing in these closeted Aglionby hearts, because he’s totally preoccupied with them seeing his black eye. So he nervously keeps talking from under the vehicle, and the only thing hotter than the weather is his naked accent, dripping with sticky sweet honey.

And the fact that he's repairing a fucking car all tanned and practically naked should really be illegal in the state of Virginia, Gansey/Ronan think to themselves, weak with want.

Gansey already hero-worships Adam, knocking the symbolism for a six: “teach me how to patch up this sexy, sexy Camaro, Adam, which is a symbol of myself and everything I want to be, and also reminds me of you”.

Because the tragedy of being Richard Campbell Gansey the Third is that everyone’s expecting you to lead heroic quests and stand on perfect pedestals. But only you know how much of an unknowable mess you are. And all you truly want is for someone to take you in hand and figure out what’s wrong with you (because you sure as hell can’t) and fix your broken pieces. And if anyone can do it, it’s genius mechanic Adam Parrish.

And do we even need to go into Ronan’s Thing for cars, and petrol, and summer, and Adam's hands Taking Apart and Masterfully Manipulating various Dirty, Lubricated Parts? (The amount of sexual innuendo connected with Ronan in canon is pretty wild lmao - including but not limited to him being called Snake). A part of Ronan wants nothing more than to be allowed to take Adam’s greasy fingers into himself, and another part wants those endless, elegant legs wrapped tight around his waist.

So, as Gansey/Ronan stand dumbfounded at Adam’s feet, Kinsey scales are shook and they don't know where to look (except, they do, and they look). And the whole time Gansey is sweating into the collar of his Polo shirt (‘I really should’ve brought a handkerchief’) and Ronan wants to set something on fire, mainly himself.

For bonus points, both Gansey and Ronan are visiting Adam together, and they basically beat it to the Camaro in horny haste, to race home. But they get into a physical tussle about who gets to use the loo first (because Gansey needs privacy to beat off but Ronan needs a cold shower stat) and instead they end up burning off their sexual tension on each other, for lack of an Adam Parrish to worship.

Upcoming changes(?)

Okay, so I've been thinking about some updates and changes for my page, but I'm not sure whether to or how to implement them, but I'd rather detail them out so I don't forget- and so I can get input. But I'm hiding it under the cut because I have no clue how long this will be.

So! First things first- Some self-ship changes! Nothing too serious at first- I just decided that I need to detail a bit more of my headcanons- my S/I's, the setting, my interpretations of the bears... I guess I'll put up an S/I page, but make posts about the bears and setting(s)- and fanon blending. Shush, that comes later.

I keep seeing where people make ship tags and they're SUPER adorable! I want to make my own to make it easier on me, but it's going to take a lot of thinking of fun tags first. But I really want to! ...Am also open to friendly suggestions~

Should I make a tag page? Or a tag post? Help, how do I tumblr?

Also, I'm thinking about putting a custom theme on here, but I have zero clue how they work. Another thing to figure out, I guess!

Secondly- secondary blogs! I must admit, an intimidating idea to me. Not really certain how they work, but I'm willing to try~ After all, I want to make a place to put all my delicious citrus-flavored self-shipping without scaring my NaNo friends or anyone else that is potentially squikked out by that sort of thing. As a sex-repulsed person (when it comes to RL people together), I understand this greatly and don't want to subject people to that that didn't sign up for it. (or aren't supposed to yet, minors.)

The real question is whether I should move ALL my self-shipping there and start anew or not. Honestly, this main blog is mostly for writing and self-shipping, the two halves of my whole (beyond family, that is); it felt strange to try and separate them. So that's why my main blog IS my self-ship blog. And I like the idea of my risqué stuff being separated from my softer self-shipping... So- I dunno!

Kenshin: 

A boy…. then a girl... I think.

So I stan an overprotective father here for his daughter, in the very least.

That’s not because his son is ‘too weak’- It’s the fact that culturally and in that time period, he’s supposed to be the stronger one.

Kenshin teaches him the art of sword-fighting from the age of 5, but soon realises that he’s much more into Senbon and, well… Flowery stuff. It’s good, in a way, since his son has quite the feminine face shape and your eyes. It’s a very good thing, actually. He’d make a successful ninja- 

So that’s what he becomes, xD 

Together with Sasuke, Kenshin trains him in the art of ninja skills. It’s significantly more interesting to him, maybe because you’ve told him random stories you’ve read from your time. 

There’s fluff time too- You pretty much bring all the warlords together and teach them how to sew. Yuki too, because Shingen and you have told him it’s the exact same thing as sewing a wound and practice is good.

Kenshin’s baby girl is a complete treat to the whole family.

You know she’s bound to be spoiled in the same way as you- With probably twice as much gifts as he gives you, and his special fatherly-love.

“I hope you remember she’s a baby, Kenshin… No stop- A dagger isn’t suitable for a baby-”

So it’s a lot of cooing, playing with toys given to her by both Shingen and Kenshin and cuddles… 

YES CUDDLES ARE EVERYTHING-

Ironically or not, the boy also becomes protective of his mother and his younger sister, no matter how young he is. He’s spent quite a bit of time with Kenshin, after all.

Ngl, but I think when the girl is older, she’s not gonna like the over-protectiveness. So expect a lot of ninja work by her brother, joined by Sasuke bc Kenshin doesn’t trust everyone to be safe xD

She still, notices them tho….

Nobunaga: 

A son… I mean what did you expect?

So Nobunaga and his son are the most endearingly domineering… pair?

I mean your son’s personality stems directly from Nobunaga, despite having your looks and that does make you wonder why, since you spend the most time with him.

Nobunaga’s probably the busiest man on Earth. So when he does find time to spend with his son, they’re the most mischievous pair. You’re not even surprised when Masamune joins in one day, with Mitsuhide just chucking away at the sight.

Hideyoshi doesn’t even try when they get to this messy point, and to be fair neither do you. If you stopped them, they’d casually rope you into the mess.

You’ve long learnt to leave them be when they’re like this.

You pretty much take over the castle when they’re playing- Can’t have the castle’s structure falling apart because of a handful of idiots, right?

Hideyoshi still hasn’t learnt his lesson, it seems-

The two of them are always thieving konpeito from the kitchens and screwing around the castle in the most ridiculous ways.

You swore they had somehow once gotten hold of some black paint (or was that charcoal?), only to end up fully covered in the colour…

You only found out after nearly giving Nobunaga a back massage- His back was COVERED in the pigment. Obviously, your son had dropped a handful and some down his clothes and back.

Honestly? You just sighed at their antics and dragged him by the ear to the bathhouse. And you can’t even say anything when he drags you in, fully clothed.

When Nobunaga does spend time with his son, the adrenaline and joy just lasts until the following morning when he’s slept it off. It’s very different from the type of adrenaline from war- Less stress and fear, and more joy and… out of control actions.

So expect an extremely hyper Nobunaga when you both retire to your bedroom…

Mitsuhide: 

A girl. I don’t budge. … Okay, maybe a baby boy in the future, but for now? Just a baby girl.

So Mitsuhide’s one of those ‘I-never-expected-to-be-this-happy’ or ‘I-never-expected-to-one-day-have-a-family-of-my-own’ warlords.

So when you announce you were having a baby, he just… freezes. Like one of those signature ‘holy-crap-what’ freezes. 

He’s so silent you swore you broke him. But when you reach out to press a hand against his cheek, he turns, presses a deep, loving kiss to your palm. He’s exceptionally gentle with you now as he draws you to his chest, thanking you for every miracle you’ve given him.

So I also headcannon that Mitsuhide’s the epitome of practicality y’all… Like he’s so busy he doesn’t have time for anything he deems ‘useless’... or will he buy things that will never be used.

So expect some gender-neutral toys and tiny clothes for your young one, even before she’s born.

Did I mention he’s also quite protective of you? That doubles or triples when he finds out you’re pregnant. And again, when he finds out it’s a girl after birth.

Literally. It has to be either him or Kyubei with you and the ‘little one’. AT ALL TIMES.

Mitsuhide’s the only one he’ll allow to care for the your- and his- daughter when you’re busy with something. On occasion, it’s Kyubei, but it does mean that he and his daughter must be in the same room.

More than often, this ends up with Mitsuhide being W E A K for his daughter’s laugh and dropping his work- That can always be finished later, after all.

Dress up. Make up. Toys. Games. Anything. Mitsuhide would literally kill for some time with his daughter.

When she was younger, Mitsuhide used to cradle her against his chest, whispering sweet stories or singing to her as she giggled from the vibration of his low voice.

Now that she’s older, he spends his time with her carefully. Teaching her with gentle teasing- Something she’s become accustomed to 

NGL, but Kyubei ends up being her ‘older brother’ figure when she grows up.

The look on Mitsuhide’s face when she says she wants to marry Kyubei is gold.

Just don’t let Masamune hear okay?
