In The Case of the Bogus Books, Perry and Della look very happy with the outcome of the case. Once again, the Triumphant Trio gets justice for the wrongly accused and gets the real perpetrator to admit his guilt!! I love that!! ❤️ Even if it's just fiction, it's nice to see justice prevail!! ⚖️

I gotta admit that the crime was brilliantly executed. Thankfully, Perry, Paul, and Della figured it out!!

The Princess and the Goblins first edition (1920)
finally remembered I was going to post photos. it's in pretty damn good condition for a shockingly cheap first edition. not pristine obviously but the binding is in decent shape and the pages are clean
also I love love love old notes in books. look at this:

in 1924 someone inscribed this to their son, and 100 years later, I'm lovingly placing it on my shelf and sharing that inscription. books like this are where our souls linger, I think.
#I love this so much#I got it sort of on accident I was trying to find the illustrations I remember from my childhood and I couldn't find enough images to tell#because all I could remember was one specific image#and I thought these original illustrations might have been it#(they weren't but that's okay bc I love this)#(I did find the one I was looking for too it was a limited run from the 1980s which is why it was hard to find)#the princess and the goblins#antique books#first editions#books I love

I am devastated. My local comic book store is shutting down (TT.TT) Comfort me Tumblr.
I had been trying to order a variant cover for a comic I saw on Tumblr for about two weeks. The computer was down for the second week but they told me to come and try again the following week. So, I just mozy on over with my sister in the car to make a quick order the following week.... just to see CLOSING all over the windows.
Not gonna lie I kept wondering i it was my fault...did I not buy enough comics due to the inflation everwhere else?! was that why I hadn’t see as many new issues on display!
The owner told me he got a really good offer from Delta for a job he couldn’t bring himself to refuse(whether is the airline or the bank i didn’t ask) and that he was closing this chapter of his life.
Something understandable and I’m happy for the guy but damn it I wasn’t prepared for this loss! It was a good distance from where i live! not too close but not too far. I knew how to get to it without GPS!
and it wasn’t large enough to be overwhelming. The big stores are nice but I could browse the entire store fairly quickly.
(If i go to a place thats too large with too many things I feel like the little brother of the Witch from Terry Pratchett who loves candy but when been given too much candy or brought into a candy store is overwhelmed and distressed at the possibility. because part of the bro senses that no matter how much he tries he might not be able to eat all the candy and is overwhelmed on where to start....frozen not being able to eat the candy at all in the existential horror of the situation).
I also did not prepare for a sale of liquidation of those comics? do I go in and get as much as I can? or pace myself since I never planned the need to get so many comics so DON’T give into the sale bug
Damn it I don’t want to go to Dave’s Comics! its close enough to be a option to consider by definitely far away enough to be a actual inconvenience! and its large! I got lost in there once!
The first edition’s comic store will always be in my heart...and now forever in my memories.
bright side is the owner said “the worst thing about this is telling my customers. Its like breaking up with 800 people!” which is just hilarious on principle.

favorite stan twins characterization is that they're both equally insane. stanley just gets more air time to show it off. loosely inspired by a post i read earlier but here's some absolutely insane things both of them have done
stanley:
drugged a person and turned them into an exhibit in the mystery shack
had a vegas wedding to a prospector-themed novelty dispenser
gave mabel a grappling hook
failed to steal an animatronic badger
chewed his way out of the trunk of a car
punched at least three bald eagles
is multiply divorced, possibly even with the novelty dispenser
committed premeditated murder on a llama
faked a heart attack to get on Wheel of Fortune
took his clothes off in front of a live studio audience on Wheel of Fortune
has a rivalry with a fifth grader, a grandmother, and a man who exclusively dresses like a corn cob
stanford:
pulled a gun on a bus driver when he wouldn't let a pig on board
directly assisted in mind-controlling ronald reagan during his election in 1980
gave mabel a crossbow
got bitten by a vampire bat and subsequently began sampling human blood
owns contraband outlawed in 9000 dimensions; keeps it in an extremely flimsy plastic case
"accidentally" set a hawk on fire
has exes ranging from as normal as his old college buddy to as weird as a triangle and an alien with 7 eyes who put a metal plate in his head
wears turtlenecks because he's hiding multiple tattoos he regrets, including one themed around "all star" by smash mouth
is an Extremely wanted criminal across hundreds of dimensions; was completely kicked out of one for card counting
is, bizarrely, super into the band Eurythmics
can see shrimp colors

The Abundant Way: Living a life with Jesus Christ
Have you ever thought about what kind of world we are currently living in? A world that consistently equates abundance with wealth, status, and success? Some of you may not know your purpose in life or have even questioned why God placed you on this earth. What devastates me the most is hearing people say that their lives lack meaning or wish they had never be put onto this earth.
There is good news that I have to share with you. Jesus invites us into something far greater—a life of true abundance rooted in Him. This abundant life isn’t about having more things, but about embracing what truly matters: peace that surpasses understanding, joy that endures through trials, purpose that gives each day meaning, and a deep, abiding relationship with the Savior. Living the abundant way with Jesus Christ means walking in His grace, trusting His guidance, and finding contentment and fulfillment in His presence—no matter what life brings. Let's explore what it means to fully embrace this life and how you can experience the richness of Christ every day.
What is the Abundant Life?
The abundant life is defined as a way of living a life filled with purpose, peace, and joy that comes from a deep relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not defined by outward circumstances, material gain, or a perfect, problem-free existence. Instead, it is about a spiritual richness that flows from knowing Him intimately and living in the freedom, peace, and purpose that only He provides.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells His disciples that He is the good Shepard and He is the door of the sheep. Jesus gives us abundant life as our Shepard and we should follow and live it as His sheep.
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" - John 10:10 (KJV)
The abundant life isn't all riches and gold, it is about living a full meaningful life in connection to God. It is not something we earn. It is a gift of grace, received by faith. As Christians, We are commanded to live the abundant life each day allowing Jesus to reshape our hearts and direct each step.
Before the Abundant Life: Life Without Christ
Before knowing Jesus, many people live in a cycle of searching but never truly finding. This is known as being a "lost person" where living a life without Christ feels empty, no matter how full it looks on the outside. We might chase success, relationships, money, or approval, hoping these things will bring happiness. But without a relationship with the One who created us, life can feel like it’s missing something vital—peace, purpose, and lasting joy.
Having a lack of peace, purpose, and joy in life can lead some of us into deep depression or even questioning our purpose in life. Before I got saved, I was battling brain cancer and had multiple sick days and time away from school. The misery I felt from the effects of chemotherapy led me to become depressed. In fact, I was angry at God for allowing me to suffer with my cancer diagnosis, and I did not feel any peace whatsoever.
Before salvation, we were all spiritually dead because of sin. Sin separates us from God and leaves us without spiritual life direction. Being spiritually dead can result in emptiness, confusion, and a lack of peace no matter how "alive" we look on the outside.
"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins" - Ephesians 2:1 (KJV)
What Defines Living the Abundant Life
The day you got saved is when everything changes. Jesus becomes the Lord of your life! You're no longer just surviving—you’re truly living! As you walk and live the abundant life, it becomes anchored. The following elements define what it means to live an abundant life with Jesus.
1) A relationship with Jesus
This walk with Jesus is about following Him and having a relationship with Him. It is not about following a religion as Jesus Christ is the vine and we are the branches
"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing" - John 15:5 (KJV)
2) Peace and joy that don't depend on circumstances
Even in the midst of chaos, the abundant life is marked by a deep feeling of peace and joy that the world can't give or take away. Jesus offers peace to this world that we do not deserve. When we walk closely with Jesus, we are never alone.
Whenever we find ourselves in a storm or a trial, we are like Peter from the New Testament. Peter had the boldness to walk on water, but fear crept over him as he began to sink. Ultimately, Peter cried out to Jesus for help, and Jesus stretched out His hand to save Peter and give him peace amid the storm that he is in.
Jesus gives us peace no matter situation that we are in. The peace that He gives us is personal, long-lasting, and supernatural.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" - John 14:27 (KJV)
3) Purpose and Direction
Jesus gives our lives eternal meaning when we live abundantly with Him. He provides us with purpose by restoring our identity. Through Jesus, we are no longer defined by our past; we are now God's children. Jesus commanded His disciples to love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul as well as to love your neighbor as yourself. As God's children, we have a purpose to do the same thing. Jesus gave us this eternal mission to fulfill in our everyday lives.
Not only does Jesus give us purpose, but He also provides direction in our lives. We are not aimlessly wandering around by ourselves and getting lost as we seek our destination. Jesus serves as our tour guide as He directs us through our decisions, struggles, and personal growth. God has a plan for our lives, and we are called and guided to follow and live according to His will.
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them" - Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
4) Freedom from Sin and Shame
Abundant life means walking in the freedom of God's grace. We are no longer bound by who we are, but transformed by who He is. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus broke the power of sin over us. He took our shame to the cross and gave us a new identity: forgiven, redeemed, and beloved. In Jesus, we are no longer controlled by our old habits or guilt. When we stumble, God's grace picks us up. We are not living in the fear of failure; instead, we walk in confidence, knowing that we are being made new.
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit" - Romans 8:1 (KJV)
5) The Fruit of the Spirit
A life with Jesus produces lasting spiritual fruit. Living out the fruit of the Spirit means that your life reflects the character of Jesus. This is not defined by our own efforts, but solely through the work of the Holy Spirit within us. It serves as outward evidence of an inward transformation.
Bearing the fruit of the Spirit demonstrates that your life stands out. You begin to live differently from the world, treating others with love and yielding to the Holy Spirit. As you abide in Jesus and live abundantly through Him, you will start to notice a change in yourself. You are no longer the bitter, selfish, and prideful person you once were. Now, in Christ, you are a gentle, humble, and forgiving child of God.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" - Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
6) Eternal Hope
The abundant life is not only for now - it is for eternity! Jesus gives us hope that is unshakable and eternal. When we place our faith in Him, we are promised eternal life with Him. This world is not our final destination; heaven awaits us, where we will dwell with God forever. In heaven, we will have no pain, sin, or sorrow!
Eternal hope changes how we live now. We are given courage to obey, strength to preserve, and a desire to live with purpose. Living with the assurance of eternal hope shows that our lives matter both now and forever. With Jesus, your future is secure, your purpose is clear, and your soul is anchored in hope.
"Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil" - Hebrews 6:19 (KJV)
How to Live the Abundant Life
Now that you know what defines the abundant life, you may wonder, "How do I live it?". Living abundantly with Jesus is apart of walking daily with Him and being anchored in truth. Here are some recommendations for you to live more abundantly with Jesus:
1) Abide in Christ daily
True abundance with Jesus flows from being connected to Him as He is the source of life. This can include reading your Bible, spending time in prayer, worshiping, and even listening to His voice. Having that connection with Jesus can bring you joy and satisfaction throughout your day.
2) Walk in the Spirit
Remember when I mentioned that God is our tour guide? That is because we have the Holy Spirit that is within us. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, it gives us life and breaks unholy things of our past selves. Walking in the Holy Spirit can empower you to live differently and to set apart from the world. Such examples of those can include cutting off listening to secular music or even dressing more modestly. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and give you wisdom on what things you have to let go or things you need to change.
3) Trust God in Every Season
Let's be real here. Our walk with God isn't all sunshine and rainbows! Shocking right!?
We are all going to encounter difficult storms and trials in our lives. When we are in a trial, the first thing we would always do is often to ask God, "Why?" or "Why me, out of everyone else? The season we are in is a blessing or a hardship. We must remember that we have peace and joy because our lives are anchored in Jesus. Trust God in all things and know that He is in control of every situation.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" - Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)
4) Stay in Community
We all grow together in the abundant life. As children of God, we ought to lift each other up and encourage one another in our walk with Jesus. Surrounding ourselves with fellow believers can encourage, challenge, and support us in our faith. Getting involved in a church community is the best way to connect with local Christians, as you gather in God's house to worship together.
If you are still struggling to find Christian fellowship, I recommend exploring Facebook groups that hold local or virtual Bible study sessions for you to attend. Another option is to download Christian social media or dating apps to connect with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and build meaningful relationships.
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching" - Hebrews 10:24-25 (KJV)
Conclusion
When you have an abundant life with Jesus, you gain a profound sense of purpose, knowing that you are placed on this earth for a reason. By choosing the abundant path, you opt for truth over lies, peace over fear, purpose over confusion, and grace over guilt. You have a sense of hope and peace knowing that in Christ, you are loved unconditionally and secured eternally. You were made for more than just survival—you were made for abundance in Christ!
So today, my friend, whether you are just beginning or renewing your walk with Jesus, embrace that life. Step into His freedom. Receive His love. Trust His plan. Walk the abundant way, one day at a time, with your Savior by your side.
If you have never made the decision to follow Jesus, you can start right now! The abundant life begins with saying yes to the One who gave His life for you. He’s not asking for perfection—just your heart. It's all about having faith in the blood that Jesus shed for you on the cross, which secures your place in heaven. It is never too late to turn to Jesus and begin an abundant life with Him.
