Flower in video game
Something I love in video game is the use of flowers in them.As a florist (cause yeah that's my real job besides posting stupid memes and then disappearing for months) I love seeing some flower species in some games and I like it even more when creators decide to create their own species so I can try to find their ''in out world" counterparts.
In Undertale we have the ''Golden flowers''
Golden flower that I like to identify as Buttercups
It's the most obvious one since it's canonically accurate and it's looks the same.
Some others flowers from game that I love a lot share the same shapes and it's so obvious to know what they actually are.
So we have the ''Yellow flowers'' from final fantasy 7 , the ''Lunar Tears" from Nier automata (Nier saga/Drakengard) and the "Silent Princess" from Zelda respectively.
Beside sharing some emotional importance in the lore and being used as power up or/and heal object. It's actually inspired from the same flower.(Even people who don't know much about flowers know this one)
Here comes the lily's
I think this one is the most obvious one but I've also found some real counterpart for the Silent princess.
The blue tiger variety is the closest one that looks Exactly like the ''Silent princess".
I found this one a bit tricky and it's The Delicate Flower from Hollow Knight
This one looks like a basic flower and at first I honestly thought of it as a chrysanthemum
Since those the Delicate flower is associated with death and grief (Because of the secondary quest of Hollow knight that wears the same name as the flower, you have to put one of those one the grave of a child). In real life, Chrysanthemum are often the kind of flowers that you saw on graves and are often used for this kind of events.
BUT (because yeah, there's a but)
It doesn't look quite the same and peoples seems to find the perfect real counterpart.
The flannels flower, it's looks pretty the same. (Even the shapes of the petals match!)
Now for those waiting for me to talk about kingdom hearts well...
There's no really any created flower in kh.
Of course we have Marluxia, the recurrent use of Roses or some other flowers on some keyblades.
I could also talk about those flowers that no one cares in the background of some worlds
I could also sit down and theorising for years about the "Kairi's flower crystal heart thing" (oh look another lily in a cool game !)
And I could also talk about the fact that Xion have her name directly inspired from the Shions, a variety of Asters. (This panel hurt)
And I could also talk about the capital importance of the Dandelion in Union X as much as peoples than as flowers
(Looks he's literally holding one !)
And of course I could talk about Strelitzia
Strelitzia are also known as "Bird of paradise". (Paradise= After Death = Quadratum= Kh4)
But there's no really any ''created flower'' that exist in the kh Verse but there's a hope.
The paopu fruit
This one is pretty symbolic. But I tried to search a real counterpart for this fruit and Bingo! Here's the star fruit.
(It actually look as a star only if it's cut.)
Since you should know, fruit comes from flowers so what does the star fruit flower look like then ?
It looks like this ! So now we have a small idea of what a Paopu flower must look like !

Alright so after having looked through hypnos’ new design I have something to say. The poppies.
So I’ve already seen someone post about this ( @blamethecows-draws ) and yes!! Poppies do symbolize his son, but they are also closely related to Hypnos himself. Now I’m not sure how they were in terms of Ancient Greece (unfortunately my Ancient Greece knowledge is shaky at best), but I am aware of this particular painting from 1874: Sleep and his Half-Brother Death
In this painting, Hypnos (depicted closest to the audience) holds a few poppies in his hand. Poppies, to my knowledge, were flowers that symbolized not only him as a god, but also death (hence why Thanatos is there too)
What’s interesting, though, is that poppies also symbolize a hope for a more peaceful/calm future. I think that this potentially could tie into the whole PLOT of the game, which is trying to take down the calamity that Kronos has caused
So tldr: poppies symbolize death, the God Hypnos, and hope for a calm future, which is kinda the whole plot of Hades II
