My own Baron von Glower headcanons because my brain said so

- His estate is surrounded by nature,and his backyard just so happens to lead into the forest (you CANNOT tell me a rich werewolf would own something like that, also we never see the outside of his estate so I can headcanon WHATEVER I WANT :P)

- Also, his estate is located at the very edge of Munich, as far away from the city as humanly possible

- Instead of drying his hair with a towel like a normal Human™️, he shakes. Ya know, like how a dog does after it gets wet.

Its a legend that Friedrich took over Jerusalem from al-Kalim by playing chess and winning against the sultan, which is a nod to Friedrich moving very elegantly politically. In Wolfs case she therefor ended up beeing a chesspiece in that metaphorical chessgame, since she took part  in the crusade specifically not helped by the pope and specifically peacefull and sloved with politics and not battle.

More GK blubbering bc OFC

So I went on Youtube again. Clicked on GK2, picked the first Twitch stream I could find and BOOM, another player picking up on the oh so very subtle gay “undertones” (They’re more blunt about it than ANY BioWare game was about a MLM pairing until ME3 in 2012. Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within came out in 1995.) between our hero and the much tormented but dazzling antagonist.

Frigging Sierra Online and blessed Jane Jensen told a story like this DECADES before it became “accepted” - bc there’s still quite a bit of pushback, sadly - only to then pull out at the LAST SECOND and do a No Homo swerve because this WAS 1995 and I have never been more INSULTED by an Epilogue cutscene in a game BEFORE or SINCE.

“I don’t want to be like that!” Gabriel says mournfully after waxing lyrical about the Baron to her (Which she won’t buy, but why did she ask about him then? GRRRRRRRR) while completely ignoring her doe eyes and cuddles (C’mon, Gracie, let the man grieve!)

And THEN they had to add insult to injury by not only having Gabriel regress to his sleazy, sometimes downright creepy towards women (Poor Madeline, voiced by a baby Jennifer Hale, that’s right, COMMANDER SHEPARD was in this!) but completely ignore how much this experience has rattled Gabriel’s deepest beliefs, principles and, dare I say it, his straightness. Would Tim Curry have refused to voice a bi/pan Gabriel? Given that he was in The Rocky Horror Picture show I somehow doubt it. The only GK2 reference I remember from him in GK3 is a dumb hairy knuckles joke. GK3 really is the darkest timeline, even though Jane Jensen using the Holy Grail/Jesus bloodline storylines before Dan Brown did sure was clever.

All that being said, I am DELIGHTED to see more people discover this GEM of a game. For all its FMV jankiness and a couple of strange puzzles, the storyline and Peter J. Lucas’ mesmerizing performance elevate it above...A LOT OF GAMES even today. It’s like less than ten bucks on GOG, get it, PLAY IT AND CRY WITH ME PLZ.

Anyway, bc I was a loud fangal in the early oughts, I’ll leave this here for you and esp. @poptart-cat-78 and @imperiius, it’s a lil’ video I made when I started writing my fix it fic. The editing is...what it is, but I’m still proud of it.

Is it too late to do this for 2023? I don’t remember who started this, but I got the template from @piraterefrigerator. Here are my Top 5 Blorbos of 2023!

1.) Baron Friedrich von Glower (the Gabriel Knight series) - Do I even need to explain? My hyperfixation on this series is so real. He’s a queer werewolf who just really wants a boyfriend, he’s been lonely for like 200 years. Was done dirty by the writer, and deserves better.

2.) Percy Jackson (the Percy Jackson series) - surprisingly knocking down Emma a spot, Percy comes back as a comfort character because of the new tv series. He’s dumb. He loves his mom. He wants the gods to pay child support. He’s THE Percy and my middle school self is having the time of her life.

3.) Emma Swan (Once Upon A Time) - She’s a comfort character so I still think about her. Especially now that I’m noticing the parallels between her and Percy in the show. I’ll try to rewatch OUAT while I wait for the next PJ episode. I still adore her character development and her relationship with Killian Jones/Captain Hook

4.) Cheshire Cat (Alice’s Warped Wonderland version) I recently just finished another let’s play of this game, so I’m thinking about him again.

5.) Mae Borowski (Night in The Woods) - Haven’t played the game in the while, but I still think about her, especially during November.

Let’s see who makes the list next year and if I gain any new blorbos in 2024!

One of Wolfs most precious posessions- or more accurate her most precious posession since she is pretty much propertyless- is a small leatherpuch she wears on a leather- cord around her neck. Normally a legitime way to carry money, Wolf had been carrying that small pouch since she had been fourteen years old. Around May of 1212 when Nikolaus Crusade reached the alp the crusade was suppose to cross to reach Genua. Obviously crossing the alps without any food supplies or let alone proper attire ended up in a catastrophe and many of the children either left or died. At this time Wolf had already been traveling with a certaine group of young teengers with whom she had become friends and for which she had started months ago to steal from and rob people for food for them. The children, very much by now confronted with their own mortality ended up all making such a small pouch with strain of hair of each so in the case they would not survive crossing the alps, a part of them would travel along with their friends.

It was also this group of children who brought Wolf into the italian cloister when Wolf fell ill with the pox. Wolf has no idea what had happned with her friends as she was at that time too sick or not able to register what was happening around herself. In her mind she had fallen asleep very sick in the cloister with her friends aorund her  and woke up one year later on a slavemarket in Pisa with poxscars on her whole body, but healthy yet with all her friends nolonger there.

Years later (1228, Wolf is 30) when Wolf joins Friedrich II  as a Medicus ( more accurately a inofficial Memeber of the Lazarus Order, due to her beeing touched by the pox and having great expierence working with leprosy. Nolens volens, she still wore a black and green tabbard.) on his peaceful crusade to Jerusalem were he and al-Kamil came together to set the peace of Jaffa, she leaves the small pouch in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Finally making sure her friends reached Jerusalem, Wolf eventually left Jerusalem to return to italy on her own.
