Do you any headcanons on Raine and Eberwolf's palismans?

Fruit bat for Raine and Badger for Eberwolf. Raine’s has a more smooth angler carving technique, Eberwolf more rough whittling type. Both sent to the Bat Queen for safety when becoming coven heads.

Unique Bat Beast Raine AU

I'm sure that most of you have heard about the TOH AU's where Raine has a similar curse to Eda's that turns them into a Bat Beast. Well, I came up with a unique take on this concept.

Raine was not directly cursed, but one of their ancestors was, and the descendants inherited it. This idea was inspired by the common fanfic prompt of Eda having a child who inherited her curse.

The Bat Beast has a similar body shape to the Owl Beast: four legs and a pair of bat wings. They resemble a flying fox - a type of fruit bat with a fox-like face - to allude to Raine's fox Palisman. Their version of Harpy Mode is called Dhampir Mode, and they are taller than Witch Eda but shorter than Harpy Eda.

Raine has several special abilities due to their curse; they can get a power boost by drinking blood (they don't like doing that too often), and they have the ability to Charm/Hypnotize people with their voice or music. Besides that, they have standard bat powers like echolocations and enhanced hearing.

Anyway, the original cursed ancestor went through a lot of the same issues with their curse that canon Eda did - except for losing their magic, as Magic Decay is an ability of the Owl Beast that the Bat Beast doesn't have - before they made peace with their Bat Beast, so the Whispers family would know how to help Eda control her curse.

The main obstacles are Gwen wanting to "cure" Eda of the curse rather than Eda learning to live with it and Eda being afraid of facing the Owl Beast. But seeing how cool Raine looks in their version of Harpy Mode would help encourage her to try. As for Gwen, she is very stubborn and set in her ways, but they finally manage to convince her by pointing out that even if there is a cure, it might take a long time to find it, so it's best for Eda to learn control for now.

So, Eda gains her Harpy Form in her teens, and because she made peace with the Owl Beast so early, she is not at risk of losing her magic. She can still lose control in stressful situations, so she still drinks the Elixirs but not daily as in canon. It's the same thing with Raine's curse; they can still lose control and involuntarily transform into the Bat Beast in stressful situations.

It would be interesting if the Clawthornes and Whispers discover that Lilith was the one who placed the curse on Eda. Maybe one of Raine's parents noticed Lilith looking guilty or something and approached her about it, leading to Lilith confessing.

Eda is furious at Lilith for cursing her but forgives her more easily than in canon because she knows that Lilith had not intended to curse her and because Lilith has not done any other of the terrible things she did in canon yet. Lilith might even share the curse with Eda and gain her own Harpy Form sooner as well.

Eda still becomes a Wild Witch, and Lilith still joins the Emperor's Coven. Belos still offers to heal Eda's curse if Lilith captures her, but Lilith might not be so eager to accept the offer since Eda lives fine with her curse. Or maybe Lilith still feels guilty and thinks curing Eda will make up for what she did.

Eda and Raine do not break up because Eda is more comfortable with the Owl Beast and has someone who understands her. Raine would still join the Bard Coven because they want to be a teacher and later form their rebellion with Eda as co-leader.

The Bat Beast and the Owl Beast see each other as mates, and this applies to the other's witch counterparts. This means that the Owl Beast is affectionate with Raine, and the Bat Beast is affectionate with Eda.

Just to be clear, no one knows that Raine has a curse like Eda's because the Whisper family has kept it a secret for fear they'd be persecuted. If Lilith splits the curse between Eda and herself, then she also keeps it hidden from Belos and the Emperor's Coven.

Her name is Bluebelle, or just Blue, her little sister Pekoe, and her Mom Chamomile (Plant Coven gal). What happened to papa? Who tf knows really, I'm leaning towards him being a wild witch who went "missing" one day. This of course scares the heck out of Chamomile because now her eldest is also out being a hooligan doing wild magic. Blue went to hexside, but was only good when it came to magic with food, and she learned a lot from her mom with plant magic so she has some basics in that. Let's see if we can get a food related thing for each coven shallll we??

Abomination- Great protection from heat, nothing like an abomination goo oven mitt. Also great for stretching to get to high up ingredients.

Bard- well we know that whistling can mess with the components in liquids, so that's pretty clear cut. But also?? What about using sound mess with the consistency of actual food?? A whipped icing that is so light it's practically a cloud? The smoooothiest cheesecake ever?

Beast Keeping- here beautiful bees gimme some tasty fire honey 💕💕💕💕

Construction- let's go outside and make a brick oven! The perfect pizza stone! A beautiful candy making slab!!

Healing- what baker hasn't burnt themselves?

Illusion- suuuuper useful for planning out beautiful cakes before actually attempting them. Like a rough draft but with no clean up!!

Oracle- kind of a way to make sure a delivery isn't actually going to be a set up. But truthfully not her strength lol

Plant- hell yeah plants. Her mom runs the main bakery out of the house with a huge garden out back so she had the freshest ingredients for the pastries. Blue listened well as a child and she does know a little bit about it. But she definitely focuses on the tasty plants, lots of fruit trees, sugar substitutes, grains. She has some sort of mini fruit tree in her room that she adores

Potions- the big one. Potions have the biggest opportunity to be added into bakery items, because what is batter if not a thick potion?? XD Blue does definitely have a knack for making really fancy baked goods using combinations of magic and ingredients to give effects to whatever she makes. I am a big fan of her making house calls and curating specifically ordered pastries for well paying customers

Blue knows Morton I think XD I feel like they would share a weird little rivalry, because Blue would 100% think she could make the elixirs taste good, and him being tired of her trying (and potentially taking his customers)

Little witch gal lives in a bakery with her Mum, working most of the time to help out the shop, get the snails, all that jazz. And tries her best to make time for studies and schooling too, but is just bad at it, just kinda does the bare minimum to not get expelled. Doesn't really matter what she tries she's just too focused on helping run her household that school doesn't matter that much. Plant track, but skips and has been known to hide in other classes to learn things when a lesson could be used potentially for food stuff haha.

Blue is chaotic when she's in class, derailing lectures by asking the most insane questions. *Does different shades of abomination goo taste different??*

She has a lovely little palisman named Biscuit, she's a weird grasshopper bat thing and also a menace.

Biscuit helps when she can in the bakery, but must be paid in cookies.

Some spoilers for season 3

Pairing palisman to witches has been one of my favorite things to do in The Owl House fandom. I have done about 3 lists so far.  A “first guess list” I did pre-Hunting Palisman (Amity and Mary the sheep horned abmination student were the only ones I got right). Then a list involving the palisman that did not go home with witches in “Hunting Palisman”. My third list was one I did for all the adult characters, based on their personalities and headcannons some of their actor’s had given. Well in honor of Stringbean hatching I want to make a fourth list for all the teenager’s/young adults whom we have not yet seen with palisman.

Amber’s palisman: A fruit bat. I have seen some people in the fandom nickname the youngest of the bard trio “baby bat” due to her ears, fangs, and wings. I love this, so I want to keep that little theme going with her palisman also being a bat. I piked a fruit bat just because I think their little fox-like faces are cute

Derwin’s palisman: A Newt, possibly a firebelly newt for its cool look and rebel sounding name. So I really want the the original 4 BATT’s to all have a different type of animal palisman. Raine’s voice actor already said Raine would have a penguin (a bird), Katya has a herculean beetle (an insect), and above I said Amber would get a fruit bat ( a mammal). Then that means that Derwin should get either a reptile or an amphibian. I am going to reference Amphibia here: I headcannon Derwin as being most intelligent of his trio (Katya being the caring one, and Amber being the brave one) because he wears glasses and his name is super similar/derived from that of a famous scientist.  And in Amphibia the newts were the scholarly race

Blight Twins. Okay so originally I wanted all three of the blight siblings to have cats, with Emira having a black cat and Edric having either a gray one or a tabby. Then that turned into Emira still having a cat but Edric instead having a small dog. But earlier today I saw the tweet that said the writers wanted to give the twins a butterfly and a moth. Which is funny because in my adult witch list I said that if the little brown rat was not Alador’s paliman, then he should have a lunar moth palisman. Now I am just imagining ghost with a gaggle of bugs, rodent’s, and Stringbean, who’s default form is a snake... All animals cats usually try and hunt/catch, but these ones are her family. lol.

Moving on, the person said that the reason we haven’t seen the twins with the two bugs is that they crew cold not decide which twin should get the moth and which twin should get the butterfly. Well choosing to believe them, I can decide: Emira gets the moth. Edric gets the butterfly. Now let’s talk breeds.

Emira Blight: A prometheus moth. It took approximately 5-10 seconds for me to pick this breed of moth for Emira. Prometheus moth’s are brown feathered moths with eye like images painted on to the back of their wings. Emira is such a watchful person. She does so much to try and take care of Ed and Amity. In season 2 she honestly seemed like the closest thing her siblings had to an involved parent. I think it would really cool if she got a prometheus moth that literally had eyes on the back of its wings, and it either followed just behind her or sat on her scalp, and was treated like Emira having eyes in the back of her head.

Edric Blight: A red spotted purple butterfly. They are actually blue with black edges and orange spots. They look kinda like blue Monarch butterflies. In contrast to his sister, just looking through butterfly breeds on google to find him one did nothing but overwhelm me. So to try and cut it down I decided I wanted to give him a blue butterfly, since he has blue magic. There are like 50+ types of blue butterflies, but I found the red spotted purple butterfly petty high on the list and picked it. It has three colors to its wings, just like Ed has three track colors on his school uniform. 2 of its colors even match 2 of Ed’ tracks. So a red spotted purple butterfly is Edric’s butterfly.

Matt Tholomule: a white Rat. So a rat was my original pick for him just because after 1x09 the fandom kept referring to him as “the construction rat”. Now that we have seen more of his skills and personality, the animal just continues to suit him more. Rat’s are, sneaky, good at building, really smart (seriously rats are actually incredibly smart rodents.) and fast little creatures. I say with all the love in the world that  Matt is a rat gremlin. Originally I was going to pick out a breed of rat that was black or dark grey to match Matt’s color scheme better... Then I realized that that would look similar to Micky Mouse. No. Adrian Graye, who was written as a vessel for the creators to express their disgust/frustration for Disney’s producers, is the only character who a Micky Mouse palisman works with. Give Matt a white rat that looks nothing like Micky.

Steve: Hedgehog palisman for Steve. He was on my last list, where I suggested a scorpion palisman. I have since been unsatisfied with that choice and want to change it to a hedgehog (I will give all the Tholomule’s rodent’s). I looked at its meanings and a hedgehog is literally perfect for Steve. A hedgehog is a tough little creature but also non aggressive, so is Steve. Totem wise they are seen as vessels for positivity, and Steve likes to cheer for people. But also a creature who likes peaceful outings. Europeans view them as representations of victory over evil forces, which can be represented with Steve choosing to walk away from the Emperor’s coven when he no longer believed in The Emperor’s rule.

Vee Noceda: A mocking bird. Oh y’all thought I wouldn’t include Luz’s siblings on this list? No chance. I have seen more fan art on Tumblr of Vee with Stringbean than Luz. So many people have been commenting about how the egg hatched into a mythical creature that is so similar to a basilisk, and how flattered Vee will feel when she meets her sister’s new pet. Guys Stringbean is Luz’s. Vee needs her own palisman. I did want to give her something that could learn to mimic other creatures similar to how Vee does. I also thought about birds, because Vee mentions playing with Masha and a flock of birds at camp in one of her letters to Camila. Put both of those concepts together and you get Vee with a little mocking bird palisman.

King Clawthorne: A bunny. He can have one too, once he gets old enough to take care of it. I am sticking with my first idea that once King becomes old enough to outgrow Francois he gets himself a bunny palisman to be his little buddy instead.

The Collector: A multicolored parrot. Yeah if King was going to be on this list then his new baby brother had to be next. Anyone who has watched 3x02 can see how at his core the collector is just a lonely little kid who is afraid of being alone. If you know about Parrots you know that they are long living birds who develop close bonds with their owners to the point where they want to be by their side always. A parrot could spend all day every day playing with the Collector and they would both love it.

Hunter: Well of course the first thing I want to know is if, since he has flapjack’s spirit, can he carve a new palisman body for Flap and put him into it. In “Hunting Palisman’s” Hunter said he wished he could chose his life for himself, and that bonded him to Flapjack. Well in “Thanks to Them” almost everything he said he would like to do with his life involved palisman. He still needs one and there is no room left in the show for him to mourn Flapjack and get to a point where it is believable that he would be ready to get/make a new palisman.

But let’s say that either A.) It is possible for Hunter to carve Flapjack a new body and he carves something other than a cardinal, deciding that both he and Flapjack should have knew looks for their new lives. Or B.) the Owl house gets spin off material and somewhere down the road we get a comic of Hunter going through the process of mourning Flapjack, and coming to terms with what happened. Then eventually getting to a stage where carving a new palisman wouldn't be to painful. I have seen a lot of people suggest a wolf. That good, but I want to suggest on final tribute to his fallen friend’s old forum. A black/dark brown wolf with red feathered wings. Palisman do not have to look exactly like the animals they are based off, and so far canine palisman haven’t. The green skinned fang kid has a unisus wolf, and Jarbo has a unicorn dog. So why should Hunter carve a plain old wolf when he could do a black and red Pegasus wolf?

You know what? My girls deserve magic, so now palismans are a (extremely rare) thing in Twisted Wonderland.

Birdie is caring person who's working through her recently aquired traumas while taking care of Pipa, Grim and Adeuce. Her biggest wish is to overcome the insecurities that came with her zombiefication, so I chose a Fruit Bat for her (Yes, this is a Mlp reference, I loved that cartoon)

Bats represent many things, and the ones that are most relevant to Birdie's case are community, longevity, balance, good fortune and evolution. Birdie's journey is a bittersweet one, so she'll need this little friend with her.

Pipa is a young girl who, like Riddle, was deprived of a childhood by her parents and their unachievable expectations for her, but when she finds herself in Twisted Wonderland, Pipa immediatly blooms into her most genuine self, but keeps finding problems on keeping her emotions in check now that she's going all out. Pipa's biggest wish is to live happily in Twisted Wonderland, never wanting to go back to earth.

I chose the poodle moth for Pipa because moths represent transformation, attachment, disguise and unconditional love (something that she needs more than ever before). Pipa's journey is about rediscovering what family entails, her fluffly friend may help.

Imagine if the palisman had anthropomorphic forms or could get big like the bat queen. I just mostly want this cause imagine willow and clover cuddles. Hunter flying flapjack off into battle like a pokemon. Luz's palisman being a giant dragon snake. Like what if palisman had evolved forms?

Oh, yes yes yes~! That's such a cute and fruitful idea. Ahh, the possibilities. Imagine what they'd look like - would they appear as witches with animal features, or something akin to furries i.e., having animal faces still? Either way, the potential is endless~!

But supersized Palismen are also a fun idea: Ghost becomes straight-up something akin to a lioness or a jaguar.

Finding Palisman

(Boilpunk Isles AU)

Hunter squinted at the map Luz had mailed him. “Uh… llllleeeeeeft here?” He peered down into the alleyway to his left. “That can’t be right. Unless there’s a secret door?”

He kept a hand on his pistol as he edged in, looking for any doors, levers, or tunnels. “Hm. Nope. Pretty sure I’m just lost.”

He heard a rustle, and whirled around, yanking out his gun and pointing it at the source of the noise. A dumpster. Hunter tucked his map in his pocket and slowly approached the garbage, flipping open the lid.

A small red bird peered up at him, one wing bent at a crooked angle.

Hunter breathed a sigh of relief, putting his gun back in its holster and hoisting himself up, his feet dangling as he reached in for the bird. “Hey, little guy, what’re you doing in…”

It cheeped, fluttering away from his hands with a chirp of pain as it moved its injured wing.

“Aw, I’m not going to hurt you.” Hunter wiggled a little bit further, kicking the side of the dumpster as he reached for the bird. “You can’t stay in here, you’ll get squashed.”

He started to slide, and before he could stop himself, fell into the dumpster with an oof. His hand landed in something squishy.

“Ew, ew, ew, ew—” Hunter shook his hand to get the rotten fruit off of his glove. He cornered the bird, scooping it up and holding it so it couldn’t struggle and hurt its wing worse. “Here we go. I’ve got you.” He struggled up to his feet, hauling himself out of the dumpster and rolling over the edge. He landed in a crouch, and sat down, opening his hands and letting the bird out. “Okay, let’s see that wing. I don’t know a lot about birds, but how different could it be from a glider wing, right?”

It hopped away from him, and he grabbed it again. “Hey! I’m trying to help you!”

It chirped in pain, and he loosened his grip. “Sorry! Ugh. Yeah, I don’t know anything about birds. Maybe Luz does? Or Eda, she has a bird. Yeah, it’s a palisman, but…”

Hunter shrugged off his vest, wrapping it around the bird to keep it still. Glider race might just have to wait. Not like I could find it anyway. Sorry, Luz.

Hunter made his way towards the owl house, clutching his cargo to his chest and keeping an eye out for any demons that might want to make a snack out of the little bird. Hooty swung the door open as he approached, and Hunter poked his head inside. “Eda?”

The owl lady looked up from the couch, where she was reading a book. “Aren’t you supposed to be at a glider race?”

Hunter shrugged. “Got lost.”

“Whatcha got there? Also, you smell worse than King, when was the last time you took a bath?”

Hunter shoved the wrapped-up bird at her. “I found it in a dumpster.”

“Don’t sound so proud of that. Although I guess that does explain the smell.” Eda took the package, then nearly dropped it. “Whoa, there. Kid, do you know what this is?”

“A bird?” he guessed.

“You found a palisman!”

Hunter yipped, backing away. “I found a what? What was it doing in a dumpster? What were you doing in a dumpster?” he addressed the bird.

It warbled softly at him as Eda unwrapped it, squinting at its broken wings. “One of the raids, I bet. Poor little guy’s far from home.”

“Raids?” Hunter echoed.

“Oh, come on, don’t tell me you don’t know about the raids. On the Bat Queen? Belos tries to take the palisman under her protection?”

“I…”

He’d known there were raids on the Bat Queen. He’d always just assumed that they were attempts to bring her in. And he’d never questioned where Uncle got the palisman he used to soothe his curse—or what he did with them.

“Oh,” he said simply.

Eda gently reset the bird’s bones, splinting it with popsicle sticks and binding it so the bird wouldn’t be able to move it around and hurt it worse. “You going to take them home?”

“What?! No way! Those things are dangerous!”

“Oh, I thought we’d gotten over your magicphobia. Look at him, he’s just a little tweety bird, do you think he could hurt anyone?”

The bird looked up at him with big eyes, and Hunter sighed. “Guess not. But I can’t take it home! They’re illegal!”

“Yeah? And when was the last time someone conducted a raid in your room? Sometimes the safest place is close to the enemy. Right in their blindspot.”

“Why can’t it just stay here?!”

“Because Owlbert will get jealous, and King will think it’s a chew toy, any other objections?”

“I could take it back to the Bat Queen?”

“That’s way more dangerous than bringing them home with you! You’d get eaten alive! Not to mention, if another raid happens while this little guy is hurt, they won’t be able to escape.”

“Mmmmmmm…”

Eda rolled her eyes. “Hold your hands out.”

“What?”

“Hold your hands out, Hunter!”

He did, and she poured some kind of fruit in them. She scooped up the bird and Hunter’s eyes widened. “No, no, no, no—”

“Do not move your hands away, Hunter, you hold still.”

He squeezed his eyes shut as she settled the bird in his hands, waiting for it to bite him, or jump out.

Instead, he felt a gentle pressure that disappeared. Then again. He slowly opened one eye, and then the other. The palisman was gently pecking at the fruit in his hands, gobbling it down. It looked up at him with a cheep, then turned back to the fruit. Hunter lifted it up closer to eye level. “Huh.”

“There. Not so scary, huh?”

The bird hopped with a half-winged flutter onto his head, its little claws digging into his hair. He froze as it pecked at his goggles. “Eda. Eda, help. Eda, help, it’s on my head.”

Eda sat back down on the couch, kicking her feet back. “Guess you’re stuck like that.”

“Eeeeeedaaaaaa!”

“Don’t yell like that, you might scare it.”

Hunter shut his mouth. “Mmmmmmrghhhhh.”

He held still, hoping the bird would hop down.

It didn’t.

The door burst open. “Hey, Eda, Hunter didn’t—oh, there you are, you smell awful, also, there’s a bird on your head.”

“Aw, really, Luz? I hadn’t realized!”

Luz reached up and gently disentangled it. “Awwwwwww, look at youuuuu! Eda, can I—”

“No, nope, that’s Hunter’s dumpster bird, and he’s not throwing it on us.”

Luz reluctantly set the bird back in Hunter’s hands. “Awwww, lucky.”

“Mmm.” Hunter shook his head. “I should get it home, figure out a way to sneak it inside.”

The bird cheeped, then turned solid, like wood. “O-oh. Okay.” Hunter tucked the palisman into his bag. “If it can do that, why was it being difficult?!”

“Because it didn’t trust you,” Eda called, “It just survived a raid—you really expect it to be buddy-buddy with the first witch it sees?”

Hunter opened his bag to look at the bird. “But you trust me now?” he asked softly. He shook himself, waving to Luz and dashing back to the trolley stop. The whole ride back to the chest, he kept peeking in the bag to look at the palisman again. It remained frozen.

I could just throw it out the window right now if I wanted to.

The impulse was sudden, and Hunter shoved his hands in his pockets. “What is wrong with you?” he muttered to himself, “It’s just a bird. Eda’s right. It’s not threatening. It’s just…” Hunter’s hand drifted to the scar on his face.

It wasn’t this little guy. He’s too small. Grow up. You can’t live your whole life scared of the thing your best friend practices.

The trolley came to a stop, and Hunter hopped off, making his way around the keep walls and opening a maintenance hatch, wiggling inside and up until he squeezed through another hatch on the other side. He found his window and started scaling the tower, his hands and feet finding the ledges and crevices he knew so well.

Until he slipped.

Hunter’s feet dangled, and he strained to find another handhold as his remaining fingers struggled to hold him up.

Come on, come on, come on—

Hunter’s remaining hand cramped and gave out, and he fell.

The palisman fluttered out of his bag, shifting into a staff that he grabbed for wildly. It stopped his fall inches above the ground, and he peered at the little bird with new respect.

“Huh. Thanks.” He slowly floated up to his window and climbed in. The bird shifted back, chirping in pain, its sling crooked. Hunter reached out and straightened the sling. “Sorry. I’m not doing a very good job taking care of you, huh?”

The bird hopped around on his bed, pecking at the gears and screws lying around before eventually settling down on top of his frog plushie. At a knock on the door, Hunter quickly tossed a blanket over the bird just in time for Kikimora to open it.

“Oh. Hah. Hiiiiiii, Kiiiiikiiiii!”

She gave him an odd look. “What have you done this time?” she asked exasperatedly.

“Whaaaat? Me? Nothing! Nothing’s even blown up! What are you talking about?”

Her eyes narrowed. “You’re acting… strange. Er than normal.”

“Are you here for a reason?”

“Just to remind you that you’ve got a meeting with the experts tomorrow.” Her nose wrinkled. “And I suggest you take a bath beforehand. You smell like a garbage can.”

She swept out, closing the door behind her, and Hunter flopped back on the bed with a groan. “Not a meeting.”

The bird poked its head out from under the blanket, cheeping questioningly.

Hunter scooped the bird up, setting it on his chest. “It’s not like I don’t want to help Uncle,” he told it, “I do! He needs me! I just… sometimes wish I could help a different way, you know? I don’t like all the formality and meetings, I like… building stuff, and practical solutions. And I wish I was somewhere where that was all I needed to do be useful instead of all this weird political stuff.”

The palisman angled its head towards the window, turning back into its staff form. Hunter sighed, picking up the staff and setting it to the side.

“Thanks for the offer, but I can’t. This is the role I’ve been given, and… it’s one I need to play.”

And there’s nothing either of us can do to change that.

Beastars au; What would Raine and Gwendolyn be? I could definitely see Raine as a fruit bat!

Raine is most DEFINITELY a fruit bat, who I'm going to pretend have hands where regular bats thumbs are for the sake of Raine being able to actually grab things. yes I know their wing is actually their fingers, this is a world about furries i can make a few adjustments. they're just the funky violin teacher elsewhere in the city that are also working closely with possible future beastars and species representatives, i'm still figuring out how they managed that. poor Raine has the appearance of one of those funky bat bug carnivores but is not only the biggest species of bats, but a herbivore

Gwen would be a whole hybrid melting pot like her daughters, I'll have to decide on how much of it is from her when her husband is revealed in canon, but I believe her primary appearance would be a hawk to keep the bird theme and also match her palisman. but shes still very much a hybrid and doesn't shy away from it, and of course it looking for ways to help her hybrid daughter Eda find a way to stop going feral outside of the medication she already uses

Vampire Raine Whispers AU

Vampires are a subspecies of Witches that consume blood as part of their diet; while they can eat the same food as other Witches, they need to drink blood or a substitute to be healthy.

Vampires look similar to the average Witch, the biggest physical difference is that Vampires have longer fangs, though this is not always a sure way to identify them as big fangs can indicate demon ancestry. Some natural-born Vampires have bat-like traits even when in their Witch form.

They can cast magic like any other Witch but  also have other abilities unique to themselves; this abilities are not subjected to the restrictions imposed by Coven Sigils. 

Common Vampire abilities are shapeshifting into bats, though other forms are possible; enhanced strength, speed, and senses; a powerful healing factor that allows them to heal from most serious injuries; and the ability to hypnotize others, though this mostly works on animals as their minds are simpler, but powerful Vampires can control people.

 Vampires do not burn in the sunlight, but it does weaken them; this can be countered by wearing a special enchanted stone. A Vampire’s dislike of garlic and similar things is due to their enhances senses being bombarded by the strong odor.

Most Vampires are naturally-born but they can Turn regular Witches into Vampires through their bites. This is only possible if the Vampire consciously intends to Turn someone, so accidental Turning is impossible.

Some Witches look down on Vampires, especially Turned ones, considering them to be cursed. Because of this, many Vampires choose to hide their true natures from other Witches and Demons.

Raine Whispers is a Turned Vampire. A year before they met Eda, Raine was in a terrible accident and was injured to such extent that the Healers assumed they wouldn’t survive. Desperate, their parents asked a Vampire friend of their to Turn their child into a Vampire to save their life.

Eda and Raine did not break up in this AU. When Raine noticed that Eda was being cagey about her curse, they revealed their Vampiric nature to Eda, hoping that she would open up to someone who was also dealing with a condition that could be considered a curse. Raine’s gambit worked; Eda was more open about her curse, and their relationship did not become strained.

Of course, Raine had plans to investigate the Covens from the inside and Eda was a Wild Witch, so they pretended to break-up and kept their continued relationship a secret. The couple then adopts and raise King, the BATTs, and Luz when she comes through the portal.

The BATTs are Vampires too: Katya and Amber are natural-born Vampires while Derwin is a Turned Vampire (no, Raine didn’t Turn them).

Raine’s bat form resembles a large fruit bat (also called flying foxes, cause Raine has a fox Palisman) with green fur.

My Palisman Predictions

A bunch of Students from Hexside, what animals I think they will carve for Palismans one day, and my reasons as to why.

Luz Noceda: An Otter with wings. If Luz stays on the boiling isles long enough to get a staff and Palisman (which she should) than this is what I believe she will chose. Grom, among many other great things, told us about Luz and Otters. They are an animal she feels very strong when connected to, so it would be a very good Palisman for her. But Luz will not have just a plain old Otter, No. She has spent months being influenced by the Clawthorn family (is basically Eda’s adopted daughter) , and the Clawthorns are all about aviaries as symbols. So Winged Otter, master of air and water and probably land (eat your heart out ducks).

Williow Park: A Chia Pet. I have seen a lot of people give her a garden type insect, like a butterfly or ladybug. That would be a great choice if Grom hadn’t revealed she is actually really scared of bugs. At first I was pretty set on Willow carving a chipmunk.Make herself a cute little woodland creature that likes to scamper thru the garden. But this is Willow, this is the girl that with all her plant based power makes Poison Ivy look like a toddler running around with a seed in a dixie cup of dirt. How can she NOT have a palisman that is at least half plant? I don’t know about y’all but when I think of chia pets I picture a little hedgehog with leaves growing out of its back. Maybe Willows could thorn branches and learn to use vine whip?

Au”GUS”tus Porter: A Rabbit. A little bit because rabbits are popular in Human magic shows, which are all about creating illusions. But mostly because Gus’s specialty is making clones of himself and, as we all know, rabbits are great at multiplying.

Amity Blight: A Cat. This one warrants an explanation? Okay, Amilty is literally a cat in a human body. Think abut it when you first meet her she comes off as This aloof snob who see’s herself as above it all. But keep coming around, give her time to get used to you, you may manage to befriend her. And if you do manage to befriend her she turns into this silly, affectionate, dork. She is a cat. Her brother and sister know she is a cat, That is why they call her mittens, a popular cat name. Amity’s palisman will be a cat.

Edric and Emira Blight: Giraffe. Speaking of Amity’s Brother and sister. Yeah yeah I know I say that I want the show to dive more into the twins individual characters, and I do. But the two of them are close, and have worked as a team so often that they have very similar style of magic. I can see them carving the same animal, and just having them pose a bit different from the other, maybe teaching them separate tricks. As for Why they would want Giraffes, come on Giraffes have got to be the most hardcore animals in existence. They were literally banished from the Isle because they scared all the witches by refusing to be controlled. Just imagine Ed and Em using their illusion magic to conjure up an image of a herd of Giraffes running thru the market. The fact that Alador and Odalia would no doubt have objections to the twins wanting Giraffes would just be a bonus.

Boscha: A horse. I feel like a horse strikes just the right balance of pretentiousness and athleticism for Boscha. Horses also compete, and we have seen how important competition is to Boscha

Skara: A Peacock. Skara is a bard track girl, and for her 15th birthday magicked sparkly invitations out of real butterfly's. This tells us that Skara loves things that are fancy, and dramatic. A peacock is the perfect animal for her. 

Amelia: A Squirrel. It is a nature based woodlen creature that  is kinda simple, likes plants, and likes to snack. Based on what little bit we have seen of Ameiia in the background I would say that fits her pretty well.

Cat: An Owl. Cat is in the healing track, which I am guessing means she wants to be a medic, so she must be smart. Also her glasses make me think a bit of an owl. We do not know to much about Cat yet, so I going to leave her at owl, and it may change once we get more into her character.

Bo: A Dolphine. Bo ( the freckly healing track girl) is another character we do not know that much about yet ( hey, how about if in season 2 we give the healing track a bit more love). But  a dolphine is smart and social, chich Bo seems to be. Plus I really anted to give somebody a sea creature, and why not Bo?

Selene: Wolf. Selene is that really cool girl from the oracle track that has a head like a crescent moon. I picked a wolf for her because they are considered spiritual animals and have love/loyalty to the moon.

Mattholomule: An Armadillo or a Rat. something small, that is good at constructing burrows/tunnels, and is considered a pest.

Viney: A Griffin. Viney is going to create a palisman that looks exactly like a little carving of her beloved pet and assistant Puddles. Okay? Okay.

Jarbo: A Mole. Jarbo likes plants and soil/mud, so I am giving him a mole. He will liekthat beacause moles are super cute

Barcus: A Cat. So with Barkus being a dog, some people probabaly expect him to have a dog palisman, as a pack mate maybe? IF that is what you see him with then that is great for you. But I want to give him a cat, so he and his palisman can chase each other around on adventures.

Eileen (eyeball girl): A Frog. She is in the potion track and it is hinted in the covention episode that she wants to become a chef someday. I could see a frig helping her out in the kitchen. Like it could leap up onto shelves to fetch ingredients for her, and maybe stir pots with its tongue 

The Stoner Oracle Guy: A Bat. Maybe it could help him learn to fly in those red shoes with bat wings

The purple haired abomination girl with the horns: A Ram. Their horns would match.

The gold abomination guy with the head that looks like some kind of exotic fruit:  A deer. This guy is pretty big, but comes off as a big, shy, sweetheart. I want to give him a deer palisman.

Cute little cyclops goat student in the bard track: A Strong and Sturdy mountain goat No need to think to hard on all of them

Blue Gay kid with the fins on his face: A Seahorse

His boyfriend, who has red hair and I think is in the oracle track: A regular horse. Bigger and fluffier than Boshca’s, maybe a clidesdale

Mouth headed girl in the illusion track: A Hyena.

green potion guy whom King nicknames fang: A parana. Like him it is full of sharp teeth.

Principal Bump: Monkey. Bump is an old guy and he likely already has a staff and palisman, we just haven’t seen it. Until we do see it I want to headcannon that his Palisman is a monkey, and it is doing the “See no evil pose” where it is covering its eyes; since Frewin hangs on just level with Bump’s eyes.
