going INSANE. what is he thinking. why did he say this. why does he do all of this. i am thinking so hard.

we know he's seeking arceus to recreate the world bc in his eyes the world is cruel and unjust and it needs to be destroyed and remade. he's set himself on a mission to create the better reality he's envisioned for his whole life.

but everything else he does. the way he spends his time on pasio making people smile with togepi. even if he justifies it as something purely transactional to get more customers, we know he doesn't really take his merchant job seriously. the way he loves his pokemon so much that they will pop out of their pokeball to excitedly tell whoever will listen how much they love volo back. him trying to capture these moments of happiness tangibly because they never last long and can be wiped away any second.

he still hangs onto hope so much despite what's implied to have happened to him. in spite of all the anger and bitterness that's festered in him, he doesn't really want to destroy everything as he says.

it all started with a wish for the world to be a better place, for the good in the world to outweigh all the cruelty. he's still trying to spread what happiness he can.

but at the same time his past drags behind him and reminds him that he can't afford to trust in the goodness of the world.

that self-assigned mission to usurp arceus's power and rewrite everything.. to him, it's his duty now. he has to do it for himself and, as he rationalizes to himself, for the world.

so he ignores the flaws and holes he finds in his own reasoning. he can't help but seek out the brightness and happiness and goodness that does exist in the world, yet he has to dismiss it to justify his goals.

... all this to try and explain to myself why volo's asking all these questions and making all these comments that seem to go against what we'd expect given his ulterior motive and plans. and it's like he's asking the few friends he has to remember him as the one who seeks joy, even when he does the worst to fulfill his dreams

Does Donnie have any feelings about how he’s able to walk on water, and also can he choose not to? It must suck for a turtle not being able to swim if not :(

Also how often does he dance?

Would Mikey dance with him? (Cause I think Mikey was once described in the show to be a good ballet dancer)

he can choose not to and he can still swim! walking on the water feels totally natural and normal to him-- someone would have to point it out to him before he'd start to question it.

also, he spends tons of time dancing! hours every day are dedicated purely to ballet. partially because, even before he became the guardian of the lake, it was one of his favorite hobbies. and partially because he feels compelled to by the lake itself. in terms of mikey--

absolutely they dance together.

Recent page from my Pokemon fancomic, Shadow of the Sun. I was very proud of how this turned out that I figured I’d share as its own piece. This depicts the Divine Wheel, which is believed to be the form of the universe in the world of SOTS. Arceus, the All-Mother, is the creator—son Dialga the turner of the wheel—daughter Palkia the preserver—and child Giratina, who will end the world when the time comes and return everything to the Unknowable, where everything begins and ends. The 18 spokes represent the elemental types, which all Pokemon cycle through as they reincarnate.

hi! i desperately need to see swannie & splinter. give that boy his dad!

It took Splinter longer than he'd care to admit to gather up enough courage to go visit Swanatello at the lake. The idea of his child not only failing to recognize him but also rejecting him and driving him away was absolutely terrifying to him. But after a couple weeks, he found that he wanted to see Donnie much more than he was afraid.

Donnie doesn't remember him all the time. But he did on that first visit. Splinter is the only one that Donnie always recognizes right away. He either recognizes him or he doesn't-- there's never any hesitation or cloudiness when it's his dad. When he is able to recognize him, he recognizes him beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Donnie was so hideously overexcited that first visit that Splinter had to sit with him for a while just to settle him back down. Donnie didn't realize, on this particular day, that anything was wrong with his situation-- but he did know who his Dad was, and could recognize that it felt like he hadn't seen him in a while.

(Barry, on the other hand, Donnie has never once recognized nor met with anything less than complete and utter hostility on any of his visits.)

Also--

It hasn't really come up. Part of this is because when Splinter visits, he'll often sing so that Donnie has music to dance to. Donnie doesn't want to tell him that he already hears music for fear that he'll stop-- so he never mentions it.

What do Azelf Mesprit and Uxie think about twig. Formerly being a human?

Uxie wouldn’t have much to say on the matter— he’d be intrigued by Twig’s origins and her slowly recovering memories, but he’s a reserved soul who prefers to ponder things in solitude, save for the presences of his siblings. He might mention his theories about the differences between his domain of wisdom and the little control he has over memories, wondering why he can’t restore dormant memories despite being able to erase them.

Mesprit would be very enthusiastic about the emotional aspect of Twig’s transformation into a charmander. She might be a bit intense about offering her sympathy, but if she and Twig were to have some time to bond and Twig would become comfortable enough to be emotionally vulnerable instead of just describing traumatic events without any emotional engagement as she recites them, Mesprit would be able to tell Twig some important things that’d trigger some deep catharsis for her. If this happened, Twig’s 100% not gonna come out of the conversation without having cried enough to fill a small swimming pool and feeling lighter than before she heard Mesprit tell her (in language that resonates with her) that what happened to her was messed up and that she should be super angry at what happened to her.

Azelf, like Uxie, is more quiet than his sister, and isn’t much of a talker. However, he’d have a deep admiration for Twig and her determination to protect her loved ones no matter what it takes. He’d probably warn her about the dangers of misplaced willpower and tell her to mind what she stakes her motivation on, that shame is no true source of will no matter how it tries to convince people it is.
