Hummingbird

This is my drawing of a hummingbird.

They can be found all over the Americas, though mostly in the Central and South Americas, and have 336 different species and 113 genera. It also belongs to the family Trochilidae.

They come in many pretty rainbow colours, mainly blues, greens and purples though, and their long beaks are also extremely specialised for feeding on flower nectar and eating insects. 

It is the smallest bird in the world with many being about 5 inches in length. The smallest spieces is the "Bee Hummingbird" at only 5 cm in length though, and the largest being the "Giant "Hummingbird" at 9 inches. 

After mating, the female usually builds a small cup shaped nest about 3.8 cm in diameter on a tree branch, made from spider-webs, lichens, moss, and loose strings from plant fibres.

They're also called "Hummingbirds" because of the hovering sound when their wings flap rapidly. This varies from 12 beats per sec - 99 beats per sec in smaller birds.
