For the Glory of the Imperium! I’ve finished an artwork of my Rogue Trader Esther I started a few months ago! It even feels weird parting with it after all this time.

Context: She's a Commissar with Illustrious Glory triumph which is a background as an Imperial propaganda posters legend. So I've been wondering for the longest time how those posters could look considering W40k aesthetics. I imagine clear and blunt wartime posters pushed in the direction of nearly religious imagery with fervent detailing but still looking like something that was painted.

Also I dusted off my calligraphy skills for this one, so every bit of text here is hand-lettered over a span of a few nights because clearly only through pointless toil and solemn misery can I capture the spirit of 40k💀 Consider me contractually obliged to bring attention to it every time I post because I spent so much time doing it lol. I could be your autoquill equipped servoskull anytime

Language peeps of tumblr! Big assist requested for figuring out what is painted on the side of this spinning wheel? The gothic script is making it extra difficult. This wheel is probably Norwegian in origin, but could also be Finnish or Swedish based on several key characteristics of its design that tie it to that region. The last two words might be fufër goty? Unknown. 🥲 Any help is much appreciated as I'm working on restoring this lovely.

Edit: someone in tags caught the fufër is a tytër for daughter in Finnish, so we might be a Finnish wheel after all!

Edit 2: was able to decipher enough that it is probably Fraktur Blackletter!

Edit 3: So far we have S-i--- J/I--- tytër(or tutër?) ---- 1884 figured out for blackletter font. There's a lot of repeating vowels and everyone trying seems to agree this is a pretty rough handwriting adding to the difficulty. Pretty sure the second word starts with a J but could be an I. Running theory at Juha as a name?!

I recently did an initial screening for ADHD with my therapist. It’s not an official diagnosis, but it shows it’s likely the source of many, many years of issues and problems i’ve been having with executive dysfunction in school, in the house, with my relationships, and at work.

The reason i even went to therapy in the first place was I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression affecting my ability to contribute to household chores and cooking. Of course, those factors compound and it’s hard to pull yourself out of the cycle of depressed -> doesn’t clean -> anxious bc the house isn’t clean -> don’t know where to start -> house stays dirty. on top of the shame that comes from ADHD-related hoarding tendencies.

But, my therapist said something that really resonated with me. A lot of people with ADHD struggle to start and stop tasks because of perfectionism seeking. And that alone described half of my issues outside of work. When I do get started cleaning, I often do it for hours because I can’t stop myself until I’m satisfied, getting distracted deeper into it until I’m suddenly bleaching my refrigerator shelves in the tub.

And that’s… not actually productive it turns out.

Because when cleaning becomes a whole half a day long production that hurts afterwards, Im less likely to do it. Like at all. Even if i enjoy parts of it.

So, the solution is basically. Letting myself be okay with half-assed tasks. Stop letting cleaning get away from me and just do it.

It’s okay to half-ass a chore. Because half a done task is better than not getting anything done when it needs to be done for my mental or physical health.

I hung this in my kitchen as a reminder of that.
