It's weird that we judge people who MAKE minimum wage, and not the people that PAY it. Whenever I hear about someone making minimum wage, it's always

But whenever I hear about a job PAYING minimum wage, it's always

Sure, but when you wanna talk about doing the bare minimum, shouldn't we talk about a job that is literally paying the bare minimum?

I mean, if this economic system works -- which eh -- then shouldn't the amount of money you pay incentivize the kind of work you get?

You might say, "No, you should work as hard as you can at every job you get."

So what you're saying is, you want a level of work that is inconsistent with the pay you are giving?

It sounds like you're saying you want a labor handout. And I thought we don't take kindly to handouts in this country brother

So if you're gonna use that kind of language, why not direct it at employers?

So the next time you get bad service at a place, instead of directing ALL your anger at the cashier,

you should get mad at the employer, who should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and pay more

A map our Dungeons & Dragons group found in the chief chambers of an orc den. It appears to rate the quality of loot on a five-star scale, and denotes a few locations the party did not know about.

The text is hand-written by myself too, using D&D5e’s dwarven script, but it’s just English with a different alphabet. The idea is, it’s written in goblin. Goblin uses dwarven script. No different from my days learning the Star Wars aurebesh by heart. Our Ranger, who can read goblin, actually decoded it in real life for fun. I love alternative alphabets, they’re really fun.

A handout of a book the PCs found sitting open, like so, on a table towards the beginning of my previous Mystara campaign. It was a guide to flesh golem creation.

There was a note on the inside front cover which referenced a character from the campaign prior to that, which took place roughly 20 years later, the campaign this was made for being a sort of "prequel." The original campaign took place during the AD&D Mystara post-WotI circa 1021, and the second during the regular D&D Gazeteer era circa 1000. This handout then contained a little "easter egg" that told the players how their future group's arch enemy learned to make flesh golems. They never figured out who V.F. was, despite it being cheesily obvious.

a couple of months ago, i was in a residential mental-health rehabilitation program (henceforth referred to simply as "rehab" lol), and a large part of the program was a leveling system with increasing privileges/etc. in order to move up to the fifth and final level, one of the things clients have to do is lead a group; for my own turn, i decided to introduce my group to Spoon Theory, and along with that, i created a simple two-page worksheet to help everyone better engage with the topic.

this is that worksheet.

rehab was a trip in many ways, getting up in front of a group of mostly strangers to teach them about managing their spoons - yeah, that was definitely an experience. and also oddly therapeutic in and of itself? yeah.
