Good Morning, Fam! Here is the 3 weeks late follow-up to this poll =,) I kept meaning to do this post before and then either forgot or wanted to focus on writing something else (because writing juice power is rare these days)
Anyway, I am pretty sure I brought this topic up to friends on discord or even here on my blog, so let me settle this while I'm at it. In before though, the Utrom here are all tiny little motor boats when they're content.
Tumblr media
Ironically, the one being the loudest, IS Subprime. That is if he doesn't stubbornly hold it back. He only purrs if he really wants to, and that is extremely rare in his case, go figure. That bastard is so about being in control about everything all the time that he's even holding back any enjoyment. Occasionally he just leaves the scene to stretch out and purr in private in his room. Alone.
Tumblr media
Second is Krang. That ol' tiny burbling ball can be like the weirdest hairless cat you ever had on your lap if he stops being discontent for a minute. He is definitely less embarrassed about it than Subprime is. They hear him purring, so what? 'You humans do weird noises too, shut up'.
Tumblr media
A close third is actually Bishop, who's very cuddly when he feels safe enough and he's not too busy with work. He's the ideal boyfriend truly if someone doesn't mind him his true size and, you know, everything else.
Tumblr media
Grum would be fourth. But, unlike the others, they're very reluctant about getting touched because it's rather uncomfortable to them. They're much more likely to purr if they get to have a long pleasant talk and then just relax while sitting next to the other. Grum is the 'no touchy' hairless cat in the group. But as I pre-faced, they all purr like big happy cats when they're very content. They're just mostly bitches about letting it happen in the first place *shakes them all without exception*

"I headcanon that there’s a Kraang out there, someone who was smart enough to know that the first invasion centuries ago was a bust and got out of there, escaped to the farthest reaches of the Galaxy and started the Kraang over. Maybe a new type of Kraang called the Utrom, and a more proper form of galactic conquest that focused on subtly and cleverness, as opposed to outright devastation. Maybe they snuck viruses onto countless worlds to spread a Kraang infection and has been slowly but effectively taking over the Galaxy one system at a time. By the events of the Rise movie, half the Galaxy is Utrom, and Earth is eventually going to be next."

Christening this blog proper with a post of Utrom headcanons for the 2012 continuity! I personally find them to be the most interesting bit of lore in 12, but I wish they got explored more, so here's my take! Tried to extrapolate as much as I could purely from what's shown in this canon, but for some points I just made shit up lol
Language
-Utrom speech patterns, compared to English, are extremely formal and seek complete clarity. This is why, when directly translated with a universal translator, they come off as very stilted and redundant.
-When learning earth languages, it is very difficult for utrom to grasp implied meanings or words because of this.
-When "anglicanized," utrom language uses long vowels and harsh consonants. (Evidenced by names: Kraang, Niktu, Klaatu (I get those last two are scifi/87 references but it's all I have,,))
-Utrom that have been stationed on earth for long periods may have more natural speech patterns, and even more fluid body language and/or facial expressions. This is not true of Kraang, who are all hivemind of Kraang Prime, who has not spent any significant time on earth. Thus, they are incapable of improving.
-Kraang Subprime is a bit of an anomaly. Utrom communicate in their native language with screeches, purrs, and other guttural sounds. They don't have tongues. Therefore, it should be impossible for them to speak human languages. Subprime, however, has been bouncing between earth and dimension X since before some languages have existed. They learned english and a couple others as they evolved, and learned to mimic the sounds without use of a tongue.
-While translated utrom speech comes across stilted and redundant, in practice they communicate a lot in short amounts of sound. Their "words" are much shorter than those of earth, often milliseconds long.
-This means a lot of utrom find English and other earth languages to be painfully slow to communicate with. Some get personally offended that those using droids might sometimes choose to communicate in human languages between them (and this is a common practice among recovering former-kraang.)
-For this reason it is also very difficult for them to translate names, which have no direct parallel on earth.
Reproduction
-Utrom reproduce asexually, all being born of a specific material. This material must be "planted" and cared for dutifully by a "parent." It must be kept at a specific temperature and humidity and elevation, and other such things, so growing a new utrom is a full-time job.
-The Material is sourced from a large and ancient meteor. Essentially, utrom are all living meteor jelly.
-The substance fully forms into a new utrom over the course of half a year, who is physically full-grown. They do not have a juvenile stage.
-The new utrom is a complete blank slate, mentally, and it is up to the parent to prepare them to enter society. Typically, they will be shadowed by their "child" for about a year. The parent decides when they're ultimately ready, though, so it can be longer or shorter.
-Thus, utrom have a lineage. When an utrom does something commendable, their parent will also get praise for preparing them well. Therefore lineages can be very important to some.
-Because utrom have such incredibly long lifespans, the amount of new utrom permitted within a given amount of time was regulated during peacetimes, to prevent overpopulation.
-It's possible for one plot of Material to produce two or more utrom, though exceedingly rare (with the rarity directly proportional to the number of utrom.) These are called sibling sets.
-There are superstitions surrounding sibling sets, with the most widely-believed being that siblings are exactly the same person. This means, sometimes, one will be scrutinized for the actions of their sibling.
-The very first few utrom were said to have formed by accident, from the Material, which was festering inside a large meteor. Once they observed a third form by accident, they began experimenting to find out how to induce it, and thus wrote the very rules of how to create a new utrom through trial and error.
-Using the meteor and others nearby, they built a sanctuary, including a fake atmosphere. This pseudo-planet cluster became Dimension X.
Culture
-Family is not that important, overall, to the utrom. Parenthood is also an uncommon aspiration for them.
-Due to their much looser family structures, friendship is considered the deepest form of bond. A parent and child have a relationship more akin to a mentor and student. Romance is non-existent and utrom don't experience such attractions.
-Dimension X is so far to the edges of the known universe that it is actually on the edge of two different dimensions. This means traveling to and from Dimension X normally is impossible, but also that interdimensional travel from there is far easier.
-The Hall of Portals was slowly built over time after the utrom discovered this.
-Time fluctuates in Dimension X, switching between matching each universe its edges touch. This is why sometimes time can pass normally while visiting, and other times it feels faster or slower. The utom aren't particularly bothered by this, given their longevity.
-Given utrom's long lifespans and isolated home planet, when an utrom is killed the entire community is shaken. This has been less so in recent times due to the long-lived war, but the Newtralizer's rampage, recently, caused a lot of turmoil in the recovering utrom culture.
-Contemporary utrom culture has shifted significantly from what it was pre-Kraang. Particularly, it has taken a lot from earth culture. Utromdroids are now common, everyday tools and a staple of their society, despite being developed as weapons and espionage tools. Human languages are sometimes spoken between groups of utrom, instead of their native language. Design sensibilities and entertainment will also certainly take inspiration from earth.
-On the other hand, the constant state of war has made it so a lot of traditions have gone unpracticed for a very, very long time. With the majority population having been hiveminded that whole time, and new practices being developed to support them, a lot of the old traditions have been lost or abandoned. Though, many still remember them.
-Most notably, with the event of the orphan generation, family structures are changing among them. Some utrom have elected to team together and split care of their fosters between them, and some have taken on more than one. Familial bonds are notably stronger than they have been, historically-- though it's possible this will not be reproduced outside the orphan generation (see Post-War section.)
-Utrom don't have unconscious states, and don't sleep.
-Utrom can subsist on one meal for months at a time. They have multiple "stomachs" and slow metabolisms.
-However, if the food is too soft it will last shorter for them. Their usual food is crystalline levels of solid.
-They also don't have taste buds, and their preference of foods is mostly determined by texture or temperature.
-Utrom require a lot of hydration, but again, their body can hold liquid for long periods of time.
-Due to their builds, utrom structures do not have a lot of flat surfaces, since it's difficult for them to traverse. Their buildings are made for climbing and hanging and lounging, as these are what their bodies are made to do.
-The gravity of earth makes walking along flat surfaces without a droid even harder.
-The frills on their head appear involuntarily when excited, but can also be displayed voluntarily.
-Utrom have no concept of gender. They are all made from the same Material, and are genetically identical. Plus, they don't have any reproductive organs.
-Most default to they/them. Some will accept what humans label them with based on their droids, making he/him very common, too. (Subprime's a bastard who has used every conceivable pronoun on earth just to confuse others.)
-Utrom bodies do not change at any stage in life. In a sense, they do not age, and it is impossible for an utrom to die of old age. Before the war, only a handful of utrom had died in total.
War/Post-War
-During the war, the utrom high council formed and later took their codenames from the game of chess. It took a long time for the tribe to organize and pick leaders. Before the tribe's creation, survivors were scattered among hiding places.
-When Kraang Prime took over, he gained control of The Meteor. This was a big point of focus during the coming wars. The utrom tribe wanted desperately to regain control of that point, especially due to their dwindling numbers. The Triceraton sought to destroy it.
-Kraang Prime, instead, used it to make hundreds and hundreds of new soldiers, blank slates that were easy to assimilate into the hivemind. He eventually used it up to extinction, meaning the utrom currently have no way to reproduce.
-When Kraang Prime died, it took a day or so for his control to wear off. It was slow and gradual, and the utrom high council had a bit of a hysteria to handle once the freed Kraang slowly became aware of themselves.
-When Kraang Prime died, these blank slates were a difficult point for the utrom high council to tackle. They could simulate normal(-ish) utrom behavior, but had nothing of substance behind them; no education, personality, or wants. They were dubbed the "orphan generation." The solution, it was decided, was to assign them adoptive parents to be shadowed. The problem was that the number of orphans far outnumbered the number of utrom tribe survivors.
-Freed Kraang have to relearn what it's like to think and feel things for themselves. They require a lot of support, which the utrom high council is struggling to supply with their low numbers.
-There are less than a hundred utrom tribe survivors by the time Kraang Prime dies. Comparatively, there are thousands and thousands of freed Kraang.

What is Utroms relationship with the trutles?
Tumblr media
Pre-krang reveal: Utrom eventually makes himself known to the turtles post-invasion. Acting as a goofy mentor/uncle. He'll show up at random moments to give them advice on whatever high-jinx the brothers are currently in. Leonardo however, hadn't trusted Utrom since day one. So many things about the man screamed out red flags to him. The way that Utrom is everywhere, his strange amount of knowledge, his inhumane abilities- the list could go on. The rest of the turtles (and by extension- their friends & family), adored Utrom. His presence provides a great sense of comfort as he bestows his wisdom upon them.... also the guy is just fun. he buys them free pizza
Tumblr media
Post-krang reveal After Utrom is outed for being a krang, the Trust between him and the turtles is completely shattered. They continue being on friendly terms (except for Leo) but ultimately become suspicious of his every action.
You see, While Utrom means well, He isn't exactly forthcoming with information regarding the kraang. The knowledge he shares is rather selective, only giving one piece of the puzzle instead of the whole picture. The turtles believe him on certain things yet don't trust Utrom to be entirely honest. Donnie continues to interact with Utrom while his brothers keep the kraang at arm's length. They spawn a mutual familiar bond, one akin to estranged Uncle and troubled nephew.
Tumblr media
Bonus: Utrom and April
Unbeknownst to both Barry and April- Utrom had made his newfound home within their apartment complex. Utrom is a good neighbour (despite being a little mysterious). however, April wouldn't mind Utrom so much if he didn't playfully flirt with her mom on an occasional basis. He doesn't realize he's doing it, Utrom thinks he's simply being friendly and making Carol {aka April's mom} laugh. (headcanon: April's parents are divorced and carol is currently single.)

TMNT 2012: 10 Years Later Headcanon
Happy 10 Year Anniversary of TMNT 2012 Everyone!!
Tumblr media
On this day in 2012, Nickelodeon officially released the first two episodes of their newest series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
To celebrate TMNT 2012′s 10 year anniversary I decided to share with you my headcanon future for the turtles and their friends, taking place exactly 10 years later. With the show starting with the turtles being 15, this headcanon future of mine takes place where the turtles are now 25 years old (exactly 10 years later).
I will discuss each turtle (with the inclusion of April, Casey, & Karai) with summaries of their lives, where they are, what they do now, their relationships with specific characters, and how their lives are going, etc. Consider this a happy ending for the turtles instead of that disaster of an ending that mutant apocalypse gave us.
Let’s get started! Here’s my headcanon future/happy ending for the 2012 turtles and friends!
Leonardo Hamato
Tumblr media
Like father, like son, Leonardo continues to lead the Hamato Clan as leader and sensei. He remained living in the sewers where he grew up, living with his youngest brother, Michelangelo. In honor of his father Leo rebuilt the Hamato Clan, building his own dojo in New York City and creating a new generation of ninjas. Though the task isn’t easy in this day and age, and his new growing clan still small, Leo works hard to continue the Hamato clan legacy, taking in many humans and mutants alike who are willing to learn and train with him.
Unlike most of his siblings, Leonardo never married, for he was so focused and dedicated to his clan that he never had time to have a serious relationship or settle down. He eventually swore off dating and pursuing romantic relationships entirely, taking a vow of chastity so he can truly focus on his job as sensei and leader of the Hamato Clan. However, despite never being married or having children of his own, Leonardo has many young students that he loves dearly that he has come to see as his own and they love and look up to him as a father figure.
When not focusing on his clan or his students, Leonardo visits his sister Karai, who moved back to Japan, to assist her in her own ninja clan, along with Slash and the Mighty Mutanimals back in New York. The three leaders all run their teams respectively and they all have a bond and strong alliance/agreement to help the other clans/teams if it is ever needed when another dangerous threat comes along, having monthly meetings to update the other teams on progress and such on specific matters. Leo also has status reports and meetings monthly with Karai and Slash on how their respective teams are doing and any updates on certain threats each team keeps an eye out for, or any new potential threats. In his spare time, Leonardo would also visit his best friend Miyamoto Usagi, who (thanks to Donnie) was able to find a way to remain in contact with one another and travel to each other’s worlds when desired. The two friends would chat, share some tea, train, and exchange life lessons to one another. It is one of the only few times Leo truly gets to relax for he is constantly working and focusing on reviving his father’s once dead clan. Sometimes Usagi even travels to Leo’s world to help him train his students and work as his second in command/assistant. Though Leo’s stress of his now busy life catches the attention of his family and friends, and they worry Leo is still putting too much pressure on himself, Leo is determined to continue his work as clan leader and even has his eyes on his niece to be his successor once she is of age.
Donatello Hamato
Tumblr media
In his late teens (I’d say shortly after When World Collide), Donatello was offered a golden opportunity he couldn't refuse. Offered by the Utrom Queen herself, he was given a position to work with the Utrom Council, along with working alongside many more intelligent scientists all across the galaxy, exchanging their knowledge and wisdom and working on grand experiments/inventions. This was basically like college for Donnie and soon he became a well known scientist, so much so that he became the Utrom Council’s trusted scientist and adviser for all Earth and Dimension X exchanges and trades, working alongside Bishop in the EPF.
Through his own hard work, Donnie achieved many great scientific accomplishments. Some include: Perfecting retro-mutagen and offering it to any mutants who desire to return to their old lives, finding and rebuilding Fugitoid (who now works with the Utrom Council), and curing Timothy’s mutation. With Timothy now back, Donnie continues training him to be a ninja (later Timothy moved on to being a student of Leo’s dojo so he can get more proper training) and Timothy also works as Donnie’s lab assistant. Donnie’s newest project he is working on is rebuilding Metalhead, creating Metalhead 2.0, with this one looking like a robotic version of himself that he one day plans to download his subconscious into and continue living his life as a robot after his death, the same thing Fugitoid did, but Fugitoid warns him that while he does get to continue his work for an entirety, eternal life as a robot is maddening. (If you can probably tell, this idea was inspired by Mutant Apocalypse Robo!Donnie, aka the only concept from that arc that I actually liked!). His robotic plans for his future justifiable makes his family uncomfortable, the idea of him living forever while they are long gone causing Donnie to rethink his future decisions, especially when he notices it starts to worry his beloved wife, April.
After a long complicated “will they, won’t they?” and teen awkwardness, Donnie and April get together in their early adult life, with Donnie properly confessing his feelings to April before she goes off to college (check out April’s part to know a little more about that). The two happily dated throughout April’s college years and after she graduated, they got married, with Donnie being the second (and only other) brother to get married. The couple now happily live together in April’s apartment in New York, close by to his brothers, Leo and Mikey. The newly married couple are happy together and appreciate what they have and look forward to what the future has in store for them.
(Also sorry Apriltello shippers, but they never have children, the writers themselves confirmed that Donnie and April would never have kids together because it's “impossible and weird”. Their words, not mine!)
Raphael Hamato
Tumblr media
With almost all of their greatest enemies defeated and now living in an era of peace, Raphael now lives a domestic life outside the city, a lifestyle everyone, even himself, never thought he would have. Most thought Raph would live a vigilante life, fighting criminals till the end of his days, but instead he settled down and started a family of his own. Being the first of his siblings to get married, Raphael married his true love, Mona Lisa, during his early 20s and as a wedding gift from April, now live together at April’s farmhouse, along with Chompy Picasso (who has grown quite big, the size of a large dog). Shortly after their wedding, the young couple was blessed with a daughter, a perfect mutant-turtle-alien-salamander hybrid. The news shocked everyone, for a new generation of mutants has started, hybrids! Raphael was overjoyed for he always deep down wanted to become a father and start a family of his own, but always thought it would never happen for who would want to be with a mutant freak like him? Mona Lisa proved him wrong.
After the birth of their daughter, Raph and Mona both decided to take a break from fighting criminals to focus on being parents and raising their child, but that doesn't mean they gave up fighting completely. The two still train in their free time, which is little when taking care of a 1 ½ year old. The couple plan to one day to fully train their daughter to become a strong fighter like them, even Leo has plans for his niece to one day be his successor and become the next leader and sensei of the Hamato clan once he retires, but for now, the couple want their daughter to enjoy her childhood, playing with Chompy and her uncles and aunts when they come by to visit. Raph and Mona plan to train their daughter once she reaches the age of six year old, the same age her father started training to become a ninja.
Raph works as the stay at home dad, while Mona Lisa continues her work with both the Mighty Mutanimals and for the Salamandrian military, so often that means she has to take trips off into space for short periods of time to send mission reports and other information. Sometimes, Raph joins her, despite hating space travel, so their daughter can see and spend time with Grandpa Sal. Something Raph finds important since he knows his daughter will never get to meet her other grandfather, Splinter, but he knows his father would be proud of the life and family he has now. Feeling at peace, Raphael is satisfied with the life and family he now has, but unknown to him, his family is soon going to become bigger for Mona Lisa is pregnant with their second child. Spoilers: it's a boy!
Michelangelo Hamato
Tumblr media
During most of his teen years, Michelangelo would often sneak out to help Mr. Murakami in his restaurant, whether it's preparing food/ingredients for tomorrow or cleaning up. This went on for many years and the two bonded. Tragically, Mr. Murakami died a few years prior and it was discovered in Murakami’s will that he left his restaurant to Mikey. Mikey now owns Mr. Murakami’s restaurant and with the help of his sous chef, Ice Cream Kitty, it has become the most popular restaurant in New York and the first to serve both humans and mutants. In his free time Mikey also hosts cooking classes.
Michelangelo lives in the lair with his brother, Leonardo. As the only ones who never left home, Leo and Mikey have a closer bond with each other, but still remain in contact with Donnie and visit Raph in the countryside as well as see their niece. As for Mikey’s love life, he and Renet (who is now a fully trained and professional time master) dated for some time, but sadly the relationship didn’t last. Renet knew she couldn’t have a serious committed relationship with Mikey because of the different time periods they are from and her busy job, and Mikey wasn’t ready for a committed relationship, so the two both agreed to break up and stay good friends, but that doesn’t stop them from having a friends with benefits relationship whenever Renet comes to his time period for a visit. Mikey never marries or becomes a parent himself, but he absolutely adores his niece and spoils her to the point of it annoying Raph and often plays/babysits her all the time. He’s the fun uncle.
Michelangelo is also the biggest activist when it comes to fighting for mutants being accepted into civilization. With his restaurant he proves that mutants and humans can coexist peacefully. Mikey also is the head of rebuilding the Undercity (remember that abandoned underground city below the sewers?). With the help of the Mighty Mutanimals (who play a big part in Mikey’s campaigns and organization) the Undercity is will soon become a safe civilization for mutants to live in away from humans who have not yet accepted them (think of it like the Yokai city in rottmnt). With his restaurant, fighting for mutants rights, and head of rebuilding the Undercity, Mikey is considered the busiest and most hard working of his brothers and has gained the highest respect and admiration to all of mutant kind. They often refer to him as “The Holy Chalupa”.
April O’Neil
Tumblr media
Before heading off to college (she majored in Journalism btw), Donnie confessed his feelings to April. April admits to him that for a while she had feelings for him too, but was never ready to confront them during those times, scared of commitment, not wanting to ruin their friendship, etc. It wasn’t until the Aeon crystal controlled her and nearly killed Donnie that April realized how much she loves and cares for him, but after that she feared it was too late and he moved on, but her doubts were proven wrong when he confessed his feelings to her. The two began their relationship while April went to college, eventually getting an internship at Channel 6 News. Shortly after graduating, April was offered an official job at Channel 6 and her and Donnie got married (She caught the bouquet at Raph and Mona’s wedding which inspired Donnie to propose a year later).
April’s psychic powers (that she has now mastered thanks to training with the Utrom Council) and ninja skills become useful for her job at Channel 6, getting the best stories and scoops that no other reporter can get. She also loves spending time with her niece, often being Raph and Mona’s babysitter, or co-babysitting with Mikey. And as for the mystery of her mother, April did her own search and finally learned the truth. Her mother was dead, killed by the Kraang during their experiments shortly after she was captured when April was little. The news broke April and also her father, but at the same time put the O’Neil family at peace, finally knowing the truth and no longer having to live a life of fear and wonder. April now lives with a peace of mind, mastering her powers, but still always ready to learn new skills to help others in her life.
Casey Jones
Tumblr media
With April and Donnie getting together, Casey was happy for them, for in a way he knew she’d choose Donnie in the end. But in the beginning it was awkward for them, so Casey began keeping his distance from the couple for a while. Casey eventually left New York for a few years, going to college out of state with a hockey scholarship, only visiting his turtle friends and family in the city during breaks and holidays. While at school, Casey met a young woman who works at the local diner near his college (for comic fans, yes it’s Gabrielle), the two fell in love and began dating while they both attended the same university. Casey graduated from college with a business degree and shortly after discovered his college sweetheart was pregnant. The two quickly eloped and moved back to New York to raise their son, and for Casey to start his own business, a car mechanic shop (Casey found his passion in mechanics and car repair thanks to Donnie during the ep Race with the Demon in S3).
Finally back in New York with his wife and new born son, and his car repair business thriving, Casey reunites with Turtles and most importantly rekindles his friendship with April and Donnie. Casey’s life of mutants and aliens was a life his wife wasn’t expecting her husband to have (he kept it a secret from her for most of when they were dating) and at first she feared the Turtles, but slowly she became friends with them. During the day Casey works at his shop, while at night he continues his vigilante gig, something his wife disapproves of, worried that his desire to stop criminals will one day get him killed (a fear that will sadly eventually lead to his marriage’s downfall). Casey assures her that will never happen and he will be careful, but he wife still continues to worry. Casey and Raph are still best friends and hang out in their free time. Most of their hangouts involve playdates with their kids. Casey always jokes that maybe one day his son (who is now 2) will marry Raph’s daughter. Raph hates that idea. Despite some road bumps and challenges Casey still faces in his life, if you ask him, he’s living the dream!
Karai Hamato
Tumblr media
After the official death of Shredder, Karai took the opportunity to reclaim the Foot Clan as hers and began rebuilding it to have a more honorable name. She moved back to Japan, keeping in touch with her brothers and visiting them often as she can, with her second in command/fiancée Shinigami (they got together shortly after Kavaxas’ defeat, with Shinigami confessing her feelings to Karai and she happily reciprocated). As mentioned in Leo’s section, Karai joins up in monthly meetings with Leo and Slash to discuss updates and other important subjects within their teams as a part of their alliance. The three all have a strong friendship and alliance for each other their teams.
In honor of her real father, Hamato Yoshi, Karai legally changed her last name back to Hamato, but decided to keep the name Karai. This was her symbolism to honor her family name and father, while also not erasing the memories of her past with Shredder and what led her to become who she is today. With hearing of Leo’s plan of having their niece be his heir of the Hamato Clan, this also inspires Karai to one day consider her and Shini having an heir of their own for the Foot Clan. In the mean time, Karai continues her hard work leading her still growing clan. With Shredder gone, Karai is happily free and the Foot Clan will be a proud and honorable name once again!
Bonus Lighting Round!
Slash continues leading the Mighty Mutanimals while also helping Mikey with his big projects of rebuilding the Undercity as a safe place for mutants to live in and live regular lives. As of now, he runs a small community for newly created mutants with no homes to live in peacefully until the Undercity is complete.
Leatherhead helps Mikey in his restaurant and attends his cooking classes, while Mondo Gecko is Mikey’s number one customer.
Alopex has a 4 year old son from a previous relationship with a mutant who later abandoned her and their child. Her and Tiger Claw are on better terms with each other now, but there is still some tension between the siblings that needs more time to heal. She is now living in New York and her and Slash are dating.
Sal Commander retired and is living a life of relaxing peace, and he also enjoys when his former lieutenant and “grandchildren” come to visit.
Fishface moved back to home in Brazil and continues living life as a common street thief. He formed his own street gang of thugs and is referred to as “The King of Thieves”.
Bebop and Rocksteady are living somewhere in New Jersey working as antiheroes. They’re happily married and adopted 3 mutant children, their names are Koya, Hob, and Sheena.
As for the villains, they are either arrested by the Utrom, dead, or declared a truce with the turtles and friends.

Do you have a headcanon name for Kraang Prime? Me personally, I like to call him Ch’Rell, from the 2003 show.
Lol, you know, I’ve never really thought much about something like that. I always just called 2012 Kraang Prime “Kraang Prime” and Rose Krang “Krang”
I do like how the 2003 Utroms all have names though. I think it makes them feel more friendly.
Good question! :]

ermmm i was encouraged by one of my dear friends to send this to you,, i was just thinking about it while reading
Tumblr media
(LOVE THE WRITING BTW!!! i dunno if you were already thinking about this while writing so.....)
So I’m not ENTIRELY sure if there’s a question in here about mystic powers and sounds but either way this provides me a perfect chance to rant about my headcanon for Kraang, Dimension X, and mysticism so I’m going to take it lol
—SLIGHT spoiler warning for the following paragraphs if ya haven’t gotten to the Kraang Barbarian parts and/or haven’t put together WHO the Barbarian is yet—
So, I’ve imagined Dimension X as sort of a ‘mother’ dimension. Not so much that it created the entire turtleverse or anything but more so that it’s the CENTRAL dimension that connects them all.
Therefore Dimension X is where ALL versions of Kraang originate and they’re ALL from the same base dimension, simply different parts of it. And with a dimension there comes diversity in its inhabitants and habitats.
Now onto its history; at its earliest point, Dimension X was FULL of mysticism. The various species that evolved to survive did so by incorporating mysticism into their evolution. The Kraang/Utrom species was no different.
As of right now, the oldest surviving Kraang is the Rise version. They’re the least separated from their original species. They still have a deep connection with mysticism and their original biology.
2012 Kraang (both Prime and Utrom), however, evolved out of the need for mysticism despite other creatures in Dimension X still utilizing it. They rely much more heavily on metal technology than they do their biology/biotech, and eventually mysticism just wasn’t important to survival anymore.
When that change first started, it made the Rise Kraang (aka Barbarians) absolutely furious. Especially at 2012 Kraang Prime, as they were leading this shift. And then when 2012 Prime finally took over they officially ousted any Kraang that opposed them (Utrom) as well as those that continued to utilize mysticism. (Barbarians) ((you can bet that the bad blood between them is still very much present hehe))
The Barbarians mostly complied and took their Technodrome out to the farthest reaches of Dimension X to raze other mystic dimensions that were still connected to Dimension X. And where were those far reaches they retreated to? Where they subsequently preyed on each other until only three remained? And that eventually turned into a destroyed wasteland? Well, to Rise, it’s known as the Prison Dimension.
So that’s why sound has such an affect on the creatures of Dimension X. It’s because they’re mystic, too, just like the Rise boys. It’s also why it doesn’t have an affect on the 2012 Kraang/Utrom, because they’ve evolved too far. Sound could still 100% work to disorientate and weaken the Barbarians, too, but no one has ANY idea how to do that/the correct pitch and they won’t even think of it until after everything happens.
OKAY RANT OVER BYE THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLIMENT AND THE CHANCE TO RANT🧡🧡🧡

I feel like hopefully stirring up a discussion/inspiring people to share their own thoughts, so have some headcanons I have regarding the Krangs' fucked-up society/biology/etc:
—The Krang as we see them are basically a space-parasite that glommed onto the utrom species. The utrom scientists of yore poked Dimension X too hard (the dimension just past the prison dimension and right before the nothingness that sits at the center of all realities), and accidentally unleashed the eldritch horrors that existed within. i.e. The aforementioned parasites. The utrom ended up being completely overtaken, cordyceps-and-ants style, and countless lives across the galaxy were destroyed as a result of them not leaving well enough alone. Nice work, ya chucklefucks.
—Krang morality is… weird. They do understand there’s a separation between right and wrong, and as a group they tend to try to stick to the “right” side of the equation. And despite being just a shade away from being a hivemind, they can even have individual moral codes about what they personally view as acceptable and reprehensible.
It’s just that unfortunately, their definition of “right vs. wrong” is very different from the rest of the universe. That whole “we’re stronger which means we know better than everyone else” mentality.
—They genuinely think they’re helping when they assimilate planets. Uno wasn’t spouting bullshit when he declared “I am saving this WEAK planet!” Because, really, why would he bother to bullshit at that point? He’d thought his victory was assured, and that Leo would either die at Raph’s hand or be beaten down enough to get krangified himself. Why bother making that statement if he didn’t 100% believe it?
As far as the Krang see it, they are the strongest beings in existence. Only the strong deserve to live. By assimilating other lifeforms, they’re gifting them the strength of the Krang, essentially granting them the right to life. There’s a reason Uno described their goals as a “crusade.” If any other Krang had been around to hear him say he was “saving” earth, they’d have agreed wholeheartedly.
(The “I am a gift!” –line would’ve elicited some eyerolls, though. Not that he’d have cared – as far as he’s concerned he’s just stating the facts, but anyway.)
—What we saw of Earth’s invasion – both in the snippet of the future and present-day events – was far, far more violent and cruel than how Krang invasions typically go. (Example: At one point Casey mentions a “Krang labor camp.” Which, considering they have the ability to krangify whoever/WHATever they want, the Krang shouldn’t logically have a need for a labor camp. They made one anyway.) This is for two reasons:
First, there were only three true Krang doing the invading. We see mechsuits marching around in the future, sure, but we don’t actually see any Krang inside them. This is because it’s just empty tech the sibs built to enforce their will/probably just to deal with the tech Donnie built to combat them. Since the sibs couldn’t rely on numbers to take out their enemies cleanly, they had to utilize brute-force and make things messy.
Second, Uno says, and I quote: “The people of this planet will pay for what they’ve done to me.” The assimilation of earth was personal. He (+his siblings, I can only imagine) were fucking pissed, and putting the hurt on the creatures who took down his entire species was just as much the goal as conquering them was.
—Absolutely none of the chemicals that help determine humans’ emotions can be found in any of the Krang. As such, certain earthling emotional responses are literally beyond their comprehension when they’re functioning how they’re supposed to. They don’t feel anxiety, for example. They can feel fear, but there needs to be immediate danger present for them to get to that point. Which, considering their whole “strength is the end-all-be-all; the weak can get fucked” mentality, isn’t exactly something they would openly indulge in anyway, but you get it. In fact, most emotional responses besides all-out rage are considered the Krang equivalent of going clinically insane in their society.
(Like with humans who’ve been driven insane, these responses are usually brought on by trauma.)
—Bouncing off of this, they’re mostly incapable of feeling empathy or compassion. Not entirely, granted, but it’s essentially only towards members of the little packs they’ll form amongst themselves, and even then there’s limits. Frankly, if they start to exhibit too much of either, they’d be placed into the same “insane” classification above. Too much empathy/compassion will inevitably endanger the Krangs’ collective mission, so more often than not offenders are put down rather quickly.
Note: I really need to emphasize that instances of the above (Krang feeling empathy or compassion/displaying extreme emotional responses that aren’t rage) are not ever a “ooh this individual from an Always Evil species saw the light and now they’re a good guy!” –situation. Krang who end up like this tend to be extremely erratic, and not particularly lucid. Their brains are not functioning the way they’re supposed to if they gain access to this spectrum of emotions, and it’s abundantly obvious. When I say these things qualify them as being insane, I mean it.
—Krang do actually place importance on familial bonds, it’s just that said bonds aren’t usually based on any kind of genetic connection. Krang “siblings,” for example, are overwhelmingly not related in the slightest, and are completely family of choice. The deciding factors between becoming siblings versus just being comrades is that in addition to just being a pragmatic alliance, they actually like each other.
—It’s genetically impossible for Krangs to become inbred or suffer any kind of defects based on the relations of their parents, which plays a part in them not really needing to keep track of who they share genetic material with. Hilariously, though, mating with their chosen siblings is just as much of a taboo for them as sleeping with genetic siblings is for humans. Most would be utterly disgusted at the very suggestion. There is very little in common between human and Krang morality, but that’s one of the few places they overlap.
—Romantic connections are much rarer than the sibling packs they form, but not unheard of. Generally speaking, Krang usually just pair off with the most pragmatic match available during their mating period, and then don’t care if they never see each other again. But it’s perfectly possible for them to form a bond with one partner in particular, integrate them into whatever group they may currently be a part of, and then default to them during the mating period.
(The Krang: The only species where “You’re my default” is actually an incredibly romantic thing to say to your partner.)
—The Krang are hermaphrodites, capable of either inseminating or becoming pregnant depending on the situation. There are differences between males and females, just none involving reproductive organs: Females have heightened reflexes, males have a thicker hide (females have eight layers of skin, males have twelve). Baby Krang, being born fully cognizant (if much smaller and maybe a bit more naive than the adults), need to decide what their sex is the second they pop out, and are then responsible for producing the proper chemicals until they hit puberty to ensure their chosen sex.
(Note: Attempting to produce all the chemicals to try to get the benefits of both sexes will result in the Krang-equivalent of an autoimmune disease. This is highly unrecommended for this reason.)
—Tying in with the above, Krangs’ collective idea of “gender” boils down to like. Stats basically. Did you opt for speed or durability? Masculinity and femininity are completely foreign (and useless) concepts to them.
—The Krang mating process is a combination of several animals I’ve read about. They all have a hectocotylus tentacle (the middle one on their right sides, if you’re wondering), which one partner will remove and present to the mate they’ve decided will carry the new Krang. The babies gestate (Krang will carry between about 50-70 palm-sized spawn at a time), and then when the time is right the kids will eat their way out of their parent. Krang are a lot spongier than most species, so unless things go horribly wrong they’ll survive giving birth, but it’s every bit as agonizing as you’d expect it to be.
—When mating, it's the Krang who’s deemed the stronger of the pair who gets the privilege of carrying the children, considering how violent the birthing process is. Which like, that’s rough buddy, but eh I mean tradeoff they’re also the only ones who actually get any kind of pleasure from the process? Krangs’ hectocotylus tentacles are numb (and y’know. Not attached to the owners body by that point in the event) so it’s not like the ones donating are having any fun...
—There’s four different kinds of Krang within the species: Makers, Interrogators, Assimilators, and Footsoldiers, all categorized by the unique abilities they do or don’t have.
Makers are known for their ability to infuse the essence/power of the Krang into things. Think the flawless synchronization the three Krang we see have with their mechsuits, or hell – the Dark Armor. All made by maker-Krang.
Interrogators are characterized by their ability to literally burrow into people’s minds to collect information. We all saw how that worked.
Assimilators are the ones capturing things in meat vines and turning them into mindless zombies for the Krang cause. They differ from Makers in that, while their control is fairly superficial, all things considered, they can take control of near anything. It’s ultimately irrelevant whether they're controlling a living person or an inanimate object (like a friggin train, as we saw in the movie), but their powers are noticeably more effective on living organisms. Makers, though their connection/control of what they infuse Krang energy to is close to absolute, can only do this with nonliving items. Which then drain the lifeforce/essence/souls of any non-Krang lifeforms who were unfortunate/stupid enough to try to control them.
Footsoldiers are defined by the fact that they don’t have any special abilities. Two’s a Footsoldier, and this is actually why she’s so fuckin feral with “no character development.” It was either prove she was strong by constantly being the craziest motherfucker in the room, or slip down to the bottom of the barrel.
—Despite what you might think based on the clear lines being drawn amongst “types,” there’s no caste system in place. They value strength above all else, which could come from any type. (It’s just that unfortunately for Two, it’s a lot harder for Footsoldiers to prove their strength than the other three.)
—It’s not uncommon for Krang to keep “pets” of some of the species they assimilate. They can grow just as attached to their pets as they would towards any of their siblings/defaults, it’s just that unfortunately everything said pet used to be before getting Krangified tends to get wiped clean. If Leo hadn’t shown up to rescue him, Raph had been on his way to becoming Uno’s new pet.
—Two words: Environmental mimicry.
Prior to being infected by the Krang parasite, utrom were an aquatic species (amphibious technically, but semantics). They had a number of things in common with a variety of earthen cephalopods, octopi in particular. Octopi are really, really good at blending in with their environments, and can do everything from changing color to changing their texture. Utrom had a similar ability. Not so much to blend in with their physical environments, granted (though they could do that too), but blending in with other species. In short, they can shapeshift without a cloaking brooch.
This is very much a forgotten skill amongst the Krang, or at the very least no living Krang knows of it. Which, yeah, sample size of three, but the point stands. Krang are infinitely more aggressive than utrom were, and as such tend to (literally) tackle problems/adversaries head-on. They’ve had no need to disguise themselves for millennia, so over the years they collectively forgot they even could. Still, it remains something within the scope of their abilities, even if they never make use of it.
—Krang secrete mucus when stressed. Leo refers to the Krang as “slimeballs” in the movie, they're not actually all that slimy. Because looking at it from a biological standpoint, the reason why creatures are “slimy” (think amphibians and worms), is because their skin needs to be wet for them to absorb oxygen. The Krang, being aliens, might not even need oxygen, or if they do I question whether they’d process it the same as earth creatures. So there wouldn’t really be a need for them to be slimy 24/7. Instead, it's reserved for situations where they're in some form of distress. It makes them more difficult to grab in a potentially deadly situation, see, since Krang are most likely to feel stressed when faced with someone stronger who has murder on their mind.

Let's hear the whole gang, not just Leo, too! Just a couple each is fine, but we can't leave them out! :D
Alrighty! Here’s a link to Leo’s headcanons in case anyone missed them!
Raphael
To help with his temper tantrums as a kid, Splinter found an old drum set and put it together for Raph. He told him anytime he feels angry he can bet the drums. At first it worked but over time Raph actually started to learn how to play the drums and got good at it. His brothers enjoyed hearing him play so much that they begged to their dad to find them instruments for themselves to also learn how to play.
Raph loves watching Spanish soap operas. He watches them so often that he has become fluent in speaking Spanish. Often his brothers will walk in on him watching his soaps, screaming at the characters in Spanish for their dumb choices.
Donatello
Donnie has secret storage areas and safes hidden around the lair to keep things away from his brothers, mainly sweet treats, snacks, and rare collector items.
Donnie knows how to speak Japanese (not as fluent as Leo though), French, Latin, knows Morse cod, and also knows sign language (though it’s difficult for him since he only has three fingers)
Michelangelo
Mikey has no sense of privacy and will go through his brothers stuff whenever he’s bored or is looking for something he knows they have that he wants to “borrow”. This can sometimes lead to many confrontations and blackmail opportunities from the secrets or embarrassing things Mikey “accidentally” finds in his brothers’ rooms.
Mikey’s love language is giving gifts, making snacks and sweet treats he made himself to give to Renet. He always makes her special snacks or delicious bake goods to eat while she goes on a time traveling trips.
April O’Neil
April refuses to talk to the Utrom Rook. She reminds her of her old friend Irma and brings back too many memories she doesn’t wish to relive and feels uncomfortable around her.
Despite have the ability to read everyone’s minds, April has a huge sense of privacy and refuses to read the turtles or any of her friends thoughts. She feels it’s an invasion of their privacy and breaking their trust by looking into their minds without their consent, the only time when she does read anyone’s minds is for missions.
Casey Jones
Casey’s parents are divorced, his mom left his dad for another man when he’s was little. Casey and his little sister now live with there dad, but sometimes they go and visit their mom who lives out of state (whenever there’s an ep that Casey is not in, this is my headcanon to where he is during that ep, he’s visiting his mom)
After Karai kissed him while she was under the brainworm’s control, while he did enjoy and it spark a new attraction towards Karai, Casey felt he broke “the bro code” for kissing his best friend’s sister, so he never told Raph or any of the turtles about the kiss.
Karai
Karai likes to help Mikey with his pranks on his brothers but will deny any involvement in the scheme when asked or accused.
Sometimes Karai would go to Leo and ask him to tell her stories about their father, wanting to know how Splinter raised the turtles and what kind of parent he was like. Sometimes Leo also tell Karai stories that Splinter used to tell him and his brother when they were children.

👊 👊 grum and/or subprime?
Tumblr media
Grum likes plants. They don't really have much space inside their Pod to put anything tho, so they don't have any up until later. Sometime after opening their own workshop, they have tiny plants hanging from the ceiling. Their own living space above the workshop is a green oasis of exotic plants all around. They use spare parts from vehicles and devices to craft a variety of pots for all the plants they own.
Opposed to any claims they made, Grum actually enjoys cold alcoholic beverages, if the percentage is not too high. They're up to share a beer with a good friend after finishing work. Generally, Utrom get drunk quickly because of their small size, but never for long due to their strong digestion and fast blood circulation. The same is the case with Grum, too.
Tumblr media
While Bishop usually picks Matcha or Green Tea as his beverage of choice on Earth, Subprime is all about five Espressos to get him through the day. The more caffeine to fuel his angry tantrums, the better. (lightly joking here, but there is a true core to this)
Subprime doesn't really give a damn about decorations. He prefers functionalism over aesthetics in his hideouts. However, he does like a complete 180° turn for his 'Irma' persona. If he were to create a fake apartment, he'd have posters of popular music bands, nerdy teen books, fake plants, and pink neon lights all over the place. He doesn't mind going back to using that exosuit and going all in on his role again.

25 yr old TMNT ‘12 Brothers HC’s
(These headcanon’s can also apply to the Shell Shocked au)
• Mikey is the most unintentional heartbreaker when he gets older. He’s sweet, he knows how to cook, he’s got a big heart and a bright spirit and smile to match! But can he read romantic advances? Nope! Half the time his brothers don’t know how he dated when they were younger.
• Its a funny joke that Leo can’t cook, but I like to think he actually can. His main focus, along with Mikey’s help, is Japanese cuisine. He loves making soups and broths. Takoyaki is a favorite of his recently and has become a bit of a comfort food. Miso soup is something he makes for him and his brothers after missions as a good pick me up.
• Raphael is through and through an animal person. He has a small problem with bringing home stray cats, especially during kitten season. Donnie had to intervene after he brought home a mom and her litter of 8 kittens. He secretly helps local TNR organizations by anonymously dropping off food and supplies when he can.
• Donnie, April, and Casey all share a close friendship later down the line. After all the love drama they all just decided to take a step back and focus on themselves. They find that they work better as more friends than anything. April drills Donnie on getting enough sleep, Donnie bugs Casey about the scrapes he gets when he and Raph go on night patrols, Casey bugs them both about trying and such. Making sure they eat and rest before anything.
• the boys definitely play Cards against Humanity. Leo wasn’t up for it at first but later on reveled in the games answers. The others keep it up just to have Leo laugh every once and a while.
• Mikey asks Donnie to help build (steal) a gaming station for him to play on. Leo often sits with Mikey to watch him play and help him with some trickier puzzles.
• Night Watcher originally was a way for Raph to blow off steam after everything was said and done show wise to help blow off steam away from his brothers when they weren’t on patrols. Nowadays Raph is one of the only ones who does constant patrols as Night Watcher.
• Leo is a bit of a shut in. Donnie has made the suggestion to open up a dojo, teach a new generation of ninja and Leo has thought about it but he feels as though he isn’t ready. Opening a dojo means coming to terms with everything that’s happened to him and his brothers. He isn’t ready to face that noise just yet.
• Donnie is also a shut it but that’s just due to his inventions and how often he’s off world with the Utrom. Whenever he gets back he usually sleeps majority of his time or tinkers.
• Leo sleeps under a weighted, insulated cover. Helps him sleep easier and deeper. Also keeps his knee from smarting if the temp drops in the lair.

Mikey and April
They are each other’s stray cats
When Mikey meets April he literally acts in the exact same way he would if she were a frightened kitten. Beats up the thing threatening his creature, scoops her into his arms, and says to his brothers, “Can I keep her?” And then takes her home and gives firm instructions they should get him when she wakes, he’ll be listening to music. Tell me it wouldn’t be the exact same story on Mikey’s part if she had been a cat.
And meanwhile April allows her creatures to approach at their pace, let’s them into her home, bribes them with food (okay food Mikey and Donnie ordered but still), and tries to keep them—especially Mikey—away from fragile items. They are all cats in this show. Except for the, uh, rat. Sorry Master Splinter.
April and Mikey understand each other on a spiritual level. It isn’t very long after they meet that the banter begins, with her pretending to have ruined his comic books and him turning the lights off on her. They have fun and make each other laugh. They’re also very respectful of each other’s boundaries. Like when Mikey comes into her shop during a fight to say hi, when she protests and he realizes, he immediately gives the most sincere apology we’ve heard from him at that point in the show (maybe ever?) and backs right out. Or when Mikey wants to be a superhero and all of his brothers are making fun of him, but April rolls up her sleeves and helps him find an outfit. It takes them very little time to earn each other’s trust, and once they have it they never betray it.
I think the show under utilized their youngest sibling solidarity. Makes sense because Robyn is in one episode, and I don’t think age order is even stated (is Robyn younger in 2003? I’m pretty sure she’s older in Mirage and I like younger sibling April so I’m gonna pretend Robyn’s older). Anyway it would’ve been fun to see April remembering what being the youngest is like and sticking up for Mikey, reasonably or unreasonably. Could’ve been a cool bonding opportunity with Angel, too. But not very plot relevant so makes sense. I guess.
This friendship is so important for Mikey because she really is his first human friend. Donnie and Leo both seemed closer with the Professor (especially Donnie, but Leo is also shown to be trusting of the Shredder and the Utroms so I feel like it’s implied that the human thing isn’t a big deal to him), and Raph is close with Casey before he gets close with April. Mikey is the turtle who would want human friends the most. He shows the most interest in NYC culture and verbally states a desire to be part of the community more than once (the greater good thing). April’s first reaction on meeting them is screaming and fainting, so not great, but things turn around pretty fast and that had to have done a world of good for Mikey’s confidence.
You know how he’s obsessed with monster movies? I don’t think the irony is lost on him. Especially considering how quiet he immediately gets when Don points it out to him during Notes from Underground. The internalization of societal prejudice against him specifically is strong with this one. And in Mikey’s world, at fifteen, “society” irl is pretty much made up of April, Casey, and people who want to kill him. Thank goodness for April and Casey.
Some headcanons:
April is Mikey’s maid of honor just like he was hers
They are the party planning duo. Birthdays with the Splinterson-O’Neil clan are off the charts
They would have so much fun shopping together
April buys all the Turtle Titan merch
Most likely duo to argue about food. Does pineapple go on pizza? Sushi yes or no. How much hot sauce is too much. Why are you adding cilantro I hate cilantro—
