Henry is pulled into politics through personal ties. His desire to oppose the Sigismund camp is desire for revenge. His desire to revenge himself upon Istvan is stronger than his desire to revenge himself upon Markvart because Istvan spoke to him as a person. He’s only committed to Wenceslas’ side because people he likes are committed to it (Radzig, Hans) and because the other side did him wrong.
In KCD2, crucially, Henry sets aside the deaths of the Rattay soldiers far more easily than Hans, who carries a resentment against Zizka even when they’re forced together to survive. He’s not affected as personally; revenge against Zizka’s troops isn’t a dealbreaker. He brings himself to speak to the Cuman mercenaries. His desire for revenge is sated. Henry loses most of what drives him forward over the course of the second game. Radzig is absent, Hans is absent, the Wenceslas camp makes less and less reliable alliances. Henry has no real ideological connection to the Wenceslavians. Weak-willed and bootlicking as Hans can be at times, he at least understands what the difference would be between a muscular, centralized, war-making king and a figurehead relying on nobles to govern their own regions.
I’d argue that untethering through the game leads Henry to the single most important part of the story: Sam. Henry’s very last mechanical choice is to commit to his political affiliation and fulfil the mission to the utmost or to prioritize his new brother above everything else. If he leaves Sam, he enters into a world where the loss/revenge cycle starts again. That’s the point at which Henry sticks to his original motivation or departs. A Henry who stays with Sam is the same one who joined the fight for his parents and went back to bury them or die. A Henry who tries to move fast, stop the siege, save the lives of Pisek’s men, and preserve the silver to rebuild their side is one who has a view beyond just himself. That’s the point at which he can move on / the point at which he can stay as Henry. The ethically worse choice is to preserve Sam, and I don’t think Henry can choose otherwise and remain intact.
If Henry was in this war to avenge his parents -> he knows he can’t handle that grief again -> he must save Sam or else he knows he will inflict on himself the worst pain he knows
If Henry was in this war to fulfil a bond with Radzig and/or Hans -> Hans will be ransomed, Radzig isn’t at the fort, there is nothing that the really cares about that’s at risk if he delays -> Henry has to save Sam for the same reasons
If Henry grew to understand Zizka and Liechtenstein’s political stance / Godwin’s philosophy -> he believes in something bigger than himself -> he can willingly take on that pain and sacrifice Sam

ik it was intended primarily for funny show reasons but shassie is just a crazy dichotomy. Guy with commitment issues vs guy who commits too hard. Guy with no dad vs guy with too much dad. Guy with net negative social skills who desperately wants them vs guy with incredible insight into people who hates himself for having it. Guy who’s surly and mean to hide need to be loved vs guy who’s breezy and charming to hide need to be loved

Fills me with RAGE that the Trinity Santos thinkpieces are about "wow we hated her because she was a jerk and suspected our favorite white boy of stealing meds but she was RIGHT and that blew all our minds! Unpleasant women can be right too!" And not "wow this interesting character who builds fraught connections with half the people in this building and has a weird relationship with male authority was revealed to have been molested in a scene where she protects someone else from the same thing, what a complex heroine"

yk, I want Bludhaven’s Nightwing and Gotham’s Nightwing to be different.
In Gotham, obviously there are. A lot more people. There, he is “the nice one” (compared to the others).
In Bludhaven? Blud-worse crime rate than Gotham-Haven, managed only by Nightwing? There’s no fuckin way.
Personally I don’t think it’s. Mainly a conscious decision or smth? Just he does more in Bludhaven and maybe ends up being generally less cheery? Or smth. He’s more willing to be (externally) tired with Bludhaven than he would be with Gotham.
Idk, smth for him to really embody the Terror of Bludhaven title yk? Nightwing is Bludhaven’s Batman; you know like, before robin and everything. He works too hard and he’s something to be scared of. He is Bludhaven’s Batman - just a bit more flippy & quippy (and a lot more friends).

Fable (about Legend): You know, despite being a seventeen-year-old boy, he is somehow the least likely person you'll see chasing a skirt.
Wild: Well, maybe he isn't after skirts.
Fable *deadpan*: Well, he definitely isn't after pants either. Be it to wear or to get in someone else's!

Thought too long about yanshen sending letters back and forth during periods where they're apart. Shen Qiao would send really sweet letters describing things he'd been up to, towards the end there'd be a small section where he very meekly tells YWS the bed is quite cold these nights. Or the robes he left behind have lost the smell of him. Cute little things to avoid telling YWS his chest is aching when he wakes up without him.
Yan Wushi on the other hand. Probably writes complaining about random things but then 75% of the letter is so wildly explicit. Literally nothing but filth about everything he's gonna do to his husband when he gets home.
Shen Qiao very quickly learns he has to read Yan Wushi's letters alone in the evenings.

The old switcheroo trick, except they're not even subtle about it. They just go about their day, getting every person on the Subway to do a double take. Lol

Headcannon time!
It's hard to cook anything on the bounty. Not because the ovens probably insanely old or its a ship, but because they all have such different tastes.
Like Jay is allergic to peanuts Maybe even Lloyd too (I fully believe that) Nya hates spice or anything too flavorful (Jay also has a low spice tolerance) but Kai loves it. Zane just doesent gaf he believes no food should go to waste, so he's not really a problem here unless he's the one cooking. Cole likes the weirdest foods ever, yet his cooking really isn't that bad anymore. The others just genuinely dislike what he makes (Except Lloyd he's a literal feral trash panda who will eat anything and you don't get to tell me otherwise)
Exceppttt I think Lloyd and Wu have some weird hybrid genes going on there so they'll hate the most random ingredient ever and start like hissing. I find that hilarious for whatever reason
So yeah making a meal is a battle plan and they usually end up making like 4 different dishes to please everyone (Luckily Zane enjoys cooking and Lloyd likes joining him)
