Hi! Do you have some ideas in regards to facial differences and fun/cool make-up?

I'm planning to re-design a character, and was planning to give her a port wine stain during the redesign; she's also the type of character who'd really enjoy fun/cool make-up, like stuff that incorporates rhinestones or wild eyeliner shapes. I feel like she might enjoy incorporating her port wine stain into the make-up, but I'm drawing a blank as to how she might do that, and all google gives me is how to cover them, which is the exact opposite of what I and the character want. Are there any resources you could point me to? Or am I missing something that'd make it distasteful to put so much attention on her FD, even positive attention, since I don't have one? (I'll definitely try to have some more characters with FDs who are just, like, neutral about them/don't draw attention to them through make-up like that, but the character in question is one of the main characters so I want her design done before focusing on the more minor characters)

I will preface this by saying that I'm a guy with close to zero experience or knowledge about make-up, if I misuse any basic terms or am ignorant about it, I apologize!

The idea of a character incorporating their birthmark into make-up is really fun! I definitely don't think it would be distasteful. I can easily imagine an influencer with a facial difference deciding to do something like this!

Some of the cool things she could do;

She could make it stand out more, rather than less - maybe make the color pop; make it more brightly red (or purple, or any other color hers is)?

Coordinate colors! Matching the color of her birthmark with her lipstick, or eyeshadow, or anything else. Or fun palettes; maybe a sunset gradient that incorporates the port wine stain's color?

Make fun shapes with it! If she has PWS spots, she could maybe turn them into stars, or if the whole thing is visible enough, maybe she could make it into a heart?

Adding rhinestones actually sounds awesome! It probably depends on where on her face it is, but maybe she could frame the stones to go around it, or point towards it?

She can of course wear regular make-up that doesn't put any additional attention to her PWS, there's no issue with that. Just don't make her cover it (but you know that!).

Personally, the rhinestone idea sounds the most exciting to me! There's something high fashion, or maybe even royal-esque about it that characters with facial differences don't really normally get. I would love to see that.

I think that, assuming your character has internet access, the lack of resources is an issue you could bring up in the story. A "why do I have to do everything myself, there's only so many ideas I can think of!" or "no, Unspecified Search Engine, not how to hide it- oh my god, why is it so useless" kind of scenario when she can't find anything new to do when she's out of ideas or hitting the artblock. I've been there when trying to find tutorials on drawing people with facial differences. This is how being a disabled artist kinda is.

And well, sounds like you got a lick of that facial difference experience ;-) (winky face). Now, imagine if incorporating FDs into art was popular and this wasn't an issue- okay, I probably made this point in too many posts now, but if your body of work ever gets published/popular, it could have an effect on things like this! I love seeing facial differences shown as something to be proud of and not to hide. I also enjoy that you mentioned additional side characters with FD. Thank you!

I originally planned to run it as an event during a certain time period, but I found that making it an event intimidated me out of actually making the idea happen. I just think that I’m a lot more confident in my ideas when I don’t overthink it! Therefore, instead of running an event, I’m just putting this challenge out into the atmosphere for people to take it and run with it.

☆ Redesign Time/Have Tea With Me: The Black Characters of Hazbin Hotel, The Radio Demon ☆

Note: Okay I kinda feel like a cheat because it isn't a whole redesign, it's just two sketchy headshots. Sorry it's not a full design. Sorry also it isn't my Stolitz Rewrite... but I have 10 followers now!! I know that's not alot but hey, it means people actually WANT to read these blogs and see my art. I'll take it!!)

Ahoy Matey's!! So there has been two controversies going on withing the Hazbin Hotel fandom. 1 has been long term while the other is semi recent.

Have tea with me while we talk about it 🫖🍵:

1. The black/people of color don't have any features of their race.

2. Alastor's voodoo symbols.

I will not be talking about Alastor's voodoo. I am a white boy and I am not educated enough to talk about Voodoo. What I'm here to talk about is that none of the poc look like poc. Let's play another game. What is the race of these characters:

Have your guess? Their black. Sera is black, Velvette is black, and Alastor is Creole. All are black and or mixed and none of them have any ethnic features. All of them are gray. (I'm just saying it's sad when me, a white boy that has 2c/3a hair, has curlier hair then people with textured hair.)

(Also, Alastor, who is not a good guy but is the good guy team, is light gray. Velvette, who is on the villains side, is dark gray. I'm not accusing Viv of being racist but I find it weird.)

The problem is so easy to fix. GIVE THEM ETHNIC FEATURES!! ITS SO EASY!! No one's expecting you to draw every individual braid or dreadlock but oh my god!! Give them textured hair! Or I don't know, NOT ASHY GRAY SKIN!! BLACK PEOPLE ARE BEAUTIFUL VIV!! YOU CAN MAKE THEM BROWN ITS OKAY I SWEAR!! Sorry that got aggressive. Look, I just said that I am not a poc but there's no way they don't have black people on the SpindleHorse team. Hell, you can just ask people on Twitter or the black people you know!! Seriously, it's not hard to learn to draw ethnic features! It's really fun actually! I had so much fun drawing the second hairstyle!! Speaking if which!! (Drum noises)

Drawing these hairstyles were so fun yall. Andddddd, you get a sneak peak at what my Alastor redesign might look like! If you can tell what I'm going for then you get a cookie. Dude the second hairstyles was so fun. Like honestly. I do think I can do the first hairstyle, (I think I know the nameof this hairstyle but I don't want to be wrong.), better but thats for me to practice on my own time. Seriously I had so much fun drawing these. Hell I didn't even line them. Those are sketches with colors. These aren't final designs or anything, I still need to adjust colors and get his outfit planned out but I think I know where I'm going with this!!

It's just really sad seeing how SpindleHorse treats its poc characters. Textured hair can come in so many different types and hairstyles, you just wasting them making have straight hair with choppy waves. (Side note: Does anyone else like get excited when they draw new things? Like I was happy drawing Al's hair. I got excited learning how to draw my curls. I tried learning how to draw a hijab. It's really fun actually!! I highly suggest to challenge yourself drawing other types of hair types, races, religions, clothing. Seriously it helps your art and representation is important.)

There were other examples I couldn't list but I don't want this to be long. I want to get back to my Stolitz post but I HAD to draw Alastor with textured hair. Seriously Viv, he's Creole, at least make him look like it if your not even going to try and make him look like what he's described.

I have about 60% of the Stolitz post done! I encourage you to draw something new and to commit mass amounts of tax fraud!! Goodbye Matey's!!

As for the Error Sans thing, I'm actually not personally a fan of all the crazy Sans AUs. Error Sans, Ink Sans, Dream Sans, Nightmare Sans, Fresh Sans, Geno Sans, Horror Sansss,,, uhg, I'm personally not a fan. So none of these world destroying Sans or other similar individuals exist in my Multiverse. So my squad doesn't have to worry about them <XD

My redesign plans for Kinger was just to give him a fluffier coat basically XD And I didn't have anything in mind for Jax..

Right now the main difference that I made up is that Undertale humans are significantly more powerful than Deltarune Humans.

DR Humans and Monsters are the same in terms of strength. For example, Kris and Susie's soul are of the same value and strength. Because they're both Lighteners. They're one in the same.

Meanwhile in Undertale, Humans and Monsters are very different creatures. Determined UT Humans, even determined children have the power to rewrite time. Meanwhile I headcannond that DR humans, even if they had determination.. cannot rewrite time like Frisk can.

All of this is completely made up and doesn't really align with the games, I'm aware- its just some fun XDD

By father I assume you mean Natquik? If so, Barnacles was never angry or resentful towards him. My version of Barnacles thought Natquik was dead, because he disappeared many years ago and no one had any idea where he went..

Barnacles was rather grief stricken over Natquik. He wondered for years what happened to his old mentor and friend..

When it turned out he was alive, and had just been stranded in the Antarctic all these years? It was heartbreaking. Barnacles was so happy to see him alive but also so saddened by the situation he had been in for so long.. Barnacles immediately set to have the Gup-I repaired and a solid radio connection between it and the Octopod to be established.

Later on when he formed the Octo-agents. I headcannond that the very first person Barnacles went to recruit was Natquik. Telling him all the benefits of being an Octo-Agent. And he would say things like "If something ever happens to you out here, we have the funds and the means to be out here in less than an hour. If you're ever hurt o-or sick? We can be here. We can help you. You'd never be alone again.."

Natquik took the offer partially because Barnacles would clearly be more at ease if he did. But also to have a secure connection to the outside world? And if that connection is ever lost, a team of capable individuals will immediately go and search for him? It was just too good to pass up.

What's Foxy's grief stereotype/virus method? I'm not quite sure I understand the question so forgive me if I give the wrong answer.. But I'm thinking that means "what is Foxy's mental situation in the swap AU?" If that's the case, his mental state can be described in 1 sentence. "He refuses to move on."

Partial Swap Foxy was deeply effected by the loss of Freddy and Chica. So much so that he kind'a acts like.. they're still around.?

The other animatronics have cut out anything Freddy/Chica related in their lives. But for Foxy, the act of removing/avoiding everything Freddy/Chica related just makes the grief more painful. To him it feels like he's discarding their memory. Like doing that is saying they didn't matter or shouldn't be remembered. It just makes them feel more dead..

Foxy is the only animatronic that will go back to that old show stage. Sometimes in his darkest times he will talk to the stage. As if Freddy and Chica are still standing on it and can hear him..

When talking to Gregory, he is similar to Freddy. Acting all chipper and like nothing is wrong. Though if Freddy and Chica are mentioned.. he wouldn't avoid the subject like Freddy would. He would talk about them, even if it rips him up from the inside. He would answer all of Gregory's questions about them and tell him stories. Even if it brought him to tears and their memory was almost too painful to bear. Foxy refuses to let go of the past. And despite how painful it is, he keeps dragging the past around with him like a dead weight. Freddy does the same thing but as he drags the past around he refuses to look at it. If.. If that makes sense--

Basically- Freddy and Foxy are both stuck in the past. But Freddy refuses to acknowledge that he is. And Foxy openly acknowledges it, even if it kills him inside..

(Also note: The main obstacle that Foxy would pose to little Vanessa is that Foxy is faster than Bonnie. And as a Glamrock, Foxy is pretty tough. So if he finds out that Bonnie is hiding a child in his stomach hatch? Well.. he might just have the means necessary to catch Bonnie and rip her out.. :x )

For the second question! Partial swap Freddy is more openly miserable than Classic Bonnie, yes.. But he doesn't miss the singing and the spot light. He misses his friends and making kids happy.

Seeing how sad all his friends are.. seeing how messed up Foxy is.. how defeated Bonnie is.. that's what depresses him. That's what makes him cry..

I imagined that Freddy just threw the old clothes away. They were really dirty and torn and Gregory didn't care about them.

He probably took some trash out of a bin, put the clothes in and then put the trash on top. Effectively burying the clothes so that no one would see it.

HI ID LOVE TO HEAR ABT YOUR SONIC FORCES AU HEHE..... love those redesigns

hii !!!! i'm glad ur interested in my au, atm i don't have stuff writen abt it, as i mentioned once in a few tags, all my ideas sort of, just, live in my head, but i'll do my best to organize them here for u !!

the main characters of this au are sonic and shadow. both of them start working together after shadow finds and rescues sonic from a sandstorm in the dessert. he initially only intends to bring sonic back to the resistance, but first, both of them have to prove sonic's identity in order for him to join in, since he has been lost for so long, and also because of infinite's illusions taking sonic's form causing trouble and confusion to the resistance. in the end, shadow joins as well to create a plan in order to defeat infinite.

tails is also a prominent part of this au. he is, for the most part of the story, helping the resistance from the shadows before joining them. he's got his own squad even! omega, and an illussion of classic sonic created by a phantom ruby prototype tails carries with him. this sonic follows him around and responds to any given command.

as for the leaders of the resistance, amy is in charge of logistics and strategy, meanwhile knuckles is actively fighting in the battlefield and is training new recruits.

and finally, infinite. he's a soldier himself, and the general of eggman's forces. not many actually know his name, so, the general public usually refers to him as "the scarlet soldier". he didn't have any special abilities before obtaining the ruby besides his tactical knowledge.

i planned to give the other characters their own cool names. i already have amy's code name decided, she'll be "oracle". as for sonic, i'll just call him nick. it's simple, and it's cute. hehe...sonick.....

and that's like, the main idea of it, let me know if you would like to know anything more specific !!!

Hm, no. My mom has an uncle with the same name, but he's not the reason for my name.

Just this morning. It's been quite a month, but honestly I do cry easily.

3. Do you have kids?

It's only me and my OCs! And I plan on keeping it that way~ Love kids, but don't ever want to have my own. I'm actually terrified of the idea.

4. What sports do you play/have you played?

I took ballet and swimming lessons as a kid. Then capoeira and contemporary dance in high school, I also gave judo a try once. - I wanna try capoeira again.

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Yes, but usually only around people I'm comfortable with.

6. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Hmmm.... this might sound bad, but their looks. Clothes, hair, accessories, body shape, face features... That's just how my artist brain works, studying details to use later :9

Usually I would say only happy endings, but recently I've been learning to enjoy horror movies with my sister's help. So I guess both, depending on the mood and company.

I have great sense of direction. I can lick my elbow. I can walk without making any sounds (that scares people a lot, it's almost a curse at this point). I give great cafuné.

Hi I just wanna say I love your redesigns for the creepypasta characters! I'm curious what weapons does each character use and what abilities do they have if they have any?

Thank you! Some of these mfs I have been very unsure about. I need to draw their other outfits. Like their fancy lil suits. Slenderman has a dress code for his proxys however the rules of it are not super strict. They can wear what they like so long as it meets his criteria. (Gonna be hard to draw Wilson ina suit without making him look like some kinda wanna be joker :o( )

This is gonna seem unnecessarily long but I feel like I do need to explain a few things about how Slendermans Proxys work in PM as well as how living humans are affected by just being in the underworld because it isn't made for living humans.

There's also as far as weapons go that, while they DO have weapons they ENJOY to use most, Slenderman is very particular about how things are done so they don't always get to use them. Proxys are more like Hitman or assassins (at least Slendermans are). I'll give some faves for each of the 3 main fuckers living with Slendy (who aren't 100% OCs) currently as I'm still figuring out anyone else who may show up (I have plans for EJ to show up and potentially may start working on my own version of Toby as well as a few other OCs who are Proxys for other Opporaters in the Underworld)

As for abilities I think even the humans have at least one natural ability. Humans who get hurt in the underworld don't really always heal like they should because they aren't meant to live there. When a monsters that live down there hears "human" In the context of someone living there. They assume that you mean someone who died and is now living there as an undead. They assume Zombie or Ghost, potentially even a poltergeist. But never just a breathing living human. So when living humans do get hurt the same "magical grid" (for lack of better words) keeping them from dying also heals serious injuries in a way to try and prevent the same injury from happening. It's a whole thing and I'll explain how it works with each character (in this post specifically Jeff and Wilson)

That being said I'll stop rambling and actually answer the fuckin question!

I will put a trigger warning for things like blood and mentions of self harm and mild body horror(?) (I think ripping flesh counts for that if not for mild blood/gore this is specifically for Jeff split mouth. Not sure anyone will be bothered but better safe than sorry.)

Weapons - Jeff enjoys using knives mostly (shocker!) however he doesn't use them a lot while actually doing Proxy work. In fact he most commonly will just SNIPE a mf. He doesn't particularly LIKE when his job is that quick or easy but hes also not complaining, it's easy money. (Jeff the killer with a gun is also just really fucking funny to think about). he's always stoked when told that he won't be able to kill from a range though and that he'll have to actually get close and personal. But him not being able to kill with knives doesn't mean he doesn't still use them. Killing is his job but cooking is his passion and for him the two go very hand in hand.

Abilities- Jeff is just a human guy like I said so his Mouth scars didn't heal normally. He got them just before getting to the underworld and they were only partially healed but in his early days with Slenderman he did end up making them even worse. When they healed however he found out shortly after that he could reopen them and close them at will and it didn't hurt. In short his mouth can open up similar to a snakes. I've drawn it before in a previous Ref sheet, here's how it looks.

Other abilities he has are really just because of training. Though he does tend to accidentally sneak up on people despite the fact hes fucking HUGE. Man just doesn't make sound when he enters a room and it's not really an intentional thing. He will seemingly just pop up out of nowhere like a spooky ass ghost.

WILSON CROSS

Weapons - He likes machetes. That's really all there is to say. Wilson is still in training at the Institute and unlike Jeff he doesn't care as much about the professionalism Slenderman insist his Proxys have. While he follows his rules he does try and find ways around them because he is actually trying to make things fun for himself.

Abilities - Like Jeff, Wilson is human. He's been in the underworld for FAR longer, he grew up down there and has a couple different things the biggest being that after coming through the well that brought him to the underworld Wilson DID fall into the river Styx and was found and pulled out of it By Frankie and Jackie. If your familiar with how the River Styx works you know anyone who falls in that shit gets the Curse of Achilles. Which probably sounds fucking WILD. The obvious upside is that hes just really fucking hard to stop. The man seemingly just doesn't feel much pain. However even in the underworld where he won't die he still if hit in the right spot will go down like a bag of bricks and he's not getting up until he's had time to heal. Which can take a few days. If he's in the over world he WILL just fucking DIE. So he has to be a Lot More careful up there. Imagine you just trip and fall the wrong way and fucking DIE. Aside from that though he can bend and turn and just overall move in weird ways due to the amount of bones he's broken growing up in the underworld and how they healed weird like with Jeff's mouth and of course Wilson being an idiot. Seriously, some of the stories he has are just summed up to him being a dumbass. Only a couple people who know his weakness aside from Jackie and Frankie is Jeff.

Jackie Ragzdale

Weapons - While they technically do work for Slenderman they aren't actually proxy however they do still kill on occasion for personal reasons and funniest shit I just thought it was silly is that they will use various weapons however Jackie is a Toyfolk and thus all their weapons are made IN TOY LAND. So they might pull a shot gun out of their box, sure but it's going to LOOK like a toy. It won't LOOK real. It's gonna look like a full-sized toy shotgun but it is in every aspect a REAL ASS GUN. And I just find that so funny. And they ALSO find it funny. They will go "STICK EM UP THIS A ROBBERY!" Knowing damn well no one is gonna think that's a real ass gun and then laugh at their surprise when they shoot and it's revealed to be a real ass fucking gun! This is made worse when you take into account they do just have Prop/fake weapons in there as well so sometimes they will just fuck with people by using a fake one and being like "Haha gotcha!" In short they like Toy weapons that are real weapons but look like fake ones.

Abilities -Compared to the original cannon LJ, Ragz doesn't have nearly as many abilities. They have 3 different forms though.

They have a Toy Decoy, which is basically exactly what it sounds like where they just are a seemingly normal inanimate toy, this is for when they're in their box but either not home, busy, or just simply don't want to come out of it.

The second form is a smaller doll like form. Which lets them appear as a regular toy but still be able to move around. They usually use it to scare people who don't know they're alive. Other times they use the doll form is when they need to hide, are hella tired, or when dealing with children. They often are in the form when spending time with Sally.

The 3rd form is the form they most usually are in.

Other than that they can very easily switch out their body parts. They want different arms they can just swap them if they want. They do have to be made with materials from toyland to work properly however.

That's all as far as the main character who are technically Rewrites who use weapons or have abilities right now. Everyone else is either an OC or I'm still developing/designing and coming up with their backstory.

Part One (Astral Express

Random post ideas I got, but I'm just listing my opinions on aspects of the HSR designs, including things I may dislike or would at least change about certain playable HSR design, because I am currently planning some of my own designs/redesigns to use for future art

Disclaimer!! I am not a professional character designer, I am not saying any of my ideas for them are objectively better, and I am not bashing any of these designs. I actually like most if not literally all of the playable designs so far! This is just my lil opinions of how I would change them

The List part 1:

Stelle: I actually like the turquoise band around her thigh, I just don't like how they didn't take the opportunity to sprinkle in some more of that color into her design. She had a lot of little details in her outfit, especially the back of her coat, so there's a lot of places where a few splashes of turquoise could be added whether in those little details or in some of her other adornments just so that the band stands out less . I think I would change more than just that ofc, but that's one of the things about her that stood out the most to me. Also honestly? Maybe I would scale down the sheer amount of detail she has on her back (which as someone who has tried to draw her from the back view o h my g o d), and add some more detail on her sides like her arms and her legs maybe? I dunno, I think her design is really really nice, but there are places the amount of details could be more evenly spread to.

March 7th: While I don't mind her design that is especially center around her top half, March definitely has a clutter design particularly around her waist when you look at her full body in detail. Clutter that manages to mix in some odd color choices too/ I'd probably clean it up, or better place the little bits of clutter to feel like it matches more and change up the colors in order to at least go with the rest of her outfit. Like the gold makes sense, not only with her details of golden buttons throughout her design but also the golden ticket she holds showing she is passenger of the Astral Express, but why the black fabric? How is it supposed to work in terms of construction with the rest of her outfit, I'd keep her black to only the little accented bands on her thigh and neck rather than anything big on her waist. Why is the thing holding her camera orange, why does she have this random bright green button, why does she have seemingly two different belts?? I think March would have a better sense of what goes together than that. Overall, still an adorable design.

Dan Heng: He is very nicely designed, and I think a lot of his personality comes through in it, way better than any alternative for him. I feel like I can get a better sense of his nature and overall how he feels and who he is in it. The one unfortunate aspect of his design for me though is that it feels a bit... bland? for a lack of better word. Not that he's devoid of details or anything, very nice to see him not having a particularly busy design, but a lot of those meaningful details tend to be pushed to his back or his arms. I would probably bring a few more of the details that can be to the front or maybe add more? It just feels as though there is something lacking in the design, maybe more on a coloration front than construction. Speaking of coloration, I'd likely change the way the details around his waist are colored, all the same hue and yet different shades also getting an ombre? It's a little messy, but not a big issue to be honest. That's just my view of it though, still love his design for how much it really lets his character shine through unlike Another One which I will eventually get into and explain my thoughts on in the Luofu post.

Himeko: Listen, she's beautiful, she's gorgeous. I absolutely adore her and her color palette especially, it's such a nice blend of elements with the gold all mixed in. However, her silhouette is awful like it's so messy, and I really dislike how weighed down she feels. I wish she looked just a bit different, wish her clothes looked a bit lighter. She's a Nameless, she's their navigator, she's the one who repaired the Astral Express herself!! I wish she had more details to reflect all of that, and I already have ideas for how it could be done that would end up alleviating some of the weight placed on her with all of those heavy, layered fabrics. Additionally, I think there's a better way to highlight those elements while still making her look elegant, gorgeous, and ornate. Yeah, I love Himeko, I do like her currently design a lot, but I think more could be done to show off more sides of her. She's the one I probably have the clearest image for so far. Like I can imagine her in a nice set of slacks, a deep brown tone that goes well with her coat, and either on the sides or the front of the bottom, they have slits revealing these ruffles showing through similar to the ruffles of her coat sleeves. They have golden adornments along them, very sleek and fitting her figure well to keep with a very elegant appearance. Perhaps she has suspenders as well, maybe only one side to fit with their habit of asymmetrical designs. All with a nice white blouse or even some kind of button up, buttons popped open and collar folded in a more fashionable style. Even more hammering on the asymmetry, maybe for side where she actually wears her coat, the sleeve is much shorter to not interfere with the jacket's ruffles. I don't know, that's just a little idea of changing up the construction of her outfit that I had, but I'll see how it looks on paper when I draw it.

Welt: Okay listen, I need to look up more about his lore before I can truly say anything about him. Looking at his design, and with what I do know about him, I do adore it. His color palette here with the grey tones making up the majority of it for his upper body with the accents of an almost like cool toned brown and the darker shades of grey and black coming in. It's so nicely balanced, I don't feel like he had too many elements or too many overlapping fabrics that complicate the shape. It's a competent design, and while I think someone with more knowledge on him could find more places to add details, with what I know about him, I do really like the way he looks. If I were to change one thing... I would give him more wrinkles. I know why his physical appearance doesn't match what his true age is, but I still think he deserves a few more wrinkles PLEASE that's the only way I can think to truly elevate him at the moment, give him a few more wrinkles he'd look so good with them. Whenever I see art of people giving him more wrinkles I ascend... Okay well, I can think of something I would do color wise, but I'm still on the fence about it.

I think I'll leave things there for now. I don't have as much to say on these designs in particular. I think generally they're pretty solid, and even with the ones I can think of more changes for like Himeko's, I still greatly adore a lot of elements from it. The Astral Express' base designs definitely aren't the ones I have a lot of gripes with or things to say aside from suggestions for Himeko, we'll get to those eventually (those ones in particular are Serval and DH IL, both for primarily character reasons rather than aesthetic reasons like some other opinions I have.) But yeah, the next post will be for the Stellaron Hunters since I couldn't fit them into this so look out for that!

my demon oc's are just for fun! they belong to a series of stories "demonicismos" which i don't plan on ever writting. sometimes i don't even remember their stories! i always find myself revising these characters and changing stuff about them and how their world works. i haven't got the opportunity to infodump about these uys in years (actually counting for how long some of them have been around is making me sick)

im going to talk a lot about them. like. A LOT

checking the demonicismos tag on my blog led me to discover i have never really posted much about them, despite the fact that i made charater charts in 2020 or something (unavailable to me atm. most drawings of these characters are away from me rn)

nowadays i don't really care much about them. i've thought about doing a digital card game with them like south park: phone destroyer (yes i used to be into south park. im not ashamed of it. im using this example bc i really liked how a kid could only ever be in the battle field one side at the time. if your opponent played character A and you also had that one, you had to wait until they opponent's died. i also thought about playing around with character dinamics. if a character saw someone they hated join their team, they'd join the enemy team and vice-versa. i got distracted so i never started programming it)

currently im mostly trying to redesign the characters as an exercise for myself. these were the original concepts for egil (pink), marcel (orange/red) and antonio (yellow), versus more recently (i am unhappy in regards to marcel and antonio)

Design Rules

my ideas have changed over time and with them how characters should look. first there weren't any rules, i just drew whatever. then i choose that every demon should have horns and a tail even in human form - it would be a reminder of what they lost. they'd never be human again. then i went back and forth on how much demons could change their shape. it ended with all demons having a human form and a demon form, with some having specific shapeshifting habilities but always with horns and a tail (egil can stretch his limbs but mostly does so in order to be the tallest guy in the room) my last rule, added for this exercise, is that all demons always have their human face. the idea came from that undertale quote - "despite everything its still you" no matter what you do its still you. the good. the bad. you. demons can blame their behaviour on the "corruptive nature of hell" but its them

Basic Lore

i debated myself over wheter or not i'd talk indept about worldbuilding lore, which would triple this post's size. let's go through the basics. people die and become demons in hell. hell is divided into numbered layers and where someone goes after they die is judged according to the motto "nobody deserves to suffer". people that actively stopped others from suffering go to layer 1 and people that found joy in other's suffering go to 9. a demon belongs to a layer but can go to the ones below it, but not above (demons from 5 can go to 6,7,8,9 but not 4,3,2,1). demons are souls, and their physical bodies are made of mud transformed by that soul. i was inspired by some papers i read on witchcraft. demons couldn't manifets physical bodies so they'd trick people with smoke, gases and dust in the air a demon can only have one body at a time. if their arm is cut off 1) they reattach it or 2) a new one grows at the same pace the other turns back into mud. if the entire body is destroyed they reform from the mud in ground demons dont need to eat or sleep but feel hunger and sleepyness. hell is a punishement for their behaviour so layer 1 is ok, layer 9 is... not. money is also a thing. because this is hell

demons have powers based on personality and character flaws

a demon's size is based on their strength - how big their soul is - but their human form is the size of their human alive self. there are 3 ways for a soul to grow. 1) feel strong emotions, then rest and absorve those emotions. its important to rest. 2) cannibalism. eating other demons body part will give that part's strength 3) deals. a demon can share their power. deals are fast but demand consent. cannibalism is slow but nobody can stop it

Finally talking about the Characters

i don't remember very well the first story i made. it was about a boy that had another boy living in his head. and the boy in his head was really angry because he couldn't do anything and when he got extra angry things started to burn and melt around them

miguel (or michael or any other version of this name)... actually i just remembered i wanted to do this guy's story

Egil. his original design was based off angel dust from the hazbin hotel pilot and i don't think he has changed that much.

those blue branches on his head are the guy who killed him. there are ways to permanetly end a demon and after egil did that, the dude fused into his head. the pink arms and legs are rubber gloves/boots. he's a biologist, specialized in genetics. his house/layer is full of vats filled with unnatural stuff growing in there. he doesn't have friends, he's prone to anger and always has to be the smartest person in a room - this goes with his tendency to always be the tallest person in a room. his shapeshifting powers come from his unhappines with himself and inferiority complex. he used to love biology but now tries to gain knowledge just so he can know more than the people around him. he gets angry easily so he's an unpleasant person to be around so he doesn't have any friends so he convinces himself he doesn't need anyone and i hope im making sense here

antonio and marcel. father and son. marcel my baby. you deserve a redesign more than anything

back when the stories where set in an alternative earth with history similar to ours, antonio was an italian american. now i don't know. he went around killing fascists and made immortality magic so strong one of those "get rid of you permanetly" things just sent him to hell and is now lodge in his heart. he can remove the sword and use it as a weapon but his beating human heart is there and removing it will kill him permanently (unless you put the sword through another heart) in hell he had time to think and understood that he was only killing fascists to saciate his bloodthirst on people he deemed deserving of death. the true way of ending fascism is with good infrastructure and school system. killing fascists became an hobby

marcel... my sweet son marcel that deserves better colors. rules don't apply to him he can do whatever he wants and i'd let him. technically a cannibal

quick sketch of the sisters. i don't rememeber their names. i dont even remember if they had names. based on a bird and on a pupper/spider. cannibal vs deals

they're both very manipulative. the bird one, the older sister, always got the upper hand at home so the spider one let out her frustrations by manipulating and controlling people. the bird one can turn people to birds and control them if they hear her play her harp. this counts as cannibalism (slow and no consent needed). the spider one manipulates weaker demons into bellonging to her by deals. in their story they end up fighting each other as they scream their frustrations, coming to the conclusion that everything is their mother's fault (wrong)

barbara and barbara, one is based off a carnivorous plant and the other a bear

i had never thought of them as friends until i started the redesigns but now i kinda like the idea. they're both cannibals with my favourite being the plant one. in this drawing she's missing teeth on those big green jaws. she closes them with some guy inside and digests him

i have so many more characters but i've also been writting this the whole afternoon

How am i going to organize my Miraculous' remakes: Part 1/2 - Redesigning the heroes outfits

*Remember, these are just my personal thougths. It's up to you if you agree with them or not.*

First of all, I want to make it clear that I actually LOVE the canon heroes designs. It's not a sudden thing though; It takes me a while to get used and process all the information on the outfit, but after that, I start to appreciate it. It's just that sometimes I miss some few extra details in the costumes, or I think something else could replace the original idea they decided to go with. So, instead of waiting for some random artist to magically know how to make a hero design that satisfies me, I decided to do it myself.

And let me say that I always found it interesting when someone describes and explains each choice and meaning behind a character's design and how they came to the conclusion that it made sense to them, so I'll try to reproduce the same here.

Below I'm leaving a bunch of listed basic and concrete information (at least for me) that I plan to use with Miraculous characters so I can proceed with the outfit redesigns. Wanted to share cause this may help some of you that also want to start your own redrawings:

1. Every superhero will have a jumpsuit as the base piece of clothing

Just so I don't freak out trying to decide what to do. I know that Thomas probably based himself in the classical comic-books heroes. And when a pattern is set, I avoid deviating from it. Even for aerodynamic reasons the best thing would be that the clothes didn't have a lot of weight, although the other way around might be more fun.

By the way, speaking of this, I would like to thank @officialfanbug (who, ironically, is not a fan of the ideia of everyone using jumpsuits) for inspiring me to start this Miraculous blog based on redesigns and rewriting in general. Your criative mind and thinking, especially for someone who wants to work with animation/design (even though I ain't sure about the specific area right now) is one of the reasons for me to think about exposing my drawings publicly on a site that I like

2. I try to be consistent with the character's style, behavior and wills

That's why I don't want to change any of the characters looks, both as civilians or akumatized villains; I rely on some of their forms as akumatized villains or simply in their everyday style attribute (for colors tones, custom extra garment). Even things that were shown or said in just one episode have an effect when designing the outfit. I will specify each of these things separately per post when addressing a particular holder.

3. Following the Miraculouses', Kwamis' and the animals which the Kwamis were based appearence is important to me

So I just have this ideia that the official miraculous' holders should portray all of their respective kwamis aspects, as they represent the kwami, the animal and the miraculous itself most of the time (THEY NEED TO BE THE BEST OUT OF THE BEST BECAUSE OF THEIR SCREEN TIME!!!!! MY EYES MUST BE PLEASED EVERYTIME THEY APPEAR) and yes even the smallest of the details such as the position of a mark in the kwami's body. That being, I prefer to be coherent with these 3 things. It's like a mix, in short.

I feel like this whole post is a bit disorganized and that I would like to add so many other things with another words, but for now, I'll leave it like this. Also I didn't check my english spelling, so this text might have a BUNCH of errors. But anyways, just ignore it

Here we are with the very first art post! There is loads to cover and a lot more I have planned, so I'm just going to drop every work I've done of my characters so far here. With some explanation of course, because leaving you in the dark without context would be pretty confusing.

My first character I ever made was Enzo Rennstein. He was actually a scrapped character design from long before I ever came up with this book. I rediscovered him and gave him a major redesign because his first art was pretty awful. (it's lost, but I couldn't draw physical proportions at all) As you can see I've somewhat improved, this picture is from months ago.

For those unfamiliar with his design, I hope you like him! I'm very passionate about Enzo and I've drawn him about a million times. (Another thing I'll add is if you want to draw any of my characters or give me suggestions for anything, the answer is yes! I've been asked a lot before so I'll just answer that now.)

When I created Sötnos Rennstein, I realized Enzo wasn't connected to anything like a story. I also recognized they had some unintentional similarities at the time, (Maybe that was because I was so excited about Enzo it burned into my style for a while.) so I made them brothers. Enzo is oldest, and Sötnos was born third in his family. (He has a twin sister named Almah who is older than him by a few minutes, but we can talk about her later.) Once again, I'm absolutely clueless as to where the very first artwork of Sötnos is. However, here's the oldest pictures I have on hand of him.

Totally don't pay attention to the tiny shirt and low-rise pants photo. I get funky with my characters a lot too... If you notice my art style shifts and changes a lot, well that's because it does.

Aside from all that, you'll notice my characters each have one consistent outfit for them. That's sort of how I remember them all better? Blue stripes and a red necktie stick in my mind more easily than a name or face, if I'm honest.

I planned to submit my ideas about the mane 6, before I did any next gen bios. Oh well.

These are the designs of the mane six while the show was taking place in my next gen, so these are not their mom designs. Also many things play out different in this universe than in the show, so keep that in mind :D

First off with Rainbow Dash:

I like many others made Dash short. The shortest of the group to be exact. Someone that's so short with a Rainbow Dash level of confidence is endearing to me. Dash is second most physically fit, being in the wonderbolts and all. Kept her long hair, because she's rocking it. She has pretty big wings that help her with flight and being one of the fastest pegasi.

Fluttershy:

She is the most slender of the mane 6, but not the tallest. She's third tallest actually. Taller than Rarity but shorter than Twilight. She has very long hair, and it's all natural. Fluttershy has a little bit of a fluffy/feathery chest. Overall she is a little fluffy and cozy. I didn't end up changing much for Fluttershy, since I already really love her design.

Pinkie Pie:

Pinkie is the second shortest of the group and is also a little chubby(man, I need to get better at conveying body types). She has some dense curly parts of her coat to reflect her mane. Pinkie has some small spots scattered over parts of her body, even on her ears! Pinkie also has a little bit of fluff near her hooves.

Applejack:

She is the second tallest of the mane 6, only because one of them is an alicorn. Applejack was definitely the tallest before Twi became one. She is definitely the most strong and bulky, since she does a lot of manual labor in her day-to-day life. Applejack has a lot of freckles most noticeably on her face, shoulders and lower back. She has the same hoof design thing as her brother Big Mac, and the brown on her legs is actually the color of her coat, not dirt! I made a lot of changes to AJ, because once I filled her in with the canon colors I just thought she looked so boring. I wanted to change that so I gave her a bunch of details, and made her colors even more earthy.

Rarity:

She is about the average height of a pony mare(a little ironic, huh). Rarity has a more curved figure with small legs and thicker body. Changed up her mane quite a bit from the show. I actually spent some time drawing her mane so I knew how it worked. I wanted to do her justice. I gave her the body markings to make her look more regal, and in a blue-gray hue to go with her eyes and cutie mark.

Twilight Sparkle:

Twilight is the tallest being that she is an alicorn and thus has long legs, horn and neck. Before she ascended, Twilight was pretty uniform in her features. She was slightly shorter than Rarity, but had a longer horn. Pretty much the only design change I had for Twi is the slight tweaks I made to her mane. I think she looks very cute.

When I upload their mother design, I'll share my headcanons for their personalities and what they have accomplished. I'm not sure if their markings will all be passed down into their children. I'll have to make that decision, hmmm, but at least the very least they look nice in them! I didn't want to go too ham with the design changes for this universe, since the overall theme of it is that I've become too attached~ I plan to a different redesign of them at a later date and go crazy with it! Also I don't usually add hair shine to characters, but I wanted to add a little bit of spice, since most of them just have hair with one color. I think it looks nice though!

Aw thanks! I care for you as well! (also you help prove my point that people come to me asking for my opinions lol, so thank you for that!)

But uh, I don't really have any queer headcanons outside of what has already become known on this blog lol. For some reason I just can't put effort into making headcanons for these characters. I think it's because they are a lot more established than the NSR characters and have lots of lore behind them.

I'll try to give what I do have so far though! Maybe a new one will pop up while typing this.

-Peni using kit/kitself pronouns

-Hobie using it/they pronouns mainly

-Actually, I like aroace Hobie too! Put that one down for me as well!

-Miles being bisexual

-Gwen is straight and trans

-Ganke is probably gay. I have a few asks with him I still need to answer about that I think.

-I don't personally have this, but there's an ask for T4T Pav and Gaya which I think is super cute (and hope to draw for so sorry that hasn't been answered yet).

-Peter Porker being genderfluid, or like some kind of genderfluid (like librafluid or something like that on the agender spectrum).

-I don't know anything about Jessica's lore, but I like the idea her husband is a transman and they used IVF or a sperm donor for Jess to get pregnant (Jess sees herself as straight but she is in a queer relationship so kinda counts for this)

-There was an ask about Miguel being a lesbian that I kinda liked (another one I want to draw for). Though I think personally I won't be using this headcanon, it is a cool one to think about like the T4T Pav and Gaya one!

-Noir being agender. Or somewhere on that spectrum. I forget what an asker sent in for a specific label, maybe it was agender switched from NB (or the other way around), either way they/them Noir!

-Honestly T4T MJ and Peter B is one that I might lean into

-Lesbian Margo is one I am thinking of leaning into as well (mainly because someone sent an ask for Margo and Tila which I honestly think is so cute and again want to draw that).

-Also Peni and Yinu becoming a couple (another ask I got) is something I can see happening (Yinu in the NSpidR AU is about 13 going on 14 and Peni would be about 14 going on 15, somewhere in that range. Similar with Margo and Tila, Margo is like 17, maybe 18, for me while Tila is 18 maybe about to be 19 if Margo is 18. I don't have set ages honestly).

-Um... I don't know, I kinda like the idea that the Vulture is a gay old man that acts like those two muppets that make fun of everyone lol. Him and Elivy could talk mad trash about stuff hehe

-Olivia might be an aroace lesbian.

-I definitely think Jonathan has some queerness to him but don't know exactly what (now all I can think of are glory hole jokes lol!)

So yeah, I think that's all I got. Got a few new ones along with acknowledging some asks I got from a while ago I do plan on trying to answer at some point. Honestly most of these were from asks that I got from other people and I just absorbed their headcanons into my canon lol.

Especially that Peter Porker one! I initially was gonna have him be the cishet one of the group but then the whole looney tunes/bugs bunny genderfluid thing came up and I just had to incorporate that!

Is there anything about discord's design you would change or do you think he's fine as is?

OH. my god, ive been thinking about this exact thing for WEEKS

the thing about my little pony's character designs for me is that most of them are already perfect for their purpose. the mane 6 are instantly recognizable, similarly shaped so they can use the same molds for six different characters' toys, and are very, very cute. their manes, subspecies (unicorn, pegasus, earth pony, alicorn) and body language make it so their silhouettes are distinct and recognizable even without body variation. so when i try to take a stab at redesigning them, i find that i in some way or another accidentally make the design a lot WORSE, if not because they're less unique but because they'd be hard to animate.

that's a similar gripe i have with a lot of redesigns - they disregard the function that the original designs have. not only to be animated, but to make and sell toys of, to be instantly recognizable, easy(ish) to draw for children, and look good as a unified whole. when redesigned with illustration in mind, the designs become disconnected from the show in a way i personally dislike, but to each their own! i've run into the illustrator vs. animator problem a lot when approaching mlp designs specifically.

i know you asked about discord, I'M GETTING TO IT, but first, here's an example of a fluttershy redesign that i drew up a few days ago:

in my honest opinion, the silhouette would be messy and unclear even in illustrations/paintings, and it's both too complex and unsatisfyingly simplified. plus, i admittedly don't have many original ideas for any of the mane 6; everything that's a good idea AND somewhat faithful to their original designs has already been drawn and streamlined by other illustrators/artists way before i ever got to them!

so, we come to discord. my man. my main man who i love so much. my main gripe with his design is actually his colors - he's very very washed out for a character who is supposed to be a silly, colorful guy! part of why i think he's colored that way is because the writers never initially planned for him to come back or be redeemed, so he was designed exclusively as a representation of chaos and be a shorthand for a character who is "evil". also, despite looking deceptively simple, he is INCREDIBLY complex for what the show's usual visuals try to accomplish! which is great for a two-parter where he gets defeated, but not great for trying to animate him as a recurring character, which is only compounded by his celebrity voice actor probably being both expensive and busy. so basically my main gripe is that he was designed as a one-off villain but came back for the rest of the show, but it was too late to change his design

NOT TO MENTION that with the hindsight we have now and the backfill of his past from both the comics and show, his initial episode could have set up his loneliness a lot better, but you know, hindsight 20/20

i actually HAVE taken a stab at redesigning discord to be more appealing to me:

but a lot of the complexity problems are just compounded by the ideas i have. for instance, i like the idea of his mane flowing around in the air like eris in sinbad - almost like he's underwater! compared to celestia and luna's controlled and consistent manes moving slowly, predictably, and peacefully, his would just swish around as he moved and also whenever it felt like it. that'd be a pain in the ass to animate in any circumstance, but especially when you're working within the limitations of flash. i just think that it'd be a clear indicator of how powerful he is compared to the princesses - a moving mane signifies very, very powerful magic, and his moves even more than either of the princesses' manes do!

i just think that a lot of his design elements are really cool when you consider the lore. powerful alicorns have bigger horns - the more magic, the more horn there is, generally - it's mostly visible with the alicorn princesses. so discord having not one but TWO very large horns adds to the impression that he's very powerful within the show's lore - he has TWO HORNS!!! plus the mismatch adds to the chaos.

with his horns specifically, i wanted to lean more into the blue horn being specifically a goat horn by curling it up and turning it into more of a ram shaped horn. there's a lot of specialty goats out there with fancy horn shapes like this so i think it'd suit him. i did something similar with the deer horn, making it bigger, more twisted, and generally just adding a lot more branches to it and therefore unnecessary detail. but i think it looks pretty cool

i also wanted to take a stab at his legs, since it's pretty unclear that his goat leg IS a goat leg. and hes a DRACONequus, and his tail is generally considered a snake tail, so i wanted to change the lizard leg to a dragon leg. problem with that is, dragon legs are inconsistent! spike and the... the young six dragon girl i forgot her name, they have human-style legs, but many teenage and adult dragons have backwards knee legs like ponies. (sorry i don't know the technical names 😥) so it's generally pretty unclear what his lizard/dragon leg would be in any case. but i think adding a dew claw to his goat leg and making the cloven hoof a lot more defined would help with REALLY making it look like a goat leg

here's an admittedly pretty fuckin crappy drawing of the full design i had in mind ft. my lanky little fluttershy rework that im still working on. obviously this is all still a huge wip, the designs arent really set in stone yet

a few other changes i made to his eyes include giving him cuttlefish pupils (to really stress the weirdness of his general self), changed his eye shape (actually inspired by one of your ocs!!!!!!!!), and gave him little eyelashes because i personally think it makes him look more appealing and androgynous. i personally think he is not in possession of any binary so i let myself give him a little androgynous swag as a treat

speaking of appeal, i gave him a little kitty/bunny triangle nose because i think it'd be cute and it adds to his appeal, especially after he's redeemed. another thing i added to improve appeal to me personally was giving him another pokey-outey fang, but honestly i think it diminishes the effect of the fang altogether by removing the asymmetry and purposefully out of place look it had. i think the original design's choice is better, but i just wanted to try something different!

oh, also bat ears because they're cute and fun. i like discord's normal ears a LOT, they're super cute and floppy, but big ears would make the expressiveness of them shine a lot better imho!

in the end, i still definitely prefer the original discord's design, just because he perfectly expresses what he's meant to express. his colors may be a little unbalanced and jank, but that just adds to his concept as the lord of chaos and disharmony, so i honestly can't complain too much about it. my man is already peak character design but i DO think he's much more fun to draw when i draw him in my own fun, gay little way

most of my drawings of him are traditional so i don't have pics on hand! my design process is usually started on paper and then when i get more confident i move to digital :3

oh another thing i'm toying with in terms of redesigns/reworking lore, i like the idea of mlp unicorns looking distinctly like classical unicorns - fluffy ankles, the rope tails, and the classic beard. i was thinking about the beard perhaps being longer and more luxurious the more magical u are because i think itd be CUTE and a little funny, but then i'd have to give discord a mile long goatee/beard to signify his magical prowess just for consistency and i like his beard the way it is :(

OH, p.s. i'm aware that i called out other redesigns for being hard to animate and then proceeded to make an unnecessarily complex redesign of discord. i'm working on it :(
