AN: For the sake of this post and all future HTTYD posts, Snotlout is at LEAST 18 years old (in my mind, he is early 20’s) . Wrote this because there is not nearly enough content out there for live action Snotlout (or even Snotlout x reader in general). A = Aftercare: The KING of aftercare. He’ll run you a hot shower, then hop in with you and help you wash off. All while massaging your shoulders like his life depends on it. Then he’ll tuck you into bed and crawl in with you for the night.

B = Body Part (their favourite on you & on themselves): On himself, it’s his arms (shoulders included). He loves to flex in the mirror and flex to you anytime he gets. You definitely don’t mind though, because he is actually pretty built. On you, it’s your thighs. Receiving He’s into it if you’re into it. He would never want to pressure you into doing something you weren’t comfortable with, but now that he knows YOU enjoy it, he’s all for it. Gets him turned on just thinking about it.

Giving This man is a MUNCH. I cannot see him any other way. He is down bad for his woman and will give and give to your hearts content.

P = Pace: Slow and sensual, or fast and furious. There is no in between for him. It really depends on both of your moods. Some days the only thing he wants is some slow intimacy, and there’s other times where he fucks like a mad man. He will be sure to cater to your wants and desires first and foremost though.

Q = Quickies: Depends. If he’s stressed out and needs to let the feelings out, he is absolutely into it. But most of the time he likes to take his time with you and not rush through. And honestly it’s hard to find a place in Berk that’s appropriately hidden for a quickie.

R = Risks: He is totally into experimenting with you, as long as it’s not one of his “no’s”. But role-play or restraints? Absolutely something he wants to try out.

S = Stamina: He can go multiple rounds most days, but there are some times where he’s just so exhausted from the days work that he’ll go one round, clean you both up, and fall right asleep. It’s not his fault you’re so nice to lay next to, he can’t help that he falls asleep so quickly.

T = Toys: N/A (we’re in viking times people, i’m not introducing medieval torture devices)

U = Unfair: Snotlout is a total tease. He’ll grab your ass in public when he thinks nobody’s looking, and he knows you love it. During sex he’ll ask you dirty questions when he knows you can’t focus enough to answer, just to show himself how good he’s making you feel. However you are also quite the tease. You’ll get him all turned on at an inconvenient time, and you’ll watch him try to focus on the task he was previously doing (and failing miserably now, because all he can think about is you).

V = Vocal: WHINY. I just know this man is vocal and whiny in bed. Deep breathing, grunting, begging, the works. Now that he’s comfortable with you, he makes plenty of noise. He loves when you make noise in bed too, it really turns him on and gives him motivation.

W = Wild Card: He gets wildly jealous when you’re sitting close with any of the other guys. Not like a toxic level of jealousy, just enough that it makes him squirm. Even though he knows neither you nor any of the boys would betray him like that. He’ll always find a way to squeeze in to the conversation and make it about how he’s big and tough (you think it’s hilarious).

X = X-Ray: Above average size in both length and width. Cut. Keeps it well groomed. Safe to say he’s around 8 inches.

Y = Yearning: A secret yearner. He’ll write poems to you and keep them in his journal, never to see the light of day. He wrote so many that he had to get another journal after only a month. He’ll also draw candid sketches of you when you go on dates, and he’ll hesitantly show them to you once he’s finished. You are always sure to praise his drawings every chance you get because they’re actually spectacular. Deep down, he’s always been a romantic. He’d be sure to show you off every chance he got.

Z = Zzz: If you’re playing with his hair, he’s out cold in 5 minutes flat. He used to have a lot of trouble sleeping but not since you two got together. Now he sleeps like a baby (as long as you’re sharing a bed).

hi Vati. As per your recent angels art compilation, it pains me how A1's body language around an affectionate A2 is either:

1. Pulling away, a subtle rejection of the touch (not exactly rejection, more like ... disapproval? I recall that A1 does not like being touched, which is a neat contrast to A2 who seems to really enjoy touch -- also makes me think of your OC ship meme that showed A1's low libido yet high frequency of sex + A2's high libido despite not having sex much/at all.)

2. Letting it happen/playing along with a rueful (dare I say guilty) smile

As kids, their affectionate body language is still a bit fraught but much less so (A2's guilt over messing A1 up for life bc A1 seemingly imprinted on him hasn't set in yet, I presume?)

Also worth noting that A1 seems quite willing to touch A2 when it's STRICTLY not affectionate in the classic sense (in a comedic or romantic way), such as your art where he's carrying an injured A2 across his back.

It's very cool how you portray A1's conflicting feelings about A2's open adoration of him through these minute body/face cues. Stunning work.

Also. I must reiterate. P a i n . . .

a1 desperately craves connection, so he’s kind of constantly reaching out (even though it has yet to give him any sort of actual fulfillment). so in general, he’s much more comfortable initiating touch than receiving touch, regardless of intent

but yeah, he’s kinda got issues with physical contact as a whole, even with people he doesn’t have decades of history and baggage with. he’s always kind of just. tolerating the minimum amount of contact to. i don’t know. perform his idea of what intimacy is supposed to look like

a1 is very much… a people pleaser who’s convinced himself that he’s selfish and always acting in his own self interest. so like. i don’t think he even knows that he’s uncomfortable. he probably just thinks that everyone feels perpetually weird and unclean and he’s just a little behind the curve for not getting over it. also, he knows physical affection makes a2 happy so whatever he actually feels about it doesn’t even matter.

but i think the crux of the tragedy is that a2 is only comfortable initiating contact because he genuinely believes that he is the exception to a1’s aversion to touch, because

1. a1 is the exception for him, so it would make sense that he is the exception for a1. because you know, they are soulmates and meant to be etc etc

2. he trusts a1 to let him know if he doesn’t like something/is uncomfortable.

but no one crosses a1’s boundaries like a1 crosses a1’s boundaries so

I'm in a rambling mood so I’m gonna talk in more detail about Blinky X Kanjigar (Kansas) and why i think it’s neat so PLEASE HEAR ME OUT-

Okay so this entire thing started because of The Secret History of Trollkind, one of the tie-in comics for ToA, and while yes i know there’s controversy around the legitimacy of the tie-in books that is a separate discussion that I’ve already had (tldr: they are actually aligned with canon pretty well, Wizards just retconned a lot, didn’t watch the source material and people blindly nod along with it)

Anyways this all started with a certain panel near the end of the comic, this one specifically.

This panel is actually such a good demonstration of their dynamic as a whole now that I’m thinking about it.

With Blinky praising Kanjigars skills and showing his admiration for him (something I will get into more later and throughout) while showing concern for his well-being.

To Kanjigar putting an odd emphasis on specifically not failing and protecting Blinky before clarifying the rest of Trollkind as well.

to finally the hand placements going on in this panel, How Blinky is reaching out to Kanjigar as the latter doesn’t make a move back, Blinkys hands being opened while Kanjigars are closed off in fists.

Their dynamic in the comic (and overall) is just so fascinating to me, especially with how it shows just how much Blinky values Kanjigar, because you know his destiny speech? That iconic one said in the second episode of Trollhunters? That has lines ripped straight from things Kanjigar said during their journey across America to what would be Heartstone Trollmarket.

And unlike the similar moments in Wizards or ROTT it’s done so well and given such a good narrative reason. it’s to show just how much Kanjigar has helped change Blinkys world view, how he’s given him courage to not be as cowardly, to fight alongside Kanjigar and the others (Draal and Arrrgh) Like guys this spider of a troll admires this guy so much it hurts, especially with the rest of the info we’re given on their dynamic.

They’re described as Best Friends, Kanjigar was a Scholar before becoming Trollhunter, Blinky had to watch as Kanjigar died unable to do anything to stop it and one of his first reactions is to blame himself and say he could’ve done more to prevent it.

Which is where I get to ramble about the elephant in the room around these guys being so Doomed by the Narrative-core.

Okay quick context but the prologue in the first tie-in novel establishes how The Amulet tells the Trollhunter when they’re going to die right before it happens, so Kanjigar knows he’s going to die a day before it goes down, which gives us lines like

“-With his remaining time, the Trollhunter knew that he must say good-bye to those who were closest to him.”

”Kanjigar sat down beside the pair at the large reading table covered with open volumes and research scrolls and sighed, "For that, I apologize, my friends. I have been distracted of late. The burdens of the Trollhunter weigh heavily on my mind. But now. . . now I'm finally remembering what is most important to me."”

And a chapter or two later

“Blinky cried out at the top of his lungs to try to distract Bular. But the bridge was too far away. And so the two Trolls watched in horror as the Trollhunter plunged off the bridge and smashed against the canal floor into thousands of shards of rock.”

“"Why?" Blinky uttered in a hoarse whisper. "Why would Kanjigar not accept our assistance when we offered it earlier? Perhaps if I'd been more forceful in my-" "No," grumbled AAARRRGGHH!!!. "Kanjigar wanted it this way." "But... why?" Blinky had to ask again.”“

The slow progression of Kanjigar distancing himself more and more from those he cares about is something that i don’t see talked about much outside of Draal, people seem to not bring up how Kanjigar did it for all his loved ones, not JUST Draal.

(And even if it’s something that’s only really delved into in the books I think it’s still something that’d be a given? like why would he only do it with Draal but not others yknow?)

He used to bring Blinky and Arrrgh with him on patrols, Blinky has several memorabilia from their past adventures together, they were best friends I can’t emphasis this enough and watching as Kanjigar distanced himself from all of them makes me think about how differently him and Blinky go about protecting the other and their other loved ones overall.

Blinky doing so through being there, being present and willing to give advice or a helping hand ect.

which you can say is attributed to how both Dictatious’/Unkars deaths happened when he wasn’t there or present at the right time and later the same would happen to Kanjigar. I point back to my earlier reference of Blinky wondering why Kanjigar didn’t let him and Arrrgh join and help him with the added detail that Blinky was the one to initiate the request to accompany Kanjigar on his patrol.

”Kanjigar closed his eyes, exhaled, and stood up. "The sun has set above," said Kanjigar. "I had best begin my patrol." Blinky began, "Then let me gather my supplies so that AAARRRGGHH!!! and I might join -"”

And whenever Blinky does “fail” at protecting/helping a loved one, he puts the blame on himself, acting like he didn’t do enough or should’ve tried harder.

There’s also something to be said on how he doesn’t let himself truly feel many negative emotions and how there’s an argument to be made that he pushes down feelings like sadness, grief ect.

Like what was his reaction after Dictatious’ betrayal? Angrily burning his books, hell after his initial shock of seeing Dictatious alive and now sided with Gunmar Blinky quickly turned to anger.

When he thought Jim died at the end of season 3 of Trollhunters? Bro let a single tear fall from his eye and that’s it girl I know this is affecting you more than that.

Kanjigar and Vendels deaths? After the initial heartbreak bro just never addresses it after (which is totally not because of lack of episodes and poor writing no guys this has a deeper meaning I swear).

Moving on though with Kanjigar, he goes about protecting his loved ones by distancing himself from them, emotionally and physically (about the opposite of Blinky) and while yes you could say that’s just because of the pressure being Trollhunter has put on him, and I definitely do think that’s part of it, he’s always kinda been like that even before becoming Trollhunter?

He was worried/didn’t want Draal to pursue the path of the warrior, as he knew just how dangerous and deadly something like that is and while he had valid reasonings to be wary of such a career path, it resulted in him being dismissive and not engaging with Draal.

“But there was Draal the Deadly training in the pit, sparring with automated blades, dodging blasts of flame that shot from the floor. Off to the side, Jim saw another Kanjigar-this one also very much alive-paying more attention to the scroll in his hands than to Draal's practice.”

“"Father, did you see? I cleared the trials in less time than it took this morning—a new record! Are you not proud?" Jim watched the living Kanjigar pull himself away from his scroll long enough to say, "I'd be prouder if you'd put even half as much effort into your studies."“

It all just boils down to Kanjigar having good intentions but going about them in the wrong ways that ends up hurting his loved ones more than not.

Anyways back on track to what this post is supposed to be about and why I brought this up, I should mention now that while I love Kansas and think they should hold hands and frolick in the fields and be happy together, it just wouldn’t happen “canonically” aka what I think would realistically happen which is neither of them ever confessing to the other for several reasons.

One being wow! Kanjigar is- was- a married man! Draal needs to exist!!

And by the time Kanjigar does get divorced and separates from Ballustra that’s close to the time Deya dies and he becomes Trollhunter.

I do not think a recent divorce combined with becoming Trollhunter makes a good headspace combo to log back onto Grindr personally speaking.

These same reasons are why i think Blinky would also hold back on confessing anything because outside of him being a pansy loser- i doubt he’d try and confess to a guy who recently got divorced and with Kanjigar newly becoming Trollhunter which is already stressful enough, the last thing im sure he’d need is a friend of his walking up to him like “🌹🫦hey~” who he may possibly not even feel the same for, atleast from Blinkys pov.

and even after Trollmarket is established and time has passed, by then Kanjigar has probably dived further down into the mindset of “as the Trollhunter i have to distance myself from all of you” and being with Blinky would be the exact opposite of that.

And it’s hard to even think about trying to confess to someone who’s actively avoiding you and can’t even look you fully in the eyes.

Then of course the amulet starts ticking down to Kanjigars death, showing there isn’t anymore time to go back and truly reconcile or realize maybe this isn’t the best way to go about protecting the ones he values most, that maybe all he’s been doing is hurting them further.

So yeah neither of these guys are holding hands, all you are getting is yearning glances and the briefest of touches.

unless of course we bend “canon” which im not doing in this post so moving on-

Now that my foundations are layed i will finally bring up stuff from the actual series so do not fret, i have more to say about these guys outside of the tie-in book material, it’s just that the tie-in books give good background material.

At this point I think? I’ve established how Blinky praises Kanjigar but man dude, literally everytime Kanjigar is brought up in the series Blinky has something positive to say about him/praise him for.

One example being: ”Kanjigar was perhaps the most alert and able of all the Trollhunters.”

“But not the best, I'm betting.”

”Oh, the very best. Many songs and sagas have been written about him.”

Yet flash forward to Gnome Your Enemy and For The Glory Of Merlin and he says “-and our great Trollhunter, Deya the Deliverer-“

“Deya the Deliverer was the mightiest Trollhunter that ever lived.”

Blinky, my wonderful little Bi disaster, i need you to pick a lane. 💖

from KanjiAAARRRGGHH (which that episode I’ll get into more in a second) you have this “Kanjigar, why don't you simply talk with Vendel and the Tribunal? Surely, one of Trollmarket's greatest champions could persuade-“

KanjiAAARRRGGHH also showing Blinkys likely memorized all of Kanjigars moves is like the gayest thing you could ever do with someone who’s your “friend” can I be blunt about that ?

“Kanjigars creeping spider! A signature move.” Like gurl..

This next thing I talk about is definitely going into theory/delusion territory but isn’t that any fanon ship?

Okay so this

Blinkys reaction to Claire holding Jim’s hand in E14 I always found odd tonely, because they play such somber music over the scene once we land on Blinkys reaction and the way he looks at them? Like while yes I’m sure it’s him realizing “oh shit this kid is definitely gonna go into the Darklands for this girl” what if i inserted some delusion into this and said it’s also because he’s reminded of Kanjigar.

Like oh Trollhunter that would go to any lengths to protect and help his loved ones even if that comes at the cost of his well being.

And also from Claire’s side, even if Blinky has faith in Jim’s abilities I doubt Trollhunters are known to normally live long, atleast by Troll standards, so the fact Jim is a human child? there’s always a high possibility he could die at any moment, and leave Claire inadvertently heart broken.

And hmmm who else cared deeply for a Trollhunter who suffered an untimely death, one where he, himself had to watch without being able to help because he didn’t get there in time?

I’m just saying i think Blinky is reminded of himself and Kanjigar briefly in that scene that is all.

Honorable mention to this line because what did he mean by this I can't be the only one who thinks this has more meaning than just the current conversation happening, he’s just so strange dude.

And now finally.. KanjiAAARRRGGHH, oh KanjiAAARRRGGHH my magnum opus, my Roman Empire, one of my favorite episodes, the things I have to say about you..

The Flare, The Flare Kanjigar gives Blinky, an insignificant thing to anyone that isn’t an over analyzer/thinker but if this post hasn’t shown already, I am one of those so just wait and give me a second to explain the significance.

This Flare was grabbed from Blinkys library, which means Blinky likely bought it himself, that’s already his Flare yet when Kanjigar gives it to him later this sixed eyed freak holds it like it’s the most precious thing in the world and looks at it so longingly you’d think he wants to marry it.

quick derail to have you look at how he reaches for Kanjigar and his receding touch on two occasions with only a minute or two inbetween scenes, it’s relevant.

the last scene above, I want you to see just how- pathetic and sad- for lack of a better word, Blinky looks at Kanjigar turning away/The Flare he was given before Toby tries to reassure him with saying atleast Kanjigar will be accompanying them into the Darklands and how a smile spreads on Blinkys face before Kanjigar butts in saying “sorry nah I can’t 🚬”

Can you see how much this man craves Kanjigars presence back? like he misses him so much and clings to whatever he can that’s left of him or was gifted to him by Kanjigar like The Flare.

It doesn’t matter that he likely originally got The Flare himself, it’s the fact Kanjigar gave it to him, entrusted him with it and how this is likely one of the last times he’ll be able to interact with Kanjigar now that he’s dead and it’s under the circumstances where they can’t properly talk or get closer because they’re on such a time crunch to save Jim.

It’s like there’s always something stopping them from maybe finally getting their feelings out there.

for closing commentary I’ll say that I guess the reason i find this ship (and their dynamic in general) so fascinating to think about is the major miscommunication problem or moreso the lack of it in general, the fact that as long as Kanjigar is Trollhunter the chances of them working out or even happening in the first place is so low if not impossible since Kanjigar ultimately HAS to die or we don’t get the story we get, even if we’re doing something Post-ROTT. they’re always deemed to fail in one way or another, and I personally find that so fun narratively and I think that’s one of the main reasons I'm drawn to this ship alongside everything I’ve listed above and more.

and even if you were already old enough to not cry over sheets, it made you cry. just a little. just when it was quiet and dark and your thoughts were too loud. and junho, if he heard your sniffles from the other side of the door, he’d knock, then come in and hold you. not saying “you’re okay” because you weren’t. he would just hold you. like that was enough. the next morning, you found a glass of water waiting for you on the kitchen counter. a small note tucked beside it—not in junho’s neat handwriting, but hers.

“stay hydrated. it’s good for headaches.” even before everything. before the accident. before you were left alone. she left you little notes. because she cared, quietly. “leftovers for you. warm them up when you get home.”

“had too much dessert. take some with you.”

your blanket was always tucked on the couch. your favorite mug in their cabinet. sometimes a new toothbrush waiting in the bathroom. and when she found out you and junho were together, she didn’t seem surprised. because that night—the first time junho saw you again—he called her on the way home.

“yeah. she’s back. just saw her.” he didn’t need to say who she was. because junho only used that soft voice for one person. he never told anyone about the times he saw you from across the street, but didn’t walk in. he didn’t know how you’d feel. but maybe she knew.

because when you left for england, he cried. not in front of you. not on the drive back. but later, alone in his room. maybe she heard the sobs through the door. but she didn’t say “love hurts.” she didn’t say “she’ll come back.” she brought him water. kissed his forehead. “cry as long as you need to, okay? i’ve got you, my boy.” junho cried every night for two whole weeks. not loud. not messy. just slow, soft tears that didn’t stop.

and last week, when you visited again—she made your favorite meal. set the table. hugged you like she hadn’t in years. brushed a hair from your face. smiled so big it almost made you cry. when junho said,

“eomma, we’re together.” she hugged you again. because she knew. she’d known from the way junho looked at you when he was sixteen. from the time he said, “nah, she doesn’t like that color,” while picking out your sheets.

she knew from that call two months ago. “she’s just—” and how he never finished the sentence. how the words never came because nothing was big enough to hold what he felt.

and before you left that day—before junho drove you home, before you unlocked your apartment door—she looked at her son and said, “you better be good to her, huh? she’s had enough. now she needs quiet. the good kind.”

and junho just nodded, that small, quiet smile tugging at his lips. and that night, on your couch, junho’s head in your lap, your fingers brushing through his hair—he showed you a text. from his mom.

“tell her i’ve got some leftovers. she can come pick them up after work.”

and you just knew—she was what you never had. the warmth of a mother.

Hero x Cheated general headcanons

Chronic People-pleaser x professional hater, I see the appeal

I headcanon that in a post-construct au, Hero would end up in a leader role, and while he'd like helping his flock, it would probably burn him out quickly, and he'd end up neglecting himself

Cheated sees this and goes "dude stop letting everyone walk over you" and makes him take a nap

Hero seeing Cheated's anger going out of control and helping him calm down, letting Cheated rant to him about what's bothering him

Cheated and Hero playing some kind of competitive game and Cheated keeps losing and usually he'd already have flipped the table in rage but the way Hero looks every time he wins makes him feel butterflies in his stomach and he can't even be mad (then Cheated finally wins and he's super happy and then he sees Hero being way more exited than all the times he's won and it makes his chest all warm and fluffy)

Cheated tries to help Hero have more of a spine (Hero might not be as spineless as someone like Broken, but I feel like it would still help him to learn to hold some healthy grudges)

For activities they'd do together, I think they'd prefer more mellow stuff, like binging some tv show (if they have a tv), cuddling in one of their beds/nests, or maybe just going on walks together, watching the birds fly, on that note.....

"Hey, are you free?"

Hero blinked in surprise, he'd just finished helping Hunted and Skeptic patch up Contrarian after falling off of the roof (he doesn't know how he got up there in the first place, but he's learnt better than to question Contra's ways), only to come face to face with Cheated the second he left Hunted's room.

"Oh, yeah, what's up?"

"Want to go to a walk? I found a pretty neat place yesterday, and you could use a break- and don't you fucking say you don't."

Hero looked away in embarrassment at that, he knows damn well Cheated doesn't like it when he doesn't take care of himself, so he's trying to work on it, and a walk with him does sound nice right now

"Sure, where are we going?" he says noticing that Cheated is wearing a backpack, which probably means that they'll be gone for a while

"I remember back at the construct you said you wanted to look at birds, and I found a clearing in the forest where you can see a bunch of them very easily"

"Wh- you remembered that??" He felt his cheeks flush, honestly he himself had forgotten about that comment he'd made, too preoccupied with settling in in their new home, and helping the others with their issues while also dealing with his own issues, and- okay he's starting to see why Cheated always insists he takes breaks, "I mean- it was just a silly thought- you didn't have to take it so seriously"

Cheated sighed in annoyance, "you wanna go birdwatching, right?"

...He did, a lot, "yes"

"Then we're going, the others won't get themselves killed if you're not looking at them for a few hours"

"I'm not so sure about that." But nevertheless he followed him outside

...

Cheated was right, the clearing truly was beautiful, and he could already see a few birds flying around while they got settled down, Hero looked up to the sky as he sat down next to his- was boyfriend the right word? He couldn't really say, they hadn't talked about it, but they spent more time together than most of the others on the flock, these walks they went to could be considered dates and he really, really liked Cheated, but did he like him in that way? And more importantly, did Cheated feel the same?

A hand was waved on his face, "Hey, Earth to Hero, you with me?"

"Ah! Yes, sorry, I got stuck in my head for a bit there, what were you saying?"

Cheated passed him his backpack, now open, letting him see what Cheated had packed in, there were binoculars, a notebook, a book about bird species, and some snacks and drinks inside.

"Woah, you really came prepared, huh?" he opened the bird book and looking through its pages.

Cheated opened up a chocolate bar and took a bite off it, "well duh! We're going birdwatching aren't we?"

The way Cheated smiled at him was way better than any birds they could find

I mean I can imagine it potentially making him too overpowered, like if he has a plane alt he can be a fighting beast in both the land and sky, but I mean maybe if you play it a certain way, you could make it work without that issue. Not sure exactly what that means, but basically I don’t think it’s impossible to pull off without it being too OP

As a dedicated Chimney/Tommy truther, I think an extremely funny fic would be one where Buck breaks up with Tommy for *handwaves reason* and Tommy is heartbroken, so Chimney’s ploy this time around is to tell Buck that Tommy is his hall pass and Maddie’s totally fine with it (Maddie, chiming in: “If Tommy liked women, he would be my hall pass too and we could have a threesome!”) and so Chimney is going to take advantage of Tommy being single again to cash that in and, since Tommy had a little crush on him once upon a time (known to all parties involved), he’s pretty sure Tommy will be down.

I want to know how they dealt with the initial stress, how they went about recreating the backdrop, the dioramas, choosing what to wear on stage etc. I love getting insight into how they work together and I just think it would be so interesting to know how they handled this

So I was thinking about kim (nothing new there), but fledgling Kim trying to leave the compound, and his father gives him an option. He’s allowed to move out, his father has a place that’s near his school and his studio, that has staff who will see to all his needs.

The catch - it’s an elderly assisted living home. His father offers it basically dangling a carrot on a stick and assumes Kim won’t take the bait and continue living at home. But Kim is like fuck it, anything to get outta here. It’s not like I’ll have to interact with anyone else in the building.

What he doesn’t expect is that the other residents of his building are old people who focused on their careers instead of family and so have no visitors, or old people who’s children are focused on their careers instead of family and so also have no visitors. There are like 200 wannabe-grandparents in the building with no one to spoil and fuss over.

And Kim is finally living on his own and loving it, and he’s pretty good at dodging his elderly neighbors, but there’s a grand piano in the lobby that one of the residents plays everyday. One day Kim is walking through the lobby to get to his special penthouse elevator when he hears a Sinatra cover and gets distracted listening. That’s when the first grandpa pounces and when he’s done playing the song he chats very casually with Kim about music and asks Kim if he has a request. He can play any song Kim can think of made before the 80s by memory.

Kim mentions a song his mother used to play for him, and offhandedly mentions she’s dead, and that’s what really opens the floodgates. Piano-grandpa goes to all his other friends and rallies them, and from then on Kim knows no peace. One grandma keeps making him cookies (he suspects they’re poisoned, why else would she insist) while another grandpa leaves him healthy home cooked meals at his door. One day he leaves the apartment only to be assaulted by a tiny tiny woman with a measuring tape, then two weeks later she returns again with the softest home knit sweater.

He thinks this is all pretty weird and rather annoying and probably they’re on his father’s payroll to be nice to him… but also he’s sixteen and no one has really fussed over him since he was little and his mom was around.

So when he discovers the grandma who always checks if he has an umbrella when it’s raining is getting extorted by her niece, he takes care of it quietly. And when train-facts grandpa and strawberry-jam grandma both complain about the new nurse being too rough, he takes care of it loudly.

So by the time he’s 22 and could actually move out to his own place, he doesn’t want to because he has 200 grandparents taking care of him where he currently lives.

When he brings Chay around all the grandparents adore him. Chay finds Kim’s living situation delightfully odd, but everything about Kim is delightfully odd so it makes more sense than it doesn’t. It’s photography grandpa who slips Chay the instant camera and tells them to have fun.

And when Chay stops coming around half of the old folks shower him in extra love because he’a obviously heartbroken and half of them want to whip his ass for being an idiot and coach him how to win Chay back.

Anyway, just thinking about Kim with mettlesome and well meaning grandparents

I do kind of hope a series gives us a Megatron and Optimus with a “strangers to respected enemies/rivals to potentially more (at least in the fanfics)” sort of dynamic

Because I feel like that doesn’t really happen, at least not to my knowledge. I feel like if Megatron has a respect for Optimus, it’s usually due to their long, shared history, not something that develops over the course of the series

And I know some people say that’s what happens in TFA, but no, it really doesn’t. The two never reach the “respect” part, with Optimus hating Megatron for being an evil villain, and Megatron seeing him as a nuisance at best and never bothering to learn his name, only calling him it once like 2 minutes after being told it earlier in the fight, which I think in context doesn’t really count for much

I just feel like it’d be neat to properly explore, especially since I’m realizing we seem to have it fairly consistently be that they were “old friends” for a while now, let’s shake it up a little
