You had a reputation for being, what the VK's would call, a goody two shoes. A person that always follows the rules, never rebels against anyone or anything, is always good, always kind. Even if someone was so incredibly rude to you, you would still have a smile planted onto your face and a thought filled with kindness in your head.

All in all, your personality perfectly matched the one that Bridget from Wonderland had. That is one of the many reasons the two of you were practically inseparable.

No matter what, you always saw good in everyone and everything. Some people loved you for it. Some people found themselves despising you for that personality trait that you possessed.

You usually kept to yourself when you were not hanging out with Bridget or Ella, just trying to stay out of anyone's way.

Bridget always gave her best to make as many friends as possible, simply always going out of her way to make sure she made friends. You were not like that really.

You had Bridget and Ella. You had two friends. That was enough for you. It's not like you didn't want to give people a chance to be your friends. No way! You simply preferred it like that.

And even though you always stayed out of other people's ways, somehow one VK kept running into you.

The one with the smirk that seemed like it never left his face.

The one with the hook on his right hand.

The one who was a part of Uliana's crew.

Captain James Hook.

No matter how hard you tried to avoid each other, you just simply kept running into each other no matter what.

Whether you were just rushing to get to class in time or you were taking a walk or just reading or doing schoolwork on the courtyard, Hook was always there. However, it's not like he wanted to run into you all the time.

He infact hated it.

Constantly running into you. You with your bubbly personality and your kindness and your generosity and your willingness to help others even when they are mean to you and your perfect face and your gorgeous smile and your amazing hair and... and the panic he felt every time the two of you ran into each other.

The panic that appeared every time he realized over and over again just how amazing you truly are. Not that he would admit that to anyone.

Until Morgie noticed.

That's exactly how he ended up leaning against the tree in the courtyard of the Merlin's Academy as Morgie was siting down on the ground not too far away from him, listening as Hook was spilling nonsense at him.

"I just can't do it anymore," Hook groaned as Morgie rolled his eyes once again after God knows how many times. "I constantly run into her, it's crazy."

"Mhm..."

"She's just so annoying."

"Sure."

"I mean," Hook scoffed, basically ignoring Morgie who now had his head resting on his arms, sitting with his legs crossed in the grass. "Who can possibly be so happy all the time?"

"She can."

"It's so infuriating!" Hook groaned, throwing his head back, waving his hook around to emphasize his point. "That stupid, goody goody."

"Just admit that you like her already." Morgie rolled his eyes and Hook got silent all of a sudden.

"I don't-I-," he found himself stuttering and Morgie started to smirk as he saw his friend slowly starting to blush. "I don't like anyone! Especially not someone like her!"

"Mhm," Morgie hummed, unconvinced. "Sure you don't. You just notice every single thing about her and you've been 'complaining' about her kindness and generosity and perfection for almost half and hour. Just admit it to yourself."

"I don't like-"

"Please," Morgie said, once again, no surprise there, rolling his eyes as he looked at Hook. "I'm pretty sure Uliana noticed it, too."

"I-"

"Maleficent did for sure," he chuckled. "She's been looking at you a bit weirdly since few days ago when you started blushing when your little crush touched you accidentally while trying to escape Uliana and save Bridget like usual."

"I DID NOT BLUSH-!" Hook looked mortified and Morgie found himself laughing.

"Oh, please," he said, "Don't be so surprised, of course I noticed it."

Hook looked out into the distance and could have sworn that he saw that familiar hair color at the other side of the school. Morgie looked at him and sighed as he stood up, placing his hand on Hook's shoulder.

"Look, ask her out before someone else does because I've heard that Snow White's son has a thing for her, too." Morgie said and Hook's gaze snapped to Morgie's.

"I just thought that you should know." Morgie said in sing-song voice before he walked away with his arms behind his back, smirking, so pleased with himself.

As his gaze left Morgie's he realized, oh, he's not gonna have that.

When I was a child in 2013, visiting Nickelodeon's site and finding a treasure-trove of Spongebob, Winx and TMNT flash games was like magic to me. BUT MAN. The TMNT flash games are one of the best ever to me I've played in my life. (on an aesthetic stand-point! Turtle Tactics and Dark Horizons are so awesome man, legendary flash games to me.)

2 years ago, I used flashpoint to replay it for the first time in years and I remember crying of glee LOL (I still play Dark Horizons and turtle tactis to this day btw). Those 2 flash games are just so...Technically advanced?? For its time?? LIKE A FULLY FLEDGED 3D FLASH GAME WITH UNITY ENGINE BASIS? DAMN. And then Dark Horizons? CHEF'S KISS I LOVE THAT GAME SO MUCH. AESTHETICALLY AND THE COMBAT FEELS RLLY NICE TO ME IMO, AND JUST...Everything about THAT flash game, god TIMELESS CLASSIC I COULD YAP ON FOR HOURS ABOUT THIS NO JOKE.

I am enthralled by the designs and art of Dark Horizons, it's why I made this drawing. The game just..Speaks to me on so many levels. IT'S JUST SO PLEASING TO SEE ALL THE ARTWORK I EXTRACTED. As far to my knowledge- it never got released, so I might make a post of just a few favourites I liked from the game. :D

I just wonder if I can post those in the first place, it's after all, not my artwork, from a flash game, and TMNT, so yeah, legal IP and stuff. I studied the in-game sprites for a good few hours back then, and did my best to replicate it to the best of my abilities!! I think Mushu maybe could've been done better looking back at it, but I think it was the best that I could do back then. :D Plus, I remember being really happy, excited and proud of this piece, as it reflected something, my childhood self always wanted: For Alex to like.."fake" being an official character LOL. love the canonical implication that Earthspark Bumblebee's current alt-mode is possibly just a mid life crisis sports car phase

I mean I'm in my 30s, I'm not shitting on him, it's relatable primarily because most of my friends are at least slightly younger than I am

the "Bee hanging out with the Terrans" vibe is very real

but I also like that we're seeing a slightly older version of Bee here. usually he's the youngest of the Autobots (in most TF shows, anyway), but here he's roughly equivalent to middle aged

The Terrans are the youngest, so we get to see a more mature Bee stepping up into a carer/educator role

Bee has never really been one of my favourite TF characters (which I mostly attribute to burn out caused by all the marketing which solely fixates on him lmao), but I like him in Earthspark for the most part!

He's still a little on the "still learning" side of things coming into his current role, but that's what allows for further character development, and we've already seen him build some good skills for dealing with/training the kiddo bots

IDK it's nice.

would be interesting if there's ever an episode where Alex and Dot are unavailable for a not-necessarily-bad reason (maybe one of them is accepting a professional award or something so both of them go together as a Nice Thing)

and suddenly Bumblebee is Parent of Many Sparklings (Plus Two Human Ones) for the weekend LMAO

how long until he gives in and calls someone for help? because that is a LOT of children

eventually he calls everyone but they're all busy, Arcee just laughs at him lol she's having Fun Battle Time with Elita-1 so neither of them can do it, finally Megatron shows up and instantly all the kids are like "yeah STORY TIME" and Bee gets a 10 min nap in until a perimeter alarm goes off or something (it was just a cow but now he is Stressed)

Optimus gradually shows up like ha ha! outdoors enrichment for the children is a great idea and Bee is just like "have you ever actually raised sparklings, you had troops but you don't have SPARKLINGS"

meanwhile in the background Hashtag is trying to explain the differences between various social media sites to Megatron, who is trying so hard to pretend like he cares, but is also busy trying to keep at least two of the others from putting their hands a little too deep in his transformation seams so they can climb on him (they just want to be Large)

idk I think a Single Parent Bee episode feat. Grandpa Megatron towards the end at one point would be fun, arguably they did this kind of vibe in the first half of S1 a bit already

but it would be interesting to see how Bumblebee would manage without any other adults for support for like a weekend in its entirety (save for maybe Megs at the end taking pity on him lmao)

there aren't many bots in what seems to be Bumblebee's general age range, except maybe Arcee but she gives the vibe of being a little older than he is, so real talk he'd probably feel a little more isolated and overtaxed than usual :(

but the kiddos would likely pick up on this and they could plot with Megs to try to do something nice for him!!! it would go poorly but that's OK!!!!

do you ever think about the parallels between damon and graham and paul and john? the childhood best friends and inseparable creative partners, one is the pusher for the dream, and the other one is the arty emotional live wire, the jealousy, competitiveness, emotional breakdown, and dissatisfaction/unhappiness with their dynamic. eventually, one gets a new creative partner, and the wedge becomes a chasm. yet only one of them got the opportunity to fully reconcile while the other was robbed of it.

of course, they're not the same, and the level of success does make for a lot of that separation. but I see how much time and effort it took for damon and graham to rebuild their relationship, knowing it couldn't go to what it once was but still working to repair it. glad they did, especially when you hear paul say that one should never put off telling someone you love them.

yeeeesss this has been a point of great interest for myself and certain other rpf scholars on this site (hi @elena-ferrante). watching paul in get back really reminded me of damon lol...i think it's interesting that part of the tension between d&g and j&p is that the domineering control freak "spokesman" member of the pair comes across as the one calling the shots but is in fact so full of admiration for and places such a high value on the opinion of the other that he becomes sort of deferential to him... i think they all struggle(d) with their identities and public images being intertwined. but i also think that there is/was more love between them than we could possibly understand from the outside. i really sincerely think that john and paul would have reconciled if they'd been given enough time.

speaking more broadly to your point about the wedge & the chasm: i think another thing about why bands are so interesting and why they capture the public imagination is that they frequently present this homosocial fantasy of companionship that is very much rooted in an adolescent configuration of life , i.e. hanging out with your friends all the time, doing whatever you want, responsible for only yourselves, obligated to each other out of a shared passion. and that lifestyle is not compatible with The Institution of Adulthood, i.e. stable career, marriage and family-rearing, which still feels compulsory—if not totally inescapable—for most people in [heterosexual] society. a band can be a world unto itself but it is not the real world. there are soooooooooo many examples of bands falling apart once a member gets married and/or commits to a new creative partner because that development inevitably ruins the fantasy on which the band was built, consciously or subconsciously. the real world comes careening back into focus...and you can't ever get that old life back once you've deviated from it.

i think the assumption within heterosexual society that homosociality is something that one "ages out of" is very pervasive (and homophobic, natch, but we don't have to get into that now). that homosocial relationships—or even friendships more generally—are always ultimately secondary to romantic relationships (specifically marriage) is something that i think a lot of people struggle with as they move further into adulthood (i know i am lol). it just happened on a much more drastic scale for these guys because of their fame.

Are there any moments that you feel are criminally underrated in ASM? Like they just don’t get enough love.

I'll be honest, but I sometimes feel like I'm one of 5 people on this site that are ASM fans so I'm not sure how underrated these moments are but here we go!

I can't stop thinking about this 1st timeline interaction between Shuri and Count Solingen before her first councilmen's meeting. He's another one-off suspicious character and I need to know more about him! He invites Shuri to dinner but we never actually get to see whether it happened.

I love this mid-timeskip panel where Nora and the Neuschwansteins go clothes shopping. It's so domestic and cute. Jeremy being such a teen boy while Nora's just so happy to be hanging out with Shuri. And the twins just looking like >:3 and :3

There's so many of these mundane Shuri and Rachel bonding moments that slip by if you're not careful enough.

We all love to talk about scenes where Nora is brooding but this specific one seems less talked about. Especially when he's so disappointed in his "lacking" ability to help Shuri and protect her smile. He just looks so diabolical in this sequence. Like he's sitting so ominously in the dark as he watches the puppets burn in his fire. he's so hot help

This hilarious moment when Nora and Jeremy basically disqualified themselves from the hunting competition when they left early to infiltrate the gambling house. The knights (minus Everette) were so disappointed they're so dumb lol

Ok. I know we all hate Johannes here but forget him for a second. Isn't it so cute how Shuri always gets excited when she hears people talking about their travels? She did this earlier with Halima as well. It's times like these that remind me that she's just a small town girl living in the big city. I want her to go on a romantic overseas honeymoon with Nora by the end of this series, she deserves it.

um. I just think that Nasir (Ali's escort) is an underrated hottie in the series. We don't get to see much of him, but I savor the small moments we get of him on screen. (Halima's escort is also hunky)

I think I need to make a longer post about Rufus, Shuri's legal aide. He appears more than once or twice and we don't know much about him as a person. He seems to have more pull than he lets off, considering he's technically a consultant for nobles, royals, and the church.

I love when the mc is just a regular person lol. Like they're just out doing groceries and the strongest hero in their city fighting some bad guy shows up, madness ensues, bad guy grabs them and suddenly the hero falls in love at first sight. Then after mc gets rescued all the villains are now after them because hero has a weakness now and it's them, while mc is just please don't destroy my apartment again. It's funny to me when a normal person that just wants to live their life gets dragged into nonsense they can't escape lol

I wasn't sure if by new IF, the anon meant TSR or the janitor (cuz I doubt I'll be writing the janitor one given how I'm already writing Silverking, TSR and also did a liiiiittle writing for the dragon-parent one [One Small Scale]) but I'mma entertain this idea a little bit with my brain going overdrive ( •_•)>⌐■-■ | (⌐■_■)

Imagine a tired asf MC, working for a janitorial company that cleans up the battles between the hero and villains (especially the #1 Hero and their team + one of the most nefarious villain and their crew). MC, unknowingly, helped the villain when they're in civilian mode by assisting them to get rid of a stain on their coat (I can picture the MC has a cleaning compulsion that they try to reign in to avoid annoying people into confrontation) and the villain is a little touched at MC helping them out.

Then one day, MC was cleaning the latest battle site between a different hero and bad guy when the same bad guy, who escaped from the attempted arrest, grabbed MC and held them at knifepoint or something similar. This, of course, does not sit well with the villain and he ends up leaving an injury on the bad guy and pulling MC to them...in their villain form. Then the hero comes to the site and not only do they end up intrigued by seeing MC being exasperated despite being in a life-or-death situation, but they're also shocked the villain saved MC from a bad guy. Nevertheless, as a hero, they have to save the hostage and stop the villain!

Just when the two were about to fight, MC, annoyed at how they just cleaned up the mess in the area, ends up blurting out "Can both of you fight on a different day? I have clean up to still do."

This leaves the villain and hero stumped, staring at MC and wondering why is a civilian not panicking or trying to get out of range. Annoyed at it all, MC just goes "Look, I get you two to have a grudge, vendetta or some mysterious back-to-back feud with each other, but gods above, take a damn break once in a while!"

"You...do realize you're in a life-or-death situation, right?"

"And? I'm going to be in a dead situation if I don't do my job and clean up the messes you two, and so many others, left behind. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to scrub off the slime and charred bits splattered on that wall over there."

Thankfully, the hero and villain didn't start a fight, just staring blankly at MC. Then MC probably got reamed out for stopping the villain and hero from fighting and preventing the company from getting another potential cleaning job for the number #1 hero and MC just comes home, exhausted from it all...when a knock comes to the door.

MC opens it up and finds the hero's civilian form/actual appearance and the hero, enamoured by MC's traits (bravery against dangers? Hard work? Casualness with all these hero/villain stuff?) and immediately ask MC if they would be interested in hanging out...then villain's civilian form came to MC's apartment and 'conveniently' found out MC lives here...which MC just ends up realizing who they really are and now MC has both the villain and hero be completely oblivious of each other while at the same time yeeting oil into MC's life to set it on fire.

And all MC is thinking "No shoes in the house!"

i'm curious how does one actually get into f1, particularly the fandom side of it. it all seems so interesting but i don't know how to take the plunge, is there a good beginner's guide re: rules/basic team lore or anything you'd recommend outside of race watching?

hi anon! for learning the rules, i think one of the easiest ways is to look up technical stuff and learn the sporting terms when watching the races. it sounds daunting but i only properly got into the sport by doing this (alongside my sibling who got invested first lol) and being tuned into a community to keep up through season happenings, which then kind of folded into the fandom experience. f1blr is where i hang out for fandom, but it's definitely not what makes the entire experience!

i think the best place to start would be to look at any team or drivers that you're intrigued about and start diving deeper from there. you'll find that a lot of the lore inter-connects through the years and by learning about one thing, you can pick up more about another driver/team/event etc. to help follow the sport i recommend:

the f1 official website and f1tv: everything from news, article writeups, interviews and race content is on their site, and you can keep up with the live race sessions through f1tv and even watch older races on the f1tv archive, though it is a paid subscription. the f1 website even has a glossary to refer to sporting terms and if you're interested in more, f1tv has analysis videos where they review key moments after the race sessions. if you're reluctant to pay for anything, there are sites that stream the live races for free lol and even more free and accessible media too below.

youtube channels: for actual motorsport lore and history, the only channel i recommend is CYMotorsport, who does highly digestible deep dive videos that run through past seasons, championships, rivalries, scandals etc in a way that isn't oversensationalized. this channel was literally my friend lol, i have spent many hours just watching their stuff and they even have a new to f1? playlist you can start with! chainbear was what i used to check out back then to get to know more about the technical stuff, useful for beginners!

news/communities: i usually check my news on the r/formula1 subreddit. like any other highly active sports community across platforms it's rife with discourse if you want to keep a pulse on all that. it's much easier to get my news from there in an efficient way (tumblr can be impossible for me to do this quickly) since the source under a reddit topic is usually linked in the post or in comments so you can see for yourself if something is coming from a credible and non-contentious source or not. because integrity in f1 journalism has always been terrible, just take most things with a grain of salt. the main publications like motorsport.com and autosport are okay. i also check twitter to see what journalists are saying although there's a lot of drivel and questionable he-said-she-said stuff that tends to get spread lol so honestly i really only check Chris Medland's tweets... the one guy i trust. i also subscribe to r/F1Technical, much less discourse since it's very sport and technical-focused for people who want genuine answers about anything asked.

documentaries: nflix's dts is fine for learning names and faces on a pretty surface level, and it was my introduction to the sport as a New Fan but not a necessary watch since it's more sensationalized. instead, you can watch documentaries centered around a driver; i watched one (1) season of fernando alonso's docu series for fun lol and schumacher's docu film. my little sibling and i like history a lot so we watched a life of speed: the juan manuel fangio story, an interesting watch about old motorsport - i haven't checked out other driver-focused docus besides these but you can pick up anything that interests you! but if i have to recommend one docu miniseries, it's "brawn: the impossible formula 1 story." don't be fooled and put off by keanu reeves being narrator skfskf the miniseries is an excellent mix imo of technical stuff explained coupled with really good storytelling featuring some of the most well-known names in the sport behind the teams.

i think once you start building grounds over time to get a basic grasp of how the sport works, everything else that comes with entering a fandom like meeting people will follow after pretty naturally :) it took me a while to do this and garner slow investment in a fave guy/team. i hope this is helpful, anon! i'd be happy to chat and answer more questions if you have them!

First of all, I thought I had some profound questions inside of me like, "Are you Dan Fingerman?" Then I realized what a stupid fucking question that really is. Second, I can't believe you revealed yourself! I know it's probably weird to hear this, but what a fucking gift! Nobody does that!

I originally wanted to know who you were because I felt like you truly belonged amongst a bunch of us BoC fans who were starting to feel like we were on the periphery of the actual fanbase, which had, in my opinion, become very discouraging and very cynical toward BoC, and music in general. Call it snobbery or call it entitlement, but it didn't feel good.

Then came your music...

Do you have any idea how amazing it is? I hope you do, and I hope you see that you've built a fan base of your own.

On a personal level, your music ended up becoming a nonstop soundtrack to life for me. There was an intro song, Tilt-A-Whirl, that truly fucking blew my mind. I played that thing so much that I convinced myself that I knew the song from my youth. So many other songs had creative elements that made me think, "This person gets it. We need to hang out!"

I don't want to ramble too long and take away from what you've got going but I do want to let you know that there is no reason to apologize to anyone, no reason to feel bad, and for the anxiety caused by BoC fans, I truly apologize. The core group of Random Stranger fans celebrate your work. Keep it up if you can!

Ok I am so sorry for bringing this up again, obviously you can choose not to post and not answer, but some of your recent asks lead to me discovering the whole Paige drama, I wasn't in the fandom back then and had never really bothered with this mess but I got curious and now I am so confused... Because at first glance it doesn't appear like a stunt and I gather many people assumed back then it was not an "official" one but rather something Harry chose for whatever reason to get involved in himself but then that just doesn't make much sense to me either? Too much trouble to get associated with this particular group of people and all the damage control only for him to keep associating himself with her for quite some time afterwards. My impression of the situation was always that however they met, Paige saw this as an opportunity for her to advance herself. It never struck me as Harry actually being interested in her romantically.

She wanted to be a model/actress/be famous in some capacity and Harry at the time was much more open and naive and genuine. He probably liked her enough to hang out and spend time with her/her friends and feel like a normal guy with a group of friends. I don’t think there ever was any kind of romantic attachment on his end, nor do I think she ever actually liked him and wanted to date him in a genuine way. She used him.

I’m sure he was incredibly hurtful for him to see how fake they all were and perhaps it changed the way he dealt with new “friends” going forward. And yeah, I’m hurt for him because he was still a kid and they were just a bunch of super gross people. I’m just glad he found out before it went on any longer.

*cracks knuckles* sorry for keeping you hanging since November 3rd, homie, but I'm back home and down to get started!

Before I do, a special reminder that I'm not based in Iowa! I don't think I've ever even set foot in Iowa. I'm a Florida girlie lol. However, I will do my best to give you my advice and find some resources for you!

In my experience, many native plants grow slowly from seed. This could be because I mostly prefer perennials (I am way too lazy to replace an annual every year), but they can take awhile to germinate and an even longer while to size up. I've gotten seeds that say to wait upwards of 3 weeks to see any germination, and that's often after waiting a month or more for proper cold stratification! All of this is just to say--you gotta have a bit of patience when it comes to all gardening, but especially with native plants!

If you can get your hands on some seeds now, they'll likely need cold stratification. Fortunately, cold stratification is happening right now--put the seeds where you want them to grow, and let chilly winters do the work for you! Needing cold stratification basically means the plant has evolved to know it needs to wait until after winter to start germinating, so as things warm back up in spring, your seeds'll start growing!

Once they start growing and get established, they'll really start going--if they're in their perfect conditions, they'll be more than ready to take over a bit and manage on their own! Keep an eye out for watering needs, but generally I find native plants don't need much when it comes to fertilizer and pesticides. If you don't want things to spread a lot, you can always choose to grow certain plants in pots instead--or if you're really determined to grow a plant your soil isn't quite right for, a pot does wonders. My soil isn't very moist, so I grow a good chunk of my swamp milkweeds in pots to keep a better eye on their care.

Iowa's got a handful of growing zones going on, so knowing what the zone for your region is will help you pick the best plants! You can also pick plants known to have grown historically well in your region--I've seen plant range maps break things down by counties for my state, which helps give a good idea of whether it's a good idea for me to grow something touted as a native to my state. It's entirely possible for something to be native to your state, but not your half of the state, for example!

Browsing through a couple of sites, I hope these'll be helpful to you!

This is a link to Iowa Native Plants, which has a nice primer on the importance of native gardening as well as a few guides to native plants in their Finder tab! They also seem to sell a hanfdul of books on native gardening that may be an interesting read for you!

My Home Park appears to have a lot of information on native plants, and sells native plants that can be shipped to your state! I can't say I've ever had a plant shipped to me before, let alone from them (they don't service my state) but it could be worth a shot! If anything else, could be a good source of information! They also have a blog, and a feature that lets you mock up a garden to see what it'd look like (I didn't try it though). They also seem to service North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine.

The Tallgrass Prairie Center links to a ton of resources on learning about native plants, planting them, landowner incentive programs, and organizations you can join that are full of others who are passionate about native plants! The Tallgrass Prairie Center itself aims to establish and protect native plants, restore ecosystems, and increase awareness and appreciation of the Tallgrass Prairie Ecosystem. I think their site's definitely worth a look-through, or you can use it as a bouncing off point to find other sites full of info!

The Iowa Native Plant Society is a nonprofit organization full of people who are enthusiastic about native plants! They host field trips, workshops, have a newsletter, and more! It could be a fun way to learn more about native ecosystems on their trips, and if they're anything like the native plant society for my state, the calendar on their site will probably start lighting up with different chapters' native plant sales as we get closer to spring, so keep an eye out! They've also got books and lots of resource links on their site!

Oftentimes when I look up information on how to grow a particular plant in my state, the university extensions office is one of the best resources. As such, I think the Iowa State University's Extension and Outreach website is likely to have some good info for you about gardening! I've also in the past emailed some staff from various offices questions about native gardening and gotten good answers, so they're definitely a resource to be utilized!

I almost forgot to link the Xerces Society! The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation has a primary focus of protecting insects in the US, but that often goes hand in hand with native plants, so they're a great resource for learning about plants and the insects that rely on them! Especially helpful is their Pollinator Conservation Resource Center, which has lists of plants and suppliers by region! You can also find just their plant lists here!

Speaking of plant lists, The National Wildlife Federation has a list of keystone plants by ecoregion! Keystone plants are highly important, as they're vital to the lifecycle of many species of insect, which then help feed birds and other creatures--you get the picture. I used the National Wildife Federation a good bit when I was writing my Biodiversity Saga on increasing biodiversity in your yard/on your balcony/in your area on a budget.

iNaturalist is a fantastic website for cataloguing the cool insects you find in your new native garden, as well as learning about the variety of plants, animals, insects, etc. that are in your area! Make an account and just vibe around!

Books can be a great resource! Unfortunately, my attention span is frequently lacking when it comes to books, and I definitely haven't read any that focus on Iowa's native flora. However! I've got a few general books that are nice reads, so you can definitely see if you can find these in a library or online (I'm including Thriftbooks links because fuck Amazon).

Hellstrip Gardening by Evelyn J. Hadden is a book I read last month that honestly inspired so many new projects out of me that next year is gonna be busy. Might as well get a healthy dose of inspiration now so you can do some planning and be roaring and ready to go come spring! I liveblogged it on my gardening blog, and shared some of my favorite notes as well!

Attracting Native Pollinators by the Xerces Society is a book that offers a generalized view on why its important, ways you can utilize native plants at any scale from swaths of farmland to a school garden or a small yard, and provides lists of plants that can be good for your region near the end! They also have Gardening for Butterflies, which I honestly haven't read yet, but I checked it out from the library so Mayhaps Soon. PS: you can buy Attracting Native Pollinators and Gardening for Butterflies from the Xerces site directly, and support their work! However. Hoo buddy, the pricing.

My final message to you, young padawan, is to grow milkweed. If there's a milkweed native to your state, grow it. If there's several native to your region, grow a ton of it. Milkweed is the host plant for Monarchs, but it's also such a high-value nectar source for so many other insects you've just gotta try and grow some in my book. Also a lot of the sites I saw for your state had pictures of blazing star and black eyed susans and let me tell you. Plant those. You'll have so many happy pollinators.

what I make is WILDLY inconsistent from month to month, which is inconvenient, so it needs to be planned around. I could make $600 or $8k depending on the customers, my health, whether or not I made any content for passive sales recently... my average when you take into account my best customer is about $200/hr, but if I were to just talk to a rando on the phone instead of fucking around with my whale, my rate has me earning about $120/hr. that doesn't include anything extra, like tributes (tips, basically), content buys, or things like that.

that also doesn't mean I WILL make that much just by being signed on. I could wait for hours for a 2-minute call, or I could talk for 3 hours to the same guy and rake in bank. it all depends.

for me, with the niches I've picked, it comes pretty naturally. I've always been a very sexual person, so this career progression wasn't too difficult for me! the hardest part is making sure at the start to learn all the common scams so you can stop yourself from falling for them.

and BOUNDARIES! especially for people who have been socialized not to "rock the boat," it can be difficult to enforce them at first. but you need to be able to do that in this business! even if you market as submissive, stand firm!

but as far as the actual work goes... some guys are more difficult than others because their kinks aren't as familiar to me, or they're really picky, or I need to be tuned the fuck in the entire time... usually though, it's a lot of being mean, laughing at their tiny dicks, and taunting them with my body, which is easy peasy by now!

ok, I guess I lied a bit... when you're independent, there's also the matter of things like marketing, graphic design, audiovisual editing... the clerical work is a SLOG! so be aware if you try to go into it that that's what you're in for. it's a job like any other, so it's not a total breeze!

TAXES TOO!! you have to do them on your own, or get a sex worker-friendly accountant (lots will turn you down if you do 18+ work). so set aside 30% for that (or however much for your area)!

so I'd say go for it if you think you'd like it, but DO. YOUR. RESEARCH. FIRST! lots of it! you're NOT going to make it big selling feet pics on onlyfans as a total newbie. you CAN make a decent (or amazing) living off of it if you have dedication, creativity, patience, and time, though!

Anyways this is Professor Iso! Local Silly Guy(tm). Wandered into the Hadal Blacksite some time after he gained sapience. He will happily interact with any expendables he comes across and will travel with them so that he may learn more on his endless pursuit of knowledge.

He already knows about many of the monsters present within the walls of the site, and he is more than happy to share facts about them - namely, how to survive them. He's on friendly terms with Painter, so if he is traveling with you, the AI will not shoot at you for risk of hitting the isopod (Painter will still block your progress by locking doors and through other means, though).

Unfortunately, his friendly nature means he acts cordial towards EVERYTHING in the facility, so if he tags along, he will try to get the attention of any monsters, meaning they will notice you faster by extension and you have less time to deal with them. Iso is also at odds with Sebastian (Iso thinks he would be a great source of information if he could only befriend Sebastian, Sebastian thinks he's incredibly annoying), so if you have the professor with you, Sebastian will be a lot less patient with you being in his shop. Try not to hang around for too long or he's bound to lose his already-small patience and kick you out.

(As I said above, I am not familiar with all of the canon of the game so is he canon-compliant? I don't know! But he's not supposed to be a deeply serious character so whatever lol)

You were a Jr researcher on 590s team, working along side a few notable doctors. You only spoke to two of them though, Dr. Jaime who was a pain in your ass and nothing but a snake literally. And of course the 'leader' of this team Dr. Amar, a site director who was calling this her chill time vs some of the other things he's had to do. You worked along side Dr. Jaime while reporting all your work to Dr. Amar, so you didn't have many opportunities to talk to the notable director.

During your time working with 590 you grew close to him, you don't know why maybe from the tales he's told you and so many others of the pain he's faced. Maybe from observing him and seeing how his life has led him to be an overgrown child, maybe you grew close to him because he trusted you. Once other researchers had left you stayed keeping 590 company when you could, always lying to the higher ups and saying you were 'perfecting' research when in all honesty you were letting TJ explain his drawings to you.

You had been such a big help to TJ, almost like you had a silver tongue you convinced the 05 to let TJ walk around. Within a week you received an email allowing you to let TJ walk about signed off by 05-6, who always seemed to be the only 05 observing your research with TJ. You helped the boy use his crutches to walk and protected him from knocking into others. You two grew became pretty good friends, and someone began to notice.

One day as you sat in TJs cell drawing with him, a person stood behind the one way mirror watching you two. Watching as you helped TJ regain the childhood he had ripped away from him. Doing what he somehow couldn't do, especially now with the title they've received. A tearful Dr. Amar stood on the other side happy his little brother had someone else to trust within the foundation.

Once you left TJ that day having to do paperwork, you were met with the ginger doctor. You felt as if you had been caught committing a crime, you expected for him to reprimand you. You expected to receive the same lecture Dr. Glass once had over trying to be kind towards the SCPs. But instead you received a pat on your shoulder before being brought in by the side. Both of you side by side as she hugged you in their own way. "Thanks for keeping my brother company all this time, I wish I could've done more for him but I'm glad not every staff member in this foundation is a monster." He said before letting you go with a smile.

You two became pretty good friends afterwards, both of you taking time to hang with TJ. You may not get into trouble like her or blow holes into the sites walls, but he kept you close just because you were a rare one amongst all the researchers he's met. She warned you though about treating other SCPs in a similar way, as some could..manipulate your kindness. You two usually always find a way to work together especially when it comes to working with TJ. Eventually you two actually worked together to appeal over and over to the foundation to let TJ into Jacks care, and eventually y'alls appeals were heard.

Now you three hang out in and out of the foundation giving TJ the life he deserved.

why don’t u make a maths sideblog? even just to talk about it

mainly just because i don't make sideblogs unless they're for specific things like thursday bracket etc.. it's kind of a hassle for me to remember to switch between them and stuff like that... if i have a thought it's going on main no matter what topic its about bcoz this isn't really a themed blog it's just about whatever interests i have hehe :3 but the only reason i don't post maths a lot is because i don't usually have many thoughts about maths that translate well into tumblr posts it's one of those things that i struggle to find words for because it's just incredibly There in my life it's kind of like trying to explain the colour blue or something and i don't really feel the need to communicate it to people im just comfortable with hanging out and having it as part of my life.. but i do loveeeee hearing other people's thoughts and discussing questions they have and stuff like that so usually when i post it's something like hey everyone tell me something about maths hehe... if i do post about it it would usually be about some outside context like some homework ive been set or something that happened at a maths related event i was at. or sometimes when i get really obsessed with some part of maths i just make posts that are like ALGORITHM!!! or something because i can't clarify my thoughts/excitement much further than that and they're kind of inane and not fun for anyone except me . Well that's most of my blog but still. also i get nervous to post like facts/explanations because i don't want to act like an authority on things because im not im just at uni u know.... there are many people on this site who know wayyyy more than me lol and i don't want to make stupid mistakes because maths is really important to me. but i will sometimes if like someone specifically asks me to explain something and im comfortable with my knowledge about it.. and ive done that a couple times on here in the past but its probably hard to find. Autobiography

Dear Future Husband,

I recently reconnected with a friend from middle/high school. We got to schmoozing over text and last week I went to her place to hang out and chat for a while.

She's currently going through a lot and there were certain things we were able to relate to each other about.

While we were schmoozing I found myself saying "ok, yeah, so let me tell you _____ but it's a whole story" and after a while I was like "I'm so sorry everything is such a long story!" and she said "no, it's great! you should totally write a book! I'm hooked!"

The thing is, I've actually tried. I've started multiple autobiographies and it's so hard for me to focus my story because there's so many outlandish things that have happened, especially things that were supposed to be simple like getting my ears pierced as a kid turned into a whole ordeal, and I just haven't been able to keep it on track.

But maybe it just needs to be vignettes. Chapters kind of like these posts are.

Except that even here I feel like there's not enough backstory and I have to backtrack constantly...

I don't know.

Maybe it's just not worth it.

Who would read it, anyway? Literally one friend? lol

Most of the time I write just to get things out.

I have this belief that "a diary is for oneself, an autobiography is for others", which is to say that there has to be a takeaway from one's story for it to be worth writing it into a book.

But I don't know what the takeaway from my story is.

That I suck at everything? That God likes to create little punching bags, one of which is named LivelyHeart? Don't judge a book by it's cover?

I literally don't know what anyone can takeaway from my life except that maybe someone out there can relate and feel less lonely because they've been through crap too. But that's why blog sites exist in general, no? People share TMI on social media too.

So if it's not a book to learn something from or for entertainment, what is it for....?

On a sidenote, Meaningful Minute just posted this podcast with a young woman who was born with a disability called TAR, so a bunch of her limbs are wrongly proportioned and she has basically no arms and I'm jealous.

I'm jealous of the support system she had and still has today.

I'm jealous of how the schools she attended bent over backwards to accomodate her disability.

I'm jealous of her emunah and strength.

Because I had "hidden" disabilities. And everyone couldn't care less about my struggles.

She said she never experienced bullying in her childhood.

I did.

She had friends in and out of school.

I didn't.

She had/has parents who are such strong advocates for her.

I don't.

She understands she may never get married but she still has hope that the right guy is out there for her.

I barely do.

She says Hashem is her best friend.

Well, He's not mine.

And it's insane to me that I should feel any kind of jealousy for someone who has the struggles she does.

She told that mashal of if everyone put their problems in a big bowl and got to pull out someone else's to try on for size, they'd always want their own back.

Yeah, I don't know if that's true. I think mine feel familiar because I've lived with them so long, but there are people who don't live with the kind of dysfunction I have and I would much rather struggle with something else than walking on eggshells around the people who are supposed to love and support me unconditionally.

Because everything comes with conditions. And I'm so sick of it.

I saw another video recently where this girl who used to be in Hollywood and had a short-lived music career before ending up with a serious drinking and drug problem described some of her struggles and how her sobriety is going, and she said the one thing that saved her was a friend who was her unconditional support system. Because every time she failed and ended up on substances again, her friend was there to pick her up and say "no, we're doing this again, and we're going to get you clean."

I don't have that in my life.

I'm addicted to despair and nobody can pull me out of it.

And it's so damn hard to do alone.

So if I wrote my story, wouldn't it just depress people? Wouldn't it just make them feel bad about their lives too? Focusing so much on negativity just invites more negativity, doesn't it?

I don't know.

I just hope at some point God decides I'm worthy of feeling love and support in my life.

It would be really nice to experience that for the first time.

Like many others on Twitter today, I'm partially committing to the mass exodus. Figure I might as well get over here before the site actually finally dies and I get buried in the masses. So starting here tardy, but hopefully not too late.

That being said, I was originally a user here in 2013 and left in 2018 during the purge. (So you don't have to worry about me treating Tumblr like Twitter, lol.) Never thought I'd be active here again. But Mastodon, Pillowfort, Dreamwidth etc feel a bit too niche for me and I really dislike being on dozens of platforms when just one will do the trick.
