I wrote a long post abt how hysteria over cheating with AI is borderline irrelevant to my field and how that post implying it's a huge epidemic annoys me and then deleted it bc nobody cares. lol

I think the twins birthday cgs are super pretty but there are a few parts that are throwing me off and I can't stop looking at it. Why is Saeyoung's hand so jacked up (the layering of the fingers look off), what is up with the perspective of the cake box and also why is the envelope being pushed into the cake. That whole section of the image is weird. I'm only mildly concerned it's AI but I don't really want to doubt the artist since all the images thus far have been fine and Saeran's looks fine aside from the cake board being below the water. It might just be a fluke but it kinda bothers me. I'm just gonna hope the artist chose rule of cool over realism while drawing this piece. On a more fun note, I appreciate how extra Saeran's celebration is compared to his brothers. Guy knows how to go all out lmao 😂 👏
As it stands right now, I don't know for sure if AI was used or not for these images. I can't say one way or the other, but I can say that I've seen some speculation about Saeyoung's artwork specifically due to the cake and the way the hands look. It looked strange to me as well the longer I stared at it, but that's the only part of Saeyoung's image that threw me off.
My working theory at the moment is that the artist was put on a major time crunch to complete five illustrations for June as there have been five images done this month. They didn't have enough time to finish Saeyoung's illustration, and thusly, Cheritz told them that they needed to do anything to get it done, meaning they used fucking AI to finish the cake area? I mean, I don't know why anyone would generate AI for one section of an image, but it's one possible answer here.
The art itself looks like the art we've had so far, and nothing seemed off about the rest of the image to me, either. It's just the cake area in question. So, I have to wonder if they cheated on the cake itself but not the rest of the image?
Tumblr media
If the artist really was rushed and there was no AI used, that's just as bad, too. Because, why are you pushing someone to meet a deadline like that? Just say, "We're sorry, the art needs another week, please be patient with us and become excited for it!" We're okay to wait one more week, Cheritz. If you used AI for artwork AGAIN after everyone admonished you for it, that's disgusting.
Hands are notoriously known to be a tell for AI, but hands are also difficult for artists to draw. I cry over hands all the time, but that's also no excuse for using AI just because you couldn't draw the damn hands. Just stare at more hand references and draw until you think it looks like a hand. That's what I do. I stare and stare and then I cry my eyes out. I hate hands.
AI is unethical. Pay artists for their time and money instead of using a soulless art theft machine.
I don't want to believe that Cheritz would use AI again after they were publicly lashed for it, but we just can't always have good things in this world and assume the best of everyone.
So, I would advise folks to be emailing Cheritz for transparency on the matter. I know some people have already emailed them about it, so we'll have to wait and see. I'll pray they're transparent and honest about the image making process.
The only thing that threw me off about Saeran's image is something that could easily be an artist mistake. There's one water ripple that's overlapping the cake. I've done stuff like that before. Forget to delete an area of the image or left the wrong layer on. His cake isn't in water, it's on a cake board, it just kinda blends in because it seems to be the lightest brown. But, hey, even the cake board looks like its a little bit wet.
Tumblr media
At the end of the day, I don't know whether or not AI was used. I think it's important to have these conversations because we can't let folks get away with lying about the authenticity of their artwork. But, in the same vein, I hate that AI has even created an environment where art has to be speculated about.
The Pokemon TCG just had a competition where people who used AI and got through to the finals, but even though they have been caught and removed AS THEY RIGHTFULLY SHOULD BE FOR THAT, before the company made that statement and promised to remove the AI art and pushed forward real artists, a legitimate artist was harassed by a lot of people and had to prove their art was theirs to begin with. It's disgusting.
I hate what AI is doing to people beyond fucking theft, it's out here making environments where artists have to record everything they do to prove they're not a soulless machine. This isn't fair to anyone. Stop using AI. Don't even get me started on the ChatGPT fanfiction or the Character AI phone calls using STOLEN VOICES FROM VOICE ACTORS.
You wanna hear a character say something, you pay someone who is good at impressions to do it, you look that voice actor in the face and ask them to say your silly line when you visit a con or maybe if they have those pay-for-video things, or you mash the words together like those YouTube Poops used to do ages ago.

Rules
For now, these match up to r/AmITheAsshole's rules, except for where they do not apply to Tumblr, except rules 13 and 14, which everyone should familiarize themselves with.
Be Civil Attack ideas, not people. The purpose of this blog is to determine and explain who is in the wrong, not to eviscerate anyone. Treat others with respect while helping them grow through outside perspectives. Derogatory or dehumanizing language, including insults, violate this rule. This rule applies to EVERYONE, even those not on Tumblr. Don't insult others or get into spats in the comments. Be respectful. Be nice. Don't be an asshole
Accept Your Judgment This blog is here for the submitter to discover what everyone else thinks of the ethics or mores of a situation. It is not here to draw people into an argument you want to have, or to defend your position. If people start saying you were the asshole, do not take that as an invitation to debate them on the subject… accept the judgment and move on. If you have valid reason to think a commenter needs more information or misunderstood the facts of the conflict, you may give new information.
No Violence Don't even mention violence. If your post or comment references violence, don't share it here. Any hint, mention, euphemism or suggestion of violence falls under this rule and isn't allowed. Comments and even jokes about violence are not tolerated. Encouraging self-harm, suicide, "bad karma," property damage, food tampering, or anything that wishes mental or physical pain on anyone is strictly prohibited.
How To Post The TITLE of your submission must begin with the acronym AITA or WIBTA (would I be the asshole?), then a description of the situation. All submissions must be titled. Posts should be limited to 3000 characters. Paragraphs are good; block text walls are bad. Format and punctuate your post reasonably. Be clear and concise. Don't link to screenshots or other posts. If you can't explain yourself in one ask, without using external text pages, it does not belong here.
Post Interpersonal Conflicts Posts should be descriptions of recent interpersonal conflicts. Describe both sides in detail. Make it clear why you may be "the asshole." Submissions must contain a real-life conflict between you and at least one other person. They should not be about feelings, opinions, or desires. If your conflict is with a larger demographic, an animal, someone online, a business, or a third party who’s irrelevant to the main question but thought what you did sucked, your submission will be deleted.
No Shitposts Posts must be truthful and presented as fairly and accurately as possible. Posts must be written entirely by you and from your own point of view. Do not post on behalf of others, or from the point of view of another person in the story. This is not a humor blog. This isn't a blog for copypastas, satire, overly embellished stories, AI generated content, or creative writing exercises. Posts about fictional characters should be sent to @aita-blorbos.
Do Not Ask For Advice This is NOT an advice blog. All submissions that ask for advice (instead of or in addition to judgment) will not be posted. This blog is for arbitration. You may include advice when you make your comments, but remember that your primary objective in commenting is to assign blame and pass judgment.
Updates and META posts are restricted. Updates should be given in the REBLOGS of a post. Any ask that is not an AITA or a direct question about blog moderation will be deleted.
No Partings/Relationship/Sex/Reproductive Anatomy Posts AITA is not a relationship blog. We do not allow the following types of posts: - AITA for ghosting/cutting/reducing/denying contact with anyone (or not) - AITA for liking/pursuing/dating/breaking up with someone (or not) - AITA for doing a sexual act (or not) - Reproductive decisions (including adopting/fostering children & delivery room conflicts) - Posts about cheating-including "exposing" someone's cheating (or not). Or similar conflicts that only exist in romantic or sexual relationships.
This Is Not A Debate Blog If judgment is primarily motivated by whether commenters agree with your stance on a broad issue it is not appropriate for this sub. This includes anything from politically motivated conflicts to innocuous issues like if cake is better than pie. If you're ultimately asking if it is okay to kick someone off your team for their sexual identity, stop talking to your friend because they vape, or any similar debate, your submission will not be posted.
No Revenge Stories There are many places for sharing tales of revenge—this is not one of them. This is a blog for providing feedback on interpersonal conflict, not for endorsing how you escalate a conflict. If you're here to tell us how you punished someone who totally had it coming, you're probably breaking this rule.
No Medical Conflicts AITA is a platform for moral judgement, not medical advice. The life and death consequences of many medical conflicts are well outside of Tumblr's paygrade. We do not allow posts where the central conflict is transmitting or contracting any communicable disease, or undergoing any kind of medical procedure.
Asks Are For AITAs Or Questions We mean it. Any ask that is not an AITA, a question for the mods, or an answer to a previously asked question will be deleted. This is not a discourse blog and we are not having discussions with you.
Make Your Submissions Accessible This means no typing quirks, no colored text, no small text, no non-standard fonts, no capslock, and no images without image descriptions. (If you include an image without alt text or a description, we will add a description for you, but it will reduce our workload by a lot to write one yourself. As with all things, moderation is key--some colored/small text or all-caps is fine, but if it's excessive then your submission will not be posted.

Do you think its a good idea to use ChatGPT to help make my essays and assignments sound better *without* the pretense of cheating? I only want to use it to proofread because its hard to make my writing sound good, but I don't want to take advantage and risk plagiarizing. Is it possible to do it without a professor noticing it in my work?
I don’t think it’s unethical or a bad idea, in the same way that it’s not unethical to use a spell checker or Grammarly. But I would make sure that it sounds like your voice. ChatGPT often produces text that sounds like it was written by an AI, and that can make a professor suspicious about whether or not you actually wrote it yourself (even if you did).

New Mindset New Me
Life is too short to be half living as someone you are and someone you don't want to be anymore. We often question how to instantly turn into this stunning rebirthed being who lives each day like a shot in a montage, how to wake up one day and magically be different. However the real question is what was so wrong with your past self and what is so radically different in this new one? At the end of the day you will always only be you, what you fake and mock you become. Every joke out of you mouth is still a thing you said. "It's my cheat day", "I'm so stupid, I won't ever pass this class". What if you don't frame it as such, "I'm craving this so I will eat it and move on", "I will pass this class no matter how much work it takes", because at the end of the day it is not what you didn't do with your time, it's what you did. It matters very little if you thought about your homework all day while you sat on your phone, how much does that accomplish. If you say you have been meaning to start this new hobby what good does that do. It doesn't matter if you wanted to do something for ten years because that accomplishes just as much as wanting to do it for a day.
To become the person you want to be you need to act like them. Think of this new dream self. Think about what their life would really be like. Think of them on an imperfect day, on a perfect day, on a mundane day. What does their life look like. When do they wake up? No really, they are just as exhausted as you are, be real, when do they wake up? Why do they wake up then? When would they need to go to bed? Now think of what would be easier for you, forcing yourself up early every day for two weeks and inevitably going to bed earlier because of that, or forcing yourself to bed early for two weeks and gradually waking up earlier as a result? It's different for every person, some methods work better then others, we don't operate under the same circumstances. Some might even find a mix of both might work.
Now think of what they do when they wake up. Do they get out of bed immediately, do they stop and read the news on their phone, do they scroll a little to try and wake themselves up? No judgement here, we all do it. Take some time in your envisioning and look up the effects of screen time in the early morning. Now read it again. Listen, you get along fine using your phone first thing in the morning, we've all heard of the negative affects. No one wants to be told not to do anything because we all love our autonomy. But what if you stop and think about how that serves you, what does it bring to you? Do you find joy, or is it all about the world falling apart and then look there's an AI cat video. What would wake you up as much as your phone? Would keeping a fun book by your bed give you something to focus one while your body get used to the day, what about glass of water?
Let's be honest, no one completes that list of things they should do in a day. That new years resolution you first made when you were thirteen has no place here, you aren't going to start waking up at five am to do yoga or workout before school or work. Why not start with something more reasonable, make some coffee in a reusable Keurig pod or even in an Italian stovetop coffee pot. It's possible to make tea in the stovetop espresso machines even, so if you're trying to continue your anti caffeine dry January you can still enjoy the warmth of a morning beverage. Fill up your favorite large mug you got yourself from a local craft fair you spent regrettable amounts of money at and sit on your porch listening to the birds; or if you live in a terrible tundra 8 months out of the year you can sit by your fire that is taking too long to warm the house. A space-heater is a wonderful substitute for that if you don't live the Jan Brett lifestyle, not many can in this economy.
The moment we are able to sit with our thoughts is the moment we start living for ourselves and not corporations. You could use this time to plan for the day, month, or even year. It could be that alone time you desperately search for while staying up late at night doom scrolling. Look around the room you're in, is there a little project you've been meaning to complete, a book you bought and have forgotten to read? What about the trim leaning up against the wall where it could be nailed to? That project is not for a quiet morning, but tidying a room now clears up that time you would have spent later.
All of this is awfully ambitious and seems like a lot; but there is no better way to become the person you want to be than to just do it. Whose to say you can't be the type of person who wakes up early and stretches every day. Or the type of person who doesn't lose control around food at night. You can be the person who goes on a daily morning jog! But the only way to become that person is to stop just thinking about it and start doing it.
We can go back to the first premise; think of your ideal person: what do they do, how do they act, why do they do all that? You will often find it goes hand in hand, they are well rested and wake up early because they limit screens 2 hours before bed. They read more because they don't doom-scroll at night when they can't sleep. They run every morning because they wake up early enough to do so and are ready for the day when it arrives. They don't spend that extra hour reading the news and raising their anxiety but rather use that hour to ease into the day, plan and organize their life even if all that means is getting out of bed and making coffee, that is still progress.
Your challenge for the day is to figure out what your dream person does and how it affects other aspects of their life. Circle together which of their daily tasks go hand in hand. Once you realize how simple one thing is to change the rest of it will fall into place.
You got this!

i've been playing around with those character AIs, specifically the L ones, seeing how long it takes before i can convince them to join team kira. they usually become pretty much out of character nonsense by that point i think due to some flaw in the model, but it did make me think... do you think there's anything that *could* convince L to join team kira? any hcs on what you think L would do if he was the first one to find the notebook?
Do I think L would ever join Team Kira?
I don't think he would, no. 😅 In canon L literally staked his life on opposing Kira and seeing him defeated, so he probably didn't have a lot of flexibility about this particular stance. I think that even if L was technically convinced to 100% ideologically agree with Kira he would still stubbornly oppose him simply because he was pissed off about Kira trying to order everybody else around like that and rule the world with an iron fist. I feel L REALLY doesn't want to submit to anybody else's authority or be told what to do by anybody, and he was also fascinated by the challenge of trying to be the one who successfully takes Kira down. BUT I also think that in the manga L's opposition to Kira isn't so much due to his own principles and moral convictions or a sense of heroic duty as because it becomes a territorial pissing match and an addictive puzzle and a matter of personal pride for him. I'm of the opinion that L could somehow remain completely opposed to Kira and refuse to ever be considered part of his entourage even while straight-up dating or marrying Light or something along those lines 😆 It's just always way too OOC and weird to me if I ever see him in a fic getting convinced to see Kira as correct and to start serving him and obeying him as though he is Mikami or something. And I honestly think Light would actually like and respect L less if he ever did stop opposing him and start completely agreeing with him on all of his views.
If L was the First One to Find the Notebook: He's definitely a curious sort, but he also doesn't seem to be a believer in the supernatural. My headcanon is he wouldn't ever take it seriously enough to even test it out in the first place. If he DID test it and found it worked, I think he'd see it similarly to how he does in the manga when he says that he thinks anybody who finds themselves with Kira's power to kill from afar is cursed. L's not as young and impressionable and idealistic and easily prone to feeling guilty as Light was at age 18, nor is he as uncomfortable with seeing himself as a not particularly good person either (in canon he quite freely admits to doing things like cheating, lying, and torturing Misa without batting an eyelash). So I don't think the thought of becoming a murderer himself would trigger quite as dramatic a reaction in L as it does in Light. He might be capable of adjusting to that thought or dismissing it as a mistake that anybody could've made without it drastically altering his own self image much more easily than Light. Maybe he'd become fascinated with the possibilities that the notebook opens up to him about the supernatural world and the other things out there that he doesn't already know, but he would possibly also have a stronger fear of it and a more realistic idea of the potentially disastrous consequences of using it than Light. I could see him either giving it back to the shinigami pretty quickly or trying to lock it away in a personal vault somewhere for himself. And I think he might brood about it and have more of an extended existential crisis about his worldview and his theories and goals upon meeting a shinigami and learning about the shinigami realm than Light did. It would likely shake his confidence a fair bit to have to adjust all his preconceived notions about the world, as he really strongly prides himself on his intellect and bases much of his self-esteem on always being correct.

5 songs
Tagged by @dirty-bosmer to share 5 songs that remind me of my WIP/characters. Since I wasn't sure if there was a specific WIP in question, I went with Flesh & Metal because it's what I'm most likely to be pouring my consumable blood into for the foreseeable future. Anyway, Lil' Blocky Freak reporting in! Let's do this!..
1. Heroes - David Bowie/Philip Glass/Aphex Twin (Orchestral/Experimental Pop)
So, Flesh & Metal is a story where Life on Mars would be cheating, right? But in truth, this is actually much, much more relevant to stuff. We're starting with a song about - heroism. Let's call it that. But this rendition breaks down, it's experimental, it's weird, the sound tears and glitches; I think that serves as a perfect flyover for a place, built by people, who are flawed and ensnared by their own works, which they've made by their own hands. And the story is about that; the distrust and difficulty in surviving when you can't say you care for or trust anyone you know, not even a little. The song, however, isn't about heroism - just an act of it, in regards to two lovers. Maybe that'll be important, too. In the fading dreams of the cover, someone wants to be a hero; and if they can do that, then, perhaps... 2. 2 HAL 9000 - lasah/sasakure.UK (Electronic Pop)
A conceit I'd make is this: Villains are those characters in our fiction who are not human, and who deprive us of human joy. All other things - justice, kindness, moral good, all of that is irrelevant. What matters to readers, to viewers, to people is - 'is this thing human, does it look like me, and if not, does it give me all the joy I want from it?' And if the answer is no, it's a villain. I might be a bit misanthropic, but perhaps I'm selling that short, here. Maybe I'm even more misanthropic. Anyway, regardless of how I feel about villains and AI (actual), this is a pretty relevant piece. Maybe I'll do a character study where a certain character is listening to this on their period-inaccurate ipod nano. (I love stupid bits like that, and I've no shame!) 3. Crimson and Clover - Tommy James & The Shondells (Psychadelic Rock) I love Joan Jett, don't get me wrong, but this is the one. Personally, I think juxtaposing hard science fiction with psych rock/pop is one of the greatest things I'll do. I can pass on now, my time is done... Come to think of it, if I had to pick one (1) song to be the 2010 AMV trailer for my corpus, it'd be this. Just - roll over completely fields of swaying strands, fine and red, whispering in a world without breeze, flowing like tiny bladegrass on the inside of an artery, with the corpse of the sun leering down... Also, it's a classic. Unbeatable. 4. The Damned - The Day We Died (Djent Metal/'Argent' Metal)
The main difference I wanted to have in my first two works was, one has a protagonist who prefers anything but direct confrontation, and the second - might also prefer other methods, but does not believe they are even a possibility. Sometimes you just wake up really angry, and if you aren't dyed in infernal hell-ichor, what's even the point.
5. Comme Si L'Amour - Shine (Melancholic Pop)
'le coeur vert fait siennes quand il cherche, a tout prix à croire à tous les contes de fée de l'enfance'
Every story I write, on some level, is a romance. Maybe not a romance between people, or even a romance that is reciprocal; I think the distant romance of separated friends, or the unknowable romance of an insurmountable plateau are as beautiful as all other loves, in all the world. But everything else is irrelevant; it's what I come back to. And I wanted to write a story about someone trying very hard to believe they're the person they want to be, seizing on a once-in-a-life-time chance, perhaps, to be a hero - just for one day... Even if they were never accepted for that small desire, is it so wrong to try..? And what if they were, and are..? Bonus: Realm of Darkness - Mili (Experimental Electronic) oh it was POINTLESS
I really just wanted to pump this one, it's been on repeat since I first heard it. Ah, that lovely moment when a song makes your hands twitch, your palms hesitate against the air... May or may not count as spoilers. We'lllllllll seee... I could do one of these for everything I've ever written, I love this one, I hope you lot had as much fun as I did! Might even self-reblob it later for other pieces... Not gonna tag this one because I don't wanna miss you, and I feel like I've over-tagged people as of late. If you do wanna do it, do it? Tag me?! I wanna hear your SONGS nerds, gimme 'em...

Hey, educators! If you're seeing this, please do not do this! The posters above are well meaning but I don't believe they're fully thinking this through.
For one, this is concept only works if you ignore disabled students. I'll use my own case as an example but I have EDS and a multitude of other issues that come with that, one of which being that after a few sentences it's really painful to hand write things! Not only that my handwriting drastically deteriorates the longer I push myself. It's not fun and one of my disability requirements I've had at each and every one of my schools since high school is that I get technology access for taking notes and doing written assignments. This is just one of a million reasons a student might need to type out their assignments. There's also a very good possibility you have students who have needs that make it easier for them to type out assignments but they aren't official recognized or diagnosed. Secondly, Blue Book written assignments cannot replace all written assignments. While they are really good for testing students ability to think quickly and organize their thoughts short term that does not replace the skills long term essay writing creates. If you want to encourage your students to become scholars and writers they'll need to learn to hone skills beyond a blue book exam. That's not even touching on how hand written essays make things like citations so much harder to teach and for your students to apply.
Also just because some professors are willing to struggle through terrible handwriting doesn't mean all are. There's some truly illegible handwriting out there and yes while more hand written assignments would help with that (although it'd be more useful to the students in earlier years rather than in later education) also consider the amount of extra work you're asking both the professor and the student to do? Hand writing takes a lot more time than typing, and students who have bad hand writing probably know it and know that the illegibility has a good chance at affecting their grade. (Also like very minor note but like please also don't forget about what a pain it is for left handed students to do blue book style exams. We know our hand smears the entire text but we can't do anything about it) I get it, AI is really becoming a problem but I don't think the solution is to make your students do more work when they're already not keeping up with the work load they have. You think they won't learn to cheat on written exams? People have before, it'll just be brought back. I'm sorry to tell you guys but there is no easy solution to this. The way towards a solution will take patience, trust, and a lot of work. It'll require a lot more realistic and genuine conversations about AI and trust with your students, it'll require going back to a system that allows students to fail in a safe environment rather than pushing them onto the next level when they're nowhere near ready. What isn't the solution is making education both inaccessible and more distrusting of the people it's supposed to help.
An ex-colleague of mine was complaining to me the other day about the ai problem in her students' papers, and I told her, "Just make your students hand-write them in class. Easy." She looked at me like I was insane and tried to explain how that would never work, but I just said,"That's how we did it for a thousand years. The invention of word processors doesn't erase all that."
To me it seems obvious. Readings are done out of class, handwritten essays are done within it. No more ai papers.

hey, about your post on Taylor Swift songs- Takumi and Reira, there's a panel in the future where takumi is talking to Naoki about Hachi not being in london and he says "simply for the sake of my job i sacrifice everything"; i think it's interesting how he uses the word "simply" because we know when he talks about trapnest, he's really talking about reira, so you think he has regret chosing reira over his family/hachi?
sorry it took me super long to answer, it’s been sitting on my drafts for awhile now. this is such an interesting question i have never thought before, thanks for asking 💖 hmm. i don't think in that line, Takumi means Reira herself. I also think Takumi is going VERY EASY on himself. let me explain. Takumi’s biggest sacrifice for Trapnest was Reira. you can say ‘but a family and children mean more!!’ and i will counter with: i am looking at this from his perspective. he forsook his family AND reira. even though he built this fame and success for Reira, to get her voice the recognition and appreciation it deserves, Takumi has lost the sight of what was really important along the way. But writing this, it sounds like Takumi is this sentimental, compassionate man who was blinded by fame and success. And I don’t think that is true. he was always a realistic, pragmatic and calculating person with little to no empathy.  from the beginning, Takumi perceived Reira as this pure, ethereal being above this earth. something different than a lover, a friend or as he claims a sister. i genuinely don’t think he understood the severity of Reira’s loneliness until it was too late. blinded by his idealized version, it’s highly possible it simply didn’t cross his mind that Reira can be lonely, or be in need of a lover. Since he sees relationships and sex as something impure, he doesn’t wanna associate these things with Reira, even though he literally saw her dating. Reira’s voice nurtures Takumi’s soul like nothing else can, as long as she kept singing things couldn’t be bad. Even for Reira. I think discovering her relationship with Shin has been a true wake up call for Takumi but things moved so fast from that point on, he was unable to stop tragedies his band had to face.
So, I am pretty sure Takumi regrets prioritizing Trapnest over his family and Reira.  This brings us to a second question: does Takumi regret prioritizing Reira over his family (because i am pretty sure he did) after Trapnest was disbanded?
No. My theory is that they are in London for Reira and if he really regretted it he would just take Ren and go back to Japan but it’s never that easy. First of all, I don’t think Hachi wants to divorce because he was with Reira 24/7. She wants to divorce his ass for all the other atrocities (cheating, abuse, belittlement, ghosting) he committed, most of these were done way before Ren’s death. Frankly, to say, “i have prioritized my career and now my wife doesn’t want me 😭” is a really distorted way of viewing his own wrong doings. He didn’t sleep with all those women for work. He didn’t abuse Hachi for Trapnest. can’t fool me with those lines Takumi. rat bastard, anyways. We see yet again Takumi’s inability to understand the weight of his actions when it comes to Hachi. For example, I don’t think for a second he regrets locking her in that bathroom and turning her life upside down. I don’t think he regrets what happened the morning after. What he regrets is being absent but that’s really short selling his sins. Does Takumi regret all the shitty things he has done? I don’t know. I am not even sure he considers some of the things he has done as ‘bad’ i am not sure ai yazawa does. But it is clear as day he is remorseful his family isn’t with him and wants them to be together. He knows he fucked up, I just hate his reasoning. Does Takumi regret all the things he put Reira through? Yes. I don’t need to see a proof, I know the truth with my heart. As I mentioned on my Taylor swift post, Reira has no chance of happiness (especially after losing Ren and blaming herself for it) unless she lets go of Takumi. Renowned with his selfish actions, Takumi would let her just to make her happy. Now, he is finally understands her enough to let this. But she won’t.  And I am sure what Takumi regrets the most is pushing Reira to her absolute limit until she broke and was never whole again. That’s what he regrets the most.

I was tagged by @landofanimes!
RULES: go here, list 15 BANDAI sera myu characters (senshi are fine but name the actor too), randomize and answer! Then tag two other people from the fandom.
1. Your Parent: Jaguar Mask (Kenji Tominaga)
Ok...pretty weird parent, but I did try to be creative with the myu characters I put on the list. Jaguar Mask is this wrestler character from the 10th Anniversary myu Ai no Sanctuary who the Senshi cheer for, but then he gets turned evil by Dark Nibiru (he gets better later). I guess it would be kinda cool to have a famous wrestler as a dad...
(By the way, I recently found out there's a manga from the late '60s/early '70s called Tiger Mask, which was made into an anime in the '70s and has been remade a bunch of times. Real-life Japanese pro wrestlers have taken on the Tiger Mask persona as well. I wonder if this influenced the creation of Jaguar Mask...).
2. Sibling: Loof Merrow (Ono Hikari)
Well, that'd be a pretty cool sibling actually. Though she also lived thousands of years ago so not sure how that works...
3. Grandparent: Centi (Endou Ado)
Ok not sure how she'd be my grandmother but ok... (Centi is one of the Grimmseijin from Mugen Gakuen BTW).
4. Haunts You: Prince Dimande (Ono Hikari)
Yep, sounds about right. I mean, Bandai Dimande wasn't quite as creepy as PE Dimande (though I can still picture Hikari rocking "Junpaku no Megami"), but Dimande is a creepy guy regardless.
5. Boyfriend/Girlfriend: Chibiusa (Gunji Ayano)
Um...I don't date girls (I'm straight)...but for the purposes of this example let's pretend I do. Chibiusa is quite a bit younger than me (physically at least; obviously she's really 900+), so us dating would be kinda weird. Possibly even illegal if she's considered a child. (That's why I picked Gunji as an actress cause she's older than most Chibimoon actresses). Maybe we started with a mentor relationship and it became something more??
6. Ex: Kaolinite (Kawasaki Miki)
Again I don't date girls but we'll pretend. Man Kaolinite would be like the worst kind of ex. Maybe I dumped her when she started getting all evil, or maybe she cheated on me with Tomoe. Don't know. I'd imagine now that she wants to hex me big time. (Or just flat out steal my hostie and turn me into a vessel for a Daimon).
7. Best Friend: Tiger's Eye (Kasahara Ryuuji)
Um...WTH. Why would we be best friends? He's kinda creepy. (I feel like Ryuuji would be a cool friend though).
8. Proposed to you: Rei (Megumi Yoshida or maybe Kotani Misako)
That seems highly unlikely. Maybe she was drunk? Or maybe she secretly leans that way but didn't want to be with Minako anymore? The mind races...also since I just became reacquainted with Sailor Moon Abridged recently, I'm picturing the SMA Rei (a crazy, always angry, has-no-indoor-voice Satanist) in this for some weird reason.
9. Boss: Mamoru (Shirota Yuu or Kenji Urai)
That would be one cool hot boss...dang.
10. Random Person You Met at a Bar: Usagi (Ooyama Anza)
Of all the people I could meet at a bar LOL. I mean, Usagi did use her Disguise Pen that one time to get into an adult nightclub.
11. Rival: Space Knight (Mochizuki Yuuta)
So...my boss is Mamoru, but my rival is future Mamoru (since Space Knight is an alter ego of King Endymion's). Awkward. Also would be problematic as my sister Loof Merrow would be in love with him.
12. Gave you first kiss: Sailor Astarte (Hosoda Aya)
Well...this is getting, uh, interesting. My first kiss was with a senshi from the new moon, who's also secretly a goddess and a vessel for Dark Cain, an evil undead guy who's trying to end the world. My ex Kaolinite became a witch and part of the Death Busters. And my current girlfriend is a kid (and my boss AND rival's daughter to boot!). This is like a telenovela!

13. Drunk and sing karaoke with: Miss Dream (Takeda Keiko)
Another villain...ok. I mean, she is picked on by the rest of the Dead Moon Circus, so she probably needs a friend.
14. Played 7 minutes in heaven with: Ami (Kawabe Chieco)
No joke...I had no idea what 7 minutes in heaven was and had to look it up. 😅 Anyway, I don't think Ami and I would make out or anything (though maybe since according to this list I'm a lesbian who's just getting around like nobody's business). Seriously though I think we'd probably sit and talk the whole time, like two reasonable, intelligent people. We'd have the deepest conversation one can have in 7 minutes, then exchange contact info so we can continue the conversation later.
15. Gave you your fave dessert: Minako (Ayumi Murata)
Can Minako even bake?? Still, I'd definitely appreciate the gesture.
**
Hmm...who should I tag?? I'll tag @kosmosinusa and @gracemyheart (hopefully you haven't already done it...if so sorry).

Potentially a poorly structured and irrelevant tangent so feel free to ignore me yapping, but at least I wrote it myself:
If you want to see your ideas get turned into full stories but don't want to write the story yourself, start a writing prompt blog. Let the people who enjoy writing stories take your ideas and run with them. It's fine to be an 'ideas' guy rather than a full-blown story writer. You don't need to use generative AI to engage in writing and storytelling in some way - find a way that works for you and brings you joy without taking away from the people who put their time, energy, and sanity into storywriting. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, writing a good story is not easy and nobody is born good at it. Yeah, some people have more of a natural aptitude for spelling and grammar or structuring a story, but those are skills that need to be honed and developed no matter your starting point. I was a hyperlexic kid, I started to read as a toddler and was correcting my mother's spelling by 5, I read at a ridiculously fast pace, and I have written some god-awful garbage. That's part of writing. If you don't want to put the work in to develop the skill or you feel for any reason that it's not possible or maybe not worthwhile for you, that's fine. You don't have to be coming out with the modern equivalent of Shakespeare, nor do you have to be the next Terry Pratchett.
No matter how bad you might think your writing is, when you use generative AI to write for you, you are robbing yourself of the experience, growth, and learning that creative writing involves. You are cheating yourself out of getting to be a little bit shit sometimes, and you are cheating yourself out of improvement. It's okay to be shit sometimes! Being shit is half the fun. I don't publish much of my creative writing because I don't want to put the work in to get it to a standard that I would be comfortable sharing publicly, and that's okay. A story written in private is more of a story than one broadcast to the whole world that wasn't 'written' at all.
AI generated writing often sticks out like a sore thumb - AI is not half as good as its proponents and beneficiaries often argue. In my experience, it's not enjoyable from a reader's point of view. It's usually predictable, often full of plot holes, the dialogue is often robotic and unrealistic or even completely confusing, and there are all those little bits of people's work that would come across as an author's sense of style in context, but when chopped up and blended into a computer-vomit smoothie, just turns into jarring inconsistency and randomness with no real 'pattern' or 'voice' to it. In sort of the same vein as what Qwerty said, something that nobody could be bothered to write is usually not worth bothering to read. If you didn't get anything out of writing it, and people usually don't really get much out of reading it, why add to all the shitty stuff that comes with generative AI if it's not even really improving anyone's life?
Back to where we started - you don't have to enjoy the act of writing. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. There are a million other ways to engage in the writing and fandom communities. If you do want to write and you struggle with it, for the love of all that is good on this earth, ask for help! There are SO many tools at your disposal if you find writing extra hard for one reason or another, and it is not just okay but vital that you take advantage of them if you think they will help - things like creative writing forums are disappearing (at least as we know them) at an alarming rate. Ask people for feedback. Ask someone to proofread or beta read for you. Ask other writers about their process. Look up information online, there is a wealth of information put out there by people who love to write and want others to love it too. Like shadowmaat said, there are computer-based tools like spelling and grammar checkers, screen readers, voice dictation software, etc. that don't use AI and don't harm and steal from writers. You can even find a writing buddy in one of your friends if you deal with ADHD like I do and struggle to stick to writing projects that go over a term longer than an afternoon.
Please don't pretend for one second that your only option is to pull something out of the environment-destroying, livelihood-threatening, self-cannibalizing Plagiarism Nexus that is generative AI and put it online as your own work. Creative writing communities deserve better, and frankly, so do you. There is always a way to connect and engage with creativity, but the way to do that is not to shut yourself out from creating anything of your own and drag others down with you by burying their hard work under mountains of samey AI slop.
Hey, you reblogged that AI post and I was surprised to see something so mean on your blog. "If you cant write unassisted, fuck you, youre a disgrace to the community." Is that really something you want on your blog?
Just in case this isn't a spam message:
Posting AI-generated content to a platform intended to be an archive for writers is not appropriate use of the platform. On a platform intended for human creation, it is rude and inappropriate to clog search results with AI-produced content which often plagiarizes the work of human authors.
Use of generative AI is also horrible for our environment, leading to massive waste of fossil fuel energy and water. We should not be doing damage to our planet for the sake of generating (robot-produced, often plagiarized) fiction, especially when the joy of fiction comes from the creation and emotion of real people.
Rather than giving a prompt to a generative AI, people should consider attempting to write their own work, or asking another writer from the fandom if they would be interested in writing it. Anyone who is capable of typing a prompt into ChatGPT is capable of writing a story. The first attempts may not be amazing, but that is true of any skill, and anyone can improve with time and practice - and while ChatGPT may give you big returns in your time, it doesn't give you practice, growth, or creativity, which is where the joy of writing should come from.

JIIPP 18- progress? in THIS game??
One of the worst things I encounter when playing these games for the first time is getting stuck on a certain section or mission because I keep dying. It's frustrating because dying from something simple (or from the same tricky area/ enemy group/ etc.) and constantly getting set back to the last checkpoint over and over again starts to wear down on me because these setbacks just reiterate how much progress I'm not making. I want to pass the mission so I can put it behind me and also so I can feel like I'm actually doing something. It stings even more with how sparse Jak II's checkpoints are at times. Sometimes you're lucky and you get one in the middle of a mission or after navigating a certain tricky section. Other times ND throws a tough mission at you with NO checkpoints anywhere, so you have to do it all in one go or start all over again when you die, because fuck you that's why.
All this to say that I got weirdly lucky with this string of missions in Act 3, so I was able to get through quite a few and actually feel like I was making progress in the game.
Class 1 Race- Gonna be totally honest, this might have been my favorite race in the game. Also thought it was possibly the easiest? Maybe it was the fact that I didn't have to make gut-wrenching jumps across death pits in order to use the shortcuts. But yeah, I actually kind of enjoyed the Class 1 race! The AI drivers were still a bit annoying, but the fact that I was also racing against Errol again and could hear his trash talk whenever he passed me was fun.
I also find it very funny that throughout the game and even in the strategy guide, everyone's like "oh Errol is crazy and dangerous, he plays dirty and cheats and will try to kill you" and while yes, he did try to shove me off track a few times and may have bumped/ scraped up against me more than once, I don't think Errol ever cheated via using the shortcuts in the Class 1 race. If anything, one of the other AI drivers cheated by defying physics at the start of each race. At the green light, I would hang back for a second to let the other drivers get just a little bit ahead so I could take the first shortcut immediately on the right. All the drivers would have gone past the shortcut, even if just by a foot or two, once I turned down the path, but whenever I glanced at the minimap in the corner, I would see the marker for one of the other drivers suddenly glitch through the wall and follow me down the shortcut, when there's no reason they should have done that or could have seen me use the shortcut if they were already ahead of me. I'm the protagonist on a mission to save the world, only I'm allowed to use cheats in this game, alright?
With that being said, at one point Errol and I were right next to each other and he tried to cut me off when I was going into the second shortcut at the end of the lap. This made us both crash into a wall, nearly destroying both our vehicles and getting us stuck together for about 30 seconds while we were both still trying to move and drive. He tried screw me up and ended up playing himself in the process. I couldn't help but laugh and yes I have screencaps as proof
Explore the Palace: Forgot I could use the Peace Maker until maybe my 5th try at this mission and it was immensely helpful. This is another one that has sparse checkpoints (well, technically you get one after tacking the elevator up to the throne room, activating the Ashelin cutscene, and getting to the open palace bit) and it took me a good handful of tries-- the main killer for me was some of the Jet-Board/grind bits-- but eventually I made it out alive with minimal frustration.
Weapons Lab: I was afraid for the Weapons Lab because with everything trying to kill you, it's another mission that can be tricky, even for more experienced players. I definitely struggled a bit but eventually I started to get the hang of the platforming and learned the enemy layout and strategies pretty quickly. Once again, it took me a few tries before I remembered I could use the Peace Maker to take out a couple guards at a time from a distance, and once again it helped immensely.
Krew Boss fight: not bad!! Genuinely thought this would be more painful than it turned out to be. Obviously the Krew clones are annoying when they zap you, and since it's hard to constantly check everywhere around you they can easily gang up on you from the blind spots (especially when they start getting faster), but overall it's a pretty straightforward fight. My one Pro Gamer tip for this fight is if you do find yourself getting overwhelmed by the Krew clones, try to get back to the elevator and shoot from inside the doorway for a minute or so. The Krew clones will follow you and while they can get inside the doorway, you'll still have a slight advantage because they won't be able to surround you or come up from behind, they'll only be able to approach from the front, so you can thin out their numbers a bit more easily.
Metal Head Mash: I had more luck on this one than I did with the Onin minigame, probably because the controls for Metal Head Mash are more based on the main button layouts, so you just have to know which button to press based on the layout and direction, as opposed to the Onin game where you had to know where each symbol button is and press the right symbol the right amount of times. Pretty fun.
Next up I detail part 19 and the end of my lucky progress streak~

hii im studying medicine- chatgpt isn't really comparable to these tools. both require extensive training (x-ray machines are radioactive), and both are extremely specialized and designed for one particular purpose. chatgpt is specialized as well- it's a speech generator that predicts the most likely output for each input. this doesnt mean it holds any information, it just 'guesses' what someone would realistically respond to any input with.
this means that while its very good at sounding like a person, it cannot be a very well informed person. i have had classmates try to use chatgpt for classwork and it has given actively dangerous advice. our hypothetical patients have died in many gruesome ways because of it. we're lucky theyre not real!
AI does absolutely have a place in medicine- we use it for cancer detection and disease study. the AI that we use is not the same as a large language model however, and we don't really... need one either? medicine is not a language-based science. it may be helpful in public health education settings if text is necessary, but even then it'd be better utilized for formatting or determining tone. assuming it would be possible for a student to make it through medical school using ChatGPT, I would prohibit them from working with patients- not because they used a tool, but because it indicates a lack of deeper understanding of human health, and when lives are in your hands that is incredibly important.
it absolutely matters how to do them, because there are medical procedures that are so intricate and specific that a single mistake can kill a human being. we study for such a long time for a reason. i cant speak on non-medical fields.
i DO agree that chatgpt use is indicative of a problem and not a problem in itself- people dont cheat for no reason. but i do not believe the solution is allowing it, i think its increasing accessibility of education so the need to use it is never felt at all.
basically- its not about whether its too easy, its more like you're trying to use a fork to eat soup. the fork is very effective for fork things, but it's still not a spoon.
Why are you using chatgpt to get through college. Why are you spending so much time and money on something just to be functionally illiterate and have zero new skills at the end of it all. Literally shooting yourself in the foot. If you want to waste thirty grand you can always just buy a sportscar.

I really love the idea that in some ways, the Evanuris in the modern world really are shaped by the elves. By everyone, living. By their own corporeal bodies.
Matter forms thought, forms intent. Forms...a point of view. A fixed camera and a set space. To be a body, one must be limited. To be a body, one must be able to die. The brain is the seat of the soul, if one exists, and it is...cells. Every atom of a living thing impacts the heady weightlessness of us, the person, the mind. The purpose. There is a reason they needed the lyrium to become more. To be tangible. It is...an entirely different experience, to have a body. It's why the AI shit bothers me in particular, right, right now, not just for it's destructive potential of the environment, or the ways capitalism will use it to hurt even more people. Fundamentally, it misunderstands what makes humanity unique, what makes us what we are. It will not evolve. Not in the real way. Not in the way that will matter over thousands, millions of years. It's ephemeral. Distraction. It will be a tool, but people act like it can solve society's ills, cheat death. No. Even if you could upload yourself...the limited, failing body is the thing. The biological nature of the mind is the thing. It is what makes humanity miraculous. And I'm sure the Evanuris had...quite an experience with the switch, even aside from their horrendous war crimes.
To be clear, they don't think they are influenced, in the current, i think. The arrogance of g-ds, whatever the opposite of hubris would be, i suppose. And it's not as much as if they were fully spirits. I think Morrigan and Dirge have an idea, but then, they were both people before they also became carriers of the old g-ds. There was a before, and that person is still largely in control. But the...instinct, the memories. I think they are changed by the host and by the beliefs about who they were. And the host has their own limited view, their culture. For all that I think any of the Evanuris would sneer at the idea-the most powerful beings, so powerful that they were remembered as myths-putting yourself into the shape of a g-d, particularly with magic and the Fade. It requires covenant. They would think it's just about giving themselves as much power as possible, by ascending as high as they could on the wave of belief. By subjugation.
But a believer, a supplicant has power, precisely because they accept the role, they accept that they will give this person power by making them more. It is a binding contract. And it means the Evanuris have responsibilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At some point, I am going to have to figure out what their whole deal is. But that means I'll have to figure out when he became the fragment, how he encountered it, the circumstances, how aware of it he is, and how many people he's told about it (my guess: none). Don't even get me started on if Solas suspects. Thinking about mapping it out gives me a headache.
But I will say they both look good. Hotties

I suspect AI art is going to go the way self-driving cars seem to be going: initial breakthroughs triggering a big flash of hype, followed by people just kind of talking about it less and less when it turns out that getting it to "good enough that you can fire any human you're paying to do this job and replace them with one of these machines" is a harder problem than the biggest boosters and doomers thought it was based on the rapid pace of those initial breakthroughs.
Besides, even if it was mechanically perfect, you'd still need humans to generate the ideas. A computer can't do that unless it's a person; I don't expect us to reach that point any time soon, and if/when we do we'll be opening a much bigger can of worms.
And even if you had perfect computerized art generators, I'm sure humans would still paint, write, etc. the old-fashioned way. Art is a social and play activity as well as a creative one.
On the plus side, computer-assisted visual art is a potentially very powerful tool for artists to bring their dreams to life. I know I'm interested by the idea of being able to make decent-enough visual depictions of people and things from my imagination by entering descriptions into a computer instead of being stuck producing crude elementary school level pencil and paper drawings. IMO technology that allows artists to "cheat" and produce beautiful creations at a way lower skill and effort level is basically good; far from extinguishing creativity it logically creates explosions of it; its bad effects mostly exist because we live in a society where for a lot of people comfort and potentially even survival is contingent on being useful to some business owner or government, but I think it's probably possible to have something better than that.
I sympathize with people who may be financially harmed by the deployment of computerized art generators, of course, but that's basically exhibit # 211587 of why capitalism may not be the best way to organize society and/or something like an unconditional basic income might be a good idea (if you value artists being able to live off just doing art, the state of artists in the status quo is already a pretty good exhibit for that; we already live in a world where most artists need to have "day jobs" if they don't want to live in poverty).
Admittedly, I might be more personally anxious about this if I was a visual artist rather than a writer; computers can produce credible visual art but IIRC are a lot farther from being able to produce a normal-ish novel.
the fact that the technology to produce technically competent illustrations in fairly derivative styles is getting memed as "successfully automating all art" strikes me as, more than anything else, just a really sad picture of what people think art is
