Alastor is letting her off kindly, atleast in his way. He may be pissed off she brought a shark gang to the hotel and put it on fire, but they were still close friends. With anyone else he would absolutely either murder them or have severely traumatized the person. She's the exception, although I don't think he'd let it off the hook so easily if there were a next time.

(This is gonna be messy asf) He wants to know who she is as a person. He always has, and that's definitely obvious, but from a person inside this, they may not know themselves what the other is thinking. To Charlie it was like he never cared and just wanted an excuse to not see her again, acting like he was truly busy as in the start where he made the rubber duck that breathed fire. Sure. But Charlie saw it as him finding ways to not interact with her again. The only times they talk was when it was related to business stuff or other things of the sort. Let me just say this song... is by far my favorite, including the episode. Sure, it's got problems it's own, but this extremely accurate portrayal of what my own situation with one of my parents just stole my entire soul. Yeah I got a bit of tears about to come out, BUT NOPE! NOT TODAY! I don't ever cry during shows or movies so if I ever get teary-eyed, YOU DID SOMETHING. THAT SOMETHING BEING GOOD. This episode was emotional and connected with me on a deep level that I dont think any film has ever done to me, which is weird because I've been actively trying to find one, any one that does. Then to find it in an indie company from a creator who has achieved the dreams that I myself want to one day? That's fucking amazing.

Found family anime recommendation list

I've been thinking about making this rec list for a while because found family is my absolute favorite trope, so this is really self indulging haha 🤭

these are just some of my personal favorites, but if you guys have more recommendations please add them!

(This list contains spoilers!)

1. Dororo- absolutely heartbreaking and beautiful. the two main characters, Dororo and Hyakkimaru, develop such a special and precious bond throughout the story, and what makes it even more interesting is that at the beginning, Hyakkimaru is not able to see, hear, or really communicate with Dororo, and he gets those abilities slowly throughout the story (through killing demons haha yes it's that kind of story), so it makes the development of their relationship really unique. Both of them don't have their actual families for different reasons, but I absolutely LOVE the familial relationship they develop!

2. spy x amily - everyone's new favorite family lol. I don't think I need to elaborate, I love the little family they've built. it's so cute how all three of them have their own selfish reasons to want to keep this family unit, but at the same time care so deeply (and obliviously) for each other, I love it! there's not a single character I dislike, there wasn't a single episode i was bored watching (so far). it's like the perfect found family - they found each other, and just created a family instantly haha. If for any reason you're still not watching this, you really really should

3. banana fish - ugh honestly it's hard to find words for this one, it's so so SO good, but also, watch at your own risk, it's been years and my heart still hasn't recovered. The relationship between the two main characters, Ash and Eiji, is so beautiful and touching and tender, and it's so satisfying to watch. Ash deserves all the love omg 😭 I love how they take care of each other, how it's obvious to everyone how much they love each other. and i hate how it ended but that's a talk for another time...

4. Run with the wind - ok so i think most sports anime have an aspect of found family - your teammates become kinda your family, and friendships and bonds are usually the main focus. but i think it's especially highlighted in run with the wind - it's a show about running a marathon, and it's in a university setting (which already makes it more interesting lol). i LOVE connections between the characters. here as well, there's not a single character i dislike. even king who i didn't really care about in the beginning, I grew to love so much by the end. and Haiji might be my favorite character of all times. like throughout all platforms, he's my favorite. he created this team and he made them a family and i just wish i had a haiji in my life, you know? 😭

5. march comes in like a lion - ok, so, this one is especially precious to me, and i think it's my favorite anime of all times. officially, the show is about a boy who plays shogi professionally, and it is a part of it, but there's so much more to this anime. I've never watched anything that handled depression, and the journey of getting better, in a more accurate way than this show. the main character, Rei, is an orphan, and has a really complicated life story. he meets these three sisters, and is kinda invited to be a part of their little family. the relationships in this show are so touching and tender, even when nothing sad was happening i found myself crying. the sisters basically adopt rei, and little by little help him heal some of his wounds. the visuals of this show are perfect, you can feel everything rei is feeling. the sisters' house feels warm and inviting, while other spaces feel cold and disconnected. it's brilliant. also, the show handles the different characters with so much care, you end up caring about them all. i can go on forever lol, it's a masterpiece.

6. kids on the slope - another brilliant show. this is a slice of life, and the focus is on the friendship of three teens in the 60's. i love this one because even though they all have families that play a part in the story, they still become like a family to one another. their relationships are so touching, and so realistic. it deals with jealousy and friendship and love and loneliness in such a realistic, relatable way. for example one of the boys gets really jealous when his friend gets a new friend, it makes him lash out in such an unreasonable way, but at the same time you can totally relate to what he's feeling, because like, which one of us hasn't been there, right? i really recommend! (Also, the music is absolutely fantastic!)

7. Umibe no Etranger- maybe some people would think this doesn't belong here, but i totally think that along with love, this movie is totally about found family 😊 the two main boys are both on their own, Mio because he was orphaned, and Shun because he lost connection with his family after coming out. throughout the story, they become each other's family and support system (especially if you keep reading the manga like i have hehe🤭). i love their relationship so much!

8. fruits basket - again, maybe it's not the main trope, but it's definitely very much there! tohru, who is left without a family, finds a new family in the form of the very dysfunctional sohma family, that cares about her immensely, while she also cares about them and helps them heal and break their curse. i never read the manga or watched the old anime, and i didn't expect this to be as deep and painful as it was, but honestly one of my favorite shows right now.

9. Poko's udon world - so! freaking! cute! is it a ploy to make people have families and kids? perhaps. do i care? nope. Poko is the cutest child character ever, and the parent-child relationship between sota and poco is so precious, this is the most literal definition of a found family lol- sota found poco and basically instantly adopted him. the story is really touching and cute!

10. Clannad + Clannad after story - ugh i don't know if I'm able to talk about this one again, as it makes my heart hurt. this is one of my all time favorites. i think even though it's a love story, above all else it's a story about family. i wasn't sure if it fits the "found family" category but decided it does. even before nagisa and tomoya get married, tomoya is basically adopted by nagisa's family. they take him in to allow him some distance from his father, and show him how happy and loving a family can be. Also, all the friendship in the story are meaningful and have a familial feel to them. throughout the show there's a lot of focus on the subject of family, which leads to the main characters creating their own new little family unit. if you've been living under a rock i must warn you, I've never cried this much while watching a show in my life. while the ending is a happy one (well... in a bizarre kind of way, i guess), there's so much pain throughout the whole show, it's overwhelming at times. still, it's so so good and i really recommend to give it a try! (please, get through the first season and get to Clannad after story, it's really worth it!)

11. Usagi drop- i also wasn't sure if this fits the found family category, as it deals with an actual family, but wth, it's my list i can do what i want lol. very sweet story about a guy who adopts his grandfather's 6 year old daughter when he dies (yes, his aunt, basically), when no one else in the family wants to take her in. it's very sweet, very touching. they slowly become a family, and he learns what it means to be a single parent, and what sacrifices he has to make (like getting demoted at his job so he'll have more time to take care of his kid). the show is very wholesome, but don't read the manga, as i heard it went in different, less wholesome directions.

12. kotaro lives alone- this show was a ride! i was expecting a silly show about a 4 year old boy who lives alone, and got a heartbreaking show about neglect and trauma. his neighbors become his family throughout the show, and come to love him a lot and take care of him, and their relationships are very entertaining and sweet. ngl, i cried a lot during this show. i do think it deals with some very triggering things, so you should check that before watching 😊

Spider-man x Batfam Prompt's

Ok so lately I have seen a lot of "Spidy goes to gotham and gets adopted fics" probably cause of Dark Matter by mysterycyclone cause like, duh, that fic is a goddamn masterpiece. But I feel like a lot of them are sort of the same thing with diffrent fonts ans it feels a bit saturated. Not all of them...but most of them.

Am I saying that there needs to be less of these fics? Hell no! Keep writing them please. I just feel like there could be more variety is all.

I suggest maybe try one of these ideas out

1: Peter going straight to the Batfam or other heros (dosent always have to be Batfam) and they try to work together on how to get him home, while slowly realizing "omg, your life is terrible! We want to help you, we do, but maybe we shouldnt and try to give you a better life here. Then its just a moral delema on what to do as they get to know the spider child.

2: maybe another Spider-man is the one that goes to Hotham like Andrew or Toby. Insted of being sent home at the end of NWH, they where accidentally sent to the DCU. Or maybe one of the Spider verse characters or a cartoon version of the character. Dosent always need to be Toms Spider-man.

3: on that same note. Please give more love to What If...Zombies Peter. You guys have no Idea the amount of angst and "haha, my world ended and im fine" potental there is. And you can have the other surviving member also be there as they look for eachother (characters that "survived* (no one survived that episode) are Peter, King T'challa, Scott Lang+cape, and Ig Bruce Baner/Hulk, and Bucky Barnes since we never saw them get turned or eaten) just think about Spidey and the Batfam investigating a lab or sometbing and all of a sudden they find floating head Scott in a crate. Everyone if scared shitless while Peter is crying tires of joy as he moves to hug the floating head. Think about that and tell me Im not on to something here.

4: Have the fic start our like halfway through. Maybe skip him getting to Gotham and have him be there for a few months already or something. This will help with adding more crack fics.

5: Maybe have the fic be that Peter is there for a while, he knows everyone, they know him, they might or might not know the identitys but they trust eachother. And Peter has been looking for a way home and he finally finds it! But... he accidentally brings some of the Batfam with him. So now its the Batfams turn to learn to live in the MCU with help of Spidy and they finally understand so much about him, how he lived, and vigilanties he knows (team red!) As they learn the history and pubilc opinion or Spider-man and the world.

6: Just a react to fic. Yk, those fics where they're stuffed in a room and forced to watch something? Yeah. Have the Dark Matter cast stuffed in a room and watch some MCU clips. It dosent even have to be some magic forth wall bull shit if you dont like that. In chapter 44, Peter and co. are said to be going back to the cave, and Peter still have is suit. Canonically, Karen records everything. Maybe Peter ends up so tired he dosent even want to try to explain everything. So he just hooks up Karen to the computer and and has her show them everything from the suits recordings to security cameras and news reports, to the memes and videos spiderman fans have made.

7: have the Justice League get involed cause "Hes to bright to be one of yours Bruce!" And have him be a honorary member of the league of have them put him on Young Justice. Peter gets adopted by Batfam? Yes. Peter becomeing Bffs with the Young Justice kids and actually forming normal relationships with kids his age? Also yes.

Do I have more? Probably but Im too lazy for it rn

-your birthday is coming up, and the four of them have decided separately that they want to get you one of the new limited edition Sanrio plushies. Coincidentally, they met in front of the store before it opened

-realizing they all had the same idea, they come up with a new plan together. They decide they're not only going to get you a plushie of your favourite character, but instead, they want to get all of the plushies released in this series

-they already know it's gonna be hell to actually get all of the plushies because people are already waiting to get into the store although it's an hour before opening time

-their new plan is that each of them will get two plushies. Noa will get Hello Kitty and Cinnamoroll, Chris will get MyMelody and Kuromi, Lavinho will get Pompompurin and Pochacco and Snuffy will get Batz-Maru and Keroppi (A/N: If your favourite character isn't in this, replace any character with your fav!)

-there are so many other people trying to get into the store right as it opens, there's no way the coaches can get in first so each of them is trying to come up with a strategy on how they can get to the plushies quickly

-sure, all four of them can run much faster than the average person, but if there's a crowd even that won't help them much

-as soon as the store opens, it's just pure chaos and they forget about their plans. They try to get to the plushie section as quickly as possible

-Chris gets stopped midway by fans and starts taking photos with them. Then more and more fans approach him and ask for photos, and he totally forgets about the plushies

-after like 10 minutes he suddenly remembers he's actually on a mission so in the middle of a photo he runs away and tries to get to the plushie section as quick as possible

-Lavinho thinks he figured out a way to get to the plushie section quicker, but then he ends up at the opposite side of the store and has to walk all the way back

-then he sees one of those security worker uniforms somewhere and he gets a silly idea and puts it on to pretend he works there so he can get to the plushies quicker

-Snuffy sees a child who lost their parents so he helps the kid get back to them before he continues his task to get the plushies

-but then Snuffy gets stuck in a conversation with the child's parents because they're super chatty and don't stop thanking him for getting their child back. Then they continue talking and talking and Snuffy can't get away because he doesn't want to seem impolite

-Noa was literally the only one who didn't get stopped in any way so when the others arrive at the plushie section he already got all of them. Not only the ones he was supposed to get, but he also got all eight plushies

i would ABSOLUTELY love to hear more about how you use colours for this blog i love your art

(( omg i missed this one when i was answering all those munday posts, so i'm sorry about that--but, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! <3

it's kind of hard to describe i think without going into full tutorial mode, but i can try and walk through my process!! i WILL say i got a lot of my methodology from other artists and guides throughout the years, which is the most important part of any art process! (i wish i had links to specific tutorials, but alas, social media sucks for archiving)

now, before i go any further, i'm in no way a professional. this isn't the "right" way to do things, and i certainly don't think i'm better than anyone else at this!! this is just how i do it, and my method makes me happy, so! that's what matters most!

i'm putting the rest beneath a cut, but i've documented my process for designing the palette for a new group of pokemon characters i'm working on! ))

with regards to colour palettes, the two most important things to me are contrast and unity. i'll explain both as i go!

when working on palettes i'll do a fairly quick doodle of the characters together, and then fill in their colours and markings on separate layers. i try not to put much thought into the actual swatches right now--they just need to be distinguishable!

Pesky and Baron already had their colours tweaked to match each other, but Lily and Frog (not their actual name i just haven't come up with one yet LOL) have not been. as a group, their colours look fine together, but we can bring them even closer.

i'll start with Frog (who i got as an adopt from @psychicduo <3)--i LOVE their palette, but it's darker than i normally work with, so i'm gonna brighten them up a bit.

in order to bring some colours closer together (unity!), i changed the hue value on the dark teal so it matched the hue on Baron's light blue. i don't want to change Frog's colours too much, but i applied similar changes to every other colour except the beige and the off-white (which are the same).

here's where contrast comes into play. i will say, i'm extremely anal about this in my own work, but having low contrast is not necessarily a bad thing! it's easy to visualize contrast in hue, but it's important to consider how your values and saturation may look to other people, especially for accessibility reasons. an easy way to do this is to view the colours in greyscale.

as you can see, the values of these two colours are too close, and therefore difficult to distinguish. i can fix this by making one of the colours a little lighter or darker. for now, though, i'm going to move on to the other characters.

this one's straightforward! instead of having multiple, very similar shades of yellow, i'm going to change Lily's body colour to be the same swatch as the yellow on Pesky (which is also the same one on Baron).

now, i feel as though Pesky's blue, being closer to purple, doesn't really look right next to Frog's blue-greens. i'm going to employ a trick i frequently use--the hue/saturation/luminosity sliders.

a bit more tweaking, and i have a colour that looks MUCH nicer next to the others!

at this stage, i'll admit that i'm not sure if i'm totally happy with that colour for Pesky; there are times i'll spend hours tweaking colours for one character. but, for the sake of this post i'll move along.

so here i have a choice to make: the darkest colours on all four characters can be unified better, and i have many options for how i can do that (and i should try all of them, to see what looks best to me). i can make Pesky's navy the same colour as Frog's, or vice versa; i can make Lily's purple the same colour as Baron's (in order to make the contrast between Pesky and Lily's purple better); but there's one more trick i like to do that i haven't shown yet.

do you have two similar colours, but you don't want to make one lighter or darker? blend them together!

so, using the techniques above--bringing the colours closer together, and checking the contrast between them--i'll keep tweaking all four characters, until i have a result i'm happy with. (note: most of the time, i'll make exceptions for the insides of their mouths and their eye colours--those can be whatever!)

one more thing! i love having an art program that lets me compare my current colour with my new one, especially if i have a particular swatch i do not want to change! photoshop does this, clip does this, procreate does this... not sure what others, but i'm using clip.

some additional tweaking, and here's the newest draft!

it's very likely i'll go back and make more changes, but for now, it's good to take a break so i can come back to this with fresh eyes later. :D

unfortunately i can't go back and show the exact process for picking the palettes for ask-meowscarada, but i can show you how some of these techniques were applied!

these rules don't just apply to character palettes, either--here's a commission i did last year, complete with the palette i used for both the character and the background!

Black horns Sienna is fucking batman. She took one look at traumatized adam and immediately projects her trauma and adopts him no questions. And like I already have suspicions for her interactions with ilia lmao. I really like this facet of your characterization of her, where she deeply cares about children and the most vulnerable of the faunus. It pairs with the Great Fire from the last chapter where I get early insight about her cause for the white fang, where she knows the white fang's means of peaceful protests and general existences are met with execution. Ghira doesn't seem to know the extent of what she saw and been through so he's panicking at the world ready to enact violence on the movement. To her, the movement has long since been thrown to the wolves lol. Sienna is so compelling, I can only imagine how nuts it'll be when she dethrones him chapters later.

ok calm down OP basically how I wanted to show it was that. Sienna went into this mission with a lot of confidence. She had nothing to lose and even when she’s fighting those guards she lets a guard go off running. But when she sees Adam?

It’s like a switch is flipped. Sienna not only sees almost every bit of inhumane, cruel suffering experienced by her people all put on one boy, so much so that she still “only knew half the story” (a line which will be. VERY relevant in a few chapters), but she sees a chance to try again and save a child, a little boy, after she lost her own ten years earlier. And after that, all that original confidence practically leaves her; and all there can be is rage.

Sienna is such a fucking interesting character to write, just as all the other silly little peeps will be as the fic goes on. And yes on that last thing. Sienna has only known Adam for 3 seconds and if anything else happened to him she would kill everyone in the room and then herself.

i am going to put this under a read more because i know it’s going to get long! also disclaimer i am Not a casual watcher of danny phantom i have seen every episode several times you have been warned 🫡

FIRST AND FOREMOST I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO THE PEOPLE FOR NOT EVEN ATTEMPTING TO CAST EL IN THIS AU AND NOT EVEN REALIZING IT UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER. yes you can come to my house w pitchforks it is what i deserve!

el would be danny’s “cousin” dani, and if you are unfamiliar — she is literally an experiment/attempted clone of danny (will, in this case) himself created by vlad, who i would probably cast as brenner or split storylines between brenner and henry, potentially brenner and owens? like i said in my first ask, it’s hard because there are more st characters than there are dp, so there’s no way to really neatly assign everything!

i hesitate on the henry/vlad casting because although vlad is essentially the Big Bad of the series (especially in season 3), there are a lot of other really cool villains — specifically pariah dark, who is The Ghost King, uses a puppet general (fight knight/mind flayer parallels), and is one of (if not the) Big Battles of the show. there’s also dark danny, and it could be flayed!will, but there’s also an opportunity to make him henry bc of Foils, Your Honor! any input on this from anyone (even other dp villains that could work) would be so fun!

so, to recap and try give Some semblance of a plot:

will is danny! he got lost in the ghost zone as an accident and ended up with half-ghost powers. lucas, dustin, and mike tried to find him and got into amateur ghost hunting/fighting as a result, and they become a little ghost-crime fighting team (they Absolutely refer to themselves as the ghostbusters in their circle and everyone just thinks they’re nerds, which is true). lucas and dustin share the tucker role and mike takes on most of the sam role (i say Most Of bc upon further reflection - i think lucas and mike might share sam too)! el is an experiment meant to replicate will’s powers, brenner/owens orchestrated that, and max comes in adopting most of what valerie’s arcs would be. i think it would be cool to have billy be a ghost or ghost-obsessed and have max’s hatred for them be because of that!

family dynamics would be the same as to how they are in st. in dp terms, there is no jack fenton, but joyce and jonathan share maddie characteristics! erica of course would just be there as an addition bc she’s the best, and jazz’s role would be repurposed for nancy, with the only difference being that she’s part of mike’s family obviously instead of will’s!

plot wise i would just. take my fave danny phantom eps and rework them to fit what i wanted (me acting like i’m going to write this). definitely would include the “movie length” episodes like reign storm and reality trip, potentially the ultimate enemy depending on who henry ends up being — and obviously just flesh everything out.

It was *so* satisfying to see Din now having a home base. Not a ship, a *home.* We haven't TRULY seen him relax EVER in this show. I thought it was so sweet that he had a place where he could put his feet up for once and just watch his kid/apprentice play. That really was the thing that got me, finally seeing such a strong, stoic character finally able to relax, sit back, and enjoy himself for a while. What better way to do so than by putting your feet up and watching your kid play? It's such a good feeling to see one of my favorite characters at last having a moment of true peace.

And that leaves it open for more adventures, no crazy cliff hanger that makes us wait impatiently for like a year or two, just relaxation and peace for once, just thinking that Din and Grogu are somewhere out there chilling :')

So they get to chill out until the next season which is a good feeling I cried my face off seeing the two of them relaxing I KNOW I KEEP SAYING "oh they're relaxing they're relaxing finally peace omg relaxation" BUT IT'S TRUE. DIN'S ALWAYS FIGHTING HIS ASS OFF BRO HE DESERVES A BREAK

So yeah I could NOT be happier with the ending of this season. The season OVERALL was pretty boring, so I'm disapponted about that, but the last two episodes were *chef's kiss*

I’m one needy ass individual so I appreciate the clingy-ness hehe. I know! I can’t believe it’s March. And that I’m going to be 22 this year. And that it’s going to be summer soon. 19. What is something they excel at?

Mihri is a very quick learner! She can pick up new skills easily and is a knowledge sponge. This certainly helps when you’re a Dalish elf largely unfamiliar with Andrastianism but now finding yourself as a religious figure. Along that train of thought, she excels at just… faking it ’til you make it. People doubt you less when you’re stupidly overconfident about everything.

29. They have a chance to get a tattoo: what would it be?

Botanical illustrations, probably something like arbor blessing snaked around her upper arm. I was originally thinking of a fun little fat toad tattoo when I was typing this out, and I found this wizard frog by Leah Samuels instead. This is definitely something Mihri would love.

42. Let them vent for a second, without the fear of being judged. What would they like to say?

Hah! I think she’d probably just vent at me. I typically enjoy fluffier fic, and the Inquisitor’s story is already angsty enough, so I had originally intended to just write happy things. Over time, her story has become a lot angstier, likely due to my own mental health, if I’m being honest. I had started her out as an only child, but I adopted a friend’s OC. Happy progress! …And then I promptly killed him off in my universe. She really did start out a lot happier, once upon a time. I’m gonna have to drag her into DA4 kicking and screaming.

2. Give them a warm drink of your choice, what would it be? Would their choice differ from yours?

I would give her hot chocolate, maybe some of the salted caramel kind that I have in the cabinet right now. She would choose a fruity tea, like a blueberry. Or the lemon pound cake tazo tea I have in there as well.

11. What is an item of clothing/an accessory that completes them/makes them feel safe?

Oh, I actually had to stop and think about this one. Perhaps it’s because I’m not so fashion forward (I do love looking at haute couture for fun, but I live my life in t-shirts and shorts/leggings), but I hadn’t given much thought to how she might dress off-duty. She isn’t very materialistic; I don’t think she has a piece of clothing or even an accessory that she wears that truly completes her. She doesn’t have any sentimental items to wear; she left Mindoir with nothing. It isn’t a direct answer, but her pre-ME2 tattoos are what complete/comfort her. She has a sprawling strawberry vine on her left shoulder blade in memory of her parents. Finding it gone in ME2 is a big stressor (among everything else going on…) and Joker encourages her to get it redone when they have the time.

14. Quickly, let them give us some life advice!

I don’t know that it exactly answers the question (round 2 haha), but this is the first thing that came to mind when I read this question, so here you go! It’s hard to imagine what the state of healthcare and mental healthcare is going to be in the 2180s, but I do figure that a lot of people are going to be struggling post-Reaper War. Lia would be a big advocate for seeking help, talking to someone. It’s rough out there—don’t be afraid to reach out, ok?

3. What is something they really like about themselves and what is something you really like about them?

Ugh man, I should really talk about someone other than Mihri, but I’m gonna answer it for her anyway. This also got away from me a bit. Whoops! First off, she usually skirts around answering the tough/serious questions most of the time, so she would answer this superficially. She isn’t insecure about her looks in the slightest and is aware of the fact that it’s easier for her to get her way because she’s attractive. So she loves that about herself. She’s just a smol little thing—isn’t she so cute? You’d do anything for her, wouldn’t you? Seriously, though, she loves being a mage and using that gift to help others. It doesn’t matter if that help is something big, like healing, or whether it’s embellishing children’s stories with little bits of magic. Her mother taught her to be proud of her magic, and she very much is! For me, I love her adaptability and perception. She’s great at gauging situations and reading the room and knowing how to react or interact with others. She often prefers to cope (or rather, deflect…) with humor and can be accused of not taking things seriously because of that. But she isn’t oblivious—she knows when her sarcasm or jokes would be welcomed and when they would not, when a joke would appropriately lighten the mood and when it would be a disaster. I also love that she’s a fucking liar, right down to her little core, but that she uses this to try to do good. One of the things that stuck out to me when I did my first playthrough with her was a side interaction at the base camp at the beginning of What Pride Has Wrought. There’s a soldier praying and reciting part of the Chant, and the “diplomatic”-type response from the Inquisitor is to finish that part of the chant for them—regardless of your origin (note: it may hinge on whether or not you accepted being the Herald of Andraste; I don’t remember a lot of those choices I made the first go-round!). At first it was one of those dialogue choices where I was like “oh, if I’d known she’d say that, I wouldn’t have chosen it.” But over time, I think it fits. Mihri doesn’t believe in Andraste, but to call back to the first question, she is a quick learner and has a great memory. She learns bits of the Chant to blend in and look like the Herald. The side benefits are that this boosts morale among the troops.

oh I LOVE having my brain picked! Long story short, I liked writing from a young age and have always had a personality where I would become easily obsessed with certain interests. When I was heavily fixated on the Harry Potter franchise, I would read a lot of fan fiction about it, and eventually, I ended up writing my own (I never finished it lol). I only recently got into anime and quickly became obsessed with it, so my imagination was running wild with fantasies and scenarios. I got back into reading fan fiction and eventually decided that I should put my imagination into something tangible that I could look back on for myself. When I found out that people were actually reading what I wrote and liked it, it encouraged me more to continue! It's been a fun hobby that I've adopted into my regular life. :)

I highly recommend just going for it! For me, it's been therapeutic in a way. It's a nice, temporary escape from my regular life. There's so much that I can't control in reality, but in the stories I create, I can do whatever I want. It's one of the few things in life that I CAN control, which gives me an odd sense of peace. I can already tell that you have such a beautiful way with words, so if you ever decide to truly go for it, just know that you have me to support you completely. 💗

I am still reeling from the aot finale (I just watched it last night). I can't believe it's over!! I will be coping by reading fics hehe.

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare My rating: 3 of 5 stars So I enjoyed Clockwork Prince far more than Clockwork Angel. The book isn’t very plot-heavy and way more character-focused, but I’m not mad about it. I enjoy reading about them even though I don’t particularly love them all. (Seriously though, like Mortmain doesn't show up through the whole book, and it's mainly the characters going from place to place and just learning some information.) So Clockwork Prince starts with a Council meeting where Charlotte and the company get charged with finding Mortmain in two weeks because Benedict is a sexist dill hole. So they start looking into Mortmain’s background to try and learn more about him and where he came from and yada yada. We learn that warlocks adopted Mortmain and Shadowhunters killed them for some reason. It was mentioned why but I’m just blanking on it rn. But anywho, Mortmain wants revenge and like I feel for him. That would suck to see your parents get murdered and get no recompense for it. But also like, lol at his plan being like I am going to create a super special warlock bride and then marry her, make her change into my adoptive warlock father who will give me the special spell to bind demon energies to my robot army and then I’m going to kill all the shadow hunters. Like it’s honestly wild to me that CC came up with that and managed to turn it into three books. Good for her. Tessa and Jem have been paling around since the last book’s events and have grown closer and closer. They are precious, and I love them as smitten friends. Will is an idiot for not seeing the way Jem feels because it was obvious from CA that Jem was in love with Tessa. Tell me I’m wrong. And his reaction upon finding out they’re engaged is ridonk. ‘If you loved me, you would let me have her!!!!’ I know he doesn’t say it, but omg Will. We learn why Will has been a giant dildo on the planet for the last five years. When he was a child, he found a Pyxis box in his dad’s study, opened it and then a demon popped out, stabbed his sister with his poisonous tail, and then fake cursed Will that anyone who loved him would die. The next day his sister dies looking all monstrous and stuff. So naturally, Will’s first thought was to run away from home and be a total dick for the rest of his life instead of like…trying to use the Institute’s resources and connections with warlocks to find a cure five years ago. But like to be fair, he was like…what 12? I feel like I’m getting the amount of time wrong…was it seven years? Idk it was a span of years. And then, of all things, a pretty super special girl is the thing to change his mind and make him finally seek out some help. But, like, backing up a bit, here’s my question. Why didn’t Will’s parents…question the way the daughter died? Or did they and Will just ran away before he heard about it? Why did Will’s dad have the demon in his study anyway? Like why didn’t he give it back to the institute? I understand keeping a seraph blade in case a demon attacks, but why keep a DEMON? Why did Will not think to ask his dad about the demon? Like his parents already loved him, they weren’t just going to stop, lmao. Sorry, I’m venting. AND ANOTHER THING!!! Magnus could quickly call Marbas on this lie that he didn’t curse Will. Why didn’t he figure that out when Will told him the story? Like Magnus isn’t stupid, and he’s well aware people love Will. If he was clever enough to figure it out after Marbas talked about it, why couldn’t he figure it out when Will told him the story? The only difference was he learned how long Marbas was in the Pyxis, but I mean, it could’ve stood to reason he was in that thing for a long time without Marbas even needing to tell them. I’m sorry. Why am I like this? So Will’s trying to remove his curse, and somewhere in this time, they go to Yorkshire and Jem and Tessa pretend to be engaged. *foreshadowing* They go to see Aloysius Starkweather, and I couldn’t stop thinking of Argus Filch/Walder Frey. He’s extra gross, has a spoils collection of gnarly warlock remains, and naturally, Tessa faints because she’s a LADY. They go to visit the house that Mortmain was said to have owned, and Will sees his sister there, freaks out and decides to do some drugs. While Tessa and Jem are wondering where he is, they search WIll’s room, and she finds that Will kept her letters that she’d written to her brother while in the Dark house and like I’m annoyed because those letters made me want to hear about her time there. It would’ve made me connect with Tessa far more to experience that shit with her, but then I guess this is meant to be YA, and it might’ve been too heavy. Idk I like my gore. They find Will in an ifrit den high on yin fen, aka the drug Jem requires to live. I found this super insensitive of him, honestly. Like yeah, I know he was super upset and just looking for release, but why wouldn’t he get drunk like he’s always pretending to be? Why would he go to do the drugs that he is well aware is killing his best friend and is super addicting? Idk it just reads as messed up to me. And then they’re all mad at him for approximately two days before all is forgiven. Honestly, Jem and Will should also be in love. I feel this story was CC’s warm-up to the throuple she writes in TDA. I wish it just ended up being a throuple here, lmao. Like Tessa, lemme make out with Jem and then also Will and keep it a secret from everyone. OR just all three of you date. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Problem solved. The parabatai ceremony is a marriage ceremony anyway. I got a kick out of reading about Jessamine’s betrayal, although I think it was a misuse of her character. I believe Jessamine had much potential, but in the end, she went right back to Nate, knowing what kind of person he was and what he tried to do to her. It doesn’t make sense to me. She was so pissed about Nate’s betrayal, and now she wants to marry him and betray the people who helped raise her? We don’t get much insight into her as a character, but I think that much more could have been done with her. Benedict Lightwood likes to bone demon ladies, which is weird when many of the demons in the first few books have been like gelatinous creatures with insect body parts. The only humanoid I remember being mentioned was Lilith, who also had snakes coming out of her eyes. Is the demon licking Benedict’s face Lilith right now? Also, why would he keep boning demon ladies if he knows they’re giving him a demon std that will turn him into a demon? Like? Does not compute. Also, before the cannibalism debacle, I always used to picture Armie Hammer as Gideon, making this reread a lil weird. I like Sophie and Gideon together, however. Oh, that was another thing I wanted to mention. Tessa is making out with Jem when she knows Sophie is in love with her upsets me personally. I’ve had so many friends do that to me that I feel anger on behalf of Sophie. You tell your pal that you think someone is cute or you have a big crush on them, and the next thing you know, your friend is over there making out with the person you’re into. Like, um, wow, never trusting you again. So, sorry, Sophie, I’m glad Gideon’s over here being the man you need. And then when Sophie tells Tessa she’s not mad at her, she’s immediately like, OH DO YOU LIKE CYRIL THEN? Why does she only think Sophie would like the servants lmao? Like no, Tessa, She’s dating Gideon, but it’s also NOT YOUR BUSINESS TESSA. Also, Tessa’s reaction when she finds out Sophie likes Gideon is gross. “Can you really see him going to his father and saying he wants to marry a parlor maid???” Like, suck a dick, Tessa. I loved seeing Hyacinth again. I am a big fan of faeries and remember liking how CC writes them a lot. (We’ll see if that’s still true when I reread the books where they’re featured more, but so far, it’s still true) I love how they’re such confusing little aholes. Like Hyacinth gives Tessa a super obvious clue about who she really is but then erases it with one comment. I love it. Because while Tessa isn’t a faerie changeling, she was still swapped in the manner of changelings. I thought that was a pretty clever bit of foreshadowing. Finally, Magnus called a Shadowhunter out on their aversion to magic. YER RUNES ARE BASICALLY MAGIC. So the whole Magnus and Camille relationship. Truthfully, I didn’t get it at all. Magnus does not seem the kind of person who would be into someone so seemingly detached. At the same time, I think it’s silly of him to expect monogamy when both he and Camille will live forever. Like what she says makes sense to me, but she says it in the rudest way possible. It’s essentially just like a centuries-long open relationship, Magnus. What’s the problem? As long as all parties are consenting, that sounds like a great time to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, the idea of Magnus sitting around waiting for anyone is strange to me, but I guess this is at a different point in his life, so he’s not the same Magnus we learned in TMI. I imagine he would’ve gone searching for her himself or something. OR just been like, all right, fine, you don’t want me? Byeeeee. His sitting around hoping she might apologize to him and ask her to love him again is so weirdly out of character, imo. But like I said, this is hundreds of years before TMI, so I’m willing to be forgiving if this is meant to show how he became the way he is now or something, lmao. Then again, he was doing way too much to impress Alec in TRSOM. Also, lying about kissing Will was not so cool. But whatever, I guess. Stupid question. Is Idris pronounced like Idris Elba or like eye-dris? In regards to Tessa’s shapeshifting ability. I have some questions. So, we know she has to be holding an item that belonged to someone to shift into that person and like be able to hear their thoughts or whatever, but here’s my question. Can Tessa only change into someone else? Or can she make up her own features and shift into that? Can she change into a completely new person? She talks about doing it but never actually does it, so I’m wondering if it’s possible. If she’s part Eidolon, it looked like they were able to shift into whatever they wanted, so shouldn’t Tessa be able to too? Can she change into an animal? Or just people? Also, since she’s technically a warlock, can she do actual magic or just shapeshift? Someone mentioned that one of the annoying things about this book is that in between everything that happens, there are drawn-out scenes explaining Tessa getting dressed, how Sophie does her hair, etc. And while I understand that it’s probably accurate to the time, it’s not necessary for this story. I get it; it’s more character-driven than plot-driven, and CC needed filler chapters. But oh my god, do I not care. I imagine Henry as an Alan Tudyk-type character with crazy red hair. The whole scene where Nate is like holding Tessa is so hard to imagine. One hand/forearm is across her throat, and another is gripping her chin, but his waistcoat buttons are digging into her back. Why doesn’t she elbow him in the gut and run away?? Nothing is holding her arms down. I know she kicks him in the kneecap, but I feel like elbowing him would’ve been more accessible. Also, the whole reveal about Nate not being Tessa’s brother isn’t shocking, considering it was just done in TMI. Stop recycling plot points CC. Also, he killed his real mom because she was a ‘whore’. Because having sex before marriage is so terrible. God shut up, Nate. Like damn, he deserved to die. Would blood really be dripping off his face from some nail scratches? I think not. This story ends kind in a neat happy little bow. Which is weird. Because like who gets engaged when they’re being hunted by an evil little manlet bent on destroying all of the Shadowhunters?
