So, who are you? For them to actually even care about your existence, you would either have to be a part of the troupe or be someone they know way back from Meteor City, I highly doubt they would go heart eyes over some really stunning person they ran into on a mission or so, because looks aren't everything, right? Who would fall for your first? I'm honestly tied between Phinks and Shalnark, for Feitan it would take like 2 billion years for his crush to kick in since he isn't in tune with his more softer emotions (yet), Shalnark to me is.... odd... he seems like the type to fall for someone oh so easy but dude is like, the personified version of "don't judge a book by its cover," and the only thing Phinks got going for him is..... anger issues, so I'd go with Phinks on this one! of course when people (troupe members) ask him about his affections towards you, he denies them with the most obvious blush on his face, his infatuation isn't exactly that obvious but there are some hints like him wanting to be next to you more or even the two of you hanging out on your off days! next on the list: Shalnark, so how exactly would he fall for you? well, he'd probably get paired up with you more on missions and when he starts to hang out with you more he starts to feel himself grow fond of you more, and it slowly grows into a crush! kind of simple really. And finally after those 2 billion years are up, Feitan is up next! Everyone has this collective idea that if he realizes he has a crush on you, he'd do the opposite of his two counterparts; he'd want to avoid you so that the feelings won't grow stronger as he considers it a distraction, he may even contemplate on killing you, which is something I really hate to say since I feel like the idea is slightly far fetched for his character (i'm guilty of saying this myself but i considering the topic of that specific post i wanted to be dramatic) but I can see why people think this, killing you only goes if you aren't a member of the troupe but since you are, he'd have to deal with you, forcing himself to accept the fact as time goes by that he is in love with you, he's confused with his feelings when it comes to you, he isn't used to crushes, no one to him is that special for him to fall for, love is very sacred to him, it's something he and the others mentioned above haven't really experienced, and as it grows, he starts to form a soft spot for you as he gets to know you well, he starts to find parts of you that made him like you to begin with. (ik Feitan's is kinda longer than the others but I'm biased he's my fav).

How would they act around you? This was really hard to do for some reason but I already stated above that Phinks would hang out with you more and would be near you a lot, at first his affections towards you wouldn't be too different to how he acts towards others, for someone like him he's pretty good at hiding his infatuation, though over time he's starting to loose the "I have a crush on Y/N" allegations, the others would tease him a little for how he acts around you, he shows to have more sympathy and affection for you, like he's more handsy with you than everyone else, and is most definitely protective over you, he really is a girly girl, ain't he? Shalnark is a bit more happier when he's in your presence, he opens up with you way more than everyone else (when you two are alone ofc) and plays video games with you, he'll never give you a break and let you win though, he's just too good! (And competitive) May not be as protective as Phinks but he damn sure isn't gonna let you getting injured slide. Feitan once again is an interesting case, since he's come to terms with him being infatuated with you, the signs will be waaaay more subtle than Phinks', you would lowkey be left confused, like something tells you he likes you but you can't exactly prove he does, you're seen with him more often, he talks to you more, but in the beginning that's about it really, but overtime he gets more handsy with you like Phinks but not as much, he would most definitely tease you when he's in a good mood, giving you nicknames and such, and of course, very protective over you.

Confessing & Relationship

Finding out they all like you! When they start to see one of the other become more affectionate towards you, shit starts to get real, a scenario where Feitan sees you and Shalnark playing a newly released game, the both of you are so happy, laughing and all, and Feitan is hiding somewhere and just stares at the both of you, the worst scenarios are running through his mind, are they dating? do they like him? he wants to do something about it but can't because for one troupe members can't fight and two, he sees how happy you are, how can he ruin that? Another scenario is the old fashioned switcheroo where you and Feitan are getting a little too handsy with one another, he's got his hand on your thigh and your hand on his shoulder, Shalnark is now in Feitan's shoes, bad scenarios running through his brain thinking the two of you have a thing for each other, a part of him wants to step in but he can't. It's kind of subtle at first until everything starts to build up, they can see each other's jealousy seeping through, let's say Phinks was the one to save you from an attacker and Feitan wasn't quick enough, a glare is shot at Phinks' way as he sees the way he's holding you and reassuring you, and he catches it, he's confused, what the hell is going on? Another scenario where the troupe is having fun or whatnot and you and Shalnark are laughing about something a little too hard, he spots both Phinks and Feitan seething in jealousy, he's also confused! Until it all hits the three of them; they all like you!

Them finding out..... So, when they finally sit and conversate about the rising tensions between them to solve it, they come to the conclusion that you are the reason why, how will they go about this? They all have a goal in mind; a monogamous relationship with you, they are all trying their absolute hardest not to start anything between them, they were all on good terms until this very incident, they had no idea what to do about this, their own friends are crushing on the same person they want, and the tensions can only grow from here, and beyond this point things can go either north (good) or south (bad) really quickly. From here on out, they challenge themselves to impress you so that one of them finally gets you, an unspoken rule, until they realize that you like all three of them, and things grow extra confusing, they're happy because "yay they like me!" but also mad because "grrr they like him back!!" So everyone involved is kinda like.............. "omg??"

Poly? Small Miscellaneous Things

When they don't receive enough attention. I had an idea 💡

So unmated and pregnant omega!Reader catching poly!alpha!Hawk and Omega!Moon's attention. Reader thinks that since she's pregnant with another alphas pup that no one will want her, so she's trying super hard to work for herself and the unborn pup. Moon meets her one day and realizes that she just smells like a pup and omega, but no alpha and thinks she might have lost her alpha. But they simply left her, never mated with her and threw her to the wayside when she wound up pregnant.

Maybe Reader works at a clothing store and is helping Moon try on some clothes. She isn't showing yet, her chubby body hiding whatever bump she may have, but everyone can smell the pup on her. She smells so sweet and fragrant, the scent of the pup intermingled with her own. Moon asks a ton of questions, always excited about pups because of her midwife work and whatnot. She's eager to talk about it as Reader zips up a pretty dress for her. Reader doesn't say much at first, but the more Moon is at the shop, the more open she becomes. Eventually telling Moon about her the alpha that knocked her up left her, and Moon's heart breaks for the other omega. She's so upset that an alpha could do something like that and she wants to take care of Reader, help her out. She gives her one of her cards and tells her should she ever need anything to call her up.

Moon goes home that evening still so upset and laments everything to Hawk, even crying a little bit. The pair don't have pups of their own yet, but with Moon's midwifery and Hawk's work at the dojo with young pups, they are bot so affected by the story. Hawk starts mouthing off about how he'd like to meet the alpha that had the audacity to treat an omega such a way. He grumbles about it and Moon has to soothe him before they go to sleep.

The next day, Hawk accompanies Moon to the little shop where Reader works. As soon as he walks through the door, he smells the scent of a pup and omega. It just overpowers the shop and he can tell someone tried to cover up the lovely scent with perfume. Moon walks him over to Reader as she's hanging up clothes and introduces them. Reader is a little startled but pleasantly surprised. They talk for a while and Reader's boss is lurking, so Moon grabs a bunch of random stuff to go try on (with Reader's help) and they whisk her away to a dressing room so she doesn't get in trouble. They talk to her and entertain her for so long and they both become enchanted by her. They just fall instantly and ask her about herself the whole time. The pair don't know what to do with themselves.

All they do know is that they want to have her as theirs. They want her to be their mate. Show her that at least two people want her and want to love her.

Yandere DOL Headcannons

So, I've been cursed by Tumblr. Thanks to you degenerates I now know about the existence of Degrees of Lewdity, and just spent the last two or three weeks of my life completely devoted to binge playing it. While I do have MAJOR problems with how um... "broad" some of the "fetishes" get I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it was a fun game. (And yes, I know you can turn them off, but why the frick is some of that crap even an option???? Just no. Right to prison.)

Anyway, this trashfire game is getting added to my list of things I now write for. So ask away for headcannons. All normal rules apply. Decided to write some yandere headcannons for non-love interest characters.

EDIT: Honestly, I don't think I'll be writing anything else for this game. I've had a dry spell with it and looking back I can't believe I even played it. 😅 Yes, I was playing Vanilla mode basically, but still, I just... I can't people. So no, I'm not doing request for this. My good girl guilt is too strong. I'm still not ready to delete this though?

It would take a lot for someone to catch their attention. They've seen and done most everything, so you would really have to stand out in both appearance and personality to draw them in.

They like to have other people do their dirty work for them. They pay their goons to stalk you throughout the city and take pictures of you. Security is also there to keep the town pervs off of you. If you’re employed by them, they may have your fellow workers dig up information on you by rooting through your stuff in the dressing room or befriending you. When they finally do decide they has to have you, they may have their employees yank you into their car or office for a “friendly chat” so that you two can come to a sort of agreement on what kind of relationship he wants from you. Will sugarcoat it to look like just a business deal, but there’s a much more possessive motive behind it.

How they treat and interact with you if you reject them will be greatly affected by whether you are working for them or not. If you are, they are not above using some real nasty methods to keep you under their thumb, such as threatening to repeatedly have you pimped out against your will until you learn to be more obedient. If you’re not a sex worker or if you’re a virgin, they may simply pay to have a gang rough you up a bit as opposed to having them rape you, though they’ll make sure they leave a threatening message that one of your close friends may be on the receiving end of that treatment if you don’t come to them. Oh, and they are not playing. They have absolutely no qualms with carrying out their threats.

Leighton

I literally hate this man on a deep, personal level.

If you’re a student, they will have all kinds of excuses made to have you sent to their office. If you’re a delinquent this will be easy, but I see Leighton liking to take advantage of an innocent student, because that’s the kind of pile of human bile and horesecrap that he is. They would have you drawn in by either inventing reasons for you to need detention and discipline or wanting to “make sure you’re ok” because they supposedly heard your home life was difficult or that you weren’t feeling well. May want to give you “personal” health inspections.

With their camera fetish they’re going to want lots of pictures of you in every possible state. May also request “special” videos of you. If you have agreed and ever want to stop, it really sucks to be you, because they’ll threaten to release them if you aren’t obedient.

If you show any interest in a fellow student, they will make sure to pull them aside for "discipline" as well, and may even have you join in. They're perfectly fine with a threesome as long at the end of the day you realize your theirs.

Remy

I hate to burst ya’ll’s perverted bubbles, but I don’t think Remy would do the cow treatment with their love interest. They look at the player as cattle when they buy them and treat them as such. While they may have a certain “special interest” in tending to you, at the end of the day, you’re a cow, and they are not screwing a cow.

Now, don’t get me wrong. Their personality is extremely domineering and if they want something, they have made it clear throughout the course of the game that they get it. They will use and even take sadistic glee to an extent in using force to get what they want, as is shown in how they ransacks Alex’s farm and how they whips the player with joy when they refuse to plow. So if they have their eyes on a someone, they are getting them and taming them into submission. I just don’t think it would be through the cow treatment.

May try to woo you the more traditional way, using their riches and personality to try to win you over. If that doesn’t work though, some sabotaging your current love life and manipulating your financial situation by pulling some strings with your housing and job. If all else fails, maybe some threatening your loved ones will work. Don’t want everyone you love and care about lives being utterly ruined? They want you. Doesn’t really want to kidnap you if they don't have to, but they are not above it if things you are being a real brat or don’t really have anyone they can threaten you with.

After you either submit into entering a relationship or they abduct you, they use the carrot and stick method. Being bad gets you punished in various ways and revoking privileges, while being good has them treating you kinder and letting you do things you enjoy. They still keep you on a really tight leash though.

Can I ask for your take/opinion on a yandere idea? This was a passing thought, so forgive me if I don't explain it well.

But what about a yandere who enjoys the chase more than the catch? Like, they go all out getting their Darling and making sure they are Darling's one and only, but they start to get bored after a while of Darling finally being theirs so they move on. And what if Darling had snapped at some point because of the Yandere's constant mind games and was now convinced the two of them were meant to be so they sort of... switch positions. Now Darling is the predator and Yandere is the prey. The feelings are never really mutual (except for that short overlap in the middle). I think the idea is fun to consider, especially if you want to see how crazy handles crazy.

Honestly, I'm not proud of it, but I have totally chased someone and dumped their ass once I had them before lol. 16-year-old me was fucking ruthless I tell ya. Regardless, I, personally, don't think it's a very good trope for yandere, so it's not my favorite. Sorry to not have a better view on it ):

I believe there is something about the darling that draws the yandere in, but instead of being able to be normal about shared interests or kindness you showed them—or anything you can think about really—they just fall into this huge hole of obsession that they can't get out. Although this is also possible by e.g. torture and breaking of the mind, as with the darling here, somehow regretting the catch feels almost like the yandere... never was a yandere. Because it's the end goal to have a loving darling and live the 'normal' life with them for the yandere, their obsession never stops. At least to me, I know it's farfetched.

The "darling going yandere for their yandere" is just not my favorite thing because it honestly equals the ending of a compliant darling which is just a fucked up couple if they do end up together consensually. And if we take away that the captor is a yandere originally, then wouldn't the captive breaking not result in a more catatonic darling, rather than a darling that wants the love of the captor? You see, of course this is all nitpicking because I really can't make sense of it otherwise while still staying in the trope.

I will, however, give you an alternative if you look for the crazy meets crazy. How about two polar opposites that hate each other? Serial killer and detective, hero and villain, two office workers absolutely unable to stand one another but forced to work together. The good ol' enemies to (unwilling) lovers, where one of them finally goes yandere because they can't imagine their life without the other. Because they realize they are nothing without their darling, their whole existence relies on them. Darling is the only thing on their mind ever, and they can't control the many, untameable emotions they feel for the darling. Sure, they hate each other, but the yandere loves being hated by their darling and loves putting them in their place just as much. If they could have their way with their darling they'd absolutely have them exactly how they want them.

However, darling too, is struggling without them. Maybe going through existencial crisis without their mad counterpart or they realize they can't live up to the expectations once they bested the yandere (yan let them win obv.). Maybe the yandere is putting stones in their way, and forcing the darling to rely on them if they want to progress in their doings. Maybe darling gets gaslit and their self-confidence destroyed. The tension is exquisite as they realize they hate the yandere more than anyone in this world, but the yan might be the only one who gets them and keeps them motivated to improve themselves. It creates the dependency I talk about a lot, and it can go so far as to make the darling desperate, crushing them until they realize they can't get out of the mess they created. They can't give in to the yandere, but also can't do anything to stop them. They need to work with the yandere somehow, but everything about them repulses the darling.

People can't help but think the darling has gone mad as well. They are right. The darling broke a long time ago, but so did the yandere. No one will ever be able to understand these two psychos as they fight each other, so fixated on the other that they don't even realize the things going on outside of their feud. Or how people secretly ship them. Or that they need to finish their fucking around, but even if they leave their jobs/doings/etc. behind they'll never be able to get rid of each other, already too lost in the mad love and mad dependency.

Hope you might like this idea, and thank you for sharing yours! I am just very particular about figuring out how to make yandere work realistically and in-depth. And I totally don't mean in any way or form that you can't enjoy it, it's just my opinion ^^

My Analysis of Mori Ougai, Part One

I'm writing this mostly because I think a lot of people miss the point about him. I've been seeing a lot more character studies and "deep dives" recently but I honestly think many people are too blinded by their hatred of him to see the full picture. I'm not out here claiming I'm an unbiased person, but I've spent quite a lot of time thinking about him and his actions, so here's what I've come up with.

Mori Ougai does everything for Yokohama. Every decision he makes is for the greater good. He doesn't care about what happens to himself, the people close to him, or anything like that. The greater good is all that has ever mattered to him.

We first see this through his usage of Yosano to try to create the Immortal Unit. The "Greater Good" in this case was abilities being used in warfare by the Japanese. The Great War had been brought down to a single island with "primative battle[s] fought in close combat." Both the manga and anime describe how in this war, the Japanese are losing, badly. They're outnumbered and outgunned, and they don't even have the firepower to reach a trench close enough to theirs to be called "mocking."

Mori wants to prove that special abilities are useful in war, which would greatly assist the Japanese in winning if more ability users were drafted. His own ability, Elise, while strong (ish) would not be helpful in this case. We've already seen that she can be destroyed (Fukuzawa and Mori's fight during the cannibalism virus arc) and while it seems she can be remade, not much is known about the specifics of that. Elise, since her destruction, has only been seen once. Besides that, since she has been destroyed, it's an easy enough conclusion to come to that the firepower the European side had would be enough to kill her.

Therefore, Mori needed an ability that would not only prove to the Japanese government that abilities were worth something in a fight, but also win the battle of Tokoyami Island. Those two things go hand in hand, but they're not the same. Winning the battle would prove to the Japanese government abilities were worth something in battle, but only if the battle was won using an ability. And, in my opinion, a singular ability. He meant to show the government just how powerful one ability can be.

There's where Yosano came in. One person can be injured in battle, and killed. Even an ability user. But Yosano, who can keep a whole squadron alive forever? She was the ultimate weapon. Nevermind her age, nevermind her willingness, she was the key to the Greater Good. So he used her. It's cold, ruthless, and wrong, sure, but in a war? Wars do not care for wrong, ruthless and cold.

That's not to say that he wasn't affected by the war, though. During young Yosano's introduction, he's seen smiling and joking. Although it may not have come across that way in the English translation, the lines where he calls Yosano "his" is teasing. He ends his sentence in "だよ" which is the informal or friendly ending to a sentence. (Fun fact! adding "よ" after "だ" is like adding a "you know?" to the end of your sentence, so even more friendly.)

((Also… don't take "My Yosano" out of context. Yosano is described as a "sponsored medical student." Mori is her sponsor, most likely. She's his student and responsibility. That's all ya weirdos.))

When Yosano starts breaking down, Mori also has a personality shift. He goes from finding her antics cute, to being even colder and more ruthless. He went from threatening the soldiers to shooting one of them in the stomach. He was, at this point, obsessed with getting his Immortal Regiment to work. It doesn't, and while we don't really see how that affects him, it's a probable cause to his wanting to get Yosano back after the war, and subsequent fight on the rooftop with Fukuzawa.

Now, let's move onto the Underground Clinic Arc. While this arc is very short, it's another look into his what he's willing to do to achieve his goals. I mentioned at the very beginning his self-sacrificial nature. This is proven when he allows himself to be captured and beaten up by a group. Their goal was to get information out of him, and he knew that it would happen. Still, he allowed it to happen because he wanted to know where their base was so he could launch "retribution and [a] counter attack". He did this while putting himself at great risk.

(Alternatively, he could just be a masochist.) ((this is a joke ignore this))

That too was for the Greater Good, although this time, the Greater Good was acquiring a reputation as both a reputable underground doctor and as someone who knew everything. Both of which would be required to become the Port Mafia Boss' doctor, which was his "in" to becoming Boss himself. In doing that, he fulfilled his part of the Tripartite Tactic, which assured a safer city.

As for being the Port Mafia Boss, he does it well. He secured a successor, someone he could train from a young age to be the next Boss, leading him to continue keeping the city safe in the way the Port Mafia does best. He secured loyalty, which is one of his greatest strengths, in almost every single member of the Port Mafia. Every Mafia member we've interacted with so far has an incredible respect for Mori, barring Dazing, of course.

Even with Dazai, I'd argue he respects him.

I've heard people say that Oda was Mori's great failing and I disagree. Mori did know exactly what he was doing in killing Oda. There were two possible outcomes to the scenario: Oda dies, killing Gide in the process, the Port Mafia gains the Gifted Business Permit, and Dazai toughens up, learning that nothing but the Greater Good mattered, or Oda dies, killing Gide in the process, the Port Mafia gains the Gifted Business Permit, and Dazai leaves, too "soft" to be the next Port Mafia boss.

All for the Greater Good.

He took an organization, which was, for all intents and purposes, a terrorist group, and turned it into one of Yokohama's protectors. Yes, he is a bad person. His individual morality is horrifically dark. However, as a leader, he does what is best for the organization and city.

Everything for the Greater Good.

I honestly don't know now where this one originally fit, but it was likely a middle chapter since the relationship is established. I actually have three cut versions of this scene but this is the better one. I wanted to include how they got engaged, but I couldn't make it work. I think I wrote they were engaged for around 18 months?? (because he was away, and her mother passed, etc) so they're about 17-odd here, and it's around?? a 18 months?? before the trouble started. (I think??) Anyway, it stops abruptly when I realised it wasn't working.

I also wanted to hint at the postmaster and Isobel colluding early by reading their mail, but it didn't seem that important to include when the rest came together.

Anyway, here's another outtake from The Legend of Charro, my Tessjoel Western AU:

Tess stepped up on the long wooden walkway connecting the general store, the doctor’s clinic and the post office.  She pulled her shawl a little closer and tried to keep her steps even and slow, but it was hard when she knew there might be another letter waiting for her.  She had a little stack of them in her pocket, tied together with string.  Joel was writing whenever he could.  He was somewhere west now with Sheriff Hocking, getting all that good experience for when it was his turn to keep the law of the land.  She was so proud.

She turned into the building and went right up to the counter.  The postmaster sure took his time getting up from his desk, but he smiled behind his half-moon glasses.

“Good afternoon, Miss Carradine.”

“Good morning,” she answered, wanting to leap over the counter herself and check the pigeon holes.  She knew which one was theirs, and she could see a letter sitting there.  “My ma sent me, she’s hopin’ for a letter from her sister in Boston?”

“Just this one,” he answered, plucking the envelope from it place.  It looked pretty beat-up, but had been pressed flat for her.  “Don’t think it’s from Boston, and it’s for you,” he looked like he knew exactly what she’d come for.

“Thank you, sir,” she answered, and tried not to snatch the letter from his fingers.  “Give my best to Isobel,” she added.

Tess hurried out, opening the letter as she went.  The seal gave easily beneath her trembling fingers and she tugged out the page inside.  She sat down on the side of the walkway to read, heedless of being in anyone’s way, uncaring of being found.  Everyone knew they were writing.  Why, her mother was even reading the letters, just to make sure there was nothing untoward. 

She smiled as she read through his brief descriptions of where he was and what he was learning, the things he saw and wished he could show her.  He always wrote that – some version of carrying her with him so that, in a way, she really could see what he saw.  The idea that he could be out there amongst so much and still thinking of her dazzled Tess.  And then she came to the last line and –

“Tess.”

“In a minute, Nathaniel.  I’m readin’.”

She leaned closer to the letter.  Had she really read that last bit right?

“Tess!”

“Can you give me a goddamn minute, I am tryin’ to read!”  She looked up in a fury, pulling her letter close in case he tried to take it away from her.

Nathaniel scoffed and held out his hand.  “Come on.”

“It’s for me!”

“He’s back, Tess.  He’s over at the jailhouse right now.”

“He’s back?  But I just got a letter.”

“Well, he beat it home.”  He shook his hand in the air.  “Come on.”

Tess took her brother’s hand with a slow grin and dexterously folded up the letter with her free hand.  She was still holding it when he escorted her into the sheriff's office, where the sheriff himself was sitting on the edge of his desk and chatting to his oldest son, standing before him with hands on hips.

What polite conversation took place for Nathaniel and Sheriff Miller to leave them alone was utterly lost on Tess.  She and Joel beamed at one another as the dust danced in the sunlight between them, too charged to settle on the boards. 

“When’d you get back?”

“This mornin’.  You look nice.”

Tess shook her head quickly and looked down, still smiling away.  “No, I’m all dirty.  I rode in with Nathaniel and – and we only just got in.”

“I’m all dirty, too,” he explained, passing through the sunlight to reach her.  “Only just come on back.”

He stopped when they were toe-to-toe.  Tess felt a little thrill loop around her stomach.  He glanced past her to the closed door.  Soft voices out there, hoof beats on a dusty street.  He was going to kiss her and that excitement, that moment right before they did it, never waned.  She especially liked the way he kissed her after he’d been gone a little while.  Tess curled her fingers around his necktie and he tugged her to him by the waist.  They kissed as long and deeply as they dared when the door could open any minute.

“You all right?”  Joel asked, short of breath and a little dazed when they broke for air.  “You been good while I was gone?”

She shook her head.  “No.  I’ve been bored and lonely.”

“You poor little thing,”  he grinned and kissed her some more.  “I missed you.”

The way his hands swept her back and skirt was nothing short of indecent.  Tess made the mistake of moaning and he broke the kiss, lifting his hands from her body to her hair instead.  He rested his head against hers and watched it pool and overflow in his fingers. 

“I’ll ride out to you tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow?!”

He chuckled and lifted her to sit on the edge of his desk.  “Can’t you wait?”

“Can’t you?  Or you been callin’ on all those pretty girls out there?”

“No.” He shook his head slightly.  “Don’t talk like that.  Had all them others laughin’ at me while I stayed back to write you while they did all their whorin’.”

“… kept all your letters.”  Tess held up the one still crumpled in her hand.

“What you got there?” 

“That’s one of yours.”

“It only just come?”

“Mm hm.”

Joel leaned in to look at it.  She saw his confidence careen sideways when he realised which one it was.  His eyes flitted between hers and the ink.

“So … so what do you think?”

“I think … I think maybe I’d like that.”

“You’d like that?”  He broke out into a grin, shy and relieved, like he couldn’t quite believe it either.  Then he straightened up, all business.  “You know it can’t be right away.”

“That’s all right.  I can wait,” she eagerly replied.

“I have to ride away again.  Even as soon as next week. Don't look at me like that."

I wanted to ramble about the whb!mc and base by your interaction with your followers and anonymous, I think this will be a safe zone for me. As much as I enjoy the game, mc being talkative and active here and there kinda ruin it for me...? Instead of discussing the real matter on how they supposed to break all the contract much faster and go home, they out here letting devils have their way with them and I KNOW that it's an obligation but I'm curious if they ever know how to say 'no' at some points. They shouldn't care for the these dudes that just dragged them to hell and to the job that wasn't even theirs to begin with. They should've know how to keep the devils at arm length and even when they're having intimacy with them, mc should always remind them that it's only a business and business alone. Nothing more than that. Don't feed in their already ego

There's a new announcement that came out (it's like the attack of kings? Or something) that show a poster of kings having intimacy with mc, but that's beside the point. The part is in Beelzebub and satan. If you look at the background, you can see what they're doing is IN public. Satan being at the side of the alley while beel at inside the bar. We haven't got much information for that scene. It could be that mc really do need the devil energy now and don't have enough time to go back, but satan (and probably the other devils) knows how to teleport in the room so that shouldn't be a problem? Atleast in my perspective, it shows how much of a ragdoll the whb make mc. It's probably just me being a Dom!reader enjoyer 🤷

Oh I absolutely know the plight you're going through. It's just so odd for the MC's priority to be so focused on the horny rather than focusing on the war, like it's secondary to them and it makes the whole setting feel so distant as a result. Because of how non-assertive they are, they feel like a talking blowup sex doll getting dragged from one place to another, not really having any sort of clear identity. And any of the "no" options we do get are those "I say no but my body says yes," or they immediately retract their no because they don't want to hurt the devils feelings. And I'm just???? Frustrated with that???

It's bland and lazy.

And the new L cards... Man, it's real funny to me, honestly.

Devs, get more creative. They've been doing that since the start. This isn't new. I get it, it's a new position in the L cards, but it's not a new kink or new dynamic. It's the same "Devils are on top and domming, MC is bottoming and subbing" type thing. So, I am not interested in those cards in the least.

Oh and they're doing that thing again where they're not showing what currency you'll be using to roll of the new L cards. Scummy way of giving their audience false hope. If I end up being wrong, somehow or another, alright, that's fine. Still not going to be rolling for them. The chance numbers are atrocious for a paid-only currency.

The way I headcanon Jill reacting to having a baby that looks like her, as mentioned in a previous post, would be similar to how Jack would react in the same scenario, which I showed in this post. A big difference would be that I think it might hit Jill harder, since she would be getting a much higher dose of pregnancy hormones when compared to Jack, who would be getting some spill over from Alice due to the connection. Post-Partum Depression isn't something to joke about.

Oh, speaking of which. The lovely Miqui_vimo over on twitter drew this heart-rending comic of Jill's trauma after seeing the baby turned out to be just like her... as well as the guilt that follows. It's so sad, but I think with enough love and support, they'll both be okay.

Honestly, I think if the baby was albino, it would probably make things easier on Jill (and Jack). Yes, there's a lot of features in the face that are similar to who she used to be, including the mole, but the baby also has distinct traits from Arthur(/Alice). Albinism is a pretty rare trait, so if anything having such an obvious trait that is associated with her sunshine would be something she could focus on.

This is why I've been inclined to go with the idea that their first child didn't inherit Arthur's(/Alice's) albinism, though they did inherit some pretty blue eyes. Jill(/Jack) is forced to face who she used to be. Though that might be a bit too mean, hahaha. Jill(/Jack) has already been through a lot. So, yeah, let's go with their first child inheriting that albinism and give Jill(/Jack) a break.

I can imagine by the time Jill and Arthur are ready to become parents, her past as Josephine would've come to a head... whether she wanted it to or not. She might've more or less accepted who she used to be and not feel as bad, but it's a dead identity she would rather not think about

Realistically, Jill and Arthur would have discussed what their baby might look like before the pregnancy. Arthur in particular would want to make sure that it wouldn't potentially trigger something when Jill keeps talking about wanting the baby to be exactly like him and dodge traits he would like the baby to inherit from her. Jill would be happy and soothe his fears while convincing herself that there's nothing to fear. The baby is going to be both of theirs.

Jill meant it, she really did! It's just the reality of seeing a baby who looks just like her when she was born, only pale and with white hair, is jarring when she's overwhelmed with hormones, PPD, and the entire process of a home birth. Why couldn't the baby have been born with more of Arthur's traits? It's a guilty thought she has, one she immediately feels awful for, and feels the need to make it up to their baby all the more.

You know, this headcanon has helped me come up with the name for Jill and Arthur's daughter (as well as Jack and Alice's son). Lucia feels like a very fitting name to me, and it's very pretty, don't you think? For her male counterpart, the baby's name would then be Lucius. Male or female, the baby's nickname would be Lucy.

Anyway, with the empathy connection between them and Arthur being an empathetic person, he would pick up on Jill... not doing very well, to put it mildly.

The whole birthing process would've been hard on both of them, particularly Jill, since it had to be done at home with Arthur delivering the baby himself. He would also have to take care of Jill through the birthing process. Even if his family and friends were there to assist, they can't do anything directly when it came to taking care of Jill and then help with the baby after the birth. All medical care for Jill, if the world still can't interact with her, would have to be entirely done by Arthur. It's fortunate that Jill is resilient due to her supernatural state of being, or this would be a very dangerous situation for her and the baby.

Jill only has Arthur to directly talk to about how she's feeling, unless she decides to write to someone about it, and she would be hesitant to do so. Even though Arthur would want her to rely on him, it would be hard. They talked about it after all! She insisted she would be fine!

Arthur though has gotten wise to Jill's tells when she's hiding how she's really feeling to not worry him. He doesn't push, at least not hard, so when he sees that strain in Jill's expression when she looks at Lucia for the first time and sees herself... Arthur pulls them both into an embrace.

"You did wonderful, starlight," Arthur said softly beside Jill's ear before kissing her tear-stained cheek. "Just look at her. She looks just like the most beautiful person in the world."

Though Jill was trying to bury the negative feelings twisting in her gut, those words made it a little easier for her to ignore them. She turned to meet Arthur's lips, kissing him desperately as she clutched their little miracle close. She forced out a weak chuckle, trying to seem less affected by the trauma of giving birth than she was. "She does. She looks just like you, sunshine."

Arthur blushed as his praise was turned around on him, and playfully rolled his eyes. "You know what I meant, Jill." He couldn't help but look down at the little bundle nestled between them. "She's so beautiful, just like her mother." He looked up at Jill, eyes watering as he started to get emotional. "I love you both so much, every inch of you, and every second of who you were and will ever be."

Those words made things a little easier for Jill to bear, and more tears welled up in her eyes despite herself. "Sunshine..." She choked up a bit before kissing Arthur sweetly. "Thank you," she finally managed in a weak whisper. "Arthur... sunshine... I love you so much."

Through watery eyes Jill looked down at little Lucia, a little blur of pale color that was almost unrecognizable. This way she could only focus on the heat and softness of this delicate miracle she held, on the soft breaths that let her know that she, both of them, were real. She focused too on Arthur holding her, surrounding her in his warmth as he reminded her that she was safe and loved... that she would never be cold and alone ever again.

"Welcome to the world, Lucia," Jill finally said, her smile coming more easily now even as her heart tightened. "I love you... our little miracle."

Of course, PPD won't be resolved just with one sweet moment like this. Jill would need more reassurance and more time to bond with Lucia, but I think that with time she won't see Josephine in Lucia anymore. She'll just see Lucia, her little bundle of sunlight, the miracle she and Arthur created with their love.

This will of course lead to Jill being a very protective mama bear if Lucia is ever even remotely threatened. Hopefully no one will be stupid enough to try anything with the baby and wind up pushing the yandere murder clown button.

Eventually, I think Jill will recover enough to be keen on the idea of giving Lucia a few siblings to play with. Arthur won't push for it even though he wants a big family, but once Jill brings the idea up, he'll definitely be on board, even if that horny clown is going to go a bit overboard with the baby making. Arthur is definitely going to need to keep hydrated!

On Miku Day I think it's very fitting to watch the sky deepen into blue as time passed.

Positive thing: Conversation Table went well again today, and I got good food.

It was nice to be away from grad school stuff and focus on something entirely different, and everyone seems to appreciate it which is cool too. At the same time it makes me sharply aware that my schedule is packed to the brim in a way that theirs isn't. I show my various checklists and my calendar to friends who aren't from my classes and I see them physically balk. I always wonder if my time management is just off, and it probably is to some extent - but what was I supposed to sacrifice? Even more of my limited rest time? Needing to eat? I remember emailing my professor for help for something one time and she said if I was having trouble I should've emailed earlier. But how was I supposed to know I needed help before I realized I needed help?

I was also surprised by another thing recently. That there were people who never experienced depression for long periods of time, who never experienced keen anxiety, who never thought seriously about wanting to die. I guess surprise isn't the right word. I know logically people like that exist, and technically, statistically are the majority. But I couldn't comprehend a life like that. Not that I don't think those people don't have struggles or genuine hardships of their own, but being mentally ill really shifts how you have to approach things in life or take care of yourself. It takes an enormous amount of effort during times like these where I'm stressed to find the worth in continuing. I can't fathom what ease there must be for people who never have to contend with those kinds of feelings.

Well. I suppose it's not really an ease. It must hit a lot harder when you're going through a difficult time and to you it's genuinely the worst thing that's ever happened. I've seen friends distressed over things I experience often and feel numbed to. I never think what they feel should be minimized because obviously the enormity of those feelings, regardless of the reason they come up, are very real. It's just different.

But anyway. I'm just going through it. Today wasn't bad by any means aside from the mental health issues. Dinner was good - we went to the Chinese place nearby and the lady gave us these rice cakes that were delicious, and the other food was good as usual too.

My dad also sent us more groceries (rather, he bought them and I picked them up at Sam's), so I should hopefully be set for a while food-wise. It was hard to not have a lot of easy-to-make meals like frozen food available since I have very little energy and time to cook most days. But now there's lots of frozen fried rice and other things.

I'm skipping going to the beach with my friends to sleep and honestly that's probably the better option. I have lots of homework to do too but I'll take it one project at a time, so I only need to finish one of them by tomorrow, and then I can focus on the others more next week. But yeah time to sleep. Do you have any advice for fan fiction writers who aren't getting many readers etc? I feel like giving up some days but I love writing and find fan fiction my personal therapy if that makes sense. I'd love any advice you can give or any suggestions. 💕

Well, honestly I'm not any kind of authority so take whatever I say with a grain of salt. Because honestly, I never really thought I'd get any kind of following to begin with 😕 this surprised me, and still does to this day, more than anyone. When I started posting my first fic (very nervously and through the feeling like I was going to throw up) I thought "well, I'll just write a few chapters and probably no one will ever read it and I'll get bored and it'll be out of my system." And now here we are, and I have no idea how that happened 😳

What advice I can give is, you can't write for the sake of other people. I know that sounds cheap as hell because the whole point of sharing fic is to get feedback and interact with others in the fandom, but really at the heart of it you have to just write stories that you like and you want to read above everything else. Keep writing. Keep growing. Keep refining your work and your style so no matter what the view count is, you know you're becoming a better writer regardless. And truth be told, you never know what idea or fic will hit with readers and what won't. You may write something and think oh no one is gonna gaf about this and then out of nowhere, that's what people love. It happens more than you know.

Another thing is - and this is going to sound harsh at first but bear with me please - in this day and age sadly you have to manage your expectations. Not because you don't deserve more readers or comments or because your work isn't good, but because the culture of fandom and fanfic/fanart is changing, and not for the better. There's dozens of posts that make the rounds on here passively warning people about how a lot of writers and artists are getting burned out and fed up with the lack of reciprocal community from their audience. Tiktok and IG and all that shit has kind of ruined the landscape of fandom because now everything is seen as just consumption based. More and more people read a fic and move on, binge a show and move on, burn through a fandom's entire AO3 content in 3 months and move on, and it sucks. I mean when you look at fandoms of old, the days of Xena and Buffy for example, a lot of those fans are still around and still participating and still creating work even though the show/fandom/ships are long gone. You don't really see that loyalty much anymore, and it becomes a cycle of the fandom shrinking and then the feedback and comments and support grinds to a halt, and then creators stop feeling like wasting hours of their life to pour themselves into work that gets maybe a handful of comments even though they see hundreds or thousands of people have read it. It just sucks all around. So expecting to see the numbers that a fic did even 3-5 years ago, sadly, just isn't going to happen.

BUT

I do also know this, the Clexa fandom has been one of the best fandoms I've ever been in, both as just a fan on the outskirts and someone who tries to contribute. I've found Clexas to be funny and welcoming and we have a core group of fucking awesome and loyal, supportive readers, but the thing is you have to keep going. Sometimes building an audience and a regular group of readers takes time. Name recognition matters. Yes there are writers out there that are just synonymous with the fandom, but there's other writers (hi yes hello me, I mean me lol) who came late to the party and it's taken some time to get people to see their work. Tagging things and reblogging, talking in tags, reaching out to other people in the fandom and making friends who want to help you with your work because you help support theirs. All that stuff. It makes a difference. Damn near every week or so I get a new reader saying "wow idk how I hadn't heard of you before/read your stuff before but I'm glad I found it, keep going!" And that 100% will never have even the possibility of happening if you stop writing!

In the end, you just have to decide what's best for you. If this feels incredibly unhelpful I truly am sorry, I wish I had better advice to give you but I'm as clueless to this all as you are. But 2 things I do know for sure without a doubt? One, there is a place for you in any fandom, and your work does matter. There is an audience out there who want to read what you have to write and they'll love it. And two, in the end just be kind to yourself. Love yourself and be proud of yourself for trying, and for being creative and growing your work. Fanfic is supposed to be fun, writing about your favorite blorbos is meant to be fun, even if more often than not it feels like the equivalent of just dancing alone in your kitchen. Ya get what I mean?

I’ve been thinking about getting into crochet! I’m trying to do more hands on hobbies as a way to get me from falling into a depression funk. I had a knitting “faze” when I was ten years old and I’m considering going back into it. However I suffer from the good old “if I’m immediately bad at something new then I don’t want to try it at all! 😤”

You totally should! I learned how to do basic crochet from my grandma when I was 11, then never picked it up again until recently(ish). Honestly, it got my through my fucky exam period last year. It's just so much fun and when I can listen to a podcast/watch YT/a show while doing it I immediately get into a very intense flow state. I'd recommend amigurumi when you're only starting out, actually! You don't need to learn much, just the magic ring (you can find easy ways to do that on YT, everyone likes to do theirs differently so no rec from me haha). Afterwards, it's just single crochets, increases and decreases and counting. Later on, simple sewing. Start out with a simple cotton yarn, acrylic can get rather stiff, don't start with bulky yarns like velvets etc - these really are for more experienced crocheters (but they're not that hard to work with. Just not for beginners.)... For stitch counting, you can use either a yarn scrap or safety pin. I'm in Europe and just got super cheap hooks from Action and well priced cotton yarn from Søstrene Grene (2,39 Euro for I think 50g of yarn? That's enough for two amigurumi main body colors, tbh). There are also entire kits catered to beginners, I can recommend those as well (if they have a hook included!) I personally found the learning curve on amigurumi extremely steep. I just needed two days to get started on my first one (first I just practiced a simple round body) and on my third amigurumi, they started looking right. Took me like... a week? It was fast and BAM just a few weeks later I was writing my own patterns and wrote patterns from simply watching other people crochet in a foreign language. Crochet is super fun and once you get started on the bulky yarns, you can create giant plushies from scratch!! Absolutely amazing. I'd say it's actually a good hobby for the 'I need it to be good asap' faction because you can make giant steps in a single day. Good luck!! If you want me to show you some patterns I did, tell me!!

A Court of Silver Flames Review

Let me just say that I recently saw Sarah's interview where she says that Nesta is the most personal she got with her character and that she sometimes felt like Nesta did and I just wanna give Sarah a big big hug! You climbed the mountain, Sarah, just like Nesta did and you're helping many people, me included climb theirs, so thank you! Now the book!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a half (officially second favorite of the series)

If this was the last book of the series I would be very very pissed because I still have too many questions without an answer! But since it isn't (thank the cauldron!) it was a fantastic book!

Nesta's journey was very slow build but I really appreciated that because that's how it is when you're in a such dark place. Sometimes it's painfully slow for you to get to the other side! I loved the Valkyries storyline and that she found friends outside of the night court. I love the night court but just like Feyre has her art studio, Nesta needs also a purpose outside of it. And the Valkyries fit perfectly. Also, how cool was her relationship with the House?! I want one!

I saw some comments online of people saying they ended up disliking Cassian after the book but that didn't happen with me at all. I liked him even more (he's my second favorite brother, for now!) It was so interesting to see him trying the girls and taking care of Nesta, we really got a sense of what a great guy he is. The only thing I thought it was missing was his war general side. I wished we could see his strategic thinking more, or him with his troops.

The two of them are warriors at heart and they fit perfectly together and there's not much to say about that. I had no doubt Nesta would accept the bond, not when she was so obviously in love with him and their relationship just naturally built (it reminded me a bit of Aelin and Rowan to be honest, with the "hatred" in the beginning, and the training, I thought that was cute).

The whole baby Nyx storyline with Feyre and Rhys almost gave me a heart attack! When Rhys told the brothers the baby had wings I got that dread feeling in my got and at the end of the book I just wanted to cry. Also, it was very cruel, good cruel, awesome, of Sarah to make us live through that in Nesta's POV. But I honestly don't think I would've made it until the end if it was Rhys or Feyre's POV. I would've crawled into a ball and just stayed there holding the book. But if one day, Sarah decides to right a novella with their povs, I will buy it and sob!

HOWEVER, all is beautiful, all is magical and all ends well but I have questions.

1- What's up with Azriel and Elain? If the next book is truly about Elain, then it's going to be a mess. She's ignoring Lucien all she can and I don't know how that's going to change. And Azriel, who was all certain she was meant for him, now is making eyes at Gywn. Sure, Rhys ordered him to stay away from Elain, but didn't he move on kinda fast? Also, let's suppose for a second that Eris dies somewhere in the next book, would it be possible for Lucien to be the heir of Autumn court? But as Helion's son (we still have that little revelation to look forward to) would he also be the heir to Dawn court? I also saw someone hypothesizing that Tamlin wouldn't survive in the next book and that Lucien could be the heir to the spring court as well, that Elain would fit well there. So the possibilities are endless...

2- What's the next storyline going to be, hunting for Koschei? Tracking down the other queens? Now that Nesta has given up most of her power, would some of the burden fall to Elain, being she the strongest of the two?

3- Are Mor and Emerie going to be a thing? I'm all for it!

4- Amren and her theory about Rhys being High King Amren always seems to know more than everyone else and she clearly thinks that fate is showing signs of the path forward, where Rhys and Feyre would be High King and Queen. I don't know how I feel about this. But though I love Amren, I sometimes feel like she isn't showing all her cards.

There are probably more but I guess it all depends on how long ACOTAR is going to be. 7 books + 1 novella like TOG? More? Less?

I guess what I'm saying is that we need at least two more ACOTAR books to make sense of all of this!

Hey just a random anon poppin' in to say love your fic on Deltarune, ngl at first thought I wouldn't like it had been reading a lot of stuff looking for a good yandere kris as I was craving it but all of them left me disconnected how ironic with your fic title it finally scratched that itch and even allowed me to start reading some other stuff now feeling more connected to the idea of kris

However, don't think I've found one yet that tops your idea of them and the way you write them (I've also only looked on Tumblr so far but with how great yours has been at having me on the edge of my seat I don't know if I'll ever find one that tops you)

And goner! Goner is amazing! I usually end up either just accepting or hating a lot of writers who insert characters that feel like mostly oc material but goner doesn't at all and fits really well with the story (Really impressive tbh cuz sometimes on first readings even when a character isn't the op oc insert and actually plays into the story I can end up feeling eh about them just due to deciding they are but goner just immediately on the first few lines captivated me)

It probably helps that most of it is your interpretation on them since Kris also doesn't have much personality known about them so cause of that nothing feels screaming out of place or wrong instead it reminds me of when I read a lot of au stuff- with fics that feel like their trying to capture the magic of the source material I think I get a lot more critical but your writing in this fic has it's own magic and lore

Like why they're both obsessed! The SOUL is pretty much drug-like and addicting to such a point without their guidance Kris is crippled, this not only creates amazing tension with their weakened state but also really makes you think about if it's actually even good for either of them to pine after the very soul that will take them both over. But as the soul we also have a life not of our own to live, to see, and explore every possibility and every outcome. The reader is almost god-like with resets but an easily chained-up one without a host. Which also creates an understanding of why Kris chooses to put the reader in a cage, limit them and create interest and mystery but also because that feeling of power over something so powerful has to also be somewhat addicting and why they view the soul as wholeheartedly (pun intended) *theirs*

And it also shows how much they're willing to go through to get it back that even while weakened and at every possible disadvantage they still want to risk it all.

And honestly with all of this really do feel like the SOUL in this situation, which may be my favorite part as the main element you do keep in deltarune is that feeling of playing a game. Is there that concern for goner? Yes, but do I also want to see how far goner and kris will go tearing each other apart to see who gets the SOUL? Also yes. Recreates that aspect of deltarune very well including the accurate freak out every person playing games has when the character their playing makes a sudden decision [See goner killing a monster cuz they called them Kris] and it perfectly ties it back into the plot and uses it to make further tension as the SOUL just goes along this new path while Kris is freaking out thinking there have already been resets because of it.

Just? Love? So? Much?

Keep doing what you're doing- I hope my feedback has only influenced you in positive ways- (slightly debated on taking out the more negative aspects where I mentioned things I disliked in other fics and things I hyper-fixated on or possibly misremembered outa fear it would make you change yourself too much- I have no idea what I'm talking about or what makes a story a good story only what makes my brain go brrrrrrr and that's all you should read this as, someone just really over-excited rn- ill probably calm down later)

So I'm sure everyone else has already shared theirs, but now that I've had the chance to rewatch a few times, here are mine!

This is rather disjointed, just a ramble of my own thoughts!

Spoilers, obviously, beneath cut.

First of all, I think I found the setting that Obi-Wan was in to be very interesting. It's simultaneously less reclusive wizard and more reclusive wizard than I think most of fandom/Legends assumes. Less reclusive: he has a job, a minimum wage one for sure but he has one! He commutes! He isn't just mystery hermit in the sands; I doubt he socializes, but he is in contact with other humans regularly who probably know "Ben."

At the same time, it's more reclusive, because he lives in a friggin' cave. He has a little hut, we know this from Ep IV, and I think most of us assumed he lived there, because why wouldn't he? He certainly lived there in the Kenobi novel. Ngl I kinda like the cave, it looks less stuffy than I'd imagine a hut to be, but the change is very curious and I can't help but wonder what was behind the change.

One thing that made me incredibly sad: Nari.

A Jedi who survived all of these years, who looks younger than Obi-Wan and may have been a Padawan at the time of Order 66, like Kanan. One who wasn't looking for Obi-Wan, but stumbled upon him by chance, and clearly both desperately needed Obi-Wan's help and was just so incredibly relieved to find someone, especially someone he probably really looked up to. Nari was someone who has obviously been through a lot, but still never stopped helping people. Given how he talks about "the fight," there's a chance he was involved in the Rebellion; perhaps not necessarily on the macro scale, but at least in small personal ways, helping where he can.

And Obi-Wan turns him away.

Like, I do get it. I'm not exactly disagreeing with the writers but, it also hurt and definitely isn't my favorite interpretation of Obi-Wan's solitude. It's one thing to protect Luke because of his sense of responsibility to Anakin and Padmé, along with this being his final assignment from Yoda. It's one thing to say he can't abandon his post and go out of his way to help people if it means endangering Luke.

But someone literally fell in front of him. Someone who really needs him, a fellow Jedi, a fellow survivor who is actively doing good. That Obi-Wan rejects even speaking with him kindly, to at least tell him he's done well, to say anything that Nari likely desperately wanted to hear from another Jedi even if they have to later part ways...

On one hand, the positive: it was a good narrative way to show how broken Obi-Wan truly is. Past Obi-Wan never could have done that. This Obi-Wan is barely hanging on, doesn't have any empathy to give to even other Jedi. It likely also shows how disconnected he is from the Force, which we'll get to later too. I get it. It's heart breaking, but I get it.

On the other, the negative: I was defintiely not fond of the implication that "Luke is more important than all other Jedi, likely because of the Prophecy, or some weird extra expectation that he is Super Special." Like I had admittedly thought that that was in the back of Obi-Wan's mind, but that he's mostly protecting Luke because he's a young, helpless Force-sensitive whose parents were dear to Obi-Wan, and that Luke's life is not, intrinsically, more valuable than that of anyone else, especially not other Jedi. From Obi-Wan's rejection, I got some, "My passive duty to protect the Chosen Child is more important than the pressing and immediate help that could save this other Jedi's life." I don't know if anyone else felt that, but I was not a fan.

Moving on, Leia. Honestly I absolutely adored her, and I think her dialogue and actress were incredibly spot on. Clever, smart-mouth, sassy, hyper, disobedient, rude but eloquently so, and probably drives all the adults around her up the wall. I could literally feel Obi-Wan gaining more white hairs just being in her vicinity, and I think that's very fitting. Also has a great stranger-danger sensor, I'm proud of Bail and Breha's way of educating her.

I also adore that it adds to canon stories: the fact that Leia immediately trusts Luke when he comes to rescue her on the Death Star because he names "Ben Kenobi." The fact that she named her son Ben; I always hated the idea that she named her son after Luke's pseudo very short term mentor. But her own savior, who left a lasting impression on her? That makes far more sense.

And lastly, it gives far more depth to Leia saying, "Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." I didn't predict that Leia would be in this, but in hindsight, I should have. I really, really appreciated all the ways in which her presence, and her meeting Obi-Wan really just gives so much meaning to all of these things.

I loved the bittersweet Padmé reference. Because gods, Luke and Leia aren't just Anakin. And Obi-Wan was there, when Padmé's tried so hard to talk to Anakin but he broke her heart. He was there when she gave birth, when she named the twins, and she spoke her very last words to him. Their past friendship aside, I think it obvious that he would be reminded of Padmé when he sees Leia again for the first time in ten years, when the last time had been beside her dead mother. And regardless of whether Padmé makes any actual appearances in flashbacks, I'm grateful she is recognized in this way.

Another thing I was grateful for, jumping back a bit: Bail telling Obi-Wan, "She's just as important as [Luke] is." We know this, but it's so cathartic to hear someone say it so bluntly. Bail and Breha's love for Leia is so bright, and I'm so glad we get to see it, even if it makes their deaths and Alderaan's destruction that much more heartbreaking. We don't get to explore much of how devastated Leia was in the OT, so I'm really glad they're doing that here.

I have to take a moment to talk about the one interaction that absolutely gripped my clone-loving heart: the clone veteran interaction.

That...was a 501st veteran. There's no way Obi-Wan wouldn't recognize his paint, though with his weakened connection to the Force he may not have been able to tell with that. It's heartbreaking enough to see a clone as a presumably homeless veteran begging for credits on the streets, especially with Tem playing him--but the fact that he's 501st, means that he very likely was one of the men who stormed the Temple. Obi-Wan saw the recordings, likely stepped over the bodies of his fellow Legion-members. So many thoughts must have gone through Obi-Wan's mind...but he still gives the man credits.

Just...that small gesture, there is so much to interpret there.

I don't know if the clone was still chipped, or if he broke free. It's been ten years, but he's still wearing clearly painted clone armor. I don't know if he recognized Obi-Wan. But even though Obi-Wan likely saw in him the men who slaughtered the Jedi at the Temple, his own 212th who tried to kill him, he still gives the man credits...still shows that he is worthy of life and simple comfort.

I am still hoping there will be more clones in this show, but this small moment was still incredibly precious and meaningful. It's a sharp contrast to how Obi-Wan treated Nari (perhaps even affected by guilt for how he treated Nari?), and that's something to ponder over too.

(although, ngl, given the context of the clone veteran speaking was directly after Obi-Wan says, "Master Qui-Gon, if there was ever a time I could use your guidance, it's now," or something like that don't remember exact quote...I was really expecting the clone veteran to show up later in the episode to help them out, RIP)

Which, speaking of the Force: I think it's really interesting how they're showing how difficult it is to reach for Obi-Wan. It's most obvious when we see how much effort it takes for him to catch Leia (the almost-Spiderman scene), but other things too, like I feel like he should have known that the dummy wasn't Leia. He's out of shape physically, getting beaten by thugs in a way that General Kenobi or even Knight Obi-Wan likely never would have. He punches dirty and uses a blaster and is more physical than he was before. He lacks a certain Jedi grace, which I have a hunch we'll see gradually return to him (perhaps). Perhaps his lack of empathy to Nari is also related, as well as how he had separated himself from his lightsaber by burying it.

(tho speaking of lightsaber can i just say--Obi-Wan, my dude, get a holster or something with deep pockets man, you're just letting it swing around out there for everyone to see. Also cover your dang face and Leia's too, that's more important than a coat maybe. I appreciated the Leia costume call backs, but in terms of common-sense, ahhhhh......)

Next, Haja. Gosh, I actually really enjoyed his character and his scenes. Given the lack of real Jedi, it's interesting to see how the public, non-Jedi people have perceived their absence, and his little gig shows that people still remember the Jedi (at least on Daiyu), even if he's using the title to take advantage of people. Him pretending to "use the Force" to close the shutters is like, that thing that I'm sure everyone has done with automatic doors (that Ewan himself has confessed to doing) where you pretend to use the Force, and it was hilarious to see that in universe. His trick levitating things with magnets reminded me of how Jango uses that trick in the Open Seasons comic, and momentarily baffles Count Dooku.

The moment where Obi-Wan pulls a freakin' blaster on Haja just made me laugh so hard, along with the line, "Goodness, that light is unforgiving." That sass. Like on one hand, ok gangster Obi, but on the other, just gosh idk what I meant to say but I found it hilarious.

Then, of course, it turns out that Haja has at least a bit of a conscience. I'm not sure if he just saw that Obi-Wan's a Jedi, or if he was actually a genuine fan of the Jedi and remembers names like Obi-Wan's specifically, which is how he ended up with his current "job." Either way, what a great way to show that some people, even those with dubious ethics, still remember and genuinely believe in the Jedi. Facing down Reva was no easy feat. I really do hope that's not the last we see of this character.

And lastly, oh, Reva.

I have...I want to say I have mixed feelings about her, but that wouldn't be true. I wanted to like her, so badly, but I was wary ever since she was announced, because I'm always wary when a POC is cast as the face of the Empire. There's an excellent post here that puts it in words better than I could why I feel that way.

Moses Ingram looks amazing, and from what I've seen of her in this show, she's an incredibly skilled actress who can project a phenomenal aura. I'm glad she's part of the Star Wars universe, and always think it's great when there's more black women on screen--but again, her specific role as an inquisitor made me wary, and watching the first 2 eps unfortunately did nothing to dispel that worry.

I get that they wanted to write a "strong woman character." A character who takes no shit, who is ruthless, who does what needs to be done. But at the same time, the way Reva is in the first two eps, made the other inquisitors look kind??? in comparison. Made child kidnappers seem like they have more of a conscience. There's strength, and then there's going too far to the point of cruelty, and I kept thinking yikes. And I get that she probably doesn't have a great relationship with the Grand Inquisitor, and he says some pretty shitty things too...but generally speaking, I think he was established as a cool antagonist in Rebels, one with dignity and to a degree, honor, and the dynamic she has with him really made me cringe.

I think it's likely that Reva was the first Initiate we see at the very beginning Order 66 scene, and I'm sure we'll get backstory as to why she's so fixated on Obi-Wan and why she knows Anakin's identity. I hope they will explain if not necessarily justify her actions.

I really wanted to like her...but given what we've seen of her so far, I'm baffled how, with the way she is written, she is supposed to be a likable character. You can write likable antagonists, you can write compelling but evil people in the Empire. Reva's character has left me feeling baffled, because I don't think this is it.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, and it's only been two episodes (or already a third of the show...). I'm hoping future episodes will change my mind. (But also, I can't help but wish they had written a different character for the actress.)

Oof that reveal at the end of Episode 2 though, oof. I'm not surprised he didn't know about Anakin, and am glad we got to see that moment. (I'm now pretty convinced that "oh no we have to delay 2 days but we'll air 2 eps at once instead!" was a bullshit excuse to just do a premiere 2 episode showing that gives a first glimpse at Hayden at the Star Wars Celebration, just for maximum hype)

I'm very curious what Ep 3 will bring. Other than Inquisitor Island, I think we've already seen most of what was in the trailer, so I'm curious whether we'll return to Daiyu/Tatooine or see new places, and what other new characters we'll see before we inevitably reach Vader.

Edit: Also wanted to give a shout out to the Asian Jedi who died at the very beginning. Couldn't see her face, and she dies a few moments in, but that's still the most we've ever seen of a live action Asian Jedi so. That's something ^ ^;
