Oh no, here it comes. No good comes when Minho starts a sentence with 'If you had to choose'.

"Which member would you fuck?" He finished his question and left you speechless.

Part 2

I have over the last 5 months watched all 15 seasons and the immortality special of the original CSI. I have no plans to watch the reboot anytime soon so I thought I would info dump my thoughts, and if love to know how others feel. I will now present a very very long post with breakdown some quick thoughts on the seasons, more thoughts on most of the characters and a few ships.

Tldr: I really enjoyed CSI as a whole and I'm sad to say goodbye to a formula and some characters I've really grown attached to. ( And If there is a good Nick Stokes written into immortality fic please lmk)

Seasons:

I do think the early seasons the most fun/ light hearted, which feels weird to say when it literally opens with Sara investigating Warrick for negligence. I kinda wish I had blogged along or something so I could be more detailed in my response about them.

Like a lot of shows I think it really hit its stride in the middle seasons. If I had to pick a few seasons to watch it be 5-7. It also helps that I had finally gotten used to the lighting.

I think the 9- 11 stretch is too serious, don't get me wrong there were some bangers but overall not great

12-15 they were better and back to a little more fun, and I think the series kept its footing pretty well in its final innings. It was no golden era and I felt really bad that Catherine got demoted but I really enjoyed it. ( Well ok I really wasn' a gig harbor arc fan)

Immortality was a fine special, although I don't really feel like it stuck the landing. Part of that will probably become obvious when I talk about my character and ship takes but I also just felt the case could have been better. It's the freshest in mind, obviously, so I will say I really loved having Catherine and Grissom back and if anything I felt like it gave good closure for them and to a lesser extent Sara.

Characters( kinda in the order of their exit):

The lab rats: Bobby, Mandy, Archie icons every one of them. There is a world where Wendy, Hodges and Henry get their own sections but I feel like they would appreciate being in this group. Never pushed into too much melodrama their characterization, always great at their jobs. I would love to grab drinks with any of them

The cops: Brass will get his own sections but to summarize my feelings on all the others. They did their job and I love that for them. They almost never overstayed their welcome but they also aren't the reason I'm watching this show. The only two I would want to get drinks with are the should have been lesbian Sofia Curtis ( she almost got her own section but then i got lazy) and the best uniform in the business, the man, the myth, my man officer Mitchell.

Warrick Brown: My smooth talking gambling king. He was definitely missed after his death. While I didn't love his characterization in the greda Arc, I usually really enjoyed his dynamic with the team and his drive to the job. His death was the closest I came to stopping my watching. His skills with kids are underrated ( probably cause Nick and Catherine are so good) and I do have a say on top of all his intelligence and skills at the job he is so handsome. I think he might go a little too hard for me to enjoy getting drinks with him but I would still do it.

Gill Grissom: My second favorite Dr. Bug ( sorry no one can beat Jack Hodgins) he really is the smartest person on the show. You can always feel his passion for science which is lovely. While sometimes out of touch or oblivious he is usually incredibly kind. I liked his tie to the deaf community. You can pull the fact that he is Demi from my cold dead hands. In a lot of the ways he was the heart of the show and it definitely shows when he left. His relationships with Catherine, Warick, Nick and of course Sara were well developed. I would kill to get a drink with him just to listen to him talk science.

Riley Adams: she gets a section as it is rude for me to not mention a character who was in the credits but she's fucking white bread milk toast. Would not bother getting drinks.

Raymond Langston: I love his relationship with Robbins and I think he's incredibly smart. But I just think the show gave him way way too much too quickly. I mean just compare it to the fucking effort Greg put in to reach CSI or that as new CSI 3 there was a long stretch where Nick didn't get his own cases. I appreciated his complex background but he brought with him the Haskell arc which was just too fucking long and serious. I would get a singular glass of wine with him.

Catherine Willows: What a girl boss. And I mean that is all the best and worst ways. I really love her at her best but man some of her lows are just.. no fun. She is absolutely vital to the show's success and 9/10 times she is out there taking no prisoners and careing for her team. Just you know wish she hadn't shown her daughter a dead body or faked a crime scene with a new guy to name some examples. She could drink me under the table no doubt.

Jim Brass: While never my favorite character I always appreciate seeing him on my screen. Competent enough to hang with the scientist and still be a good cop. I appreciated how dedicated he was to his daughter but Just not personally my vibes. I would get a drink with him but uhh maybe make it non alcoholic cause it's unclear if he needs sobriety help.

Julie Finlay: She's sweet and very very good at her job. If she had come earlier on she might be one of my favorites just my top 3 was already filled. She brings a good balance back to the team, and she has a weird level of breaking and respecting the rules that I enjoyed. She very quickly had such a good dynamic with all the returning favs that there are moments I forgot she was so new. She's got big Bi & Poly energy. I know the actress wasn't coming back but I would've paid to see her interact with Grissom. Sad that she died off screen but also kinda glad they didn't end 15 with her completely dead. I would absolutely get drinks with her, probably mimosas despite my dislike for them.

Morgan Brody: eh shes fine. I feel like despite everything she still comes off as naive. I love her relationship with Eklie and Hodges but overall she left something to be desired. Nothing that I super disliked but I do kinda wish some of her screen time went to Sara or someone else.

D.B Russell: he was honestly a breath of fresh air, well until he wasn't. I think I just love Ted Dansion for one but also I felt like Russell was a beautiful balance between caring and professional. It was nice to have a supervisor who was actually kinda good at politics. I love that he actually cares for his kids and loves his wife ( although I was informed by my mother that he is divorced in Cyber). I do kinda wish the kept the bit where he laid on the ground as a body but mostly cause I found it way funnier than it is. I really hated the gig harbor killer arc and I felt like a large reason is it made him too serious. I would get a drink with him, but honestly I'd love to have a full meal with his family

Super Dave: what a lovable but weird dude. Genuinely a great example of how you can blend strange comments with kindness and consistency to create a great character. I would love to grab a drink with him.

Doc Robbins: What an honest man and in the running for the best M.E ( up there with Ducky and Cam). I'm glad he mostly stayed out of the drama and appreciated that he was always thorough, even when people were occasionally questioning his own work. Not kind to a fault but definitely empathetic. I would 100% grab a drink with him.

Now to the top 3, the best of the best, the ones who were in for the long haul.

Nick Stokes: Whether it's the sweet Texas accent and big bown eyes or the fact that he's the longest running main cast member I do think he is my favorite. Empathetic and kind, almost to a fault, he is also a man's man who can hold his own against the worst criminals. The show put him through the absolute fucking ringer but he still leaves with a smile on his face. Even when he clashes with other characters I feel like he resolves the problems better than other people. He definitely could have benefited from good therapy but I still love him anyway. His skills with kids are so nice and grounded in his backstory. Loved that he became the new big guy. Occasionally they try and paint him as a bit of a player but given he sleeps with like 2 women over 15 seasons it doesn't super add up. This is definitely the queer in me talking but he gives huge repressed Gay energy. Like a lot of his early arc is about graining confidence in himself. Not to mention,his relationship with Warrick and Greg are so filled with undertones and honestly let that man get fucked and some of his problems might go away. Anyway. So I guess more power to the actor for not coming back for even a cameo but I really really felt the lack of him in immortality. So If anyone knows a fanfic where he's there lmk I would read that shit in a heartbeat. Would get drinks with him, would die for him.

Greg Sanders: I love rave going lab rat Greg. I love the new CSI trying to prove himself to Greg. I love mob history author Greg. I mean he's got to be one of the most intelligent characters on the show- he's good at science and history- and it never makes him come off as rude or entitled. I think his shift from lab rat to CSI, whether intentional or accidental, is well built. He is criminally oh I mean so so so criminally underutilized in immortality. I dislike when he's angry and there are certainly episodes where he feels off but overall he's just so lovable. Disgusting hair choices but hey at least that was a consistent trait. His relationship with Nick and Sara throughout the whole show are really great and after 15 seasons they really do feel like they've been a team for 15 years. He gives Huge Bi energy so I would take him to a gay club for drinks and dancing.

Sara Sidle: You can call her a problematic fav all you want but she's a bad bitch and everyone should love her. She is so great at her job and she never lacks humanity. The show kinda lost track of her exact backstory at some point but I don't care too too much as she stays strong willed and passionate the whole show. Her will to never quit and iconic smirks will stay winning forever. I have thoughts on her relationship with Grissom but bottom line she knew what she wanted and got it. Her friendship with all the main cast, particularly Greg and Nick, is really lovely and shows how she has grown and changed over 15 seasons. Because I actually care about continuity I would not get an actual alcoholic drink with her but non alcoholic drinks aplenty would be had if I could meet her.

Ships:

Listen I don't have a real finger on the pulse of what ships are popular as this show finished airing 10 years ago and I was trying to not be super spoiled.

That being said

GSR: I'm not super into Grissom/ Sara ( side note I know the Internet was a different place 20 years ago but who picked GSR as their ship tag), but I'm also not against it. I think they have a big "match my freak" energy which is nice but. I don't know I just feel like by the end of it Sara could do better. Like she gave up the lab director for the guy who asked her for a divorce. I still think it's better than some other options just you know not like my otp. 8/10

Catherine/ Warrick: I think that the flirting was all fun and games and then if became too much. Let's be honest neither of them are built for committed relationships. Probably would have been better then whatever the fuck was happening with Warrick and Tina. 5/10

Catherine/ Vartann: its canonical and like they were fine I didn't hate it didn't love it. Probably better for Catherine in the long term than any other of her potential ships 6/10

Nick/ Greg: idk if this is super popular but it's my otp for the show. They seem like they bring out the best in each other. Nicks more clean cut natural could balance out the more chaotic ature of greg. Obviously with the era the show was made in I don't think that there tension was intentional but it's still there. From the name that chemical compound game to working together until the end of really think they would be great. 11/10

Nick/ Warrick: I had to mention for the just two dudes who have homoerotic tension energy but ehh Warrick dose really read straight to me in every other context. 3/10

Wendy/ Hodges: ehh they give straight white couple who should have just talked about their feelings. 4/10

Hodges/ Henry: is this a real ship? idk man, But it's an friends to enemies to lovers I would love to read. 6/10

Morgan/ Greg: ok part of this is the my ship bias( see above) but I did not like them together. Their flirting is not good, his anger at her kidnapping too extreme, idk I Just really feels like they operate in different levels. 0/10

Morgan/ Hodges: I actually thought this was really sweet and was super said they went with the parents dating thing. I think they understood each other on a really fun level and that they brought out the best in each other. I loved how supportive they were of each other even in seemingly poor decisions. 8/10

Finn/ D.B: I would assume that this is the popular het ship for the them but uhh D.B is so happily married and Finn ( much like Warrick and Catherine) doesn't really give monogamous relationship. 0/10

Finn/ Sara: 100% queer women projection but uhh just imagine post divorce Sara figuring out her identity with Finn and they try friends with benefits but then need more. 6/10

Y'know what? I was sitting in a funk, thinking thoughts, and I thought: y'know what'll get me outta this? Listening to a mutual talk about their passions, passionately.

So, tell me: top 3 Revival moments that aren't MSRy. I wanna know layers. I wanna know intrigue. I wanna be GRIPPED by your love for that series. >:DDDDDD

thank you for this dream assignment. okay. *cracks knuckles* let's begin. i don't know if these are my *top* 3, but they're the ones that come to mind immediately.

1.

I'll start with one that you may argue is still msr, but this very specific bit is not, so hear me out. I'm talking about Scully in "Plus One" coming to Mulder's room asking him to hold her. This is all about Scully and the lessons she has had to learn the hard way about using her words, and about taking that big risk of showing vulnerability. For me, we can go all the way back here to season 2, "Irresistible," where she is shaken up to the point of going for a counseling session where she talks about herself in the second person, and then admits she doesn't want Mulder to know how much the case is getting to her. That's not about Mulder specifically. That's about Scully wanting to prove herself to her brothers as a kid. That's about being a woman in a male-dominated field - both in science and the FBI. She knows her weakness can be used against her. So putting up a facade has become second nature to her. It is also important to note that she *does not* open up to Mulder at the end of "Irresistible." She has reached a breaking point. She still doesn't talk.

In "Plus One," she asks for help. Once again she is shaken up by a case to the point where she has trouble handling it. But she is able this time to admit it. And I'm sure that is a hard-earned skill. Yes, she can open up here and ask for help because it's Mulder. But that she's admitting *at all* that she is struggling, and not even that but *asking for support*? That's big. And that has something to do with their relationship, but also not. That's Scully having learned that being scared is okay. That's Scully being more settled in her own skin, more confident, knowing her own strength and therefore being able to drop her defenses occasionally.

2.

In "Ghouli," the scene where William is on that autopsy table and Scully, thinking he's dead, explains to him all about his adoption and how affected she was by it. It's an important moment because I always felt like they completely dropped the ball on that in season 9. She gave up her kid, after it had been her biggest wish to be a mom for so long, and then the next time we hear about it is when she talks about it with Mulder in his jail cell for one minute. In between, she seems completely unaffected by it. It comes up again in IWTB, which I really liked, but I always felt like they owed Scully a real *moment*. A real moment to live in that pain and acknowledge how that changed her life and how really fucking difficult it was. As heartbreaking as that moment is and as much as I tend to simply ignore the William storyline, I think it was important.

3.

This is not a moment per se, but you know I have to mention the sushi episode. "Rm9sbG93ZXJz." There, I even looked up the proper title. It's a lot of moments in that episode that make up the whole of it. I love the creepiness of it that's created through the complete absence of other people. It's isolation dialed up to maximum. That's obviously a social commentary, but to me it's also an X Files commentary, if you will. The whole show, it's been them against the world. Very little backup. Just the two crazies from the basement. And here, they're not just isolated from the rest of the world, but for all intents and purposes, the world seems actually *empty*. Even though this episode stands somehow outside of canon to an extent, to me it's a ~vibes~ summary of the entire og myth arc. They have no one. They can't trust anyone. Everything is against them and yet they keep fighting against an enemy that seems omnipresent and undefeatable. I will talk about this episode for days if I don't stop now, so I'll leave it at that.

You felt tears down your sculpted cheeks as you watched the live camera. The soldiers were spreading gas and bombing hometree.

You felt betrayed as the man you were sleeping with said he will not fight the Navi and try to coexist. He lied to you. You despised that old man and found him unattractive. But you had to take advantage of his attraction to you for your science research.

You felt as if you were going to throw up. You slept with a man who just committed genocide. You sobbed as Navis were wailing as the big tree crumbled down.

"Unplug the link." Selfridge announced.

Norm yelled. "You cannot do that!"

Your good friend and others tried to stop the soldiers from removing Grace and Jake from their pods. Norm punched one of the soldiers and was handcuffed. You felt courage and then, you punched him on the nose. He yelped in pain and clutched his face.

That's right you punched Parker Selfridge.

Miles Quaritch came with a victorious smirk. He hated those ugly Navis with passion. Fuck them.

He promised his soldiers he would pay for their drinks the first round at the bar to celebrate.

But, he wanted you to join him at the party.

"Colonel, Name is detained with her friends." Maria Walker walked up to him.

"Why?"

"she attacked Selfridge and tried to stop us from releasing Sully and Augustine from their pods."

It took awhile for the Colonel to process this info. He blinked then guffawed. He head arched back revealing his Adam's apple.

You punched his boss? You had some balls. He grinned. Quaritch hated Selfridge. Selfridge was a spoiled simp. Ugly and pathetic. Just rich. No talent or leadership skills. Quaritch hated how Selfridge would yell at him in public.

"well, well." The Colonel drawled. "My influence eventually turned you from a good two shoes to a bad girl." He flashed you a smile.

You were laying your head on Grace's shoulder and sitting on the bench in the prison room.

You didn't say anything but lowered your eyes. You looked as if you were crying. Quartich shook his head. Why do care for those savages so much?

He opened the prison glass door and stepped in.

"come." He grabbed your forearm.

"she is not forced to be with you anymore." Grace pulled you back

"she will not go to earth unlike you three." The colonel clenched his teeth. "she's staying with me."

An argument came out. Yelling and cursing. Eventually the Colonel as usual won. He dragged you to his room

The Colonel locked the door and went to Selfridge. Selfridge had a bandage on his nose. He was pissed at you. He told the Colonel that he fired you. The Colonel told Selfridge you will not work anymore but will stay with him.

Selfridge had to give in to his colonels commands but told him he doesn't want to see you anymore. Colonel being the controlling man he was, didn't mind. He didn't want other men looking at his woman anyway.

He found you sitting with your head hung low.

"Selfridge fired you." He grinned.

You looked at him. You already knew.

"but you will stay with me. I will take care of you."

You felt tears go down. "You're a murderer. A bad person."

The colonel said nothing then nodded. "I don't care what I am. You will stay with me. I refuse to let you go back to earth."

"our deal is off. We don't need each other anymore."

The colonel yanked your hair to make you look at him. "You belong to me. I did it for humanity's sake. One more word and I will have no choice but to submit you to my whims. I will tolerate your spoiled attitude." He hissed.

Your spirit was broken but became worse when your three friends and Trudy escaped the base. The Colonel came to his shared room with you and punched the wall. He then raped you. And would mock you. Saying that if they were your friends, they would have took you with them.

You sobbed at the fact. Maybe you didn't have friends. The colonel would watch you with pity. He sighed. He now felt regret telling you that. Maybe he shouldn't bully you.

While the day went on, you were allowed to be in the soldier's quarters. Like the cafeteria, gym and all that. You were banned from the science labs. You were so lonely. Lyle would try to cheer you up. But you could just cry.

Luckily, you still had friends in the lab who knew of your forced relationship and situation. They were driving a plan. And you can help by seducing the colonel again

MARWA (WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (TV SERIES)) (CW: Mind Control)

1.) okok so a major character (nandor) uses a genie wish to bring back the 37 wives he had when he was human (he’s a vampire who was turned in the 1400s but is alive in the modern day) to pick his favorite to live with and settles on marwa. she’s established as someone who’s passionate about science and mathematics, but nandor uses his genie wishes to essentially mold her into his perfect woman like a doll, from changing her hair color to making her not want to go to the night market with him to making her like all the things he likes. this culminates in him LITERALLY TRANSFORMING HER INTO A BRITISH MAN NAMED FREDDIE and that is her send off from the show. the treatment of her is disgusting i’m sorry for ranting i love wwdits but honestly the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth

2.) WHERE TO START my god. Marwa is introduced into the story as one of a crowd of women who are interchangeable to the man summoning them, WHO IS HER CANONICAL HUSBAND but he gives less than half a fuck about her, which is played for laughs. The writers made it completely unclear whether she is a real person or basically a magical simulation with no inner life and did not bother to clarify that at any point. Her plotline consists of her husband using magical wishes to modify various aspects of her body and mind and the writers never explore whether she is aware this is happening or not, much less how she might be experiencing it. It is a terrifying psychological horror story from her perspective but we are not given any insight into her perspective so who cares I guess!! For example, he wishes for her to have a rounder ass and then wishes that all of her preferences align perfectly with his own, so that she'll stop nagging him about wanting different colored flowers at their wedding than him. There are SEVERAL more examples. Her experience of having all of her desires replaced with her husband's desires shows up only for jokes, plus one moment that is used to confirm that her husband's real love interest is one of the other male leads in the show. (I ship the two male characters, I'm not complaining about that, but like COME ON SHE WAS A HUMAN PERSON ONCE AND SHE IS LIVING IN A HORROR MOVIE AND THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH THAT???) THE WORST PART is that when it's time for her to exit the story because her body and personality have already been essentially replaced by magic and she is now a boring toy, she is LITERALLY PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY transformed into a random British man so that her husband can have that guy as a love interest instead of her. She (he? It? Again it is never NEVER explored whether Marwa is like, alive inside this British man's mind somehow? Or if she was ever really alive in her body?) moves to England to be in love with the original British man she was based off of, so basically her twin. This is also played for laughs. Her entire personality and body are not even killed off with like a death scene but literally ERASED FROM REALITY AND REPLACED WITH A COPY OF THIS SHITTY WHITE DUDE.

3.) (Context: Nandor is a vampire who has been alive for a while. When he was human he had 37 wives. (Btw some of the wives were men but that’s besides the point.))

She was brought back to life (along with a couple others) via Djinn wish just because Nandor wanted to have a ‘wife’ (some of the ‘wives’ are men). After being deemed the ‘best wife’ by Nandor she is the only one left alive. It is clear the entire fourth season that Nandor doesn’t care for her much and she is only there because Nandor wants to be married to someone. He ignores her wants and interests the whole season. Via another Djinn wish Nandor makes Marwa like everything he likes so she is more agreeable with him. Later on, he meets another character’s boyfriend named Freddie. Nandor basically falls for Freddie immediately and via Djinn wish, wishes Marwa to be exactly Freddie. :| With that wish, Marwa is effectively gone. She now looks and acts like Freddie. The two Freddies meet and after freaking out a little (and some magic) they get along because they like the same exact things. By the end of the season both Freddies are sent off to never be seen again. Also, Nandor has some extra Djinn wishes so he could’ve turned Marwa back but he didn’t.

MIKOKO SAKAZAKI (KAIJI)

1.) She is one of two (2) women with a speaking role in the manga (which has been ongoing since the 90s), and was the first female character to appear at all. She has a crush on the protagonist, Kaiji, but this is treated as a joke/ as gross because of her appearance. She is meant to be ugly because of the size of her nose and lips and therefore is invalid as a person. She has no role other than to pester Kaiji with her crush, and despite him ignoring or acting weirded out around her constantly, her attraction to him never fades. She gets almost no characterization outside of this and is only seen once after Kaiji leaves, where she is drawing a manga where he comes back to her. When she's shown once in a bikini, the sight is so disgusting to the protagonist that he sprints away at full speed. Despite this, she is sometimes used in ads for the series.

If there’s one thing about your girlfriend, she was passionate about her work. Years of making big discoveries in science and sleepless nights in her small apartment at the time brought her to own her very own company to continue making big discoveries in her field. Not to mention shaping the future scientists of the future.

You honestly were proud to see her getting the recognition she deserved. But there were also time where you wished that she took some time to herself to relax, spend time with you but overall you knew that work was her passion, you being her other passion as well. Being the one to support her all those years when everyone else had doubts about her theories.

She never took off any days, only took off the major holidays in November and December. You had tried to talk her into giving her body a break before she crashes but being the stubborn woman that Olivia is, only failed.

So now here you were, Halloween nights in your shared apartment with a small amount of candy left from giving trick or treaters in your lap while a silly rom com is playing in the background.

“ more candy for me,” you mumble to yourself while checking the clock, but sad to see your girlfriend isn’t still here but from checking her location she seemed to be on her way back.

It doesn’t take long before her driver leaves her at her apartment complex, the woman leaving a hefty tip before running inside to the building. She was happy at least that traffic wasn’t too horrible for Halloween night, just barely getting back home before midnight.

You wake up from your slumber right as she opens the door , a smile on your face seeing her.

“ So what’s this you say about candy?” Olivia asks you as she approaches you on the couch.

“ we have enough to eat for a week babe,” you pause as you give her a kiss,” maybe you can give the interns some candy as well”.

I am an ancient hermit living in the suburban deserts of Colorado. Before becoming a hermit, I've did time in the publishing industry, but mostly greasing wheels, not the fun stuff.

What You Write:

What genres do you write in? What age ranges do you write for?

Action, adventure, comedy, contemporary, drama, fantasy, horror, paranormal, psychological, sci-fi, thriller, and tragedy. New adult and adult.

What genre would you write in for the rest of your life, if you could? What about that genre appeals to you?

Science and Speculative fiction. As a queer person in the ADHD propaganda generation, something needs to remind people there is still hope, anger and passion in the world and that experiences cannot be commodified.

What genre/s will you not write unless you HAVE to? What about that genre turns you off?

Mystery, because I just feel like I am not smart enough to make it mysterious. YA because I'm not sure how. Younger children's books because… I like to say fuck. : )

Who is your target audience? Do you think anyone outside of that would get anything out of your works?

Lost, lonely, angry people who like space queers and the occasional jackass. Yes, I think people will get it, especially if they just walk in expecting a good time and not a world shaking adventure.

What kind of themes do you tend to focus on? What kinds of tropes? What about them appeals to you?

Apparently hope? The more I read my own writing the more I realize I write about 9/11, culture wars, fighting against an enemy everyone thinks is dead because 'you won' some arbitrary battle. Tropes are hard for me because I am old. Disaster duos are my favorite one that I can say for sure.

What themes or tropes can you not stand? What about them turn you off?

Very little turns me off - especially if done with taste.

What are you currently working on? How long have you been working on it?

Second book of what might end up being a trilogy. Book is called Starrender, coupled to Silvermoon. I started writing it in 2021. Book 2 I started in May of 2022.

Why do you write? What keeps you writing?

Creativity is compulsory, is my understanding of it. "I just work here," is how I describe it to other writers. I wish I could explain, but for me it's… therapy, escape, fun, joy. What keeps me writing? Me.

How long have you been writing? What do you think first drew you to it?

This is a hard question because I have written as long as I can remember. What first drew me too it? See the above answer. Creativity feels compulsory. I have hyperfantasia, my day dreams are vivid, strong and indulgent.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Is that how you got your inspiration for your current project? If not, where did the inspiration come from?

The easiest answer to this is dreams. My current set started as a dream and was fleshed out with my co-author. Something brand new, shiny. It's evolved a lot beyond that, especially since that dream was from 2013. Other inspiration comes from spite, I suppose? Did I write a trans wizard novel for obvious reasons? Yes. I still haven't made peace with that decision though, I wish I had spent that year working on something I loved more.

What work of yours are you most proud of? Why?

The one I'm publishing in March 2023 - Terms of Light. Above all other things, I feel like it's a love letter to myself and to my spouse. It took me so long to find what home should feel like and I think this really embodies that journey.

Have you published anything? Do you want to?

Yes - and yes. Self published Terms of Light (March 2023). I have been querying and trying to hook an agent since 2013 - no luck so far.

What part of the publishing process most appeals to you? What part least appeals to you?

Trad pub - A marketing team. Self pub - control Both - A physical book in my hands and the ability to hand a book to someone. It's a strange phenomena but when you tell people you have been published and aren't able to hand them a physical book, they get strange. They've done whole studies about it. The perception of something available as free is lesser, even if the content and quality is not. I truly don't care about the money, I care about accessibility to stories that might not make it because they're not "on brand." (Read in 2014, LGBTQ+)

What part of the writing process most appeals to you? What part is least appealing?

Writing is appealing to me. I love it. I hate editing. I don't know why, but much like I dislike revisiting shows, books and other media I've visited before, editing has the same kind of yuck to it. Trying to get over that.

Do you have a writing process? Do you have an ideal setup? Do you write in pure chaos? Talk about your process a bit.

Process is not something I think I would call what I have but… Since most start as a dream, I have a Dream Theater folder. Outline usually comes with the initial brain dump, and by outline I do me, high level, not too detailed vagaries about what's happening, cool things, and notes and thoughts. From there, I wait for a first line to hit me and… write until I'm out of steam. I can usually rock out the first 10 - 14 chapters of something in a month to two months depending on how hot the writing fever is… the middle slog does take it's toll on me. After Draft 1 is done, I force it on some poor alpha reader, and come back in a year when I'm potentially ready to edit it. Editing is it's own thing. I have no process for this, I don't know if I ever will.

How long have you been a writeblr? What inspired you to join the community?

About a year. @winterandwords inspired me, I'm in a Discord server with her and she told me it was "better now."

Shout out some of your favorite writeblrs. How did you find them and what made you want to follow them?

@winterandwords - Because they are an absolute delight. They write everything I've always wanted too and it is a visual and emotional FEAST in my mind. @sergeantnarwhalwrites - That guy rocks, what an encouraging soul! With a great sense of humor. Delightful. No idea how I found them, but glad I did.

What is your favorite part about writeblr?

Interaction!! Even if it's light, it's nice to see some things get notes. I feel less alone, even though I am also able to control my experience a bit more so I'm not inundated with activity.

What do you think writeblr could improve on? How do you think we can go about doing so?

This is a hard one because… short of having more time in everyone's day to read and respond, I don't think things can be improved with what we have.

How do you contribute to the writeblr community? Do you think you could be doing more?

I react, I reblog, I respond when I can. I follow writers that have the same vibe and try and lift them up when I see they may not be doing great. Can I do more? Sure. If I had the emotional energy and time.

I know you're not really passionate about OPLA, but. I there two actor who "rumored" Will cast as Crocodile around internet. And i wanna know your opinion about them. They are Oscar Isaac and Joe Manganiello, what do you think from your personal taste?

For the record I'm not really into IRL celebrities/actors, and don't know jack shit or who's who or what they've been in. Like had Oscar Isaac not being in Fucking Star Wars (an extremely mainstream giga franchise even a dumbass like me would be vaguely familiar with) I wouldn't even know who he is. Like Manganiello. Who the fuck is he? No fucking clue. That sure is A Guy I guess. Point is. I don't know anything about celebrities or actors, I understand rocket science better than this

And... I do feel like I just struggle trying to picture actual people in the roles of cartoon characters, like I have some kind of a disconnect there, putting the two together in my mind.

Like looking at some photos of the two actors, I may be more inclined to go with Oscar Isaac because I have a vaguely easier time picturing him as Crocodile (based on photos where he has black hair that's kinda slicked back), but like. That could also be just the bias of me being vaguely familiar with the actor where as I have no idea who the other guy is at all???? So??? I dunno man I don't know what to think I'm sowwy 😭

Honestly the coolest thing OPLA could do would be to cast a trans man as Crocodile but I may be delulu wishing for that (And I'm not saying that for Crocodad Propaganda or my evil Queer Agenda either, it's just that trans actors can struggle getting roles in general and so giving such an important, starring role to a queer person would be poggers as hell. Like generally speaking. And like, Crocodile doesn't have to be trans for a trans actor to be assigned for his role. But if Netflix feels like they "need" some kind of an "excuse" to cast a trans man as a character who is ~supposedly~ cis, Croc being trans being a highly popular, widespread and well-known theory on its own would be enough of an excuse for Netflix to just go for it imo)

It's funny about the homeschooling thing: I had friends who were homeschooled and I cannot express how badly many of us wish our parents had the means to do so.

I was sick so often (bad immune system, endometriosis before they had a term for it) we had to go to court to defend ourselves for "truancy." I had straight A's. When I was there, I swept the tests. But they want you there in person, or else.

To not have had to wait in the cold or blazing heat without gear because poor and our parents had to be at work at 6am......

I know there are plenty of parents not cut out for it or who weren't trained and would give a subpar education, but wouldn't it be great if as humans we had so much time on our hands that we COULD?

Like every adult had so much time they could educate themselves on at least one or two subjects until a little human comes around and then Get Excited to tell them!! About the thing they learned!! Some adults really like space, some love crochet or woodworking - to see all your teachers (adults in your community) passionate about subjects and to have the freedom to express your own like or dislike or take breaks when you need to without judgement? To work at your own pace?? God I want for that future. Also tech can cut down on infections/flu and illness spreading because idiot schools INSIST on keeping 100's of students locked into tiny rooms with poor ventilation. Our school wouldn't let us open the windows during the heat of summer. Because reasons?? Note, we didn't have air conditioning.

so here's the thing: although i was homeschooled (really, more "no schooled" than anything), i was able to teach myself on the internet. when i was growing up, the internet was just really taking off (jesus christ i feel old saying that) and it enabled me to really just kind of teach myself whatever i wanted. so as i grew older, i grew more resourceful, more digitally literate and crafted my own education.

now the downside to this is that if you want to go into a highly-skilled field or something like science, mathematics, etc. that kind of thing is hard to pull off in a home setting.

for instance, i had absolutely no science "classes" during my school life because the amount of equipment and knowledge needed is far surpassed what my truck driver father and leasing agent mother could provide

keep in mind, i didn't have tutors. i didn't have in-house teachers. it was my fucking dad teaching me between his time working from 3 PM to 1 AM and my mom checking my homework when she remembered and after she got home from work at 5 PM. most days, i didn't have "school." i slept in and did whatever i wanted throughout the rest of the day. luckily, i was addicted to knowledge regardless, so it all worked out for me.

i'm not opposed to the idea of homeschooling, i should stress this. i won't necessarily go to the extremes of calling it child abuse or something like that. but i do think it's wise to remember that a school has entire staff dedicated to teaching your child and that perhaps it takes some hubris to assume you can fulfill your kids learning needs the same way that a staff of (hopefully) trained professionals can.

i think homeschooling is more possible than ever in the current digital world that we occupy. but my parents definitely didn't have the time, money, patience or any other of the valuable resources that you need to teach a kid from 1st grade to their senior year of high school. especially in the late 90's, early 00's, which is when i grew up.

and the problem is often that most parents don't actually have these resources, but still think that they're more than capable of meeting all of those needs that i mentioned before. unfortunately, this ends up hurting their kid the most when they go out into the world with absolutely no clue how to function in it socially.

Are you named after anyone?

Oh this is a fun one. So, the name I picked for myself after coming out as trans comes from the character Ellie Williams, from The Last of Us. I almost named myself 'Emma', after the Japanese name for Lady Timpani from Super Paper Mario. My deadname, which I won't share for obvious reasons, comes from... I think my great grandpa? I'm not 100% sure. Something like that. And my dad almost gave me the name Jean-Luc, after Picard, y'know, Star Trek, or Jean-Claude, after Jean-Claude Killy (although I suspect this was just a failed cover story to try and convince my mom to go with Jean-Luc).

What sports do/have you played?

I don't, uh. I'm not. I'm not very physically active these days. In high school they rotated us constantly between soccer, softball, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and I think MAYBE football? I was terrible at all of them, y'know, vision/coordination problems and whatnot.

Both, neither, and everything in between. Movies are good. Have you seen The Boy and the Heron? You should go see The Boy and the Heron. Also Paprika. Paprika is really good. I wish Satoshi Kon had lived long enough to finish Dreaming Machine. Actually I just wish he hadn't gotten cancer at all. Fuck cancer.

I'm pretty good with OBS, and tech stuff in general. I enjoy streaming, and people seem to think I'm pretty good at it.

Not at the moment, but I kept a few fish as pets as a kid, and the last place I lived had a local colony of stray cats that me and my dad would feed and look after.

5'2" in real life, my V-Tuber avatar is supposed to be either 4'11" or 4'9", I'm not 100% decided yet.

Favorite subject in school?

Probably the classes where we just got to fuck around with computers. But if I had to give an actual answer, probably math or physics? If we include university, probably the classes I took on VR, UI design, and product design, or the cognitive science class I took that was about the intersection between cognitive science, society, and popular technology.

Dream job?

Honestly, anything where I'd get to apply my interests in both technology and internet media. Whether that's working on software for streaming, working as an editor or a writer at a tech YouTube channel, working at a video or livestreaming platform like Twitch or YouTube... Alternatively, maybe working on VR software or hardware? Just as long as I'm making a good income, working on something I'm passionate about, and with time to spend on my hobbies.

An exhaustive fic progress report of all my current WIPs for those interested (edited because I forgot some):

Stranger Things fic:

nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone - I actually have most of chapter 5 written and know how the chapter will end. I'm just stuck on the scene where Max goes over to Dustin's house. I'm still not sure how close to canon I want to play it. One day I'll rewatch Stranger Things and get back to this, but I think I need to practice writing mystery and action some more so I can really do justice to bringing my plans for this fic to life

The Dragon's Bride - So in the covid brain fog I forgot where this fic was going last year. I wasn't keeping detailed notes about it so I'm just kind of trying to recreate what I want to do with this before I post anything. I have been working on the second chapter though. Overall I want it to have soft Ghibli film romance vibes

JJBA fic:

Houses of the Holy - The orphanage chapter is so hard to write. Why did I think writing out Caesar's whole life story was a good idea??? He doesn't even meet Lisa Lisa until chapter 3! Making up backstory from scratch is haaaaard. My hubris knows no bounds.

had to fall in love - ah band au my beloved. I fucked up the timeline and haven't felt like fixing it yet. I might just pretend I meant to do that all along and just keep writing. Then I could fix all the dates and ages at the end. This fic is a hot mess but It's fun.

Wonders Never Cease - this sci fi au is even more of a hot mess. God I'm a disaster. Don't look at me.

Unpublished WIPs/ideas (also JJBA):

Hotel CA - Caejose pwp set in a world where vampires have overrun the world. Caesar is the leader of a little group of humans taking shelter in an old hotel with a crumbling sign. Joseph sneaks in to Caesar's suite disguised as a woman in the hopes of seducing Caesar into a false sense of security before he reveals his identity. Of course Caesar knows it's him immediately and is curious to see how far Joseph is willing to take his ruse.

Bring 'Em Back Alive - a post-PHF five-years-later fix it endgame Fugiomis fic where Fugo and Mista team up on a murder mystery mission in a Passione-run nightclub where the ghosts of their shared past are disturbed and they fall in love with each other. I'm having trouble juggling the OCs for this one. I think I have to write a more immediate post-PHF fic to establish the villains' motivation better. The playlist is already up on my fandom Spotify though I may change some of the songs around.

i wanna be a slut - this one is named after a Pansy Divison song. It's basically just modern no stands au poly!mista fic where not all Bucci gang is dating each other but Mista ends up either dating or friends with benefits with all of them. Not much angst just Mista gets to be happy and carefree and have a lot of love in his life.

idk what to call it yet I've been calling it figure drawing au or michelangelo nudes - Modern au, no stands. After Mista gets fired from his latest job because his manager hates him, Fugo offers to pay him in cash if he agrees to model for a project Fugo is working on. It's all so Pretty Woman that Mista kinda can't help but fall for Fugo, who is gorgeous and sensitive and brilliant, but Fugo is such a sad lil rich boy he can't imagine Mista wants him for anything more than his money. Mista's just so handsome and so good at living in the moment defying expectations to do whatever the fuck he wants; he's everything Fugo wishes he could be. I just want to write the Fumis romcom of my dreams where Fugo is a PhD student and polymath good at different forms of art and science and Mista's a himbo. I deserve this.

another college au draft where Mista and Narancia are roommates who don't realize they're pretty much dating. Giorno invites all his friends to a house party at his mudad's house. Narancia gets drunk and finally makes a move on Fugo, who gets offended Nara seems to be trying to cheat on Mista with him. Idk this one might never see the light of day tbh but you know I love the Torture Dance Trio so maybe

Phantasmagoria - Fugio gothic horror au where Fugo's parents give him to Dio for mentorship and Fugo quickly learns Dio doesn't actually practice law all that much and his house is fucked up. He meets a cute boy he only ever sees wandering the halls at night

Uh the draft is called Gothic Horror Pillar Men in my drafts but it's more of a bodice ripper type story. It's about Joseph being locked in his grandma's estate awaiting his upcoming marriage and interacting with the strange men who prowl the courtyard looking for something at night. Not sure if I'll ever finish this one but idk. The wedding rings play into it a lot but they're not poison in this au or like inserted into Joseph's body.

ooh this is a fun one!! sorry if i end up writing way too much here lol

ATLA

1. Zuko - So much of my taste in fictional characters has undoubtedly been influenced by him, lol. An angsty boy who was abused and indoctrinated and who struggled so much, but broke free and realized the truth? Who went from trying to capture the avatar to joining him in achieving peace and balance for the world, and who revealed that underneath all of that anger and pain he's really a kindhearted, socially awkward dork? His growth is just amazing and I love him so much.

2. Katara "I will never, ever turn my back on people who need me" of the Southern Water Tribe is such a great character and I love how her rage at the world's injustice fuels her empathy, compassion, and drive to do as much about it as she can. She fought against misogyny to become a master waterbender. She saved an impoverished Fire Nation village from tyranny. And she's just so loving and optimistic despite everything she's been through.

3. Azula - Delivered SO many of the most iconic villain lines ever. "Don't flatter yourself, you were never even a player." "Maybe you should worry less about the tides, who already made up their mind about killing you, and more about me, who's still mulling it over". "I'm about to celebrate becoming an only child." She's such a fun villain. She's also fascinating to me because, as many people seem to forget, she is younger than Zuko and was raised in the same horrible environment as him. I love seeing her character be explored more in fics.

4. Sokka - The best possible way to write a comic relief character! He has so many hilarious and memorable moments. "Can your science explain why it rains?" "My first girlfriend turned into the moon". The fucking cactus juice. But he's also strategic and intelligent, and Sokka's Master is such a great episode for showing how the gaang would be incomplete without him. He has such great dynamics with all of them and the scene in The Runaway where he talks with Toph about Katara filling in the void that was left by their mom makes me so emotional.

5. Kyoshi - Okay, I won't say much about her because not everyone has read the novels and they're 95% of the reason she's up here for me. But seriously, her story in the novels is so cool and she's such a good character in them. She's every bit as fierce and badass as we see in the show, but we also see that she's compassionate and doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same hardships that she has. She has her own struggles and growth before becoming the badass that killed Chin the Conqueror and founded the Kyoshi Warriors. And she's bisexual and has a girlfriend!

LOK

...Okay, I won't write an essay here like I just did for ATLA. Partially because I don't really have the same passion for LOK as for ATLA, but I do still love the characters! I think my top 5 would be:

1. Korra - Idk how people can hate her, her personality reminds me so much of Zuko and I love her for that. I also think she manages to have the best character arc in the show, and she's a bicon!

2. Bolin - He's just so fun and I love his dynamics with the rest of the krew! And lavabending is so damn cool and I wish it had been explored more. I also really wish we saw some flashbacks of his and Mako's backstory because it's such an interesting concept.

3. Jinora - Something about her is just neat, her personality feels so unique among the LOK cast and I'm so proud of her for becoming an airbending master.

4. Asami - No way I could leave out the other bicon in this series! I feel like she did kinda get done dirty by the writing and, like with Bolin, I particularly really wish we got some backstory flashbacks for her. But I do enjoy her arc with her dad in books 1 and 4 and love how intelligent and creative she can be.

5. Kai - I really wish we saw more of him in the show, his backstory and personality are great and he and Jinora are so cute together.

Peter Parker as Aya Drevis

- The 11 y.o. son of the Parker family. Loves his father and (deceased) mother very much. In fact, he loves his dad so much he's more than willing to overlook all the unethical research the man very unsubtly conducts in their basement. Not so willing to overlook Richard fucking someone who's not Mom tho;

- May have inherited his parent's.. passion for science and casual attitude towards human and animal lives;

- On the night of his mother's death anniversary Peter finds his father mysteriously gone and their house overrun by monstrous creatures (some living, some undead), the fruits of Richard's many years of labour, determined to take their revenge against the Parker family;

- And then, with only the power of Love and a child-sized chainsaw on his side, he sets out on a quest to a). find out what the fuck happened and b). find and save his Dad, of course;

- Makes his way through the mansion helping some of his dad's victims to find peace and their souls to move on to the next world and inflicting horrible violence on others.

Richard Parker as Dr. Alfred Drevis

- Part-time respectable researcher, full-time mad scientist;

- Spends his days in his basement lab with his assistant creating chimeras, both purely out of animals and with human components;

- Thinks Peter would make a great test subject once he's grown up just a little bit more;

- One day, Richard makes a mistake by talking about his plans to experiment on Peter within Mary's hearing range. When his wife, disgusted by his willingness to use their child as a guinea pig, threatens to take Peter and escape, Richard kills her, telling Peter her death was an accident afterwards;

- Snaps completely in the second half of the story, decides that the time to make Peter into a chimera has come and begins chasing him with a chainsaw.

Mary Parker as Monika Drevis

- A woman so unhappy with her husband's life desicions that she decided to come back as a ghost and drag him to the afterlife with her;

- A long time ago, Richard's disregard for medical ethics and willingness to commint atrocities have bewitched her body and soul, but turning their own child into one of her husband's experiments is just too much;

- She's the one who cursed their home, ressurecting all of Richard's former test subjects and freeing the ones that were still alive;

- After Peter disrupts her plans and drags Richard back to the real world, she tells him what his father's real plans for him are. This causes Richard to lose whatever sanity he had left and go after Peter immedeatly.

Curt Connors as Maria

- Richard's assistant/lover;

- Struggles between his loyalty to Richard and his wish to protect Peter;

- imma be real with you he's supposed to have a tragic backstory that explains how he became richard's assistant and why he's okay with killing people but i honestly have no idea what it could possibly be

- After Richard goes on a rampage looking for Peter and Curt fails to find the boy, Richard attacks him with a chainsaw, cutting his arm off and leaving him to bleed to death;

- Peter helps him take care of his wounds, they commiserate with each other on their loyalty to the man who does not care for their lives or well-being and make a promise that they will get out of this together;

- Later, when Richard captures Peter, Curt kills the man.

Gwen Stacy as Robin

- At first she came to the Parkers' mansion as an apprentice to Richard, but in the end she became one of his test subjects;

- A spider-human chimera, has multiple spider-like eyes on the right side of her face, which she hides under bandages;

- Revived by Mary and tasked with aiding and protecting Peter;

- Helps Peter avoid the more hostile undead, and tries to convince him to flee the mansion with her. Peter refuses because he Needs To Save His Dad;

- She's the one who sets fire to the mansion in the end.

The Hat Man From Post-Credit Scenes as Ogre

- Shady guy in a hat just walking around, being shady, making shady deals with other characters;

- What's his deal? Is he human? Who knows!!

Freddy the Mouse as Snowball the Rabbit

- Peter's pet!! <3 Accompanies the boy on his journey, helping him solve various puzzles;

- Technically, not the first "Freddy" that Peter had had. Previous ones may or may not have died at the hands of their owner.

THE ENDING

As the mansion and Richard's corpse are consumed by flames, there are three figures standing in the front yard. Gwen and Peter say their goodbyes to each other and Gwen asks Peter to never forget what transpired in this horrible place and to always remember those whose lives were taken by his father. With these words, she kisses him on the forehead, giving him one last blessing, and watches and Peter and Curt leave together, on their way to find a place to build a new life.

As years pass, the two settle down near some faraway, secluded town. They open a clinic where they provide medical care for free for those who need it most and everything is Good :] There No More human experimentation and Curt Does Not see more and more of Richard in Peter with each passing day :]

This is a Good ending :]

why does everyone hate maths so much? it’s english that is being an absolute bitch. no matter how many times i stay passionate for my work, i would always end up failing in some way or form. they say that you can never be wrong in english, but i literally have to do the gcse for the THIRD FUCKING TIME.

it’s literally a definition of a friend that you would give so much love and time to, just for it to blow up in your face and make you a failure of a human being. It’s literally the worst lesson in college and i’m so desperate to pass already so i can stop going to early english classes whilst my computer science lessons would be in the afternoon.

I think the fact that English is such a broad subject and really up for interpretation is what makes it so hard cause you kind of have to guess what the teacher actually wants from you. Like other than the things that are facts you kind of also have to be a bit of a psychic to determine what will actually pass or fail. I really think they should either give exact guidelines on what they want I mean to the smallest detail cause they do grade on the smallest damn detail or truly be open to the interpretation of the students.

English as well as Creative Writing were my favorite classes, well creative writing more so English has potential, I actually wished English was harder cause my teachers were like cool young teachers who catered to the kids who weren't as advanced as others in the class. So we'd have to read like the hunger games and stories about gangs and stuff and like I wanted to learn Shakespeare, learn more about Plato, and the basic English books like to kill a mocking bird and the catcher and the rye. The teachers wouldn't even entertain my asking to watch Pride and the prejudice on movie days, not even Anne of Green Gables was acceptable and that's like 7th grade.

And Greek Mythology but they said the history teacher was suppose to teach us that then the history teacher said the english teachers are suppose to teach us that. Who is it? I want to learn greek mythology. The history teachers didnt even teach us about the salem witch trials, I already knew all about it but I wanted to take tests on it. Had to learn everything by myself I had lunch in the library. By lunch I mean I ate quickly then went to the library till the bell rang. Lizzie Mcguire, Boys Meet World, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Saved By The Bell all lied about high school. I even took drama to learn about and perform Shakespeare, all we did was watch whose line is it anyway everyday.
