Every time I see any post about Sebastian from Stardew Valley, I absolutely devour the content. I don’t tend to obsess over a lot of fictional characters so I really wish I knew what it said about me psychologically that this man, this angsty, frog-loving, mildly antisocial, video game husband has me giddy. (My IRL partner is nothing like him?) What’s the science behind this!

8. better left invisible - colour of the trap - theres so much to say about this good lord- i just love it so much *coughcough more milex*

7. rearrange - colour of the trap - ive listened to this exactly 100 times, if you havent danced around your room to this on full volume youre doing it wrong

6. inhaler - colour of the trap - literally inspired the entire vibe for my current wip fic (pinned post ahh!) the bassline aswell- good lord

5. dont forget who you are - dfwya - this song has a very special place in my heart and it has got me through more than i can admit

4. before it's midnight - b-side - sooooo underplayed but christ its such a gorgeous song and it is very firmly stuck in my head ahh

3. wrong side of life - coup de grace - another heart breaker, literally start bubbling every time i hear it oh my god

2. telepathy - colour of the trap - um oh my god? love it love it love it (also milex coded ahhh)

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded psychopath happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

there is something unique and deeply special about monkey d luffy as a protagonist. he’s overwhelmingly ADORED by the fandom. he’s consistently the most or at least top 3 most popular characters in the whole series. peoples takes about him are gushingly positive. and that’s… really uncommon.

a LOT of fandoms i’ve witnessed or been in have a tendency to favor characters other than the main character. especially in anime. the main characters are often written as a blank slate for readers/watchers to project onto, but that makes them not as interesting and so they don’t get the fan attention.

but luffy is so far from that. and he’s ALWAYS been this way. we love him so much. he’s the heart of the story and the heart of the fandom in every single way. and i think that speaks to how well-written he is as a character. he’s fun and charming and complex and interesting and he makes us laugh and cry and cheer and hope and love. he’s able to inspire so much joy in people, both in his world but also in this one. and i think that’s really special. i feel so grateful to have found this story that means so much to me, and i’m so grateful that luffy exists.
