I think if there's one thing to take away from Kanye's latest... confession... it's just how central antisemitism is to Naziism
like
Kanye is a Black man. Given the opportunity, white Nazis would shoot him with the same bullets they aim at Jews. He is not in good company. But he's willing to align himself with people who hate him because he just hates Jews that goddamn much

When your best friend is a bilblically accurate angel
Tumblr media
They are all in the same situation guys (Yes I headcannon Pix as a watcher, since the Empires x Hermitcraft crossover hghgh)
They are three stages of one expierience
Mumbo: confused, shocked, kinda uncomfortable when around Grian in his full form, starts getting used to it
Impulse: Used to it
Sloy: Literally. Doesn't care. "You're a watcher? Cool."
Also this meme
That's the vibes I get from them
Tumblr media
Ngl "My best friend is a biblically accurate angel" sounds like a good movie/book title

there is something to be said about how the two major “socially inferior” characters—wei wuxian and jin guangyao—were shown to be extremely skilled at people-reading and cognizant of the social, hm, dynamics throughout the story. not in the same exact way, of course. wei wuxian’s social competence was about knowing how to approach people and endear them to him and knowing what to ask to receive what he wants, usually in terms of information. jin guangyao was amazing at anticipating other people’s needs and what they want to hear and thereby delivering things in a way that would placate them.
i bring this point up because these were two characters granted the least amount of social grace and yet the expectation was that they must maintain the niceties or be deemed singularly arrogant (we see this happen with wei wuxian because he does end up going openly against the sects; where behaviour previously considered unobtrusive is now labelled as attitude problems lol). i mean, while i do commend wei wuxian’s attempt to present his request about the wen remnants to jin guangshan with politeness, it’s also so bafflingly out-of-place in a situation where he’s rightfully calling out the unfair atrocities the wen remnants were being subjected to. jin guangyao’s entire character is built on his specific method of rising through ranks using his honeyed tongue and ability to not let the naysayers get to him. “son of a servant” and “son of a prostitute” are thrown at them and these tags can reduce everything good they have done for the cultivation society in the blink of an eye because they are, infact, considered to be valid criticism of their character. it’s the dichotomy of it where jiang cheng and nie mingjue and jin guangshan can be crude and aggressive and predatory and receive, at most, hushed criticism but have their authority intact, while wei wuxian and jin guangyao’s very standing is threatened by the callback to their social status. how they are forced to be so aware of people and their ways of thinking and make all these interpersonal considerations while the other characters are allowed to be way less self-aware about their behaviours in social settings because their position was never threatened to begin with. how wei wuxian’s “manipulative” abilities and jin guangyao’s “cunning” were products of their treatment by the cultivation world in the first place.

treading delicately here because there is much fun and whimsy to be had, plus i don't want to speak for anybody. but as this pherson of the year tourney proceeds, can we all just be extra cautious and gentle and supportive and mindful of the fact that there are humans behind the blogs, and those humans didn't ask to be a part of this and now just have to be cool about it? and they're all so smart and funny and creative and essential to this space! so idk yeah let's just be. thoughtful? there are no winners or losers on phannie tumblr we're all just doing our thing here building something weird and wonderful and fun together <3

every so often i remember that the fandom alpha/beta/omega dynamic (modeled, I assume, from the maladaptive behaviors of wolves in captivity) would in fact be MUCH more relevant and realistic if it were modeled after the natural social behaviors of chickens. and if we weren't cowards

Okay but like, Elphaba calling Glinda “darling”…like Glinda buries herself into Elphabas embrace in tears and Elphaba holding her as tight as she can going “I’m here, darling; I’m here…” and pressing a kiss to her temple. Going insane as we speak

Can we stop picking like certain disabilities to be like this thing we bring up as the standard "lesser" thing or whatever like
Physical disabilities are serious don't treat them like mental disabilities WELL ACTUALLY some mental disabilities ARE serious it's not just all like autism WELL ACTUALLY autism can be serious it's not all low support needs autism WELL ACTUALLY all autism is serious it's not like ADHD WELL ACTUALLY ADHD is serious it's not like anxiety and depression WELL ACTUALLY
It's this endless pointless cycle and it's hell and you can literally just talk about your specific struggles without putting down anyone else's. It's pretty easy actually.

alright alright tabi being the cattle dog that nudges the little calf along on its path. whether the cattle dog knows it's leading the calf or not to its inevitable doom, it does not care. it is doing what it was meant to do and this little calf is its tool, or its friend, or its enemy. or maybe it is just a little calf. nonetheless, it is a cattle dog, and this cattle dog must do what must be done to get fed and watered and to live and be more than just a stray on the street. or a dog with a rifle pointed at its head.
this cattle dog does its job so it can curl up comfortably in the dog bed and not be chained up outside in the rain. this cattle dog does what it must to feel love and care, sweet words and gentleness, and not harsh insults, yelling, and a swipe. or was it a slice? or a stab?
well, all living things crave comfort. all living things need it. what is so different about this cattle dog? is it the way it does it? is it the way it herds the calf along, clueless? why is it so different from the man who works and works and works to live comfortably? why, this is simply how this cattle dog works. and who punishes hard work?
tabi is the cattle dog. she works to eat, to drink, to sleep, to live and not just survive. she lived before, she wants to live again. and so she does her job and she herds.

I can't stop thinking about the post from a few days ago about how Critical Role has been great at doing personal faith but didn't put the necessary work in to discuss the religious/god angle of c3 in-depth. Like the fact that Cardinal Respa was linked to both the Dawnfather and the Chained Oblivion is, on a personal level, very interesting (fallen/corrupted priest goes hard) but like does that mean that there's a Papacy somewhere in Exandria dedicated to the Dawnfather? If so, are there more cardinals who ordain the bishops of the Dawnfather? Are there Conclave-level intrigues going on in the Dawnfather's Sistine Chapel? Why is the Dawnfather so Christianity-coded in vibes alone if there's no actual outline of his religious organisations? With Downfall the Dawnchild/Dawnfather thing makes the allusions to Christ as Son of God co-existing with the Father textual - was there a Dawnfather Schism around whether the Dawnchild was a separate mortal? Was there a Reformation about how the Dawnfather's Pope kept selling indulgences? Is that why the priest of the Dawnfather Grog & Pike offer a drink to doesn't partake because of a cultural shift between Protestant-Temperance-League-coded and Catholic-coded Dawnfather congregations? Why do I have so many questions about the religious organisation of one of the most important Prime Deities in Exandria and to Critical Role's 3 campaigns? How on earth were the cast (and us as the viewers!) meant to care about the gods if all they had were "really tall kings" instead of interrogating how religious organisations provide both a place of healing and community to a wide range of people and also a place of horrific harm and abuse for a wide range of people?
#cr meta#cr discourse#critical role#it's just. maddening#i mean a college of cardinals who can all shoot god a quick dm and ask who's the best for pope is an absolutely hilarious image#makes for a great comedic setpiece tbh#but like seriously matt if your whole multi-campaign story needs people to have strong feelings about the gods beyond how they personally#affected them (keyleth vex and ashton come to mind as people who were negatively affected by certain gods due to personal reasons)#it might be a good idea to develop the religious organisations of these gods! let people see how these things work out instead of letting a#vibes-based approach to christianity rule the whole discussion! kord's whole deal about strong people is fascinating! are his priests all#body builders? do they have a central hierarchy based on strength? we don't know!#are the wildmother's clergy pro- or anti-alcohol? does she even have a clergy?#or are all the religious temples we have seen just set dressing because religious buildings in the real world just have cool designs?#is it because in fantasy the trope is that most protagonists don't care about religion and their temples are literally there for vibes?#i'm aware i'm getting way too close to stan-parasociality on that last point but if we have a cardinal “do we have a pope” is a logical#follow-up question. i'm aware there's not that much info in the campaign guides so that gms can do their own thing but in the#“the gods deserve to be eaten because they were mean to me” campaign surely a more interesting line would be “do the gods deserve us if#their organisations cause systemic harm as was done to bor'dor and........"#can you tell i don't want to do any actual work today. i sure can't#and yes i'm main-tagging this if people are hostile to me on the internet for this buddy there's a phenomenal button i'd like you to meet

What is the Yiga Clan Hierarchy Like?
The Yiga Clan Hierarchy is almost like a bunch of bananas.
Tumblr media
At the very bottom of the bunch, we have Footsoldiers. Though they rank very low, they make the foundation of the Yiga Clan, and are very important.
Thank you Footsoldiers.
Next, we have Blademasters. They start as Footsoldiers, and go through special training to learn new techniques and tactics to lead Footsoldiers.
Thank you Blademasters.
AND AT THE VERY TOP, HAVING THE VERY BEST FOR LAST, WE HAVE THE GLORIOUS MASTER KOHGA. YES, ME, THE GLORIOUS MASTER KOHGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM THE VERY TOP BANANA.
You may ask, "Glorious and esteemed Master Kohga, how do regular Yiga such as myself reach such a high status as you?" and the answer is...you can't. This is because I am IMMORTAL and I WILL FOREVER REMAIN THE TOP BANANA.
And are there any other rankings in the Yiga Clan?
I believe that this is the right time to have a moment of silence for my former right hand man, Sooga. Sooga stuck with me through everything, thick and thin, but unfortunately he wasn't immortal and died. He also had great abs, the second greatest abs (after my abs).
May he rest in peace.
Glory to me.

since wolf 359 is a show that puts so much emphasis on names / what people are called when / "first name moments", it puts hera in an interesting position that she only has a first name. you could maybe say the closest thing to a first name moment that she gets is in idle hands, when eiffel regains his mind, but the connotations are still a little different - it is an indicator of closeness / a significant relationship, but it isn't a shift in that relationship. i think part of the significance of first names - for anyone, when used sincerely - is the subtext of speaking to the person rather than the job they perform, but hera's name has additional stakes and significance for her when being called by her name is the baseline level of respect indicating who sees her as a person at all.
so, with that context, the other moment that interests me is the only time someone ever addresses her by rank: when minkowski calls her "officer" in let's kill hilbert. from minkowski in particular, that's also an acknowledgement of her personhood - evoking "she was a member of my crew." and i don't think this is just an honorary title bestowed by minkowski, either; in the most technical sense, i think hera probably does have a rank on the station. hera's programming restricts how she can address station officers. commonly, she addresses minkowski and lovelace as "commander" and "captain" when talking to them, and "commander minkowski" and "captain lovelace" when talking about them, while most other people she tends to refer to by both name and rank. she drops kepler and jacobi's titles after the mutiny.
but eiffel she calls (both when talking to him and about him) "eiffel" and "officer eiffel" interchangeably. (she never calls him just "officer.") in a practical sense, this helps communicate that her relationship with him is more casual - and in am i alone now? when she's talking 'to' him but not really to him, she calls him "doug", which has a whole other set of implications for how she thinks about him, when in that same monologue she still says "commander minkowski" and "doctor hilbert." - but… i think it's also pretty reasonable to assume that her rank is functionally the same as his, and that part of why she's more comfortable with him even early on is that he quite literally does not have the same authority over her that everyone else does.

also in the same way you have to see armand choosing the coven over louis as him deciding between two options he sees as bad, believing one is not viable, and committing to the other wholeheartedly (hence him directing the trial and just generally playing an active role in madeleine claudia and louis's executions) so too must you view his decision to stay with louis after the trial as him realising the coven is not a viable option for him anymore (because louis kills them all) and committing to louis wholeheartedly instead because he's his only other option.
