Bamon Fics

Before I Take My Flesh Away by Orig1n - the fic where Bonnie and Damon are comically bonded, and she hops around in his timeline pre (and during) the series. Tragically unfinished, but completely incredible! Kudos for developing Stefan and Damon as brothers and making me not hate Lily Salvatore. Also love the Arthurian lore.

if you love me (don't let go) by sarcastic_fina - this is a heartbreaking deconstruction of Bonnie and her victim mentality, and shows the strength of not only her romantic relationship with Damon, but her friendships with Caroline, Matt, and Tyler. So sad, but so good!

Bloodstone by cactusfinch - Bonnie time travels to 1864 (with all the problems entailed). Her relationship with Damon is done well here, and her friendship (sort of!) with Katherine is fun as hell.

rest for the wicked (hope for the weary) by castelia - Damon and Bonnie go on a road trip together after the prison word. I am a sucker for mutual pining, and this fic does it so well!

Fifty-Five Years by turningofflights - written from Elena's perspective, after she reads Bonnie's diary entries and learns how Bonnie and Damon fell in love. A bittersweet, believable love story for Bonnie and Damon.

Other Bonnie Bennett Ship Fics

The Edge of Night by Szajnie - a crossover between season 3 of the Originals and season 7 of the Vampire Diaries, where Bonnie goes to New Orleans. She's absolutely in her element here as the most powerful New Orleans witch, takes the supernatural world by storm, and everyone has a happier ending because of it (including her!). Absolutely love her friendships with Davina, Vincent, and Freya, and shout-out for being the only fic to make me care about Cami! Truly, this is great. The NOLA gang is the family Bonnie deserves, and the Bonnie/Klaus is so believable.

Kai Parket Screwed Us (Until Bonnie Bennett Screwed Him) by hysteriaww - exactly what it sounds like. Bonnie shows up to help Josie and Lizzie deal with the prison world and her and Kai's insane relationship weirds everyone out. Deals with the Gemini Coven in a really interesting way. Hilarious, and with mild Damon and Alaric bashing. BonKai.

Season One, Epsidoes One-Three by BorgiaBabe - a rewrite of the first three episodes of TVD with Bonnie as a proper main character. Her love interest is a softer Kai, and it's great! Bonnie really deserves better.

the night light hits off, turning kisses to bites by donutworry - an insane, dark, twisted Bonnie and Kai romance, where they're the only ones in the prison world from the start. I absolutely love the Gemini Coven lore in this fic.

Klaroline Fics

Make them bow by for_darkness_shows_the_stars - Klaus appears in season 1 of the vampire diaries. it's Klaroline, but still super gen, and all the characters get their own compelling arcs in it. Especially love the way Elena and Stefan are written.

One of A Kind, Two of a Kind, or the Three Musketeers by Phandancee74 - Caroline is an ancient nymph who was erased from memory by Malivore. She still helps the Mystic Falls gang out (and her relationship with Bonnie is great)! The Klaus/Caroline is angsty and lovely.

Calling on a Friend by Phandancee74 - 5 year old Josie gets Klaus's number. Shenanigans ensue. Short and cute as hell.

Sanctuary in their Hearts by thatsanotherlovestory - Caroline leaves before the season 8 wedding, and heads to New Orleans with Klaus. A fun story, but still so sad Bonnie didn't get her happy ending in it. The twins are so cute in this.

Let's do the Time Loop again! by kcatdino - on the night of the sacrifice, both Klaus and Caroline get stuck in a time loop. It's so funny to watch them get more and more deranged.

sweet present of the present by VintageLilac - it's Caroline, not Rebekah, who raises Hope while New Orleans is at war. I absolutely love Katherine in this fic, and though Hayley gets the short end of the stick it's written quite well.

The Wolf by Yokan - a witch version of Caroline is the one pregnant with Klaus's baby in the originals. And while season 1 doesn't change a lot because of it, the later one's definitely do! I love the Klaus and Caroline relationship, and Caroline & Elijah friendship.

Elena Gilbert-Centric Fic

The stars were brightly shining by adlyb - a fic where Elena is pregnant with Klaus's baby. It's so hard to describe! A little twisted, a little sweet, and a thorough depiction of Elena's mental state.

The Forgotten by MissNMikaelson - Elena time travels and gets dropped in the middle of Klaus and Kol's war in New Orleans, circa 1914. The flashback scenes in the fic are great! Eventual Kol/Elena.

blame it on the stardust by allwritenow - the fic that looks into if Elena's doppelganger nature affected her more. And a truly beautiful Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena friendship.

Off by a Single Degree by Tarroko - when Elena's phone dies, Damon walks her home and never compels away her memories, and her parents never die. This softer, sweeter Elena is so believable, and I love the way canon immediately shifts. Amazing development of her parents, Anna, and Enzo. Delena.

Katherine Pierce Centric Fic

afflictions eclipsed by glory by passionesque - in 1864, right after the fire in Mystic Falls, Elijah finds Katherine. They team up together against Klaus. This deals with Katherine's trauma and cunning so well! A slow build to Elijah/Katherine, involving him acknowledging his faults.

General Mystic Falls Gang Fics

in another life (i would let you go) by sarcastic_fina - Elena wakes up in a world where she isn't the doppelganger and no one knows her. An interesting deconstruction of the affects she's had on her friends.. Manages to be both Elena-bashing and sympathetic at the same time. Minor Steroline and Bamon.

Originals Family Feels

It All Comes Crumbling Down by AlwaysAkin - can I do a self-rec? I'm doing a self-rec. Hope is born a century earlier, and grows up in New Orleans with the Mikaelsons. I'm particularly proud of my Hope-Marcel bond and young!Hope voice in this one.

A Twist Through Time by fandom_lover_101 - Hope is sent back in time to the Vampire Diaries season 3. She messes everything up. Absolutely love the slow Hope & Klaus relationship built here, and her friendship with Elena is cute too. Minor Klaroline, Delena, and Handon.

Always & Tomorrow by Viretta - another tragically unfinished fic. Set after Hope jumps into Malivore in Legacies, it involves the dead Mikaelsons being resurrected, and the kids from the Salvatore School travelling to New Orleans (with a newly activated tribrid Hope). This is a Mikaelson family story in the bloodiest, best way. Has Handon and Klaroline in addition to the canon originals couples.

if no one in the entire world cared about you (did you really exist at all?) by nevermore_evermore - Elijah is erased from the minds of everyone he loves. Kol is (eventually) there to help him through it. An interesting take on Elijah's place in the family.

A Million Mistakes by mon-amour-eternel - a fic where Caroline is also an original, and her and Klaus are Marcel's parents. Sadly unfinished, especially considering the rarity of Marcel-centric fic!

But Stand Brave, Life-Liver by crownjrose - A Hayley-centric fic! Her foster parents come to New Orleans and see the way her life turned out. Interesting closure for Hayley, and a sweet Klaus/Hayley relationship.

Kolvina Fic

(finally) you and me are the lucky ones by yorkes - a long one-shot where Kol and Davina are soulmates. It's cute as hell! And Kol and Davina really grow into each other in this one.

The Vixen and the Fox by BlueBooThalassophile - be warned, this read is long as hell. But it's also great. Davina time travels to the Vampire Diaries season 4, gets involved in the fight against Silas, and everything goes sideways immediately. Love Davina's friendship with Hayley and bond with Marcel in this one. Every character in both shows appears in this one.

After a few days, our boy is finally here! Because Arthur needs some more love than what he actually gets in this series.

Arthur gets a simpler redesign this time, fixing those funny-looking bangs to look more natural and changing his eye color; something about the purple eyes didn't appeal to me. The simplicity of Arthur's design mostly comes from the fact that, when we meet him, he hasn't pulled the sword from the stone yet and, therefore, is not the king of Camelot. The outfit makes him relatively unassuming to others and represents his more peasant-like upbringing while still having an air of sophistication curated by Merlin's influence.

While I was absolutely thrilled when Arthur showed up in canon, it felt extremely sudden and almost out of nowhere. Plus, Arthur just kind of seems to exist in a borderline vacuum and just sort of... does things every now and again? Basically, I wanna add more substance to him.

Therefore, Arthur is getting an actual plotline and arc this time! He gets insecurities about being king, which he probably discusses with King, who has a similar character arc in this rewrite, and we actually get to see his relationship with Merlin. I imagine he and Elizabeth could have a nice friendship, too, where she helps coach him on how to better suit the role of royalty once he gets crowned king of Camelot. As for the neck scars, I've decided that Arthur gets to have some traumatic backstory this time that isn't just his adoptive older brother being mean to him. You know, as a treat.

I also plan for him to be a bit older in this rewrite, probably about 18/19 or somewhere around there. He's not totally a kid, but he's still very young to be a ruler of anything; plus, it makes more sense if I decide to go the Zelthur/Gelthurdris route since, I will admit, those ships had me in a chokehold for a while back in the day and could be really sweet and tragic if played right. We'll see how things go.

Why do you want to fight BEN from treasure planet?

Oh boy. LEMME JUST RANT A LIL’—

He’s just rather… abrasive? Granted, Ben in the original Treasure Island was also loud and obnoxious, but I think the difference between them is the tone they both brought to their respective stories. Ben from Treasure Island was funny in that he said outlandish phrases and kept trying to touch people (which I admit I LOVE that they kept about B.E.N.), but his character wasn’t ever explicitly used for comic relief. He was more tragic that comedic, even to the very end of his story. Jim at the end of the book tells that he spent all his money at once and was homeless again in just a few weeks. It’s funny-ish, because you’d think he’d be a bit smarter with his money after being marooned for 3 years, but mostly it’s tragic because he’s still wandering and poor with no one, even though all that treasure was rightfully his.

B.E.N. on the other hand is blatantly used for comic relief, which I really don’t think was necessary. It’s not like the story was exceptionally dark up till then. Captain Amelia’s dry wit, Doppler’s bumbling earnestness, Jim’s teenage sass, Silver’s crude pirate-y commentary, and even Morphy are all plenty of fun! They seamlessly inject comedy into the story without taking you out of it. But when B.E.N. is funny, it’s just “WOOO HE’S CRAAAAAAZYYYYYY” comedy. Granted, a lot of his one-liners are really funny! I quote him often, even though I don’t care for him very much. Nevertheless, some lines just feel out of place in the story, and he acts so much like a person that you wonder why he’s even a robot (he’s robot to explain why he’s still around after 100 years [yes, I get that he’s programmed extremely well. But still!]). For example: “WAS I EVER DANCING WITH A DROID NAMED LUPÉ?!” just SCREAMED out in the middle of the moment when it feels like our heroes are losing. Silver has gone full dark side, showing no mercy; Doppler and Amelia are tied up, apparently hopeless, and Jim is being used as a human GPS, being lead for all the world like a dancing bear (geddit?). If B.E.N. was gonna shout something, it didn’t have to be so uselessly funny. Just him shouting would be inappropriate enough in that moment. But nope, because he’s voiced by Martin Short, Mr. Comedy Man, B.E.N. has to be 80% idiot, 20% accidentally useful. The more accidentally useful a character is, the closer to Jar Jar Binks they are. And I cannot stand Jar Jar Binks.

OPPOSITION: He’s just that stupid because his brain is gone! He’s smart at the end of the movie! — Yes… but he’s still obnoxious. He’s a little better, but talks just a little too long. His “I know you don’t like hugging, but get ready cuz I’m gonna hug ya—“ THAT was actually humorous and kinda sweet. Then when Jim hugs him back, it’s wholesome! But then they have B.E.N. go on to cry (badly) and ask for a tissue—AS JIM IS REALIZING SILVER IS LEAVING. Maybe I’m an idiot, but I thought that exchange was funny and wholesome and I wish B.E.N. had been reeled back a bit in his surprised reaction to getting a hug back. His surprise is warranted, but dang.

That’s all just a very long way of saying that I wish he’d been played a little quieter (still loud, but quieter), and that he’d been more purposefully helpful. Ben from Treasure Island was like a geode. He was crusty on the outside, but showed himself to be actually quite clever (though not financially savvy) and basically secured the treasure all by himself. He just needed a ship and a crew. B.E.N. from Treasure Planet was like a Wish.com quartz crystal. A rather useless fellow dressed up in a shiny comedy crust. “I have to pee!” (A thing robots can’t even do?) —BOOM! Hiding place! “I like this fresh air door I have!” —BOOM! Gateway to the center of the planet. The only time I really like that dynamic is when he’s lamenting that he can’t remember something super important (the booby traps), and then immediately after Jim reinstalls his brain, he’s like “HOLY FRICK THE BOOBY TRAPS—“.

Again, this is all just my opinion! I don’t fully hate him, and he is funny, but I think they over exaggerated him in an attempt to appeal to kids and they just didn’t need to do that! If they’d dialed him back just a tad, I think it would’ve made that last part of the movie feel less like a tonal rollercoaster. What do y’all think?

What made you ship it?

Awakening was my first FE game and I was a teenager, I think I initially shipped it because I thought Chrom was cute and funny. They have the jock/nerd dynamic going on. But now I ship it because I'm a sucker for a good tragedy.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

They're soulmates, they're two sides of the same sword. But Robin is also destine to kill Chrom. I love the idea of soul mates in fiction, individual choice aside, destiny is pushing you to one person, for better or for worse. Especially in a game like fire emblem which deals the themes of choice and decision but what if they don't get a choice in each other? They're Naga and Grima, they're bound together. Romantically or platonically, they're each other's other half. They need each other, they're holding on to each other so tight it leaves bruises. And no matter what, their path lead to each other to their death.

And Lucina and Morgan, my sweet children!! Not only does it make Lucina's past more tragic but they're just so sweet together. Morgan is the annoying carefree little brother who can't remember any of his trauma and Lucina is the big sister who needs to protect his innocence. I totally think Grima got to Morgan in the original timeline and Lucina was holding on to the guilt for years. I imagine she refused to talk about him even when she was reunited with her dad and mom, the memory was just too pain. All the other child units probably knew better than to speak his name. And the relief she felt when they found him, sweet and naive and a child like he once was? A do over on her greatest failure. A second chance to keep him safe. Not only does Lucina get to protect him, but he makes Lucina laugh. He lets her also be a kid.

overall the cutest little romcom ever. it had comedy and chemistry and it was sweet. it was what it said it was

i actually didn’t find that it went too fast in terms of their relationship because it felt like so much had already sort of happened between them if that makes sense? so so so much was said through their facial expressions, like it was insane how much actually? i also felt like the paris sex scene added so much to their relationship because it just felt so ridiculously intimate and i felt the shift into something so much more serious between them

i wished we got a few more scenes (idk why but i wanted david and alex to meet lmao)

again the addition of miguel was something i got? didn’t like it but got it because i think the book leak idea was a little too complex or would have taken too much time to build up (aka too much time away from alex and henry). he was just a bit of a creep lmao

i definitely feels like it will be appreciated and understood so much more by people who have read the book. the idea of them both loving each other before we saw them at the wedding was felt within the book a lot more. the way alex had a photo of henry when he was younger and henry was so taken by alex back then was never said?

i also … don’t shoot me but … didn’t really miss june that much? like nora was fine but even if june was there i feel like she would have had the exact same vibe as nora. basically a sound board for alex in regards to henry but they didn’t delve into their family history or had their parents divorced which again … i kind of get? it feels like they were interested in alex and henry’s relationship more so than the building blocks to their individual personalities and they definitely sacrificed elements of complexity on alex’s part especially

the scene in the book where alex rings henry and just complains about his family is such a little turning point for them and would have been lovely to see in the film but like i said … i kind of get it

henry and alex were perfectly cast in my eyes. henry was so endearing and charming and complex and they nailed all of that and alex was loud and passionate and unapologetically himself

having read the book and found it hopeful and optimistic and so so charming, the film was exactly that too

Anyway Simeon is my favorite guy ever and has been since the beginning I'm completely obsessed with him bc he's literally perfect tell my WHY on gods green earth he's always getting swept under the rug. Why does this man never get any attention and when he does why is he mischaracterized. He's got it all. He's tall and handsome in kind of an ethereal effeminate way, he's sweet and kind but not a pushover, he's one of the most tragic characters in the game, he's the perfect muse for a religious trauma arc, a corruption arc, a "the calm collected one who's always having a good time finally snaps and goes apeshit" arc, I mean come on. Come on. Every time I remember that his main sin is wrath despite him being SO chill and gentle on the outside I want to giggle a little bit. My beautiful princess with identity issues and slutty waist I'm so sorry everyone ignores you

Solomon though. I don't remember how I felt about him at first (other than lots of gender envy) but he wasn't a favorite until I came back to the fandom after being absent for ages. Like damn this man is everything. He's so complicated /pos that I cant even articulate why I love him so much but he's so well written (maybe one of the only ones who are written halfway decently) and SO tragic. The way he's so desperately in love with the mc and is forced to watch them go for literally anyone else but would still do anything for them and ask for nothing but a little bit of loyalty in return is scrumptious. Also the way immortality just kinda fucks you up after a while when you're only human. I've been very tempted to put him in a poly ship with my mc and Simeon bc he deserves it but for now he just has to watch from afar as the man he loves endlessly makes out with his best friend that he also kinda sorta has a little crush on bc making the gays suffer brings me copious amounts of joy. He's also the "always totally calm and collected no matter what but actually has really strong feelings that he works to keep in check" type like Simeon and I love that for him. One of the fics I'm reading has him once become so panicked over the MC's wellbeing that he completely loses his composure. Yelling, trembling, the whole nine yards and it was fucking glorious, I love seeing characters like him break.

Also I have to talk a little about Lucifer. He's not generally a favorite but I just think it's funny how I went from hating his guts bc I thought he was an asshole to to liking him a lot bc I have a weak spot for big brother characters. He loves his family so so so much and just has trouble showing it properly!! He's still an asshole and an uptight prick but I like that about him now. My mc had the same development with him as I did, he went from "I hate this motherfucker I wanna kill him also he kinda scares me" to "this is my big brother we are holding hands :)" in the span of like a year and a half and it's really funny. Lucifer thought he was finally getting a sensible housemate and friend but ended up getting another insufferable, headache indicung little brother figure instead. Also I kinda have a non canon ship between him and my MC's father bc the idea is SO funny but also a little cute bc they compliment each other real well. My mc would become homophobic so fast if he found out and thinking about it is incredibly entertaining

wyper is the reason i made this list. he means everything to me. he is the best native rep i have seen in anime and it hurts me how under loved he is in the fandom. people call him annoying or too violent but he perfectly captures the rage that builds when people have had to live under colonization for generations. he is so close to my heart and i’m slowly starting a collection for him so i can make a wyper ita bag !! i just want to see more of him, whether he show up to say hi to the strawhats every hundred eps or so, or if they cut back to skypeia to show how they’re doing, i just miss him so much. anyone who says to skip skypiea is at best stupid and at worst a racist freak that hates native people.

ooh can i ask what story the girl turning into the spider is from? it sounds sweet!

oh uh... it's sweet in the sense that, even though pretty much everything goes wrong, some things still go right?

Tavra (spider girl) is a very stoic, somewhat blunt and socially awkward, generally grim, only ever laughs bitterly but will gently stroke your cheek and remind you to keep moving forward main supporting character in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance YA books written by J.M. Lee. (mostly in the third one, tides of the dark crystal) (SPOILERS) She's... kinda like the older sister figure / adopted mom / eventual one half of fav OTP to the three point of view characters? Her whole thing is being ready to sacrifice herself and her happiness for the sake of saving people, enduring pain without flinching even while telling others to be careful, repeatedly almost dying and smiling about it....

....except that she really, really, REALLY wants to see her girlfriend again, too. Especially after kinda sorta dying and getting spider-ed.

Her uncharacteristic rashness and nervousness when showing herself to Onica- and Onica's zero hesitation to reach out to the small spider that sounds like Tavra- is the first clue these two are A Thing.

They've been a thing for a loooong while. A forbidden secret romance kinda thing.

Onica turns out to be outwardly the sun to Tavra's cloudy day, except she's actually still VERY angry at Mayrin (Tavra's mother) for being a jerk, and VERY bitter over how Mayrin treated Tavra over their relationship- and while Tavra tries making excuses for her mom the best she can come up with in the end is a damningly faint "that was a long time ago". Which. Well.

Anyway, up till now Tavra has always taken on the role the Experienced And Steady Advisor and Guardian to her new younger friends, but once she's back on Onica's ship (Onica is a single crew sailing ship captain able to dream of things happening far away have i mentioned that?) Tavra starts finally relaxing enough to show some of the stresses she's been under lately, even going off and 'mope' when her attempt at teaching one young friend how not to get killed with a sword goes badly.

(moping is described as Tavra "just being Tavra") (her kinda new little sister is the one saying this) (Tavra can be recognized in any form by her dower frown) (especially funny when Onica is constantly described as laughing and chuckling and wearing a mysterious smile)

So blah blah blah, Onica is a the good kind of terrifying and almost dies, Tavra saves her via the power of gay flashbacks with the help of their new number 1 shipper-

Then Onica's bestie, who is in huge awe of Tavra, tries to push a traumatized depressed disabled woman in the body of a spider into leading all their people in revolution bc she'd be ideal for it- and Onica very pointed says that you can't help others if you don't take time to help yourself before going off to presumably snuggle her sad spider gf.

The two are last seen in the books as Tavra's sorta adopted teen son Kylan-

(who turned her into a spider to save while committing murder despite generally being a pacific presumably bc of the trauma of watch his birth parents get snatched away by murders as a child)

-decides to look at some runes, and Tavra says she and Onica will stay with him.

So. Tavra never gets her old body back, and her mom is murdered, and part of her soul is drained and eaten, and her sisters probably think she's dead- but she also does not die. By the end of the story she is happy with the family she has found, and finally fulfilling her and Onica's promise to someday live their lives as one.

Oh did i mention there's a parallel between her and Onica's secret forbidden romance and the more tragic example that kicks of the whole story?

Did i mention Onica calls Tavra "my love"?

And Tavra was a swordswoman before becoming a spider?

I don't know if you wanted or needed all this info and I don't care, there will never be enough stuff about these two written but by gods i will take ever chance to scream about them

Also, she does want to talk to you (kind of want to write interactions between you two tbh) and learn more about you, because historical records talk much more about Dottore than you. She wants to at least try to understand...

They are living rent free on my mind so let me talk about these two's similar themes and how that fuck me over.

For people who played these two amazing games, its apparent that both character is not well liked, for very good and funny ass reasons.

Their first introduction would make you squeal. The very first moment you met them, they radiate smug asshole energy.

Varre: *Explicityly says how you would die for nothing so easily in the land between. And you being bitchless.*

Heimdall: *Threatening our boy Atreus on a literal edge, wanting to drop him*

Funny ass men have funny as memes.

They look like rats, pathetic rat men. God they are ugly but why are they pretty at the same time? One look dead tired and the other has gold teeth... HOW DID I FIND THESE TWO ATTRACTIVE???

Getting out the shits and giggles

Both are tragic loyal to a fault characters serving a god that wont bat an eye if they were gone. Varré and Heimdall both wanted love and recognition but they let their action speak than their words.

They both got their traumatic experience. Varré being the only one who survived and himself after Mogh kidnapped war surgeons, forcing them to serve him. Heimdall is with a manipulative father that wont fucking hesitate to kill him if he proved useless.

By personality we see, yeah they are a big dick head but there is some good to them. As much as a cultist Varré was, trying to manipulate you into their cult. He trusted you, and he would give the very best from the Moghwyn dynasty.

Heimdall with his insight, is blind from Odins atrocious acts. He at the end of the day, would protect Asgard his home and his family (that is mostly Odin). Can you really fault him tormenting Atreus when he forsaw the childs want of Ragnarok. An event that destroys his home.

Of course there are actions they've done that are unforgivable. We wont shy away from it. You can't be a baby girl without commiting murder once or twice... or thousands.

With their attitude and upbringing, no wonder they are alone. Its basically canon how lonely these bitches are. No friends nor lover (only in fanfic we trust.).

In the end they both died by the hands of the protagonist. Being loyal 'til the end but their gods didn't have much attachment anyways. Their efforts washed away like a snap. Died like a useless pawn, unloved, a discarded tool.

I love how they have so much to give with their limited story/screentime. I must applaud the writers making such interesting, brainrotting characters. They've capture the hearts of many and maybe ruining some. (a.k.a me, they are ruining me and i have a test and all i could think of is them with my o.c. lol.)

These two got released last year with two execptional and astounding games. 2022 is the year of gamer and rat men.

Another day, another wonderful australian tv show without a lick of fanfic to its name. So, in desperation, may I recommend:

Crazy Fun Park. A bunch of child ghosts haunt an abandoned theme park, the newest is our protagonist's best friend. Friendship angst and tragic creepy backstories abound, with a trans character and a grumpy lost-boys knockoff who only wants to help his sister.

Sweet, a bit corny but overall real good. I loved all the side characters backgrounds and overall growth. On ABC Iview (it's free!)

Irreverent. All I found (last I checked) on this were 3 shirtless gifs of the same scene. Worth it though, main character is HOT.

Basically, an american mafia diplomat pisses off his mafia, so he nicks a hundred grand and runs for the first flight he can catch. While making his escape, he meets a depressed reverend and tells him to ignore god and seize his own destiny. Said reverend therefore nicks all his stuff. Mafia man can do nothing but go to the reverend's posting in rural Queensland, and deal with both australians and improv-ing his way through religion. Plus a lot of sexual tension with the local police officer. (She's so cool!)

Incredibly funny, absolutely side-splitting, featuring angry routinely yelling at a man in sandals and hawaiian shirts. I also love how, when he gives his sermons/weddings/funeral services/etc he focuses on the message within the bible as opposed to "this exact line said this so you better do it." My favourite of the three, and I will be writing for it once my wips are defeated. On Netflix.

Ladies in Black (the 2024 show). Set in the sixties, focuses on the ladies and men of a fancy fashion store. Lots of characters of different races, and women trying to get ahead under the patriarchy, all chasing their dreams.

I yell at the tv a lot in this, because of dodgy men doing dodgy things. The main reason I long for more people to get into this is because I ship two of the main characters. Possibly the first w/w ship to truly overtake my brain. They both have good backstories, back each other up, and both try to help their families. And yes, they could be good friends but if you say "if [male-love-interest] doesn't kiss you, I will," followed by giggling, hand in hand, what am I supposed to do? I don't control the brain, it controls me. I haven't actually finished this yet, but I recommend it highly anyway.

The soundtrack is lovely, using period-typical music as well as non-diegetic modern songs. The look of the sets, the fashion, it's all so beautiful and stylish. And that's coming from someone who dresses like a divorced trucker. Also on ABC Iview.

DimiClaude, Dimigard, EdelClaude, LysiClaude and Lysigard? If that’s too many ships at once then how about Dimigard and LysiClaude?

Okay so you have brought up the only two ships that kind of fall into my dislike category. 🙈 So just a reminder that I have no beef with the people that ship them, more power to them and everyone should have fun with their ships. I'll answer quickly for them because I don't want to put out too many negative vibes. The main reason I don't like these ships is because I don't ship Dimitri with anyone but Byleth, ever. That's really what all comes down to!

Dmcl-- honestly I just don't really get this one. I don't think their personalities really complement each other. I worry about Claude's ability to fully open up to Dimitri, esp in the circumstances when Dimitri is still a king. However dmcl artists consistently draw the most handsome Mitris!! And I have several friends that write amazing dmcl fics so it seems like a very creative thriving ship so forgive my lack of vision 🙏💙

Dmgard-- I'll be honest it's kinda my notp. NOT AT ALL because I'm some kind of Edelgard hater, it's because I want them to be siblings 😊 I feel like both of them would get more benefit from family than they would from another romance interest. Besides that, I am a baby when it comes to angst and the ship (in canon) is necessarily tragic which I just couldn't handle.

Edelclaude-- I definitely see the vision after Hopes! I like the push and pull power couple. I think it would take a loooooong time for them to let down their guard, so I especially like the flavor of political marriage -> friendly respect -> love, to give them that time to grow together.

Lysiclaude-- they are funny together, I always saw it more platonic. But shout out to slotumn who has like 300+ lysiclaude fics in every imaginable flavor and is single handedly getting people on board with this ship. The sheer passion has me changing my mind towards them! Their end card is really sweet too. Not only does Lysithea get cured but she also doesn't have to shoulder the responsibility of being a noble or queen. 💙💙💙

Lysigard-- I like this one! They have a similar energy, maybe from going through similar trauma, but I honestly think it's just coincidence that their personalities are complimentary. They are both blunt with high standards, Lysithea even a bit harsh when she's riled. But I can imagine Edelgard just smiling fondly knowing Lys just wants the best for everyone. Shoutout to this amazing Gothic horror-esque fic that I think of often. (Mind the tags)

“I-I’m sorry,” the girl stammers, then steels herself. “Um … my name’s Mikan Tsumiki. I’m the Ultimate Nurse. A moment ago, you p-passed out. I was only taking off your choker to make sure you could breathe …” She braces, as if anticipating a punch. “Th-that’s why my hands were on your … um … your throat …”

This - the first scene in “I DISAGREE: An Ibuki Mioda SDR2 Protag Swap AU,” echoing the first scene from SDR2 - is Ibuki Mioda’s first interaction with Mikan Tsumiki. She sees nothing to forgive. She sees someone trying to help an unconscious stranger, caught in a situation so awkward it’s funny. And endearing.

She decides that they’re friends now.

Bacterial Contamination: Mikan Tsumiki, Ultimate Despair

Less than a week later, Ibuki’s reeling from a disturbing realization. That morning, she’d been thrilled to find Mikan beside her in bed for the second night in the row. She has her own assigned room, and each hotel room has two beds. Yet there she was, subverting that "only one bed" ship fic trope, snug and warm with Ibuki. Quite warm, in fact … Noticeably warmer than the day before …

It’s true. After being in more constant contact with the patients than anyone else, Mikan Tsumiki caught the Despair Disease. That’d be true, I reckon, in just about any universe where she’s the Ultimate Nurse during such an outbreak. And once again, she’s the reason two of her classmates are dead.

What’s different in this AU is that she doesn’t even have to carry out any murders herself. With Chiaki already in a malicious mood and Kazuichi already spoiling for a fight, kicking off the killing game was as simple as opening their doors. The only other necessary task was retrieving a weapon for Kazuichi, to even the playing field. I can’t think of a good idea for how she finds Byakuya’s hiding spot and gets Peko’s sword, but she does (I’m sure glad this is just a series of speculative posts and not a fleshed-out fanfic or a full-on fan game!). Very little work on her part, and very little risk …

Or so she believed. Remember, Monokuma suggested that if anyone died at this makeshift hospital, the medical staff might be considered guilty. When Kazuichi returned from his fight with serious wounds on his chest, Mikan had to patch him up so he wouldn’t bleed out. The bandaging jobs was so professional, in fact, that no one else could’ve done it. Her efforts to save her own skin only gave away her role in the night’s slaughter.

“And she gets to live?” Nagito asserts with surprising coldness. With the trial already over, a new conversation threatens to break out among a group that threatens to become a mob. Once they start asking questions like “Could they even trust her around them?” and “What if she does it again?”, the responses could get real ugly real fast …

“But everything’s okay!” Ibuki asserts. “I mean, not okay okay. It’s all tragic. But Mikan’s okay now!” It had to be like what happened with Chiaki and Kazuichi, right? She only did something so horrible because that’s how the disease would affect such a sweet and caring girl, right? And Kazuichi and Nagito independently confirmed that their symptoms vanished in a snap after Monokuma’s bloody terms were met, so she’s fine now, right?

Ya know … she could be. This is a direction I could go. Mikan would have something to actually be sorry about, a strong reason to hate herself and shun all company. Ibuki could then insist on being her friend, resolute in her knowledge that all this only happened because she’s a good nurse and a good person. There’s room for drama, interpersonal conflict, Hiyoko going beyond her usual bullying into someplace darker, and redemption through love in a victory for hope. It absolves the girl of all actual guilt, making her easier to get behind. Removing the whole “one person murders the shit out of the other thing” also expunges all the toxicity that some people don’t like about any killer-victim ship.

That’d be great and all, and I would love to see an AU like that. But I’m taking this AU somewhere different. I can’t make the path to tsumioda so smooth and straightforward! Partly because I’m trying to stick with DR’s typical reluctance to canonize any pairings (Imposter’s right there too!), but mostly because I love the drama. So I’m spicing things up and making this ship problematic in a completely different way.

"It's all over, so she's fine now, right?!" Ibuki shouts. The response comes: "No, that's wrong!" Although Ibuki’s suggestion makes complete sense, Hajime awkwardly notes one problem. One could read pure altruism into Mikan stopping Kazuichi from bleeding to death - of course the nurse, faculties now recovered, would do anything she could to save a life. But such a severe wound would leave a trail of blood from the restaurant to his room. A trail that could’ve resolved the whodunnit a lot faster if it hadn’t vanished. Someone must’ve cleaned it, and cleaned it so well that they didn’t leave a trace. As with the bandaging job, only a professional could’ve done this so well.

Everyone presses Mikan for an explanation. 13 sets of eyes bore into hers. She laughs. “I was hoping to save this for later …” (I really thought about it!) “... but I can’t avoid it.” Just like in SDR2, Despair Disease hit Mikan differently than anyone else: instead of flipping personalities, she regains the one she had before they landed on that beach six days ago. And as Monokuma confirms, though the cheeky bastard won’t give away why just yet, personalities can flip back but memories regained aren’t so easily forgotten again. And what’s not just like in SDR2 is that they’re stuck with her.

Nagito, placed right between Mikan and Ibuki in the courtroom’s podium arrangement, lunges for the traitor. She breaks out with shocking force, knocking her former patient to the ground, then sprints away at an even more shocking speed. (I love the idea that Mikan’s a fast runner - a necessary skill for evading bullies and pulling off that otherwise impossible murder plot in SDR2 Chapter 3.) Making it to the elevator before anyone else, she exits Monokuma Rock by herself. The rest of the class will have to catch the next lift. By then, she’ll be long gone.

Gone. The person Ibuki had worked so hard to figure out, the girl with whom she managed to carve out some good memories out of some truly stressful days, the kind of close friend she’d hoped to make when she accepted the invite to Hope’s Peak … she’s gone. The thought crosses Ibuki’s mind that maybe that girl was never really there. She shudders.

Yeah, it felt like Mikako's execution was meant for Yamato, but they swapped it last minute because we had a greater emotional attachment to her.

Ah weeby news. I stopped watching that channel because she caved into the pissbabies in her chat that were upset about jokes about the SDRA2 chapter three BDA. I feel like once you cave to those people once, its only a matter of time before they run your channel. Which is sad, because I really enjoyed her content! (specifically her meta because I am a guy with very specific interests.) If you can't stand jokes about corpses, don't play the lighthearted death game that contains both jokes and corpses.

I like Teruya and Haru a lot, but its the same dynamic of Ishimondo that I cannot imagine a platonic dynamic for Haru and Sat.

For most tragic, I am very much a fan of Hibiki x Setsuka and Emma x Kokoro. I also really enjoy Kanade and Hibiki's relationship, but more of the phycological aspects than the romantic.

When I said rewatch DRA, I actually am checking out a new LP! I'm almost to the chapter 1 BDA because of listening to the background while studying! I'm really enjoying it so far, but the LPer does have a phobia of clowns. I hope that when the time comes, she will appreciate our queen despite that! Also its a blind play through, since SDRA2 spoils so much.

Also, she likes Tsurugi and thinks he's the Kirigiri. You sweet summer child you are in for a thing or two :) A comment was also made about Kinji possibly being the mastermind due to how calm he was... while she was talking to Akane. I shouldn't find that funny.
