The Mysteries of the World
Chapter 13: The Headless Horrors
In comparison with some other mysteries, the Headless Horrors are pretty common and not as unheard of. Almost everyone knows how they come to be and to guard their distance in case they get to see one. To be this common, there's no record or mention in any book, paper or magazine of any information different to what everyone seems to know about them. Until now.
For the purpose of writing this chapter I have researched 5 of these creatures, something no one had dared until now. Let these words work as an introduction for the darkest chapter of this anthology of mysteries.
A Headless Horror can only be created when an unnamed fantastic beast is beheaded, the bodyless head rapidly rots and turns into dust while the beheaded body begins to "roam aimlessly". These creatures don't seem to have any physical sensory input, meaning they can't hear, see, smell, nor feel anything. However, when they are approached, they become extremely violent and will try to behead anything that comes close to them. This is the most common way to become a Headless Horror, beheaded by one.
How is this possible? What turns them so violent? How do we know that they can't physically sense anything?
The answer to the last question is the only thing that's been discovered besides the original "common" information.
They can be safely observed from a distance of 50 meters, if there are no sentient beings within this range they simply roam, colliding with everything in their path. Outside of their range no amount of noise or any other physical stimuli makes them react. One was even observed to keep walking towards a wall for more than 14 hours.
Knowing this I approached not only 1, but 5 of them. Brave, right? But noting is impossible for the author of these anthologies: The Great Wise![1]
When a sentient being enters their 50 meters range, a paralyzing sense of dread invades them, making it impossible to run. This state does not trigger the violent response from the Headless Horrors. Following the dread comes an intrusive thought: "To kill it I have to behead it", this intrusive thought becomes stronger than the paralyzing dread and eventually leads the being to act upon this thought. It is at this moment that the Horror notices the presence of the being and starts chasing them and begins an impossible fight to behead each other. The Horror never loses.
If the being manages to suppress this beheading impulse they will clearly "hear" the Horror saying that the only way of killing them is to behead them.
How did I escape 5 times?
I am amazing, that's how.[2]
It seems that these Horrors sense the beheading intentions of those around them and act instinctively to survive, despite the facts that they are not alive, and that they have no head. This is also a contradiction to what they telepathically broadcast.
To this day there's no way to kill them. Horrors are effectively immortal.
I can only theorize that it's the result of an ancient self replicating curse that searches to convert all fantastic beasts into Headless Horrors. Why? Who did this?
Finally, I can only hope that a fantastic beast dies before being transformed into a Headless Horror. Do they think? Do they suffer? Are they alive? [3]
Translator notes: [1]It is believed that the self proclaimed "The Great Wise" was an unnamed fantastic beast. [2]It is believed that the author was a shapeshifter. There are also hints in chapter 7 The Shapeshifters [3]The previous two notes seem to be confirmed by some sightings of abnormal Horrors that are non violent and broadcast a combination of "We are" and "We do"

Hello! I heard that you are the person to ask if there is a certain gif set I would like?
I was wondering if you would be willing to do a parallel gif of Stede first coming on to the revenge and then when he sees the revenge for the first time in s2.
Please and thank you if you are able to! I’m sure you are busy!
It’s for @a-cheeky-lil-bugger
hello <3
i posted it here!

Because you reblogged the thingy and you want people to ask about your blorbos so here i come!
If! Pecha and Rawst change what they do how they will be? Like Pecha instead of been our fashion pinky dreamy girl designer queen she is the streamer and Rawst instead of been a Streamer he is the fashion designer. Like what content will Pecha have and what kind of clothes Rawst will design?
I've been feeling a bit drained lately but I reallyyyyy wanted to draw this. So here's some messy sketches and some headcanons
Tumblr media
Pecha is one of those "I'm gonna talk about this thing that interests me for a bit" sort of youtubers. Styles herself after whatever the theme in the video is, complete with wigs, make-up, and accessories. (heavily based on izzzyzzz on youtube) She's more willing to be seen on camera than Rawst is. Her favorite topic is, of course, bug-types but she also loves talking about horoscopes, fashion dolls, or things that have happened in Unova or Paldea.
Some video titles:
The Myth of The Subway Joltiks
Ten Love Superstitions
A Deep Dive Into Pokedolls
Squackabilly Taxis vs Corviknight Taxis
She also plays video games, but unlike Rawst, Pecha is more into slice of live games or cozy vibed games like Pokemon Crossing (Animal Crossing) or Stardew Valley. (She particularly likes the romancing option in Stardew Valley. In her current playthrough, she is married to Shane and already has a baby with him)
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Rawst's fashion line revolves more around ghost types. Instead of cutesy, the products revolve more around hiding someone's face.
Rawst hates showing his face to people unless he trusts them, so I can see him getting frustrated at the lack of mask fashion in the industry and making his own clothes until he finally just decides to start a shop online because why not?
Unlike Pecha, Rawst's brand isn't named after him and he's a lot more private about his looks and life in the public eye. Most people know him simply as the GraveStones Clothing creator.

I think so many people are so deeply alienated from themselves that they have no clue how to exercise their free will and autonomy. For some, this alienation runs so deep that they are afraid of their own autonomy and humanity. It is completely understandable why one would have those feelings, but it can be worrisome.
I want to help others who feel this way, so here are small things I have done to exercise my free will:
Add "guilty pleasure" songs to playlists and actually listen to them (I have a ton of late 1990s-early 2000s music I listen to now proudly that I never listened to in the past out of shame)
Getting the décor item, bath set, bed spread, ect. in the patterns you like, even if it's "childish" (I got a dinosaur-themed wastebasket from the kids' décor section and I adore it)
Taking a new route to get to a place you go to often
Eat dessert first
Celebrate well, and often
Collect things that are "odd" or don't seem like an "acceptable" thing to collect (somebody on my "for you" page collects dandelion crayola crayons and it was so cool!!!!!!)
Incorporate one new piece in an outfit you wear frequently (e.g., a new chain, a necklace, ribbons, bracelets, ect.). Challenge yourself to add onto the outfits if you feel up for it.
Sing along to songs without worrying that you sound "good" or your intonation is completely accurate
Read a book from a genre you weren't allowed to read as a kid (comics, thrillers, mysteries, anything!)
Walk without having a specific destination or goal
Pick up a new craft without expecting yourself to master it or to ever be "good" enough. Get your hands messy.
I don't want to shame anybody for not feeling as though they have free will or that they are exempt from exercising it. However, I wanted to give ideas so that you might read this list and find your own ways to express your intrinsic autonomy and will. You deserve to be a person, to feel alive, not just living. That is what our lives are for.

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."
Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.
These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!
Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!
Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.
So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.
