I’ve thrown myself head first into icemav recently so I can ABSOLUTELY rec some of my favorite fics I've read so far!!

When We Get Around to Talking About It by @compacflt is the pièce de résistance of icemav fiction I think, for me personally. It's masterfully written and nuanced and just so heartbreaking. the characterization feels so true to how these men would really be in real life and how they would deal with coming to terms with their feelings for each other and sexuality while being in the navy. and as if 90,424 words of beautiful prose wasn't enough of a gift, there is also a sequel/other stories called Debriefing (& Other Stories) which includes a more truncated version of the original but from mav's pov which is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻

Dreams of Impact by thecarlysutra is also very good. It involves a little supernatural flavor, which I enjoy, and revolves around how their lives could be different if they'd just made one single different choice.

come the same colors by susiecarter is a fav. It's a classic 'you got hurt and it's made me reckon with how I really feel about you, but I haven't figured out how to express that'. So basically it's amazing. this author also has a great catalogue of icemav, so it's really a jumping point to read all of her great work. A Shared Cup is another personal fav of mine from this author. it involves soul telepathic bonds. soooo good

a binary star by vannral is a really yummy piece of fanfic. the first line of the description is the perfect primer for how great the rest of the fic is: "Ice hasn’t ever given much thought to celestial things up in the sky but he knows that Maverick burns like one." like. c'monnnn

i'll ride in this life with you by sassenach082 is an ice and mav raise bradley after carol passes away fic, and it's full of sooo much lovely hurt/comfort that is so sweet it will rot your teeth. any fic with a plethora of baby bradley is going to be good for me

I saw beauty to the north by sortalively (tiisis) is a delayed injury fic set post TG:M. It has a lot of rooster and ice and mav reconciling in it which I'm a sucker for. and, if you like the exploration of rooster and mav's relationship (I'm a sucker for parental figure fics lets not unpack that) this author has some greaaaaaaaat fics on their page for that!

cloaked in the bruises of our failures by faerie_ground will rip your heart out. It takes the mission from TG:M and moves it to the 80s with our favorite class of '86 being trained to fly it, all while Mav and Ice are a few years post a messy 'break-up'. I should warn you that this one comes with a trigger warned from sexual assault from a person of authority to an employee, so if you aren't interested in that maybe skip this one. It is so beautiful though and treats the subject with the respect it deserves. slithered here from eden (just to sit outside your door) is another by this author that is very good and I am waiting patiently for an update

a higher fidelity by basedchamp is a classic slowburn with ice and mav developing their friendship before they realize their feelings for one another

no brighter diamond by qin_ling is a wonderful 'five times...' fic and it's so good. Everything by this author is fantastic so you should def check out their other stuff. as lions is about time travel. delish.

You're Gonna Be The One That Saves Me by an orphan_account is amazing. It's got mav struggling post hop 31 and Ice being there to offer emotional support and more if you know what I mean

PurpleArrowzandLeather has 153 tg fics on their page with a huge variety, some icemav, some flyboys of '86 (which I adore, I love fics showing their friendship). you can get lost in their page for a while haha. they also have their bookmarks public! so you can dig around in there, too

Sailor's Delight by saurora_borealis can be read as ice and mav or icemav and I think we both know which one I infer it as. Mal de Mer by them is like that, too

What is he looking for? That’s a question I haven’t really considered. I’ll be honest. But you know what I’ll get this version of him more fleshed out.

I see him having some things in common to og Zrise. I think he still likes strong personalities. He is probably not drawn to the stoic or quiet type immediately. As much as he loves his sister he is not a fan of dragging things out of people. I think he still is drawn to those with confidence. But for a different reason and he probably admires a different kind of confidence. I think it’s not envy anymore. It’s appreciation. I think this version of him is much more into people who have a good impact on others. Once again og Zrise was very envious of that but now it’s admiration. I think he still likes a chase but no longer a fight (to get affection that is) LMAO

I think this version of him is the type to passively admire a lot of people. But he’s a little hesitant about love or getting too close. He can certainly flirt and tease in a playful manner. But once things seem to cross into moving towards more intimate / romantic / sexual I see him kind of sheepishly backing off. Very ‘hah well you called my bluff and I can’t ante up’

I imagine because no Calistrian clergy, no training, no sex work, he’s very different in that department. I think he probably has some experience but not much. I don’t think he’s ever been in love before.

In my mind I think he’d easily make casual acquaintances. Harder for him to have long term friends. Not super intentional on his part. But it’s half not wanting to hurt people when he has to go wander. But also I think he’s sheepish about someone who looks at him with a deeply curious eye. I also still see him as the type to not really be locked down. Still working and traveling a lot. Just now with completely different intentions.

I see him as hesitate about romantic love because I think he’s actually scared about being drawn in too many directions. He’s worried about loosing focus. Which is funny for someone who worships the goddess of love. In his mind it’s that romantic love ‘eludes’ him. He’s kind of waiting for it to knock him on his ass. Love is something he’s not looking for but when he finds it I image he’ll be a wreck (affectionate).

I think he’s still worried about not being a good choice for someone. But not because he’s self destructive but he’s just a little flighty and finds it hard to open up. Very surface level friendly and kind but a little shy or sheepish. Worrying any feelings he would grown could be a burden to someone. Also he still loves dueling, combat, using his battle prowess to do good. He’s much less blood thirsty, but it means he worries about getting injured or dying and breaking someone’s heart. I think if he did fall in love a lot of these insecurities would fall to the wayside.

This version, unlike his og self, is the sibling that can have children biologically should he choose. The cursed making whoever has it infertile. So his mother is CONSTANTLY trying to set him up with ‘eligible singles’ usually women. Heirs are important to nobles. Though he would reject this. I think he’d really resent the heteronormativity. He’d still be very bisexual but his mother would say things like ‘I thought I was a lesbian and I’m not anymore.’ LMAO

Another reason he’s anxious about falling for someone. Because then he’s gonna have to break it to his mother and sister…

Zrise as a father… this version at least… getting emotional about it… this is hard. This is like so so so far from og Zrise but… it’s just stripping away all the curse and deep deep self loathing. Hmmm I think it wouldn’t be his first instinct to want to be a father. I think he would worry about the kind of parent he’d be. But I think he’d also want to be better than his mother and his father. But once he had a child or heard he was going to have one… I think that baby would have him wrapped around their little finger… and now I’m crying thanks

This is kind of freaky if it’s in any way acknowledged but I had an interesting thought. Sun is Hylia reborn as a mortal. She unlocked her memories as Hylia through the course of her journey in Skyward Sword. It also came with awakening her powers.

But what if there were some of her gifts that she had used previously, unintentionally of course, when she was much younger or in extreme distress.

I was thinking about a couple different authors who have Sky’s biological parents range from simply neglectful to downright hellish. And thinking about what a baby Hylia could do if she found out her best friend suffered so much in silence and the adults didn’t know.

And then those parents disappear. Sky is taken in by the entirety of Skyloft. The academy instructors are kind to him, her father is kind to him, anyone not those two who were supposed to be his parents…

NOW THIS! THIS IS SOMETHING TO WAKE UP TO *excited bouncing*

I have thoughts. (I have thoughts often….)

Loftwings are Divine Beings blessed to people from Hylia. They are also referred to as “Guardian Birds”. I personally think they are the Other Half of Skyloftians’ Souls.

In reference to Martyr specifically, Sky’s Mom saw him as a blessing, and his Father saw him as a curse. It’s directly stated like that in story.

Sky’s Mom died when he was young and after that his Father made sure that he truly felt like the curse his Father believed him to be. That is.. Until Sky’s Father’s Loftwing handled the situation.

(I promise this is all relevant to what I’m about to say… and this got very long sooooo… more under the cut!)

Hylia and Sun… I don’t quite see them as the same person. I have a few reasons for this. One of which is… personality. Which is SHOWN to us in Skyward Sword during That Scene. Where Sun is leaning into Hylia and how DISTANT she was from everything. Not uncaring, not unloving, but I felt like she was… a little cold…

My thoughts on Hylia is that her behavior is like Fi. Not too cold, certainly not uncaring, and very straight to the point. Very literal. Analytical. We must remember that Goddesses and the Divine are not always able to be fully comprehended by people… and we must remember that even when something bad happens.. that it might have been the lesser of two evils.

Hylia is known as the Goddess of Time, and I personally like to also equate her to being the Goddess of the Sun. Which is how people, mortals, tell the time of day. She has the ability to literally reverse time. As well as Seal- (crying as I just now realized I never made the Hylia and Demise post)-

BRIEF CUT-

IF WE GO TO JAPANESE MYTHOLOGY, one of the Goddess interpretations that Hylia is based off of was not originally a Goddess, she was tempered into a Goddess. Thus limiting her abilities. The being Demise is based off of is described as Other. Originally Hylia was also like that. Hylia was also Other. With the potential to become more powerful than the Gods and Goddesses the Golden Goddesses are based off of. In an interpretation of the story, the Omnipotent Goddesses didn’t want to potentially be overpowered by the Light Other, and thus tempered her growth into becoming the Sun Goddess. (I do not know if the Golden Goddesses in the Legend of Zelda are like that or not, just interesting historical facts and other tales. I also remember NONE of the names of anyone and I’d find the story if I had the chance but I currently do not)

(Does anyone want to talk about the fact that the primordial forms of the Goddesses are Dragons——)

ANYWAY- THAT SPIEL IS RELEVANT

Hylia is everything that the Light touches, she is Light itself, and Demise is everything else. Two sides of the same coin. Light against Darkness. Time against an omnipresent being.

NOW- Her mortal reincarnation. Sun… Sunlight

Sun is very stubborn! Stubborn and outwardly protective. Willing to throw hands with anyone and anything. Promise you. Promise you she’d be ready to throw hands with ANYONE for Sky. (Sky would do the same for her). She’s almost, if not outright, impatient. And I’m like 85% certain she might have a little bit of a temper. She has the capacity for jealousy (as seen with her wishing she had that same connection with her loftwing that Sky has). As well as extremely impulsive behaviors.

Sun is the mortal reincarnation of Hylia, the Goddess of Time (The Sun Goddess), who has Sight Beyond and has LAYER after LAYER of failsafes specifically to make sure Demise ends up Sealed away. Hylia, who was kind enough to make sure that her Chosen Hero was not without company. Hylia granted Fi. A friend for a journey who would be able to answer all of her Hero’s questions. The questions of someone who has not been on the Surface ever before. Who has never been in this kind of Danger before.

Failsafes.

Sun can absolutely cast low levels magic or something. Hylia would not be able to RISK something like that. Not after such meticulous planning.

However… What you certainly don’t want is a Baby with the ability for Divine Smite and/or to Seal. Which is why her powers were not fully unlocked until the events of Skyward Sword

That does not stop a baby from having a smile that almost lights up an entire room (metaphorically or literally is up to you). Or an otherworldly presence. It doesn’t stop her from dreaming of things that Babies, children, MORTALS should not know. It doesn’t stop her from having a connection with Loftwings- who are Divine Beings/Divine Guardians/Protectors that HYLIA blessed the Skyloftians with. Hylia left her people with blessings… And then her mortal self. Who has a heart who longs for Love, Justice, and Fairness.

The Loftwings listen to Sun. She has the Soul of their Goddess. Everyone on Skyloft knows her. Who wouldn’t recognize Divinity?

the ashford theory with j0n or aegon just means it signifies sansa's suitors and it ties into political marriage with what we see with the north heir crisis could have a j0nsa marriage betrothal but then again like the other suitors it might not even be endgame just something that happens as a plot point, its the fans resisting the idea of it so much but not with other characters ,when j0nsa could make perfect sense for the north heir crisis plot makes me laugh a bit and now the same fans say his targ heritage doesnt matter but they were so keen on it with others d@ny's hypothetical marriage to him , his targ/lyann@ heritage reveal is important to the plot maybe not to his personal motives (unless he goes nuts and demands the north by right as robb's heir) but its going to affect the plot whether they like it or not, j0nsa hypothetical match being so furiously debated feels like sore losing

You’re so correct, anon. It’s mostly because Sansa isn’t a fan favourite, and even with most people who do like her, they don’t want her to end up with anyone because of her general history with men (which is sort of understandable). But suddenly saying that Jon’s Targaryen heritage doesn’t matter just to argue against a ship is buck wild. I genuinely want to study the people who said this like rats in a lab.

I finally managed to grab Irida in Masters, (ran out of gems while getting Adaman) and something funny happened: I got Irida as my second out of 11 pulls and she was in between Clay and Wulfric. I also pulled Mina so it was a Pearl Clan reunion in a way.

I’m really looking forward to seeing who else gets added into the game. Adaman and Irida have Mai and Melli, and Calaba and Lian listed as friend topics in their lodges, and I’d really like to see if they get added down the line. Calaba is my favorite warden behind Ingo, so I really want her added. (Most of all I really want Zisu though!!!)

I’m honestly really excited to see who else gets added. Pokemas community is expecting a Volo unit for the anniversary event. They’re expecting origin form giratina or even arceus as his sync pair, but I’m also wondering about the togepi line (and if he’s in merchant attire or his arceus cosplay attire).

I know a lot of people were wondering about this poll for the Hisui sweepstakes Pokemas put out, if this was a list to pick next potential units, but I doubt it is, and it’s more like just a fun extra quiz.

I think so because I realized that this is just the same list of characters that were revealed on the PLA website before the game came out, right down to the same order. (Cogita is the only one that was revealed on the site post-game release)

So more than likely, Pokemas just pulled that list from the site and put it up.

Also, here’s an image from when PLA was still advertising for its release. These were the only wardens we were allowed to see pre-release (and look at the questionnaire list, those are the only wardens we got). Interestingly though it lists Lian as a girl instead haha
