i went through my following list and i think these are all of my carat mutuals/friends <3 i only included those who i'm mutuals with here on this blog, but with that in mind i hope i included the right people/and all of you! if not, i may have gotten confused with your main and sideblogs. :/ i divided this into 4 sections (because that's how i think of them in my head, lol). so, without further ado, here they are in the order of my following list (from the most recent):

@leechaerok (mirelle) - mi!! i love how you are always striving to be positive and that this is something you share and extend to other people! you literally remind me of sunshine and i hope that only good things are coming ur way. ily!!

@ohoshi (cora) - cora my naughty (IN A PLAYFUL WAY) friend <3 cora's really fun to talk to and she keeps you on your toes. idk why i didn't follow her earlier (i didnt know i wasn't following her jsdjkdsjsdk). extremely talented!! also love the upbeat vibe.

@soonyoungs (cara) - same with cora, i've been seeing cara around but never got to interact with her until recently! i love how versatile cara is and how she always always always appreciates even the little things. 10/10 would let her visit my home again <3

@wrongnanab (aya) - i get mom/older sister friend vibes from aya and i think it suits her a lot. she’s also not afraid of reaching out and i love that sm about her!! i relate to her a lot and i love how she’s always there.

@junhaoshua (e) - something interesting always comes up every time i speak to e! i also love her initiative and how well she manages her time. she’s really passionate about the things she likes and i love how she can get people to be interested in them too!

@choibeomgyus (kale) - kale has excellent taste! i love her aes so much. <3 her work is particularly right up my alley and i just love how clean looking they are. kale’s also such a sweet friend, and she’s not shy about showing affection. i love her sm!!

@dokyom (izy) - izy’s one of the first carats i first followed when i got into caratblr and i’m so glad to have made that decision! her work always wows me and although we haven’t talked much, she’s one of the people i always look out for in here.

@seohoshi (nele) - nele, my mutual at heart. <3 the way we became mutuals is so funny and memorable to me, and i can’t say that about most people! i really like the way nele presents herself as well. she can have fun while still being collected, which i find really interesting. i think she’s someone who brings stability, but i can’t really explain why i get that from her. <3

@art-hao (carrie) - goddess on earth. so elegant. a literal virgo. i love how carrie doesn’t want to be too invested in one single thing. that being said, she’s multitalented, yet is skilled in each of the fields she’s venturing in. she also speaks what’s on her mind, and i admire that a lot. what can’t this woman do :/  

@svtreasure (kate) - kate is one of the first people i got to talk to here on caratblr! and although she’s not on here that much, i always look forward to seeing her. i feel like i have to protect her like a younger sibling <3

@uriboogyu (lee) - lee definitely has feisty younger sibling vibes which i think is so cute! like carrie and e, she’s not afraid of saying what’s on her mind. lee is also such a go-getter! the future is very bright for this one <3

@smallkore (kore) - i remember first talking to kore after she tagged all 3 of my active blogs in one post, and i thought it was kind of funny <3 kore is super talented and entertaining! i also think she’s super interesting, and i love her strange picture collection. <3

@rq-s (katrina) - katrina is also one of the first few people who i interacted with here on caratblr! she is so supportive and always has a nice word for everyone. even though she isn’t here much, i always like seeing her around <3

@boosbin (isa) - iconic. legend. will kick your ass. my beloved <3 isa is SUPER talented and she never fails to amaze me. she’s also very relatable and is super fun to talk to! idk i’m just really fond of isa lol

@dk-s (zay) - i love zay’s sense of style and her overall aesthetic! she also is really smart and gets really invested in her interests. i love her dedication and initiative!

@scoupsy (dreamy) - dreamy and i haven’t really talked much aside from interactions here and there, but she’s someone i really admire. i love how she doesn’t take anyone’s shit and knows what she wants. she’s really skilled in her areas of interest and takes pride in her excellent work. love that about her!! 

@julyprince (madison) - i was really shocked when madison followed me back because i love her work so much! i love how she is so consistent and dedicated (honestly, the constant 9 sets say it all <3). she’s intimidating at first, but she is actually so nice and likes reaching out!

@xuseokgyu (belle) - one of my treasured moots. belle is literally the seok to my soon. <3 she doesn’t know it, but i was kind of shy during my earlier days in caratblr, and she encouraged me to be myself just because she was always reaching out to me. i see belle as someone who really nurtures and is just a reliable older sister for me!

@haniehae (anna) - also one of my favorites <3 anna doesn’t really need too much words but u can always feel the love from her by her little tags here and there. she’s also super supportive and very appreciative of the little things! anna is such a cute person to have around. i lalso love how much work she puts into caratblr. also an amazing dancer oh my god???????

@jaemtens (kevin) - like dreamy, kevin and i haven’t really talked much, but i always love seeing him on the dash! one of the people i admire. it absolutely blows my mind how he has a phd (about to have one? :D) and that he’s still somehow able to make gifs (BEAUTIFULLY!) consistently. love that dedication, wish that were me!!

@tearsofsyrup (vi) - vi thinking of me and tagging me on cute stuff really just makes me feel so :’>. i love how easygoing vi is and i just feel light whenever we interact!!

@soonhoonsol (chey) - everyone’s bestie!! chey literally is the go-to person on caratblr. idk how she manages to do it but she’s always so nice to everyone and really does go out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable! chey has a special place in my heart, and my stay in caratblr wouldn’t be the same without her. <3

@iiasha (emily) - you all don’t understand how much i LOVE emily. i can’t even explain why i love her i just do. she’s also one of the first people i followed when i came on caratblr and i’m so glad to have met her here on our own personal hellsite. emily’s the perfect balance of smart, cool, and funny (this sentence sounds lame as fuck but idk how else to put it)! i appreciate how much she likes her job and that’s something i hope to also imitate! i’ve said it before but i also really love how generous she is. emily also made my stay here on caratblr very enjoyable and i always love reading her text posts <3 i think tumblr junation would nearly die without her so go thank her rn. (she also spotted me turning full dinonara without me even noticing that i am one so. <3 /mwah/)

@coupsnim (izzie) - izzie gives me calm artsy vibes.  her work is always stunning omg. queen of red lips (and i think it’s so fitting bc it suits cheol the best imo???). ALSO love how much she loves cheol!! izzie’s just a sweetheart. <3 would also support ur 0 note posts, lol.

@kyeomshine (lyns) - lyns coloring queen <3 i looove how clean and cohesive her work always is! she’s also one of the people who encouraged me to stay here on caratblr (although she doesn’t know it!!). and though we don’t see lyns as much nowadays, i still think of her as the resident dk fan <3 one of the memorable people for me.

@heartgyus (rhys) - my sister (dISGUSTANG!!). my enemy. THE mutual to have homoerotic subtext with. rhys is actually my closest friend on caratblr. she’s multitalented, almost all-knowing, and has prettie vibes. i’m not elaborating anymore from here on out because i just know she’s gonna be a little devil about it on the dms. 🙄

@hanwooz (kellie & christine) - one of my absolute favorite blogs! i think of them as one of the constants of caratblr. i absolutely love their posts sm and just enjoy when they’re around!! (and how do ur gifs always look good omg tell me ur secrets pls <3)

@7ww​ (yasmin) - one of my favorite (if not my favorite) gfx maker!! i love how you can immediately tell something is from her because of their trademark look. we haven’t talked yet, but she’s one of my favorite carats!

@mngys​ (sofi) - coolest person in the world. idk why we’re even mutuals i don’t deserve this <3 sofi always has the coolest ideas and i look up to her sm!! i’ve also seen her from the birdie community before i got into caratblr so i’ve been following her for quite some time now, but we became mutuals here!

hi sorry this has taken so long! i keep coming back to it because i’m not entirely sure on how to describe each of them without like... saying too much!

so obviously i’m still working on editing everything, because i keep learning new information whenever i go down a wikipedia rabbithole, and because i’ve accidentally connected the dots many many times, so even though i’ve done a few drafts and stuff i’m still not 100% certain about everything (if things don’t make sense here it’s because i’m absolutely trying my best to not just dump everything about the character)

arlo is my main main character! i’m actually writing this entirely from his perspective, which is a biiiig change from what i’m used to.. but it’s weirdly fun because he’s very fun to write as he has certain ways of speaking (pats myself on the back for this one). he.. originally was a dishonored oc, which is Weird once i look back on that because he’s basically just shittier jindosh. because he can be. it’s a bit hard to explain his character without giving too much away, but since he’s my main Dude, he goes through a lot of good development throughout the story while also (un)knowingly helping everyone else out that he previously fucked up. i don’t want to say that he gets redeemed, because not everyone should be, but he definitely realizes a lot of shit. yeah he’s cool.

ace is actually an older oc of mine that i brought over because this originally wasn’t supposed to be a Big Thing, but she’s here now and i love her slightly more evil personality... as they’re all Bad in some way. i just like antagonists way more so.. everyone’s shitty. she’s like my main character, a little less than arlo, but she’s still very important and shows up the most. she really just Appears. that’s her thing. and also in this universe there is a (somewhat) logical and scientific (not really) explanation for her blue eye

crystal is... something else. her name is inspired from a lady my mom went to school with (she gave me both crystal’s name and will’s). i’m still working on her character, but i enjoy her as she’s kinda the breath of fresh air in this group of determined evil backstory ocs (she’s an antagonist too, as they all are. she’s carefree evil... chaotically loving. yknow? i love her despite the fact that she needs more development.

malachite is one of the most important characters in this, as she’s basically the most level-headed of the group, and really is the brain of the entire story.... she does A Lot. like a lot. everyone (excluding celia and, technically, montgomery) has like a niche of science that they excel in, along with other things. everyone kinda invents something important during this, that helps another character in the future with their plot progression, if that makes sense. and malachite is very very important! she literally creates wireless communication, gps tracking, and with the help of crystal she crafts ‘phones.’ they’re not called phones of course, but she does, and she’s great! she also creates boats! she’s a ship captain and absolutely loves it. crystal & her & ace (they’re kinda all a Group) hang out on her ship frequently, and they’ll just enjoy each other’s company. crystal & her are girlfriends and they’re just wonderful.

will is great, and even though it’s really arlo’s story, he actually goes through the most change throughout. and it’s good change! even if he’s not described to be there, or talking in a scene, chances are he’s actually in the background...he’s like a walking dictionary definition for irony- he absolutely Hates being known and seen and being in crowds, etc, you get it. but get this. his name is will durness. wilderness. this is another name my mom gave me out of the blue (his development throughout the story isn’t like, oh, this guy now can do public speaking and is comfortable in crowds, because imo that’s not realistic. instead its more like how can he accept that other people enjoy his company, and want to be around him? he allows himself to have friends and to feel safe around them. and i love him)

those ^ five knew each other at aronose (which, without making this even longer, is basically a Huge and Important and Prestigious science trade school type thing. it’s cool and basically what every dark academia fan wants), and after a mysterious four years in which Things happen they all reconvene in interesting ways, and discover how they’ve all kinda been intertwined in this Thing. and then they help each other. it’s cool! i promise.

montgomery is the worst of everyone, which is saying a lot when they’re all antagonists. he’s the main reason everything that happens.... happens, and [spoilers for a big part of my story just in case you don’t want to read it.. don’t know why i’m talking like i’m actually gonna upload it when it’s done but you never know] even after he’s gone, his presence is still like... there. his thing is just... manipulation, but in different ways. he just Knows how to talk to people. and all the rest of the characters have to deal with his lingering Ideals and Things. which is cool. everyone’s gotta work through that! yay for character development. and he’s the duke, so he can do basically whatever he wants (and he WILL remind you many times of that fact.) he’s kinda got his eyes on everything and everyone. i don’t really like to describe my ocs by comparing them to other existing characters, but he’s like if you somehow combined peter lukas and (sorry for this) h*ndsome jack. yeah he’s definitely a very fun character but man is he hard to write which is kinda funny cause like. he’s my oc lol. he only married celia for the status and she definitely knows that (but i promise there was once a time where they actually loved each other)

celia is possibly my most underdeveloped character out of everyone, but she’s still important to the story! she’s the duchess, and yet we don’t really see much of her in person until probably.... halfway through the story. she hates everyone, but mostly montgomery (lol) and arlo, for numerous reasons. they hate her too so it works out ig. i don’t have much to say about her oops

i just realized how dump-y this is... but i have an unfortunate time trying to describe everyone. somehow. yeah hope this somewhat made sense! i think.. honestly their pinterest boards / tags on my oc blog / spotify playlists do a lot for them

basically, a large part of his dad’s wealth was in fact inherited through the family. they’re all old money posh so finding out that the next family patriarch had an unknown son who was technically his firstborn was terrifying. blood or not, they couldn’t just hand centuries of traditions and carefully cultivated wealth over to a high school dropout living on the streets. so, sky’s dad was just keeping him close while he talked to lawyers about whether or not sky had any legitimate claim to anything owned by his family and of course, the sneaky street smart kid he is, sky figured out what was going on pretty quickly and bolted back to the streets.

「 AVAN JOGIA, CISMALE, 26, PARAMORE. 」┈ did you read that latest viral gossip issue on SKY ARAO? he is the DRUMMER in BETTER NOW, one of my favorite ALT ROCK groups. they’ve been releasing music for FOUR YEARS now, but viral gossip has only been talking about them for the last TWO YEARS. get this, i think i heard HE’S THE ILLEGITIMATE CHILD OF A WEALTHY PUBLIC FIGURE. they’re known as the CALIGINOUS of the music industry, since they have a rep for being TRENCHANT but SELF - SERVING, but who knows. maybe that will change once they become #1.

born and raised deep in the swamplands of louisiana, sky’s only parent was a single mom who was nowhere near old enough or prepared enough to have a kid, tbh. she did sincerely try to take care of him at first but she had a drug problem that got very out of hand very quickly. sky was barely even five years old when the state stepped in and had him placed into the foster system.

So it’s been 2 days and I am still like feeling residual anxiety abt this so I figured I’d make a post and see if that helped any. (warning for mentions of racism/homophobia)

I live/work in a mostly white, very conservative area. It sucks but it is unfortunately where I’m at rn. Some days are better than others and most of the time I just can avoid talking about any social issues with people and I’m cis/straight passing, even if I do come off as weird or a loner or whatever.

Anyway there are a couple of our regular (like there every week, all thru the year) volunteers that have been vocal about their various views, but it was usually not a drawn out thing. Since we’ve opened back up this year, however, one in particular has on almost every occasion, said some form of racist/queerphobic statement. I think maybe she spent too much time over quarantine inside that specific shitty facebook side of the internet which has made her more intolerable. idk. 

This week she got started in because costco has discontinued the brand of pimento cheese we used to get for events (rightfully so tbh), and got into an echo chamber with another very vocal bigot. They went on to have a rant for at least 40 minutes instead of getting work done (while I may add, my boss was there with them and contributing her own homophobic statements instead of like trying to veer the convo back to fucking christmas tea).

It began with “well they’re right, BLM is a terrorist organization” and devolved into how these two women are boycotting lego and carter (a kid’s clothes brand) because these “demons have taken god’s rainbow and made it something bad. they’re just like satan!” by which they meant they went to a fucking walmart and saw a baby shirt with a rainbow on it and it wasn’t labeled for “boys” or “girls” because it’s for fucking babies who don’t give a shit about anything anyway.

And then the other woman started in like “I don’t have anything against gay people, my daughter is gay, but I don’t support the social movement. It’s not healthy or natural!” and that made them all go off about pride parades. “Why do they get special rights?? we never had a hetero parade!”

and about that time I just gathered my shit together and took an early lunch so like god knows how long this continued.

When I returned they had both left, thankfully because I would have considered like faking an illness or something tbh had they still been there. And like I said, these two specifically have said things, and my boss has said some wild ass shit that I just kind of have to ignore that it happened, but never to this extent of like a 45 minute screed. SO I managed to somehow combat my anxiety and like normal avoidance of conflict and I said to my boss, “so I’m not sure how to bring this up, but that discussion y’all were having made me uncomfortable, that’s why I left early. I’ve noticed that’s happening more frequently, is there any way I can have a different work day, or do different hours to avoid this?”

She looked at me like I had three heads and asked “well why did that make you uncomfortable??” and I’m not a dumbass so I was like “well, it just really got to my anxiety (she knows I have this b/c unfortunately I was diagnosed when mom was alive and told everyone all of my business when she would help out there), and I don’t mind removing myself from the situation since I felt (and here I fucked up but couldn’t think of another word) unsafe”

Ofc she flagged that right away and said “unsafe?? what do you mean??” so I bluffed it off like “oh, that’s just how my anxiety responds, I can’t really explain it” which I think was fine, she seemed to accept that. But then she said “Well I will consider it, and I will mention to (Karen1) that she needs to stay on topic. But honestly you just need to be more accepting of other people’s opinions” 

So that’s gonna solve absolutely zero problems. Idk. Like I have a lot of reasons I like working where I do, but it emotionally very uh draining on me.

I think writing this out has at least got it out of my brain. I am still anxious about if it’s going to happen again next week, and then we’re ramping up for our seasonal events so I will have to see more of all of these people.

ok i didn’t do a review of the phoenix wright trilogy but i’ll do a mini-write-up on apollo justice which i just finished earlier. this is mainly due to me looking up apollo justice/ace attorney afterwards and seeing ppl talk vaguely abt how and where the series and characters go after this... i wanted to add my 2 cents to the void of the internet i guess lol

i think as a story, apollo justice is quite good but definitely a bit lacking in writing compared to the 1st trilogy. i feel like this is pretty much the common fan opinion, esp since the 1st trilogy was written all together as a 3-game-set and apollo justice has to conclude everything within 1 game. i think this game did real good at revealing info over time... i remember when they revealed the troupe gramarye poster and i was like WAIT... THAT’S SHADI SMITH... HOLD UP... personally though, i think the ending was not very strong for me -- i feel like we nailed kristoph almost a bit too easily at the end without much i guess concrete evidence linking him to everything even if basically everything was really pointing to him. [EDIT: lol ok reading summaries on aa4 and yeah apparently this is the point and why it being a jurist sys trial was so important… and the realization that he really could get nailed for the crime that he’s been paranoid abt for years made him break down at the end. Ok that makes sense I guess, I was just used to things playing out like the 1st trilogy where you would last min get decisive evidence lol] other than that, there was quite a number of loose ends that didn’t get tied up

so what happened to valant? i think the implication was that he was gonna turn himself in out of guilt even if he didn’t actually kill magnifi (sp?). and also w trucy having the rights i guess it would be complicated for the 2 of them to work that out. that whole aftermath wasn’t entirely clear to me esp since they didn’t give him a post-credits scene

so we’re not gonna get an explanation for why thalassa left her not-even-1-yo son to fend for himself? that was like my no. 1 thing i would’ve liked to get a reason for but the ending is just her being like oh yeah i remember now he’s my son and that’s it. no explanation for why she left him behind and returned to troupe gramarye w/o him. like at least a “oh it would’ve been complicated to bring a literal baby to raise back into that traveling group” would’ve sufficed, esp since we’re supposed to get the impression that lamiror is a kind woman. yet she left her damn kid behind with only a bracelet. were we just supposed to assume the explanation i gave above? i mean yes i’ve looked it up vaguely and i think we get more info on apollo’s growing up in later games but i’ve heard w very little mention of thalassa. which i mean i get, thalassa left him when he was around 1yo so he prob wouldn’t remember shit but man we never gonna get that explanation huh. it’s kinda messed up to leave this baby behind who i assume you care about; it’s another story if she didn’t want the kid and therefore didn’t care what happened to him but she left a bracelet w him which implies she does care

also the loose end of them not telling apollo and trucy they’re siblings. i’ll save this for a later paragraph though

also side note but when i was finishing the game up and before i saw the ending, i literally had a passing, very brief thought like “oh what if lamiror was actually trucy and apollo’s mom lol. what a crack thought” but then it actually happened... i mean it’s good to wrap up that mystery of lamiror’s past, plus they were insinuating so hard that maybe thalassa wasn’t actually dead lol so yeah you knew the mom was gonna pop up fr by the end

apollo himself as a character. now i’m not gonna nit-pick as much here bc he does show up again in later games w more backstory and character development as i’ve heard, but yeah he is very much a mystery character in aa4 i feel. he has basically no given history throughout the game, and the lack of detail made sense at first when you slowly started connecting the dots that he and the gramarye power were related, but then they never really shed any more light on him at the end. they really only reveal he and trucy are related just to explain why and how he has the power to perceive, not even to really indicate anything abt them as characters. i kinda forgot about this as i played the game, but i read a write-up by someone else being like “oh yeah phoenix you know his motivations as a defense attorney but apollo has basically none” and i was like yeah that’s right huh. bc the 1st trilogy reveals p early on that phoenix had a certain motivation to be a defense attorney but apollo you don’t get that, he’s just an attorney just to be an attorney i guess. which i mean is fine, you don’t always need a reason to do stuff sometimes, but it does make him a weaker character. i think maybe in the beginning they were like oh apollo respects kristoph as a lawyer but then they don’t really develop mpre  backstory there like how they met or why kristoph decided to take him on. i thought the latter was gonna be a point that was gonna come up, like maybe kristoph took apollo on as part of his large masterplan or something bc i think kristoph does mention being aware of apollo’s “power” but yeah they didn’t delve further into that. anyway i’ll go less on this bc i’ll just assume they had plans for him to show up in later games therefore they didn’t fully flesh him out here. otherwise that means they just didn’t bother on him other than him having the perceive power and having a personal relation to the whole gramarye case

how did drew misham or vera idk who painted it know abt all of apollo’s 3 cases? i thought it was gonna be like oh phoenix or kristoph saw all this coming and somehow told misham abt it who drew it but uh that didn’t happen. was that bc drew misham was following phoenix in the news and saw the stuff happening w apollo and was inspired to draw his cases? that was a dramatic reveal when apollo/trucy/ema found it out but i mean i guess it was just to show that misham was connected to them/the overall story more than just a simple jurist sys test case

the last writing thing i’ll mention is abt trucy and apollo being siblings. after the whole phoenix x maya crap in the 1st trilogy i suspected they were gonna do the same with apollo and trucy... thankfully they didn’t which was good bc i liked them a lot as a platonic duo, also since i actually thought apollo was 25yo for a while so that age gap is pretty weird too if you do it romantically. i suspected they were actually related p early on after discussing my playthrough w my sis who upon googling info said ‘lol i did say why not ship them but i will not say that anymore’ so i was like lol it’s prob bc she found out they were related or something. regardless i mean i would have suspected that anyway bc the game pushes the ‘oh this perceive power is really only seen in trucy’s family line’ so hard so it’s like not that hard to draw the line bw them, esp when they’re super vague abt apollo’s history and how he even got that bracelet in the 1st place. anyway i think it’s cute to imagine two siblings running all over town to solve shit. as expected tho, there are still ppl out there who ship them even after knowing the truth which is meh but i mean what do you expect of fandom/the internet.

although one of my biggest disappointments is the fact that apparently even in later games, the two never find out they’re siblings. i mean i guess it’s not a major plot point that NEEDS to be addressed as covered in point #3 above, but come on? their mom is literally still alive? a mom and her children reuniting and developing their family relationship again? i mean she’s been so distanced from them for so long that a family reunion would be awkward sure but zak literally made phoenix promise to tell trucy apollo was her bro so i’m surprised he never told her even before his conversation with thalassa at the end of the game. like i thought for sure they were gonna reveal their sibling relationship in aa4 but sadly my imagined revelation scene never happened

(i literally thought up a funny scene too... them seeing thalassa and both being like “MOM??” at the same time and then looking at each other in confusion before thalassa confirms that yes she is both of their moms. although this makes less sense on apollo’s part since he prob wouldn’t remember what she looks like but i mean same bracelets)

otherwise, gameplay was pretty interesting this time around. music was bopping tbh, i played aa4 right after finishing trials and tribulations and wow the music quality improvement was so obvious. the perceive thing was pretty cool and their tutorial on how to use it was super cute lol (apollo: that’s cool but i’m freaking out a little here // trucy: yeah your eyes are kinda bugging out); although absolutely hilarious on how apollo "explained” it in court... imagine a lawyer looking real hard at you and then being like ‘actually you swallowed weird when you said this therefore you’re lying’... i cannot even imagine how that sounded the 1st time to the judge and klavier... anyway i also thought the MASON technologies chapter was really interesting, w phoenix going back and forth through time and using evidence from the future for the past and vice versa. fun time traveling stuff!

ok and that’s kind of all i wanted to say i guess. i’m prob gonna try to stay in the dark on fan content stuff like i was purposely doing before playing aa... i was looking some stuff up and i was like ‘huh... i didn’t get this impression of apollo or the apollo/klavier ship when i was playing aa4...’ i don’t want to get my own opinion of these characters warped by fan content/others’ opinions so i might just take a bit of time to solidify how i feel about/characterize each of the characters before i trek out into fandom land. also it’s prob bc i haven’t played apollo’s later games since he supposedly gets more character dev later. tbh idk if i will bc to be frank i’ve been using emulators to play aa so far and i don’t think there’s a rom out for the later aa games on 3ds. i mean if there really isn’t, i’ll prob just watch a playthrough on YT so i can continue the aa story since i did like apollo as a character despite his lack of backstory.

i was considering skipping edgeworth’s games to go right to dual destinies and continue on apollo’s story/the aftermath of that game, but tbh i’m less incentivized to since i’ve heard that the story/character continuity aspect kind of goes out the window in later games (also the point abt apollo and trucy still being in the dark abt them being siblings. even though yes it wouldn’t change how they interact w each other, i would also prefer the fact to be known officially in-universe so characters don’t be freaks as apparently there are some lines in later games that are a little weird). i mean i could end up having a different opinion abt the continuity, but yeah seeing those comments did put a damper on me diving straight towards dual destinies. so i might just play edgeworth’s games first as i originally planned anyway since they were developed right after even if they take place before aa4

In the devilman manga how sincere were miki's feelings for akira? Maybe I'm missing something but her feelings seemed kind of shallow.

first off, it’s been a couple years since I’ve read the og Dman manga, and I don’t necessarily feel like skimming back over it rn, so I’m gonna go off my memories of the events and initial impressions. take what I say next as u will based on that disclaimer

anyways, I think that depends on how you read the intentions behind og Miki’s actions. first, let’s go over some of her actions towards og Akira:

- Miki bullied pre-Amon Akira for being soft

- Miki instigated fights w/ bullies, but instead of holding her own, she actively pulled pre-Amon Akira into the fights and expected him to protect her. for context on Akira’s end: Akira just wanted both of them to run away so neither of them would get hurt. it’s not like he would run away and leave Miki to fend for herself

- Miki wasn’t the slightest bit worried or even confused when post-Amon Akira made an appearance, and continuously told him how she liked the “new Akira”

I think there are two main ways u can read Miki’s driving intentions for these actions: selfishly-driven vs. improvement-driven. I’m guessing ur here b/c of my Crybaby review, so ur prolly aware that I fall into the selfish-driven camp of thought

so if u interpret Miki as selfishly-driven, then she either 1) was an incredibly impulsive instigator who was all bark but no bite (at least in the beginning of the series– standing up for herself rather than relying on Akira to protect her was a big part of her growth as a character. but the point stands that her initial attitude was different), or 2) for some reason she was SET on dating Akira, but Akira didn’t fit her standards, so instead of trying to find a guy that actually fit her standards, Miki tried to morph Akira into what she wanted

I’m more inclined to believe the latter of these two– that she wanted Her Version of Akira. Miki was definitely impulsive, but I don’t think she was necessarily dumb enough to start fights just for the sake of starting fights. plus, some fights were totally worth her being pissed over– she just wouldn’t back down when things were clearly getting too dangerous 

anyways, in this interpretation, she just wanted a strong-willed, beefy Akira to sweep her off her feet, so she pushed Akira into situations where he was forced to buck up or die get injured. then, when Akira merged w/ Amon, Miki got exactly what she wanted, w/o considering HOW the “new Akira” came to be. of course she couldn’t have known the horrific situation that led to Devilman, or that Akira was truly different at a fundamental level, but she could have been a little concerned? curious maybe? like it was painful to hear her talk abt “new Akira” as if pre-Amon Akira meant nothing to her, and that Akira didn’t have to go through a deeply traumatic experience to become Devilman

now, on the complete flip side, if Miki is interpreted as improvement-driven, then she just wanted to see Akira come out of his shell. she saw how pre-Amon Akira was a doormat and got hurt b/c of his fears of fighting back. she wanted Akira to get stronger and more assertive for his own well-being (tho her preferences were prolly still a bonus here, lmao). thus, when she met post-Amon Akira for the first time, she was delighted to see Akira was finally starting to stand up for himself and not let the world get to him. I believe this is where my friend @cobwebbing stands on the subject, so she might be able to elaborate more on this perspective

objectively, I can kinda see how someone could go for either interpretation. but personally, I just can’t see Miki as anything but selfishly-driven, b/c of the way certain interactions are framed, and the way she talks to both pre- and post-Amon Akira

but this doesn’t exactly answer your question abt her feelings: is og Miki’s love for Akira sincere? that’s the tricky thing– I think her feelings are totally sincere no matter what interpretation u go with

I don’t think Miki would have risked life and limb (literally) for Akira if she didn’t truly dearly love him (and even more importantly, if that love was only as recent as post-Amon Akira). now, love could refer to platonic or romantic, but Miki was clearly into Akira throughout, so I don’t think the romantic part of that equation is in question either. there is no doubt in my mind that Miki loved Akira, someway somehow

that’s the thing that I think few ppl truly grasp abt relationships (and more importantly, relationships w/ potentially abusive dynamics): love and abuse are not mutually exclusive

I’m not accusing og Miki of being an abuser necessarily, but she absolutely took abusive/degrading actions towards Akira (which may label her an abuser anyways, but I don’t think I’m qualified to just label a character something like that,,). she may have even thought she was improvement-driven when in reality she was selfishly-driven, which deluded her into thinking that she was doing what was best for Akira

but none of that MATTERS. the fact of the matter is she treated pre-Amon Akira like trash, and no amount of love or intention changes that. and this is where it gets personal: this is exactly what my mom is like

my mom would give the shirt off her back for me, sacrifice her very life for me w/o a moment’s hesitation. I’ve never doubted her love for me for even a second. that doesn’t change the fact that she hurt me– made me feel inferior, unimportant, guilty for even existing in a less-than-satisfactory manner to her standards. every conversation and interaction was centered on HER wants and HER needs; I barely had space to even voice my needs, much less wants or opinions. attention was a commodity I had to earn by doing things to her constantly-shifting standards, rather than a given b/c a mother’s attention shouldn’t be a commodity. she gave me mental/emotional scars I don’t think will ever fully heal, but by god did she let me know she loves me to death

love was never the issue w/ my mom and I, nor is it the issue w/ og Miki and Akira, imo

*FINAL DISCLAIMER* b/c fandom is just Like This nowadays: even if I was accusing Miki of being an abuser, I don’t care if ppl like og Miki, or og Miki/Akira. I make no moral judgments based on ppl’s fave characters/pairings; og Miki/Akira stuff just personally makes me Real Uncomfy. I might get heated talking abt it, but ultimately I don’t care what other fans are shippin’ lmao

yun hyeran, a daegu native with an older and younger brother, an ambivert and an all around baby

tbh i don’t have much of her bg figured out, that’s always the last thing i get to so rip

buT she became involved in music through her father, who studied it in uni and ended up becoming a music instructor with a focus on piano, flute and vocals

her and her mom.. also her older brother, didn’t have the best relationship when she grew older, which seemed to die altogether when her parents divorced and her mom left. but her and her brother’s still exists, it’s just that he’s a bit of a toxic influence on her and she tends to distance herself from him

went to uni in seoul to pursue music like her father ( a daddy’s girl too like ) and found her way into the world of production !! by junior year, she’d transferred out of her original program and majored in that instead and has loved it ever since; she recently graduated

moved to jeju island bc an aunt lived there when she was young and she LOVED to visit, made a few friends there and would always whine abt the next time they could all go see her aunt again. so it made sense for her to live, at least for a little while, in one of her favourite places

she also adores said aunt, her dad’s sister and the maternal figure she Deserves, so she came partially to see her more often

for the time being, she works full-time as a barista at the café just a block from her cute little studio apartment while looking into internships at record labels for her to take on a little further down the line ( no rush bc it’s already quite competitive and she’d rather enjoy what she has going now )

she’s also making something of an income as the creator of an acct on youtube and soundcloud for her music, something she’s had for abt two years now

she’s not even close to making it big yet, and she doesn’t mind if she never works for a moderately to highly popular label — though she should if she wants to get by

among the aesthetic, lo-fi music crowd ( one of those yt accts with a livestream for certain playlists that go on for hours, rip ) where for the most part, it’s personal faves mixed with her own works, and has a substantial following as of now. but has an interest in experimenting, with mashups ( as a lover of them ?? i couldn’t help myself sgflkdsjg ) for example, with a small fear of how that change would be received

this is so short iK, it’s a little infuriating if you ask me ljkgdfjls

in terms of her personality and other things:

she’s a very loyal person, v e r y. while like i said, her relationship with her brother is Not Great, she hasn’t completely given up on him. maybe for the time being, but her being someone who’s open to the idea of people changing for the better somewhere down the line, leaves a bit of room for her to possibly change her mind if he does enough to allow her to consider it

so she can be a bit of a doormat in some cases, it all depends on how she sees the person that determines if that’s the case, but she generally won’t let you off if you’re being dumb/an ass to someone or if she gets advantageous vibes from you for example ( given she can.. be a little naive and is a p gentle soul ) so.. idk fgklsj good luck to the 99% ig ??

she does have a slight dependency on others despite her thinking all signs point to the opposite, and even though her and her mom never rly had a good relationship she still reels from the neglect/abandonment some days so handle her with Care if she deems you a close pal, 

spontaneous tbh, moving to jeju was a little last minute on her part, for one

she’s a little reclusive when focused on something, if she tells you she’s working on a track, it’s essentially a head’s up that you might not see her for a couple of days depending on how soon she gets it done — lowkey that bitch™ who makes up an illness to her boss, so she wouldn’t even show up for work if it’s more than just her fucking around

bc admittedly, a lot of what she posts is fucking around and liking it, her more thought-out and effort packed projects are hidden away on her laptop

a bit insecure with her work and just her general disposition ?? those first few points above mess with her a lot and leave her disheartened so.. my poor child

v strong overall, takes people’s shit and if it gets to her, she gets over it p fast. doesn’t dwell on much and will be courteous to you even if she’s declared you too toxic to stick around 24/7

Kay, new icon is Vriska’s dice cause the gradient was lame, and every Vriska blog halfway to sunday has already had every photo of her face as their icon twice. It also works cause of yknow liking dnd and stuff. one thing I really liked about my last vriska pic one was the negative space made it feel like it popped and I feel like this one has sort of the same thing going for it. Wow, it can be that deep. I’m just rambling cause it’s 3am and yet again I have stayed up this long. I can;t wait til it’s winter again so I can force myself back into a normal sleep schedule. Honestly before I started vrisrose posting I felt so useless yknow cause in the vriska circles there are a lot of intelligent people who understand canon better and are overall smarter and better spoken so I just felt like everything I had to say was just old hat and not very interesting. But the thing I like about VrisRose is no one else is talking about it as frequently ( I was searching the tag and my blog came up in the recco’s for blogs up top and I was very happy) so I feel like, hey, this is my niche. That one engineer of useless inventions quote: The best way to become top of your field is to specialize:, I jsut love rarepairs so much! I think it’s such a great way to approach character analysis because no one exists in a vaccum so seeing peoples interactions and what people like is so fun!!!! I say, invalidating all my personal issues lollll

CHARACTER ANALYSIS! FUCK TALKING ABOUT INTERACTIONS OR ACTIONS ON THEIR OWN OR THOUGHTS OR HC’S, I STAND BY MY ONE TAAKO ‘vriska did nothing wrong’ QUOTE; Trying to understand what characters morals, and their opinions on certain things by analyzing their opinions and interactions in canon is 500x more productive seeming to me than other things. Like, say taako’s thoughts about vriska, V and Lucretia are p similar actions wise, and he was pissed at her but that was mostly cause of the personal connections, when it doesn’t affect him Taako doesn’t seem to have any moral objections to any of the icky moral stuff; think robot planet or whatevs where they were gonna genocide the place and lup was like no and that was like the only reason he didn’t I’m pretty sure, I’m not too big brained on taako or adventurezone either so don’t take my word; So I think that Taak’s would be chill with Vriska. Another thing? The Lucretia thing was like, giving up which Taako is not ok with and Vriska thigns were about not giving up so I do legit think he would be totally coool with her, even if she were real, unless obvs she hurt one of the seven bird red robe people and their new friends.

ISN;T THAT SUCH A FUN METHOD OF CHARACTER ANALYSIS? I’m not drunk or in an altered state just tired enthusiastic and with a lot of pent up thoughts. 1.       What do you think you smell like!! 

I think I smell like my favorite shampoo? It’s apple! 

2.       Got any new projects that you’re really excited abt?????

Right now, I’m excited about getting my asks done since I kinda got addicted to writing them.  

3.       What was one of your biggest life changes?

When I first open the book Inheart! I got addicted to reading since then And reading really saved my life. :3

4.       What countries have you traveled too?

I’ve been to Mexico!! 

5.       Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? (I want to see the Thai murder museum ;u; and the Rock museum)

I want to visit France, japan, and Canada.  I would love to see the Northen lights and  Niagara Falls someday in my life. 

6.       What are you most worried about right now? What will you do to stop the worry?

My mom’s health, I usually have to remind myself that it will get better if we watch what we eat and I write some bit to calm down.

7.       If you had to give yourself a new name, what name would you pick?

Marina! I always loved the sound of it!

 I don’t know... um...honesty? I am very blunt.

A pizza and yes!

I wanted to be a vet. I really liked animals as a kid but I have a fear of blood so...

1) What is one project that you’re most proud of?

I helped build the house I live in. Pretty proud of that. 

2) What’s one word that does not describe you? And you never want to be associated with?

I can’t describe myself very well but I wouldn’t use bully and I would never want to be called one.

3)  Have you ever broken something that you couldn’t fix, no matter how hard you try? (Like an egg?)

I broke a glass hummingbird that my dad bought me and it was the first in my blow up glass collection so I was hurt. Tried to superglue it back. 

4) Who do you love the most in the world right now? (Family, friend, s/o, etc)

My family! I can say it’s a tie between my big bro and my little sis. 

5) What’s your arch nemesis? (for me it’s mayo, and mean people, and chinese)

I still hold a grudge against bullies.

I can’t lie to save my life. I will come clean because I feel so much guilt so none are successful.

This one is hard...I’ll say my high school teacher, Mrs. Minyard. She got me to be a little more outgoing.

I can’t interact with myself but you never said I couldn’t interact with others I knew. So yes I would. May mess with time a bit. :3

10) If you could be a plant, what plant would you wanna be? (I wanna be a tree, like a giant ass tree so that I could look down on all the tinier trees.)

I would be a...weed. You would never be able to get rid of me!!!!

if I were stuck on a deserted island I would dig a ditch. Then I would die in it. Because I can’t survive if left alone for too long. (Also at my funeral they would have to say “We left her get out of our sights and she died in a ditch somewhere!”)

Favorite is from Naruto “Those that who break the rules are trash but those who abandon their friends are less than trash!” but from one piece it’s “Thank you for loving me”

Tie between Romance and fantasy. :3

3.       If you could wish for one thing, no limits, what would it be?

I would wish for a thing to keep let me wish without limits more so I could cheat the system.

I’m the middle child of three!

Being too hot. I hate the heat!

6.       Tell me a funny story!

I scare myself a lot. The other night while I was on my phone I notice that a shadow moved across one of my walls and I screamed, falling flat on my ass as I scrammed off the bed (which is next to said wall). My bro raced in asking what was wrong since he heard me scream but I realized something. It was my shadow. My own Shadow that moved with me, scared me.

8.       Do you have a favorite plot bunny/art idea you haven’t been able to work on yet?

Yes! I have this one where it’s a girl who is reborn into the One Piece world as Sabo’s twin sister. Pretty much the whole idea of her is that she isn’t a fighter due to her body being weak there (It’s normal by our standards but in OP she is considered “sick” and Garp won’t train her. It’s a risk to her life) but she want’s to support the ASL boys somehow. and ends up being like a Franky to the Gray Terminal by feeding the people there, gaining the loyalty of the trash dwellers and taking control of the underworld of Dawn Island.  Which she uses to help the boys and once they set out to sea, keep tabs on them. 

9.       When did you start writing/drawing/creating in general?

I started writing in like 7th grade. 

10.    If you could make a crew of characters to sail on the Grand Line, who would you choose?

Hmmmm. Are we talking Cannon here? I take the ASL bros, Marco, Whitebeard,  Robin, Cavendish, Bartolomeo and Shanks. If we talking Fandom I’ll take Jeremiah Cross, Riskua dracule and Ross Outlook  (My own Oc that I’ve never finished lol)

11.    If you were to go on a trip, where would you like to go?

I’ll love to go to France, Japan, and to the beach!

so i really do not have the greatest relationship with my mother, like everything always feels really strained all the time, but i’ve been having a Shitty Month From Hell and like, everything has been terrible, and today kinda feels like things might be getting a little better and now my mom just texted me asking if there was anything she could do to help, and i haven’t told her anything about how shitty everything has been and right now i’m just so tempted to just tell her everything shitty that’s been going on, like, all of the isolated feelings

isolated feelings not just from friends in general, but also because it seems like all of my roommates are only talking about sex lately and while i seriously do not have issues with m/f sex, it somehow still grates so much because all of my roommates are Very Straight, and so them talking about sex has like zero insight into how that would seem from a queer perspective. that’s really hard to explain, but like idk a queer person talking abt m/f sex approaches it Very Differently than a straight person would and that has just been GRATING on my already frayed psyche because just like. They Don’t Get Why I’m Uncomfortable, and like, if they apologise for maybe making me uncomfortable they always apologise if it’s awkward because i’ve never had sex with anyone, which i literally don’t care about??????? i’m uncomfortable bc i’m queer af and i only have 1 other queer friend up here that i see in person regularly and that’s just. really jarring for me because he’s the only person i can talk to about queer stuff, and i still feel like he wouldn’t really get it because i still approach sex from a very different perspective than he does bc he’s already down for unattached one night stands and i just cannot comprehend being able to actually do that on a personal level.

isolated feelings because my depression feels like it’s just been getting worse and i know that i really need to talk to someone about it, but i just Do Not have the energy to make that appointment, and i can hardly pull myself out of bed to go to classes, and everything has just been really hard to do, and i have to also sit around listening to friends who i know would listen but wouldn’t really understand because they have no experience to really work off of, and every other time i try to talk to them about this kind of stuff i feel like the help they try to give is more pitying than anything and that always just hurts more because not only do i know that they don’t understand, but the pity i feel coming off of them - whether it’s actually there or not - just emphasises this sense of Otherness that i feel around them too often lately.

and like, another issue that i have with getting help up here is that list time i was in the counselling offices on campus for actual counseling, like, the first thing they said to me was that appointments weren’t supposed to be for long term stuff, and that they mostly just do like maybe to appointments a semester, and so that just makes me feel like i can’t actually go in for the help that i know i need, even though, objectively, i know that they would help for as long as i needed it, and that if i couldn’t get help there anymore, they would know where to send me for that but because #depression instead i just. don’t go in. and just “sucking it up and doing it anyway” isn’t really an option.

and one roommate actually singled me out a few days ago to tell me how worried apparently they all are which is honestly really nice and i appreciate it a lot, but she also mentioned how sometimes she feels like i’m upset or mad at her and then i don’t tell her anything and then i just post about it on twitter and don’t talk to anyone about it and that makes her kinda sad because i’m posting rants about feelings and not talking to her about them so it makes her feel kinda unwanted and like yeah absolutely that’s not entirely fair to her, but also twitter has first and foremost always been a place when i would go to vent about things so that i could feel better by the time i actually had to face that person, and i’m Very Much Not Used to having so many people i know irl following me on twitter, and i’m especially not used to people bringing up things that i tweet so often in actual conversations, so now that coping mechanism is starting to feel cut off and now things are just building up more and more and more because i have so many issues expressing myself outside of writing and everyone around me is telling me that i need to talk about it “but not like that” and i feel like my existence is just kinda like. hovering outside my body now, like i can’t even be a real person anymore, like it’s not allowed for whatever fucking reason and it makes me wanna throw up the more i think about it
