with a rather theatric roll of her eyes, george leans against the brick wall, tucking their hands behind their back as they rock on the balls of their feet. keeping an eagle eye out as nancy goes about fiddling with the door's lock. "if your dad calls, we're studying at my place but you can't come to the phone if he asks to speak to you because you're in the bathroom, or you just stepped out with bess to get us some burgers, or you're on the phone with ned and that's why you're not picking up. i've got more excuses if you wanna hear them, i'm like an expert on excuses at this point," she doesn't like lying to carson for multiple reasons - the first being that it feels like he can just tell when something's up, which it usually is. the second reason being it just makes them feel guilty, as a fellow member of the "i love nancy drew and worry about her health and safety all the time" club, she understood where he was coming from. it couldn't be easy to be nancy's dad, considering what happened to her mom, it was no wonder he was so protective. "and if someone comes, i'll cough as a heads up and ask them if they can show me where the front office is because i'm just so lost. this isn't my first rodeo, drew. i don't love all the subterfuge, but i've got your back."

What they smell like: Her newest perfume (she changes it up three to four times a year) and cookie scented hand cream

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): She knows sleep is important but darned if she can help herself from bingeing shows or wedding video playlists late into the night only to fall asleep tangled in her blankets, neck at a weird angle, with the tv or laptop still running.

What music they enjoy: Never has there ever been a more fitting fictional character who adores Taylor Swift albums.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: She never allots enough time for what she decides to do for her look every morning. The quickest she can be ready is 30 minutes. She prefers an hour.

Their favorite thing to collect: Teddy bears (see: case of the twin teddy bears)

Religion (if any): Christian - Presbyterian

Favorite sport: Individual ones - no ball or teams - roller skating, sailing, ice skating.

A weird/obscure fear they have: Bess is cautious about a lot of potentially dangerous things, but something very unlikely to happen that she still fears is a hair shearing incident. Whether it’s going to sleep at a slumber party or dorm and thinking some mean girl is going to cut all her hair off in the night, getting it irreversibly tangled in machinery, or going bald due to illness, Bess thinks something horrible could happen to her hair and she’s protective of it.

The carnival/arcade game they always win without fail: sweepstakes and giveaways? According to Nancy’s RAN case file, it seems to happen to Bess frequently.

What they smell like: Extra strength anti-perspirant, breath mints, and fabric softener.

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc): side sleeper, midnight bedtime at the latest

What music they enjoy: Anything that’s good on a workout playlist

How much time they spend getting ready every morning: 45 minutes. Teeth brushed, exercise clothes on, then at least a 30 minute run (or if the weather is bad, cardio routine indoors), then shower and dress for the day.

Their favorite thing to collect: Small things that are just cool to her - old dog tags, a shell cartridge, a unique battery or power cell, whatever she finds by the sidewalk or road when she’s out jogging, tiny screwdrivers, etc. She has tackle boxes full of little trinkets and tools.

Favorite sport: There’s nothing she won’t try when it comes to sports, but she likes basketball, volleyball, kayaking, rock-climbing, and cross-country skiing the most (depending on the time of year). Running/jogging is always on the table.

Favorite touristy thing to do when traveling (museums, local food, sightseeing, etc): She buys the guidebooks with all the places of interest and the city’s history detailed inside. Makes a great souvenir of her trip, too.

77- Who's your least favorite character in Alibi in Ashes? Why?Ugh. Even tie between Brenda Carlton and Toni Scallari. They’re both so nauseatingly condescending and rude and have a really kind and pleasant front. They disgust me lmfao.

19- What Nancy Drew video game have you played over and over again? Why?I tend to play games repeatedly to see more dialogue from characters I love. So the ones I play a ton are WAC, DAN, CUR, DED, DDI, and GTH. But I love all most of the games so so much and love replaying for the puzzles and mystery. (I think the only games I haven’t played to completion 3+ times are LIE, ICE, TMB, and the dossier games.)

10- Who's your favorite reoccurring character (Carson Drew, Joe Hardy, Frank Hardy, Ned Nickerson, Bess Marvin, George Fayne, or Hannah Gruen)? Why?I absolutely adore Bess; she’s just so adorable and kind and wonderful. I don’t know if Deirdre Shannon counts but I love her, too, because I’m a sucker for mean girls with depth.

9- Have you written Nancy Drew fanfiction?Shameless yes! I wrote one Danger by Design fanfiction that’s on my Ao3 account and I plan on writing more for Nancy Drew in the near future!
