I think he's a big ol' fuckin teddy bear and I wanna squeeze him. He's gotta be mad comfy when cuddling y'all. He tightly wraps his arms around you and gently rubs your back, occasionally giving you kisses to the top of you head or your cheek, he's either humming/singing or whispering the sweetest of things to you. And I firmly believe this man would be like a personal heater keeping you warm the whole time 🥺

I should preface, I usually don't do any song analyses and you can go check out @ialwaysknewyouwerepunk or @bluewinnerangel if you want to read more ideas.

All This Time, to me, is Louis singing about his closet, or as a closeted artist and how no matter how long it takes for him to come out, it's worth the wait because he was in love it all this time. I find the song very consoling. Looking at the fandom and how it's so pushy for Louis and Harry to come out, this song feels like a warm reassuring hug, it prepares us for the long run. It’s about the journey not the end game right?

The lyrics you refer to, are:

I understand it as Louis recognizing other people/artists/maybe up and coming in the same situation, and how everyone has been building their images to hide their true selfs behind (walls of trees -> paper -> press?), and the song proceeds about hoping these efforts will "turn to gold", as everyone around him hustles in the business, hoping to succeed. It also gives me a sense of how there is a supportive queer community in the entertainment industry that watches out for one another.

I might be totally wrong, but it's how I read it, it's how the song's message has crept under my skin since the very first time I heard the song, how Louis' whispers are so intimate and warm, sad but hopeful, and so understanding. I fucking love this song with all my heart.
