Judging from these panels, would it mean that there's no other yorishima exorcist that's still alive (since natori said that the yorishima family "was once" a big name, past tense) in the canon timeline, and that the yorishima we know probably ended his family's exorcism business for good by retiring himself? If so, was the reason tied to the youkai living in his left arm, or is there another cause? And when exactly did he retire— was it before or during seiji and shuuichi's high school days, which was why his left arm appeared with the thick bandages when he gave them the loquats in the anime, but he still lived in the estate during that time, or was it after the two became legal adults, which lined up somewhat with him moving into his forest home, abandoning his family estate in favor of living in isolation?

And, speaking of retirement, I wonder if we'll ever know why midorikawa told us that the takis were "famous" (which presumedly meant they were strong enough to be well-known) as occult diviners, since tooru herself only ever mentioned what their previous family business entails, and never about their status in the exorcism community? We don't really need this extra bit if she wanted to further establish how tooru has an aptitude for spell-casting, either. Again, there's another "strong" family (whose members are still alive in canon) that went into retirement, but did the taki family lost their power because the ability to see (if they were needed for diviners) disappeared for at least the last three generations (if we assumed that tooru and isamu's parents couldn't see youkai too), or was it due to another reason? How close was shinichiro (tooru and isamu's grandpa) to the matobas that even the current clan head came to pay his respects during his sixth death anniversary; was his relationship with seiji's father strictly resolved around exorcism business, or was anything else involved? Does tooru herself doesn't fully understand the prowess her family once had, hence why seiji was the one who told takashi (and us readers) about it? What would this tiny bit of lore mean for tooru with it revealed this late into the manga, when tooru herself only talked sparsely about her ancestors in previous chapters?

I was thinking about Gwynriel's book. We know that having Azriel's pov will be heartbroken. He has a very traumatic past.

For me, as a survivor, Gwyn's pov is going to be even harder to read. The events of Sangravah were very hard to read in ACOSF. We are going to see even more how those events affected her life.

I know that I will need a long therapy session after reading this book.

Friendly reminder that this headcanon specifically applies only to this RP blog and character, it's not meant to be used as a theory for the series as a whole.

It's widely known that only those with the 'blood of the dragon' are able of riding dragons, though the reason behind this is up for debate, but it hints to some kind of connection ( be it to the genetic level or through bloodmagic sorcery, which I expand on over here ) between Valyrians ( specifically, Dragonlords ) and dragons.

What is also known is that Dragonlords did use magical objects such as horns, to more effectively control their dragons. These were intelligent creatures with their own wills and whims, so they did disobey their riders often enough, especially if the bond was still weak. In time, as the bond is fortified, then these instances occurred less. Horns and spells were sung in an attempt to fortify that bond and prevent this 'disobedience' through magical control. However, it was not necessary, as Targaryens and their 'dragonseed' could bond with dragons without the use of them. 

A dragon bond is in itself a magical connection, which is why Valyrian Dragonlords practiced incest to preserve the magical quality of their blood as pure as possible, to maintain that ability to bond with and ride dragons ( aside from political reasons, of course ). The bond does not only involve the rider but the dragon, so this means that the dragon also must 'choose' the rider, and this depends on each of them individually. For the rider, the bond may begin first as an allure of sorts, an affinity to a certain dragon or even a developed interest, which can happen when they have been exposed to the frequent company of one. An example of this can be how Targaryens placed dragon eggs in the cradles and the dragons that hatched ( if they did ) were bonded to the babies. 

Aside from being able to ride dragons, the bond allowed for the pair to be connected on an emotional and subconscious level. Dragons learn commands initially through the emotional communication with their riders as they are being taught/trained, associating the words with what they can subconsciously perceive from the rider ( their 'will' pretty much ) when the word is spoken. Afterwards, as highly intelligent ( in ways people cannot understand ) creatures, this will enable them to better learn and understand the human language of their rider. They would also grow aware of where the other is and call for them ( though very large distances may hinder this to an extent ), if they are in danger or alarmed, as well as feel their pain as their own. This merger also seems to benefit the rider's health, perhaps triggering magical properties in their blood, which could render them resistant to diseases or illnesses. They can even feel as the other passes away, which would be an incredibly tormenting and traumatic event.

From this subconsciously emotional connection can also come new challenges for both of them. When the bond is being developed, there is a clash of 'wills' so to speak, in which one part may push against the subconscious of the other, influencing their actions or even moods. For example, while a dragon is in the middle of the hunt, its rider may feel hunger, a surge of adrenaline, more violent tendencies, or altogether be repulsed by certain foods due to what the dragon is eating. If the rider is upset, the dragon may become violent and prone to 'disobedience', as it may confuse the emotional turmoil and act on it or against it. As the bond develops and solidifies, a balance will eventually come in which both dragon and rider will be able to distinguish their individual 'wills' by consolidating them into the bond. It will form a more effective communication, to the point where those more deeply forged bonds will allow for the rider to fly upon the dragon without even needing to voice instructions or commands of where to go or what to do. 

Usually, the stronger bonds are formed when both rider and dragon have grown together, since they were an infant and a hatchling, respectively. But there have been instances where older riders have bonded to mature dragons, and developed a strong and deeper connection quickly. Since the bond tends to depend on each individual rider and dragon's character and circumstances, then it's near impossible to set a standard for its intricacies. But what is known is how a rider may not claim another dragon, even if their own has perished, although a dragon may accept another rider if their previous one died. This may be due to the differences in the lifespans of human and dragon, the former expected to not reach old age and the latter being able to live over two centuries ( likely longer still ). Or it could also have to do with how the rider's blood has already forged a connection with the one dragon, and is unable of doing so again with another. It's yet another of the mysteries surrounding this bond.

As much as Vergil wanted to be offended by how defense this person was, he couldn't help but respect him for protecting what was his. It almost reminded him of the many fights with Dante and how he had to illustrate a giant 'V' on the cover so he knew that his younger brother was going through his things.

" Vergil replied as he gentle extended his hand. It felt odd not having his fingerless gloves, let alone the yamato at his side, but he didn't want to pose a threat to the witch.

Taking a moment to think, he decides to share a detail that he rarely share with anyone, but he was curious about the grimoire what information was inside. Maybe there could have been to add to his own skill set that he could use when fighting demons with brothers. " My mother was a very skilled and powerful Umbra Witch. I understand the importance of grimoires and how far they date back, I promise, " he typically never promised anything, not even to Dante. " I'll be respectful of your property. " If he was going to obtain any knowledge, seek anymore power he'd have to let some walls down in exchange. " Perhaps I can exchange knowledge for knowledge. " While his hand still extended he offers another smirk. " How much do you know about, demons? "

Hi! I was curious: Which characters do you find are the hardest and easiest for you to write?

Right now, there's an antagonist I'm looking forward to introduce even though I already know it'd be challenging, considering the additional in-game mechanics that will be included at the same time. I think they make a really good villain, and a very interesting one, too. I'm just hoping to pull it off well! 🙏

I don't know about "easiest" but I feel at ease the most when writing Alonzo. Their background and route itself are just very personal to me, and it's really fun writing their dialogue and expressions, especially with the edits I did. I just love them a lot tbh :')

lap reading for infants & reading while infants nap on laps

this mod adds two new interactions with infants:

sim reads a book to an infant sitting on their lap;

sim reads books and boosts skills while an infant naps on their lap.

requires the xml injector base game compatible

here's a look at the full animations:

male sims have the same animation, with a slight adjustment in leg position. both actions require a nearby couch, bench or living chair.  I didn't make the page-turning animation. i hope you don't mind — it would have made the process 10 times harder...

the books appear automatically. this is what a children's book looks like inside:

lap reading

to start "lap reading", go to the "friendly..." -> "activities".

after the activity, both the adult and the baby gains increases in their "social" and "fun" stats, plus the following buffs:

for this interaction, head over to the "baby care" menu -> "give baby a nap while reading...". you'll find several options here.

the "give a nap while reading fiction book" option only adds 'fun'. the other options add a smaller 'fun', but they help develop various skills (skills are only from the base game). the baby gains increases in "social" and "energy" stats.

after the action, both the adult and the child receive the following buffs:

note that if an infant has the 'hates being carried' trait, they will not receive the buff. similarly, an adult sim with the 'hates children' trait will not receive the buff.

i tried to make the action work for toddlers too, but i haven't figured out how yet. these interactions, like my previous mod "take a nap with infant", are based on the "give infant a nap" action. adapting them for toddlers requires deeper modding knowledge. i hope that either i or someone else in the modding community will figure out how to make it work in the future.
