I can only hope that this doesn't hit me as hard as it did when I was a kid. Or that by some miracle, I manage to avoid catching it in the first place.

I love the Cosmere, but Sanderson saying in his latest AMA that he chooses to stay in the Mormon faith/church/BYU because he believes it can be better than it is is truly so milquetoast. The entire beast that is the Mormon religion is so totally beyond salvation. It's a cult and Sanderson being liberal in regards to his beliefs doesn't change that fact. The institution as a whole is fucked up. It was just a really safe, weak response tbh and I wish that he'd actually denounce the fucking horrific atrocities the church has willingly sanctioned.

#I'm definitely able to divorce art from artist in most instances but in regard to his just general response #It fucking sucked.#Like mormonism didn't allow people of color into the church until the fucking 80s or 90s.#Like????#I'm all for respecting someone's beliefs but Sanderson is a public figure in the literary community #And his faith does not negate the truly fucked up shit Mormonism condones and perpetuates.

Yes, Greece still exists, we didn't all die 2000 years ago. Yes, people speak Greek. You people are so fucking stupid for real. So many of you claim to love ancient shit but can't even acknowledge the actual living culture of the people whose mythology and classics you romanticize. You keep leaving annoying comments about how you just forget Greek people still exist, thinking you're being quirky because you love ancient stuff soooo much that you forgot about the people it came from. You think about it so little you don't even realize that an actual Greek person has to read this shit, making it clear how little you actually care about the culture beyond the romanticized (and westernized) mythology. Don't claim you love Greece, don't use our mythology anymore if you can't acknowledge that we're still around without making it about how little you think about us.
