This is a secret project I have been doing on for a while being non college related that I finally wanted to share with all of you.

Thoughts on Power Ballads

I love a good power ballad (meaning I love power ballads). I decided to listen to a power ballad playlist on Spotify and let me tell you it has been an experience. Here is the definition and then my reactions.

An emotional rock song, generally focused on love, delivered with powerful vocals. noun.

Space Oddity by David Bowie: Huh, I guess this is a power ballad. Awesome!

Love Shack by The B-52s: lol now that I think about it, I guess it is.

The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy (not Skynard as I convinced myself): Huh, didn't think about this one.

Barracuda by Heart: Well yeah. My favorite Heart songs are their power ballads... Most of their songs are ballady. (OMFG I saw them live last year and holy fuck it was so amazing. I felt bad because they were the star of the tour but they followed Joan Jett and yeah, don't follow Joan Jett up with a band known for ballads.)

The uprising of flutes, the fucking addicting song (legit had a piano score for the song and I used to have it mostly memorized but I do have the lyrics down to still belt with the song). The how the fuck is the a rock song? It's a BALLAD!!

Seriously. Wtf. How in the world is that song a POWER ballad. There's very little "rock" to it. I refuse to accept it as a power ballad but you can bet your fucking ass if I'm in the shower or car alone I will belt along with the song because I am one of those girls.

Oh there were other songs where I was all "this is a ballad? I see the power." But My Heart Will Go On was the biggest HOW????
