30.09.23, saturday
I am a javascript god (me when i’m delusional and also lying)
things done today:
6h of trying to not suck at javascript (got it to work the way it’s supposed to (i’m hoping))
managed to carve out time to actually chill guilt-free (well,, mainly guilt-free, like 70%)
#i should sometime take the time to actually learn javascript instead of going on google search sprees at random intervals when I suddenly#need js for things#like it would be a lot easier to get a grip on it if I knew the basics#now i just know like random bits here and there#read#book#studyspo#booklr#studyblr#aesthetic#codeblr#books#study#reading#bookblr#stemblr#stem academia#dark academia#tw alcohol#alcohol tw#september 2023#2023

The problem with learning things backwards is that it's very hard to tell whether something is difficult because it is actually difficult or because I don't know what I'm doing.
#elumish blogs#elumish complains about learning javascript#book tagging database project#i would like it to tell me how many books are showing on screen at any given time#this requires figuring out exactly how the filtering is working#this requires getting the console log to return literally anything#well no i got it to return errors#i got it to return errors in sections i wasn't even touching

In his How To, he lists the skills hackers should acquire first:
Learn C.²²
Learn just a little bit of x86 assembler.²³ You don't have to be great at this at first, but you need to sort of kind of know what the fuck is going on.
Work through Hacking: The Art of Exploitation by Erickson.
Learn JavaScript.
Go through the big exploit archives. Star in the 1990s. Look through exploits. Figure out how they worked. Turn the clock forward to the modern era, so you slowly accustom yourself to newer exploitation techniques.
Get really good at x86 assembler, and learn IDA Pro and OllyDbg.
22. C is a general-purpose, machine-independent programming language that was used to write a range of well-known applications – from Windows operating systems to Oracle databases.
23. x86 assembler is a programming language used for time-sensitive applications and detailed software systems.

My brother: when programming, if you're having trouble getting something to work, think through the logic of what you're trying to accomplish
Me: the logic isn't the problem. jQuery is the problem
#elumish blogs#book tagging database project#i am going to learn so much JavaScript by the time i am done with this#i have so many ideas#and genuinely no idea how to do many of them#honestly learning about jquery did help#but the fact that i am working off of html knowledge from 15 years ago and the internet#is making this#difficult

Need to update my FAQ with better character recommendations. There are so many more books and movies to add. But ideally I would have pages for them you can sort by tags if tumblr would stop dicking me around and let me edit custom html themes.
#that way you can sort by queer books or guinevere books or whatever & find what you want!#same with movies#the lists I have now are fine but as they grow they become less effective#and it’s hard to find stuff based on what interests the specific fan#like maybe you want a movie with Orkney bros how do you find that#wish I could sort them…tumblr please#free me from javascript prison#my post

rlly thinking i should make a wimblet shimeji but idk how many would care. or actually want it
do you guys want a shimeji of this thing. of the way i draw hank. Do you want a hank shimeji that looks like mishandled playdoh. yea or nay

for the record. Shimejis r the little things that run across your desktop and cling to your tabs and can throw windows (you can turn this off). but they also sit around and climb the border of your monitor. which is cute and cool ithink.
#share this around for a bigger sample thanku#need results. For science and if i should do this or put it off for another morbillion years#i get so much stuff done without motivation (lie)#anyway#shimeji is javascript so it shouldnt be too hard to fiddle w it#make custom actions maybe probably#scratches my head a little#and th animation isnt bad its pretty simple#just the act of actually compiling everything together is gonna take a good bit#gonna take some pages out of the spamton shimeji’s book probably. or atleast study them#madness combat#hank j wimbleton#madness combat hank#madcom

AUGHH it would be Possible to add in events / whatever by poking around the code alone but doing so through rpgmaker mv would for sure be infinitely easier. can it go on sale already
#i am WAY unfamiliar w javascript beyond prewritten plugins for websites that i tweak tiny amounts. like in theory if i could track down--#--certain events i could piece together How they function and then put stuff together myself but without even knowing which map files are--#--for which areas ingame that would be a total pain. map14 is the train car u get the combat manual and map from and ik that solely bc of--#--the save book mod i got LOL
