OGH Dude i love Juno and Minerva so bad. For all yall who don't know while I love ducknerva with all my heart and SOUL. Duck x Juno x Minerva is ALSO A FAVE!!!! Specifically, when it comes to Juno and Minerva, Juno looks hella up to Minnie. Minerva is a strong girl boss who is powerful and every step she takes will shake the Earth, metaphorically, and so Juno can't help but look up to her. When Duck and Juno started dating again (in the amazon) she was around Minerva a lot and soon realized what it was like to be with this person, a literal warrior, and while she knew nothing about Earth, what she did know was beautiful and strong. Her knowledge of the world, the universe, it knew no bounds and watching Minerva in the world she knew so well, Juno found it charming. Juno helps Minerva out a lot when it's to much for Duck to try and teach her something. When it comes to Minerva views on Juno, she finds her hella relaxing. Juno and Duck both put her in this space of ease, knowing she doesn't have to be prepared for battle. But with Juno, it's a bit different than it is with Duck. With Duck she feels warm, stronger, relaxed with the fact that her partner in everything is right by her side. But with Juno, while she's relaxed she feels like there's no fight she needs to worry about at all. She feels grounded and like she has been on Earth her whole life. If that make any sense LMAO

When the sea nymph Thetis married Peleus, hero of Thessaly, all the gods were invited but one—Eris, goddess of discord. Annoyed at this slight, she appeared anyway, wreaking havoc by tossing into the crowd an apple inscribed "To the fairest one." Juno/Hera, Venus/Aphrodite, and Minerva/Athena would scramble for the prize and agreed to the Judgement of Paris, setting in motion the events that led to the Trojan War because Venus bribed Paris with the most beautiful mortal woman in the world, Helen of Sparta!

Assassin's Creed x Dreaming of Sunshine brainstorm/fake fic summaries/spring cleaning (2023-03-18)

Back when I was in the throes of my Could/Should/Actually phase, I was also reading a lot of esama’s Assassin’s Creed fic and my brain, as per usual, went: but what if DoS? And so it started churning different types of crossovers which I lightly noted down but never pursued. I then ran into chamiryokuroi’s art, specifically that of Desmond’s son Elijah, who kind of has the memories/personality of an Isu in him. THEN those earlier notes that were percolating in my head then scrambled a bit because instead of separate AUs, my brain just smooshed them all together and then also brought up the critical point that was stopping me earlier:

In an Assassin’s Creed AU/crossover, the nearest equivalent to Desmond—genetically crafted by the Isu (who humans know as gods, aka Minerva, Juno, etc) in order to be at the right place at the right time—isn’t Shikako or even Naruto, but Sasuke. Especially going with wafflelate’s idea that the different Mangekyo Sharingan powers (also named after gods!) are indicative of different Uchiha lineages with a slight extrapolation that multiple lineages merging earlier on is why Sasuke (and Itachi) has so many different Sharingan powers. Oh, also, Desmond has something called the Eagle Eye which basically gives him psychic powers like the Sharingan.

Although, speaking of Itachi. I guess what I should have said is that the nearest equivalent to Desmond is actually Itachi—the perfect son who has all the tools and all the abilities and all the expectations of the world—while Sasuke is the spare, aka Clay (who had some of the lineages that the bad guys wanted but not all of them and not as much). Although, you know, not as bleak a future… And that’s about as much as I know of Assassin’s Creed because like many things, I mostly know it through fanfiction, fanart, and watching my friend play ACIII nearly a decade ago.

Anyways, with that in mind. My brain continued that since I wanted both sets of characters to exist as opposed to shoving Team Seven into the AC plot, that I should figure out what Team Seven was doing while the AC plot is going on since, you know, the sun burning up the planet is a pretty big deal. So obviously the sun is a problem, but presumably Minerva via Desmond had that covered. Either they fail and everyone’s dead anyway, or they succeed but there’s other stuff that needs to be considered. Such as: THE MOOOOOOOOOOON. But in all seriousness, I don’t super know how it would work, but even if Minerva via Desmond protects the planet from the initial massive solar flare, wouldn’t there be lingering excess energy or a secondary blast/wave reflected off the moon? I don’t know enough about pseudo science to know if my pseudo science makes sense.

Regardless. Excess energy or secondary wave on the side of the planet that has the moon, aka, Japan in the middle of the night (since I think the solar flare happened in the morning in New York?) And it’s pretty thematic, for Naruto canon at least, that the moon is the problem (whether or not we want to bring up Kaguya’s alien nonsense… although that is a pretty good equivalent for Juno’s evil in the AC side)

Anyway, the reason why chamiryokuroi’s art reinitiated this brainstorm is that, hey, obviously I love when Shikako is an OP almost literal deus ex machina. And Elijah almost literally has a “god” in him. Which Shikako also has had, or maybe the reverse, what with Gelel. And then whatever her beef with Jashin is. So either the Isu that Shikako has is Gelel (which is much kinder and benign that who Elijah is stuck with) or it’s “Shikabane-hime” and the personality sort of… glitched so that instead of taking over the body, muahahaha, style it just grew up as a person as in DoS. Although I’m a little handwaving how AC Sages work since apparently that relies on lineages/genetics (even though it somehow skipped Desmond but Elijah is one?) So either Shikako is an “artificial” Sage via picking up the Gelel stone or she’s a “natural” Sage and Shikabane-hime is just a chill Isu instead of the other muahahahaha evil Isu.

Then, to make Naruto match, what if, instead of Pieces of Eden (alien technology that seems like magic) the Isu on this hemisphere went with the bijuu? Maybe they were originally created to absorb the excess solar energy but over the millennia developed sentience. Or maybe they always had sentience which is what caused the Sage of Six Paths to rebel against the other gods (and also the human slavery en masse might have contributed) and while the bijuu remember the early days humans with their ever short lives forgot and so the bijuu grew bitter and resentful etc. etc.

So that’s the world building.

The plot of this fic I’m probably not going to write is actually my way of combining the three different AUs I thought of for the Could/Should/Actually and incorporating it into the above world building:

Subject Seven, like many of Desmond’s predecessors, died before they could ever meet. Whatever she learned in the Animus she never told Vidic or, at least, it never made it onto any Abstergo files.

STAY CALM. DON’T REACT. Desmond can’t tell if this is a new twist to the Bleeding Effect or if he’s unlocked something else in his Eagle Vision, but now he’s reading the shadows on the walls and that can’t be normal.

“Juno, huh,” says the girl in green, the only spot of color in the vast expanse of The Grey. “I had Jashin.”

Obviously, the way to fix 1 is simply Shikako faked her death and escaped. Or even Abstergo’s internal communications between departments is garbage and the team that was working on Sages just up and yoinked her from the Animus project. And also, what’s kinda fun about this (in a horrifying people being experimented on against their will kind of way) is that in order for Shikako to be Subject Seven while Desmond is Subject Seventeen and not have her be so much older than him (or even so much older than what I'm used to seeing her as in DoS, although this coming from me who writes future fic, lol) that means she was very young when she was Subject Seven. So we could have canonically badass twelve-fourteen year old Shikako in this seemingly normal world and then she has a full decade of being badass in time to help with Desmond’s side.

Although, in order to best incorporate 2 and 3, what an author who is not me could imply is that she died for realsies and ended up in The Grey (which from my understanding is like the coding space behind the world where Calculations aka sealing is done and might also be the afterlife but perhaps is only the afterlife specifically for Juno who hid herself in technology so that she could pop out millennia after all the other Isu had died and fuck with humanity). And from the Grey she can manipulate shadows, as in 2, and also meet Desmond “in person” as in 3 when he dies after the planet saving thing he does in AC canon.

And then the fun reveal is that, hey, The Grey isn’t actually an afterlife. It’s a pocket dimension from where you can manipulate the real world through strength of will. I’m not dead and neither are you, also would you like to meet my friends I feel like they could probably help you deal with the fact that your entire existence was a manipulation by beings that died over 75000 years ago because they have similar experiences. Would I have more relevant/similar experiences having been an Animus subject and having been in The Grey? Maybe, but I also contain the personality/memories of an Isu and I wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable.

Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted is one way to interpret the creed. A more accurate way would be to say Nothing is Immutable, Everything is Possible, but that’s just not as catchy. Or, the Isu had their Calculations, but Shikako has sealing and that’s way more fun.

There was something you always enjoyed about the going to the library.

Perhaps it was the way every single person that walked through the threshold had a purpose. A mission to complete. Perhaps it was the quiet. The solace you felt sitting alone in a corner researching various topics, for class and for recreational purposes.

The university library had quickly become your second home. A location you frequented more than your own dorm room. It wasn’t always to study, no. You people watched. Doodled. Even napped there from time to time. The place brought you peace, and by the time you senior year rolled around, you saw the librarians more than your college friends.

The university library was also the place where you first met a certain young brunette genius - which in time became the main reason why you liked it so much.

Lights were slowly being turned off section by section. A vacuum came to life in one of the aisles. People started to scramble from their seats - shoving their things into their backpacks, throwing out empty coffee cups into the overflowing bins, checking out books they might still use that evening.

All signs indicating it was time to go.

Dolly, one of the librarians, ushered towards you. Her jacket draped over her shoulders, her bag in hand. She gave you the usual spiel of how you can stay until the janitor is finished cleaning, to which you politely nodded along. She wished you a pleasant night, and with a “see you tomorrow” she hurried out the door.

Once she was out of sight, you groaned under your breath and ran your fingers through your hair. You had an assignment due tomorrow, one you started hours ago and only managed to formulate three total sentences. Your gut was telling you there was no way you were going to finish now, especially since you had about thirty minutes until you would have to leave.

Leaning back in your chair, you fluttered your eyes closed in an attempt to collect your thoughts. The tranquil feeling didn't last long as you were abruptly brought back to reality by a loud bang. You quickly sat back up and scanned the space for the source of the noise.

A tall brunette man, not much older than you, stood a few tables away, a heavy looking book at his feet and a shameful look spread across his features.

“The library is closed for the night.” You stated. The brunette scrunched his nose briefly. “B-but you’re here.” He remarked before leaning down to pick up the book he dropped.

“I have permission to be here.”

“What if I do too?” He challenged, taking a step towards you although still keeping a safe distance.

You folded your arms across your chest and arched a brow. “Well, do you?”

The brunette didn't respond. Instead, you noticed how his cheeks flushed a shade of red, how he clutched the book to his chest, and how his fingers tightened around the strap of his bag.

You couldn't help but smirk as you let your arms fall back down to your side.

“I’m just kidding. Come on, join me.” You said, pointing to to the chair across the table from you. “We have about twenty-five minutes before we get kicked out, might as well make the most of it.”

He hesitated for a split second, hovering in his spot. It wasn't until you turned your attention completely away from him, and back to the book in front of you, that he made his move.

“You’re not some sort of killer, are you? You’re not here to murder me?” You asked, looking up as he sat down. His eyes widened and he quickly shook his head in response. “Ehm... N-no.”

“That wasn't a very reassuring no, but I guess I’ll take it.” You nudged in response, and proceeded to work away on your assignment. As you worked, you could feel his eyes burning into you.

In any other situation, with any other stranger, the feeling would have made you uncomfortable. But there was something about the timid stranger that was quite welcoming.

“I-I actually, uhm, I profile serial killers. I help catch them.” He said after a moment of silence. Once again, you glanced up from your notes to look at him. Intrigue greeting your facial features. “I just started with the FBI.” He stated.

It wasn't a brag. No. It was a statement to make you feel more safe, and you couldn't help but smile at him. “So, mister FBI, what are you doing in a university library on a Thursday night?”

“Doctor.” He corrected.

“What?”

“Doctor FBI.” He said, corners of his lips twitching upwards. “I have PhDs in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering.” Now, that was a brag.

You chuckled softly. “You don't happen to have a PhD in History under your belt, do you? Because that would be very helpful right about now.”

“No, but I do have an eidetic memory and can read twenty-thousand words per minute.” He declared. You stared at him in disbelief, your mouth parting ever so slightly in shock.

“Did they make you in a lab or something?” You teased, although you could tell he didn't find it amusing. He furrowed his brows, lips pursed into thin line. You chewed down on your bottom lip, feeling slightly ashamed for poking fun at the guy who was nothing but be nice to you. “I’m sorry.” You mumbled faintly. “That was rude.”

“It’s okay.” He quickly reassured, and shot you a timid smile. The two of you stared silently at one another. There was something amicable about the seconds that passed as you looked into his hazel eyes. Something harmonious. Friendly. Strong.

You cleared your throat. “There uhm, there’s this dinner not far from here. It’s twenty-four hours so they won't kick us out. Would you like to come with me? We can share a pie. I mean, if you’re into that. Or, or we can just have coffee-”

“Y-yes, I would love to.” The young doctor answered all too quickly causing you to grin at him.

Soon enough you were both packed up and up on your feet, heading towards the library exit.

There wasn’t a cloud in the sky making the million stars shine all that brighter. They looked like perfect sugar granules spilled on a dark surface, accompanied by the glowing moonlight. Breathtaking.

Street lamps glittered ahead, illuminating the streets. The two of you walked side by side, almost in sync.

“Does that big brain of yours possess information on Roman gods?” You asked while nonchalantly hopping up on the curb. You spread out your arms like a tightrope walker, and with one foot carefully placed in front of the other you continued your journey.

The wind blew lightly through your hair, your brunette companion observing quietly. A smile creeping up on his lips. “Because if you do, I might ask for your help with an assignment.” You glanced at him briefly.

“I-I do actually, ehm. The... The Ancient Romans were extremely religious, and believed their success was due to their strong beliefs. They believed that if you maintained a good relationship with the gods, they would be kind to you.” He briskly cleared his throat. “There were twelve Olympian Gods in total. Jupiter, Juno, Mars, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Apollo, Diana, Minerva, Ceres, Vulcan, and Vesta...”

You let out a soft kindhearted laugh. “Okay doctor FBI, slow down. Wait until we get to the diner so I can really appreciate your genius.”

He blushed, feeling thankful that the darkness around prevented you from seeing. “It’s Spencer. My name, uhm, my name is Spencer.”

You stopped in your tracks and elegantly hopped off the curb. Spencer turned in his spot so that he was now facing you completely, only an arms reach away.

“Spencer...” You tested the name on your tongue, a smile embellishing your features. “It suits you.” You retorted before proceeding to introduce yourself, “I’m Y/N. It’s nice to meet you, Spencer.”

The Dii Consentes/Dei Consentes

  The Dii Consentes is an “ancient list of twelve major deities, six gods and six goddesses, in the pantheon of Ancient Rome” (x).

  The Dii Consentes are made up of:

GODDESSES:  Juno, Vesta, Minerva, Ceres, Diana, Venus GODS: Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune, Vulcan, Apollo

  Livy, a Roman historian, classifies them into six ‘male-female’ pairs: Jupiter & Juno, Neptune & Minerva, Mars & Venus, Apollo & Diana, Vulcan & Vesta and Mercury & Ceres. 

  Together, these twelve gods form the council of Jupiter. While wikipedia clearly lists the names of all the gods that are part of the Dii Consentes, another source, pantheon.org, claims that it’s actually uncertain who the members of the Dii Consentes were, but the only members we know for certain are: Juno, Minerva, Summanus, Vulcan, Saturn, and Mars. 

  According to Etruscan theology, the Dii Consentes apparently rule over the world and time. 

  The concept of the Dii Consentes is similar to the Twelve Olympians in Greek Mythology. Though apparently the concept of the “Twelve Gods” is older than Greek and Roman sources.

They never said how the device would work.

That's the bitter realisation Desmond is left with as he emerges from the cave, two weeks into the end of the world as he knew it, barely in time before his food supplies run out and far far too late to actually do anything. Two weeks of digging and almost completely ineffectual mining and hauling stone, trying to clear a path through the collapsed entrance while the earth rumbled and shuddered and the Grand Temple threatened to collapse around him. Two weeks of constant work and stress and unwillingness to give up in face of probably grim reality. Two weeks of trying, of hoping, of fearing.

Two weeks, and he finds not only a world in fire - but a people transformed.

The first one he finds is Shaun, fallen over by the van. He's frozen in the act of reaching for something - the door handle? Rebecca? Maybe he was holding something. Either way, his hand is so reaching out as he lies there on his side, like a statue tipped over, still trying to run. He was shouting - he looks like he's still shouting.

Rebecca is inside the van, still trying to put the seatbelt on, her hands gripping nothing. She's slightly tipped over too, her forehead resting where the window had been, glass shards at the bottom still clinging to the frame, scraping at her neck without doing any damage. Her face is twisted in a look of grief and determination.

Bill is sitting behind the wheel, still clutching it in one hand, his other on the gearshift. He's twisted around, looking over his shoulder - like he's about to back away from the cave mouth. His mouth is open in a snarl, like he'd been saying something - telling Shaun to hurry up.

Neither Minerva nor Juno said how the device would work, how it would save people. Only touch the pedestal and everyone will be saved.

The people, and not the world. The world didn't need saving. What did the planet care about a solar flare? It had gone through dozens of them and it shrugged them off like a bad case of cold - and if everything got burned and destroyed on the surface then… that was the surface's problem. Give it a couple hundred, thousand, maybe a couple hundred thousand years, and life would return. On a geological timescale, that's nothing.

The people will be saved. And they had been.

Shaun, Rebecca, Bill - all three are stiff, but not like stone. Rather, they are stone - three solid stone statues, forever caught in the act of trying to escape, frozen in place in and by a van that had been burned to a husk around them as the forest fires swept through Turin. The fires are still going and the earth is still shaking but it's not putting a dent on the people - because they'd been saved.

Perfectly preserved, exactly as they were, in granite.

Desmond in The Last of Us?

So basically my idea is that Desmond saved Joel and Ellie from like a clicker or something, and then he goes through this whole thing where eventually they all trust each other. Then it's revealed that Ellie's immune to the infection and Desmond's had enough shit done to him to know being the 'chosen one' isn't all it's cranked up to be. So he tries to convince Joel not to take her to the firefly's, but he's a stubborn son of a bitch and goes ahead anyway.

Eventually Desmond reveals his whole backstory without telling them about the Animus, and basically has heard enough of Shawn's ramblings about antibiotics to know that killing Ellie really isn't the way to go.

Maybe you can incorporate some Assassin's in there or something, like they find a PoE or time travel bullshit or whatever.

Soooo, just in case someone hasn’t checked it out yet, esama has a wonderful The Last of Us x Assassin’s Creed Crossover called Old Dogs so anyone who wants a The Last of Us x Assassin’s Creed crossover, try giving it a read.

Since you want a setup where Desmond is alive during the story of the Last of Us Part 1, we’ll focus on setting that up first.

This could work with the game as well but the TV show gives us a fun way to mesh both lore as it set up the outbreak in 2013 so we can push the Desmond saga’s plotline in this setting. When Desmond saved the world from the Solar Flare, it had an unknown side effect.

Humans didn’t realize it and went on their merry way. The Assassins and Templars didn’t notice it too because both organizations were still busy with Desmond Miles.

To be more exact, Desmond Miles who had survived activating the device because he was pushed out at the last minute, barely clinging to life.

He doesn't know if it was his fault, if his wish to live had been the reason why he was able to pull back, or if Minerva had a hand in it because the last thing he heard was Juno’s screaming Minerva’s name filled with murderous rage before she slowly faded away.

This did mean that the device had stopped before the Solar Flare ended and…

Sure, the Aurora Borealis that shrouded the entire world managed to shield the world from the flare but, because it was stopped too early, it had unintentionally caused a mutation to certain plants, due to the powerful solar flare and the Aurora Borealis’ suddenly being stopped.

Not that anyone knew about it.

Not even the Assassins or the Templars.

They were too busy with the Templars trying to save Desmond’s life because he was more useful to them alive while also evading the Assassins trying to rescue him.

So when the outbreak began, everyone was caught surprised, too engulfed in their war that sounded so petty now that the world was going to shit.

The outbreak did give the Assassins the chance to save Desmond and Desmond spends years trying to get his body to work the way it used to, which was becoming harder to do considering the state of the world which meant supplies and equipment necessary for his recovery were becoming harder and harder to get.

That is how he loses contact with his team.

It started out with Bill not returning after a supply run. Something was definitely wrong and, without Bill to lead them, the unity between the remaining Assassins (that they could rendevous with) begin to fray and stretch too thin for comfort.

Then their base was hit by infected and clickers…

Desmond wasn’t even sure how it had happened.

Did someone unintentionally lead them to their base?

Just a case of bad luck?

In the end, he was separated from Rebecca and Shaun, and escorted away by other Assassins who later fell.

Some got infected.

Others simply… never returned.

By the time Desmond was left all alone, his body had healed just enough for him to move for perhaps two to three hours before needing to take a break.

But that was enough.

It was enough for him to start looking for his missing team.

He becomes sort of a wanderer, sneaking in and out of quarantine zones to look for anyone he might know and to get any information he might be able to get.

That’s how he heard of how the Fireflies were trying to find a cure.

He figured that if Shaun or Rebecca were still alive, they would try to find a cure as well so he started to make his way to any base even just rumored to one of the Fireflies’ and that’s how his path intersected with Ellie and Joel.

Joel would definitely be suspicious of him, that’s for damn sure, and Ellie would be too in the beginning then they would start to talk and they’d bond over bad jokes and how Desmond is fine talking about the ‘old world’.

Also, Desmond knows a lot about the 'ancient world' and Joel wondered if he was a history teacher or student before the outbreak.

It would be Desmond’s friendship with Ellie that would start to warm Joel to him because he could see how much Ellie is having fun when she’s talking to Desmond and Desmond seemed to care for them even if Joel knows that he's hiding something.

Then again, everyone was hiding something anyway.

Ellie would also be the one to explain why they’re going to the Fireflies and about how she’s immune to the infection, maybe even joking about being the ‘Chosen One’.

And even if Desmond had revealed his past (although he did change the whole ‘saved the world because assholes named me the chosen one’ to ‘my genetic makeup was the key to start the device because it was a family thing… sorta’), it didn’t stop Joel and Ellie, especially since all they know is that the Fireflies need Ellie to find a cure, it's not like they know what the Fireflies plan to do to Ellie (although Desmond has a bad feeling he can't explain).

All it did was make Ellie ask more about being an Assassin and poking Desmond to teach her some stuff.

It did end up being worth it though because of Desmond’s inclusion in their party and Ellie’s very basic stealth skills changed the course of the story so that Joel wouldn’t be as heavily wounded as he was in canon.

There’s still the whole bunny scene but it’s more of Desmond teaching Ellie how to hunt using a bow, reminding Desmond of how Ratonhnhaké:ton was taught by his mother.

Their encounter with David’s gang would also be different because Desmond would be suspicious as fuck with them.

(And… Nolan North voices the David so… I guess we can make a joke of how David sounds a lot like Desmond?)

In the end, they get to the Fireflies all in one piece and Desmond finally realizes what’s been bugging him all this time.

The Fireflies’ slogan:

“When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light.”

He understood it was meant to give a sense of hope but, at the same time, it felt like a slogan that the Brotherhood would not use.

When he joins Joel and Ellie at the Fireflies’ headquarters, he’s immediately separated from them and that’s when he realized…

The Fireflies were connected with Abstergo.

That was all Desmond’s reason to beat the crap out of the people in charge of keeping him away (although he didn’t kill them… yet…) and he takes the time to snoop around for information. That’s how he learned of their plans for Ellie so he stormed the awkward meeting Joel, Ellie and Marlene.

From there, it’s really up to Ellie on what will happen next. Joel would absolutely be against her doing it and Desmond would be too but Marlene would tell them it’s Ellie’s choice to make, maybe even lay the guilt thick by reminding everyone that Ellie’s the only known one immune to it but Desmond would call bullshit on her plan because it’s just dumb that they’re going to start with the brain already when they can start with some kind of test using her blood or something else.

When Marlene didn't say anything, that’s when Desmond realized.

Ellie’s not the first person to be immune with it.

But she’s the only one still alive.

Because…

The Fireflies…

No.

Abstergo has been conducting experiments with the ones with immunity.

And that’s when another person enters the room to tell them…

“Those with high Isu genes are immune, it seems, but no matter what we do, we could not produce a cure using their blood. You don’t even know you’re immune as well, do you? Of course not, you Assassins would never let yourselves be hit even once, especially you, Desmond Miles.”

Desmond has only seen her face once, during Shaun’s summary of the Abstergo hierarchy.

Sofia Rikkins stared at Desmond as she said, “But perhaps the one with the highest Isu genes would be different. Perhaps you would hold the cure…”

“What do you say then… We’ll let the girl go. In exchange…” Sofia offered her hand to Desmond as she said, “Become the savior of mankind once more, Desmond Miles.”
