There’s an element to the demon designs in KNY that I am like not getting over. The extent to which their physical forms change can be connected to extent their personality changes idk if I’m being clever w this and it’s most notably the kizuki. And I think this also links to what they can remember.

E.g Gyutaro as a human, although he very much was a product of his environment, still revelled in the cruelty he inflicted. As a demon he’s just taller w different clothes, his insecurities that he still keeps far more visible. He remembered his life in extreme poverty because it shaped his personality

Rui on the other hand completely changes: his hair, eyes, clothes and even skin. Nothing stays the same because Rui was a sweet boy who just wanted to go play in the snow and that was taken advantage of. And as a demon he’s cruel, manipulative and abusive. (My poor boy TT) Rui forgot about his parents and goals because he couldn’t have them anymore. He wants family but it’s sure why entirely

The same for Akaza, Hakuji was of course capable of violence but he didn’t want to act upon it. He wanted to live happily with his wife and was of course forcibly turned after murdering a lot of people in revenge. Akaza is playful and mocking with humans and loyal to an employer he doesn’t care for. And so his hair, eyes, skin clothes etc are completely different. Akaza almost entirely forgot about his wife, but I love that she was still very present in everything he did <3 Like Rui w family, she’s still significant but he can’t remember why

And of course, Nezuko. After being turned, her personality and values dominated her desire to eat. Her clothes, the checkered pattern her family wears, doesn’t change at all. Her hair does and of course that’s symbolic but she still keeps her little bow. Nezuko, of course, gradually remembered what happened to her mother and siblings and she doesn’t get much of a chance to really process it but family and protection is the entire reason her and her brother’s journey even began.

She chooses to make a choice in who she wants to perceive as family, even if they’re demons (Yushiro and Tamayo) and lets herself burn in the sunlight to save her brother.

Anyways Nezuko is underrated and I love her very very much and I keep this design philosophy in mind when designing demons.

E.g. Yuzuka’s personality didn’t change too much, she already was cruel to an extent, apathetic and selfish. And so she doesn’t change too notibly, even in her colour palette. Aside from the addition of the purple belladonna pattern and her lack of eyes.

Truly saying I agree with the part where Tanjiro was screaming at him but if I was in ds au, I swear I would scream at all the demons saying, " y'all ugly ass shit act like you own the world when you're literally afraid of a fuckin sort of ray/light. If y'all are just so happen to be sigma man why tf y'all don't come out at morning. Let's talk then bitch. Like honey we have gone through this, you all demons are old enough to not die but understand that playing hide n seek in the dark is not the bravest thing. Renmistu have a mentor and mentee relationship, and mitsuri sees him as a brother, right? Inotan see each other as siblings and inosuke treats tanjiro like his older brother, right?

Then that arises the question:

Why are people fine with inotan, but are so gaslit about renmitsu? /gen

I don't see much of a difference between the two except the fact that one of them is gay and the other is not.

Attention Demon Slayer Fans!

Hey, y'all! I am here to rant about one of the worst takes I've seen on Demon Slayer!

Muzan is intentionally sending gradually more powerful demons Tanjirou's way, and hasn't learned to just yeet Kokushibou or Douma at the kid.

If you don't want to read me being ticked at the fools who say this, move along now.

Uh... No, he f-ing isn't? Muzan specifically and intentionally sent a grand total of 4 demons after Tanjirou. Out of the 12(13 if you consider Daki and Gyutarou separate units, and *math noises* 18 if you count all the Hantengu clones as separate units) demons Tanjirou fights before the Infinity Castle Arc. That isn't even half of the demons he fought on-screen! It's a quarter or a third, at most! And again, these are all the demons he faces on-screen!

Demons Muzan sent specifically to go after Tanjirou: Susamaru and Yahaba, Enmu, and Akaza.

List of Demons Tanjirou just happened to come across: Temple Demon, Hand Demon, Swamp Demon, Kyogai, Rui, Akaza if he wasn't sent after Tanjirou, the one demon he fought in episode 1 of the RLD Arc, Gyutarou and Daki, Hantengu.

AKA Tanjirou's just accidentally stumbling across the vast majority of the demons he fights, and those demons happen to be getting gradually more powerful. Muzan didn't even know Tanjirou was in Yoshiwara or the Swordsmith's Village! He just happened to be there! Hell, Muzan did try to do the smart thing by sending Akaza after Enmu got killed! And also by amping up Enmu with more blood and sending him after Tanjirou when Rui was killed! Muzan just didn't think to account for training and Kamado stubbornness! So that failed, and Muzan lost Tanjirou after Enmu died and Akaza bolted because he no longer had a sentient GPS on Tanjirou! Which brings me to another point!

"If Tanjirou keeps killing the powerful demons, why doesn't Muzan just send Kokushibou or Douma?"

Muzan doesn't know where Tanjirou is once his demons are dead! He has little to no way of knowing how much longer Tanjirou will be in an area for, so why send one of his heavy hitters if the guy he's sending them to isn't even there! Especially cuz Douma's running a cult, and it's be awkward if he just poofed him elsewhere in the middle of a thing. Kokushibou's doing dick knows what, but he's just as likely to have a freakout as Muzan is. And Nakime's Blood Demon Art doesn't work in sunlight! Even if it did, the more powerful demon he sent to kill Tanjirou and capture Nezuko after the Swordsmith Village Arc would be a crispy pile of ashes in about 2 seconds(probably less)!

And in the RLD Arc? He clearly assumed Gyutarou was competent enough to handle the situation and Daki had managed to soften Tanjirou up enough to make it easy for Gyutarou to kill him. If not for there being other Slayers(specifically, Tengen, who is a Hashira for a reason and therefore highly skilled and competent) in the fight, Tanjirou would have been dead. Hell, maybe Muzan did think Tanjirou was dead post-RLD. And then the mf shows up in the Swordsmith Village, terrorizing Muzan's cells, and the man was probably cussing up a storm the whole time!

These are the in-universe explanations! Out of universe, Tanjirou is the protagonist and needs to get stronger to face stronger demons. Basic shounen logic(even if the plot armour isn't as bad as some people make it out to be). But anyone who says Muzan intentionally sent five different(and gradually more powerful) ranks of the Twelve Kizuki after Tanjirou is spitting BS.

Remember, we as the viewers have a degree of omniscience. We know where Tanjirou is in relation to these demons. Muzan does not. Therefore, we cannot expect him to act the way we would with our omniscience.

I personally don’t know why people ship Daki with anyone… especially with Muzan.-

Just because Daki blushed at the sight of seeing Muzan was because of the praise. LITERALLY IMAGINE IF YOU WERE AN UPPER RANK DEMON AND YOU GOT PRAISED BY YOUR OWN MASTER.

You would 1.) done the same or 2.) you would’ve been happy. (I mean imagine if this happened to Kokushibo and Muzan and I mean they are “business partners”.)

The fact that Muzan sees Daki as a “stupid child” aka possibly meaning that he doesn’t like her, makes the ship not even make sense….

“But they look good together.”

“Daki isn’t a minor tho.”

No they don’t look good together. And whether Daki is a minor or not Muzan is over 1,000 years old. What a god damn age gap. Plus Muzan is too busy being a coward and tryna find the blue spider Lilly.

And oh shit… there is Doma and Daki…

My question is why?

Thank goodness there is more Doma x Akaza…. Because that ship is wayyyy better thank Doma x Daki.

Why?

Well didn’t Doma technically “raise” Gyutaro and Daki? They were very young when they became demons and I personally think that Douma wouldn’t eat a burned corpse of a 13 year old orian.

Yes he eats women, but he didn’t eat Kotoha tho…. (But since she found out about the identity he ate her. But that’s fair and any demon would do it)

People headcanoning Doma as a pedophile needs some help. Like seriously.

One last thing:

Headcanoning Daki as a lesbian is understandable. Her and Gyutaro grew up very poor and their mother died…

Gyutaro raised Daki when he was very young himself… and Daki selling her body to men at the age of 13 is just sick. But she had to do it because they were poor… and Gyutaro was a debt collector.

She also wounded a samurai’s eye because he insulted her own brother…. And the fact that she was literally burned for it would likely affect her attraction towards men.

Of course she became a demon and forgot all of that. But since she became a part of Muzan’s upper rank 6 she had to continue as an orian just to help Muzan’s cover.

Man I love demon slayer. But people are just so messed up in the head sometimes….

My Theory of Muzan's Illness

CONTAINS MANGA SPOILERS!

Muzan's illness is a crucial part of his character and is ultimately the reason why all the events in "Demon Slayer" take place. Although we are given some information about his symptoms, we are never told exactly what illness he suffered from.

The most we know comes from one of the later chapters of the manga.

Before he was born, Muzan's heart stopped multiple times. When he was born, he had no pulse and was not breathing. We also know that according to his doctor(s), his life expectancy was around 20 years of age.

Some other key factors about Muzan are that he is very pale and was physically weak. In the manga, his human self is only shown being bed-ridden. In the anime, he is shown being able to walk on his grounds, but displayed difficulty walking when going to get the knife to kill the doctor. It is unknown how much his movement difficulty had to do with his illness and how much of it was an effect from the Blue Spider Lily medication that was making him a demon. However, he does say in the anime something like "It doesn't matter how many times they examine me or give me medicine, they can't stop my degenerating state of health". This could hint that the condition he was in when he decided to kill the doctor was nothing unusual. Muzan felt that the medicine the doctor gave him and was preparing for him was useless and not providing any effects, so out of spite and anger, he decided to kill him.

There are other physical features about Muzan to note. In his anime backstory, he is shaded to have greying under his eyes, that sort of resembles swelling.

In the manga, his human form appears to have some kind of puffiness under his eyes.

Another thing to note is that as a demon, Muzan also sports blue fingernails at times when accessing his power. Many times, a demon's powers hold some connection to their human lives.

These traits of his could be connected to the symptoms of Congenital Heart Defects. Some symptoms of congenital heart defects (from infancy or childhood) include:

+ pale grey or blue tongue or fingernails + rapid breathing + swelling in the legs, belly, or areas around the eyes + shortness of breath + easy tiring during exercise or activity As well, a Google search of "how long do babies with congenital heart disease live" gives me the result that about 75% of babies born with a critical CHD survive one year of age and from then about 69% are expected to live until adulthood. This is taking into account modern medical advances and diagnoses. Muzan, being born around the year 900, is very lucky to have survived infancy, and would have most likely not have been able to live into adulthood (hence the 20-year lifespan he was given). From all of this, I would diagnose Muzan with congenital heart disease, but as I'm not a doctor and didn't study medicine, I'd be curious if anyone with a medical background has more information to add!

For my sister, I leaned pretty heavily into medicine, giving her a role more similar to that of Shinobu within the Corps: not primarily a fighter, and helping treat wounds sustained by other slayers in battle as a healer. My sister is, in the real world, a doctor, and I have massive respect for the amount of hard work she’s put into getting to where she is now. She’s such an inspiration honestly <3

You wanna know one head canon I don't understand with Demon Slayer? The Blue Spider Lily Soup head canon. What is this head canon? It's the head canon that Tanjirou and Nezuko are immune to sunlight as demons because their mother(Kie, who knew the location of the Blue Spider Lily on Mount Kumotori) fed them and their siblings a soup made from the Blue Spider Lily.

I have one question. Uh, where did this come from?

Because nothing in canon indicates this to even be remotely true. It is stated nowhere on the wiki for the blue spider lily, there's nothing in the manga, and I feel like someone would have mentioned if it was in the fanbooks or any other official material. It only says that Kie and Tanjirou are the only people who knew where the Blue Spider Lily bloomed, that the Blue Spider Lily was a key ingredient in what turned Muzan into a demon, and that Muzan seeks the flower to(supposedly , but we're gonna come back to that) conquer the sun.

What about this told fans, "Yep, Kie made this rare flower into a soup she fed to her kids!".

Aren't spider lilies poisonous?! The blue ones probably are, too, if you don't process them right! Even if the Blue Spider Lily wasn't poisonous... What reason would Kie have to even pick them? Much less use them for soup? Especially with the knowledge that regular spider lilies are poisonous. Why would Kie take that risk with her own children?

Not to mention that whole "Turned a Dude Into an Immortal, Man-Eating Monster Back in the Heian Era" thing. We don't know what exactly was in Muzan's medicine aside from the Blue Spider Lily, but we can assume it was all organic materials because I'm 99% sure antibiotics didn't exist in the pre-1000's Muzan was born in. Hell, it may have just been the flower, processed a certain way if it was poisonous, and crushed into a powder to be consumed. That's another reason why the theory falls apart. With the Blue Spider Lily being such a key component in turning Muzan, if Kie gave her kids the Blue Spider Lily Soup, why doesn't Kie have a bunch of accidental demon children running amok?!

And then we come back to Muzan wanting the Blue Spider Lily to supposedly conquer the sun. Plain and simple, and correct me if I'm wrong, we don't have concrete knowledge that the Blue Spider Lily would actually do that. Only Muzan's word, and I am not trusting that guy as far as I can throw him(Which isn't far. I am not a strong human, what makes you think I'm yeeting Muzan?). So without being certain of its effects, aside from turning a person into a demon progenitor, we can't guarantee that's why Nezuko and Tanjirou conquered the sun.

But you know what we do have, canonically, that could allow our intrepid heroes to conquer the sun?

Oh, I don't know, maybe Sun Breathing?!

Because Nezuko may not canonically be a practitioner of the techniques. But she is descended from a long line of them. And Tanjirou is a practitioner, and he conquered the sun about 30 seconds into his time as a demon!

Not to mention, Muzan specifically mentioned that he was sure Tanjirou would conquer the sun because Tanjirou and Nezuko are of the same blood.

In my opinion, this makes more sense than Blue Spider Lily Soup. It's simple, it makes sense, and I'm doing a lot less mental backflips to figure out how it works. Nezuko and Tanjirou have direct biological relation to a long line of(albeit unknowing) Sun Breathers. That's bound to influence the genetics at some point. Easy as that.

That's the one problem I have with this fandom. Some of the head canons are great, and I love them. It's when fans start acting like their head canon is canon to the point they ignore the actual canon that I get frustrated. It makes it confusing as to what is canon and what is not.

Of course, if there is an official source for this, key word official, I am all ears and eyes.

And this isn't to say headcanons are bad, per se. Just that pushing your headcanon as official canon, and accepting nothing else, is not good. Please keep that in mind. I have a few headcanons of my own, and mine to do with as I please, but I simply share them, and will note if they're headcanons. Or at least try to.

Remember how I mentioned someone stole my art for a tattoo??

Well one of my close friends left a comment on the tattoo artist’s Instagram page, letting her know that the original art was mine and I deserve credit. She said it very nicely and was not rude at all. Well the tattoo artist deleted the comment AND BLOCKED ME!!

I’m sorry but my blood is boiling. How can you so shamelessly steal someone else’s art and then try to sweep it under the rug when you get called out? I never even said anything to her and she blocked me.

So for everyone that asked me if they could let her know the art was made by someone else, go ahead. But please don’t be harassing. At the very least I’d like for the posts she made with my art to be taken down.

Just so you know, it was the top half of my body pillow that she copied. Literally just flipped it and drew it exactly the same. And then she went on to win awards for the design and I obviously got no credit. Makes me wonder if she copies other peoples art for her other tattoos. Because if so, that’s real messed up.

I put so much effort into making that art not just for myself but for all of you. And seeing it being taken like this makes me want to just stop posting my art for good. Like all of the hard work and tears I put into that piece can just be claimed by someone else.

I’m so mad, I can’t sleep now. So anyway… thanks for listening to my rant.
