Wow guys, turns out stopping the end of the world is traumatic as hell! We're gonna work this out when we get home, right?

Working through THONYS personalities for the turtles (these are a work in progress. Things may change.)

Leonardo: the leader, the eldest, the caretaker. she's intimidating to most but has a soft spot for her baby siblings. is more hardheaded with Raph, but she does care for him too, and just wants the best for him as much as she wants everyone else. always strives to do what's best for her family and, eventually, the people of New York. she's pretty standoffish towards strangers (ex: April and Baxter) but learns to trust more as the story goes on. because of her father's illness and absence, she's become more of a mother figure.

Raphael: the sarcastic one, feels the biggest emotions out of all of them, doesn't know how to regulate them. gets into fights with Leo a lot, mostly about how to take care of their siblings, but usually backs down because Leo's intimidating and strong-willed. He's overprotective of his siblings and is pretty hostile to anybody that isn't family, but he likes joking around when you get to know him. He's also a hopeless romantic and keeps a small diary of poetry he's written for his 'non-existent' future girlfriend.

(I'd say their dynamic is similar to Katara and Sokka's, if Katara was the older one, and Sokka the younger.)

Donatello: the genius of the group, the inventor, the heart and compassion. a pacifist who just wants to do good. the first to trust April, Timothy, and Baxter, and ultimately being the one who gets his siblings to learn to trust more. how do I describe him more without just basically repeating ‘oh yeah he's really nice and sweet and everybody loves him’?? He's an overthinker, anxious as hell, and doesn't react well when things don't go as planned OR have a plan. My favorite THONYS turtle :) Sure hope nothing devastating happens to him.

Michelangelo: the hyperactive kid, the learner, the jester. they're wreckless with their nunchucks and never go anywhere with a plan, which is exactly why they're not allowed to go anywhere without supervision from Leo, Raph, and sometimes Donnie. they look up to their older siblings, but listens to Donnie more than they listen to the others; because Donnie's the smart one! Their favorite sibling who's more similar to them in age than the others – seriously, they're 1 year apart from Donnie and 6 years from Leo. They're just a fun little guy who thinks before they act and seriously need to unlearn chaotic destruction.

Okay, originally I wanted to leave the mug thing to the reader's interpretation. But eehhhh I want to talk about it.

Maybe you've noticed that Donnie tends to break things when he's stressed or feeling strong emotions. The first second something freaks him out and the next thing you know, the object in his hands cracks.

So the mug is more than just haha funny. The mug is needed because he's afraid of slipping up for a second and hurting Leo. He needs something to physically remind him that he needs to control himself.

I based this off this scene from Gurren Lagann since Rise of the TMNT is heavily inspired by it

There's a lot of Gurren Lagann references in the show, but Leo and Donnie specifically reference Kamina and Simon a lot

A silly video I made about my version of TMNT / the TMNT brothers and their father Splinter ! ✨

Some brief context bits:

• I rearranged some of the ages for the brothers, which are as follows:

Donatello ( 16-17 yrs | Oldest), Raphael ( 15-16 yrs | Second Eldest / Third Youngest), Michelangelo ( 15 yrs | Third Eldest, Second Youngest), Leonardo ( 13-14 yrs | Youngest)

• Their team roles are pretty much the same though, so despite Leo being the youngest out of all of them, he's still the Leader ! I also workshop-ed Mikey's role, where instead of being the, "Wild Card", he's more of their reconnaissance guy (Also his intelligence or competence isn't questioned every 5 seconds- 💀) !

• Splinter is in his late 20s (Around 28 years old-) ! He adopted the Turtles when he was around 17-18 years old himself / rescued them from the TCRI facility they were being held captive in during that time-

• Splinter has the most banter with Donnie considering he's the eldest and understands his humor the most, as demonstrated in this video (But sometimes Splinter unintentionally dances on the line of being Donnie's Dad and being Donnie's Best Friend and sort of neglects the parental role he's supposed to have in his life, which is not the healthiest thing- 😭) !

Headcanon #17

Leo can mimic voices.

Ever since he was a baby he has been freakishly good at mimicking his brothers and father.

When they were babies, he would copy their voices when they were crying to make them giggle. And when they were having nightmares he would copy Splinters voice humming to them.

He regularly uses it on Donnie when he wont go to sleep, making it sound like Raph is scolding him.

When he and Mikey were pranking April, Raph, and Donnie one Halloween, they waited until night, when they were having a Halloween sleepover.

For phase one (1) of the prank, Mikey made terrifying monster puppets and they moved them around the lair and freak everyone out.

For phase two (2) of the prank, Leo made the most horrifying monster noises EVER, make April, Raph, and Donnie panic and split-up to go looking for Leo and Mikey.

Finally, for phase three (3) of the prank, Leo and Mikey put on handcrafted monster costumes and chased April, Raph, and Donnie around, Leo somehow managed to make double the monster noises, and throw his voice so that it sounded like there were more monsters.

Donnie almost lit Mikey on fire at one point, Leo got a black-eye from Raph, and he still has a scar from were April bit him.

Mikey and Leo ended up being yelled at by all three of them, but it came in useful later when they got capture by some random yokai and they tricked them into thinking there was a monster. Which let them escape.

HSHFJSF Shelldon is Donnie’s emotional support pet rock!!! Bc he hates bugs and most animals lmao. I did a bunch of silly doodles of them in this post, if that’s what you’re looking for? :D

I don’t have much to share about Shelldon beyond. like. stupid shit I made up bc it made me laugh. Including but not limited to:

Leo, Raph, and Mikey all have beef with Shelldon for various reasons and in various ways

Donnie believes Shelldon is sentient. This infuriates Leo to a degree that scares the rest of the family

Raph also believes Shelldon is sentient but bc Shelldon has never spoken to him, he just assumes that Shelldon hates him personally

Kendra ALSO believes Shelldon is sentient and is constantly trying to steal him from Donnie and/or lure Shelldon to her side with promises of better benefits and a higher pay rate for his job as “emotional support pet rock”

Shelldon. May or may not actually be sentient.

Shelldon has been the victim of three attempted murders (thanks Leo), 17 attempted kidnappings (thanks Kendra), and has been implicated in a single instance of breaking-and-entering as the rock used to smash through the window. Donnie sat at Shelldon's bedside for three days while he recovered. I would like to reiterate that he may or may not actually be sentient.

Shelldon has only survived all this abuse bc he's literally indestructible and nobody can figure out why

The lair was unusually loud that afternoon, and that was saying something considering it was home to four ninja turtles and a lot of chaotic energy. Today, though, the source of the noise wasn’t Mikey’s video games or Raph’s grumbling. It was you—a twelve-year-old ball of chaos and the younger sibling they hadn’t expected to have into their family.

“Y/N, you’re gonna break something!” Leo’s voice echoed as you sprinted across the lair, narrowly avoiding one of Donnie’s workbenches.

“I’m not gonna break anything!” you yelled back, giggling as you climbed onto the back of the couch and perched like a bird. “See? Perfectly balanced.”

The couch tipped slightly, and Donnie looked up with a raised brow. “For now,” he muttered under his breath.

Raph walked in from the kitchen, a slice of pizza in hand, and paused when he saw you. “What the hell are you doin’ up there, short stack?”

“I’m testing my ninja agility!” you said, pretending to strike a dramatic pose.

“More like testing how fast you can fall on your face,” Raph muttered, but his smirk betrayed his amusement.

Ever since Master Splinter adopted you, your life had turned into something straight out of a comic book. Sure, you weren’t a mutant ninja, but you made up for it with sheer determination and enough energy to power the entire city.

Leo tried to keep you in line, but it was a losing battle. You had a knack for finding mischief wherever you went. Like the time you’d accidentally set off one of Donnie’s alarms while trying to “help” in his lab. Or the time you’d convinced Mikey to turn the training room into an obstacle course for one of your games.

Still, you weren’t all chaos and no heart.

“Y/N, you’re so small compared to us,” Mikey teased one day, ruffling your hair as you sat cross-legged on the floor with him.

You puffed out your chest dramatically. “I may be small, but I’m mighty!”

Mikey laughed, falling back against the couch. “Sure, dude... I'll wait for the day you'll be taller than me!”

Later that night, after a rough mission, the boys came back battered and bruised. You stayed up, waiting for them despite Leo’s insistence that you should be asleep. When they trudged in, you rushed to greet them.

“What happened? Are you guys okay?”

“We’re fine, Y/N,” Leo assured you, though he winced as he moved to take off his gear.

You didn’t buy it. Grabbing the first aid kit, you stationed yourself next to Raph, who had a gash on his arm. “Hold still,” you said, your usual energy giving way to focus as you patched him up.

Raph grumbled but let you work. “You’re gettin’ pretty good at this,” he admitted, watching as you secured the bandage.

“Yeah, well, someone’s gotta keep you guys alive,” you teased, but your tone was soft.

One evening, you sat on the couch, squeezed between Raph and Mikey as a movie played on the TV. You’d stolen half of Raph’s pizza, and Mikey was complaining about it when Donnie walked in.

“Hey, Y/N,” Donnie said, holding up something shiny. “You left this in my lab.”

You looked up and grinned. “Oh, thanks, Donnie! I was wondering where that went.”

As he handed you the small gadget, Leo walked in, shaking his head. “Y/N, what did I say about staying out of Donnie’s lab?”

“Uh... not to do it?”

“And yet?”

“And yet I’m adorable, so you can’t stay mad at me,” you replied with a cheeky grin.

Raph burst out laughing, and even Leo had to fight a smile.

“You’re impossible,” Leo said, ruffling your hair as he passed by.

“Yeah, but you love me,” you shot back, leaning into the couch with a satisfied smile.

And he couldn’t argue with that. You were their chaotic, small, and slightly unhinged younger sibling, and they wouldn’t trade you for anything in the world.

I NEED to have it addressed in fic form that the Rise turtles are fundamentally different than all their other counterparts, because their counterparts? They were accidents. Just a couple of turtles splashed with mutagen and oh look now they’re people but Green. (Huge oversimplification I’m aware but hear me out okay-)

But the Rise boys were created. They were specifically designed to be weapons of mass destruction. They were built with the intent to cause harm which means they were bioengineered to be stronger, smarter(?), faster, to heal quicker, to have the capacity to take hard hits while dishing out even harder ones, they were literally forged with a purpose to kill.

Add on their mystic powers? Then their unlocked Ninpo? You can’t honestly tell me that these four aren’t the strongest and potentially deadliest version of themselves out there.

Yes they still had to learn things, as did the other iterations, they weren’t immediately good (that much is obvious, like c’mon it’s IN the name) but I don’t think the other iterations possess the same instincts as these guys do. They’re just so. Unhinged. They’ve all had their moments in the show I think where it’s obvious they’re not really,,, stable. I love them.

In a plain fists only, maybe weapons, no powers fight, I do think some of the other iterations would win, but purely because they have way more experience than these guys do. (If I did any crossovers I’d say 2003 and 2012 are definitely older than these guys, especially if we’re basing this at the end of their shows) But put them against each other when they’re still at the same level? Rise is whooping butt, I know where I’m placing my bets. It’s called RISE of the TMNT for a reasonnnnnn they’re not there yet but they WILL BE, and as of the end of s2 and the movie I say they’re finally THERE.

I have no idea how this turned into a headcanon rant this was just supposed to be me asking for fic recs hsgdjdjdk it’s almost 3 am tho so whatever sorry if none or only some of this is incoherent o7 o/

Eschatology by aenor_llelo, Alderous, ConcoctionsFromHell, izziel_galaxy, Jaybird314, Otakuforlife19, and Rocket999 [17/17 chapters, 344k words] “HEAVY on the boys being biologically engineered to destroy the world, it also delves into so much character building and worldbuilding that we never got in canon, and it gives even super minor characters the chance to shine” Sounds intriguing, AND it’s a BNHA crossover which I am a big fan of :D

The Hunter’s Bible also by TurtleSoupSwimmer [2/2 chapters, 15k words] Rated Mature, contains themes of SA and c@nnibalism so PLEASE keep that in mind!! Not a fic for the faint of heart this is a Dead Dove: Do Not Eat! The SA is only attempted, and never shown, only implied, and it’s only in ch 1, but the other stuff is fairly descriptive and takes place in ch 2. All that being said, flipping UNHINGED, just about lost my mind in ch 2, it was entertaining in a surreal kinda way if you get what I mean. Funky little feral creatures

Hi! If you don't mind me asking; I saw the post on what Venus would have looked like if she had been raised by Splinter, but what would have happened had Splinter been able to escape with Donnie from Draxum's lab? And what would've happened when they were ambushed by the foot, would he have been able to stay with Raph and Splinter, escape with Mikey and end up at the nexus hotel with big mama, or would he have been taken with Leo and both be raised in the foot clan? I'm sorry if I'm thinking too much into this, or I'm rambling. Anyhow, have a great day (or night)!

Donnie with Raph and Splinter would be closest to canon, but he’s got so much evil little brother energy, it’s insane ��

Donnie with Big Mama…hmmm so there’s already, let’s call it “prim and proper” Donnie in TLP and Gemini, so let’s go in another direction. Maybe Big Mama only takes a liking to Mikey, so she splits them up as soon as she realizes she can get Donnie to create tech for her. Donnie lives his life in her research and development program and eventually outclasses all the older scientists to become the head engineer/doctor (that one’s under much protest and he’s often forced to experiment on the corpses of previous champions). Mikey gets rescued but has no idea what happened to Donnie. Donnie is 17 when the brothers finally find him, and he’s pretty jaded.

Donnie in the Foot becomes Kitsune’s apprentice and his ninpo is second only to Mikey. Him and Leo aren’t super close thanks to Saki keeping them distant by design.
