So many Tears throughout The year
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
A/N as promised here's chapter 4 of So many tears throughout the year ^^
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Shinya was a coward, he was not afraid to admit that; nor was he afraid to call himself that. Instead of confronting Guren he ran, like a dog between his legs. It bugged him that he didn’t have the courage to yell at the prime alpha or to put him in his place.
Instead of speaking his mind and tearing Guren a new one he ran. All because he did not want to be near him. As he lay in bed he couldn’t help but be thankful towards Erwin and Fried for forcing Guren and his friend to leave the club.
Erwin assured him that he will not be coming to the club ever again. Shinya asked if it was okay to not go to work for the next week, just to be on the safe side.
Erwin agreed and told him he could take all the time he wanted he would still be paid and no money would be deducted from his check.
Shinya was happy about that and left home. Crowley and Erwin of course escorted him home; making sure that Guren wasn’t anywhere near the club to follow him back to his home.
Once he made it there safe he laid on his bed and thought about what happened.
Shinya didn’t know what to do, with the knowledge of Guren here he needed to be careful, he had to make sure that Guren and his kids never cross the same path.
Taking a deep breath, he decided to let himself sleep and try as hard as he could to not think about the Prime Alpha.
To bad his mind had other ideas, memories of both him and Guren filled his head. Memories of their time together, the promises they made to one another and of course the first time they had sex together.
Shinya tossed and turned on his couch, sleep will not come easy to him.
The next morning found Shinya making a simple breakfast, that is if chocolate chip pancakes, French toast, with ham and cheese omelets, sausage links, crispy bacon, fruit salad, cheese biscuits, apple sauce with a side of hash browns consider a simple breakfast.
Last night was a disaster, no matter how hard he tried he just could not sleep. Images of Guren filled his mind and once his head started to reminisce on Guren’s naked body Shinya gave up on sleep, once 6 o’clock hit Shinya decided to get up and make breakfast.
Aside from dancing, cooking was one of the things that was able to relax him and whenever he was stressed he would cook and he may or may not go overboard but hey no knew that when he was stressed he over cooked.
“Rough day at work?”
a sweet voice said, startled he dropped his spatula, turning around he couldn’t help but cooed as he saw his baby girl dressed in a white turtle neck shirt with the sleeves stopping right below her elbows, high waist black trousers, with some sandals on her feet. Her hair was done in a simple bum showing off her beautiful blue eyes.
She looked so beautiful that Shinya couldn’t help but walk over to her and wrap his arms around her and give scent mark her.
Zoe giggled as she returned the hug and did the same.
“You look beautiful darling,”
Zoe smiled as father and daughter pulled back.
“Thank you papa, but you didn’t answer my question,” her soft smiled turned into a look of worry as she looked at the table.
“Did something bad happened?”
Okay so maybe someone did know that he over cooked he was stressed.
“Whoa, did something happen at work?”
Make that two someones as Eren came down and saw the huge buffet before him.
“Umm…well…”
“Who do we need to kill?” Yuu said as he grabbed a sausage link and began to eat it.
Okay so all three of his children knew when he was stressed, he over cooked, so much for keeping it a secret.
Taking a deep breath Shinya spread his arms open and all his kids ran into them. He hugged them as tight as he could.
If Guren found out about them…he would try and take them, if Tenri found out…he didn’t want to think about it, the kids were still 15, which meant that legally Guren could come and take them away from him. Hell, even Tenri could do it since technically he was Shinya’s legal guardian.
No, he would not let that happen, his children would never know their father (or sperm donor as his kids refer him as) was in town, besides for all Shinya knew he was only here for the wedding and then he would leave never to return again.
After all, why he would concern himself with a slutty omega when he had a pure one waiting for him.
“Papa, food is burning,” the scent of burning bread filled his nose as he turned to see the bagels burning.
Grabbing his spatula, he pulled all eight pieces off the pan and placed them on the plate and opened the window that was right above the sink.
All three kids looked at him before laughing at their papa.
Shinya turned and saw his kids laughing freely and over all being happy. He could not help but smile as he took in the sight.
He smiled and just enjoyed the joyful sound that filled his kitchen.
After their laughter died down Shinya told them that there was nothing wrong and he was just excited for his little girl and wanted to make sure she had a healthy breakfast.
The brothers looked at their little sister and smiled, they too were proud of her but their alphas wanted to make sure that the youngest member of their pack was safe so they each gave her both a mini taser and pepper spray in case she ever need to use it.
Shinya tired hard not to look upset, Guren was the same way, he would always give the omega something so that he could defend himself in case any alphas or betas with ill intentions would try and harm him.
He always ignored the nagging voice in his head that would always remind him how Yuu and Eren were exactly like Guren and not just in looks either.
Taking a deep breath, he served his kids some vanilla flavor coffee and handed it to each of them. The kids thanked him as they drank it and began to eat their food.
After cleaning the kitchen Shinya gave Zoe two containers, one for Levi to make sure he ate something and another for Zoe for her lunch. Zoe gave her father and Yuu a kiss on the cheek since it was time for her to go, Eren grabbed her bag as the two headed towards the door.
Eren had asked Levi if he could give Zoe a ride to her internship since his aunt worked there not to mention he had to go into work.
Mr. Hover wanted all his models there as he had to talk them about something important.
Levi of course said yes, and since he was always punctual, they knew the alpha would be waiting for them after breakfast, sure enough there was the alpha parked on the side of their house.
Both siblings walked over to him greeting him Zoe gave him the container of food while Eren gave him a kiss good morning.
The drive to her internship was filled with some Kpop song that Zoe begged Levi to play, the alpha would have said no but Eren also begged him.
And most of the times whatever Eren asked he got, especially since he never asked for much.
They pulled up at the building and stopped at the side of the road.
Eren turned and looked at Zoe with a serious expression.
“It anyone…and I mean anyone touches you, harasses you, belittles you, or makes you shed one single tear, tell me and I’ll kick their asses.
“Eren,” the omega whined.
“Don’t ‘Eren’ me little omega, if anyone makes you uncomfortable tell me or Yuu before you tell anyone else,”
Zoe nodded her head, ever since the incident with their papa at his work happened Yuu and Eren have become extremely overprotective with Zoe.
It got so bad that they would not let her be alone with her boyfriend even though Koji has been nothing but respectful towards Zoe and never pressured her to do anything that made her feel pressure or uncomfortable.
“Good, be safe okay,” he then pulled out his phone and handed it to her.
Zoe took it and placed in her pocket.
“If you can’t get to me call Yuu,”
“And if you can’t get to either one of them call me got it?”
Levi knew why his mate was overprotective of Zoe, he understood since over time he came to see her as a little sister and despite his aunt working here he didn’t trust any of the workers especially since he over heard his aunt talking about how some creepy alpha was harassing an innocent omega.
He did not want anything happen to Zoe and will kill anyone if they bothered her.
“Yes alphas,” she said in a timid voice. It wasn’t that she was scared she just knew when to fight back and when to back down, and she knew that this was one battle she could not win especially when both alphas were using their alpha voice.
“Good, now have a good day and please call me when you’re at lunch,”
“Okay,” she lean forward and peck Eren’s cheek before smiling at Levi knowing how if he wanted human contact with anyone other than Eren he’d be the one to initiate it, Levi smiled before leaning forward and pecking her forehead.
“Go, before you are late,”
She smiled as she got out and waved good-bye before heading inside.
Once she entered the building Zoe took in the sight, the building was huge, the floors were so shiny Zoe would beat that she could eat off it.
Smiling she headed towards the elevator since Hanji told her once she entered the building to head straight for the 13th floor. Getting in she was about to hit the 13th button when a man entered the elevator with her.
She turned and made eye contact with him, offering him a small smile Zoe asked,
“Which floor sir?”
“13th,” he said taking in the young girl’s features. Zoe smiled as she hit the button. Trying hard not to look anxious around this man.
“If I may ask, who are you?” the man’s deep voice asked.
She turned to look at him before replying,
“I’m Zoe Smith sir, and you?”
“Guren,” he said looking at the girl, she looked…familiar…something about her made the prime alpha want to grab her and scent mark her which was weird and admittedly a little creepy. Ignoring those thoughts, he asked,
“You’re the new intern right?”
“Yes sir, today is my first day,” she said with another smile. Seriously what was it about this girl that was giving him warm fuzzy feelings, the same feelings that he had whenever he was around Shinoa.
“Hmm…well I hope you know that you will be working with me Ms. Smith,”
“Oh, umm…I thought I was going to work with Hanji in the science department,”
“No, you were hire to work as my assistant,”
Wait…what?
“Umm…I thought-“
“You start at the bottom and work your way to the top, if you can show me and everyone else that you are capable of good things then you’ll be promoted, is that clear?”
“Yes sir,”
He turned and gave the girl a soft smile.
“Don’t worry, I’ve seen your portfolio, you have amazing ideas and you and Hanji will be working side by side in no time,”
The praise made the omega smiled and once again Guren was tempted to hug the girl.
“That’s good sir,”
They arrived at their destination and both got out Zoe and Guren stepped out and headed towards his office.
“Alright Ms. Smith, did Hanji gave you a tour of the building?”
“Yes sir,”
“Good, you’ll be sending files to and from other offices, you will also be attending some meetings with me, taking notes for me as well as answering calls,”
“Okay,”
“Any calls from my wife are to be sent on hold, unless it involves our daughter I don’t wish to speak to her while I am working,”
“Okay?”
“And all emails are to be send to me or my secretary,
“Yes sir,”
“Good now tell me about yourself,”
“Umm…well I have two brothers and father I like science and wish to run my own business someday,”
“I see, is that all Ms. Smith?”
“Yes sir,”
“Alright then, what’s your status,”
“Omega sir,”
“Very well, according to our records you’re the youngest intern we ever hired,”
“Is that good or bad?”
Guren chuckled.
“It’s good, in fact I am impressed with your credentials, especially since you had the highest grade out of all our interns.”
Zoe smiled at the praise and bow in respect.
“Thank you, sir.”
“Alright we have a big meeting and we should start heading out,”
“Of course sir,”
Guren showed her were to put her stuff at, she placed her bad down before grabbing a notebook and pen before showing Guren she was ready.
Smiling at the young girl he gesture for her to follow him.
“Both Zoe and Guren headed towards the conference room, they were the first to arrive and began to get themselves situated.
Zoe was excited and ready for the day, she knew today was going to be good, she could feel it in her heart.
How wrong she was…

Chapter Two: Shout at The Devil
“What’s this? Don’t tell me someone actually wants to date you, Amane?”
You both broke your embrace to see the bored face of a tall, punky pink haired guy with glasses, holding the hand of a young girl with similar features. You wondered where you’d seen this guy before. They stood before your seated position upon the steps to the arcade on what appeared to be an intimate moment romantically, you rolled your eyes at his assumption. The little girl was smiling and dressed in a sweet, white ruffled dress with a matching bow holding lose, rose locks. He however was not smiling. He had studs in his ears as well as studs on a leather wrist band, clad in a casual black bomber jacket and khaki coloured jeans. Yuu stiffened with a glare,
“What are you doing here, Kimizuki?”
Shiho rolled his eyes,
“And they say I’m blind. I’m taking Mirai to the Arcade, dumbass. What’s it look like?”
Your lips tightened not only at his attitude but at the way he spoke in front of the little girl. Luckily, she wasn’t paying attention though, she was dragging her foot across the concrete in an attempt to entertain herself.
“It looks like you’ve been grounded, why else would you bring your sister here.”
Yuu smirked darkly and you frowned. Again, it didn’t look like Yuu but that Ichinose. It was then you’d realized where you’d seen the punky guy, he was that skater who almost knocked straight into you on your first day of joining Shinjuku high school. You were seconds from asserting as such, but Kimizuki had rolled his eyes and stated,
“I don’t have time for this.”
Before waltzing up the steps, guiding little Mirai. Yuu twisted around with a bark,
“Don’t start anything then, Jackass.”
Kimizuki half turned briefly as they reached the doors to the arcade,
“You know if I didn’t have Mirai, your ass would be grass right now.”
“Only losers rhyme in their threats, waistoid.”
Yuu scowled and Kimizuki balled his spare hand into a fist in a moment of rage before jabbing it to Yuu,
“We’ll see who the loser is when I kick your ass at school, Amane.”
Before stalking off through the doors of the arcade, not before offering Yuu a death glare. Yuu rolled his eyes as he turned his body back around away from the arcade. Your lips thinned, yep, this is definitely going to be a challenge, you thought to yourself.
***
You both walked along the sidewalk and reached the records store,
“This is where I work.”
Yuu beamed and you smiled in return, you both loved music. So did Mika. Better yet, Yuu actually had a job now. He held the door for you as you stepped into the store with mild awe. Rows of records lined like bookcases with band posters decorating the stone walls. You loved the edgy feel to the quaint store that was deluged in amber and red hues, it held the punk rock vibe of a basement venue. Dio’s metal track ‘Stand up and shout’ was playing in the background.
“This is great!”
You beamed and he scoffed a laugh, pointing at your attire of another soft cardigan and neat skirt and you rolled your eyes, giving him a shove as you both laughed.
“You’re late, brat.”
A husky voice boomed over the faint metal track in the back ground. Yuu’s smile dropped,
“Am not! I was on time!”
He shot back. Your eyes reflexively rolled as you saw who it was that spoke, as he emerged from behind the back of the store. None other than Guren Ichinose. He was donning a black leather jacket with studs and his raven locks were slicked back, save for a few runaways.
“You were two minutes late.”
Yuu frowned in thought and you found yourself rolling your eyes again as he furthered,
“Now I’m two minutes late for my cigarette break.”
“You can’t smoke in here?”
You asked without thinking, curiosity taking over and he allowed a sly smirk at your doe eyes,
“’Boss doesn’t like it.”
Huh. Weird, but fair enough. In that moment you recognized the jacket Guren was wearing. It’s the one Yuu had worn the other day at school. Guren raised his brows casually,
“Got a problem, Peach?”
Your furrowed brows knit together further as he stuck a cigarette between his lips. Clearly you’d looked displeased enough for him to catch onto your thought process. Apparently, you were unable to form a cohesive sentence as you staggered,
“That jacket –“
Pointing between the two boys, before scowling,
“Wait – Peach? -”
“Where d’ya think the idiot got the jacket from?”
Guren interrupted with a scoffed laugh, managing to sound cohesive with a cigarette between his lips. Your jaw dropped in that moment as he’d made his way outside, starting to light his cigarette as he swept passed. Your wide eyes trailed his wake before you huffed with the closing of the store’s front door. Yuu allowed a smile,
“He’s not so bad, once you get to know him.”
“He seems like a pain in the ass.”
You countered as you met Yuu’s gaze, he chuckled,
“Remind you of anyone?”
You quirked a brow,
“I hope you mean yourself.”
You remarked, making you both chuckle. But when you thought about it, you wondered how well Yuu could possibly know Ichinose. Not to mention how naive Yuu’s always been. You somehow just knew that there was this mysterious, dark aura around Ichinose, telling you that he had much to hide. And warning you to run away, even though it’s trying to lure you in.
***
Whilst you were there you were somehow roped into buying Yuu’s new favorite album.
“It’s the best rock music of ’83, I swear it.”
He lilted, fluttering his long lashes as he swayed you into buying ‘Shout at the Devil’ by Mötley Crüe. You liked rock but did you like it as much as Yuu? Unlikely. You laughed,
“What if I don’t like it?”
“You will!”
“But what if I don’t?”
You both laughed harder. You realized the song in the background of the store was now ‘Whip it’ by DEVO, a new wave synth-pop song from a couple of years or so before and you hopped up and down a moment,
“I love this song! This is more me, Yuu.”
You claimed playfully and he shook his head before insisting with a raised brow and a wave of the Mötley Crüe record,
“Ok, I’ll let you listen to my tape of it before, but I’m reserving this record for you.”
You laughed a cackle,
“You’re so stupid, Yuu.”
As you started to cave, he wore a victorious grin,
“You won’t regret it, I promise.”
“I better not.”
He laughed again before you noticed the time, gathering yourself to leave,
“It’s getting late, I better head. I’ll listen to it another time - see you at school?”
“Sure, cool. See ya.”
He waved with his smile that you were anxious you wouldn’t see. You were curious as to why the store was kept open so late, considering stores usually close by around 7pm latest. You saw Guren leaning against the building as you exited and offered a cursory glance as you walked by, only to be stopped by his words,
“You’re walking home?”
He asked, incredulous as he flicked a cigarette stub away. He thought the bike attached to the lamp post in front of the store was yours. You turned on your heel to face him with a mild, sarcastic scoff,
“Uh… yea?”
He allowed a stupid smile as he raised his brows, peeling himself from the brick wall of the store.
“Alone, at this time? You can’t live nearby.”
He stated confidently, hands in his pockets, and you retorted,
“How do you know where I live, did you stalk me or something?”
You wondered if you went too far, but he just laughed at your attitude. As he flicked his chin to you,
“One look at your clothes and I know you don’t.”
Your cheeks tinged rose at your cardigan and skirt combo and you held your arms a moment. Of course he was right, you didn’t live in Nagoya, you were just outside. He rolled his eyes but sighed, rubbing the back of his neck a moment before offering,
“Look, do you want a ride?”
Your eyes shot up to meet his and you were even more amazed at how his charming, violet eyes were sincere.
“I can get the little welp to watch the shop, I doubt he’d want you walking all that way.”
Your eyes shifted as the dusting of blush covered your cheeks again, causing Guren to tilt his head back with a small laugh,
“You didn’t tell him you were walking, did you?”
“No.”
You drew out petulantly. His smirk was starting to really irritate you now.
“D’you want the ride or not?”
He asked, his patience supposedly thinning and you huffed as you saw the darkening sky beside you, the street dimming with it with the fewer cars. You bit your lip, prompting him,
“Oh come on. No funny business, I swear.”
He spoke with a natural authoritative tone before he laughed, his hands up in a mock surrender. You fought the urge to smirk at his stupidity, giving him a skeptical once over before claiming,
“Fine. I’ll take the ride.”
***
“I thought you were offering me a ride?!”
You snapped, clenching your fists as you faced his stupid fucking smirk.
“I am. Here.”
He said innocently as he gestured to the push bike to his left. You fought the urge to square up to him as you two stood out back. He’d come back with a push bike?
“What are you, twelve?”
You spat only for him to break out into a boyish grin. You rolled your eyes,
“I thought you were driving?!”
You asked, astounded at his nonchalance. He shrugged,
“I never said I was driving.”
“What?!”
“I don’t drive.”
“WHAT?!”
He’d turned on his heel to stalk off,
“'Later!”
He called over his shoulder as he wandered off in the opposite direction to the store.
“So, you got Yuu to watch the shop just so you could slack?!”
You hollered to his back, eyes sending daggers.
“Yup.”
He called without looking back. You growled.
“What about your bike? How are you gonna get home now?”
You asked tersely but he only laughed as he carried on walking, making you even angrier.
“Ichinose? Ichinose! HEY IDIOT!… Dammit.”
You called irritably, only to be ignored until he left, causing you to grumble.
“Jackass.”
You muttered darkly as you mounted the stupid bike to get home.
“’No funny business’ my ass.”
You scoffed as you began to pedal.
***
You rode the bike back to school in order to give it back to the idiot Ichinose but quickly realized you didn’t know how to find him. He was a senior so he wasn’t in your classes, unless I find him somehow at lunch? I could ask Yuu? Ugh, I really don’t like the idea of Yuu being around that guy, he’s so shady. You grumbled to yourself, chaining the bike to the bike stands outside the school in a huff, just hoping you’d bump into him to tell him you have his bike. Although, knowing your luck, you knew you’d see him again.
***
“You’ll be transferring to the senior class for (F/S), and for (R/S) as well, due to your abilities simply excelling expectation, Miss (L/N).”
Mr. F. Bathory beamed in his weirdly over-excited manor, silver hair slicked behind him in a ponytail, hands intertwined in front of his chest, a lazy smirk that sent uncomfortable shivers down your spine. Looks like I could see Guren sooner than I hoped, you thought with a disappointed sigh. Mr. Bathory took you to your new (R/S) class and low and behold, Idiot Ichinose was actually there even in a class. He had an infamous reputation to skip nowadays supposedly. However, when you entered the classroom you’d cringed for an entirely different reason - It was chaos. The teacher wasn’t there for whatever reason, and there were tables on their sides, papers strewn along with random books and pencils littering the floor. Some guy with seaweed coloured hair in a red letterman jacket was being held back as he laughed a guttural chuckle, Ichinose being held back by Goshi and an ash blonde you didn’t know but recognized as their friend.
“Now, now, what’s this ruckus for? Hmm?”
Mr. Bathory asked from the door frame with a voice of honey coated ice-shards. They all dropped their hold on the two, Ichinose broke free with an abrupt jutt of his shoulders, whilst the other seemed in pretty bad shape… you could hardly make out his features they were so swollen and blood congealed. Guren’s ear was bleeding but the other guy had an eye already swelling shut. Despite this, he was smiling malevolently. It was almost creepy. Maybe he’s some kind of freak masochist, you scrunched your nose. In any case, it was abundantly clear that he’d wanted a rise out of Guren. And he got one. The ash blonde stepped forward and dipped his head,
“I apologize for the mess, Mr. Bathory. We will clean it immediately.”
You couldn’t help but raise a brow at how polite he is, being affiliated with Ichinose and Goshi.
“Whilst I appreciate your efforts, Shinya, that’s not what I asked.”
That same voice was back, threatening and he offered a small smile that didn’t touch his blazing eyes. When all were reluctant to answer, Ferid warned,
“My patience is wearing thin.”
“The psycho attacked me.”
The pummelled masochist stated with that same eerie smile.
“What?!”
Guren bellowed, almost lunging for him again if it weren’t for Goshi blocking him. You cringed, why is he still winding Guren up?  Better yet, what could he have possibly said to get Ichinose so angry? Ferid started tutting,
“Uh-uh, stop that. I’ll offer one last chance for you to explain yourselves for making such a scene before your teacher’s arrival – in fact, I’m surprised no one reported their absence, as they should have arrived by now. And you all know the drill.”
A unanimous sigh filled the room before Goshi stepped forward and admitted,
“It got out of hand when these two started trash talking, stuff like family and…”
Goshi winced with a side glance before meeting Ferid’s piercing gaze.
“And Mahiru.”
Ferid’s brows raised and he shifted his gaze for a split second before recomposing,
“I see.”
A heavy silence fell as you observed those in the room, most either solemn or exhausted. Or they were that guy who fought Ichinose. Either way, it was clear that whoever Mahiru was, it was a sore topic for all of them. The thought made a wave of compassion wash over you and you dared not ask why. Ferid measured the silence for an excruciating moment before announcing.
“I want this cleaned up. Now. You –“
He pointed at one of the guys holding back the masochist in the letterman.
“Take Hiiragi to the infirmary.”
He ordered and it was done. They brushed passed, this Hiiragi slumped over the shoulders of his escort, blood narrowly missed spluttering over you as they clambered passed and you fought your gag reflex.
“Ichinose. My office.”
Guren was still out of breath and his lavender eyes had still somehow darkened when meeting Ferid’s gaze. Mr. Bathory offered one last glance at the room before adding,
“I look forward to seeing you all this Saturday, in detention.”
A collective groan emanated from them all, which their sudden winces that followed indicated they instantly regretted the outburst. Mr. Bathory slowly turned to the class with a cocked brow,
“For that, add another Saturday. All of you.”
“What?! –“
“No way! –“
“I have plans! –“
A chorus of complaints ensued before his gaze darkened,
“Want there to be a third Saturday?”
With that threateningly silky voice. You’d realized you’d been biting your lip, having felt a small pang of sympathy for the class, after all they weren’t all involved in the fight. You tried,
“Sir? With all due respect, not everyone was involved. I think that’s why they’re upset.”
He seemed to consider your attempt at diplomacy for a second, only to smile cunningly whilst bending to your height to level with your gaze,
“Well you can ponder on that when you join them this Saturday.”
Your jaw dropped -  WHAT?! I got a Saturday detention for that?! You’ve never had a Saturday detention in your life. He smiled at your racing thoughts before rising to watch the class and caught the glares of many before stating to you,
“Welcome to the senior class, Miss (L/N).”
Before he swept out of the dilapidated class. You found yourself watching Ichinose as he swept up his denim sleeveless jacket before glancing at you and leaving the rest of you to clean up his and Hiiragi’s mess.
“AFTER that classroom is clean, Ichinose.”
You heard Mr. Bathory’s command from in the halls and recoiled as it was shortly followed by a hissed string of cusses from Ichinose upon his agitated return.
“I never thought you’d actually listen.”
Shinya teased Ichinose which flabbergasted you, he was clearly not in the mood for banter. Guren gave him a murderous glance but otherwise ignored him. Goshi laughed,
“It’s only ‘cause it’s Ferid fucking Bathory. That dude is evil with punishments I’m telling you, we got off easy as.”
After a dumb moment of watching Ichinose picking up a desk to place it, you shook yourself out of it to help them.

I’m learning quickly, that I should probably stick to musing Guren and Guren alone D;
I haven’t proofread it yet either, so forgive the inevitable spelling and typo errors. I’ll get to that asap.
Word Count: 4700+
1) The First Kiss
They’re sixteen, young, and reckless. It’s no surprise when they grow tired of the video games. It’s a wonder they haven’t resorted to truth and dare before tonight. Guren’s apartment is almost to capacity with his guests. Each of them are lined in their typical seats around the room, making for a group circle. Almost each individual has already answered at least one turn.
So far has been relatively tame. Sayuri has dared Guren to eat something other than curry. Guren asked Goshi what the worst illusion spell he ever cast was. Goshi dared Mito to try on a bathing suit. She refused, turning bright red in the process. Instead, he asked if it was true that she’s had her first kiss. Her eyes flicked to Guren before she stuttered out a reluctant yes. Immediately after answering, her attention turned to Shigure. Mito asked if Guren had always been a good master. Shigure responded with, “There is no better master than Guren-sama.” Shigure’s eyes slid to Goshi, and she proceeded to ask him if he had any shame. That’s where things look quite a turn —
❛ You’re right, Shigure. Lord Shinya, you haven’t had a turn yet. ❜ Goshi turned in his seat to look at Shinya across the room. Now is as good a time as any to show just how shameless some of his tendencies are. Shinya, with his arms crossed behind his head, peered up to his friend. ❛ I dare you to kiss Guren. ❜ Goshi declared before Shinya could get a word out. At that, Guren’s eyes grew wide with utter confusion. Shinya catches a glimpse of Guren’s fear before directing his attention back to his darer. ❛ Hahaha~ But I haven’t even picked dare yet! ❜ Shinya responds, straightening his posture. ❛ Are you chickening out? ❜ Goshi asked, crossing his arms with a smile along his expression. ❛ Well in that case — Guren~? Would you do me the honors? ❜ Guren, along with all the girls in the room, is entirely baffled. ❛ Eh? …You’re not serious. ❜ The Ichinose replies, rubbing the nape of his neck with a hint of plea behind his eyes. ❛ I’m serious about not giving Goshi an excuse to call me a coward at truth or dare. ❜ Shinya replies, a rather amused smile on his face. ❛ You’re not nervous, are you? ❜ The sniper adds with a lilt to his tone.
It’s then when Shinya pushes himself up from his chair and begins to walk over to his friend. Meanwhile, Guren’s teeth are gritting against each other. The first issue is that they’re in front of everyone, and the second issue is Mahiru. However, it isn’t like him to back down from a challenge, and this is a very CLEAR challenge. Reluctantly, he scoots forward in his chair. The sooner they move on from the topic, the better. That means, Guren must comply with the dare. It’s a kiss for a game, and everyone knows that. Surely, no one will think much of it. Pushing himself up, Guren meets Shinya behind the sofa and between the kitchen counter of his apartment.
Tumblr media
Under his breath, Guren curses to himself. ❛ Oi, Shinya. Why’d you have to accept this stupid dare. ❜ With Shinya so close, it’s no surprise that he hears the words from Guren’s lips. ❛ What are you so worried about? Everyone knows you love my fiance. ❜ At that, Guren merely scowls. They’re only about a meter apart, and the distance closes with each passing second. After a few steps, they stand with their faces close. It isn’t longer before they each become aware of the warmth between them as they draw closer. It’s not the first time they’ve been so intimately close, but they’ve never had the pressure of kissing placed upon them until now. Guren can feel himself tense with anticipation, but Shinya only grows more amused as he sees Guren’s reaction. The silvery-haired teen is slow to inch forward, trying to milk Guren’s uneasy attitude for as long as he can. But his amusement only last for a moment before their lips press together, and their breaths exchange against one another’s skin. Their eyes shut, the kiss is over after a brief moment. With a swift turn, Guren breaks off the kiss. However, Shinya lingers for a short moment before his eyes snap to his best friend. A subtle bit of heat rushes to his face before he quickly shuts it off. ❛ Well that was better than I had expected. ❜ Shinya declares, coolly. After all, this is the first kiss he’s ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Violet eyes sharpen as Guren takes a step back and looks to Shinya. ❛ … ❜ He has no response other than lifting his sleeve to his face and wiping his mouth. ❛ Hahaha, oh come on. It couldn’t have been that bad. ❜ Shinya responds, returning to his chair. All Guren offers is a shake of his head and audible, ❛ So noisy. ❜
2) A Kiss Goodbye [blood tw, death tw]
❛ Shinya! ❜ There’s no answer. ❛ Shinya! ❜ His friend is silent in his arms. ❛ Shinya! ❜ Making his voice louder will solve nothing. ❛ Shinya! ❜ No amount of screaming a name will bring life back to the body in his arms. ❛ SHINYA! ❜ That’s when the tears begin to stream down his cheeks. His friend is dead, and he could not save him. That is the cost of weakness. Guren Ichinose has chosen the path of the weak — to love his friends and call them FAMILY. There is no saving Shinya. The curse will not bring his best friend back. The promise they have made is broken, as broken as Guren’s heart when he looks at the other’s still chest. He’s not breathing. Where lungs should lift with life is a hole. An empty hole from the stab wound.
Guren’s grip against Shinya’s hair grows tighter, and the tears won’t cease. If his heart had been made of glass, he would have heard it shattering. Violet eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and pain. ❛ What about our promise? We were supposed to live and win together. Then why am I alive? ❜ Alive and alone. The words are bitter as they breathe from his chest. To bring Shinya back means to commit the worst sin of all. To bring his family back, Guren must sacrifice the world. ❛ I could not save you. ❜
It’s then when he turns to Mahiru. He cannot save her, and she tells him that. Her words are poisonous as she explains his choice. There are seven coffins and two choices. He may choose to abandon his weakness, or he shall commit the greatest of sins that deserve’s god’s punishment. The goddess’ hand wraps around the hilt of Noya, and she launches the katana into her chest. Knees buckling, the princess falls to the ground. However, her faithful prince is there to catch her and hold her during those final moments. Before long, she vanishes into the weapon… leaving Guren completely and utterly alone and broken. The choice is an obvious one, as much as it pains him to make. The cost is so great, but he will die if he does not comply. Guren is not able to abandon his weakness and give up the ones he loves.
One by one, he places their bodies in their coffins. The final body he holds is his best friend’s — Shinya’s. Guren’s eyes are filled with plea. ❛ Please forgive me for breaking our promise. ❜ He’s supposed to die with them. To die together is a win in Shinya’s eyes as well, but Guren has made his choice. He will bear the greatest sin of all to bring his friends back for another measly ten years of seeing them smile.
Tumblr media
Arms wrapped around Shinya’s body, Guren carries him to the final coffin. The tears begin to stir at the base of his eyes, knowing that he will never be forgiven for his choice. ❛ I know you would not be this weak and make this choice. You’re not a fool. ❜ Again, Guren speaks with no response. Corpse’s have no voice. The voice he once complained of is the thing he misses most in the world at this moment. To have that voice back is all that matters.
Beside the coffin, Guren’s hands begin to tremor. Setting Shinya in the coffin, the raven’s knees buckle and fall to the ground. Looking to his silent friend, he has no more words. There is nothing else he can say, other than hope that he will be forgiven someday. Although, something tells him that he will never see that day. Forcing the thoughts to the back of his mind, Guren’s focus presses to his friend. The hand around Shinya’s torso reaches for the silver bangs against Shinya’s forehead, and Guren moves them out of the way. Bending forward, Guren’s lips press to the spot his thumb has just brushed against. Such a gesture is the only way he can convey his hope for the future — the hope for them to be reunited once again.
There, Guren sits alone and waiting for the resurrection and destruction to being. And that’s when the voice of a man, no… a strange vampire dances against his ears.
3) Kiss of Life [drowning tw]
They haven’t been to a pool like this since last summer. A year has already passed. That is one fewer year that he has with his friends before they vanish into dust. The thought terrifies him whenever he wakes up. His dreams don’t make it any easier with Mahiru taunting him all hours of the night. You won’t be able to protect them, like the time you couldn’t protect me~ Do you remember, Guren? He remembers so clearly that it pains him in his stomach and leaves a sting in his heart. Most days, Guren’s able to push her aside and move past those fears. However, the ideas linger in his mind as if they’re a dark storm.
Some days, he wakes up with his hand extended toward her. Those moments are rather horrifying to him. To lose his humanity means losing his friends and losing sight of his mission. Those are things are the precious reason for which Guren lives, and he can never lose them. That’s what makes days like this summer day so important. The group must strengthen their bonds and close their hearts off from the temptation of demons. It’s training more or less. At least, that’s what Goshi calls his excuse to see the girls in swim suits. To Mito, times like this are FUN. As Shinya calls it, it’s youth~. For Guren, it’s a reminder of why he lives. These are the people who give him strength, and they’re the ones for whom he spends his days fighting. Not to mention that a day spent swimming is its own refreshing reward. This opportunity is an actual reward for restoring the power in Shibuya, Guren and his squad have been awarded access to one of the last hidden gems of this devastated world.
Staring out at the vibrant blue, Guren recalls the last they visited the pool as a group. A time before the Catastrophe — a time before his great SIN. He misses those days, when their time was spent care-free. Now, each second is a payment; every second is the price of his family's’ lives. ♫ Tick tock ♪, Guren. There’s her voice again, playing in his mind as a soft whisper. The tone’s always so soft, but God does he HATE it.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, his thoughts are interrupted with an intense blur of water. ❛ You shouldn’t stand still, Guren. A still target is easy prey for a sniper. ❜ It’s Shinya at the edge of the pool in front of Guren standing over the ledge. Off to the side, Goshi stands laughing with the girls. Making a face, Guren’s eyes glaze over. He’s not amused. ❛ Quit splashing me. ❜ Shinya simply flicks another scoop of water at him. ❛ Haha. At this rate, you won’t have a dry towel when you get out. ❜ Shinya is very amused.
Tumblr media
❛ Haaaaa… ❜ The Ichinose boy sighs, shaking his head as he removes the towel from his neck. Placing it with the others, Guren finally slides his way into the pool to join his friends. Almost immediately, both Goshi and Shinya charge him with their hands spouting water. Mito simply lectures them all from afar, while Sayuri and Shigure accompany her. Before long, Goshi suggests that the six of them play a round of chicken, but his suggestion is vetoed rather hastily. As the group starts to squabble, Guren makes his way over to the ledge to take a break from the noise and look at the sky.
It’s unfortunate that their days can’t all be days like this one. This is a REWARD for the efforts, but it’s his fault that the world no longer allows time for fun. Now, his time is preoccupied with the Seraph of the End. Mahiru’s obsession with power has become his own. He needs the power to save everyone. ‘You’re not having fun with the rest of them, Guren.’ There it is again — the angelic whisper of his demon’s voice. ❛ Shut up, Mahiru. ❜ At that moment, the world begins to fade. Walls of white surround him as they have before with Noya. These are the walls of his heart, and there she is. Unchained, his demon calls to him.
❛ Hey, Gu-chan! Do you think we shou— ❜ Shinya calls, looking for his friend in the distance. ❛ Guren! ❜ In Guren’s place is a sinking figure that the water distorts at the surface. Sayuri’s the first to scream at the sight before the group wades through the water to reach him. The body of the sleeping Ichinose slips into the deeper end of the pool. Shinya takes the lead of the group before diving deeper into the water. Arms paddling his way, the teen reaches a hand to pull his friend toward him. Wrapping Guren’s arm around his neck, they surface together. Gasping for air, Shinya looks to his best friend who has yet to open his eyes or move his lungs.
With a splash of water, Shinya brings Guren to the edge of the pools and rests his limp body on the hard surface. Pushing himself out of the water, controlled panic starts to set in as Shinya bites his lip. Sitting down beside Guren, he observes his breathing. He’s perfectly still. The others make their way out of the pool, following Shinya’s lead. Panic-stricken, everyone hovers over Shinya. There’s only one thing to do, and he starts with compressions.
Head tilt. Chin lift. Nose pinched. Lips pressed. Breathe, dammit!
Pulling away slightly, Shinya looks to the other’s lungs. For a brief moment, he holds his own breath as a rock forms in his stomach. ❛ Koff. Koff. Haaaa — ❜ Water exits his lungs. Guren’s eyes widen, as Shinya blocks the sun from his eyes. His next few breaths are coarse sounding, but he’s alive. ❛ Shinya? ❜ Guren inquires, brows furrowing toward the other who hovers over him. At the sound of Guren’s words, the rest of the Squad cheers with relief. Shinya sighs, bowing his head. Rolling over to lay beside Guren, a rather playful smile slips along his lips. ❛ So nice of you to join us, Guren. I didn’t realize I was the prince who has to save you from eternal slumber. ❜ At that, Guren punches him lightly in the arm. ❛ Now that’s no way to  treat your rescuer, Sleeping Beauty~ ❜
4) Valentine’s Kiss
Shoving his hands through his hair, Guren sighs tiredly. It’s been a hectic week, and the paperwork on his desk seems to be growing more than shrinking. So much for his plans for the holiday. It’s tradition that he, Sayuri, and Shigure spend Valentine’s Day as friends together. It makes for a wonderful bonding activity, when they picnic together or play games. However, that’s far from possible at this point.Sitting back at his desk, violet eyes look at the stack before him as he sighs inn defeat.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, a knock at the door interrupts the serenity of his office. Great, now he’s never going to get anything finished.Eyes flicking up from his desk, the Lieutenant Colonel looks to the door and calls.❛ What do you want? ❜ Guren groans, all amusement drained from his voice. The door creaked open, and a very familiar cheeky smile appeared to make a visit to his friend. Closing the door behind him, Shinya made his way over to Guren’s desk. Almost elegantly, he pushed himself up and turned the desk into his throne.
Dark brows forming a line, the Ichinose scowled. ❛ I have important papers there. ❜ Shinya ignores him. Blue eyes glanced around the room, looking at the different decorations that he so often found interesting. ❛ Hmmm, Guren. Is that a new book? I don’t remember seeing something on your table over there. ❜
Pressing his fingers to his brow, Guren asks again.❛ Yes. Now what do you want? ❜
❛ Did you get anything for Valentine’s Day? ❜ Shinya asks, a rather amused smile along his lips.
❛ No. ❜
❛ It’s not like the girls to forget. ❜
❛ I haven’t seen them. I’ve been busy. ❜ Guren gestures to his paperwork.
❛ Hmmm~ Well I am seeing you now. Where’s my~ gift? ❜ Shinya asks, his voice quite playful. Directing his attention to Guren, the sniper sticks his hand out with his palm wide open.
❛ Oi, Shinya… I didn’t get you anything this year. I forgot to get anyone gifts. ❜ It’s the truth, as he’s been so buried in work that it’s almost consumed his soul — among other things. Unfortunately, Valentine’s Day has been the last thing on his mind.
In response, Shinya sighs dramatically as if he’s lost a bet. But that vibrant smile is still bright along his lips. ❛ I guess that means you’ll have to make it up to me. ❜ Quirking a brow, Guren expresses his confusion. ❛ Eh? ❜ Scooting off the desk, Shinya slides his way around its sides to stand beside Guren.
❛ Oh nothing. I figured something like this would happen, so I already know how you can make it up to me. ❜ Shinya declares, bending down beside his friend. Tapping his finger under Guren’s chin, Shinya tilts his friend’s eyes to look at him. The smile along his lips is quite pleased. Guren’s eyes are wide, but he knows. He’s more surprised that he hasn’t caught the suggestion sooner.
Shinya’s finger pressed to Guren’s chin leads Guren toward the him. Shinya’s lips connect to Guren’s for the first time under good circumstances. Both sets of eyes fall shut as the world dies down temporarily. After eight years together, it’s surprising to the both of them. For a long moment, they’re together without the weight of the world pressed upon their shoulders. Guren’s shoulders even begin to relax. Despite himself, Shinya takes note and starts to chuckle in response. ❛ Hm. Hm. ❜ He mumbles against Guren’s lips before pulling himself away, while Guren’s lips linger for a very brief second before he snaps to attention. ❛ Ha ha ha. My my, Guren. I didn’t think this would be a gift I gave to you. ❜ Shinya teases, dropping his hand back to his side.
Violet eyes sharpening, annoyance contorts Guren’s face. ❛ Quit laughing. It wasn’t all that great anyway. Was this your goal the whole time? ❜ His voice is rather defensive. ❛ Maybe. I didn’t think you’d go through with it though. ❜ Shinya answers, straightening his posture and shifting his way toward the door. ❛ But you don’t have to worry about it. I don’t kiss and tell. ❜ The words dripping from his lips, Shinya winks at Guren and walks out the door.
5) New Year’s Kiss [death mention tw]
Humanity has been resurrected. The world has been SAVED. This is a time for celebration, but things between Guren and his squad have been awkward to say the least. It’s been nine painfully long years, and the truth has finally come out. Humanity died to save them. Guren chose them over the rest of the world, which is a selfish choice. It’s a secret he’s been carrying for nine years, and it’s been drowning him in guilt. All of his choices have been for them, or so they’ve been intended to save them. Now they’re here as full bodies, but uncovering the truth has been an adjustment. No more lies after eight years of them…
Everyone was unsure of how to feel at first, but it’s been over a week since the confession. Sayuri and Shigure were the first to forgive Guren, as they appreciate that he has gone to such great lengths to protect them. It wasn’t easy for Mito, but she came around to the idea. Goshi has had mixed feelings, but doesn’t hold it against Guren. Of the group, Shinya has been the most distant about the ordeal. The constant lying, valuing their lives over the good of the world, selling one’s soul to a demon… Is he truly worth it all? Certainly, Guren’s foolish to go to such lengths for friends who weren’t strong enough to live. Guren’s broken their promise, and Shinya’s had no idea all this time. It’s taken him time to process all of it.
The group gathers together to look at the fireworks on television, now that power has been restored. They’re all in Guren’s old apartment, where it all began. Vampires are still a plague throughout the world, but now humans have the advantage — numbers. All should be exciting, but there’s tension in the atmosphere of the room. Eyes dart from person to person, but little is said. They haven’t been a group like this since before the ceremony for the resurrection. IT’s Goshi who breaks the silence. ❛ Sayuri, can I finally see you in a swim suit this year? ❜ He asks, wiggling a brow her way. Her face turns bright red before she furiously shakes her head as declination. ❛ Not unless Guren-sama commands such an action… ❜ Her voice grows smaller as she looks to Guren. Shigure simply shakes her head at the ordeal. Mito is quick to jump at Goshi for his perversions once again, and she raises an annoyed red brow his way. Before the situation escalates and drags him into it, Guren steps away from the group.
Tumblr media
Standing some distance away from the others squabbling in front of his television, Guren takes some time to look outside his old window. It’s impossible to distinguish the stars with the new light pollution, but that’s not such a bad thing. The world around him is alive; he’s no longer the soul survivor. Hopefully, the fireworks will be visible from here. Losing himself in thought, he searches for something. Although, there are no answers beyond the four walls of the apartment. Someone who’s spent eight years looking to reverse the clock now wants it to fast-forward, so things can go back to normal — whatever normal may be. It’s not so simple, and time acts as the tool that will heal the new wounds. So for now, he must deal with it. A subtle sigh breathes from his lips as he catches a glimpse off the glass’s reflection of his friends behind him bickering with one another. Then he sees Shinya approaching him, blocking his view of the others.
❛ Shouldn’t you be counting down the clock with them? ❜ Guren asks, his eyes still glued to where the stars should be. Shinya replies, searching the sky for anything that might be interesting. ❛ I thought we were all supposed to be counting down together. What are you looking at? ❜ To Shinya’s disappoint, there’s nothing but a bleak black distance. ❛ There aren’t any fireworks yet, and wouldn’t a good host be offering us all cokes right now~? ❜ Shinya adds with a very coy tone. ❛ You shouldn’t leave your guests empty-handed, Guren. ❜ At that, Guren sighs and turns to him. It’s been over a week since they have looked each other in the eyes and talked. If he’s entirely honest, there’s been a void in his heart where his friends belong. A void that he loathes. It’s almost as though part of him is missing; the better parts of him for that matter. His goal to protect them remains, but it’s bizarre to feel the weight of their lives no longer shoving his shoulders down.
❛ They look like they already have their hands full. ❜ Guren retorts, his shoulder gesturing to the group behind them. Everyone’s eyes are stuck on the screen, and excitement beams from them. This is the first year the world will be free. ❛ I wasn’t sure how to feel at first. ❜ Shinya declares, ignoring the others for a moment. His lips are even for once, and cerulean eyes steady. ❛ You sacrificed the rest of the world for us. I don’t know if Mahiru’s right that we’re weak for dying or that you’re weak for trying to save us. I broke my promise to you, since I didn’t live and win. But I don’t think it matters. ❜ A shrug pulls at his shoulders, and his expression makes no note of it. These are all pointless questions now. As the words speak from Shinya’s lips, Guren’s eyes waver. For years, this has been an internal struggle that plagues him. Nothing can ease the guilt of his choices. As always, Shinya catches the distress behind his best friend’s eyes. ❛ We’re all here now. I’m not turning into dust. ❜ Gesturing wide with his arms, Shinya continues. ❛ And you saved all of humanity. It’s all over now. ❜ Moving his hands over to Guren’s face, he uses both index fingers to press against Guren’s cheeks and force him to smile. ❛ What matters to me is that you told the truth. Besides, I’m sure everyone’s already forgiven you. ❜
Tumblr media
Quickly, Guren swats his hands away. But that doesn’t hide the subtle hint of tears the gleam along the edges of his eyes. It all feels too good to be true. ❛ Oi, Shinya. That’s not how you make someone smile. ❜ He protests, doing his best to express his irritation. The act is of no use, given how easy it is for Shinya to read the pages of his eyes. ❛ Don’t look so sad. I’m only telling you the truth, but there’s still something you haven’t told me yet~. ❜ Shinya pauses, dropping his hands to his sides. ❛ Wen were you going to tell us that you love us? ❜ Guren’s expression falls flat at the thought. Where the hell does love come into this? ❛ What makes you think I’m supposed to confess? ❜ Guren inquires, his face wrinkling with surprise. Stepping over to Guren’s ear, Shinya can’t help but toy with him. ❛ No one sacrifices the world for people they don’t love, Gu-chan~. ❜ Those are true words, and Guren knows it painfully well. Shoving his fingers through his hair, violet eyes peer over to the others who have started counting down the last few seconds of the year.❛ Quit talking already. ❜ Guren complains, turning his attention back to the sniper.
Taking a step forward, his eyes set to Shinya. Cupping the back of Shinya’s neck, Guren leans in toward the sniper as subtly as possible. As soon as the count of ONE calls, he presses his lips against his long-term partner for a kiss. Their lips pressed together, they both ease into the moment. For once, things feel right. It’s a brief moment, but it’s a moment they’ve both waited for longer than either knew. The first crack of fireworks sounds in the distance and lights the window. Even the men with their eyes closed can catch the vibrant light from outside. Simultaneously, they pull away. Immediately, Guren grows stiff and turns to watch the display from the window. Rubbing the back of his neck, Shinya can’t help but tense up as well. ❛ Hahaha~ Happy New Year to you too, Guren. ❜

“It doesn’t change anything.” (For Shinya)
( Actually too lazy to try and find this meme oops | @ofichinose )
Tumblr media
Laughter–the first response bubbling just under the surface at such a ludicrous statement. This changes everything, even if he doesn’t want it too. He’s so hungry that there’s a sharp pain in his stomach and he’s dizzy with desire. Its only ever been Guren–he knows that, but it’s clear the other doesn’t quite understand just what it means to Shinya to drink his blood. He didn’t ask to be turned, but he accepted his fate if only to remain alive long enough to make his way back to his friend. For so long he’s played his part as the best friend; loyal to the most extremes. All his self preservation means nothing if it’s this mans will he dies–and this is the only way he will accept his death. Gurens shirt collar is popped, exposing his neck.
It’s taking every ounce of the vampires control to not sink his fangs inot that offer. Heavens help him but he wants it so badly that he has to dig his nails into his arms to ground himself. The beast inside him wants what is being offered–but the human ache in his chest keeps his feet glued to the floor. In hindsight this is exactly what he should have expected. There’s scars from other fang bites and he should know his friend well enough to realize he’d do so many things to get where he wanted–it shouldn’t be a surprise, but it still hurts. He can’t lie his way out of this, not when he can tell his eyes are welling with tears. There’s no reason to cry, his feelings have always been one-sided. Shinya knows that Guren will never see him that way, but he always held onto some sliver of foolish hope that one day he might.
The marks make it abundantly clear to him in this chilling moment that he’s likely just another piece in his friends chess game. It’s not that he isn’t ok with that, he’d always known just a little that he was never going to be let in, but it still hurts. Ironic that he’s spent so long chasing after the Ichinose–only to feel further away than ever. He is but the moon to Gurens sun; always chasing after his light, but never quite close enough to touch. “It changes everything.” He finally hisses out, closing his eyes tightly. He can’t look at the other right now, not without breaking into tears. It’s pathetic but he can’t make the ache go away. “Look at me Guren…I’m a monster, something you hate.” He knows it’s true, there is no doubt in his mind that what he’s become (what he had to become) is vile. “I know that you should just kill me and be done with it!”
He doesn’t mention the sense of displacement he feels; that sensation that he shouldn’t still be here. Blue eyes open to focus on Guren and he has to ball his fists as he begins to shake, still desperately fighting the tears. “I already have done everything I can for you–I’ve watched your back just as I promised. But this…” his voice hitches, choking on the sob trying to escape. “No one had my back and now I’m–I’m one of them. I didn’t want to be a beast but I chose this only to return to your side! That doesn’t mean I’ll just take–” He’s crying now, but whether he’s still heartbroken or just angry he really can’t say anymore; he feels both more than anything. “Don’t turn me if it doesn’t mean anything. I’d rather starve than to end up being just like the rest of them.” His eyes are closed again, unable to meet his friends gaze.
His next words feel like knives in his throat; but he has to say them. “I’d be giving up my humanity for you Guren…to stay by your side. Please…please don’t make light of that. I’m only having to choose because you…” he can’t finish, his teeth grinding together as he looks away. Does he really need to say it? I’m only like this because you turned your back on me and left me in a cell to rot.

Be Careful | Shinya Hiiragi x Reader
Tumblr media
RATING: Teen | WORD COUNT: 1,863 | GENRE: Action/Drama/Fluff SUMMARY: You're on your period, and it almost gets you killed during a mission.
You shifted uncomfortably in your position, mentally cursing your luck. Of all days, Mother Nature decided to give you your gift for the month to fall on the same day as a very important mission. Your time of the month wasn't really anything major troubling—except maybe uncomfortably bleeding between your legs, having cramps come and go, getting irritated at the smallest things, and a million other problems—that you decided against skipping out on this mission. Unfortunately, you didn't have the luxury to just "take a day off" because of your period. Not in these desperate times, at least.
"Hey, you okay?" Mito placed a hand on your shoulder after seeing your distressed expression despite all your attempts of hiding it. The young woman looked concerned, and you nodded.
"Yeah," you reassured her. "Just Mother Nature being a complete bitch like always."
Mito understood what you meant right away, flashing you a sympathetic smile. "Ah, I see. Don't push yourself too hard out there, alright?"
"I'll be careful," you promised. Satisfied with your response, the young woman nodded before walking back over to Guren and the rest of her squad. You watched her retreating figure, your eyes scanning over the rest of her squad members (and basically your friends now due to a certain embarrassing incident you'd rather not recall) before eventually landing on a certain blue-eyed male. Shinya Hiiragi wasn't really supposed to be here, yet for some reason he decided to tag along. Feeling your gaze on himself, Shinya locked eyes with you, his permanent smile etched on his face as he waved at you in greeting.
"Shit, not now," you thought, feeling yourself heat up from his smile towards you, and you pushed your legs even closer together. You slapped your cheeks in an attempt to ignore everything that came along with your annoying hormones. In the end, you never returned the Major General's greeting, much to his dismay. You needed to focus right now. In just a few minutes, your squad and Guren's will be trying to eliminate a certain vampire noble. You had no idea why your squad was needed as you were fairly certain that Guren's squad (plus Shinya due to his own whim) would be more than enough, but orders were orders.
Everything had already been discussed prior and there were no more words that needed to be said. The tension in the air was thick as silence stretched throughout the abandoned building. You glanced at your pocketwatch before giving your squad members a determined and encouraging look, silently telling them that it was almost time. Your eyes made contact with Guren, and the two of you nodded. Mission start.
Your squad was in charge of acting as back-up for Guren's squad. Your target—you never bothered to learn the vampire noble's name as it wasn't really necessary since they were going to die in the end—was known to always have a group of other vampires around him, and you and your squad were in charge of dealing with those fodder. There was a lot going on, but as a squad leader, you were able to relatively easily keep track of everything and everyone. Making sure that your squad stayed in formation, you attacked vampires left and right, prioritizing those that might seem to be able to give Guren and the others trouble while they dealt with the noble.
From the corner of your eye, you saw a vampire quickly approaching you. You killed off the one you were currently facing against with a swift swing of your sword at their neck before pivoting on your heel, preparing yourself to parry the bloodsucker's attack. However, a sharp pain suddenly shot through your side, causing you to falter. There was no time to regain yourself; the vampire's speed was impossible for you to match.
"Shit!" you cursed under your breath, thinking this was it. You were going to die because of a stupid cramp coming up at the worst possible time. A million thoughts and regrets crossed through your mind while simultaneously trying to think of a way to get out of this situation alive—if there was any. You could vaguely hear your squad members shouting towards you, but their words didn't reach your ears. You were too focused on the vampire in front of you. The vampire that was about to kill you with his sword raised above his head—
You steeled yourself. You were prepared for this. This was a war, and you knew that dying on the battlefield like this was a high possibility, so when the final strike never came, you were confused. In your attempt to escape the vampire's reach, you stumbled backwards, falling flat on your back, wondering what happened. You exhaled. You were still breathing. You were alive. ...Why? How? Just then, you heard a familiar voice call your name.
"Are you okay?" Shinya, whom you assumed to be your saviour, asked with pure concern, kneeling down at your side and helping you sit up.
"Shin—" you stopped yourself, almost forgetting about formalities due to your near-death experience. You cleared your throat and corrected yourself, "Major General, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with the Lieutenant Colonel?"
"I saw that you were in danger," Shinya answered, offering you his hand to help you stand up while the others dealt with the surrounding vampires, trying to give you the time you needed to recover. "Guren gave me permission to go to you."
"I see," you breathed out a small sigh of relief before flashing the young man a small smile. "Thank you."
"Are you okay?" Shinya repeated his initial question.
You nodded your head in response. "I'm fine. Thank you for worrying about me."
Before Shinya could reply, the two of you heard Guren call out a warning to the two of you. Immediately, you looked up, only to find the vampire noble charging towards you and the young man at your side. Shinya's and your reactions were automatic; you both immediately readied your weapons to deal with the oncoming threat.
The noble merely smiled at the challenge. He spoke in a provocative tone, directed towards you, "You're bleeding, aren't you? It smells delicious; I'd love to drink it."
You scrunched your face in disgust at his words, both you and the vampire knowing full-well that he was talking about wasn't just any kind of blood from you; he was talking about your period blood. You didn't think there'd be perverted vampires like him in this world, but it looks like you were wrong. Just like how you were wrong in thinking that being on your period wouldn't hinder you in battle. Shinya aimed towards the noble and opened fire. You were quick to follow his attack with your own as support, and in just a few seconds after that, Guren and the rest of his squad came in to provide backup and finish things once and for all.
With the battle finally over and having successfully completed the mission with only a few minor casualties and no losses in your numbers, you fell to your knees, feeling absolutely exhausted. Your eyes scanned the area, and everybody else seemed to be trying to catch their breath. Relief washed over you as you allowed your eyes to rest for a moment but opened them again when you heard footsteps approach you.
"Where are you hurt?"
"Major General...? I'm sorry, what are you talking about?" you were confused as to what the young man meant. As far as you knew, you didn't sustain any concerning injuries. You watched Shinya kneel down to your level. He firmly grasped your shoulders, his eyes full of worry as he stared at you. What the hell was going on?
"That vampire said you were bleeding. Where are you hurt?" Shinya repeated firmly.
...Oh.
You felt yourself blush, grabbing hold of Shinya's hands and pushing them away from you. You averted your gaze, moving to twiddle your thumbs as you answered, "I-It's not anything you need to worry about."
Shinya was having none of that. "So you are hurt!"
"No," you tried to respond firmly, but the embarrassment made your voice shake, making you sound vulnerable instead. "It's—ugh, you really don't need to worry, Major General."
"I worry because I care! Now tell me where you're hurt so that I can take care of it," the young man insisted. It was unusual to see him so worked up.
For a second, you forgot just what it was the two of you were talking about because you were trying to figure out if you actually heard what Shinya said correctly. He's worried because he cares about you. The thought would have made you smile, but Shinya urged for you to answer him. You sighed in defeat, wondering if anybody would be able to come to your rescue. ...Apparently not.
"I'm on my period," you decide to answer bluntly and just get things done and over with. There really shouldn't be anything to be ashamed about it anyways. Shinya stared at you in silence with an expression you can't quite read. The silence was awkward and making you nervous so you decided to speak again, hoping to chase it away, "I'm sure you've learned about the female reproduction system before, Major General."
"O-Oh," Shinya finally found his voice again, but his response ended up sounding rather lame. "Right, uh..." You felt like it was the end of the world all over again before you felt Shinya grab hold of your hands, and he continued after having overcome his initial embarrassment, "Still, is there anything you'd like? Anything I can do to help?"
Slowly, you found yourself start to smile from the young man's kindness and consideration, "I'll be fine, thanks."
The young man beamed before helping you stand up. He hesitated for a moment, and you could see that he was debating with himself about something, his hands still holding onto yours. After a few more seconds, Shinya only offered you his usual smile, except this one held a flicker of an emotion behind it that you've never seen before.
Slowly, the major general let go of your hands so that he could instead pat your head. "Be careful, okay? I really do care about you."
Before you could respond, Guren's voice was heard from afar, calling for Shinya. With a quick farewell, the young man turned on his heel to see what it was his friend needed him for. As you watched his retreating figure, you couldn't help but call out to him.
"Sh-Shinya!" You boldly and daringly called the major general by his name without any formalities, prompting him to stop in his tracks and to look back at you. Ignoring the growing warmth pooling in your cheeks, you reciprocated Shinya's sentiment. "I care about you too!"
Shinya's eyes widened for a moment before his entire face lit up. He flashed you the widest grin you've ever seen on him, and he waved his hand to you one last time before walking away with a bounce in his steps.

(sorry it took me so long to read it lol) You made some good points on Mika and Krul's co-dependence, but the thing I really wanna pick at is the comparison to Guren and Yuu. I get that their motives are similar, but relationship-wise, Krul seems to have Guren beat as the better guardian. Especially considering a vampire's loss of emotions as time passes, for selfish reasons or not, imo she seems to care more about Mika's well-being than Guren does for Yuu.
oh ok! yea, i find the relationshipparallels between guren and yuu and krul and mika interesting aswell. what’s always puzzled me is the fact that so many ppl seem tothink that guren is a better guardian than krul is, where i don’tbelieve that at all. i have a hard time saying she’s better, butthat’s only bc we don’t get as much time with krul and mika. theproblem is, we’re much closer to guren and yuu, as the story ismainly thru yuu’s pov, and so we get a lot more insight into whatguren has done. with krul and mika, it’s just some snippets of themtogether.
you make a good point tho about howvampire’s emotions decay over time, and so ultimately krul shouldhave less capacity to care. although i guess there needs to be moreinformation on guren’s status as a namanari, bc that too may erodehis emotions in a similar fashion to vampires (after all, yuu seemscolder in his namanari state). which is a whole other issue here:what’s guren and what’s mahiru? but since there’s no definitive wayto tell what’s what, i’ll compare them based on what we have in thestory without worrying too much about guren’s human/demon/namanaristatus. i just think it’s an important disclaimer to make lol
their motives are pretty much exactlythe same, as they both wish to have seraph children for their ownends, although those ends are unclear. they both maintain an amountof distance from their respective “children” (i’ll be calling them their kids from now on lol) and personally guidethem in the right direction. for guren, this meant accelerating yuuinto the army and putting him in a situation that would awaken hisseraph. for krul, what we know is that she essentially kept mikaclose and made him dependent on her. and they sort of act much thesame way to their kids, although the narrative treats a lot ofguren’s cruelty to yuu with humor, something i’ve never been a bigfan of. and so i view his maltreatment of yuu the same as krul’s ofmika no matter how it’s framed.
the prime example of their similaritiesis highlighted in the parallel scenes i mentioned, chapter 16 andchapter 22. guren treats yuu going to see the hiiragi’s as a sign ofdefiance, just as krul took mika’s acting out in a similar fashion.just the way the lines are practically the same:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then krul’s scene with mika:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
they are the same scene!! the same!! they both feel they have ownership over their child and they both hang a lot over their heads. plus, they manipulate them both with promising them what they want the most: guren promises yuu his revenge, and krul promises mika will be back with yuu. and the undercurrent of both is always “without me, it’ll never happen, so don’t defy me”. and it effectively controls them. while yuu may act out more, he’s still under guren’s thumb.
so essentially, they are nearly the same. the differences in their presentation seems, again, to largely be based on the narrative. it’s hard to get a grasp on how they both feel about their kids, though. guren has concern somewhere, best shown in the scene when he cried in nagoya, and krul does too, shown in the scene i mentioned last time when she told mika to run. and their kids have concern for them too: yuu’s is obvious, as he’s incredibly loyal to guren and his current main objective is finding some way to save him. mika too is attached to krul, not wanting to leave her to ferid and showing pain in his features when she’s left to burn to at the stake. so really, i think it’s fair to say they both view them as their guardians, and they do care.
krul and guren are more difficult when making comparison to who is better and who is worse. like i said, we get more with guren than we do with krul, but i totally agree that guren seems to have a blatant disregard for yuu’s wellbeing. really, i can only think of genuine concern coming up for him when yuu was possessed in his fight against crowley (chap 34). and he did show some affection to him in chap 26 in that short scene where he pats him on the head (aaaAAAAAAA) and when he helped him get back to sleep in that flashback. and to be fair, at his coldest, like in chap 18 and 40-41, it is suggested that he’s at least being influenced by mahiru, if not entirely possessed. chap 14 is harder to place, his conversation with shinoa, but again, this is incredibly callous toward yuu’s health. and the way he acted prior to that in the battle at shinjuku?? not great for his track record, since he was pretty pleased when his seraph came out. having yuu come to shinjuku was just one big experiment to see if he could draw out that power, based on how he had shinoa immediately subdue yuu and then in the conversation with shinoa afterward when she claimed guren gave her special drugs to give yuu.
i sort of went over krul’s affection for mika, how she offers physical affection when he feeds and her words in chap 22 are just. so sweet to me. she tries to comfort him by telling him anyone would have acted that way and immediately accepts his apology despite how rough he was with her. however, the anime really played this stuff up. she was far more affectionate in that scene and in the final episode, doing things that weren’t present in the manga. also, she has been pretty horrible to mika as well. she calls him her dog and she isn’t bothered by physically subduing him in chap 22, essentially mocking his very justified anger. and i am constantly going back and forth as to whether or not her calling him her “son” is supposed to be a part of that mocking. she’s certainly talking down to him, but i’m not sure how malicious it is.
finally, there is the big elephant in the room: the experiments. guren freely experimented on yuu and brought out his seraph, whereas krul has never done this to mika. however, their situations are entirely different. jida is trying to create seraphs and so guren experimenting on yuu was part of that (or he went under that pretense). krul, however, would have been sentenced to essentially the vampire’s death penalty of eternal entombment in stone if her dabbling in the seraph project had been found out. so it really seems like she couldn’t experiment on mika even if she wanted to for fear of being found out. i’m not sure what her plan was and we can’t be sure she would have done anything with him in this capacity even if she could, but i feel the circumstances are too different to compare. guren was free to do it, krul was decidedly not.
tl;dr bc i rambled again: krul and guren’s feelings toward their kids are very ambiguous, but, no matter how they feel, they’re both poor guardians. and here’s the thing: i love both krul and guren, and i want to desperately see them grow to care about the kids they first picked up for selfish motives. and i think they do, in some ways? but i can’t strongly say if one is better than the other for right now. i wish we had seen more with krul and mika, but yea i can agree that guren is at least just as bad as she is. it’s just that the narrative, and accordingly, yuu, present him better (or at least more sympathetically) than it does krul, and so i think that’s why he gets more passes. i just…wish they would both care for their kids in the way they both deserve.
