I should've made this in the first place to go as a reference to my post about Kabru rarely being shown eating (and when he does it, it isn't pleasurable) and linked it somewhere. I didn't feel like I needed to go through every example and based on people's tags I do think everyone gets it ... but I'm compiling this anyway because I find it really interesting from an artistic/writerly standpoint.

Like, Kabru obviously is eating meals in the abstract sense. But as I said, Kui almost never actually draws him putting food in his mouth. At first I assumed that she was avoiding it to save on space because he needs to be shown talking instead, but as I've looked back, I've noted that she doesn't usually shy away from giving characters speech bubbles even when they're chewing or they have utensils in their mouths. Unless they're Kabru.

This would realistically be the best time to actually show him eating, since it's a normal meal at a normal restaurant, but no. He doesn't actually put food in his mouth in this entire scene. They show him taking a bite in the anime, so I almost forgot, but honestly the manga just makes it look like he's picking at his food. Again: I'm sure he does eat this meal. My point is that I think it's a deliberate choice to keep that off-page, to contrast all the other characters who get to both visibly eat food and enjoy it.

As mentioned, Kabru is only shown drinking wine while his party eats the snacks in chapter 32. I think it's possible to infer that he doesn't actually eat any food here at all.

The harpy egg omelette bit barely counts as eating lmao we all saw him struggling to even swallow a bite down. Let's move on.

Like with the omelette, it gets a checkmark for actually going into his mouth but no checkmark for enjoyment. He hates this. He's being spoon fed bad cake and patronized.

Literally the worst meal in Dungeon Meshi lmao.

Barometz:

He does actually eat this. Rare Kabru mastication panel, not clickbait. But it's kind of a sad moment when you remember that he was looking forward to a cultural dish of his mother's- literal comfort food from his childhood- and instead got the weird godless crab-meat-plant that is the barometz. This may be the only time Kabru goes looking for comfort, and he's pointedly denied it.

Next:

Yeah he isn't drawn eating during this entire scene either. Only drawn holding the food and his utensil.

As stated: still never shown eating. Deliberately shown getting Mithrun to eat instead. Kabru, the call is coming from inside the goddamn house.

Bavarois is next, and once again it gets a checkmark for actual on-page chewing but as we see, he still hates it and has to concentrate very hard and block out all thoughts of what he's doing in order to swallow it down without making a scene.

Okay. Faligon feast. Kabru does canonically spend days eating for the sake of Laios and Falin! Yay! Caloric fucking intake! Clean plate club!

And yet.

Literally shown stopping himself before he can put the food in his mouth.

Mickbell is so real for this. No one needed to hear a lecture from Senshi more than Kabru.

Anyway. Given how surgically precise Kui is with everything else in this story, I just feel the choice to constantly show Kabru focusing on his worries during mealtimes, instead of drawing him just enjoying food, was purposeful.

Wow. It’s been 2 years??? I thought I would be done with this comic in 2 months! I don’t know whether to feel worried or accomplished!!

(With months between each update, I understand why it’s been 2 years. I’m a slow writer and artist and well- many things have come up in my life that had to come first, like my sisters wedding! 💞 and college 😅)

My feelings with this comic are actually so complicated. On one hand I hate looking at my older art because GOD IT LOOKS SO OFF I want to stab it, and then on the other hand I am so so proud of myself for even continuing it this far. Ngl the weird route has been one of my favorite parts of this comic. It took me FOREVER to figure out an ending, but damn do I still get chills >:) hehe.

I’m still miffed that I named this project “Deltarune: The Chara Timeline” I could have gone for something so much COOLER. Doesn’t help I use like 7 different titles for it either. We got Deltarune the Chara timeline, Deltarune chara timeline, THE Chara timeline, chara timeline, Ct??? Man,,, I’m crazy. I take after my family so hard. We have 3 names for each of our dogs 💀.

Comic/Animation Tip i have learned. It is VERY GOOD to make the character relatively simple in design. Shape language is also super important, ((but I never really got around to doing that before I was half way through the comic, woops.)) These things can make ur process go by so much faster. This whole comic has been a HUGE learning curve. LIKE OH MY GOD. I had to learn how to draw backgrounds, write dialogue, plan a story, learn how to draw fast and draw noses (which god damn I really still can’t). And I had to learn how the heck to squeeze art into a tiny page and make it not look grainy. It's intense!

Anyways.... this has been such an awesome opportunity! Thanks Toby Fox!

I have ten billion WIP sketches I need to finish, but for some reason I stayed up from 9 PM to 4 AM conceptualizing, making patterns, sewing, painting and applying makeup on this stupid fucking felt squid......the detailing needs to be cleaned up cause there's only one coat of paint so far, but he's pretty much done

my neighbors probably think I'm insane because I was running around the yard clenching this toy kallamar in a death grip and flying him around like an airplane/putting him in the barbecue/poking him with a stick. I want to tie him to a string and recreate the opening of napoleon dynamite >:) ALSO I MADE HIM SMOKE OUT OF A STUPID CRYSTAL PIPE BUT PLEASE DON'T ACTUALLY USE THOSE, THEY ARE SUPER TOXIC LMAO MINE IS FOR DECORATION

I don't have any process pics because I had tunnel vision autism style and forgot the rest of the universe existed while I was working on him. BUT if you're curious I'll ramble below the cut

Okay I am not a seamstress by any means. I've sewn my entire life but very, very infrequently. I've done plushies, clothes, cosplays, fursuits, accessories, etc. but I only do one like once a year, so while I planned to make all 5 bishops, I'm not really sure I'll get them all done. The material cost was like 20 bucks tops so I'm not too upset if I don't finish them. I AT LEAST WANT TO GET SHAMURA OR HEKET DONE.

here is the concept sketch ft. heket's toes and shamura's fingers. I decided to do his pre-schism version so I could fit him with jewelry! I did him first because like I said I sew infrequently and don't know wtf I'm doing, everyone else seemed a lot more complicated.

So I basically just traced this drawing on a printer paper-sized canvas in SAI, and guesstimated how everything would look in a 3D space. His head is four pieces, one triangle identical to the one in the picture, two wide triangles that are sewn together in the back, and a circle for his chin. You can't really see it in any of the pics but he's literally like a black cylindrical stick with little tentacles sewn on where his mantle connects to his cloak. The leg tentacles are one piece of felt that look like tassels, where they're connected by a rectangle but branch off into individual pieces. He can't stand up very well, so his cape keeps him up (that's gonna be an issue for every other bishop too except heket cause she's gonna be ROUND). Mostly everything like the crown, cloak, head, etc. are cones so I just had to make a lot of wide triangles.

For the details, I just used acrylic paint that was watered down so he's not especially crunchy, and for the blush tone I used a makeup palette my mom bought me 10 years ago in hopes I'd get in touch with my "feminine side", but I grew up into a nonbinary butch lesbian so OOPS. Kallamar looks better with makeup than me anyway. I'm kinda sad I couldn't get his freckles as lopsided as I draw them but it probably looks better in plush form to have them even anyway....

I could just post the pattern so I don't have to explain this but 1. I am mentally ill about the thought of my kallamar being in someone else's house and 2. the original pattern had to be tweaked while I was working on him so the final pattern straight up doesn't exist, I winged it the whole time

OH and the jewelry is just scrap pieces I had laying around, I might repaint it all to be gold instead of silver + bronze. I used 20g aluminum wire for his armlet thing, jumper rings for his earrings + ring (+ a diamond dot from my mom's kits for the gem) and chain for the bracelet. I made him an amulet as well but it felt like overkill so I took it off. I'm probably gonna make him a plague doctor mask and medicine bag sometime because I think about nurse kallamar more than I probably should :') I've already sewn one as a prop for a toy raven before so it shouldn't be too hard

Knb dating headcanons (gn reader)

This is my part of a collab with the lovely @neoo that I've been putting off for months (Aomine, Kise, Akashi, Takao, Momoi)

You can probably tell where my biases lie lmao

Aomine

~ Before dating, you guys had one of those friendships in which you do everything together. If one of you was somewhere, the other was likely not far off. You were also one of the only people he opened up to in any way

~ Even before your relationship was official, everyone half thought you were dating. You both always dismissed these ideas furiously, unaware of your pining being mutual

~ Was definitely a mess when he first asked you out. Despite trying to appear confident, it was clear that he was really flustered and that the nerves were getting to him. When you accepted, his face lit up with one of his rare, geniuine grins and it was one of the most attractive things you had ever seen

~ Definitely the jealous type. If he sees anyone try to approach you romantically, he will put a possessive arm around your waist at the very least while glaring at that person. Has no problem getting his hands dirty, metaphorically or sometimes literally, to remind them that you're his. Usually, he'll take it further by kissing your cheeks and lips, before trailing kisses down your neck. You end up having to remind him that you're in a public setting.

~ Loves seeing you in his basketball jersey, especially if you wear it to his games. He thinks you look adorable in it, plus there's something really hot about you wearing his name and number like that. The first time you did it, he just stared in admiration. Needless to say, it was hard for him to focus during the first quarter of that game.

~ His love languages are quality time and physical contact. He can be a bit closed off at times, so he isn't great with words and emotions, but he finds other ways to show you he cares. For one, you're pretty much always doing everything together: study sessions, relaxing at one of your houses, watching TV, wandering around town... if you're somewhere, he's usually nearby.

~ When you're in a busy place together, he'll hold your hand to prevent you from losing sight of each other. He'll also do this more casually, and, while doing it, he fidgets with your fingers and draws patterns on the back of your hand with his fingertips. It's weirdly soothing for both of you.

~ Side hugs + arm around your waist, so you guys can keep moving while he's touching you

~He's also the type of guy to run his hand up your thigh and kiss you in public if you're comfortable with that

~ Definitely loves it if you sleep in with him during the weekend. You'll spend hours cuddled up like that with his arms wrapped around you or your head on his chest

~ He'll jokingly tease/bully you ALL the time. It was a large part of how you guys used to flirt pre relationship, but it didn't stop after. You can do it right back of course, but he's the kinda guy who always needs to have the last word

~ Tries to teach you how to play basketball. If you're bad at it, he won't mind (he'll definitely tease you though) because he thinks it's adorable how hard you're trying for him

~ Despite not being the best with emotions, he'll try really hard to communicate more with you as your relationship goes on. Makes sure you always know how much he adores you

Kise

~ Even before he realised how he felt about you, he was constantly flirting with you. Initially, you shit him down completely, but, as you guys became good friends, you grew to tolerate it

~ He was definitely confused when he first realised he felt something deeper for you - he usually only had casual relationships and superficial flirting, so when he found out he wanted something more from you, he was pretty stumped.

~ Pushed you away at first, but, as he grew to accept his feelings he set about making amends

~ He was terrified when asking you out- what if you said no ??? To his delight, you said yes without hesitation

~ Forgot about all his fan girls when you two started dating. Now, he just ends the conversation with them as quickly as possible to get to you. He also makes it very clear that he's taken.

~ His main love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. He'll constantly be praising all your successes and telling you how perfect and hot you are. Do the same for him and he melts.

~ Constantly leaving kisses all over your face and either hugging you or keeping an arm around you. If you let him, he'll keep a hand on your thigh whenever you two are sitting together.

~ You definitely have mini parties when one of you sleeps over - you put on a bad film, make some popcorn, do your skincare (Kise definitely has the best stuff from his modelling job) and just relax.

~ He's a textbook golden retriever boy.

Takao

~ You probably met because you were sat next to each other in class or something.

~ Tries to crack jokes/make you laugh to win your heart. The kinda guy to send you 50 memes/reels a day and be like "this reminded me of you,"

~ Definitely tries to use those really lame dirty pick up lines, and says "Only joking," before you even have time to react.

~ Keeps up a confident facade around you, but internally he's panicking. When he finally works up the courage to ask you out, he's so id when you say yes.

~ When you actually start dating, he's by your side 24/7, and, if he can't be with you, he spams your DMs with texts and memes.

~ If you're ever sad, he tries to comfort you by making you laugh

Akashi

~ Was cold towards you at first, as he was still completely in denial about having feelings for you. However, as you grew closer over time and started to open up to each other, he let his guard down

~ You guys were probably friends for a long time before dating, and Akashi already trusted you with his life. You're the only person he's ever properly opened up to

~ Treats you like royalty - to him, princess treatment is the bare minimum. He's the definition of a gentleman

~ Also loves to shower you in luxurious gifts - definitely the type to send you large bouquets of your favourite flower at least once a week

~ will keep up his cold façade in public but becomes a total sweetheart when it's just you two

~ Posessive and overprotective (not that many people try coming near you with the kind of reputation he has)

Momoi

~ You guys were probably already very good friends when she realised she liked you. Eveb efore that, she'd always want to hang out with you and looked forward to seeing you the most

~ Now, she'll be extra friendly and sweet to you, never once leaving your side

~ Becomes a little shy and awkward at times, especially in the beginning of the relationship

~ her love language is quality time - she plans so many exciting experiences and trips for you guys

INTRODUCING THE MOST MANIPULATIVE KING IN HISTORY , MAGNIFICO!!! 🎇🎇🎇🎇(I hate him but he deserves a redesign lol).

For those who see this post for the first time, I introduce myself, Hi :D! I'm Aled and this is a collaboration with @ animación , author of the rewrite of Wish that is on her profile (read it, the story it's soooo good) and I am in charge of drawing the redesigns of her story.

Now, coming back to the main thing, I will show how we got to this result :)

FACIAL FEATURES AND HAIR:

-Honestly, I never thought that getting used to drawing Magnifico would be so difficult lmao, how in most of my procedures to make the designs, I start with sketches and studying the structure of the character's face, this was a little difficult because I'm not that I'm used to drawing people over 20, but with a few practices I was able to figure out how to draw him :D

(I also did digital internships, but I didn't save most of them because I forgot lmao)

COLOR PALETTE:

-Don't think that I chose a palette of yellow and gold colors just because I thought it was pretty (well, that's also another reason), what happened is that when I was searching through conceptual arts, I found some designs by Magnifico where They used a blue and yellow color palette

I did a quick search and found this:

-Tell me this doesn't remind you of Magnifico, then yes, that's why I chose a yellow color palette, also adding a golden tone to give it a royal vibe.

-I also applied this in the design of Queen Amaya, in the publication of her design I explained why I added details of a dark blue color in her costume and Magnifico's costumes

ATTIRE:

-From the beginning I always wanted to modify Magnifico's cape by adding a rose as a brooch, and searching through the conceptual arts I found quite a few interesting models, so it can be said that I combined everything I liked and that's how I got the cape for Magnifico, Also adding other details that occurred to me.

-The author sent me several ideas for Magnifico (thank you by the way :D), one of them was associating Magnifico with the sun, I really liked the idea and that is why there are so many symbols of the sun in his suit, plus these It reminded me how in so many cultures the Sun is worshiped, just as the kingdom of roses worships Magnifico, there are also other reasons why the sun fits with Magnifico but I already mentioned that in the publication of Amaya's redesign.

-The truth is, I only drew the other details improvised, this time I just got carried away, but hey! The outfit didn't look bad at all :)

-Another important part of Magnifico's costume is the "M" on his badge, but in fact it is not an M 😅, it is the sign of Scorpio ♏, this idea was from Anny Mation

-So yeah, I had to add the Scorpio symbol yes or yes, at first I thought about adding it to the back of the cape but I wasn't convinced by the idea, but then I thought: "Wait, why don't I add the sign on the gold plate ? that would look elegant."

FINAL COMMENTS:

-I'm proud of how this turned out, I feel like it does justice to a villain that commemorates 100 years of Disney :)

-Also, I think that those who have already seen the other redesigns know which character is next, right 👀✨? For Aster, I don't know how long it will take me to draw him, since the boy is literally a walking animation studio lmao.
